Interfering with a Love Life

The pub was cramped, every corner, every table filled with people as chatter and laughter deafened the music playing through the speakers. Drunk old men sat at the bar and bothered the poor, exhausted barkeep who had half an hour left in his shift, his eyes flicking to the clock every 5 minutes as the old men roared with laughter.

Remus was staring at you, sneaky with his gaze as he watched you smile, giggle, joke and talk; he only looked away when you glanced at him briefly, sipping his beer as he pretended to listen to James rambling to Peter about just how difficult Quidditch could be.

Sirius was at the bar himself, flirting with the man next to him to get free drinks (Remus always rolled his eyes, but Sirius always ended up walking away with free drinks for everyone at the table).

Lily was talking to you about wedding dress shopping, Remus quite invested into the conversation as he listened to you gush about how a sweetheart neckline (whatever that was) and perhaps a mermaid dress (he wondered if that was even a thing) would look amazing on the red-haired girl.

A couple minutes later, Sirius finally walked over with a round of drinks in his hands, passing them out to everyone.

"God, that bloke was such a creep." He murmured, digging into Marlene's bag for a cigarette pack.

"Uh, Sirius, you got me a cider." Remus complained, lifting the bottle so Sirius could see the lable.

"So?"

"So I don't like ciders."

"You don't like ciders?" You asked, bewildered at his taste.

"Yeah, I think they're too sweet." He shrugged.

You took the cider bottle away from him and smiled as you drank a sip.

"More for me, then."

Remus rolled his eyes, smiling as he did so, and he stood up from his chair, taking his jacket off and placing it on the chair, establishing his claim as he checked his jeans' pockets for money.

"Right, I'm going to the bar. Does anyone want anything?"

Everyone shook their heads and said no, Remus walking over to the bar as Sirius lit up his cigarette, ignoring Marlene's scolds as James gagged at his 'disgusting' habit.

Remus ordered a beer, to which the barmaid had to run down to change the keg, leaving the man standing there as he leaned against the wooden counter.

Another man had walked up next to him, same age as Remus, maybe a tad bit older, as he ordered an old-fashioned from the other barkeep, leaning in the same way Remus did against the bar.

"Oi," The man had attempted to get Remus' attention, quite rudely, but nevertheless Remus turned to face him.

"You having a good night?" The man attempted to make small talk, tapping his fingers against the wood as he grinned at Remus.

"Yeah." He replied, just wanting to be left alone.

"Oh, good. Listen, that girl you're with, over there?" The man had pointed to you over his shoulder.

"Yeah?"

"I was wondering if she's single."

The barmaid had replaced the keg, it seemed, as she handed Remus his cold glass of beer. He gripped onto it strongly, sighing as he reminded himself to be calm and tell the truth. You weren't dating, much to his dismay. Why should he interfere with your love life?

"No, she isn't."

Apparently, Remus decided to interfere with your love life that night. 

"Oh. Who's she with?"

"This really strong guy, he's also got insane anger issues."

"Oh yeah?" The man tilted his head.

"Yeah."

"Well, I don't see him anywhere." The man grinned, taking a sip of his whiskey whilst Remus' jaw clenched.

"Well he's here."

"Really?"

"Yeah, and if he knew that you were talking like this, he wouldn't hesitate to punch you across your face and kick the living shit out of you."

The man chuckled. "Trust me, he wouldn't get a chance to try."

It was as if the stars aligned when you walked up to Remus and wrapped your hands around his arm.

"Remmy, why are you taking so long?" You whined, clearly a bit tipsy as you rested your head on his shoulder.

"Are you missing me?" He grinned, finding humour in the man's suddenly afraid expression.

"Yeah, Siri and James are being stupid and the girls are talking about going to Vegas, and I just wanna go to bed." You yawned, closing your eyes against Remus' arm as he chuckled and shifted his arm around your shoulder so you could rest your head against his chest.

"Okay, I'm coming back now." He grabbed his beer and smirked at the man who gulped and looked away from his intimidating stare whilst the two of you walked away.

"I heard you by the way." You mumbled.

"You did? 

"Yeah," You looked up at him and grinned.

"It's nice having such a protective boyfriend."

Remus repricated your grin, and ruffled your hair.

"It's nice having such a beautiful girlfriend."

You blushed, though you hid your face in his chest.

The next morning, you woke up with your head on Remus' bare chest as he twirled your hair between his fingers, staring at you with tired eyes and a smile on his face.

A chalkboard dangling on the outside of a red-painted barn, it promised a cornucopia of autumn treats: pumpkin spice coffee, apple cider donuts, caramel fudge. And Soleil, always armed with a penchant for sweets, imagined devouring it all. 'Tis the season.

As she mulled over what to get, children surrounding them chased each other around on the grass, using the giant pumpkin decorations as cover. A hayride passed on the gravel behind them. She turned to the other and wiggled her brows. "How 'bout we get, like, three things and share? Just like we used to, when we were kids. 'Member that?"

An undertaker whose life has been filled with grief stricken citizens who had recently lost a loved one. His kind heart has often soothed others when he speaks to them. Often staying up late into the night, he builds coffins for all sorts and basically lives in the upstairs of the funeral home that he operates. He uses his cutie mark, a candlestick with a coffin shaped handle and an almost fully melted candle on top.

The tiniest architect, this breezy pony designs buildings that specialize in deflecting sunlight to reduce heat inside of the building. His tiny size often gives him the advantage of being able to inspect small discrepancies that may show up when the building is being built. It has been said that with his coat color, he has blended with the very blue prints that he’s created.

Mimosa Mocktail Punch

10 servings

Mimosas are named after the yellow Mimosa flower.  The cocktail is traditionally made out of sparkling wine or champagne and orange juice and served in a tall flute glass.  This version uses sparking dry white wine that has the alcohol removed along with orange juice and is perfect for those who cannot consume alcoholic beverages.  Usually the sparkling wine and orange juice are used in equal amounts.

Ingredients

750 ml bottle of sparkling dry white wine with the alcohol removed (yes, it is available), chilled

3 cups orange juice, chilled

Directions:

Add the sparkling dry white wine to a large pitcher, followed by the orange juice. (no stirring is required this way.)  Serve to anyone not drinking alcoholic drinks like kids or pregnant women or anyone not able to drink alcohol like a designated driver. This is a great drink to serve at baby showers, bridal showers or any kind of gathering.

Note:

Wine with the alcohol removed is available online or at your liquor store

Any type of orange juice is fine but you might prefer pulp free to make the drink.  

Use different juices instead of orange juice to make different drinks.  

A poinsettia uses cranberry juice.

A lemosa uses lemonade.

A vermosa uses apple cider.

A soleil uses pineapple juice.

A megmosa uses grapefruit juice.

Punky Brewster is a work-obsessed home stager who meets a single dad and blah blah blah. Urkel is her boss that she is trying hard to impress. Soleil is great in this movie, and she is lit like a heavenly angel. Seriously, whoever did her lighting is doing her all the favors. Soleil and her lighting are the best thing about it. The script is very clunky and poorly written, most characters are flat and lack any dimension. Lucy's husband from 7th Heaven plays the male lead, who is a cardboard cutout of a person. His character has all of the charm and personality of a rock. Plus, this white dude really thinks he invented cinnamon vanilla lattes. His power-dressing, pretty lesbian sister is almost equally unmoving. And there is obviously nothing in all these coffee cups. 6/10 ciders - not the best use of your time. Come for Soleil, stay for Soleil.

🎵 All Aikatsu Stars Cafe @ AniOn Station Akihabara / Feb 10th 🎵 

this was at least my 6th time at some version of this cafe, which has had at least 3 different revivals or extensions... I’m glad it’s been popular enough to keep coming back, because it’s my favorite of any anime cafe I’ve ever been to!

...admittedly, this time wasn’t quite as perfect as it’s been before. I’ll get the main not-so-great thing out of the way first: the previous times I’ve been to the cafe, they had various aikatsu & aistars songs playing, which is wonderful and exactly what I’d expect from an aikatsu-music-themed cafe... but this time, they made the incomprehensible choice of having aikatsu series BGM playing most of the time, and only playing 1-2 minute clips of songs that cafe attendees requested in these extremely brief “Juke Box Rock On” times... looking at the site, they only do that a measly five times each day, too.

the anime BGM is both good and recognizable, but it really doesn’t compare to having a Tristar song come on by chance as you drink the Tristar drink or whatever. I strongly hope this isn’t the system they use when they inevitably bring the cafe back for a Aikatsu Friends round!

other than that, everything was great!! here’s what I ordered:

I picked the DreAca Doria because it was the most ambitious thing I could handle for breakfast. it had shrimp and broccoli, and was at the exact same level as your average family restaurant doria... which is fine. (meanwhile, everyone else in the cafe seemed to have ordered the Yotsuboshi Academy Curry, making the whole place smell curried.)

I got four drinks, starting with the Soleil and Tristar ones (they’re my favorites from past visits). the Soleil drink is orange juice with strawberry jelly, exactly what I would actually want for breakfast. the Tristar drink is grape juice with cassis ice cream and I love it! it’s both very tart and very sweet.

after that, I ordered the Yotsuboshi Academy and More Than True drinks. the Yotsuboshi Academy drink is just plain old strawberry milk, but with the star- and heart-shaped sprinkles in it, it’s the cutest thing on the menu. it’s pretty mild so it was a nice change from all the other intensely fruity drinks I ordered.

I was a little suspicious of the More Than True drink, but I desperately wanted the coaster that came with it so I got it anyway... and it ended up being my favorite by far!! it’s a mix of blue curaçao syrup (non-alcoholic), cassis syrup, and cider, with a lemon slice slapped on top. now I only really like one of those things, but the carbonation wasn’t too strong, and for some reason all of the different flavors tasted so good together!! it was sweet and citrusy and I hope I can have it again sometime. (the blue was a lot brighter than in the photo, but the venue is so dark it didn’t show up.)

you get a coaster with each drink and a CD cover-style picture with each food, so here’s what I got:

...honestly, most of my orders were based on which of these I wanted. you also get a song request ticket (for the Juke Box Rock On time) every something amount of money you spend, and they have about a million different patterns for them. I got these:

I’m especially happy with the So Beautiful Story one on the bottom!! and Hime-senpai of course, though it’s a double from the last time I went. (the tickets in the background of these photos are from my past trips there.)

there were a lot of different goods available at the the cafe, but I couldn’t make it to Tokyo till the final weekend, so almost everything was sold out.... including the More Than True badges I was super excited about 💔  at least I was expecting it from my previous visits. they still had the SD character badges left though, and I had pretty good luck with them! (here they are again, so you don’t have to scroll up.)

only one double, and I got the Yurika-sama I was aiming for. I wish I’d gotten one more aistars idol to match Rola, but oh well. these have a pin and a magnet on the back, so they’re all on my fridge right now.

thankfully, they did have the More Than True band--in fact, it was the only other thing they had--so I got that too!! there’ll never be a More Than True event I can wear it to, but I have it. (it’s never come up on my blog, but I really, really, really like More Than True.... . so cool...)

I didn’t bother taking any pictures of the cafe itself because a) it was my 6th time there but also b) it wasn’t decorated as much as previous incarnations were. there was no aistars arcade game set up to play like there has been previously, and posters and tv screens throughout the room were actually the only decorations.

I guess that wasn’t a great point either, but all of that said, I think I would have been entirely satisfied had I not been to the earlier ones. if I ever get enough motivation to post my photos from before, you’ll see what I mean!! ;; but the venue’s look is neat enough on its own that I didn’t mind too much.

overall, I enjoyed it and I would definitely recommend it... or a possible future version of it! I’ve got my fingers crossed for another after Aikatsu Friends starts.
