SO.CRATES FEAT. ALLYSHA JOY - DIVIDE (30/70 RE-WORK)
Melbourne experimental band 30/70 earned a comfortable spot at scratchtheblock.com thanks their impressive music that can be described as a sumptuous sound that is woven with jazz,future-soul and hip-hop! Today we serve you up a brilliant recalibration of the song called Divide , whose original version is included on da project Static Methods EP released last year by SO.Crates.
SO.Crates is a dynamic underground hip-hop duo composed by Melbourne beatsmith Skomes and California-bred emcee Cazeaux O.S.L.O. Their works exude a strong penchant for jazz-hop and typical 90s hip-hop sonorities.
Well, da outstanding and supa-rifened revisitation of Divide finely handled by 30/70 enhanced with da intoxicating vocals of Allysha Joy is something you should include to your own collection , especially if you’re into experimental sonorities.

So.crates : Malcolm After Mecca
The brothers So.Crates worked on a beautiful album which they dropped the other month. The launch was love. The name of the album, Malcolm after Mecca = El Hajj Malik El Shabazz. Reference, to a state of consciousness which represents a pinnacle and a highest expression of being. Encapsulating a deep understanding of the social, political, cultural, and material conditions that exist in this world. Perceiving these forces in real time, with the ability to express and engage with them, creating ways to change and challenge these paradigms and systems in meaningful ways. We see this fully expressed in the last stages of the life of El Hajj Malik El Shabazz, when he was willing to work with anyone who genuinely wanted to build a better world. He traveled the planet building with world leaders, creating solidarity with African Nations, Cuba and Palestine. Global revolutionary work, that began from his community. The precision and clarity of his critiques still ring true today. They speak through time. An integrity, passion, insight and humor which is rare. Read the 'Autobiography of Malcolm X' if you haven't. Listen to his speeches. A source of power when your spirit is low. 🖤

5 local rappers making boom-bap great again
For some people, this new-wave in AUS is about moving past boom-bap. For others, it’s simply about making dope music. Just listen to Sampa The Great, Remi, Baro, Geek or anyone on this page to find out why 90s-inspired rap music will always be relevant.
ZION GARCIA is a 15 year-old SYDNEY boi who spits soulful rap-melodies over refreshingly smooth self-produced beats. There’s nothing cliche about his guy. His lyrics, voice, production and overall vibe come dripping with feels.
“HONEY” & “grainofsalt” are both dope + show off ZION’s range as an artist.
TEETHER is a Melbourne MC gaining new fans by the minute with his twisted take on old-school rap. Actually, there’s nothing old about the music he makes.
His track “HARBOUR” (produced by MELBOURNE beat-lord STONESET) will turn you into a super-villain.
The NOBLE NATIVEZ are one of Melbourne’s most respected young rap-cliques. Partially because they don’t follow trends and partially because their music is dope.
NYLTCK’s “1999”, shows what these guys are already capable of. On “widoutchu” MUNK & NYLTCK flex-lyrical, serving-up a sound that feels fresh as anything coming out of AUS.

If you’re from MELBOURNE, you’ve probably walked into a random venue and been blown away by CAZEAUX O.S.L.O's world class vocal offerings. Live & in the studio, this guy & SKOMES have always held-down for local rap-purists. Togethor, SO.CRATES passion for morally sound, yet highly engaging rap-music is super infectious.
Producer/rapper KONNKER can make absolutely anything sound soulful. His beats transport you to a tropical dream-world. This dude isn’t afraid to infuse jazzy samples with booming sub-bass + modern trap elements. Keep an ear out for more raps from him too!
This beat is all-time.
Also, gotta leave some MOBSTAH here. GOAT

Inflorescence 04
My first day at home in like two weeks and it feels so nice. Sorry if your emails went unreplied, there are just not enough hours in the day. Super excited to share some things I either came across in my inbox or out there in the beautiful, weird wide web. Local gold this week from Melbourne’s SO.Crates (feat. Allysha Joy) and Perth’s K Wilson, alongside new material from Bitte Please & c.p
SO.Crates - Her Hands (feat. Allysha Joy)
Smoothest of the smooth. That guitar, that piano and Allysha’s voice are just perfect. I’m super late to this one, but this is one of my favourite tracks of the year.
K Wilson - 4.
Beautiful, spacious ambience from K Wilson via exciting new Perth label, New Leaf Inc. Gorgeous collage of different sounds to make for really enjoyable listen.
Bitte Please - The Lamp Is High
Those jazzy chords really pulled me in deep. Nice and slow, every sound so effective and tasteful in this one.
c.p - i don’t
Dark, resentful heartbreak over lo-fi samples, it’s no pick me up but captures something truly honest and intimate.
