Surprising thing about Dandadan is Okarun randomly pulls different girls throughout the manga, but all of their feelings for him are not very deep (you could argue Aira, but I think her feelings were kinda insta-love which is then used as mostly a gag- kinda unsrs to watch)

-Aira is already obsessed with him the next time they meet

-Vamola is obsessed with him after a random kiss (then ends up being explained it was for plot and not real romantic feelings)

-Rin- what foundation, and her whole vampire attraction moment was literally a joke 😭🖐

But Momo's relationship with Jiji then later Unji are taken much more seriously with strong foundations for why they have feelings/might be growing feelings for her, while also feeling realistic and subtle

Like I'm sorry but this was cute and we have never gotten a such a significantly intimate moment like this from Okarun with any of Momo's love rivals 🖐

Zuma got a whole arc with her to himself like??? Insane you can tell when Yukinobu locks in for the love rival plots LOL

In exchange for Momo's outward very obvious bursts of hilarious jealousy we get more complex love rivals for Okarun to battle lmao, least that's how I see it

(By "more complex" I mean in regards to them as love rivals, all the characters are equally complex as just characters)

Okarun got game but Momo got GAME GAME like they sense her baddie wife energy

Momo is a total catch like she's literally MVP for almost all the fights in Dandadan, and the only times she isn't is when she literally isn't present- so I don't blame them 😌💅✨️✨️✨️

And ofc in the end all these people's feelings for our MCs are only there to develop their romance, bc they obviously only want each other

Sidenote ppl who are like "wow a pretty girl has to be paired with a nerdy loser guy again"

I literally giffed this entire exchange just to talk at length about this:

The airplane chess match scene in DOFP where Charles and Erik talk is loaded with facial expressions and tiny details that absolutely kill me every time and add so many layers to not only the conversation but their relationship’s entire history up until this point. AND I WANNA TALK ABOUT IT!! LET’S BREAK IT DOWNNNN

So first, they’re talking about Paris and Raven and their mission and all that stuff. Erik closes out the topic by saying:

“…Not if we change history tomorrow.”

Charles’ face kills me 😭

He looks like he doesn’t even care about talking about Paris and Raven anymore, he’s just losing himself in Erik’s gaze and his presence and is lost in the nostalgia of their relationship and thinking about everything that’s happened between them.

And this is the first time they’ve talked, REALLY talked, since Cuba. There’s a lot of baggage between them, lots of memories, lots of pain. You can SEE the history in their eyes, in the way they look at each other.

And Erik probably sensed the tension and that there are some things that need to be said, because he says:

“I’m sorry, Charles.”

And what does Charles do????

He has THIS expression:

This look says so much without him saying a word. To me, his expression is his response to Erik’s apology, he’s saying “For what? You’re sorry for what?”

And what Erik does next kills my Cherik heart a SECOND TIME (my Cherik heart does not survive this interaction).

He says:

“For…what happened, I truly am.”

AND HE LOOKS/NODS AT CHARLES’ LEGS. He says it with such softness and sincerity, this is their first genuine conversation in years.

And what CHARLES DOES KILLS ME EVEN MORE:

He IMMEDIATELY backs down and stretches, releasing all his tension. An apology, specifically about Cuba, was ALL he was waiting for. That’s ALL he wanted. After he gets that…

…Charles goes one step further and immediately settles down to play chess when just minutes earlier he had been so against playing.

After they get settled, Charles says,

“You have the first move.”

And THE WAY ERIK LOOKS AT HIM 😭😭😭😭😭😭
