Hmmm…..
Look. I’m not saying it’s real but the fact that the Solis Magna system just happens to resemble Nebula PK 329-02.2 is interesting to me.
Okay.
Make of it what you will.
I don’t study or know anything about astronomy, admittedly.
I just stumbled across this fact thanks to some old BZPower posts.
(Somebody NEEDS to mention this on BioSector01 btw for the Solis Magna system article)

Complaining about black clover
Black clover made all the bad guys kill people because they wouldn't have been bad guys otherwise. "I want to change our country because it is bad, and doing the same exact thing for 500 years has changed nothing" that's a pretty solid point. "I'm going to do this by killing everyone" okay hold on a minute.
Also Asta sucked at conveying the idea he was supposed. It was supposed to be this underdog story of how this nobody became somebody because he never gave up even though he had shit genes. A real pull yourself up by the bootstrap moment, but those definitely can be done well. He's just this poor boy with no magic at all so sad. But also he can pull swords out of thin air (book) turn into the devil and then make said sword shoot lasers and turn into a football field long sword but no actually he's so sad and magicless. Brother. Idk but that sounds pretty magical to me. Yeah he worked hard, but so did the devil believers or whatever and there was an obvious difference between the two. Asta no longer had the ability to pretend like he was on the same playing field as people with very little to no magic, because he wasn't. He had the power to change things in his life, they had nowhere near that amount of power.
Magna was a much better representation of the whole, never give up and you'll make it theme. He had very little magic and because of that he had to get smart about his magic. He had to make technical moves instead of "I stab you with a mile long sword really hard so you die". He did what he could with what he had, and he did it really well. Asta was given a lot of power and did his best to retain a system that kept people without power down.
I thought the anime was sick tbf and I'm not saying it's bad, I'm just being a hater for fun.

Alright, I've finished Jedi Survivor, and I have a few thoughts on it.
The story is pretty good! I like how the events in the game feel important, but they're not entirely far-reaching enough to interfere with the overall story of the universe. There were some pretty solid twists and turns, some of which I was genuinely surprised at, and some were telegraphed by me knowing my narrative tropes, but it didn't make them less impactful.
I like the planets, and the exploration as well. It's fun to wander around a bit and solve some puzzles. The planets are quite large, so there's a lot to do, which an get tedious after a while, but it's still better than a few other open world games I've played.
The new stances are also really fun. There are 5 different ways to wield your lightsaber in this game. There's the standard single blade, there's a saber staff, and you can dual wield. Those are options from the first game, but a lot more fleshed out. Then, you get a blaster and a crossguard stance, and they can really make combat interesting. The blaster gives you more of a ranged ability, and the crossguard stance gives you exclusively heavy attacks. I spent a lot of time using those two new stances.
Now, there's the bad things. I lowered the graphics quality in a couple key areas, so I didn't run into too many issues, but some certain effects would significantly impact how well the game ran.
And then, there's the combat.
Fallen Order and Jedi Survivor are both "Souls-Like" games, which means that they focus a lot on dodges and parries. Fallen Order had a combat system that is pretty close to perfect, while I REALLY found Jedi Survivor to be frustrating.
I am not particularly skilled, but neither am I a pushover in these types of games. I'm good at parrying and dodging in games. And, there's a couple things that I know that makes these mechanics work. Jedi Survivor has several issues that I found made the combat really annoying.
Firstly, every enemy had moves that are counter-intuitive to the combat system the game wants you to use. If you have a group of melee enemies in a group of two or three, it's pretty simple to deal with them. But, once you get a larger group, or maybe also a mix of different enemies, then you will have no time to do anything other than dodge or block. Those fights are absolute chaos. As you block one enemy, another will show up and do an unblockable attack, forcing you to dodge. Then another enemy will be attacking you, forcing you to block or dodge that one. That happens with every combat encounter. Also, every higher level enemy has unblockable attacks with really strange timing, making it harder to dodge, as if you dodge too early, they will home in on you, and too late will get you hit. Some enemies have attacks that you can ONLY run from, dodging doesn't work at all.
Secondly, animations take a very long time, and cannot be interrupted. The crossguard stance is really strong, but it's also really slow, so if you're fighting someone and they attack you during a swing, you can't block them. Every attack that hits you will stagger you, which is a lengthy animation which you cannot interrupt, and will usually end up with you getting hit again. You cannot interrupt enemy animations, either.
Thirdly, there are a lot of the mini boss enemies. Like the purge troopers from Fallen Order, these are enemies designed to test your combat abilities. The list of enemies that are designed for that in Fallen Order are: purge troopers, security droids, bounty hunters, large animals, boss fights. In Jedi Survivor, the list is: purge troopers, security droids, bounty hunters, large animals, boss fights, commando droids, doidekas, hammer raiders, magna guards, lightsaber raiders, and dark trooper droids. And, most every combat encounter has at least one of those enemy types.
Fourth, the fights are a lot more chaotic. There's a lot of moving pieces, and if you don't pay attention to every one of the pieces, you're getting attacked from behind.
Fifth, there's the amount of times the game keeps you in a single spot and sends several waves of enemies at you. These were never fun to do. I don't feel like they challenged by combat abilities, but rather just challenged by patience. There was ONE time that I kinda enjoyed doing the waves, and that's purely for reasons I won't say here due to story spoilers, but I made it more interesting for myself.
And finally, the boss fights were mainly kinda bad. There are 5 stances in the game, and only 1 of them matters. Dual wielding lightsabers has the ability to cancel an attack and block, meaning you can be attacking and react faster to a counterattack. This means that you can actually deal better damage. It also has a good saber throw attack, so you can also keep some range from the fight if you want.
The fun part of this is that I don't have a massive issue with all of those listed above, except for one small thing: I was not playing on a high difficulty. I was playing on the middle "balanced" difficulty (Jedi Knight difficulty). At one point, I lowered it to one step above the easiest difficulty, and still had a rough time on the final boss due to several of the issues mentioned above.
Overall, I would say that the game is really good, but play it on a lower difficulty if you're playing it for more of a casual time.

Why don't crocodiles eat capybaras?
You may have noticed that crocodiles only eat capybaras sometimes, as opposed to every opportunity they are afforded. Capybaras are fond of relaxing near potential luggage monsters, possibly because doing so makes them appear "swanky" and "swag AF" or "OG original gangbanger"
Some persons have insinuated that this is simply because the crocodiles are "not hungry" or "put off by the smell of wet capybara after the gym", but have these persons even met a crocodile?
According to archaeological evidence unearthed in 2041, capybaras and other animals swore a blood oath thousands of years ago. Everyone knows that the forbidden fruit in Eden—spoken of in the book of Genesis—was not a Cosmic Crisp ® American-made Apple Treat, but in fact a capybara's juicy ass. In addition to this, the capybara was actually the last pair of animals let onto the ark because they were busy staging the moon landing for NASA.
Too bad the moon got obliterated in '67, and all we have now is a giant, paper maccha version inflated with helium that they decorate with wax lips every St. Augustine's Day Eve.
Anyway. Crocodiles have notoriously poor eyesight, and no government funded education programs, so most of the time that you see them using iPods, they are using a jailbroken version because they never got Apple accounts. And they all listen to Katy Perry's hit single, "I Kissed a Girl (Because She Applied Too Much ChapStick® and It's Winter, and I Don't Drink Enough Water So My Lips are Really Chapped, and I Probably Could Have Just Asked To Use Her ChapStick®, but I Didn't Want Germs but Now I Have Mono)" on repeat.
And what are capybaras known for? That's right, the invention of LASIK surgery. Crocodiles usually don't get LASIK until they turn 21, so if they are talking to capybaras before then, it is probably drug-related, or a high-stakes poker deal.
But none of this so far explains why alligators don't eat capybaras. Alligators are freshwater crocodiles, and capybaras are salty little sandwiches. The overwhelming majority of scams (99.99repeating %, to be precise) are perpetrated by capybaras with voice changers to make them sound like scambaiters pretending to be grandmothers. Through a complex system of vocal vitrification, capybaras will call you and pretend to be your bank, but then ask for your Epic Games Password so they can steal all your v-bucks. Remember: Your Actual Bank will not ever ask you for your EpicGames.com password, and they are legally obligated to tell you if you ask them if they are undercover cops.
Using their skills, capybaras long ago had human features if humans wore prosthetics to make them look like modern-day monkeys. They then bribed ancient monkey races (which had faces that looked like modern-day giraffe heads) into an elaborate tradeoff that resulted in the exploitation of caimans, and a Terms of Service DDoS attack involving the secret Third Rail on most Roman aquaducts that consisted of solid gold bricks to power the Antikythera mechanism.
Once Grandma Monitor signed the Magna Carta, it was sealed in the mummy's tomb for four hundred thousand years, and ever since, capybaras have owned the third largest stock hoard in the world.
And that's how capybaras and crocodiles hang out. Sometimes a murder or two happens, but for the most part the treaty has been upheld, and we still don't know what the alligators did that the capybaras are blackmailing them for.
Oh well.

What I'm about to say doesn't come with much solid evidence. It's more a conclusion based on the general vibes that I've picked up.
I think that Nozel's actions and treatment of Noelle can partially be explained away by the world/society of Black Clover being inclined towards submission and resignation.
The lower ranks of society are all but forced to resigned to their stations in life. They aren't born with a great deal of mana and with limited power comes limited influence and opportunities. Even if they want to work hard and try to change their lives, peasants aren't really allowed to. In trying to better their own lives, they challenge the system of Clover Kingdom and are then targeted by those of higher status for "not knowing their place" (Zara, anyone?). Commoners like Jack look down upon peasants (Jack questioned Yami's decision to recruit Magna and Zora). People constantly doubt and sneer at Yuno and Asta because they are the lowest, even amongst peasants. The lower classes are expected to remain beneath those above and someone not fitting into the mold set for them comes as a surprise. It came as a shock and insult when Asta stood up against Alecdora and Solid.
With that in mind, I think Nozel didn't make an effort to be a better brother to Noelle because of those expectations of submission. Because Noelle didn't immediately display any control and was told her she was weak, it was expected that she'd accept the fate of someone without power. And if Noelle resigned herself to being weak, then she'd stay away from the battlefield and thus stay safe.
But then Noelle did the exact opposite and became determined to grow strong in order to be recognized/accepted by her family. So... didn't really work out.
Like I said, the societal expectation for the weak to accept that they're weak isn't solely responsible for Nozel's actions (or lack thereof) when it comes to Noelle's treatment. I just wanted throw out another potential factor to the Silva drama.
Nozel certainly has flaws, no denying that. But do you think he can be corrupt? Or selfish? For the first one, Nozel doesn't seem that way to me, I can be wrong. But the second one is maybe a more complex question.
Yeah, and I don't think I've met a Nozel simp who would have claimed that Nozel wouldn't have his flaws, or been in the wrong for his treatment of Noelle. So, everyone is on the same boat when it comes to it.
Now, when it comes to corruption, I think there are many ways of understanding "being corrupt". For many, I suppose, the first thing that comes to their mind are the archetype of corrupt politicians, which... in Nozel's personality, placement in the society, doesn't quite make sense. He already has access to more wealth than... maybe a handful of people (depending on how assets are distributed among the royal families), so why bother taking bribes. So, what about being "a corrupted individual", selling your ideals and morals for some other kind of gain? Despite Nozel, perhaps, being afraid of standing up against his father, or seeking "comfort" in not having to reveal his weakness in not defending Noelle and rather going along with what everyone else is also doing, I'm... Hmm... If he believes in his own head, and I mean *really believes* that he is protecting Noelle, even if it would be a twisted line of thought, then calling him "corrupt" wouldn't be accurate.
However, I think that in this context, a similar line of thought could be used for selfishness. Because... if in his twisted line of thought, he *thinks* that he is doing this for Noelle's sake then...?
I would say that there are selfish aspects to Nozel. And I would say so much more freely than that there are "corrupt aspects" to Nozel. But would I describe Nozel as a selfish man? I'm not... sure. He's trying not to be? He has done selfish actions, most of which I think rise from a deeply buried psychological fear of everyone seeing that he is weak and a coward for not standing up for his baby sister, there is no denying that. And I wouldn't exactly call him altruistic due to... well, you know him. He's "knows his place" in the society, and doesn't see a reason to behave outside of it, but that is learned behaviour, which could also be seen as a reflection of his upbringing rather than him as a person.
I don't think I have, right now, better words for describing what I think. But for some reason just downright saying that "he is a selfish person" doesn't fit, in my opinion

Seeing as you mentioned in one of your last posts that you’ve learnt how to study in the pas semester, I was wondering if you could share with us your tips & tricks, please? I love your blog ❤️
hi!!!!! first of all, thank you so much for the kind words. it always helps when i hear that people like my content, and it’s nice to know when people on studyblr reach out and motivate each other. i hope you’re doing well as well!i guess i have to preface this with the fact that studying in undergrad is very different from studying in law school. also, studying in different undergraduate courses constitutes very different studying styles as well. for me, i took literature, so it was a lot of writing papers and not much memory work. in law school, there was a LOT of memory work. i did really badly for several months because i wasn’t used to studying for those kinds of exams. i may make posts if anyone’s interested on how to study specifically for literature or law classes, but for now, these are general tips on how to study.this is a long-ass post, so my apologies!
HOW TO STUDY!!!!!!! A HUGE GENERAL GUIDE FROM SAM FROM LUMINOUS STUDIES, AFTER ~7 YEARS OF HOMESCHOOLING, 4 YEARS OF UNDERGRAD (AND A MAGNA CUM LAUDE) AND ONE TERRIFYING SEMESTER OF LAW SCHOOL.
FIRST THINGS FIRST: general tips, some life advice, preparation
- actual intelligence matters very little in school. some people learn faster, some take a little more time. being smart in itself does not matter when you don’t work. actual hard work can compensate for a less retentive memory (as i’ve found out over the semester). discipline and a lot of hard work always pay off, even if it seems rocky at first. make the resolve to dedicate a set amount of time to study everyday, even if it’s just an hour or so. a little is better than nothing. - my constitutional law professor (aka my favorite professor) advised one of my classmates to log her work hours. while it seems tempting to set a specific timeslot to get things done, sometimes life gets in the way, and you don’t actually get to work at 3 pm. maybe most of the time you sit at 3 pm is spent fiddling on your phone. to actually track productivity and consistency, time the hours you actively spend studying. put away all your distractions. personally, i like the forest app because it forces me to stay away from social media and lets me use the pomodoro method. on good study days, i get to log my work time in batches of 25 minutes. again, it can be the amount of hours you put in, but what matters is the quality of work you put in. stay consistent. i promise you. it helps- on the study environment: sometimes studyblr convinces you that you need a coffeeshop, an aesthetic library, a beautiful italian garden to get things done. that would be ideal, but most of us don’t have access to that. i suggest you evaluate if you work better in public spaces with a little sound ambience, to hold yourself accountable (coffeeshops, the school library, with friends), or in private, quiet spaces. once you know where you work best, know what keeps you focused. is it tea? a glass of iced coffee? a lofi playlist? a podcast? i find that process a little fun because it keeps the study process a little less dull and uncomfortable, as it often can be. don’t forget to keep it pleasant/rewarding, but note that overindulgence can distract you. trust me, i know this from experience.- study materials: are what you want and what you need. you don’t need anything fancy. personally, i need many colored pens and highlighters because i have a color-coding system for cases and provisions, but for undergrad, my best weapons were just a black ballpen and a nice mildliner. it’s preferential, and just see what works for you. - on study anxiety: i have mental health issues. i’ve been seeing a psychiatrist (and lately a therapist) for depression and anxiety, and it used to be really, really bad, to the point i couldn’t start. i think the best place to start is to find that kind of help if you really have bad mental health. but if it’s the kind of anxiety that stems from being worried that things won’t turn out well, or that there’s too much to do, it’s always best to start, and to remember that even a little, or something imperfect, is still progress. try it for 5 minutes. if you still can’t do it, rest. but sometimes we just need a little push. other things that really calm my anxiety are a good baroque playlist (check out baroque lute/jordi savali’s the celtic viol/bach’s goldberg variations on spotify!!!), jazz, or lofi, and lavender room spray. i also like to use gifs which help you with breathing techniques. you can find them all over tumblr and twitter. it’s also really helpful to ask others for help when you feel stuck. i’ve asked professors for a little consideration and classmates for advice and clarifications when i’m confused. reaching out to other people is often a great way to start the learning process.
- scheduling: i find it hard to keep on top of things, so i’m really thankful to the classmate who added me to a google calendar with all the class assignments. i think it’s a great system for knowing what the assignments are, so google calendar is your friend. for daily tasks, bullet journals help keep me accountable. i have a really simple one. quick and dirty. ACTUALLY STUDYING: methods, tricks, tips- consider the subject. different classes require different methods. some classes like math and chemistry – which, disclaimer, i have very little experience with – require practice problems. for literature classes, this requires much free analysis, annotations, research, and your own interpretations. other classes like history and geology require the memorization of topics. consider what information you need to learn, and how you want to approach it.- TAKE NOTES DURING THE LECTURE. i can’t stress this enough. if the teacher or professor mentions it, it’s probably important. nowadays, for major classes, i mark the topic on the syllabus with a special-colored highlighter that i won’t use for anything else so i know it’s crucial and will probably turn up on an exam. note: if they place special emphasis on a bit of information because it probably WILL turn up during the exam. one of my professors mentioned that a case would probably turn up during the philippine bar exam and guess what. it did. listen to the professor, don’t goof around on twitter (me to my undergraduate self, tbh), take good notes. make the notes into a reviewer during exam season. pass the class.- pre-studying helps. this is mandatory in law school, because mostly, you go to class to regurgitate what you’ve studied (or didn’t study) on your own from the syllabus. for undergrad, however, it helps to give yourself a background on the material so you can engage in the class, and take notes more efficiently. also, as much as possible, do the required reading. you’ll probably do it in one night anyway before the exam, so at least spread your work out and do a reasonable amount weekly.- on that note: if you’re going to rush through the syllabus and do “a semester’s worth of info” in one night (yes we’ve all seen Those Memes) anyway, it will be less of a pain in the ass to actually do the work slowly and consistently every week. trust me. this comes from a procrastinator who’s getting bitten in the ass, so please learn this as early as you can. it saves you a lot of pain later on.- THE CLASS SYLLABUS IS YOUR BIBLE. it’s all there. before classes, go through it. keep it with you during class and annotate it if you have to. some of my friends like to space the syllabus out on a document file so they use the headings for note-making. the syllabus will be your friend during review season.- always learn actively. if you don’t know a word or term, it will always help to google. make notes in the margins. make flashcards so you state information and retrieve it instead of just recognizing it. form study groups. rewrite your notes. engage with what you’re learning and it becomes so much more interesting, and so much easier. - set a time to unwind religiously. breaks are so important to avoid burnout. i like friday nights for unwinding, family dinners, reading, watching series. please rest. REVIEW SEASON: HOW TO COPE. HOW TO PASS. HOW TO CRY AS LITTLE AS POSSIBLE. - exams are scary. i used to enjoy them, until law school, where i’ve been beaten up thoroughly by every exam. but strangely enough, this is where i only learned how to actually study for an exam with huge blocks of information. i realized that this method really helps for undergrad, and probably will get you honors if you stick to a similarly solid method. - study as early as you can. once you know when the exam is, make a study plan. two weeks is a good minimum. sometimes, there are professors and teachers who announce only a week before, which is unavoidable, so honestly. just make a plan. i tend to assign a set number of syllabus pages to cover/study for on each day so i have time to do a second reading/quizzing. - HOW TO REVIEW: remember the class notes? remember the syllabus? those will help you cover everything you need once you schedule. the syllabus is your map for what you need to cover. assume that everything in the syllabus is something you need to go over at least once, so assign a set number of pages/topics per day. the class notes are your guide on what to focus on. note the special topics which have been emphasized by the lecturer. it also helps if you know what parts you’re very unsure about, so you know what to work on again when you have extra time. i tend to make reviewers out of my class notes, which also helps to retain info, because i go over it again. make time to re-read and quiz yourself. - blanking out on exam day? i can honestly assure you that it’s probably because you didn’t sleep enough. you’ve studied the information, but sleep deprivation either makes you fall asleep during the exam (which has happened) or forget what you learned (which has also happened). if you’ve made the time to repeat what you’ve needed to learn, the studying isn’t the problem. i make a rule to try and avoid all-nighters when necessary because sleep is integral in helping you retain information. when i need extra time to study, i go to bed early, and wake up around 3 or 4 am to study some more. it really helps.DEALING WITH FAILURE: - my professor (a huge businessman, constitutionalist, overall a very successful person) told me that he would not get where he is now if he hadn’t failed. failure is growth because you know you’re doing something. the only true “failure” is when you stop trying. some days are hard, some days don’t yield the results even when you work hard. it’s okay. be gentle on yourself. you are still growing.- sometimes i think about the fact that “gifted child syndrome” aka burnout and perfectionism stem from how many smart kids are often praised for their intelligence and not their work ethic. so when they do badly later in life, they think it’s because they weren’t “smart enough” and give up easily. i think much of doing anything entails a lot of embarrassment, a lot of hard work, and lots of failure. it’s so hard to put up with, and it can often be depressing and unhealthy and put you in a bad place. sometimes we need to talk to someone professional, if it gets to that point. but sometimes, it also helps to realize that a little hard work will help us to get where we want to be. - ask for help. i talk to my friends, my parents, and my professors when i’m stuck. it really helps.ok, whew. i know there’s so much more about studying. but i hope this helps for now. please let me know if you guys want more specific study guides. good luck, loves! you got this.– sam

History Appreciation Week, Day 3: Prince’s/Princesse’s Day
\This is the third entry for @harry-leroy ‘s highly excellent history week.
In the medieval world there were three types of princes. First, the kind of prince that we all think of: the son of a king and often the heir to the throne. Second, princes of the church: bishops and archbishops. Third: the principal ruler of a realm. Today we’ll be looking at one of the third type. I present to you:
Llywelyn Fawr
Llywelyn ap Gruffydd, Llywelyn Fawr, or Llywelyn the Great was the principal ruler of Wales in the beginning of the 13th century. He is responsible for briefly uniting the fractured Wales and is the only Welsh ruler to ever be awarded the title of “Great”.
Llywelyn came of age during a time when Wales was divided into many small kingdoms, each ruled by its own prince. Kingdoms were constantly at war with each other, offering the English ample opportunities to take Welsh land and subjugate Wales to English rule.
At the age of 14 (the age of majority in medieval Wales) Llywelyn went to war against his uncles in order to claim his deceased father’s portion of Wales. Over the span of his lifetime he would go on to defeat other Welsh princes to gradually build a solid, unified Wales.
He married Joan (Siwan in Welsh) of England, a bastard daughter of King John. At the time, Welsh law did not discriminate against children born out of wedlock, giving them the same rights as legitimate children. The husband and wife would go on to have a powerful relationship, with Joan often interceding with her father on her husband’s behalf. During the course of their marriage Llywelyn and Joan would both forgive each other for affairs, ultimately living in reconciliation until Joan’s death.
Llywelyn was responsible for many bold changes in the governing of Wales, primarily the decision to switch from the Welsh inheritance system where all sons inherited an equal share of their father’s property, to the English system where the eldest son was the sole heir. This policy shift was designed to eliminate the Welsh system’s unfortunate habit of inciting fratricide. He also changed Welsh law to favor legitimate children in order to secure Davydd’s (his only son by Joan) claim to the Welsh throne.
Instrumental in creating the beginning of a unified Welsh national identity, Llywelyn Fawr should not be overlooked in favor of later Welsh heroes (primarily Owain Glendwr). His constant attempts to throw off English rule significantly weakened King John, providing some of the leverage that would be used to create what would later become the Magna Carta. As such, he must be remembered as a key player not only in the history of Wales, but also in the history of England.
(I also named my dog after him. Check out @llywelynthelittle )

I like to think if future seasons are made then Julia will become a part of team carmen. that's my personal opinion but what about you? besides the fact they make a cute couple, see any hints that Julia will be in team carmen in the possible future?
It was very interesting in season 1 how Julia theorized "what if Carmen Sandiego were a thief who only steals from other thieves". It seems like that was always supposed to be a big plot point, since it was highlighted in the very first trailer for the series. Chase Devineaux really was hellbent on framing her as a villain, but Julia always looked at the facts and did her research.
I think it’s neat, in general, that there is a character who is on the right side of the law, but who doesn’t view the world as completely black and white, only made of good guys and bad guys. Julia seems very interested in unearthing other’s motives and delving into why villains might become villains and their circumstances for taking that path. Sometimes bad people have good intentions or their actions are out of necessity. Or sometimes seemingly bad people are actually the good guys (like Carmen).
I think for Carmen, at first she didn’t quite understand her motives for stealing from other thieves, so she didn’t have solid reasoning to convince anyone else. When she learned about V.I.L.E., she realized that Carmen and A.C.M.E. were basically fighting the same fight, just in different ways.
Even A.C.M.E. was ready to paint Carmen as a criminal, but Julia stood up for her. In season 1, it was more of a theory, but in season 2, Julia seriously doubled down and stuck to her guns about Carmen being a good guy.
From the very first episode of season 2, she tried to convince Chief that things weren’t as they seemed. Even though Devineaux was in the hospital and Carmen had literally been at the scene of the crime, Julia still believed there was more to the story that they didn’t know. And really, all she had to go off of was her gut feeling and Carmen’s previously kind-of-sketchy track record. But she was so much more sure of herself this season and there was never a point where she doubted Carmen was a good guy and she even trusted her enough to meet with her privately without anyone else knowing where they were (or so Julia thought).
Carmen swiped and then immediately returned Julia’s gas gun, giving her ample opportunity to capture her and look good for A.C.M.E. But Julia doesn’t play like that. Carmen could have just as easily put Julia out of commission, but instead, she recruited her to help save the Medici dresses. Carmen returning the Magna Carta on the train really helped solidify Julia’s theory and was a crucial step in both of them learning to trust each other.
As of season 2, Carmen seems to have figured out that A.C.M.E. and her team have similar goals, except that everyone from A.C.M.E. thinks she’s the bad guy, aside from Julia. I think if Chief hadn’t interrupted their meeting, Carmen would have totally been on board to help A.C.M.E. more long-term. The way Carmen and Chief finally got to talk was really not a great start to a working partnership. And I think the way Julia was double-crossed and how Chief completely destroyed the trust Carmen had in her is probably going to sour her on the whole organization somewhere down the line.
Plus, since we now know about Chief’s past, I think that’s definitely going to be a factor if Julia decides to leave A.C.M.E. Maybe the organization doesn’t carry real guns anymore, but Carmen’s big thing is that she’s not willing to kill (steal lives) to achieve her goals. It seems that, at least in the past, A.C.M.E. totally was.
Now that A.C.M.E. is going to put all its efforts towards capturing Carmen (because she hacked their systems and technically double-crossed them, even if it was for good reason), they might start using more lethal force again. Whether or not they go that far, I think Julia is seriously going to reconsider her career path if A.C.M.E.’s #1 goal becomes trying to capture Carmen.
So, do I think there are hints that Julia might join Team Carmen? In season 1, I wouldn’t have thought so. Now that season 2 has been released, and Julia’s faith in Carmen is at an all time high, I think it’s much more likely that this is actually something the crew has been setting up from the get-go. Having Julia feel so strongly about Carmen in season 2, much MUCH more so than in season 1, really reinforces the fact that she is already essentially on Team Carmen, and always has been.

It's a taken for granted assumption that if they fit your profile, your product or service should be a "fit" for them. But really, how much sense does it make to have assumptions about someone you've never spoken with, much less had a conversation with? How much can you possibly know about their problems, issues, needs, time frame, budget, decision making process, or other key information? Can you imagine how it feels to the person on the other end of the phone when you presume to know what's "best" for them? "You've got to really strike that balance."The Timberwolves will shut down the Target Center as soon as the season is over to complete a major renovation project that began before this season started. That project will make the introduction of a new logo and new colors easier to implement because an existing arena would need to be retrofitted with the new look."There are teams that try to do this with an existing arena and they spend $6 million changing out elements all throughout the arena," Wolves chief strategy officer Ted Johnson said.Still, Johnson estimated the total cost to be in the millions of dollars for changing a logo that is on everything from the facing of the team's practice facility to team stationary. Dark Hunters: Gladiator
Gladiator’s species once lived a peaceful existence, until they were rounded up by the nobles of Stelt and confined to fight in brutal arena matches for the rest of their days. In other words, business as usual on Stelt. Over many centuries, Gladiator saw more and more of his kind butchered before his eyes or devoured by Rahi. To avoid meeting that same fate, he learned to crush his opponents; he learned to please a crowd; and he learned to love doing it. For many more centuries, he let his bloodlust and the crowd’s adoration mask his feelings of resentment and anger towards the authorities... but in a match against Koradak, the face of the noble class which had imprisoned and condemned him, Gladiator could no longer hide it. He went berserk.
After my operatives sprung him from prison, Gladiator was understandably hesitant to agree to fight for another being’s profit. So I allowed him to go free, relocating him to an island far from Stelt and covering his expenses. He came crawling back before a year was up. Having developed a taste for blood, he now found a life of peace, alone with only his thoughts and memories, absolutely torturous. I welcomed him to my employ, promising that he could fight and kill in my name - and this time, he would be amply compensated for his work.
Gladiator has undertaken many missions and always excelled at them, not just the combat-oriented. He especially enjoys missions where he goes up against the propagators and profiteers of the slave trade. Gladiator extends this hatred to the Overseer, and has tried to kill her on multiple occasions. However, he has struck up a friendly camaraderie with Devastator, another brawny titan with an eye for elegant, showy takedowns. The two of them like to advertise a match between them, encourage the other operatives to place bets, then fix the match to turn a great profit. I’m so very proud of them.
POWERS: None. Gladiator is built rather like an enormous, metal tree, complete with root-like tendril-claws that anchor him to the ground. If he gets solid footing, he is practically immovable from his position. His upper arms end in titanic talons, capable of raking through stone and armor with ease, but absolutely useless for any mundane task. He uses his more reasonably sized lower arms for daily life, but has also been known to carry weapons in them to accentuate the whirling death-blades from above. Foes who mistake him for a being of sheer bulk and brawn, however, have made a critical misjudgment: Gladiator has a mind almost as sharp as his claws, and a surprising amount of subtlety. As he puts it, he wouldn’t have lived so long without a bit of cunning.
STATUS: Active. Gladiator has recently learned about the Glatorian tradition of arena combat on Bara Magna, which both intrigues and unnerves him. He has a great deal of respect for the Glatorian, but abject disdain for their prohibition of killing and maiming. Now that Bara Magna is verdant again, the Agori see no further use for the arena system, but Gladiator sees potential for a thriving entertainment industry, and Dark Hunters, Inc. is eager to capitalize on it.

Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin EP#02 - A Promise with Mother.
Food Wars!: Shokugeki no Soma EP#02 - God Tongue: Upon arriving at Totsuki Culinary School, Soma is shocked by its grandness, and how famous it actually is, being one of the top culinary schools in the world. Soma also meets many other chefs, all of whom are descendants of gourmet chefs or heirs to high-class food businesses, who have likewise come to take the entrance exam and transfer in. Due to his background as a low-class diner chef, Soma is looked down on. When it comes time for the examination, most of the participants flee upon hearing that Erina Nakiri, a legendary food genius with the most selective palate known to mankind (nicknamed 'The God Tongue') will be their examiner. For fun, Erina changes the exam and orders Soma to cook an egg dish to satisfy her instead. He creates an ordinary-looking rice with seasoning, only to reveal that the seasoning contains chicken aspic, which enhances the flavor greatly. Despite being overwhelmingly impressed with his dish, Erina fails him, having taken an immediate disliking to his nonchalant and perceived cocky attitude, and feeling that her pride would be threatened if she allowed a person of his social standing to be admitted. Later in the day, her grandfather Senzaemon, the director of the school, tastes Soma's dish and is impressed. He laughs and crumples up Soma's rejected application, implicitly overruling Erina's decision.
Lupin the 3rd Part 5 EP#05 - A Crook's Resolve: After Lupin's publicized demise, Ami is taken in by Zenigata, who has been demoted to narcotics for aiding and then losing Lupin. Soon after receiving a letter from Goemon, Ami contacts Marco Polo and proceeds to their headquarters in order to work out a deal. Marco Polo's CEO, Chuck Glay, instead catches her in a deathtrap, threatening to kill her unless she spills everything about Lupin, including the whereabouts of the money he purloined from Marco Polo. However, this scenario is revealed as a trap set by Lupin for Glay and his fellow instigators of the Happy Deathday game, using Ami's hacking expertise and the aid of his associates Jigen, Goemon and Fujiko. Zenigata, who knew Lupin was too clever to be killed so easily, collars Glay for drug dealing, and Ami, inspired by her experiences, enrolls at a girls boarding school to catch up on the real life she has missed.
Attack on Titan Season 3 EP#20 - That Day: The story of Grisha's youth continues, narrated by Eren drawing on his Titan memory while Armin transcribes it. After the young Grisha takes Fay outside the Liberio Internment Zone for Eldians, they are caught by two Public Safety soldiers, Kruger and Gross. Kruger punishes Grisha while Gross offers to take Fay home, only for her bloodied corpse to be found the next day. Grisha soon learned from his father the history of the Eldians and the Marley nation, how one group of their people fled to Paradis Island and the rest were left behind in Marley to live as second class citizens. Grisha later learns that Fay was murdered by Gross and he joins the Eldian Restorationists rebel movement, supported by the secret informant "Owl". He then marries Dina Fritz, the last remaining Eldian with royal blood on the mainland, and they have a son Zeke who appears with them in a photograph. They attempt to raise Zeke as an infiltrator, but instead he betrays them to Marley authorities. Grisha and his fellow Restorationists are then taken by boat to the perimeter wall of Paradis Island for exile with some being forcibly turned into mindless Pure Titans, through injection of Titan spinal fluid. Grisha recognizes Kruger and Gross among the squad as Gross turns Dina into the Titan that will eventually devour Eren's mother. Gross admits killing Fay and was about to kick Grisha over the wall, only to be suddenly shoved by Kruger and eaten by a Titan. Kruger reveals himself to both the Owl and a Titan shifter as he transforms into the Attack Titan and annihilates the rest of the Public Safety soldiers.
Sword Art Online: Alicization EP#24 - My Hero: With Eugeo dying and Alice unconscious, Kirito fights against Administrator alone. She shocks him by using SAO Sword Skills, stating there is nothing about the system she does not know. The bisected, but human, Eugeo begs him to stand and uses his remaining life and blood to temporarily reform the Blue Rose Sword, which is made of crystal. Dual-wielding, Kirito loses his right arm but cuts off Administrator's remaining arm and deals critical damage. Administrator decides to exit the Underworld and summons the system console, but Chudelkin suddenly regains consciousness and latches on to Administrator, begging her to not leave him. With lingering fire elements still active, Chudelkin and Administrator catch fire, killing them both. Eugeo says his goodbye to Kirito and dies with young Alice's memory. Kirito walks over to the system console and initiates a communication line to the real world where he discovers the Ocean Turtle is under attack. Kikuoka instructs Kirito to take Alice to the World's End Altar in the Dark Territory before getting cut off. Kirito then loses consciousness from Fluctlight damage as the attackers shut the power off at Rath, causing a surge that strikes his comatose body.
My Hero Academia: Provisional Hero License Exam Arc EP#58 - Special Episode: Save the World with Love!: In this anime-exclusive story taking place before the summer training camp, Midoriya, Uraraka, Iida, Todoroki, Asui, and Bakugo are tasked with defeating a villain (played by All Might) and rescuing three hostages (played by Cementoss, Midnight, and Present Mic) in a simulated jewelry robbery. The students begin to investigate the crime scene. After eliminating the possibility of an accomplice who turned against him, Midoriya deduces that Midnight was All Might's lover who called the police and went into the jewelry store to try and stop him, and All Might committed suicide to protect her from the backlash of his actions. Aizawa appears and commends Midoriya for his deductions, but gives the students a zero for failing to realize that All Might had faked his own death as a ploy to escape. In the aftermath, All Might is invited to attend the I-Expo at I-Island by his old sidekick's daughter Melissa Shield, and invites Midoriya to tag along with him, setting up the events for My Hero Academia The Movie: Two Heroes.

Zora is irritated until Asta tells him he never cared about his tactics; he only wanted them to work as a team. Zora has a flashback to his father and decides to cooperate by revealing how his magic works. Kirsch is furious his beautiful spell was ruined by Asta’s peasant magic, and abandons Magna and Sol to attack alone. Asta tries to draw him into Zora's new traps but Kirsch avoids them with detection magic. When I was a kid in school, there were always 2 kinds of students in my mind. The Good Students and the Bad Students. I was always a Good Student. I never talked back, I did my work, I followed every rule to a T. I always felt smugly superior to the Bad Students. The Bad Students didn't care. The Bad Students didn't try. The Bad Students were going nowhere in life. Failures. Useless. Not worth wasting time on. And, I don't know if that was my own Arrogance and Narcicissm, or if something in the system told me that.
Now, I am a (substitute) teacher. I am one of the only Sub on the list who is qualified to Long-Term sub. Meaning, if a Teacher is out for a long time for whatever reason, I am the only one who can fill in long-term. There used to be more, but when you don't give Subs a raise in 30 years, people tend to not want to take that job.
And now that I am a teacher, I have seen how just plain WRONG my assumptions were. Like, I think I get an eyeroll from parents and people who don't teach when I say there are NO bad students. I have found they don't exist.
The students who are labeled Bad usually fall in to 2 categories. The students who struggle and the students calling out the absolute bullshit of the system. The students who struggle desperately need help, and if they don't receive it they just kind of give up. I mean, can you blame them? Who wants to try and try and TRY for so long to see no results? So they eventually give up. And if down the road they run into a teacher who genuinely wants to help them? Who cares! They have already "learned" that their education is an impossibility and not worth the heartache.
And the other group? The one that has seen the absolute bullshit of the system? They are smart! They could do the work! They know how. But what is the fucking point of it? Why do they need to know it? If you can't give them a solid reason, they don't care.
And nothing happens! They still move on. They still get that diploma. As long as they show up and fill a seat, do work every once in a while, they will graduate.
I bought all the bullshit. I was sucked in hook line and sinker. I was the best student. I did everything right. I cared about my grades. I worked hard. I got into a good college. I graduated Magna Cum Laude. I somehow deluded myself that being good at school was all I needed.
Now?
I'm underpaid, overworked, and screwed over by the same school that tricked me into thinking I was better than my peers just because I can follow directions.
So,
Who actually learned more in school?

The Consitution is Unworkable
I used to be a big fan of the Constitution - I thought it was a cool aspirational document. I even have a couple of paperback copies on my coffee table: one from the ACLU and one from the National Center for Constitutional Studies.
Why did I think it was good? I'm not exactly sure. Mostly because it's an unquestionable truth, a given, an unchallengeable and unchallenged veracity.
As I learned about the Constitution, I absorbed the conventional wisdom that you can't have a real democracy without a written Constitution. And it seems like a good idea: let's enshrine the ore tenets of a democracy in a short, concise, aspirational document.
I've been pissed off with British politics for a long time now, starting with the malevolent Maggie Thatcher, through the oleaginous Tony Blair on to the deceitful David Cameron, the faux sincere Theresa May and ending in the very worst position the narcistic proto-fascist Boris Johnson.
The public schoolboy yelling and jeering in the House of Commons - whilst entertaining - doesn't seem like the right way to run a democracy to me... and what do you know? Britain doesn't have a written constitution! In my political naivete and without really thinking about it I would trot out that line, suggesting that British democracy was flawed. And of course, it is flawed, but I don't think the existence or absence of a written Constitution has much to do with anything.
In terms of democracy, government, government agencies and the judiciary, Britain doesn't fair too badly, in fact, in many ways, it's actually better than the US system. It has issues for sure. For instance, the House of Lords is a fundamentally undemocratic institution but it mostly acts uncontroversially, adhering to sensible norms. The fact that the Queen is actually in charge of Parliament is just fucking insane to me - it's not exactly a solid bedrock for a democracy - although it doesn't have much real world impact. Nevertheless, we do have to go through the charade of the Queen opening parliament and the Prime Minister meeting with the reigning monarch. It's not a good look.
Having said that, the British system of government laid the foundations for democracies all over the world and the judicial system - whilst far from perfect - is probably the best in the world. The Magna Carta was the first document to enshrine personal rights and freedoms, notably Habeas Corpus: the right to a fair trial.
And furthermore, the American system is founded on many principles and structures taken from the British system. It should also not be forgotten that the American system was created by wealthy white men who came from British privilege.
But, back to the Constitution. On the face of it, it seems like it's absolutely the right idea: let's lay the foundational tenets for our democracy.
First of all, it has to map out the basic structure of government and that's really the easy part. In that regard, the Constitution is unambiguous. That's a good thing. It's also a bad thing, because it enshrines principles that are fundamentally undemocratic. The Electoral College for instance, which was hastily written in and seems to have been structured as an anti-democratic safety valve that could be used to override the will of the people should they try to elect a President who was too unsavory for the aristocracy. It's an absolutely ludicrous system.
It kinda sorta works despite being crazily structured, but it's not democratic. A lot of the inbuilt problems in the Constitution come from the desire and need to always be thinking about State's rights. Remember that they were constructing the framework for a United States from States who wanted to preserve their autonomy and self-determination. So the Founders were treading a fine line with a focus of creating a viable and acceptable union of the States.
And right here, there's a big problem: the autonomy of the States is kind of antithetical to a United States and the concept of a central government, but the Founders had to thread this needle to make it all work.
You've got to be mindful of the fact that before there was a United States, with adoring masses chanting USA at every conceivable opportunity and waving flags, there was no United States to chant about, so it had to be a good sales pitch.
Hence the Electoral College gave the States the ability to call their own presidential elections as they saw fit. Subsequently, they set down rules in their own Constitutions as to how their electoral votes would be decided. But it's not a good system further to it being undemocratic. Republicans lost the popular vote in 2000 and 2016 but secured the presidency.
The bigger issue is that the system is weak and leaves the door open for abuse - as we are now witnessing. People laughed at the idea of creating alternative slates of electors because it was manifestly illegal. They did it anyway. They almost got wat with it. If Pence had rejected the votes, they would have got away with it. Many pundits suggested that if the VP tried that, the Sergeant-at-Arms would leap up and lead him away in cuffs. But that would never happen. Why? Because half the Senate was complicit, or prepared to be. With half the Senate yelling that this was legitimate, the SOM, who is no Constitutional expert, would have done nothing and the election would have been stayed. Once that happened the nervous State Secretaries of State would quite possibly have acquiesced knowing that the coup could now succeed.
But what about the rest of the Constitution? It strives to be concise, aspirational and to be as generic and all-encompassing as it can be. The idea being that unless it explicitly references a specific scenario then the broad brushstrokes and aspirations of the document apply. The needle is intended to lean towards personal freedoms and the rights of the people.
But - and it's a major but - the Constitution does not enshrine any rights for women. You could say that it doesn't need to because clearly women have the same rights a men, but at the time, they most assuredly didn't. So the Constitution was implicitly misogynist.
Slaves were considered to be 3/5 of a person. That is correctly lambasted by most people. How can you consider a human being to be 3/5 of a person? Wrong! They were in fact considered to be 0/5 of a person. They had zero rights. The 3/5 was simply so that their owners could leverage their slave ownership to garner them more influence in Congress. It was more egregious than treating slaves as 0/5 of a person.
How about the Second Amendment? The Constitution does include any unnecessary verbiage. The clause about the militia is not just padding. At the time there was no standing army. National security was important and the only resources available were the State militias where every able man between 18 and 46 was required to sign up. That context is long gone. State militias have long since disappeared and we now have a National Guard to fulfill that function. The weapons are stored securely and the NG don't take them home with them, yet the statute remains.
To my mind, this highlights the failure and inoperability of the Constitution as a guiding star. Think of all the wasted breath on interpreting what the Founders really meant by the Second Amendment. What if we just had laws that we could repeal or refine without all this fucking nonsense about what the Founders really meant. And I'll add to that by saying that conservative justices really don't care about what the original meaning was.
They talk all this shit about textualism, originalism, purism and so on and it's just fucking word games. The reality is that the Constitution can be twisted like a pretzel by partisan actors who don't give a shit about what it really means.
The difference is that Democrats lean towards individual freedoms and rights and conservatives (I'm being generous here) lean heavily to corporate rights and the rights of their wealthy donors. One side is essentially working ethically and the other is working out of self-interest.
And please be aware that the Justices basically answer to no one. For instance, Justice Thomas did not recuse himself on a case where his wife was implicated and there are no rules to make him do so, nor is there anyone, not even Chief Justice Roberts (conveniently) who can make him do so.
The qualifications to be a Supreme Court Justice are zero. There's no age minimum, no required experience, no seniority level - you don't even need a law degree. To date, every Justice has been trained in law and has had a law degree (they don't want to be too open about their RW activism) and some experience on the Federal bench but Amy Coney Barrett, who is the least qualified Justice ever, has never tried a case in court and was likely given a position on the Federal appeals court simply to prime her for an SC seat a few years later.
So, here's the biggest problem of all: the Justices are partisan appointees with tenure for life and they know that they can make up shit and twist the Constitution to mean whatever they want it to. They hide behind their originalism and textualism, which is all just nonsense, they don't don't even have to believe their own arguments - it's a case of the ends justifies the means.
Yes, the Constitution can be amended but it's very hard to do. Ultimately, any amendment needs to be ratified by three-quarters of the State legislatures. It's highly unlikely to happen ever again while the GQP exists in anything like its current form.
Let's look a few more failings of the Constitution. Let's go back to State's rights. As I said this is kind of antithetical to the notion of a fully united States. We are somehow separate and independent while pretending to be united. But more than that, look at the huge discrepancy that the States create within a putative democracy. Every State has 2 Senators with equal power and influence. California has 40 million residents and Wyoming with a mere 585 thousand. This is not a fair representation by any stretch. In addition, we had the situation where North and South Dakota were created separately, with a current combined population of just 1.5 million just to secure another 2 senators in red states. It's a scam.
Nationwide, Dems required 1.6 times the votes of Republicans to secure the same number of seats. The best democracy in the world? Hardly.
On the surface, a Constitution looks like a good idea, but how do you enforce it fairly, how do get over the huge hurdle of amending it when it becomes murky, out of date or totally disconnected from the current reality? Certainly not when administered by unelected, partisan, under-qualified, under-experienced justices (Robert, Alito, Gorsuch, Barrett and Thomas), with lifetime appointements.
The assumption was that they would be completely impartial and would simply do their best to interpret the document. That is a badly flawed assumption. And even if it were true - would this be a good mechanism? I don't think so.
Let's just legislate and draft laws that are unambiguous. Yes, that does mean that a fascist government could draft whatever laws they want, but they'll do that anyway, regardless of the Constitution and we may be about to find that out.
In summary, the Constitution makes people feel good about adhering to a coherent set of principles but in reality it's not worth he paper it's printed on.
