“YOU SPOKE!!” – Their kids first words (Night Raven 3rd Years-Malleus & Lilia)
Tumblr media
A/n: Yes I ‘m well aware I haven’t updated/posted my other oc request from my event, even though it ended over a month ago BUT it’s getting done and I will try to finish as fast as I can. I ‘m just posting this because it’s been delayed forever and I need something to get my writing juices going.
If you see me mention gender it’s based off of my Twst boys as Parents series that you can find here!!
Warnings: FEM! Reader, pregnancy, domestic fluff, babies(ofc), google translate translations, I’m only doing their first kids/first set of kids
pairing(s):3rd Years x fem!Reader(separate/romantic)
Tumblr media
Yummy/Delicious- Hears you say it everytime Trey makes a really good baked treat(aka all the time). Now I know delicious is probably a hard word for a baby to say which is why I also have ‘yummy’. They say it for the first time after Trey gives them a small part of a macaroon. You could just see how Trey’s eyes lit up when he heard his little one speak for the first time!!
Tumblr media
Smile!!/Cheese!!- The two of you (mostly Cater) always say these phrases to your kids, so it’s no surprise when their first words are smile and cheese. With the family album(that I 100% believe Cater would start making once you get pregnant). When Cater heard his babies speak for the very first time he got super sentimental and excited calling you over(if you weren’t already there)
Tumblr media
Papa!- Now this is solely based on my personal headcanon that Leona’s first kid would be a girl and a total Daddy’s girl. Always with him, even though you carried her for 9 MONTHS, homegirl got evicted from the womb and wanted to follow around papa. I also believe this happened as he was getting something and turned his back to her so she tried to get his attention. His ears immediately shoot up and his eyes open wide. He instantly picks up his cub and rushes over to you to tell you what your daughter just said. But dw, her next word ended up being mama. Is so proud of his little girl~
Tumblr media
Pretty!- You’re always saying this to your husband so she eventually just picks up on it. Also hears other people saying it about either you or Vil; not to mention you and Vil do occasionally call her “pretty girl”. So she’s just surrounded by the word so it's no shocker when it’s her first word. Vil just beamed at his daughter, truly feeling the sentiment. His little girl, his pride and joy has spoken for the first time BUTTTT sadly he wasn’t there to witness it. So all that happened when he came back from work. He almost left early after you told him over the phone. But he could be more proud of his kleiner engel.
Tumblr media
Up!!- Now this is because this little Hunt loves being picked up, especially when her father is flying on his broom. They love the feeling of being high up and flying through the sky with her father. Rook is always open to giving his petit oiseau what they ask. When his little one said their first words he couldn’t help but outburst with joy. He couldn’t stop praising them for speaking, then when you came in or called out to him/your child, he began praising you for giving this wonderful child.
Tumblr media
Play!!/Uh oh- Now 2 things to establish, 1. Ik “uh oh isn’t a word” but I’m just gonna have to count it and I will explain why 2. Why are there 2 different words, well if you read this fic here!!, you’ll learn that I believe Idia has twin boys therefore I wrote 2 different words. Now onto my explanation; for ‘play’ it just makes sense, sitting on his dad’s lap watching him play games that say and display the word ‘play’ on the title screen ofc that would be his kid’s first word it just makes sense. Now for your other twin boy this was his first “word” because whenever Idia gets frustrated on the game at a certain point he hears you say “uh oh”, meaning “Dad’s about to burst”. They also have learnt(bc they're a very smart child) that they can use this for other times when something is about to go wrong so they do say it when something might go wrong. Idia seemed nonchalant at first place but then a smile grew on Idia’s face from his adorable talking twins.<3

ty tumblr for deleting one of my blogs for no reason but i was able to find the text
THIS SCENE WITH RIN IS. SOOOOOO FUCKING FRUSTRATING BC ITS CLEAR WHAT THEY -MEANT- TO DO BUT BOTCHED IT HORRIBLY
i’m copying and pasting this but
so i think this is like. Rin’s second most controversial scene in this entire anime. literally only episode 15 and the fandom war that followed that’s STILL raging to this day can possibly compare, but holy shit nothing else Rin does makes as much discourse as this scene because this one has both people who hate sessrin and people who love sessrin coming togethee to say “hey what the fuck-”
Tumblr media
this is such a weird scene because i feel like. it is simultaneously misunderstood while also really deservedly called out on how it makes Rin look almost borderline sociopathic regarding the fact she’s talking to her kids about the fact things are literally always gonna kill them and i feel like this is a great example of “there are almost two separate characters named Rin in this show” and this one is endemic of like, a kid that never grew up, the one I don’t really like.
so it’s like this
i UNDERSTAND what this scene is meant to convey. that she’s not afraid because she knows her kids are always gonna come out on top.
the fact is: being Towa and Setsuna kinda sucks and it’s always gonna kinda suck even if things are better now. i’ve talked about how much i LOVE when Jakan refers to them as “Rin’s daughters” and not “Sesshomaru’s daughters,” but the fact is to the world at large outside of their social circles- until they build up their own legends properly, they’ll always primarily be “Someone’s” daughters, and more specifically “Sesshomaru’s daughters.”
there’s always gonna be an entire conga line of pissant demons that are gonna wanna take a shot at them for the sole reason that it’ll give them clout. in Final Act Jaken noted that a lot of demons wanted to take on Sesshomaru when he had no sword because even though he was in a severely weakened state with no weapon it’d STILL give them recognition if they killed him. killing his kids give them clout in some capacity. and even if they weren’t his kids, they’re still hanyou- free game to kill for fun and laughs.
so this scene. like.
the intent to me is clearly that she’s this relaxed because she knows there’s nothing they can’t overcome. there’s no need for Rin to be afraid or show fear because they’ll be safe. i truly believe that’s what this scene is meant to convey- laughing at the very concept that Towa and Setsuna can’t overcome an enemy that would challenge them- they’re their fathers kids, her beautiful and beloved children who along with moroha literally saved the entire world twice, once in the modern era and now in the sengoku jidai.
so this scene is mean to be her laughing it off and showing joy despite the macabre subject matter. i totally get it, and i think because of that, i’m less harsh on this scene than some others are. but also.
JESUS CHRIST, RIN
look at her! she looks like she’s a cheerleader at an event or something! it looks joyful! if i was Towa i’d be fucking disturbed beyond words!!! like hey, you just saved the world twice, you had to have a tearful and sad goodbye with your adoptive family maybe forever- and THIS is how your mom talks about things always trying to kill you!? i’d probably ask Moroha, Kagome, and Inuyasha if I could crash at their place for a few days while trying to figure out what the FUCK is my mom’s deal!
“hey moroha uh. my mom kinda… cheered and laughed when talking about things wanting to kill me? think i can like. crash here for a few days or something? think the old guy who gives you bounties would let me stay at his place a few days if i agree to do some work for him?”
like. here’s how i think it should’ve been. and i’m just one western fan with no stakes in anything but like… i kind of imagine something that would’ve been significantly less controversial would’ve been her still smiling at the beginning when giving them gifts, and then her expression getting more serious when talking about the unpleasant stuff, like this:
Tumblr media
and putting on like, a serious face about it. because yeah, it sucks. they can’t JUST live in peace. there’s always gonna be these assholes that are always gonna try to kill them. just because the most dangerous conflict (God willing) in Kirinmaru and the Grim Comet has ended doesn’t mean there won’t be danger- they’re going to be in danger for literally the rest of their lives, and she gets serious when talking about that to her only kids…
Tumblr media
… but they’re both gonna be ok. she smiles again when expressing that. we’re not gonna pretend it doesn’t fucking suck. but they’re always gonna be ok. she has nothing less than complete confidence that they’re always gonna rise above and against everything that tries to harm them. she’s not fucking borderline cheering about it, but she has so much confidence in that, it’s not an opinion to her, it’s a fact.
so she smiles not only knowing her kids are OK, they’re gonna be OK even if things does, but to assure them that they’ll always be ok in the end. at most, there’s a little laugh at it all- “You really are your father’s children, you know? You inherited his power… you’ll be OK no matter what!”
and i feel like that would’ve conveyed what this scene was TRYING To do while also not making Rin seem borderline sociopathic about this fact and treating it like a game little kids are playing or a complete and absolute disregard for her children’s safety just so she can gush about her husband, the husband that Towa literally JUST confided in with her mother that she kind of. resents him a bit for not helping them out (WHICH IF THERE’S A CONTINUATION I WANNA SEE HAPPEN MORE)
i get this scene. i really do. so i’m not as hard on it as others are. but also holy fuck what the FUCK was the animation and voice acting direction with this scene? what the fuck? it would’ve been EASY to make it better!
thank god i found the text its just. SO frustrating bc i LOVE Yashahime, i love Rin so much i don’t CARE what anyone says or even if it’s not that great or anything, its just. i feel like there was a big intent in this scene, but holy shit it was so. bad. it’s executed SO BAD and i can’t get over it
(ALSO ANYONE THAT SAYS TOWA DOESN’T HAVE A RIGHT TO BE KINDA RESENTFUL AT SESSHOMARU CAN FIGHT ME)

Okay if we're still on baby hours what about brand new dad Ed Warren hanging out with less than a week old Judy because Lorraine is asleep and he wants her to get her rest so he's just walking around the house with the baby held very gently to his chest and is telling her all about the house and the baby items her mother has been making for years and how happy he is she's here now and he's maybe crying just a little bit but nobody can prove it
My dear sweet anon, it is ALWAYS baby hours for me. I am never not full of yearning to have a baby.
But yes, fully endorse this image. They've gotten home from the hospital earlier in the day (since Judy was born in the era before they shunted women out of the hospital as soon as possible) and Lorraine's been desperate to sleep in her own bed for a few nights now (especially since this is before the era where men were allowed to stay overnight with their partners - or well, anyone was allowed to stay overnight with their birthing partners) because she sleeps better when she knows Ed is nearby. So she's finally fallen into a deep sleep for the first time since she went into labor, when Judy wakes up from a nap.
At first Ed's definitely terrified that she's going to start crying, because Lorraine's been asleep for all of twenty minutes and he knows she is so, so tired but also so, so insistent on trying to breastfeed.
But Judy is just awake, staring up at him from her bassinet. And like, logically Ed knows she can't really see anything yet, she's five days old, all he is to her is a fuzzy grey blob that doesn't smell like her mother but it absolutely Gets to Him and he scoops her up when she starts to fuss and holds her to his chest, which seems to calm her down. And then instinct tells him to walk, because he knows that babies like when they're rocked so he's just wandering around the house with her. The past six days have felt like a whirlwind, and nothing's really quite hit him yet but it's finally starting to really sink in now that they're home with her.
He thinks about all the baby clothes Lorraine sewed years and years ago, after they were married and was waiting for him to earn his discharge from the Navy. Tiny clothes she brought into their house in her trousseau, thinking they'd be put to use within the year. Tiny clothes she eventually begged him to just throw away, that he instead put into the cedar trunk in the attic, because he can hold enough hope for the both of them, even when the odds seem dismal, because that's what they do for each other.
And now they've been married for close to ten, and their daughter is finally here. She's real, and she's here, and so so tiny and so so fragile and so so precious them. And it is Very overwhelming, to walk around the kitchen in circles with the baby girl you thought you were never going to have, because you think that you're so happy that it's going to somehow be taken away. That you're going to do a big thing badly, because your own father did it badly and without shame, because your mother is faint angelic memory of a woman. He's so afraid but he's so full of love.
Anyway I'll be sitting at my desk staring into my latte now.

Hellenism and the Journey of the Afterlife
Tumblr media
In the original mythology of Hellenism, the Greek Underworld was considered another world or realm where our souls, known as our Shade, is taken after death. In the original Greek afterlife, at the moment of our death the shade is separated from the corpse when Death (Thanatos) reaches out to cut a lock of hair from the corpses head (often referred to as a ‘lifeline’) where it then takes the now unphysical shape of that former person. The Messenger God (Hermes) then transports the shade across the River Styx (the river of hatred) to the entrance of the Underworld. The Underworld is sometimes simply known by the name of its patron god, Hades, and is treated as a resting place for the soul before it drinks from the River Lethe (waters of forgetfulness) and is reincarnated into a new life. Many within Hellenism believe in form of reincarnation and this was a subject broached by many philosophers of the ancient world. However, the journey of the afterlife is the more commonly resonating belief. The Underworld itself is described as either ‘the outer bounds of the deepest ocean’ or ‘darkness hidden beneath the depths of the end of the earth,’ and thus is considered the darkest counterpart to the brightness of Mount Olympus. This realm itself is invisible to the living and made solely for the dead to be used as almost a type of bypass station.
Once Hermes delivers the shades to the entrance of the Underworld, good people and bad people would then be separated. Infront and directly across from the entrance of the Underworld lives the personifications of Grief (Penthos), Anxiety (Curae), Diseases (Nosoi), Old Age (Geras), Fear (Phobos), Hunger (Limos), Need (Aporia), Death (Thanatos), Agony (Algae), Sleep (Hypnos), and Guilty Joys (Gaudia). On the opposite side of the entrance holds War (Polemos), Discord (Eris), and the Furies (Erinyes). Many beasts lay waiting before the entrance of the Underworld, including Centaurs, Gorgons, a Hydra, the giant Geryon, the Chimera, and screaming Harpies. In the center of all this lies an Elm tree, where False and Broken Dreams (Oneiroi) hang from the branches like dead leaves.
Shades that enter the Underworld carry a coin under their tongues to pay the ferryman, known as a Charon, to take them across the River Acheron (river of pain) safely. Within Hellenism, the dead are properly buried with a coin under their tongue as an offering, or like the Trojan hero, Aeneas, who delivered a rare tree branch called a Golden Bough to the Charon. The Charon is permitted to turn shades away, often the shades of the unburied, which cannot be taken from bank to bank without payment, often due to a lack of proper burial. The physical description of the Charon has changed over the years but is often portrayed to be a barren, filthy, hollow-looking human-shaped creature with fire red eyes, a long unkempt beard, and a dirty dark ash cloak.
Once the Charon carries a shade across the river, there lies the mighty three-headed hound of Hades, Cerberus, guarding the gates as well as the Three Judges of the Underworld. These minor demigods are known as King Aeacus; the guardian of the keys to the gate of the Underworld, King Rhadamanthus; the lord of Elysium, and King Minos; the judge with the final vote. It is up to these judges to outline the deeds of the deceased, and they create the laws that govern the Underworld. Most of the laws of the Underworld assured that there was no true justice waiting for the shades of the dead and that they wouldn’t necessarily receive ‘awards’ for how they lived their physical mortal lives.
However, the overall voted outcome for any shade can be changed by Hade's command, if and when he pleased. When the Earth was divided between Chronos and Rheas' three sons; Zeus received Mount Olympus, Poseidon the vast seas, and Hades the Underworld. Hades is rarely seen outside his own realm, regardless of his co-ownership of the Earth, and most punishments shades received were often demanded by other gods seeking eternal vengeance. He was not a tormenter of the dead and sometimes had even been considered the ‘Zeus of the dead’ due to his being so hospitable to them. He did not run his realm on his own, however.
Persephone (Kore), daughter of the harvest Goddess Demeter and Zeus, is often considered a fitting other half to Hades, though their origin story changes depending on point of view. Once, when Persephone was alone gathering wildflowers, she came across a beautiful narcissus flower that was planted specifically for her by Gaia as a favor to Hades, who had fallen in love with Persephone and desired her as his wife. It is said that Hades believed Persephone to be ‘more beautiful than the Goddess Aphrodite’ and would settle for nothing less than her love. The moment Persephone picked the narcissus flower, Hades appeared from a fresh crack in the Earth, riding a golden chariot and carrying the torches of Hekate, on his mission to seduce Persephone into the Underworld. Demeter searched for her daughter relentlessly, begging that the other deities help her do the same. Learning of this abduction infuriated Demeter, leading her to neglect the Earth and forbidding harvest, freezing the grounds until her daughter was returned to her. Zeus, annoyed by the cries of starving mortals, and badgered by fellow deities who heard of Demeter's anguish, forced Hades to return Persephone to Mount Olympus.
Hades complies with the request, but not before offering Persephone six pomegranate seeds for her journey home. It was explained to Demeter that she would be released so long as she had not tasted the ‘food of the dead.’ Unaware of Hade's trickery, Hermes was sent to retrieve Persephone but was informed she had tasted the food of the Underworld and was now bound to its realm. Instead, Hades offered a deal to Demeter; that Persephone may stay in the Underworld for half the year (the winter/fall months) and come back to Earth the other half (the spring/summer months) to be with her mother. Thus, every half-year, when Demeter and her daughter were reunited, the Earth flourished with vegetation and color. But for the latter months each year when Persephone returned to the Underworld, the Earth would once again become cold and barren. This is essentially Hellenism’s explanation for the seasons and in this way, Hades was able to gift Persephone, Goddess of spring and fertility, with being the Queen of the Underworld and his wife, thus ruling over their realm side by side. Persephone helped to give death a more merciful face, regardless of Hades' bouts of kindness toward shades. While Hades was known for being immovable, Persephone even assists several heroes and grieving lovers who stumble down lost into the Underworld. But beyond their realm, and Hades beloved Cerberus, holds the final resting places for all shades; the Isles of the Blessed called Elysium, the Asphodel Meadows, the Mourning Fields, and the Dungeon of Torment called Tartarus.
Elysium, also known as the Elysian Fields, is one concept of the afterlife, described as the place for exceptional beings, often ‘Heroes,’ to eternally reside. As this concept modernized, Elysium was later expanded to include those righteously chosen mortals who are pure of heart. This makes Elysium essentially the Hellenic Paradise, where they may live a blessed, happy afterlife, with grand feasts, and the ability to indulge in whatever their deepest desires may entail. It is said that the philosopher Socrates, and the Hero Achilles, were two of the few who were permitted into this glorious afterlife.
We do not know much about the Asphodel Meadows, other than that it is a section of the Ancient Greek Underworld where the shades of ordinary people are sent to after death. Those who have never committed a significant crime or had not achieved any level of greatness or recognition, reside here. Those who were not permitted into Elysium, and had nowhere else they belonged, spent their afterlife among the Asphodel Meadows realms. Essentially, this is where every day people’s shades settle within the afterlife. Similarly, the Mourning Fields were a concept from the Latin Epic Poem ‘Aeneid’ written by Virgil between 29 BC and 19 BC. This was a section of the Underworld that was reserved for shades who wasted their lives on unrequited love or died of a broken heart.
Tartarus is said to be as far beneath the Underworld as the Earth is beneath the sky. This essentially means that Tartarus was so dark that ‘the night is poured around it in three rows like a collar around the neck, while above it grows the roots of the Earth and the unharvested sea.’ This is where Zeus originally cast the Titans, along with his father, Cronus. It is said that Homer believed Cronus to be the King of Tartarus and that Odysseus mentions some of the people within the Underworld who are experiencing ‘punishment’ were found here. This is the deepest abyss of the Underworld and is used as a dungeon to torment and influence suffering for those who lived a particularly wicked life.
The Greeks believed that there was a great journey into the afterlife, but that the afterlife held no purpose. The souls of the dead still existed, but that they were insubstantial and often too weak and therefore unable to make influences on the living. The shades in the Underworld were now essentially neutral, and that no one was able to use their previous lives to their advantage after death. They believed that death was not a complete end to life, or human existence, but accepted that not unlike life, the afterlife was relatively meaningless. It is said that you are in the afterlife who you are in the moment of your death; meaning someone who died in battle would be covered in blood in entering the Underworld, and those who died in their sleep remained peaceful. The Greeks considered their dead to be irritable and unpleasant on occasion, but they are not necessarily dangerous or malevolent. The souls can grow angry and hostile, and often the Greek's response to this would be a drink offering, or even blood sacrifices to initiate communication.
Unlike its Catholic counterpart, the afterlife in Hellenism does not necessarily revolve around divine punishment. Those who are punished in Tartarus deserved the same level of punishment while living, thus assuring the ordinary and mundane shades an afterlife of equality and simplicity. While some believed in reincarnation and thus the recycling of our shades, it is widely acknowledged that all of our shade's journeys will eventually end. The likely hood of an everyday person passing on and ending up in a sort of ‘hell’ type afterlife is relatively slim in the eyes of Hellenism, and it gives the Greeks a sense of relief in death instead of an intensely instilled fear.

top 5 boba relationships (could be platonic or not)?👁👁
ooh, fun question! :D i’m gonna stick to platonic/familial relationships, since i’m not really big on shipping for boba
boba + jango: i mean, come on, this is basically THE relationship that defines boba’s everything for the rest of his life. how could i not put it at the top? i think there’s a lot of interesting nuance in the relationship between boba and jango that transcends the traditional father-son dynamic. the fact that boba is a clone. the fact that jango asked for him after being the sole survivor of a genocide. the fact that they both lived in such relative isolation from other people. while they were both alive, they seemed to see each other as the only purely good and safe person in a hostile galaxy, someone who had to survive bc there was nothing else besides them. it’s no wonder that, even decades later, boba never really fully heals or moves on from his father’s death. they really were the first clan of two.
boba + beviin: i just... love their dynamic so much ;A; i love the fact that, out of all the people boba could have gravitated to, the person he chose is a cheerful, good-hearted ray of sunshine with an adoption streak a mile wide. like, they really went the “opposites attract” route for their friendship and it works. i also love that, for all his cynicism and unsociability, boba is never portrayed as being annoyed by or “above” beviin’s positive demeanor and, if anything, actually admires beviin for the traits he himself lacks. it brings me joy that the expanded universe really went, “boba fett is cool, but you know who HE thinks is cool? a canonically gay mandalorian who’s compassionate and expressive and in touch with his emotions.” disney would never.
boba + zam: speaking of sweet friendships, boba’s childhood friendship with zam is so flipping cute. it makes me sad that it’s confined mostly to novels aimed at children and tends to get downplayed or erased in more adult-oriented novels. i find the contrast between jango and zam as “parents” quite interesting. jango was a great father, but could also be quite serious and even close-minded—he had a destiny in mind for boba and didn’t intend to let anything disrupt it. zam, meanwhile, encouraged boba to have a sense of humor and to read stories that jango would have labelled irrelevant to boba’s bounty hunting education. i like to think she was the source of boba’s chaotic streak and i wish she got more acknowledgment by, uh. everyone :,D
boba + mirta: honestly i questioned putting this one on the list bc it makes me so sad 😭 but i do think it belongs here bc it fucking wrecks me. there are so many scenes between them that just put me in the ground. boba taking off his helmet to let mirta kill him in a last ditch effort to give her any sort of closure for her mother and grandmother’s deaths. mirta holding boba’s hand as he receives excruciating cancer treatment. boba seeing mirta covered in someone else’s blood and being so fucking scared that it’s hers that he almost starts shaking her. mirta staring at this man she was raised to hate and destroy and just desperately thinking, “do something to make me forgive you. please. anything.” and all of this happening on a backdrop of constant miscommunication and hostility bc they’re both so fucking emotionally stunted and traumatized. basically, this is the relationship i think about when i want to make myself sad :,D
boba + han solo: i already have an entire post about my favorite EU interpretation of boba and han’s rivalry, but to sum up: the drama. the emotion. the subtle homoeroticism. and all wrapped up with a hilarious lack of self-awareness! if disney’s interpretation doesn’t include han stripping while making aggressive eye contact with fett, then what’s even the point. i don’t actually ship these two, but the belligerent sexual tension is too charming not to love.

massive nerevoryn hcs, beware
I have nerevoryn brainworms that torment me day and night, so I answered this ask game under the cut (I did this for myself not for anyone else, pls be nice and ignore it if u don’t like something you see here!)
(A lil clarification: I headcanon Voryn as nonbinary and I use they/them pronouns for them, also they’re ace and afab in my hc, pls look away if that makes u uncomfy) • How did they first meet? They met when Nerevar was hopping from House to House to ask to be supported as Hortator, he just kinda showed up at Voryn's home outta nowhere and was met with 38237 identical serious Dagoth siblings. I can’t think about it without laughing dgsfh
• What was their first impression of each other? Voryn thought Nerevar a fool at first, for coming all the way to Kogoruhn just to ask for political support and to justify /why/ he should be politically supported However, Voryn saw almost instantly that Nerevar was genuine and driven and had strong ambitions for Resdayn, and they ended up agreeing on a lot of things. Meanwhile, Nerevar's first impression of Voryn was...kinda non-existent? He didn't pay much attention to them and didn't differentiate much between Voryn and their siblings. They were all just a bunch of polite goths to him, so he liked them from the beginning 😹
• Did any of their friends or family want them to get together? Voryn's family was neutral and maybe a lil cautious, but ultimately didn't interfere at all and they quickly accepted Nerevar as part of their family Nerevar has no family, though I consider Vivec to be his family in some way. But no, Vivec didn't really want them to get together :') (he didn't like Voryn very much in the beginning, he thought they're boring, too serious, and has no sense of humor LOL but he warms up to them after a while.. he won’t stop messing with them tho, bc they’re rly easy to tease and that’s fun) • Who felt romantic feelings first? Voryn did. Nerevar's feelings only started ages later, he's not really the type to sit down and analyze/reflect on his feelings, so he didn't realize he had romantic feelings until they hit him full force LOL • Did either of them try to resist their feelings? Voryn tried, but gave up and opted for hiding their feelings instead of suppressing them 😔 • If you had told one of them that the other would be their soulmate, what would they think? They would believe it. Nerevar wouldn't immediately assume it means "romantic soulmate" though, he already sees Voryn as a very close friend so the news that they're soulmates makes perfect sense to him. On the other hand, Voryn wouldn't be surprised to find out they're soulmates, but they'd feel like it's a cruel thing to do to them both, since they can't be together openly and in the way that they want to be. It would be heartbreaking to them :’/ • What would their lives be like if they had never met? Voryn's life would've remained quiet and uneventful, most likely. And they wouldn’t have ended up the way they did in canon.  Nerevar is an unpredictable mystery though so I have no idea, maybe he'd go down a different path and take some impulsive bad decisions in his life 🤔 oh wait he already does that nvm • Who initiated the relationship, and how did it go? Nerevar initiated it. Voryn has had feelings for him for a very long time, but at first they didn't want to be in a relationship with Nerevar due to how complicated it would be, but yeah...they couldn't ignore their heart's call, and definitely couldn't refuse Nerevar when he started returning the feelings :') • Did they have an official first date? If so, what was it like? YEAH!! I have no idea though! It would've been secret but very nice and romantic :'D • What was their first kiss like? It was intimate, and heavy. It was packed full of years of suppressed feelings and wishes. Voryn may have teared up a bit lmao • Were they each other’s first anything (kiss, relationship, etc.)? Nerevar has already had relationships (though nothing long-term) and has had...experience with ppl, in all meanings Nerevar WAS Voryn's first everything though! Mainly because Voryn has never had much interest in ppl before, and just the thought of kissing grosses them out, unless it’s with the right person ofc uwu • What’s their height difference? Age difference? Nerevar is 6'1 and Voryn is 5′6-5'7, they're the same age though! • What’s their relationship with each other’s families? Nerevar likes the dagoths. They don’t pry into his business (ahem, affair*) with Voryn and they always welcome him to Kogoruhn with no problem (aka they tolerate his out-of-nowhere appearances and occassional odd behavior). He finds it a bit unsettling that Voryn has so many siblings but he doesn’t question it. Voryn tries to get along with Vivec, even tho the younger makes it difficult. Voryn is an older sibling, so they have the patience to deal with a younger moodier mer who’s hellbent on disliking them for no reason LOL • Who takes the lead in social situations? Nerevar does, Voryn is really awkward at socializing and hates doing it too 😹 • Who gets jealous easier? They both do, but their jealousy manifests in different ways. Nerevar is much more vocal/open about it. Voryn doesn't give him any reasons to be jealous tho, at least not on purpose 🤧 • Who whispers inappropriate things in the other’s ear? UHH neither of them does 😳 ...unless they've been drinking, then they both do it fjdhsn (Voryn won’t say anything explicit tho, just rly cheesy declarations of love or something SOBS) • Who said “I love you” first? Voryn said it first, but only after Nerevar had already confessed his feelings :’) they needed to be sure they wouldn’t get rejected bc that would just break their heart tbh • Who uses cheesy pick-up lines? Both do, but they mean it in all seriousness, and they believe every word the other says. • How often do they cuddle/engage in PDA? PDA is a big no-no for obvious reasons, unless it's only around trustworthy ppl like Alandro Sul and Voryn's family. Yes, Alan my boi is chill with all of this hehe • Who initiates kisses? Nerevar. He's very touchy uwu • Who’s the big and little spoon? Nere's the big spoon, usually. Voryn's like...a stick...though they can get clingy in their sleep /sobs • What are their favorite things to do together? Having time to spend together is rare for them, so they treasure every little moment they have. They both prefer spending time completely alone with one another, somewhere far and secluded where they can’t see or hear any other people. Nerevar needs moments of quietness to recharge after dealing with so many ppl in his daily affairs, so he really appreciates Voryn’s company bc their energy is very calming and they’re just quiet and pleasant in general.... they’re the type to sit in comfortable silence and just lean on one another as the world fades around them :’) • Who’s better at comforting the other? They know each other very well, so they're both amazing at comforting each other, except it's a lot easier for Voryn to comfort Nerevar solely because Voryn isn't as open about their emotions as he is, and doesn't want to worry Nerevar with anything, so they keep their emotions/pain private much more than Nerevar does. Nere's more open about things that bother him and spills his soul out to Voryn often lol • Who’s more protective? Oh gosh they are both overprotective of one another, they live dangerous lives after all. However, Voryn's the type to get physically sick by worrying over Nerevar's well-being... Nerevar doesn't handle it any better tho, he would become very spooky and destructive if anything happened to Voryn 👀 • Do they prefer verbal or physical affection? Nerevar prefers verbal affection from Voryn, because he knows Voryn’s words are always truthful. Voryn prefers physical affection from Nerevar though, because they know he uses verbal affection with a lot of people, so the physical kind feels more personal and genuine to them u_u • What are some songs that apply to their relationship, in-universe or otherwise? ... I must warn u. my taste in music is maybe TOO happy/sappy for these two, but anyway.. here u go (all these songs are from Voryn’s POV): 1. the lyrics and overall aesthetic and feel of this song.. it suits them in my hc a lot :’( 2. by the same singer, this song HHNGN the lyrics just make me think of how voryn sees nerevar 3. something even more light-hearted... sorry there’s no eng subs but trust me the lyrics are beautiful, the bridge especially makes me cry it’s so pretty.. and 「美しい心を持っている、ずっとこの海よりも深い」 😭 BASICALLY ANY LOVE SONGS MAKE ME THINK OF THEM 😭😭 • Who remembers the little things? Voryn's memory is impeccable. Nerevar is kinda airheaded, he doesn't remember things consciously but he remembers them in his heart • If they get married, who proposes? Voryn does! Though it's not a typical proposal, because their relationship isn't typical either. They simply propose that they both should undergo a ritual to bring them (more specifically, their souls) closer together... It’s the same ritual that Voryn’s mother did to their father, and they learned it from her before she disappeared/passed • What’s the wedding like? Who attends? It's a secret one, so no one attends it besides the two. It's not a wedding though, it's more like a romantic ritual conducted by Voryn themself, where they link their souls/hearts together :') it happens at nighttime in a secluded place, probably a cave with an open sky... somewhere in nature far away from any civilization • How many kids do they have, if any? What are they like? They have one very rambunctious but sweet daughter! She inherits a LOT of Nerevar’s looks and personality, even his ideals and stuff (once she grows up) • Do they have any pets? Nerevar doesn't have any, but he loves animals. Voryn's home has plenty of domestic animals/creatures though, much to Nerevar's joy 👌 (yes I hc the dagoths to be farmers bc I love the thought of a goth farm) • Who’s the stricter parent? Voryn. Though they're still very mild, just. more cautious about parenting than Nerevar is?? And unlike him, they actually teach their kid manners djfnsf • Who kills the bugs in the house? VORYN. They have no fear of bugs and actually know how to handle them really well! • How do they celebrate holidays? Not together :'( </3 • Who’s more likely to convince the other to come back to sleep in the morning? Voryn. Nerevar's an early morning person, while Voryn just wants to be lazy and stay in bed until noon. Voryn has sleepy b* disease • Who’s the better cook? Dare I say both??? >:)c Voryn likes baking more than cooking though, so when they have the time for it, they like treating Nerevar with sweets u_u✨ Nerevar doesn’t really have a sweet tooth though, he’ll just engulf anything that Voryn or their family cooks LOL

okay everyone shut up leave me alone Jack Frost (1979) maplekeene au under the readmore i have to get it out of my head or else i won’t be able to sleep
argo is jack frost bc blue skin and desire to be seen/appreciated by others. they call him “jack frost” bc of the original bearer of the title--jackal--who they nicknamed jack frost
jackal retired from the position of going down to the human world and making sure winter happens, and then argo picks up the position
father winter is hieronymous bc it’s a bigass dude with a beard like. c’mon. EITHER THAT or its mother winter so it could be shebrie. i haven’t thought deeply about this part
snip is hieronmyous and holly is firbolg. they both know far too well about argo’s obsession w the human world and its inhabitants
elisa is fitzroy but his motivations and personality are completely different (since elisa suffers from Female Rankin/Bass Love Interest Disease).
he isn’t outwardly “in love” with winter and jack frost more than he just enjoys the season because of the freedom it allows. it is also the season his mother enjoyed the most (in past tense bc in this one...she dies! for good reason i’ll explain). he does kinda “talk” to jack frost a lot, since he hasn’t got many friends and he quite enjoys walking around the woods alone. this is how argo comes to know and become slightly enamored with his mortal lad (i say mortal bc i’m still working w the fantasy races--aka a good excuse for argo to keep his blue skin)
kubla kraus is the commodore. big asshole man with a beard. controls everything by being a lying, cheating, evil bastard. has no friends. yeah that’s him alright
sir ravenal rightfellow is buckminster!! and his importance to the plot is Completely Different from the movie. i will explain now:
okay so PLOT is that argo is jack frost, the winter spirit who comes to nua (aka january junction) to make sure winter runs smoothly. he is fairly new at this job (the original jack frost being jackal, who has now retired in the land of the winter where all the winter spirits live. he’s sorta argo’s mentor in jack frosting and warns argo not to get too attached to the mortals, but argo’s heart is simply too kind for that to not happen.
argo develops a very deep love for mortals and their mortal ways, but is saddened by the fact that he cannot participate in their fun. winter and winter again, he returns to this poor village and gives them the means of living and joy, but he can’t even reveal himself to them!!! because he’s a winter spirit and mortals cannot see winter spirits. so it leaves argo feeling sorta dejected, even as he continues to watch the mortals he’s grown so fond of
fitzroy, on the other hand, is a native to this village. imma just call it January Junction bc i like that name a lot. he grew up here with his mother and father (though his father very quickly excused himself from the picture because i hate stable fathers <3). fitzroy and his mother are as poor as anyone else in the village--which is to say Very Very Poor since kubla commodore owns all the money and supplies in january junction. then, when fitzroy is about 13 or so, his mother suddenly falls ill and dies. before she passes away, she tells fitzroy that there’s documents in the kingdom about a week’s travel (by horse) away that he’ll “need when he’s older”.
for a very long time, fitzroy doesn’t know what that means
in any case, he ends up being taken in by gordie and his husband to grow up with rainer, his childhood friend. though he eventually becomes acquainted with other kids around january junction that he hadn’t really socialized with before (buckminster and leon, rolandus, zana, rhodes), he finds himself more inclined to solitude.
especially during the winter, the season when his mother passed away
despite the sadness of it all, fitzroy doesn’t find himself so glum when he’s out amongst the woods. winter is just so...beautiful. almost ethereal. he’s known about the myth of “Jack Frost” for years, so he begins just...talking to him. well, “talking”, since jack frost isn’t Real.
once argo becomes jack frost (right around when the two are like. idk 18), though, he becomes the recipient of these rants.
that’s when argo’s infatuation with mortals becomes a very deep desire. not bc he’s like In Love w fitzroy or anything (not yet), but because he feels like he really has a friend in fitzroy!!! someone is out there who actually cares about him!!! and talks to him about things!!! even if argo has no way of responding
so one year (aka the year the movie takes place) argo is especially despondent about this, when kubla commodore nearly kills fitzroy in his ignorance
if you’ve never seen the movie, kubla kraus rides a mechanical horse onto a frozen lake and nearly kills elisa by making the ice crack and send her careening towards a waterfall. assume that happens here
argo saves fitzroy by freezing over the waterfall and fitzroy exclaims “oh, jack frost, where would i be without you?” sorta just like an exclamation. but argo takes this to heart. where Would fitzroy be without him?? he’s been around this guy for so many years!!! hearing him vent about not being able to afford knight school, losing his own dream while buckminster and rolandus run off to live it for him. offering him advice (that fitzroy cannot hear) when fitzroy expresses how much he Hates doing manual labor for no pay. even being a (frozen) “shoulder” to cry on when the grief becomes too much!
and where would Argo be without fitzroy??? the man has practically become the sole reason argo gets excited for winter anymore, and he worries about the half-elf the whole year after.
so argo makes a decision that day, heads back up to the winter realm in the clouds, and begs father winter to let him become mortal
father winter is, of course, Not willing to let argo do that because he knows how mortals can be. argo argues that it isn’t fair that he has to spend the rest of his eternity watching these mortals live, get older, fall in love, and appreciate his work--all while he just watches silently, unloved, in the background
father winter is moved by this and grants argo mortality for One Winter under this condition: if argo cannot find One literal reason to remain mortal, then he shall return to his spirit form.
(this is a slight divergence to the original condition of “you must obtain a house, a horse, a bag of gold, and a wife” bc i’m modernizing it slightly okay it’s not just abt marriage now)
argo is confused by the wording, so father winter goes on to give him examples: finding a job that is meaningful, finding a person who loves him, etc. and then argo is off
before he leaves, he says goodbye to higglemas (also known as “snip” since he makes the snowflakes) and the firbolg. snips gives him his lucky pair of scissors that have the word “snip” etched into the side of them. yes this will be important
argo goes back down to earth, becomes a mortal, and crash lands in the woods where fitzroy is
fitzroy is slightly baffled to see just a random stranger in the middle of the woods, but the dude seems lost and Very confused so fitzroy offers to warm him up and help him out back in january junction. fitzroy lives in a sorta commune situation with leon, rainer and zana (they’re engaged), rhodes, and rolandus and buckminster (whenever they come home). the group welcomes argo in warmly and argo finds himself feeling right at home with this crowd of early-to-mid-twenty-year-olds
argo almost introduces himself as jack frost--as he is known by myth--but catches himself before he can reveal that. he calls himself “argo snip” (bc of the scissors and the fact that his name is actually argo), a tailor in need of business. rainer--a seamstress herself--is more than happy to have someone else in the town to work on fabrics with, and the shop that rainer runs in the house expands to allow argo’s tailoring business
while this is happening, father winter tells higgs and firbolg that they have to go down there and make sure argo doesn’t die. so now they’re human and they end up finding argo at the house. higglemas introduces himself as higglemas wiggenstaff, and the firbolg just doesn’t say anything and lets argo come up with the name “bud holly”. they are now Also tailors, which is good bc argo cannot sew.
for the few months of winter, argo enjoys life in january junction quite a bit. though things are kinda bleak, since kubla commodore owns all the gold, the town keeps itself in high spirits during the winter. argo and fitzroy Especially end up bonding during this time, and fitzroy’s solitary walks through the woods soon find themselves one additional member.
this is about the time where argo realizes “ah fuck, i think i’m in love with this fool”, which is when he realizes the One Meaningful Thing he’s meant to live on the mortal world for: fitzroy
fitzroy, meanwhile, also finds strange feelings developing for the eccentric genasi. but he’s a lot more emotionally constipated, so he won’t say much about it yet.
it’s a few days before christmas and argo and fitzroy are talking alone--the house empty for some reason (a rarity but a blessing). fitzroy is embroidering something that argo’s recently sewn as they talk, and he accidentally pricks himself with the needle. argo immediately reaches out and cradles his hand, which is when fitzroy notices for the very first time just how Cold argo is. argo laughs it off and claims that it’s bc he’s “cold-blooded” but fitzroy just sorta laughs and goes “i never said i minded...”
for some reason, this causes argo to look up at fitzroy, and the two realize how close they’ve gotten since argo grabbed fitzroy’s hand. the two are flushed, nervous, but argo dares to move forward to finally capture those lips in a--
BANG! the door flies open as a shorter man, clad in gold armor, stands in the doorway. fitzroy jumps up--first startled, then elated--as he realizes Sir Buckminster Eden has finally returned home!!!
argo reads this reaction the Entirely Wrong Way and is instantly jealous of buckminster. poor, poor idiot doesn’t realize buckminster and rolandus have been doing circles around each other since they were teenagers...
then it’s christmas!!! everyone’s too poor for gifts so they hand out invisible ones (like the movie), but buckminster has an Actual gift for fitzroy (which argo, again, takes the completely Wrong Way). the gift is a sealed parcel from the royal parliament, instructing that fitzroy Cannot open it until he is 24 years of age. fitzroy’s birthday just so happens to be the day after christmas, and somebody is Very Aware of this fact...
...that person? oh, it’s kubla commodore, of course! who kidnaps fitzroy later on that day when his guard is down. kubla commodore throws fitzroy in a dungeon and keeps the parcel amongst his many piles of gold, determined to keep its contents away from the one intended to see them
argo finds out about the kidnapping and the whole group is sprung into action to save fitzroy. but, since argo has none of his winter magic, he isn’t really able to be the help he wants to be. buckminster--having knight training--is able to scale the mountain quicker than argo, fight off the k-nights, and break fitzroy out of the dungeon.
argo doesn’t know this because he attempts to scale the mountain from the other side with higgs and firbolg, where he is captured by the remaining k-nights. now They’re locked in the dungeon as kubla commodore vows to send a thousand k-nights down to january junction to “wipe out the insubordinates”
argo has no way of breaking out of the dungeon because he has no magic. so, in a moment of desperation, he calls back to father winter to turn him back into a winter spirit. he returns to his jack frost form--which is incorporeal--and begins to freeze over kubla commodore’s castle (try saying that five times fast)
with argo back as a spirit, higgs and firby aren’t needed as mortals, so they return to the land of winter to do their winter work
meanwhile, in january junction, fitzroy is Freaking Out that they can’t find argo in this freak blizzard. he tries venturing out into the tundra himself, but buckminster and the gang holds him back, telling the half-elf that they’ll look for argo when the storm clears
oops, the storm doesn’t clear! because argo keeps up the insane blizzard for the duration of winter (though he focuses a majority of the intense weather on the castle to seal kubla commodore inside). eventually, though, father winter notifies argo that spring is soon approaching. argo is like “why” and father winter explains: “okay so basically a tiny useless groundhog comes out of his hole every year and if he sees his shadow then winter dies immediately”
who’s the groundhog? why, it’s Gotta-Go Gary!! who argo scares the living shit out of to make 6 more weeks of winter happen
after the extended 6 weeks are up, father winter tells argo that winter will end at noon on that final day. argo is like “if winter ends, then kubla commodore is going to Kill Everyone” and he bargains with father winter to be mortal once more (since he Still has till the end of winter to find his One Meaningful Thing) to set things right.
he goes back down, defeats kubla commodore (too much to explain, shenanigans is how i can describe it best), and realizes he has everything he could possibly ever Need now to offer fitzroy in exchange for his hand in marriage
you see, argo learned during his time as a mortal that marriages have dowries? and now he suddenly has a castle, a horse, and all the town’s gold in his possession so that seems dowry enough. also he thinks marriage is the only option to prove to father winter that Love is a meaningful thing enough to be mortal for
however, when he finally gets to january junction, he sees...a wedding?? who’s getting married?? and then he sees buckminster in his suit of armor, looking rather pleased with himself, and argo immediately assumes that buck and fitz are getting hitched
he storms over there and rants at buck about how He’s the one in love with fitzroy and how much He sacrificed to ensure fitzroy’s safety and happiness. and buckminster is like “woah, woah, woah, friend!!! one, uhhhh where the Fuck have you been??? two, rainer and zana are getting married dawg. fitzroy is right over there, helping rainer with her dress”
just as argo spots fitzroy, fitzroy spots argo. and Boy does fitzroy look Pissed. he storms over to argo, ready to chew him out, when suddenly the church clock begins to sound and argo looks panicked. he grabs fitzroy by the shoulders and is like: “i don’t have time to explain much but i have a house a horse and so much gold to offer you if you agree to marry me right now”
fitzroy is like “???? hello??? what??? first off, where the HELL have you been. two, marriage??? m-moving a little fast there huh--” and argo is like. freaking out bc he knows by the final sound of the bell he will be a spirit forever and so he just very quickly explains how He’s jack frost and he trapped kubla commodore in ice for the whole winter so he wouldn’t come down here and kill him and everyone else and if he doesn’t prove to father winter that his love for fitzroy is enough to want to remain mortal then fitzroy will never see him again. and fitzroy is like. flustered honestly but also rlly panicked bc like. he’s 24!!! he doesn’t wanna get married bro!!!!
basically he’s like “argo i--i Do love you, but. marriage? it doesn’t have to be that Now like--we have time!!” and argo is just like. split-second decision says “kiss me” and fitzroy doesn’t even hesitate in doing so because Dang he’s been thinking about that for A While
and as the final gong sounds and argo’s form begins to shift, argo breathes a final winter’s breath into fitzroy.
then something...changes. argo realizes, as the bell begins to fade, that he hasn’t phased through fitzroy’s body. and as fitzroy feels this cold air pass through him, he suddenly finds himself...unable to feel the chilly hands cupping his face. when they part, argo realizes what has happened.
fitzroy doesn’t look Too much different, but he’s definitely changed. his skin glows only barely, his eyes have a ring of winter-blue around the iris, and there’s a streak of snow-white in his hair. his outfit has also become a glittery, royal-looking affair--COMPLETELY different than the formal peasant clothes he was in seconds before
meanwhile, argo has returned to his jack frost attire and look, but he can still be seen!!! by everyone around him!!! and by fitzroy!!!
turns out, father winter saw that argo would be unhappy as either human (with friends and his love, but none of his friends or the satisfaction of giving people winter joy) or spirit (with his job and spirit friends, but without his mortal friends and love) and basically turned him into a demigod. demispirit? half-and-half. and, in order to guarantee fitzroy would be able to travel between the places, he Also made fitzroy into a partial winter spirit.
all of their friends are like “oh shit did you two kiss??? also why do you both look so fruity” and then the wedding happens. they hold the reception in kubla commodore’s castle, where fitzroy is finally able to read the parcel!!!!
what does the parcel say?? well, turns out fitzroy’s mother was a descendant of a line of royals. and, though she was not signficant enough to rule an entire kingdom, her father had granted her ownership of the village she chose to raise her son in. the kubla was only supposed to be a temporary position, until fitzroy’s mother was settled down enough. but kubla commodore liked his wealth too much!! so he poisoned fitzroy’s mother and made sure to keep fitzroy Extra poor so he’d never have the ability to find the proof of inheritance himself. when buckminster became a knight, he swore to fitzroy that he’d find these documents fitzroy’s mother mentioned on her deathbed.
okay so ending shit. fitzroy gives ownership of the village back to the people. wealth is dispersed, things are fixed, everyone is happy. buckminster and rolandus get together, rainer and zana take over the castle and turn it into a BIG ol spot where those without a home can have lodging, and everyone is happy. fitzroy is Finally able to travel and see the things he’s never gotten to see, while also achieving some of the “bringing people happiness and safety” thing that came w his desire of being a knight by helping argo spread winter throughout the world. the two of them sorta go back-and-forth between their cozy little cottage in january junction, going across the globe to maintain the cold, and going up to the winter realm to see higglemas and firby and father winter.
they’re in love, everyone is happy, rankin/bass Bite My Ass
just kidding i love you and your silly little movies

Headcanon: Beck’s Forms
I might break this off and eventually do a hc for every form she can shift into and explain how she got the ability and why she chose to pursue it, but I’m going to start with what I have on my white board rn (bc I need to erase it lmao).
Fox Form:
Tumblr media
This is one of Beck’s two main forms that she can take. The fox, along with the cougar, represents core pieces of Beck’s personality and she resonates with them the most.
The Fox was Beck’s clan symbol, so she was born with the ability to shift into it. Unlike most witches, Beck made her first shift very early, earmarking her as a feral witch, which lead to her being ostracized from her community in many ways. Beck is well liked, but people are fearful of feral witches, and are generally happy that she doesn’t want to stick around a long time.
Time Limit: None First shift: 3 Touchable: Yes. Highly encouraged. Does frequently bite. Will claim it’s affection. Shifts: When she’s comfortable/playful/affectionate/curious/neutral
Cougar Form:
Tumblr media
The second of Beck’s main forms. Beck gained this form when she was 13 and attacked by a mountain lion. She was at a point in her life where she was feeling a lot of guilt for leaving Fenris, and she often considered going back, and mourned the fact that she had no place in what she saw as regular society. When she was attacked, she saw herself in the animal before her. It too was living on the fringes of society, starving, struggling, trying to stay somewhere it didn’t belong. She took her attack as a sign that she needed to embrace the part of herself that was truly wild, and not to be so guilty about her brother.
Time Limit: None First Shift: 13 Touchable: Yes depending on the mood she’s in. Shifts: Both when she’s comfortable/happy/affectionate and when she’s frightened/threatened
Wolf Form:
Tumblr media
If you’re encountering Beck as a wolf, you’re probably either someone she deeply trusts or in a very precarious situation. Beck learned this form as a very young child, at an age when learning a second form was practically unheard of. She wanted to be like her father and her brother, who could both take wolf form. However after her father’s death Beck stopped shifting into this form. So she only really shifts into it in order to serve a specific purpose (be it protection/hunting/etc).
Time Limit: 48 hours First Shift: 5 Touchable: A hard maybe. Read her mood. In general she wants her space in this form. Shifts: When she’s frightened/startled or when she needs to hunt
Horse Form:
Tumblr media
Horse form is another form that came to Beck pretty young. She was only around eight when her familiar, a horse named Dawnbreaker, taught her how to take horse form. She was so young that she was still a small filly in horse form for several years. Beck mostly learned this form because she loved Dawnbreaker. Her familiar practically raised her and shaped much of who she became as a person. So much like the wolf with her father, Beck wanted to learn to be a horse to be like Dawn. She also was around horses from the day she was born, and she has a deep love and appreciation for them.
After Dawnbreaker was murdered, Beck stopped shifting into this form for some time, it was only when Grani joined her as a familiar that she began to return to horse form. Beck will spend days as a horse. She enjoys racing and roughhousing with Grani in this form, but she is extremely skittish as a horse. This is not a form where she has a lot of control over her animal instincts, and she’s prone to spooking.
Beck is NOT RIDEABLE. Even if she starts out calm she will take about .004 seconds to lose her shit and start running with you. She’s got a ton of stamina in this form, which she can bolster either subconsciously or purposefully through her magic, and she is fast as hell, meaning if she takes off with you she will run faster and longer than any horse should.
Time Limit: About two weeks. First Shift: 8 Touchable: Eventually. She will frequently come up to sniff or touch a person in this form, only to spook three seconds later because they sneezed. Shifts: Normally only in the wild, but also on request.
Bear Form:
Tumblr media
Beck learned this form specifically as a means to defend herself, but honestly she mostly just uses it to fuck around. She learned the form while spending time roaming in the Canadian/Alaskan wilderness, just sort of following the bears around and forming connections with them. Beck in bear form often calls herself Bearck, and spends the majority of her time trying to give people puppy eyes and cute waves so that they feed her food.
A couple of years after learning to shift into a grizzly, Beck traveled even further north and learned to shift into a polar bear.
However, she is a bear, and she comes with the power of a bear. If you piss her off in this form, she will smack you with her dinnerplate sized paws... or worse. Terrifyingly, bears have one of the best senses of smell out of all terrestrial mammals. This means if Beck needs to sniff someone out it’s not going to be as a fox or a wolf---but as a bear.
Time Limit: 2 days First Shift: Around 20 Touchable: 1000 percent. Will try to sit on your lap. Will crush you. Shifts: when she’s directly threatened or when she’s relaxed. Not a hyper form. Often times she’ll do it as a prank.
Hawk Form:
Tumblr media
Hawk form is the final an least frequent form you’ll find Beck in. She can change into a cooper’s hawk in all verses (or at least something akin to it), but in many verses Beck is actively trying to learn how to shift into a Peregrine Falcon just for the sheer joy of it, but the process it taking her a lot of time. She learned this form for the sole purpose that she wanted to know what flying was like and she does not regret it.
Time Limit: 4 hours First Shift: About 18 Touchable: Absolutely not. She will bite the ever living shit out of you. She’s very small and extremely uncomfortable with touch in this form. Shifts: In wide open spaces, when she’s comfortable, or if she needs to spy on someone without being noticed.

a dispute me and a friend can't seem to agree on, but i wanted to know your opinion: should have kim never bothered with jimmy, or should she had to put her foot down and made a better effort at communicating?
Hoo boy anon, this question has been weighing on me with the last episode (5x3) and the insider podcast to 5x2, which I just listened to the morning after I watched 5x3.
But I want to rephrase your question a little bit and ask: would Kim’s life have been better without Jimmy in it? and my answer is no.
Spoilers for season 5 up to 5x3 and the insider podcast 5x2 below.
The Kim we’ve gotten to know during the course of BCS is a very closed-off, tightly-wound person, who moves through the world with a deep sense of wariness, or caution, or suspicion, and we’ve only gotten tiny clues to why she’s so closed off as the series has progressed.
She has no close friends other than Jimmy - she’s even distant with Ernie when he calls her, and you never see her socializing with her fellow associates. When she makes her cold calls during 2x5, she’s constantly reminding her targets who she is and where she’s met them, usually at an ABA mixer or other professional networking event.
Her professional relationships are few and far between, and have become extremely transactional as the show progresses. Howard is, of course, an absolute nightmare who uses petty office politics to oust Kim to the cornfield whenever she inconveniences him. But even Rich and Kevin are only friendly to Kim when she’s of use to them - either building Kevin’s dream of an expanded Mesa Verde, or “keeping the lights on” by focusing on paying clients. This is, by the way, after Kim has explicitly offered to build Schweikart’s banking practice in exchange for the kind of resources needed to allow her a pro bono practice.
Finally there’s Paige, where there was a chance at real friendship. Kim even admitted to Paige her hesitations about taking down Chuck, something she couldn’t do with Jimmy. But Paige turned cool when Kim didn’t demonstrate that she’d be at Mesa Verde’s beck and call, showing Kim that while they can be friendly, they can’t be friends. (This is not, by the way, Paige’s fault - Kim fucked up by her evasiveness to Paige when Paige had the legitimate expectation that Kim had no other professional obligations. Despite this, Kim’s instinct is to shut the relationship down once Paige’s amicability proved to be transactional.)
Then there’s family. The creators have pointed out on the podcast that Kim has no personal or family photos in her apartment. Further, Kim has mentioned only four family members (or in one case a group of family members) over the course of the show: 1) her grandmother who died tragically; 2) her scumbag cousins who stole her grandmother’s prescriptions and savings; 3) her father who loves Ice Station Zebra; and 4) her mother, who dragged her from place to place to stay ahead of landlords. Kim only feels positive feelings of sorrow for her grandmother’s death, and love for the movies her father loved, indicating that movies are likely the only way she and her father related to each other - especially since he apparently wasn’t around when she was “little” to assist her mother in her multiple moves. (#relatable)
Given all of these relationships, I’d say that Kim has very good reason to move through the world suspicious of what other people want her for.
Kim has, essentially, no one, except for Jimmy, the only person who loves her without a separate agenda. And I say separate agenda because Jimmy does have an agenda. He wants Kim to respect him, admire him, and become his partner in both their professional and personal lives, but he doesn’t try to coerce or force her in either of those spheres. Sure, he tries to tempt her with real estate (and oh man would I have loved to see them get down in one of those dentist chairs before they moved them out), and tries to impress her with his legal and business acumen. But when she tells him that she wants to do something else, he never puts the screws to her like… Paige, and Rich, and Kevin, and especially Howard have all done.
And then we need to consider what Kim’s life would be like without Jimmy. When we first see her, she’s in debt to HHM and Howard’s holding it over her head by treating her worse than we’ve seen him treat any other employee. She has a two-year-plan of becoming partner, an empty apartment… and that’s it. Kim is all work and no play, and over the course of the show, Jimmy has showed her that she can play. Her revelation about her childhood meant that Kim has had precious little ability to play, and I find it likely that she’s only just learned what play means through Jimmy’s influence. It’s more than a personal, physical or romantic relationship; Kim’s sole source of non-work related joy is Jimmy, whether that’s healthy or not. To say that Kim should never have bothered with Jimmy is to say that Kim might never have learned to play and experience joy, and that’s utterly tragic! He’s given her a facet of life that she never otherwise would have seen, and I posit that, to progress this far, she needed that facet, that outlet and that experience.
That said, we know that Jimmy is toxic to Kim, and that he is only going to get worse for her as the series progresses. As we’ve seen, Jimmy is compartmentalizing his feelings from his actions following Chuck’s death. While Kim tried to help him break down his barriers, he’s resisted to the point of becoming Saul. Should Kim have insisted that Jimmy see a therapist and talk to her? Sure, I think so. But what we know of her character means that her wariness and her suspicion of the world at large - informed by her childhood as well as adult trauma - are preventing her from taking that huge step that would lead to friction between herself and her only intimate, non-transactional relationship. Part of her is, I think, frightened of fully opening up to Jimmy, and the heartbreak that would potentially ensue if he doesn’t recover from his moral calcification. But maybe her fear is also of the intimacy that would occur if Jimmy followed her advice. Their shared trauma could be overwhelming to both of them, if they’re not fully prepared to shoulder it, and right now, neither of them is prepared.
As it is, Jimmy has not only shut himself down, but he’s corroding Kim’s sense of morality, as we’ve seen with Mesa Verde and with Huell and with Bobby and Lois. He’s teaching her to put her toes over the line and enjoy it, because it’s the only form of play she’s ever experienced.
Kim’s personal sense of morality has, so far, prevented her from going fully over the line, and I’m very worried about what’s in store for her in the upcoming episodes. I’ll even go so far as to predict that the “Wexler v. McGill” in ep. 6 is a scam they both cook up, and whether it ends up badly for her… who can say.
So, anon, I guess my answer is to you: I don’t think Kim should never have bothered with Jimmy, because he’s essential to her as a person, an embodiment of the joy and pleasure life can bring, and her own emotional growth from her traumatic childhood. And while I think it would have been a good idea for Kim to have made more of an effort at communicating with him, she’s not emotionally prepared to do so in her current state. And where that takes us through Season 5 and beyond… I only wish her the best, as the best character on my teevee and in my heart.

and introduction.
meet elijah.
Tumblr media
hey guys! im lina! im 18 and im in the cst timezone. im currently a freshman in college and ive also been rping for like 6 years now ( i started on the neopets chat boards. if thats not an embarrassing fun fact idk what is ) but i havent rped since this summer since school was and still is kicking my ass. im really into musical theater, marvel & dc, and disney! i also used to be a lifeguard at a great wolf lodge for 2 years so if u want any funny stories about stupid children, or even just wanna be friends, lmk! im also SUPER sorry this intro is so late. i was gonna do it yesterday but then my friends wanted to hang and it kinda went downhill from there. im actually posting this like 20 min before i have a lab practical so i wont be able to reply until late tonight, but like this post to plot or anything!
some fun facts abt elijah:
he was adopted when he was around 3-4? he was abandoned and left on the back of a merchant cart headed to corona, where he was then discovered and then put into the local orphanage since no one was sure where he came from or who left him. all he had was a stuffed bear (named wooly), a basket of water and fruits to eat, and a letter that explained that:
his name was elijah
he was 2 (born on february 28th)
his parents couldnt care for him, so they hoped he would be found by a kind soul who could either take care of and love him, or else get him to someone who could
they loved him and only left him in the hopes that he would have a better life
he lived in the orphanage for almost 2 years and the few months before the 2nd anniversary of his arrival, rapunzel & eugene visited the orphanage that eugene grew up in and fell in love w/ eli, promptly adopting him soon after. he barely remembers anything about his abandonment and time in the orphanage, but always wanted to find his birth parents and let them know how he turned out. he kept the bear and basket in his room but carries the letter around with him in his wallet wherever he goes.
his full name is elijah frederic fitzherbert. he was given the middle name frederic in honor of his grandfather.
but, he much rather prefers eli. doesnt mind formalities but insists on people who know him to call him by his nickname. except he HATES being called “highness” bc he thinks it sounds stupid. he wont get upset per se if u keep referring to him as “your highness” but he will get annoyed
he very much wants to fulfill his role as “corona’s golden boy” by contributing back to his people. he worries for the kingdom more than he worries for himself and is always trying to prove that he is worthy of being a prince rather than just some random kid who got lucky enough to get adopted. most of his days are spent doing modest favors and helping out the townspeople or visiting the villages surrounding the kingdom.
when he’s in the castle you can almost always find him in the kitchen! boi loves to bake and cook. he loves the way food can bring joy to everyone. he often makes goods to give to the townspeople or the kids at the orphanage, where he volunteers at least every 2 weeks when hes not busy w prince stuff.
has an acute fear of disappointment. he feels so much pressure to prove his worth that came from growing up thinking if he did anything wrong he’d be sent back to orphanage, esp since his parents had another child. they wouldn’t want or need him anymore. he mostly got over this when he broke a vase when he was 12 and tried to run away from home, except he fell out the tree that he used to climb out his window and broke his leg lmao. his parents assured him that no matter what he did they would still love him and never abandon him, and his dad also taught him how to climb trees and roofs without dying (much to his mom’s chagrin). even tho hes pretty much over it, it kinda lingers subconsciously. thus, he overcompensates in everything he does and gets overly anxious about small problems
growing up he thought the stories that his dad told him about his past were so cool, despite the fact that he would almost always only hear those stories when he was being taught lessons of what he shouldnt do. he used to run around pretending to be flynn rider and his dad played along, planning play heists for them to do together (think scott & cassie in that one scene from ant man and the wasp) but they stopped when eli hit that age where he thought it was embarrassing to play w his dad. but, it really helped him bond w eugene and help him work on his coordination bc eli is CLUMSY AF
eli legit trips over nothing at least twice a day.
he bonded w his mom through art tho, which eventually turned into aesthetic desserts and meals! thats another reason why he loves baking and cooking so much.
when his 1st sibling was born when he was 5 at first he was jealous. he didnt get much attention at the orphanage due to the fact that there were so many kids and he was just starting to get used to the idea of having parents didnt have tons of kids always trying to win their affection and attention. he thought having a little sibling was the worst thing in the world and would hide from his parents bc if they couldnt find him they couldnt send him away. he hated his sibling.
until he met them. the second he saw their chubby face he was hooked. he swore that he would do anything and everything for them. and that continued when his parents adopted his other siblings as well. he absolutely adores them and acts like the protective older bro role
thankfully, with such a large age gap eli never rlly had to go through any of those petty squabbles that siblings usually have. he was always pretty protective of them tho and would fight when he thought they were being reckless and dumb out of his own fear that if they got hurt he would be an awful big brother (again, fear of disappointment)
he loves to travel bc his mom would always take him to these extravagant kingdoms and on these amazing sightseeing trips
this boy is hopeless when it comes to love. i can imagine lots of ppl liking him on top of all the ppl throwing themselves at him bc royal, but him being completely oblivious and thinking that no one likes him.
he had rlly bad ADD as a kid but its gotten better as hes grown. he still occasionally struggles w executive functioning tho and always gets rlly frustrated when he cant focus or remember
like i said earlier, clumsy af. no coordination. the only athletic ability he ever had was horse riding and running
that said he has a horse named may (short for mayonnaise. dont ask
he likes music a lot. prob learned piano at a young age
he probably is at the party bc royals? idk
EDIT: although (currently) unknown to eli, his true birth mother is maleficent. when eli was 2, his birth father took him away from her and had her suppress eli’s natural born powers. his father realized he was unfit to care for him, so he was the one who abandoned eli.
wanted connections!!
obv his parents and siblings? i mean cmon
one ( or both???? ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) ) of his birth parents!!!!! they dont have to know that eli is their son or mayb they do and are too scared to tell him, but being trapped together will eventually make it revealed
childhood friends! people he met when he traveled w his mom or met at royal social functions? i rlly also want friends that he would hang w at all the royal galas and stuff and they would go do dumb stuff like look sneak out and look for secret passages of make bets of who could dump more crab cakes into the stuffy duchess’ purse when she wasnt looking
people who know him solely through his family
someone who likes eli and eli legit has no clue, no matter how much they flirt and drop hints
people who hate eli! or even just dislike him, which makes him upset bc he doesnt like the idea that there are ppl who dont like him in the world. mayb bc sometimes he gets super highstrung when things arent going how they should b and he like lashed out at them once or something. maybe they hate his parents and on principle hate him. idk
someone who was w eli in the orphanage
past relationships? i feel like hes never rlly had a bad breakup tho, its just that they prob just didnt work out. hes also bi so they can b any gender. hes still looking for his otp
idk, legit anything. send me those plots man

Yo yo yo I need to kno more about Cleo!!!
After nearly a month (possibly more) here are some answers! Thanks for your ask, love
Tradition states that only rival heirs of the Moriyamas are sent to the branch family. As a girl, Riko was never a threat. However, since Riko’s mother died giving birth to her, Kengo blames the death of his wife on Riko and banishes her. The thing about the Moriyamas are that they’re coldhearted bishes so, when they love, they love with everything they’ve got. With Kengo’s wife dead, his life is cold and empty once more. The name Riko is not be uttered in the Moriyama household, especially not near Kengo. He will scream and cry and throw things. His grief is loud and violent. Many of Kengo’s men are from his wife’s family or were saved by her from disease and poverty. They owe her their lives and in her dying moments she called them all together to ask of them one last favor. She asked them to renew their pledges to Kengo and be there for him, no matter the cost. None of them refuse. Many silent tears are shed at her funeral. Anyway, all of the men are exceptionally loyal to him bc of this promise. Knowing Kengo’s frenzied grief if over the loss of the woman who loved them all as if they were her own children strengthens their bond with him. All of them secretly keep tabs on Riko, though. She looks just like her mother and it soothes their ragged souls to see their Mistresses features on her daughter.
Kengo’s men aren’t the only people secretly seeking solace in Riko. All the mystery shrouding the existence of his sister is the reason Ichirou was so intrigued by her. You know how Ania has a binder full of snippets of Kevin and Riko and their achievements and stuff? He has one too, dedicated solely to his sister. He secretly watches her games and interviews.
Kengo’s sister, Kana, is always around. She is Kengo’s best friend and closest advisor. When Kengo’s grief gets too much for him, Kana is the one that picks up his broken pieces. At all of the ridiculous fundraising functions they have to attend, Ichirou catches Kana making funny faces at Kengo from across the room. He's stunned by the sight of the soft twitch of his father's lips as he shakes his head in amusement. Unlike his father, Ichirou is all alone. He blames his father for it. It’s hard being the heir to the most feared crime syndicate in America, especially when you’re going it alone. Riko isn’t alone. She has Kevin and Jean and soon she shall have the Wesninski girl too. Ichirou is just a little bit bitter. He spends a lot of time day-dreaming about the day he’ll meet his sister. Never in a thousand years did he imagine it with a gun pressed to her head. As he pulls the trigger, his heart shatters into a thousand pieces. He stares emptily out the window of the car.
He doesn't find out about Cleo until Riko’s funeral. Everyone thinks he’s crying because his sister is dead. No. He’s crying because he’s an uncle and he hadn’t even known. After some investigation, he finds out the circumstances of Cleo’s conception. I’m not going into detail but let’s put it this way: Tetsuji doesn’t survive Ichirou’s wrath. It isn’t a quick death either.
Ichirou loved his sister wholeheartedly but he never got to tell her so. Knowing what he does now, he realizes that she was just as lonely as he was. More than anything, he does not want Cleo to suffer as he and Riko did. His first instinct is for him to take Cleo back. He’ll raise her as every Moriyama woman is raised: a Goddess to be feared and revered. At the funeral he has seen the child sleeping soundly in Wesninski’s arms and now a small part of him stalled. Life as the daughter of Riko and Tetsuji Moriyama will not be easy. If the public ever found out the circumstances under which Cleo was conceived, they’d riot at the very idea of her being raised by her uncle. Ichirou had already denounced his uncle and cut ties with him. He was a blemish on the Moriyama name that now threatened to bring them down entirely with his careless actions. No, Ichirou could not take Cleo back. Not if he wanted to preserve some semblance of his family's dignity. Or so her told himself.
Unlike his father, Ichirou wasn’t quite as coldhearted. Warmth still bloomed in his chest at the laughter of children and smiles still tinged his lips at the sight of the joys of others. Pain still stabbed through him at the sight of men bleeding out on the concrete before him and guilt kept him up at night, tormenting him with thoughts of the families of women left husbandless and children now fatherless. Above all else, he felt nothing but love for his baby niece and he wanted her to love him too. There would come a day when Cleo learned the truth herself. What would she think of Ichirou then? No matter what she might say, there would always be a hint of doubt in her mind insinuating falsehoods about him. Anguish washed over Ichirou at the very thought. He didn’t think he’d survive Cleo harboring so much as a single seed of hate in her heart for him. Staying away from her was for the best.
It’s a lot harder than he thought it would be, though. Cleo now lived at Palmetto State in the care of Abigail Winfield and David Wymack. Riko was Evermore’s unofficial mascot and now Cleo was Palmetto’s. Her face is plastered across every screen in the nation. Many Raven fans are livid with rage. This is the highest betrayal. Riko Moriyama had a child and no one said anything?!?!?! Riots are a thing. Someone tried to kidnap Cleo to take her back to Evermore.
The attempted kidnapping is the final straw. First of all, they’re dismembered parts were sent home to their family in a UPS box. Second of all, Ichirou holds a press conference in which he reveals the truth about Cleo’s birth, explaining why he can’t take her in, and making a thinly veiled threat to the remaining Raven fans about what would happen to the next person who tried to harm her. No one ever bothers Palmetto State again.
Cleo grows up hating Riko. For a long time, she doesn’t know she’s Riko’s daughter. All photos of Riko are banned. The adults only ever talk about her when they think Cleo is asleep. Cleo wakes in the middle of the night for a drink of water and creeps over to the kitchen. She can hear the adults angrily hissing at one another. They’re talking about someone named Riko with as much hate as Cleo’s ever heard. Wymack is always mad but this is something else. Abby seems upset as well, a truly rare sight. She doesn’t know who Riko is but she hates her now.
Cleo only finds out when she goes to school. After intense debate, the Foxes decided to keep her last name as it was. It was already too well known to do anything about it. Some kid comes from an exy obsessed family and mentions that she looks a lot like Riko Moriyama. Cleo gets sent to the principal's office for punching the kid.
Wymack and Abby can no longer hide it. They sit her down at the kitchen table and tell her the truth. Cleo doesn’t take it well. Maybe I’ll talk about the specifics later but there’s quite a bit of work that goes into that and I need to clear the asks that are already in my inbox.
She knows who her father is too but the details are limited because of course they are. She’s like 7 rn.
After all this drama, she learns about her Uncle Ichirou. She goes behind Wymack and Abby’s backs to send him a letter. It’s written in red crayon on a sheet of black construction paper: Evermore’s colors. Ichirou flips his shit. His beloved little niece has just found out the truth about her birth and the first thing she did was write to him.
It’s after this that Ichirou ends up abolishing the branch family entirely. He keeps all three of his kids, one daughter and two sons, by his side. He’s still the head of the yakuza tho so I mean… he still tortures and kills people. His kids grow up the same way.  He’s literally only soft for his wife, kids, and Cleo.
Ania has a bunch of galas and charity balls that she has to attend because she ‘donates’ to the Moriyama foundation. Ichirou makes her bring Cleo along so he can see her. Erin doesn’t like the thought of Ichirou being around Cleo so the three of them always arrive together and Erin is never far from Cleo. If she can’t be around, Jeanie, Jeremy, Kevin, or Thea are there. Ichirou is never left with Cleo unsupervised for obvious reasons. He wishes it didn’t have to be that way but he understands their concern and lets it go.
Since Ichirou isn’t really allowed to show physical affection towards her, Cleo gets spoiled rotten by her uncle. Every Christmas, there’s a shit ton of presents on Wymack’s doorsteps. All the labels read To: Cleo From: Santa in Ichirou’s unmistakable handwriting. There’s also just a bunch of presents that show up out of the blue. At least once a month, there’s some very expensive-as ‘thing’ in the mail. I mean, this shit belongs in museums. They’re almost always Japanese bc Ichirou doesn’t want her to forget her heritage. She’s got a lot of kimonos and a few samurai swords and ornate hair clips and umbrellas and shoes. She’s got a lot of scrolls written in Japanese too which is why she asks Kevin to teach her to speak and write it. Some of the scrolls are actually letters to her from Ichirou. These all go in a special box that she keeps on the top shelf of her closet.
Speaking of Kevin, Thea is an absolute miracle worker. It’s a long road to his recovery but Thea is there for him the whole way. Cleo is the biggest hurdle on this road. She looks just like Riko. She’s got the same bright laugh and brilliant smile. She has the same features as her mother, and grandmother by default, and has the same build. Looking at her, all Kevin can see is Riko.
One day he goes to pick her up from daycare. He can only watch as one of Cleo’s friends pushes someone else off the swings and offered the seat to Cleo. Kevin’s heart stopped. Riko would most definitely take the seat, kicking up the mulch in the other child’s face. Instead, Cleo shoves her friend aside and extends a hand to the boy on the ground. She helps him to his feet and wipes away the tears on the little boy’s face. She picks the mulch out of his hair and the splinters from his hand. Kevin is close enough to hear her say to him that a kiss will make it better. She kisses his palm and turns back to her friend. She tells the girl off. Before they know it, the little girl is bawling her eyes out. Cleo hugs her but insists that she needs to apologize to the boy. Satisfied by her friend’s meek apology she offers the kid his seat back. He shakes his head and asks if the girls want a turn. It’s the first time Kevin realizes that Riko and Cleo aren’t the same person. Kevin totally isn’t crying when he calls her over and checks her out of the daycare center.
Growing up at Palmetto, Cleo meets a lot of kids from broken homes. As a result she becomes really compassionate. She also becomes really touchy-feely. When the kids are sad she likes to give them hugs and hold their hands or pet their hair. She also makes? Them? Presents? Like little beaded necklaces and friendships bracelets. She makes an orange and white rubber band bracelet thing for Wymack and now he keeps his keys on it.
As I’ve mentioned, Cleo is ten when Erin and Ania get married and ask her to come and live with them. Wymack and Abby drive her up to the girls’ apartment in New York. Cleo is all nerves when she arrives. She’s grown up calling them Mom and Mama but now she’s going to live with them. Like…. Permanently!!!!!!!!!!
Standing in front of the door, she can’t bring herself to knock. Wymack kneels down in front of her and asks her what’s wrong.
“What if they’ve changed their minds?” Cleo whispered.
“Worst case scenario?” Wymack asked. “You’ll come back with us. I don’t think Abby and I are all that bad.”
“You’re not,” Cleo replied, hastily. Wymack stood back up.
“Look, kid. It’s not going to be easy for them to adjust to having you around but they will. There isn’t a soul on the face of the Earth that loves you more than they do. How could they not? You’re pretty fucking great,” he said. Abby pursed her lips at Wymack’s language but said nothing.
“You ready, Cleo?” she asked. Cleo nodded and Abby’s face brightened with a smile. The door opened just as Cleo mustered up the courage to knock. Arms wrapped around her and picked her up off the ground. Ania’s laughter rang in Cleo’s ears as the crushing weight of the hug knocked the air from her lungs. Kisses were speckled all across her face as Ania stepped out of the apartment and swung Cleo around until they were too dizzy to go on. The world was still spinning as Cleo collapsed beside Ania.
“She’s been here less than a minute and you’re already trying to kill her?” The familiar rough voice caught Cleo’s attention. As her vision settled, she saw Erin leaning against the door frame.
“Mom,” Cleo whispered, in awe as if Erin was an apparition. Erin remained in the doorway, stone-faced and covered in flour.
“Not going to give your mom a hug?” Erin asked finally. Cleo was on her feet in less than a second. She barrelled into Erin’s open arms, nearly knocking her over. Tears gushed from Cleo’s eyes. “The hell are you crying about, Little One?” Erin muttered into Cleo’s hair. Cleo loosed a shaky laugh. She let Erin pick her up and heard the voices of the others as they entered the house.
Cleo loves living with Erin and Ania. Like Wymack said, there’s an adjustment period but it’s not super long or uncomfortable. Erin is really good with kids and Ania really loves Cleo so they make it work.
Sometimes Cleo gets sad, though. Her moms have games that they have to go to often so they’re always flying out to them. Fortunately, Aaron and Katelyn are living up in New York too. It’s about a two hour drive out to Uncle Aaron’s. Cleo loves being with him and her cousins, the twins, Lila and Leena. They’re really nice and Cleo gets along with them really well. They stay up late braiding each others’ hair and whispering secrets and telling stories. Katelyn makes the best mac and cheese on the face of the planet Earth and she always makes it whenever she knows Cleo’s especially down. They all sit on the couch together to watch Cleo’s moms’ games. Cleo catches her uncle hasilty scrubbing tears from his eyes at the sight of his sister’s rare, fierce grin.
Uncle Nicky and Uncle Erik are great. They don’t have kids. Instead they have two corgis named Micheal and Jude that fight all the time. The only time they ever seem to get along is when they’re with Cleo. The two of them like to sit on opposite side of Cleo, sandwiching her in the middle.
Uncle Erik is a pastor at the church and he sings in the choir. He’s almost as good a singer as Erin… almost. He teaches Cleo how to sing. He also really likes to bake. Often, Cleo’s moms go on dates where they wander around Stuttgart together and just enjoy each other’s company. They almost always come home to find Erik and Cleo coated in flour and sugar and chocolate. Cleo uses her newfound baking skills to make things to her mom. Erin is living for it. Ania doesn’t approve of the unhealthy diet but she knows Cleo bakes with love so she limits how much Cleo is allowed to bake and instates portion control.
Cleo is mildly claustrophobic and the worst of it happens on planes. Ania and Erin have a pre-flight ritual that they extend to include Cleo in as well. Every time Erin has to get on a plane and Ania is there to see her off, she has Erin roll back her armbands (she doesn’t wear them anymore but this was back in college) and draws a little heart on the inside of her wrist. Once it dries, Ania will press a kiss to the little heart. Growing up, Ania didn’t like plane either so her mother used to do this for her to quiet her fears. It makes Erin and Cleo feel very loved and protected. I mean, they know it doesn’t actually doing anything but it always makes them feel a lot better.
On Saturday mornings, most kids wake up early to watch cartoons. Cleo wakes up to go snuggle with her moms. She’s around 12/13 when she starts this. Most of her moms’ games are on Fridays and they get back late at night or really early in the morning. Cleo wakes up at 9 a.m. and makes breakfast for the three of them and set the table. Everything is usually ready around 10 so she’ll creep into her moms’ room. Both of them are light sleepers so they’ll hear her come in. They sleep spooning each other but they always make space between the two of them so Cleo can wriggle in between them. Their cats, Sir and King, usually come in too. It soft and warm and all of them are happy.
Cleo is obviously a part of an exy team. She’s the biological daughter of Riko Moriyama and is being raised by Exy stars Erin and Ania Minyard-Josten. What did you expect?
She’s a striker. A much better one than her mother was. Better than Kevin too. The only person that outshines her is Ania but it doesn’t bother Cleo. In fact, it gives her something to aspire towards. She and Ania spend a lot of late nights out at the court with Erin in goal. Family bonding time :’)
Cleo likes getting her nails done. She usually does this with Ania. Ania only ever gets her non-dominant hand done and Cleo doesn’t understand. She only starts to understand once she gets married but I’ll get to that in a minute.
There’s about a 3 year difference between Cleo and Amalia. Okay, look. Kevin’s grad party was wild and he and Thea might have had a little too much to drink. That’s how Amalia is conceived. Thea is mortified. Kevin asks her if she wants an abortion. Both of them are pro-choice, especially after learning everything that went down with the birth of Cleo. Thea believes in the right to choose but she could never have an abortion herself. She gives birth to Amalia and it devastated her. Her entire career is put on hold so she can have her baby. Kevin is stressed. He wants doesn’t want to sacrifice Thea’s happiness for that of their child.  The only compromise they can work out is to have their contracts transferred. They join the team based in Columbia, an hour and a half from the Foxhole Court. They wouldn’t dare ask Wymack to raise their child but they do ask for his help. Whenever they travel, Wymack and Abby babysit their granddaughter. The Monsters are at Palmetto for one more year so they help out too. Ania isn’t good with kids other than Cleo but she does her best to help. Jeanie and Jeremy get named the godparents but they don’t get to see Amalia often until Thea and Kevin move out to the West Coast. The Muldani-Days live in Seattle and the Knoxs remain in California. Visiting them is painful for Ania and Erin but they make new memories with them and so it isn’t all bad.
Cleo and Amalia are best friends. Kevin and Thea live on the West Coast, on the other end of the nation, so the girls skype a lot. They binge watch shows together like this and help each other with homework too. They always get to see each other when their parents play each other at games and during holidays. Sometimes Kevin will let Amalia stay over with Erin and Ania or vice versa. All of this takes a serious mental toll on Cleo. She’s head over heels for Amalia. Sleeping literal inches from her is going to drive Cleo insane. Amalia is as much of a clingy sleeper as her father so she will often throw and arm over Cleo while asleep and draw her close. Cleo is certain she’s going to die then and there.
Anyway, Kevin is shook. All his ptsd comes crashing back in a massive wave. He remembers how Riko treated him. What is Cleo does the same to Amalia? It doesn’t take him long to snap out of it. Cleo was raised in a loving home by Wymack, Abby, and the Foxes. All of them are broken but it's part of what made them such good people for her to around. Cleo has learned compassion to a degree that Kevin could only imagine. She is kind-hearted and loving and incredibly genuine. No one was ever going to be good enough for Amalia in Kevin’s eyes but Cleo was definitely as close as he’d hoped to find.
He doesn’t say anything to Amalia. He doesn’t want to hurt Cleo’s chances but he doesn’t want to force his daughter to pick Cleo for his sake either.
Amalia picks Cleo of her own free will. Their wedding is massive. Kevin breaks down crying as he walks her down the aisle to Cleo. Cleo rushes off the altar and helps him to his feet. She and Amalia walk him to the end before depositing him in a seat beside Thea. They’re all giggles and bright smiles as they stand together at the altar.
They honeymoon in the French countryside. They spend most of it in bed together. Amalia is asexual so no that’s not what I meant, you heathens. They just curl up beside one another talking and giggling and kissing bc they’re happy and in love.
Amalia and Cleo become foster parents. They do adopt but it usually older kids, late teens. Due to their age, few of them live with their moms but they all come together for the holidays.
Holidays are hell. Cleo and Amalia have like eight kids and then they’re usually fostering someone. A lot of their kids are married and have their own kids plus their parents and uncles/aunts + grandparents show up. This is the only reason Cleo and Amalia live in a mansion. They need to be able to accommodate all these people.
They grow old together. They have those shared tombstones with their graves side by side. Cleo dies first. Amalia doesn’t cry. She laughs and dances and tells stories about her wife. Cleo’s funeral is a celebration of her life not the mourning of her death, just the way she would have wanted it to be.
Every day up until her own death, Amaila places pink and white carnations on Cleo’s grave. She’ll sit by her grave and read all her favorite books to her. Amalia misses Cleo dearly but she believes that she’ll return to her beloved when the time comes.

We’re excited to announce that Jeanne has decided to level up Theo Carter from a mumu minor character to a main character! Please go through the checklist to make sure you’re ready to go and send in your account within the next 24 hours.
OOC INFO
Name + pronouns: Jeanne Age: 25 Timezone: EST Ships: Theo/Chemistry Anti-Ships: Theo/Forced
IC INFO
Full Name: Theodora “Theo” Frances Rose Carter Face Claim: Aimee Carrero Age/Birthday: 27/July 3rd, 1991 Occupation: Personal financial assistant Personality: Cynical, protective, dedicated, judgmental, blunt Hometown: Gilbert, AZ
Bio:
There are a couple key points you should keep in mind when it comes to Theo Carter: one, only legal professionals and her mother are allowed to call her Theodora. Two, she’s the only one allowed to trash talk her brothers and will physically fight anyone who crosses that line. And three, don’t expect anything more than casual indifference from her on a daily basis. Give her a reason to care about what you have to say, or she’ll consider just how much of her time your worth before you’ve finished saying your first sentence.
Theo was the second adopted to Howard and Cecilia Carter, proceeded by her older brother (her mother’s biological nephew) and followed by her younger brother, a little boy adopted as a newborn from Vietnam a few years later. Her parents had been unable to have children of their own, and considered that a sign from God that they were meant to expand their family in the same breath as giving children a chance at a good life. That’s how they came to start the adoption process for Theo before she was even born, having been connected to her biological parents through a mutual friend and agreeing to raise her as their own. It was a closed adoption so Theo knows nothing about the people responsible for giving her life, but she can honestly say it doesn’t cross her mind much. She knows that they were both still teenagers and lacked the financial capabilities to raise her; to Theo, making her a Carter was the best thing they could’ve possibly done for her.
The early years of Theo’s life felt pretty standard, barring the occasional strange look her family would get by people who didn’t understand her hodgepodge of a family. That’s fine though, they didn’t have to understand. The Carter children grew up with a small community of people, all acting as brothers and sisters and aunts and uncles without any legal relationship. As a kid, it seemed perfectly normal, but looking back on it now, and after long talks with her parents, it feels a bit…. well, cult-y is the word Theo would use. Cecilia Carter’s father was a bit of an egomaniac with a charming personality and a hedonistic approach to life, and had been running his own church long before Theo came around. He’d amassed a small but loyal group of followers, including three wives and seventeen children including Theo’s mother. Cecilia and Howard had a massive falling out with the group over money and morality when Theo was eight, and because it had been such a tightly-knit community lead by her grandfather, the whole family was ostracized. Realizing that they were effectively exiled from their only friends and family in Arizona, the Carter parents decided to start over far far away. They settled in New York City after some deliberation
Most decent parents will tell their children that they can be anything they want when they grow up purely for the encouragement rather than an actual possibility, but Theo really could have been anything she wanted. To say she was a smart kid would be an understatement; she was labeled advanced pretty much her first day of kindergarten and continued to excel throughout her school career. She would soak up information like a sponge, and if there was something that the people around her couldn’t explain to her, she would go out and find answers on her own. Moving to New York and finding herself surrounded by more books and culture than anything Arizona could’ve provided her with. While she excelled in most areas, she found herself most caring for math, music, and literature. It was pretty exemplary of her as a person that she maintained high scores in all her subjects but deliberately put more work into the things she could bring herself to care about. If she doesn’t love something, why would she bother giving it her all versus the bare minimum?
She was bumped up more than one grade as a child and ultimately graduated high school at 16, college at 19, and had her master’s degree in accounting by the time she was 21. It’s probably a cliche that she fell into a career that circled around numbers, but it really was the obvious choice. Humanities and social sciences never mattered to her much. Facts, numbers, music, and words were reliable and definitive, much more than people and their feelings could ever be. Even with her genius level intelligence, Theo is well aware of her own strengths. Measurable things, yes. People? Not so much. A therapist might say that she has an innate need for control in all aspects of her life, and the unpredictability of humans goes against that. Ask Theo though, and she’ll tell you that she simply doesn’t have time to deal with others. She’s a busy woman.
After graduating with her master’s degree, Theo became a CPA and was hired in at an accounting firm for some of New York City’s best. She isn’t in love with her job, but she’s good at it and it gives her a steady regularity that brings her comfort though she won’t admit that. She’s briefly considered getting a PhD, solely so people will have to address her as Dr. Carter, but jury is currently out on if that’ll give her something resembling joy. Right now, she’s stagnant, and stagnant for her means content. Work, her mini passions, and coffee are all she needs right now. Ask her if that’s still all she needs in five years time, because she’s not quite sure on that part.
Pets: A black and white rabbit named Oreo Speedwagon. The little guy mostly sticks to Theo’s room when he’s out and hoppin’ about, but Theo has told him it’s okay to bite on contact if anyone thinks about entering her premises.
Relationships:
Lola Alvarez — Theo and Lola aren’t actually related, but after knowing each other for what feels like forever, Lola is Theo’s sister in every way that counts. Lola is the one person outside of her family that Theo will defend with everything she has, and Theo trusts Lola to drag her out of her apartment should she start becoming too much of a hermit. The fact that she trusts Lola at all speaks volumes; she just hopes Lola recognizes her own worth as much as Theo recognizes it.
Blair Anderson — Theo and Blair lived together for the length of a leasing contract years ago. Somehow, despite Blair being what Theo categorizes as “sickeningly sweet”, she managed not to want to kill on a daily basis. In fact, she’d go so far as to call Blair a pleasure. Well, she said that once when no one was around to hear it, but it still counts. She appreciated Blair’s ear and passion for music, one of the few things other than numbers that Theo cares about. Theo moved out a while ago, but she still enjoys catching up with Blair if the two bump into each other from time to time.

Aw, I was looking over the past dgm posts on your blog and I had no idea about the Timothy bonus post Allen and Johnny quitting the Order. It makes sense, Timothy hasn't been around long but canon bits show he was really attached to Allen (The Gray Log said they took baths together apparently). Timothy is always a big part of Allen's Order loved ones flashbacks (and Johnny carries a picture around of him hugging Allen). Knowing Timothy loved Johnny a lot too just gets me. Allen and Johnny -
2 certainly took a lot of the Order's (humanity) innocence and joy with them when they left. See this is why I utterly adore the Allen and Johnny dynamic. I didn't expect it but it was so organic and now the 2 are so important to each other. And they were both so important to many good people of the Order. My heart breaks yet soars at once! X0
Aww nonny!! :’D have fun in the old posts though!
and ahh yes that bonus breaks my heart ;;-;;
I think it’s always important to remember how radically Komui changed the Order and put the focus on humanity, especially creating himself the team that now fits the scientific division as we know it (and Jeryy) on the sole purpose of lightening the mood for the Exorcists and help them in battle in a way they don’t feel just like weapons thrown in a war. (Kanda & Lenalee stories are the two that showcase that the most).
Johnny was part of this initiative too. Even in earlier chapters we see he tends to be a lighthearted goof who is genuinely trying to help, and his kindness shines through even more than the others (no jab at the others though, most of them were trying to get by. I would clap for Reever’s kindness too if he didn’t have to catalyse all his efforts in making sure Komui isn’t destroying the Order).  and Johnny just also experienced a major loss in the recent arcs while all his goal was always to find ways to ease it to the exorcists- and he’s such a softie. I mean he’s the only one of the scientists to show major disgust for what happened to Alma for exemple. (Reever too but he does try to swallow it back. Johnny is such a softie he completely breaks down. It’s telling though that the two to react with empathy and compassion to Alma are... the two scientists of Komui’s unit, the unit he set in place specifically to change the Order and the way it treated the exorcists)
And despite that, Timothy arrived right at a very bad moment for the Order, after it had been destroyed and half its staff was killed, there’s only 14 or so exorcists left  because there had recently been a slaughter as well, (which imo probably left a much more massive impact on their psyche that we give them credit for. ) and especially, Lveille came back in commands of the Order right before Timothy came to the Order, bringing with him ruthless scientists that don’t especially seem to follow Komui’s ethics, and well, we’ve seen how Lveille tends to turn people into weapons, and with Lenalee’s backstory, how he wouldn’t hesitate to take it on the youngest of the gang either.
With how perticular Timothy’s innocence is, and the sacrifice they know they have to pull that kid through to, in his case, litterally making him a weapon in the war (since his innocence implies him projecting into an Akuma to be a weapon)... No wonder everyone started to get a bit overprotective of him.
(more on that bc i can, but it keeps reminding me of how, when Allen escapes the order, Krory is shown to be the one handling Timothy: )
Tumblr media
Back on Allen and Johnny, again it’s no real wonder either: Johnny lost people he loved in the Order’s attack and he got especially protective of Allen after seeing everything Allen went through and how much Allen tried to protect everyone during the attack.  Not to mention, we know Johnny was very close of Suman Dark, who died horribly in the exorcist slaughter when he became a Fallen - and it was also something Allen could connect with. Allen was there when Suman was killed. And right after that Allen “died”. For Johnny, Allen was the newcomer, he was sweet and all, but suddenly he had to almost die with one of Johnny’s close friend, trying to protect him. It must have been a lot to take it for poor Johnny back then, and when Allen came back, Tap died in the Order’s Attack and Allen once again just. Jumped into protected everyone, especially Johnny. No wonder Allen is this soft about Allen’s all being, he has more reasons than anyone in the scientist division to know how far Allen pushes his sacrifices for the others while still keeping a smile. No wonder he tries to ease it even more for Allen.
And it’s still in a very bad timing for Allen considering how he’s scrutenized by the Order since Lveille is back in the picture. Which is already enough to put pressure on Allen but-
I think the fact Cross “died” right before meeting Timothy may have especially make Allen’s soft spot for Timothy stronger. With every revelations that came with Cross, Allen is obviously shaken up  by the revelations, his death, and the order’s pressure. Having a kid, an orphan, who had been used by his own father, who also turned to crime to pay back debts, who has an innocence that is leaving him with a part of his body he is probably bullied for, and a supernatural marking from his father on his own face,  now joining the order at a time where Komui’s attempt at peace became unstable... I have no wonder why Allen made sure the kid felt safe. Between being able to see himself in Timothy and being in such a troubling time having to reconcile his past with who he is, going out of his way to make sure the kid felt safe is on brand.
I think the timing and the fact the Order is becoming more and more “unsafe” really strengthened the fact the older ones, who have seen all that chaos, would try to shelter the young kid who has no idea what sort of mess he’s getting into. And if things are getting more and more tense in the Order, at least make it a better place for the Kid.
That’s why also the bonus in question is super sad. It’s Komui getting out of his way to try to fill that void for Timothy, avoiding his works (yes he’s lazy too but shh) to priviligize him and his silliness seems to be trying to balancing out the severity of the absence as well. (I’d argue a LOT of Komui’s character could be summarized like that tbh)
It could also raise a lot of questions about how unstable the Order truly became. We don’t know much anymore now, but we know that like, the exorcists had been sent to hunt Allen down (to Krory’s dismay), Lenalee and Marie are lying to the Order about Kanda’s whereabouts and i think it’s mentioned that they’re getting in trouble for doing so, and that’s sure not Komui’s doing. Considering Johnny left the Order but escaped it, with science tools to keep his memories and actively help Allen also somewhat could incriminate the Science Division into “helping a fugitive out” which would probably strengthen a grip on the Science Division as a whole with Lveille’s authority.
What I’m trying to say is that Johnny’s departure is probably adding more internal problems, it’s likely the Science Division being too scrutinized makes it hard to find time to balance out the new kid, and the others exorcists are probably out of town or in trouble regarding the Allen’s case: Timothy is probably excluded from it due to his young age, but therefore... he must feel so alone.
Yeah, Allen and Johnny were a unit in the Order. I think there’s tons of reasons why and especially how tight they got after the attack on the Order, and how the more problems were getting in Allen’s way the more protective Johnny became knowing fully well that Allen’s heart is good and doesn’t deserve this mess. And it’s so sweet to see it. It’s even sweeter to see how this affection and this unit was extended too to Timothy, to the newcomer, to the one naive kid who hadn’t been seeing those horrors just yet. And they want to preserve that innocence, to live by what was originally Komui’s ethics in the Order.
Now that they’re both gone and the trouble it leaves the Order in especially with Lveille taking over the controle from Komui all while the Science divisions is probably under scrutiny while the exorcists are sent on missions or under watch... All efforts to emotionally protect Timothy so he adjusts in the Order, in the war, are becoming thin.
At Least Komui is still here to help.
But that sure also emphazis how much of a hole Johnny and Allen left to the Order - if not just by their presence, also by the consequences of their absenses.
Sorry i ended up rambling just kdhjfkdj this particular situation makes me so sad.
Take care ;O

Character info for my killjoys b99 AU that im probably never going to finish
Floorgasm
Gina: Dancey Reagan
• City kid
• Was medicated but developed an immunity
• Leader of Floorgasm
• Wasn't sure about her first visits to the Lobby but when Miss 1% took her to the Rent-a-Ment for the first time she discovered her passion for dancing and committed to the rebellion
• Started getting her friends on board soon after that
Rosa: Miss 1%
• Grew up in the Lobby
• Never medicated
• Lives with Falcon until she moves out to the Zones with Floorgasm
• Found Gina when she got lost once bc she was distracted by suddenly feeling emotion after the BLi meds started wearing off and ended up in the Lobby
• Was planning on leaving the city anyways but decided she had to when she met the future members of Floorgasm
Jake: Dante Thunderstone
• Born in a poorer part of Bat City but his family moved after his father "died" (read: ran off to the zones and became a killjoy) where he met Charles
• Met Gina when they were teenagers
• Only medicated lightly for hyperactivity. Otherwise he was pretty up to BLi standards
• Gina told him about Miss 1% and the Juvies first
• Was almost immediately on board bc it "sounded awesome"
• Childhood best friends with Charles
Charles: Chip Rockets
• Best friends with Jake
• Normal amount of medication for an average citizen
• Discovers his love for food in the zones when he tries something other than BLi provided brand af nutrition

• Would do anything for Jake and does everything he does
Amy: no killjoy name
• The most medicated and BLi controlled of the group
• Almost told someone what they were doing before Miss 1% caught her and threatened her slightly
• The group had to steal her pills to get her to see what was going on
• As the meds wear off she goes through the drunk Amy shit
• The passing out phase is her passing out from withdrawal bc while they all just stop taking the pills they had to steal Amy's which meant she'd been off the longest
• They don't know what withdrawal is so they come to Miss 1% and she freaks the fuck out
• Luckily she lives but it was terrifying
In the city
Terry: Ebony Falcon
• Juviehall
• Lives in the Lobby with Sharon and the kids, the zones are no place to raise a family
• Old friends with Miss 1%. She introduces Gina to him pretty early in her visits to the Lobby, after 1% sees her dance for the first time at Hitchcock and Scully's Rent-a-Ment
Hitchcock and Scully: Those are their aliases. Nobody knows their real names.
• They run a Rent-a-Ment and are very friendly to their customers. Meaning they're so annoying that their Rent-a-Ment is one of the least popular in the city, solely because nobody can stand them.
• Falcon and Miss 1% are regular customers though because they've known Hitchcock and Scully for a long time
In the desert
Capitain Holt: DJ Velvet Thunder
• Lives in an abandoned library with his husband Kevin
• Does a radio show where he gives advice to help new 'joys survive in the zones
• Was a cop before the BLi takeover

• Once found an old broken DVD player and projector and decided to fix them up because it could be "interesting"
• Has threatened to kill anyone who finds out he fixed it to watch Harry Potter

TLJ Analysis (SPOILERS!)
I absolutely loved The Last Jedi. It deepened my understanding of all the characters involved in a way the first movie didn’t, while at the same time making me appreciate the first film more. This film also felt like more of a standalone feature rather than just an installment in a series, which is always a good thing. The Force Awakens functioned mostly as a prelude or an overture of sorts, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but makes for a weaker film.
I walked away from The Force Awakens liking all the characters but not really feeling like any of them had a particularly strong character arc other than Finn and Kylo. This film remedied that, and then some, adding the wonderful Rose Tico into the mix as well. Looking back on my analysis of Rey in the first film and the things I wanted for the second film, The Last Jedi pretty much checked off the whole list and delivered on all of it, big time:
The spiritual and psychological element of the Force is very important to me and we almost don’t get enough of it in this movie - although I think a lot of that has to do with this being the introduction of these characters, and I think that Daisy and Adam did a really good job with what was included.
All that being said, I needed more quiet moments with Rey because any Force-sensitive character is best-written with a hefty side of introspection. I needed to see more quiet moments in the film in general - slower moving scenes that focused solely on characterization. Nowadays, we don’t get a lot of those in action-adventure franchise movies, and J.J. Abrams rarely includes them in his films, which is his biggest weakness as a director imo. Moments like Han seeing Luke in Rey’s innocent, unbridled wonder when she sees the Resistance base planet covered in trees and says she didn’t think there was so much green in the universe. Rian Johnson, a director-writer, is very good at such moments (as in his film Looper), and I’m counting on him to include many in the next two films, which he is writing (and one of which he’s directing as well).
Also, can I just say that I love being right? I think you all already knew that but I do so love being right. I haven’t talked much about Kylo Ren on this blog bc he’s such a polarizing subject and my hands were full enough dealing with the nastier side of the Rogue One fandom without weighing in on Kylo, but I’m going to quote myself here - this is from my initial analysis right after watching The Force Awakens for the first time (I also analyzed all the other main characters in this post, if you’re interested in reading my takes on them as well) - then, as now, the conflict in him was fully evident:
I was fascinated by Adam Driver’s soulful, wrathful, deeply disturbing portrayal of our new conflicted Dark Sider. He’s embarassed by the very fact that he’s human - he turns away when Hux enters Snoke’s hologram throne room thingy like he can’t bear for anyone to see his actual face. He’d rather be a concept than a flesh and blood human with feelings and we don’t know what drove him to this. Leia absolves Han and herself of guilt, saying it’s Snoke who seduced him to the Dark Side and that Ben had too much of Vader in him. This is confusing to me, as the last thing Vader says to Luke is to tell Leia that Luke was right about there being good in him. Until we know more, I’m going to interpret this as Anakin’s acute vulnerability to the extremes of the Force (because of the whole Chosen One business) being something Ben is susceptible to as well. Snoke did something and Ben ended up killing Luke’s new Jedi Order - bad shit had to have gone down and I want that explored, stat. He’s not a completely soulless monster yet, but if no one intervenes, he soon will be.
Snoke’s final test for him was to kill his father, and he passed that test with tears in his eyes (of anger? of sadistic joy? of love? of all three and other emotions beside?). But his eyes aren’t Sith eyes yet so perhaps there’s further yet for him to fall. He says Rey would be “disappointed” if Han was her real father, but we never hear him speak a word about Leia, and I need his relationship with his parents prior to his fall, as well as his fall itself, to be described. He’s lonely, I think - he asks Rey to allow him to teach her, genuinely desperate to connect with her in spite of his jealousy of Anakin’s lightsaber choosing her. He’s filled with self-loathing (for more reasons than I can fathom - for his perceived emotional weakness, his actual physical weakness, his multiple failures in his pursuit of Rey, and so on) and punches his own wounds as if that will make them go away. I feel like I’ll have more to say about him after another viewing, because Adam’s subtle acting says so much that repeated viewings are a must for thorough analysis.
Now, the Imperials/First Order members are much more intriguing in this film than they were in the original trilogy. They aren’t cynical and above it all, or just trying to get by. They’re true believers.
Ok, see what I mean about being right? Bc damn, was I ever right. Conflict and the balance channeled thereby make up the grey areas of the Force where Rey and Kylo were finally able to meet and connect.
Luke’s arc about failure in this film moved me to tears and among the few issues I had with the film were that we didn’t get to see him continue to teach Rey beyond this film - Mark Hamill was fantastic and the scene between Luke and Force Ghost Yoda was my favorite in the film and resonated with me deeply - the truth of failure as a potent teacher and the role of the master to nurture the student to grow beyond their reach.
I also wanted more lore from this film - more about the connections between past and present via the ancient Jedi but maybe that would have been too esoteric for general audiences. I’ve been spoiled by Knights of the Old Republic, a video game series in the old Star Wars canon that this film certainly has drawn on (that much is most obviously evident in Kylo Ren’s character design and now in the Force Bond lore and connection between Rey and Kylo - if you are interested in my meta on Revan and Bastila, and then Atton and the Exile and Kreia, you can read all that here and here, respectively).
In any case, I am raring to go see it again and can’t wait to dive into fic and meta for this film - and as I did with Rogue One, am very much looking forward to contributing my own.

im soooooooooo glad that two scenes when up next to each other in time bc I JUST LOVE PARALLELS HELLO!!!!
marriage ceremony, highlight:
cd!donghae is always extra (look that boy may not want attention but man he does everything that cause the opposite to happen) but essein??? EQUALLY EXTRA. i mean who even thought consort candidates should even fight each other to get the hand of their ruler?? tho that tradition has died out (bc peace & consort no longer holds it original power) but past!!essein were so badass tbh. AND WHY WOULD YOU EVEN BUILD A FUCKING TEMPLE ON AN ACTIVE VOLCANO AND MAKE IT TRADITION FOR THE ROYAL FAMILY TO GET THERE WTF.
which lead to our next point: the essein are super super (!!!!!) devout ppl so much so that they build a temple on an active volcano believing wholehearted that their god will protect him... and well it rumbles and scared donghae to shit but it hasn’t kill anyone yet in thousand of years so i guess proven right??? :D
donghae 10000% does not give a shit about essein’s gods but he understand their important to these ppl so although he does walk the walk he really reaaaaally isnt that sincere. that will change with time!!
gods ARE HUGE thing in this world but that was in the past now the world can of split b/t those that still believe and revere them to those that think they are decoration bc while esse entire infrastructure rely on magic and will of the gods so ofc they still hold the gods in high regard but in other part of the world where technology has triumph over magic (which is selective, rare, and hard to train/use) everybody catch on that advancement so why pray to the gods for rain when you can build an aquaduct and bring it to your drought written lands?? so more advance the nation (which is mainly the bigger/powerful/rich ones) the less the gods have any influence. but since essein are ‘isolationist’ they disregard any advancement and still practice the old ways, so that’s why the gods are sooo super important to them and IT HASN’T FAIL THEM SO WHY FIX IT????
donghae’s nation, nave, actually straddle that magic/tech divide so while they have advance tech from the bigger countries trickling in but bc donghae’s father is devout, religion and the worship of ion is important to donghae and his family.... but as you can see that no longer matter to donghae bc he had long turned away from them bc they are useless in his eyes ///o\\\\.
i thought about how a big country like essein manage to keep communication with its vast territories since they don’t have the advancement from the outside world (which use something similar to the telegram/phone). AND I REALIZE oooh essein are heavy reliance on their beasts/monsters and tamed to do manual labor and assist in ordinary living so communciation and transimission??? aiayas--giant eyeball bats with hive mind and ability to transmit info/image easily so yes i hope to explore more creatures in the world of esse :)))) IT’S SO MUCH FUN.
the mountain that donghae climbed is shallowly inspired by china’s mount tai which has 7k-ish stone step to climb to the top!!!! IT’S REALLY BEAUTIFUL AND A MARVEL
no gods, highlight:
it’s not explicitly stated in the text (i think, i haven’t decide yet) but during his years of captivity donghae suffered from sever depression and suicide ideation :((((.  i soooo hope it’s clear that it's heavily hinted throughout the series
when he was captive of his brother he wasn’t  physically torture or punished but he still suffer from severe abuse just not a physical one but mainly emotional/mental abuse (which is not a form that we see a lot in writing sadly) and it’s just as bad if his bro beat him. the thing is donghae’s father lost the war against his own son and therefore many ppl in his family are executed and DONGHAE HAD TO WATCHED IT HAPPENED and the sole reason he’s alive is bc his bro god a an unreasonable grudge on donghae and kept him alive just to fuck with him. he’ll come to donghae’s room and tell him father’s death?? UR FAULT. older brother dying?? ALSO YOUR FAULT. everybody that die??? YOUR FAULT. the reason our country was in a civil war?? IT’S BC YOU EXIST IF YOU DIDN’T EXIST I WOULD NEVER CHALLENGE FATHER AND NOBODY HAD TO SUFFER. imagine day in and ay out someone tell you this your fucking self worth and sense start to warped and you start to believe it IS YOUR FAULT even though it ISN’T AT ALL. and not only he kept you captive and feed you all these lies he isolated you from everyone and the few you get in contact with (i.e. the servants) the moment you make talk/friends with them they get kill just TO FUCK WITH YOU BC YOU CAN’T HAVE FRIENDS AND NOT EVEN A DROP OF JOY FROM CONVERSING WITH ANOTHER HUMAN. and if you try to escape??? BIG MISTAKE you do anything wrong in his eyes he pick the ppl you knows/care about (your wetnurse, ur old servants, etc) that are kept in his prison and take them out and make an example of them INSTEAD OF YOU bc your actions LEAD TO THEIR DEATH... so yea he doesn’t outright physically hurt donghae but hurt his heart and self worth instead and it’s sooo incredibly that donghae  even thought he’s out of nave now... he still fucked up in many ways :((((((((((((((( and it’s long road to recovery before he can see that he’s amazing and a survivor!!!!!
donghae’s awkwardness/social inept with ppl through much of the first three arcs (??) is attributed to after years of isolation from other ppl so while he was bright and social in the past... now he’s just a pale imitiation of his self but every now and then we SEE THAT TRUE SPARK OF HIS THAT BEEN HIDING ALL ALONG LIKE CHALLENGING HIS RIGHT TO MARRY HYUKJAE AND LIKE FUCKING WINNING IT EVEN THOUGH HE’S SCARED TO DEATH BUT HE’S MORE SCARED OF BEING ALONE AGAIN NOW THAT HE FOUND PPL HE CAN RELY ON \\\O//.
‘my god died a long time ago’ is honestly one of my fav lines bc it actually talk about two things 1) is that donghae denoucing the gods didn’t begin when his father died but his mother’s death actually. that was when he prayed and prayed for her to recover from her illness but that never happen and since then he realized gods are whimsical beings they only deem to visit you when they want to and not BY UR TERMS. 2) donghae loves his father V V V V MUCH, he admire him for being such a noble and righteous person and was very close to him so while donghae turned away from the gods he put his father on a pedestal and in a way he’s donghae’s god now and when his father died.... so did his god.
kyu’s and the crew celebrating ion is actually pretty common thing for them not only to honor donghae and his family’s god but since they are so devout in their beliefs and believe all gods are important they are respectful of even to foreign gods. esse, throughout history, had acquired a lot of territories (mainly smaller islands surrounding their mainland) and each ones of them have their set of beliefs and religion and though they are adsorbed into esse, they are still allow to worship their original gods alongside essein’s 12 holy deities that are super suppppppper important to them.
