From where he lies beside you, you feel a hand rest atop yours, calloused fingertips brushing your knuckles.

‘Can I ask you something?’

‘Mhm,’ you hum in assent, ‘ ‘course.’

‘Were there ever any of the other “me”s that you… liked more than, well, me…?’

‘What? No, Mark, of course not. Why would you–? No. You're my Mark. Hey,’ You take his face in both your hands, gently making him meet your eyes. ‘I didn't go halfway across the multiverse just to find any old Mark.’

He gives a small laugh and you press your lips to his forehead before returning your gaze to look directly into his.

‘I'm sure the other "me"s out there have their own "you"s that they cherish in their own ways, and some of them could be enemies, in a sense, or even strangers. But that's their business. I love you. This you. More than anything or anyone — and I mean anyone. I don't know how many times I have to tell you that for you to fully believe you deserve it, or truly understand how much I mean it, but I'll remind you forever if I have to.’

It's dark in the room and you can just about make out his eyes and other features, but you can feel the slight tingle of warmth on his cheeks, imagine the blush tinting his face.

‘Forever's a long time,’ he says, voice low and soft and undeniably adoring.

‘Yeah, well, I think we both know the meaning of “a long time” better than maybe anyone. And in all that time — all those lifetimes, all those universes, I would always choose you, no matter what.'

He buries his face in the crook of your neck, using your upper arm as a pillow. His arms wind around your torso, pulling you close. You wrap your free arm over his back, stroking his dark curls and winding them gently, comfortingly, between and around your fingers.

‘I love you,’ he whispers against you. ‘You’re my whole universe, my everything. You're the only you I want, too.’

You want to wrap him up in your heart, deep within the warmth of your chest. But since you can't, you settle for holding him tighter, every night, and you never let go.

lyney's character story about his vision revealing arlecchino didn't allow him to use a delusion and was genuinely angry that he would do something lynette wouldn't want for him, encouraging him to find other solutions... the way she was also sad lyney didn't feel comfortable relying on her during the quest... she really cares about the kids. her smile while speaking to furina also looked sincere. even though one can debate if this is all an act to make them trust and be loyal to her (as said by her, "good actors hone their craft to mesmerise the whole crowd") or acknowledge the fact she's using the kids by making them part of the fatui, she genuinely seems to cherish them. at least she goes through lengths that aren't really necessary for her not to care. the way she reformed the orphanage, the way she helped freminet get closure on his mother's fate... i just think it goes to show and confirm once more how biased everything/everyone in the game is. sometimes bordering unreliable, really. scara and childe's lines about her paint her in a certain light, which i'm not saying isn't true quite the opposite, but that persona seems to coexists with the version the kids from the house of the hearth know.

He wonders if Armand ever taught her to properly dance, but as soon as her hand grips his shoulder, it does not feel important. The steps don't matter, nor do the counts, the posture, the timing. seeing your snoring hc immediately made me think: when they were younger, kaeya would throw a pillow into diluc's face from the other side of the room (with surprising precision, i must add) because his brother's snoring wouldn't let him sleep lmao. "diluc, wake up!" "...what?" "stop snoring" "i— i wasn't snoring—" "YES YOU WERE SHUT THE FUCK UP"

as they got older and went separated ways, kaeya would find himself strangely nostalgic at the lack of noise when he went to sleep. it was quiet, maybe too quiet. The silence reminded him of his loneliness.

as for diluc, adelinde didn't have the heart to tell him, so he just went unaware of the issue for a LONG time.

Kaeya's lover would eventually learn that he actually is a way heavier sleeper than it seems, soft words and whispers didn't work to wake him up at all, which was is an issue when he falls sleep enveloping his lover in a tight embrace, not letting them go even for urgent things like using the bathroom or going to open the door when someone knocked in the early morning. "I had to live with a terrible snorer as a kid," he would explain later, hand gently caressing your face. "I guess I had to adapt if I ever wanted to sleep at all."

Diluc's lover would have the difficult tasks of finding out unannounced. But it's no trouble! Sometimes giving him a gentle push would help him adjust his posture and stop his snoring. And he actually wakes up easier that someone else. "I was... snoring?" He would blush to the tip of his ears, apologies flying from his pretty lips "I'm so sorry I woke you up, my love...!"

But it's okay. Cradle him in your arms, find a comfortable position. He will fall sleep again in no time, specially if you thread your fingers in his fiery hair, and maybe with your help he will be less stressed and snore a little bit less (not a permanent solution, it seems. But it's kind of cute, anyways)

He’s never been a good dancer, is the problem. Not in the traditional sense, at least. Get him in the club floor, or in front of a pole, and he’s golden, but this...this traditional slow dance bullshit is not his strong suit. To his credit, he’s tried his best. But even as a child, under the strict etiquette tutelage of his father, he could never seem to get it right (much to Allison’s dismay, as well). 

But the stakes are much lower, here in their little living room. He’s not representing the Hargreeves name at some schmoozy charity gala, not undercover on any sort of mission. Just dancing with Manfred, because he’d asked him to, because they can. 

“My brain is happy too. And my heart. And...other parts of me.” He waggles his brow, rocks back and forth and still manages to step on Manfred’s foot.

Robin had been babysitter while Nancy and Steve had gone to have a date night. Babysitting had entailed eating so much sugar, makeovers with Nancy’s makeup, watching cartoons and building a pillow fort in the living room with the kids. Robin was still in the fort almost falling asleep, with the kids when she heard the door and Nancy’s voice. The girls were curled up asleep, Oreo had settled beside Bailey and Muffin was with Jackie.

They had so much fun the night before that Bailey despite wanting to stay up and be the first person to greet mom and dad passed the hell out in the pile. It was so cozy and warm but when he heard Nancy's voice and Steve's gentle snicker his eyes crack open.

" Mom...? Dad...? " the room is still blurry so he didn't know who is in front of him while he sat up and rubs his eyes and nudged Jackie.
