KDrama Year in Review 2023
While I watched more KDramas this year than CDramas, none of them consumed my heart and soul quite like this year's crop of CDramas did (CDrama review post here). And I dropped KDramas more readily than I have in years past, in part because there were so many more things to watch than I had time for (also I had to finish my dissertation and graduate, etc etc). Still, there were definitely some that I really, really enjoyed, so here's this year's KDrama round up:
16. My Lovely Liar: Started strong, got boring real quick. Dropped for homophobic murder plot. Still, glad to see that Hwang Min Hyn can actually act (although full disclosure, I did still enjoy him in Alchemy of Souls, wooden as that performance may be). Hoping Kim So Hyun can catch a break and get a role in a drama more worthy of her in the near future.
15. Crash Course in Romance: Excellent performances and chemistry by the ML and FL. Romance between two middle aged people instead of youths is also a treat. Dropped around ep 12 because of the unnecessary, homophobic murder plot. Pass.
14. A Good Day to Be a Dog: Surprisingly stronger than the goofy premise suggests, largely on the basis of Park Gyu-Young's performance as the FL who turns into a dog upon being kissed. Pacing problems in the third act around the origins of the whole dog curse thing. Can't say I recommend unless you're really in the mood for some shenanigans, but largely inoffensive if a little silly. (Also it turns out Cha Eun Woo *really* leveled up his kiss game for this one!)
13. Love to Hate You: Perfectly serviceable rom com. Nothing too special, but a nice weekend binge if you're in the mood for that. Also a good way to see Kim Ji-Hoon's v handsome face and that *hair* without having to deal with everything involved with his rather murderous run in Flower of Evil.
12. Joseon Attorney: A Morality: Perfectly serviceable law procedural/Joseon historical. If you don't like either of those genres your mileage may vary, but I had missed having Bona on my screen, so it worked well enough for me.
11. Welcome to Samdal-ri: I seem to like this one more than literally everyone else I know, and I fully admit that my enjoyment of this drama is more vibes-based than plot-based. I guess I have a soft spot for Shin Hye Sun yelling at people at Ji Chang Wook going a bit unhinged over a woman who ran away from him (see also: Lovestruck in the City).
10. My Demon: Very much enjoying Song Kang as a cranky demon falling in love with a human. Very tropey in the best way, and feels like a return to form for the supernatural romance genre. Remains to be seen if they'll land the ending as of this writing, but enjoying as it goes.
9. Doctor Cha: A contribution to the slate of divorce comedies I watched this year (see also: Strangers Again (KDrama) and Let's Get Divorced (JDrama)), a surprisingly touching story about growing older when you've devoted your life to someone who has not done the same for you.
8. Alchemy of Souls: Light and Shadow (Part 2): While Ko Joon-Yung never quite managed to replace Jung So-Min as the FL for me, I definitely still enjoyed the closer to this fun fantasy series. Special shout out to Shin Seung-Ho as Prince Go Won and his pet turtle
7. Strangers Again: I didn't see a ton about this one on tumblr as it was airing, but I found this rom com? melodrama? divorce procedural? makjang? story about relationships and why they end unexpectedly profound. I tuned in expecting mindless makjang hot mess, and instead got a thoughtful meditation on divorce. Left me feeling unexpectedly melancholy at the end, but glad I watched it.
6. The Secret Romantic Guesthouse: Very fun sageuk! Probably won't knock your socks off, but it does what it does very well. Bonus points for a B couple as compelling as the A couple. I've also been a big Kang Hoon fan since Little Women, and there are a couple of other actors in here that I'm always glad to see working.
5. Perfect Marriage Revenge: Tour de force makjang. Came out of nowhere and blew me away. Hits all the right beats, and unexpectedly fun (and was a nice break from the heaviness of My Dearest for me). This was a good year for jaded and slightly unhinged transmigrated FL's back for their #revenge (see also: Story of Kunning Palace in CDrama land), and I was here for it. Also features one of the spiciest make-out scenes of the year, 10/10 recommend
4. See You in My 19th Life: Absolutely loved this haunting, melancholy, and sometimes unexpectedly goofy reincarnation drama. I loved the webtoon and had high expectations, and this drama largely met them! The continuing relationship between sisters Ji-Eum (Shin Hye Sun) and Cho-Won (Ha Yoon Kyung) was a special highlight for me, and while Shin Hye Sun is already a never-miss for me, I'm especially looking forward to whatever Ha Yoon Kyung does next. I prefer the ending of the Webtoon to the KDrama, but I'm still delighted this drama exists and am glad I watched it.
3. The Interest of Love: Look, I loved this drama. Even though it seemed on the surface like nothing but *mess* in the interpersonal lives of these characters working at a bank on the border between a rich and poor neighborhood in Seoul, it nonetheless had some of the most searing class commentary of the year for me. I also love an FL who will (spoiler) pack up her things and disappear at the drop of a hat, even if no one else will understand her decision to do so, because she just cannot deal anymore (see also: the FL in Lovestruck in the City, whom I also love but everyone else hated). This drama kept me gleefully coming back every week in a year where not a lot of others did.
2. Call It Love: A revenge slice of life melodrama that I found unexpectedly touching in its deep melancholy. Loved not only the main couple, but the relationship between the siblings and their pharmacist bestie. A lovely character study. (Also I somehow ended up watching this at the same time as Till the End of the Moon and Li Susu as Ye Xiwu's hidden identity/revenge plot, which was unexpectedly stressful! Had a very "it's the same picture" moment despite two dramas in two genres that could not be further apart.) If you missed this one (and since it aired on Disney+, you might have--Disney+'s effects on the KDrama streaming ecosystem will be the death of me), it's worth seeking out!
1. My Dearest (Parts 1 and 2): Kind of feels like everyone has said everything there is to say about sageuk of truly epic proportions, but it blew me away as well. Epic romance? Check. Twisty political machinations? Check. Heartwarming friendships between women? Check. Strong ensemble cast? And my top FL of the year, Lady Gil-Chae, played to perfection by Ahn Eun-Jin. I've adored her since Hospital Playlist, and am delighted that she's getting the attention and the roles she deserves. Namkoong Min also a top contender for ML of the year as Lee Jang-Hyun. Part 2 dragged for me a bit in places after a nearly perfect Part 1, but such a great drama overall.
Favorite Drama of the Year: My Dearest. See above.
Favorite Female Character: I mean, it's gotta be Gil Chae from My Dearest, right? She starts out as such a spiteful, spoiled noblewoman, and then turns out to have a core of pure steel. Turns out all her conniving and strategizing, which went towards causing mischief in the village, really just needed a proper outlet. While I would never want to be in the circumstances in which she found herself, if I did, she's exactly who I would want on my side.
Favorite Male Character: Everything's coming up My Dearest this year, because this one is Lee Jang-Hyun in My Dearest as well. Checks the box for my competence kink, and has a knack for showing up just when Gil-Chae needs him, even at great personal cost. Also a smart-ass, which I probably like a bit too much in a man.
Favorite Secondary Female Character: Cho-Won from See You in My 19th Life. Her relationship with her reincarnated older sister was almost more compelling to me than the main romance sometimes, and really helped develop how the ties that bind us are not just romantic ones. Also she was just super cute
Favorite Secondary Male Character: Could have picked anyone from Team Himbo in Alchemy of Souls, but gonna have to give this one to Go Won, himbo prince of my heart
Favorite Ship: Again, it's gotta be Gil-Chae and Lee Jang-Hyun in My Dearest. Sometimes, there are drama couples that nearly cause me pain when they are apart, and these two quickly became one of them. Though their relationships is hardly functional for much of it, through all that push and pull, they ultimately learn how to show up for each other. Also, their *chemistry* is insane!
Favorite Secondary Ship: I loved Hye-Seong and Sung Joon, the B couple in Call it Love. Seeing the SFL grow more comfortable with herself after a truly shitty ending to her previous relationship was a nice respite from the hidden identity stress of the A couple in this one. I'm also a sucker for a good romance where you start to see someone you've long taken for granted differently. (Close Runner Up: Cho Won and Do-Yun in See You in My 19th Life)
Favorite Platonic Relationship: Gil-Chae, Eun-Ae, and their maids, Jong Jong and Bong Doo, in My Dearest. I loved loved loved the relationship between these women in this drama, and part of the reason the second half of the drama suffered a bit for me is because of how far it moved away from this core relationship. They were ride or die for each other more than the majority of the men in their lives, and I loved that for them.
Trope that Needs to Die: While I find murder plots in rom coms tedious at the best of times, homophobic murder plots are really not it. Quit it, y'all. It's not cute.
Dramas I Missed: Moon in the Day, The Story of Park's Marriage Contract, and Tell Me That You Love Me (grrr Disney+ on this one) are on the list for next year. I'm probably missing others.
Non-2023 Drama Spotlight: Finally went back and watched Do You Like Brahms? for a hit of Park Eun-Bin. A lovely, if also melancholy, slice of life romance that's just as much about what to do when a (career related) dream that you've worked really, really hard for just isn't going to come through as it is about the main romance. Also made me fall in love with Kim Min-Jae and his lovely deep voice, enough so that I also then went back and finally watched Dali and the Cocky Prince, which was also a treat. Recommend both.
Most Looking Forward To: I continue to yearn for a Yumi's Cells 3, and who's to say if that one will ever come through, but I'm putting it out into the universe anyway. More realistically, I'm looking forward to the surprisingly stacked line-up of sageuks coming up, including Captivating the King and Love Song for Illusion.

Warning: this is a longggg post😅😅
Another ooc post..shh ik yall want futturman not me just GIVE ME A MIN LMAO. U may or may not know this account is 5 months old now (very woo..very wow) I mentioned in my last post it def has been a major twist in my life, considering the fact I'm literally acting like one of my fav fictional characters basically 99.9 % of the time haha. Yes, there has been MANY awesome great things that come with this account, but there has also been lots of negative (unfortunately but hey hey hey dw we move onnn!! big swagarooneyyy ya feel me lemon peppas??🤙) This is another reminder, a very important one, that yes even tho this is a roleplay account and the purpose is that it's supposed to literally be josh, pls remember I am UNFORTUNATELY not josh futturman😩😩😩😩(I mean fuck we r very similar but..) I am a human behind the screen, not ai. Pls be respectful..this includes to ALL. Roleplay accounts. Clearly I'm ok with a loT on this account (aka silly reblogs, spicy dms, very nsfw asks u name it) but as a human who has human experiences I am not alwayssss able to comply to some things and that's ok. There r pros and cons to running an account like this..sometimes u wake up to 50+ notifs, sometimes u wake up to 0. If for some reason I miss or don't reply to ur post, it's very possible it got lost in the sea on notifs, I seen it and told myself I'd get back to it when I had a proper futturman-like reply(happens but i do get back within the week), and/or I ignored it bc it made me uncomfy/confused. Usually in that last case it's because I'm aware ur a minor and u replied to a nsfw post in an even more nsfw manner (tss tss haha). If u really want josh to see a post, feel free to tag him, I'm not against that😁 Sometimes as a roleplayer (other ppl have agreed) that it can feel pressuring to run our pages and keep up with the notifications and dms, so pls pls have patience. And if u dont get quick replies back or begin to grow angry bc josh does not dm u the way u may have wanted or something, respectfully maybe touch grass aha..I am doing my best. There were some past followers that soley used my character for sex purposes and if that's what u want, there are PLENTY of ai platforms u can run and cum to as many times as you'd like🔥🔥(yes some shit is allowed but lets not only hmu to help u rub one out😅..josh is flattered tho LMFAO)somedays ofc we all get posters block (similar to writers or art block..I just made this up haha) especially to the accounts that have been around for longer..we r doing our best trying to come up with unique ideas to keep the characters alive without repeating the same content over and over😅so also to those who help throw cool stuff in our inbox to open new doors and ideas for the character, thanks a million..a roleplay account continues to live from both parties. On that note, the jhutch fandom is lowkey dying atm, especially the tumblr one. I completely understand whether ur hyperfixation is dying or u r busy with school/personal life..I hope u guys understand that I can be busy too, hence why some days I am not as active as other days. I've also contemplated deleting this account a lot of times due to the fact that I can get overwhelmed sometimes+I feel silly role-playing a character when I myself am even more of a loser than josh haha so I'm always like 😃wtf am I doing josh hutcherson would probably think I'm insane for this😃 ofcourse I'm not sure if this is like..the maturist thing to do at my grown ass age but whateva😅if I do decide to take any breaks in the future pls don't be mad☹️
So yea um..ik that was a whole fucking lot of a mess but I feel like I had to get those points out b4 I continued this account and I really hope u guys can respect & understand my feelings..if not ☺️dm me what u don't like. I'd LOVE. To have a conversation with u about what u don't like about my account that i run🙈 if ur seeing this, thank u for taking the time out to read all of this. Means a lot to me to know I've made atleast one person in the jhutch fandom smile thru my page💛
-sincerely 🃏

trick or treat!
here, have my brownie cookie recipe! it had to be edited a bit bc I bake this recipe primarily on Vibes, so uh. woo! it yields somewhere between two and three dozen cookies depending on how big you make them
I'd recommend setting aside two or three hours to bake, especially if you can't bake all the batter at the same time or holding up the hand mixer makes your hand/wrist/arm hurt something awful. personally I lay on the floor while things are baking to recuperate 👍 btw if there's no eggs in the batter at that moment it can sit out on the counter for a few hours, if there are eggs and you need a break put it in the fridge (preferably covered but it'll probably be fine if not)
ingredients:
1 1/2 cup brown sugar
however much vegetable shortening your heart desires (aka enough to make the brown sugar smooth) (about 2/3 cup, I think)
2 eggs, 1 egg one applesauce*, or two applesauce**
1 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
if two eggs - one tablespoon water. one egg one applesauce- one teaspoon. two applesauce - no water
1 1/2 cup flour
1/3 cup cocoa powder
1/4 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
chocolate chips
*when I say 'an applesauce' I mean those snack size lil containers, about... 1/3, 1/2 cup? not sure tbh
**the batter tastes better if you use eggs, but the cookies' texture is a bit better if you use applesauce (I'm not a huge fan of the batter in general, but my siblings who love it told me this)
directions:
1. preheat oven to 375° and put parchment paper (not wax paper!) on a baking sheet (aka Big Pan)
2. beat sugar + shortening in a bowl until smooth (use a hand/stand/electric mixer, not a whisk. you'd get tired before it mixes fully if you did)
3. add one egg/applesauce, beat
4. add other egg/applesauce + vanilla + water (if applicable)
5. mix dry stuff in other bowl (this is mainly so it's evenly distributed, you could just dump the dry ingredients in with the wet if you want)
6. beat everything together
7. add chocolate chips (don't beat, just like. stir or fold it)
8. drop spoonfuls onto parchment paper about 1-1.5 inches apart (depending on how big your spoonfuls are)
9. start at 10 min, might take up to 15 to bake

The Sorcerer’s Apprentice (2010)
Smoking: Papa Smurf {I had attempted to rolls some jays for the movie but for some reason they wouldn’t stay sealed 😥}
Here is the little description from Disney+ “A modern-day sorcerer must make his seemingly average recruit into the ultimate apprentice.” I feel it sums it accurately. Now for my high mind to write this week’s entry 😊
We start off with a background on the 3 sorcerers that worked under Merlin, James A Stephens, and the evil Morgana, Alice Krige. We have Nicolas Cage playing Balthazar and Alfred Molina playing Horvath the dueling for good and evil. Then we get a glimpse a little more into the future of a young boy named Dave who is found out to be the Prime Merlinean.
Now we go 10 years later and adult Dave is played by Jay Baruchel. The voice of Hiccup in How to Train Your Dragon. I love the relationship Dave has with Bennet, played by Omar Benson Miller. Bennet wants to help him not be by himself and spend time with friends so he doesn’t get stuck in his science projects alone.
Nicolas Cage coming into save the day by turning wolves to puppies while riding a giant metal eagle. I mean can you talk about an entrance!
One of my favorite parts is coming up. The fight in China Town, and on top of that during a festival! We have the fight between Balthazar and Sun-Lok played by Gregory Woo. He has this really cool power where he turned one of the festival paper dragons into a real dragon and chase Dave around. I love how they use the confetti. Its just floating down gracefully, and then they use magic to manipulate it as well.
I’m watching the movie right now on Disney+, but I also have the DVD as well. In the special features they go into details about how they made the Merlin Circle because they didn’t want it to be put in but have it be real. Now I don’t remember a lot about what was said, okay okay, any of what was said ahahah, but I remember thinking it was interesting lol.
Watching Jay try to make a plasma bolt is hilarious! It’s like a whole training sequence where he is basically failing, and failing hilariously.
Now we have Horvath trying to get some more help by reaching out to Drake Stone, played by Toby Kebbell. He uses his sorcerer abilities to be a magician and make money by doing shows. Very good looking and killer accent 😍
There is a Star Wars reference in this movie. Thinking about it. I wonder if in some how Disney new that 2 years after this movie came out they would take the Star Wars franchise?
Then they is the wonderful scene where Dave leaves his lab to be cleaned by his magic. This scene was done with a lot of people in green outfits being different kinds of cleaning supplies. It is an ode to the scene in Fantasia where Mickey Mouse puts on Merlin’s hat and does the same thing with the brooms and mops. They did a REALLY good job putting it all together.
And I just got a 10min interruption by a cat. Calcifur apparently needed my attention for a little while lol.
Snack Break!
I got this way too huge slice of cake. Its soooo good and coconutty 🤤
Can’t believe I’ve gotten almost 600 words in and haven’t even mentioned Dave’s love interest Becky, played by Teresa Palmer. They have a very cute relationship that buds throughout the movie.
Now we get to the last battle. Morgana has been brought back through the 3rd sorcerer Veronica, played by Monica Bellucci. Morgana’s soul is connected to Veronica’s and she is trying to complete the ritual she was stopped from in the beginning of the movie.
We have Balthazar and Horvath battling each other while she is shooting fire balls up in the sky and no one in New York is paying any attention to it. Nor was I for the last 5 mins lol. I got distracted on my phone for a minute there.
Dave gets to battle Morgana in the end, and you know, stuff happens. Once again, trying not to ruin stuff here lol!
Hope you enjoyed this week’s review! Till next time ❤

GreyG : group formation
2021, November:
Ijin:
I've been a Trainee at SM Entertainment for more than 1 year. Today I am preparing for the weekend assessment. Stressful, I've been afraid he'll eliminate me for 1 years, and yet I'm still here. When I was 13, I auditioned in Europe, and coincidentally, I was accepted. I didn't believe it, neither did my parents. But apparently I liked them. My parents took a while to agree to send me to Korea when I was 13 years old. I was young, yet they already knew that I wanted to become an idol, they thought it was my chance.
And thanks to their support, I am here today preparing to avoid elimination.
Jin Sol:
An hour, an hour that I wait impatiently for the start of the weekend check. Pretty much like elimination basically, if you no longer meet the requirements of the mentors, well, you say goodbye to your dream of starting out at SM. I've been a Trainee since… since when? I'm 18 today, so it's been 3 years. I was recruited in front of my school by a nice woman. She told me that she really liked me, that I had the right style. I didn't understand but I followed her and today I do my stretching and vocalizations to avoid wasting this chance that I was given.
Chenny:
I don't really know what I'm doing here, to become an idol? Maybe ? Anyway, I'm paying the price. Today is the day of eliminations, maybe the mentors will be in a good mood, letting all the girls stay, or not. Anyway, we'll know in a few minutes. I'm on the ground, almost exhausted. I feel like my 5 years of Trainee are starting to weigh on me. I'm afraid of having made all these efforts for nothing, I'm afraid of regretting having made this choice. I get up trying to be positive though badly, it's not such a horrible experience, I met nice people, like Yerin, even if she's weird. I finish my stretches the moment we are called for elimination.
Gabi:
We enter the large training room, there were more than twenty girls, we were even more numerous but over time, the number dropped considerably. I hope to stay, I want to fulfill my dream. I've been a Trainee for about 2 years and I've always given it my all. I hope they realized that.
The mentors repeat the same things to us as they have for the past 3 years: Our invaluable chance of being a Trainee at SM, although we may be pretty and know how to move a little, we have to make a difference in this industry, as we should make sacrifices in life. That's why they break some so that others succeed. We line up, as always, and carefully scrutinize the rows, passing between each girl to observe us. They said nothing, unusual. That said, for some time now, they have been making us train on group choreographies more often. There is something to do with this unusual check. One of the mentors speaks.
_ You can all be ready and return to your usual occupations, except for a few.
How so ? Would it be for a new group? Some of us will soon be debuting.
_ I call Huang Chenny, Choi Yerin, Woo Ose Lynn, Ishiwari Aymio Ishi, Min Jin Sol, KIM GABI, Akane Sato, Da Heni, Lee Seo Ara and finally Lin Ijin.
I HAVE BEEN CALLED?! Did I hear my name correctly? The other girls all leave while I remain glued to the spot, in shock. They called me.
Heni:
I stay with the rest of the girls in the practice room. They mentioned my name, it means that I will be in a group with these girls. We all know each other but I'm mostly close to Ara and Ijin, they're the same age, I'm a year older even though it's Ijin who behaves like the oldest, she and Ara are still young, not to mention me. But still, we were selected. I don't believe in it somehow, yet I'm happy, I don't show it but maybe it's the result of my efforts.
Ijin: uh…maybe we should introduce ourselves formally, since we'll surely end up together, right?
Ijin is very calm and takes things well, it's amazing.
Ijin: Hello, I'm Lin Ijin, European Korean, Trainee for 1 year, being probably the youngest here, I'm 14 years old.
The girls who were each in their thoughts just now were all very attentive to Ijin's presentations.
Ijin: By the way Ijin, it's too formal, call me Iji, it's simpler.
The one who seemed to be called Jin Sol spoke up:
Jin Sol: Are you European??? It's so cool, your Korean is impeccable, do you know how to speak other languages?
Iji: Korean, English, French, German, I'm also learning Japanese for now.
Jin Sol: That's great! By the way I introduce myself, Min Jin Sol, 17 years old, Korean and Trainee at SM since 2018. I can't wait to get to know you all.
Akane:
Jin Sol was very energetic, it was nice to see. I felt like I was lazy around her. I slept little that night to train, it's a bit understandable. But his joy of living in his words gave me a little energy.
Akane: Uh…
I clear my voice a little and all the girls turn to me.
Akane: Hello everyone, I'm Akane Sato, I'm 16 years old and I'm Japanese. I've been a trainee here since 2018 too, and usually I never speak up on my own, but oddly it's easier with you.
Jin Sol: Nice to meet you!
She smiles with both of her, this girl is an angel.
Lynn:
If it was time for introductions, I decided to take the floor.
Lynn: Ohayō! I am also Japanese, as well as Akane's friend. I am 17 years old and my name is Woo Ose Lynn. Nice to meet you, finally formally, we almost all know each other.
Chenny:
Lynn just introduced herself, she was right. We almost all knew each other, collecting all the new Trainees entering our group of girls. I'm the oldest here, I've seen so many girls come and go, it feels weird to still be here.
Chenny: Hello, you all know me normally, I'm the oldest and I saw you all come to SM, I'm Taiwanese, I'm 18, Huang Chenny.
Yerin: I'm old too Chenny-ha !!
I look in the direction of Yerin, she also arrived when I entered SM and is still there of course. Mainly to annoy me with his baby voice.
Yerin:
I intervened during Chenny's presentation, I saw too all these girls arriving, I am too old. We've been a Trainee together since the beginning and she doesn't give any recognition, me always buying her banana milk cartons, her favorite.
Yerin: Chenny-ha, please don't forget me.
Chenny: Hmm...
Yerin: Your oldest Trainee friend, though. In short, I'm Yerin, the girls, the one who brings the drinks most often, 18 years old like Chenny, Korean and a superb unnie, we're all going to have fun together.
Jin Sol: Unnie, you're funny.
Yerin: I know!
Gabi:
I think it's time for me to introduce myself too.
Gabi: Hello, I'm Kim Gabi, I'm 16 years old and I'm Korean, I can't wait to get to know you all better.
Jin Sol: We're going to start Gabi! You see, you shouldn't be desperate and cry.
Gabi: Soli, don't expose me like that!
And all the girls are laughing, the atmosphere was more relaxed than before.
AyMio:
The atmosphere between the girls began to soften, was reassuring, me who was afraid to speak.
AyMio: Hello, I'm Aymio, Japanese, I'm 17 years old. I've been a Trainee for 2 years, you can call me Mio, if you want, it's easier.
Yerin: Aren't you the one who always dances with a mask?
Mio: Uh…yes, it's a habit.
Yerin: I've seen you dance so many times to so many different styles, you're so talented.
Mio: Ah, thank you, that's very kind.
Ara:
I was so happy, I dreamed of debuting in a group for a long time, and I was selected in this group, with THESE girls. They look great, I'm already with Heni and Iji, my best friends, plus there's the girl I've admired from afar for a long time, Huang Chenny, she's too beautiful, accompanied by her friend Yerin who is great kind and benevolent. Not to mention the mask dancer, Mio, a real pro. I love them all already.
Ara: Hello! I'm Lee Seo Ara, I'm also 14, which makes me the second youngest, I admire you all, you are so beautiful and talented, I'm so happy to be with you!!
Yerin: You're super cute, a real angel.
Ara: Thank you, Unnie!
Iji: Oh Ara. You look very excited.
Ara: Are you kidding me, the three of us, the Moonz, are still together.
Heni:
Ara looked very happy that the three of us were together, she mentions our trio name.
Jin Sol: The Moonz? What is that ?
Iji: A nickname we gave to our trio, because we are two lunars, me and Heni, and an eclipse, Ara. It's a bit silly.
Ara: Not even, it's cute, and unique! Right, Heni?!
Heni: Yes, I like it. By the way, I'm Da Heni, I'm 15, I'm shy but I'm happy to be with you, really, finally…uh, yes.
Yerin: Lovely, you girls are lovely.
Gabi: We are 10, so I am also one of the youngest.
Lynn: How is the age order?
Chenny: I'm the oldest, June 9, 2003.
Yerin: I'm next: September 26, 2003.
Lynn: I was born on March 5, 2004, are others my age?
Mio & Jin Sol: Me.
They looked at each other at the same time, and burst out laughing.
Jin Sol: I was born on December 28, 2004.
Mio: I'm older than you then, May 23, 2004.
Gabi: I'm a 2005, born in November.
Akane: Am I younger than you? It's crazy, December 06, 2005.
Heni: So I'm the only 2006 here.
Iji: Me and Ara are both from 2007, but I'm the youngest of them all.
Ara: Yes, that's true.
Iji:
Introductions have been made and we get to know each other in a joyful and calm atmosphere. I like it, it's really very reassuring. I think we all got scared a few moments ago. But, this atmosphere that we have developed is the most reassuring in the world in my opinion.
Iji: I want to create a handshake.
Yerin: Why?
Gabi: Isn't it a bit early? After all…
Iji: I don't know, I'm happy to create something from the beginning with you.
The girls all look at me, afterwards to smile and approve.
Jin Sol: Come on, let's get up, it's more convenient.
Everyone stands up and we come together in a circle.
Ara: Doing something original!
Mio: We don't have a name yet, you know.
Iji: It's not a problem.
Akane: It's fine if it's original.
Gabi: A fun thing to do too.
Chenny: Let's use both hands, that's different than usual, right?
Jin Sol: Come on, let's do something like a hand game.
Lynn: Oh yeah!! As for children!
Iji: How about we all clap our hands twice, in both directions: top to bottom. Then we clap our hands.
Ara: Then we join them together, in front.
Mio: That's right!
Ara: Yeah!
Yerin: We end up lifting them together?
Chenny: Boring.
Yerin: Like you.
Akane: Shall we just lift them in style?
Gabi: Like a dance move! We get them up and turn around, then we go our separate ways.
Heni: We can try to see.
Iji: Ok, three, 1, 2,…
Jin Sol: 3!!!
They performed their handshake together.
Lynn: It's good but something is missing.
Gabi: Do we have to say something?
Iji: Why not: dont'you know !!! we !!
Iji: Where does that come from ?
Iji : My boundless creativity.
Yerin: Ok, let's try again?
TOGETHER: dont'you know !!! we !!
Gabi: Yes! It's much better !
Lynn: We keep it!!

BP More F'ing Eliminations
So lets pause and I'mma do MY picks.
Okay so I get 9 choices yes? 1. JAY CHANG (23, 5'9")/P/P/P/P/P - obvi. He's the whole reason I'm watching this show. But bias aside, STELLAR voice and decent dancing. He's quirky and speaks English. Sold. 2. PARK GUN WOOK (19, 6'0")/P/P/P/P/P - I have officially decided that YES. he IS handsome. But aside from that he's talented. obvi. He fits in fantastic with an idol concept.
3. WANG ZI HAO (23, 5'10)/F/P/F/P/P - he's quiet. he's pretty. he dances well. SOLD.
4. PARK HAN BIN (22, 5'9")/F/P/P/P/P - I said he's got charisma and he's got a flair for the dramatics. (kinda darker skin guy)
5. LEE SEUNG HWAN (24, 5'10")/P/P/P/P/P - this kid got all passes from me. But I have no idea who he is? My comments are that he has a real nice voice and has done some modern dance in the past? (Even looking at a picture of him. I still have no idea)
6. YOON JONG WOO (24, 5'9")/F/P/P/P/P - obvi he'd be the daddy leader of the group.
7. KEITA (23, 5'5")/F/F/P/P/F - he's fun. and "was fine at rapping"
8. KUM JUN HYEON (22, 5'11")/F/P/P/F/P - his goofy side won me over. I do love my variety shows.
10. KIM JI WOONG (25, 5'10)/P/P/P/P/F - BL actor. Donghyun type. Idk if he's right for an idol group though? I think maybe stay as an actor. idkkkk.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------ CLOSE CALLS:
10. HARUTO (19, 5'7")/F/P/P/P/P - do I think he's the best rapper? no. Do I think he's the best this show has to offer? yes.
11. LEE YE DAM (21, 5'5")/F/P/P/P - short baby! he had stage presence.
12. HUI (31, 5'7")/P/P/P/P/P - I don't want him in this group. I want him solo. he deserves it.
13. OH SUNG MIN (23, 5'11")/P/F/P/F - as much as I love him, naurrrrr. I want more than smiley sunshine sprinkles
14. ZHANG HAO (24, 5'11")/F/P/P/P/P - idk I'm not super sold on him, but I've passed him every time! He just didn't get there for me!
15. PARK HYUN BEEN (19, 5'10")/F/P/F/P - the one from the hidden cam
16. RICKY (20, 6'0")/F/F/F/F/P - I mean he IS interesting to look at
17. SEOK MATTHEW (22 5'7")/P/P/P/P/F - I just dont vibe with him. But my comment was he's good at vocals. and he brought a pic of his family to the 90 sec thing.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Okay onto Ep 11 shiz
Why are they making them take a break?
So they're cutting to 18? isn't that still too many? from 24? so only SIX go home?? Oh 28. So 10. fiiiine. Wish it was down to 16 though.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I hate the fucking elephant game so much. It's not even real. Just let these boys eat in their weird little onesies.
the racoon game was kinda fun though.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
see, YOO SEUNG EON (20, 5'10")/F/P/F/F/P says "survival is all about survival" but honestly, this is a korean show. none of them will do anyone dirty. Like they smile and clap for the other person IMMEDIATELY after being voted off themselves.
And wont #1 and #2 just take the fucking killing parts? thats dumb. this is dumb. ... oh wait. I didn't listen.
That dumb bitch took Jay out of the main vocal role? You just fucking ruined the song ass wipe. Hui is the only one happy with this situation. Even the other team members think it was dumb as fuck. jinxed the team to be a selfish asshole.
I'm mad. Jay could have scored higher than 10th if ass face hadn't done that. But then he'd be in a no-name team of 9.... Instead of on a world tour with BDU right? "it's not over 'til it's over"
why the fuck are they wasting time picking a killing part if its fucking temporary? come ON daddy leader! oh the other group did too? Did MNet make them?
------------------------------------------------------------------------------ That trainer is 100% me. bitch can fight me for steaking Jays spot.
Bitch said he learned alot in the last FIVE MONTHS? excuse me??
So the Star kids choose the killing part. I really wish on these shows it'd be like 60% star kids and 40% actual common fucking sense producers. Cause they're just gonna choose someone dumb.
SEE? between SEOK MATTHEW (22 5'7")/P/P/P/P/F and ZHANG HAO (24, 5'11")/F/P/P/P/P. dumb. I was team PARK HAN BIN (22, 5'9")/F/P/P/P/P.

Alright. SPOILERS. It might take me a couple posts over today and tomorrow to process EAW ep. 14. I’ll try to keep things organized. My Big Thoughts on Young-woo are at the bottom. Long post warning.
1) I’m going to sound a far different bell than the reviews I’m seeing on the tag. I think the writing of ep. 14 was absolutely FANTASTIC. I am giddy over how good this writing was and I can’t wait to re-watch this episode.
I think ep. 13 needed to set up a lot of conflict very quickly to get to the important penultimate episode next week, which we know can be huge. Today’s (Thursday’s) episode, for me, ironed out a lot of the sudden conflict we saw, including contextualizing Attorney Jung’s illness. When he says that South Korea has the best treatment for stomach cancer (a relatively common ailment in those parts of Asia that we don’t see as much in the US), I believe it, and I think the writers intentionally put those lines in there to give viewers who know that background a touch of relief (but we’re still worried about him).
2) Content-wise, obviously, things are not going as linearly as us viewers would have liked or expected. But y’all -- I believe the writers know this and are doing this to us. Look at what Su-yeon said to Min-woo: “I almost reported you to the police for the crime of not staying in character.” The writers know what they’re doing!
Another way I think the writers are injecting lightness here -- when Jun-ho said he wouldn’t drink, and then he got plastered. I think it was set up to be cute. I’m not reading a forever devastation and finality to the break-up, partially based on the existence of that scene. More on this below.
(Also, side note, now we know that Min-woo knows. And, whoa, seemed to actually be supportive of his homeboy in the relationship -- Min-woo hadn’t tried to get them to break up, I guess?)
3) I believe the writers are setting up a moral dilemma conflict for Min-woo that I might be here for. NOT a hard bet, because I think he’s still scheming, but I wonder.
I also think that Su-yeon is fixing to be a freaking superhero vis à vis that dilemma. I’m getting that from the preview for ep. 15, where we see Su-yeon protecting Young-woo from reporters.
4) I’m seeing fam on the tag calling out CEO Han for being evil and scheme-y, but we already knew she was, and Young-woo’s dad knows this, too. Her scheme is not a surprise to me. Her hiring of Young-woo was going to lead to something like this. I just want to know their background in law school. Maybe CEO Han has a hereditary competition with Tae Su-mi. I want to know that juicy juicy drama.
(I wrote this before, but this is why I think CEO Han eats Min-woo over this somehow. At least I hope so.)
(Frankly, and I know this is bad of me because it puts Young-woo in the middle of all of this shit, but I hope CEO Han blinks out Tae Su-mi. I think Tae Su-mi is pure evil.)
5) I think the big themes of this episode were: compassion, empathy, creativity, and revelation. Here’s why.
I believe the stories of Attorney Jung and Young-woo are linked. He’s the elder -- a senior partner who ignored his personal life, who ignored the people who loved him personally, to live and breathe the law. As his ex-wife notes, he’s more alive when talking to an attorney than when talking to her.
Wasn’t Young-woo the same as she was breaking up with Jun-ho? She was more energized about her law revelation than about communicating the reasons for the break-up. She kept that part to herself. And Jun-ho, bless him, was asking for that reasoning, continuing to demand to Young-woo that she work on empathizing with him.
We know that communicatively, there is a lot that Young-woo and Jun-ho need to say to each other. But this IS a drama, and the writers need to stave off that content to wrap up the series next week.
However, I REALLY think we saw a lot of compassionate growth in Young-woo this episode. We saw her ignore Attorney Jung’s insistence to not fuss over him. We saw her absorbing the words of the song about the burden of love at the noraebang. We see her looking at Jun-ho on the plane.
I think the way the writers are building Young-woo’s self-awareness and self-growth is absolutely gorgeous. In many instances, it’s wordless. Because -- we see her, as she’s growing into her adulthood, learning the words to use in these moments.
Autistic or not, aren’t we all doing that, growing as adults, learning about our emotions and ourselves? What’s the difference here, between her and Attorney Jung? Not a lot, in this moment.
6) Jun-ho and ex-wife Ji-su, the two lonely left-behind lovers. Ji-su says she left Attorney Jung because of her loneliness. We see Jun-ho in his loneliness on the beach, left behind because Young-woo will not take him to where she thinks she’s going -- to always need to be cared for in her life, leaving her lover lonely.
First, we know she doesn’t need to be as cared for as she thinks, because we know she’s a breadwinning baddie. (She’s confident enough to take care of herself as the rest of the team eats the meat noodles with her take-away gimbap. She’s like -- I got me.)
Second, I don’t believe the break-up is final because of the pep talk Attorney Jung gives to Jun-ho. I think there’s a communication ultimatum between these two lovebirds, and Young-woo will need to decide to step up and believe she’s worthy of love, AND that she’s more independent than general society makes her think she is.
7) This is where I think creativity comes in. After that pep talk, I think Jun-ho is fixing to fight for love. God help us, I think this is finally when some communication will take place.
Also, separately, creativity and empathy: I agree with Young-woo that we saw Attorney Jung at his absolute best when speaking to the Abbot at the end of the episode. Speaking to an opposing client is definitely skirting the edges of legal ethics. But he suggests that the temple work with Hanbada’s government affairs team, which is not technically a legal team. Genius. He wants to proactively help in the best way HE can.
Did you see how proud of the team he was when his rookie attorneys were pitching the noodle restaurant owner? He’s realized he’s passed on his wisdom, creativity, and empathy. A huge law firm pitching a restaurant owner in Jeju. Even Min-woo getting into it. I love how the love for Attorney Jung is deeply spread out here.
8) One more point on empathy and compassion.
Did you notice, when ex-wife Ji-su was speaking to Young-woo, what was behind Ji-su?
It was a poster about women’s health. I can’t read Korean, but I did notice the small pink graphic of a set of ovaries.
(Nothing like that will ever get past a mama.)
That shot almost certainly was not an accident.
Part of Ji-su’s sadness is likely not having a family with Attorney Jung. Yet she cared enough for him to fly down from Seoul to Jeju. And is concerned enough about his health to want him to have an earlier surgery.
Despite their break-up -- there’s still love and caring.
Despite Young-woo’s and Jun-ho’s break-up -- there’s still love and caring.
And, I think by including that poster in that shot, it gives us something to chew on. Young-woo, right now, is thinking she’s not deserving of love because she’ll leave her lover lonely in his caretaking of her.
But I think -- in the most subtle, gorgeous way possible -- the writers have left us asking: can Young-woo deserve love and family of her own?
We all know that answer.

Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 Part 5 Part 6 Part 7 Part 8 Part 9 Part 10 Part 11 Part 12 Part 13 The end
Ola yanked your corset hard making you whimper. “Sorry, my lady, but my lord asked for you to be dressed in your best.”
You panted a little. “I know, but my corset is really tight.”
“You have to have a good figure. Your father hopes this one goes well because it’s so important.”
You winced when you felt your ribs on the cusp of snapping. “Okay.”
She grabbed your dress and helped you into it. “There, you look like a delicate flower.”
You sat down and groaned. “Thank you?”
She put your hair up nicely before doing your makeup. “This guy is wonderful. I know you have been sabotaging the other dates, but you should give this man a go. He is stunning and from another land. He’s a dream.”
You let out a long sigh. “Sure.”
She stepped back and smiled. “There, close enough to beautiful.”
You pouted a little. “You have such an attitude sometimes.”
“I like to keep you on your toes.”
You walked with Ola through your home and down to the back garden to see the tea area was set up under a canopy. You let out a long sigh and prepared yourself to reject your next potential husband. You heard a nice deep laugh from a man. You stopped in your path and Ola hurried over to your parents and announced your presence.
Your heart throbbed in your chest as you saw a man rise to her feet. You watched a man wearing long light lavender robes move closer to you. You blushed as an elegant tall man walked closer to you. Part of his black hair was tied up in a little bun with a silver clasp on it, the rest was long and stopped just above his bum. He was wrapped up in his perfect robes with sashes added to keep them together.
He stopped in front of you and bowed as he said your first name. “I am honoured to finally meet you.”
You jumped a little before bowing to him. “Uh, nice to meet you.”
He hummed a laugh. “Wonderful bow, great form and you bowed so low. I am honoured you think so highly of me.”
You looked up at him before standing. “I uh…”
He placed his hand on his heart. “Prince Ji-Woo Min. You may call me Ji-Woo.”
You fiddled with your dress. “Is that not rude? I mean, I was told in your country I am supposed to address you by your title and last name.”
“I want you to call me by my name.”
You gulped hard. “All right, Ji-Woo.”
He offered his hand. “Join me for tea. I have brought some wonderful things from my country.”
You took his hand and walked with him to the sitting area to see your very happy parents waiting, a table covered with food you’d never seen before and two servers. You blushed as he pulled your chair out for you and let you sit. You fiddled with your dress as the Prince poured you a cup of tea for you both. You felt nervous because you didn’t want to offend the Prince in any way. You saw your parents seemed so happy.
Ji-Woo handed you the cup with no handle. “Go ahead.”
You held the cup and blew on the hot tea. “Green tea.”
He nodded. “That’s right.”
You sipped it under his keen gaze. “Mm, it’s lovely.”
He offered you a plate of cookies. “Try a Yakgwa. It’s a honey cookie.”
You picked up one and took a bite. “Mm, I like it.”
“I am glad.” He reached over and tucked a loose strand of your hair back. “Your hair is so soft.”
Ola bowed deeply. “Forgive me, your Prince Min for missing that part of her hair.”
Harold hushed Ola. “Don’t speak to him unless he asks.”
Ji-Woo ignored Ola and noticed your chest was heaving more than what should be normal. “Are you all right?”
You smiled at him. “Mhmm. I’m good.”
Harold grinned and called your name. “I met the Prince here when I went to his country for trading. We have a contract with him, one that you made up for me.”
Ji-Woon chuckled. “You are a very smart woman.”
You blushed a little. “Thank you.” You winced a little and rubbed your stomach. “I hope you do not mind, but I need to go for a walk.”
Ji-Woo stood up and offered his hand. “Allow me to escort you.”
You took his hand and marvelled at how soft his skin was. You walked with him away from your parents and noticed a big umbrella held above you both by one of his attendants. “Do your attendants always hide you from the sun?”
“Yes. I enjoy being pale.”
You hummed. “You do have very lovely clean and soft skin.”
“Thank you. Plenty of soaks in milk and honey baths.”
You smiled softly at him. “I’ll take note.”
He paused and touched your cheek. “You don’t need any special baths. You really are a vision.”
You turned your head from his touch. “Why would a Prince like you be interested in a woman like me? I’m just a daughter of a sugar trader.”
“You are still a woman of status if you were in my country.”
You nibbled your lip. “I suppose.” You gazed at him. “I am sorry I don’t have much confidence. I mean, my father has been setting me up with many terrible people, so excuse my hesitation.”
He chuckled. “Don’t be sorry. My father is the Emperor of my country and he has been trying to set me up with many ladies, but you are the first I’ve actively gone for on my own.”
You smiled at him. “I’m not as great as my father may have said I am.”
“You’re better.” He frowned a little. “I was meant to get a painting of you, but it seems someone has bought your painting.”
You laughed a little. “I can’t imagine who bought my painting.”
“A lucky person.” He walked up to you and cupped your face making you look up at him. “I can get a painting commissioned again. Your beauty should be captured.”
You placed your hands on his and removed his hands from your face. “Thank you, but I don’t need it.”
He hummed a laugh. “Very well.” He placed his hand on the middle of your back. “Let us sit together.”
You watched as his assistants rushed around to put a sitting area on the floor. “Oh, how nice.”
Ji-Woo sat down on the cushions and pulled you close. “Sit with me.”
You worried a bit about your corset, but you didn’t want to be rude. You carefully sat down and kept your back straight. “Thank you.” You looked up as the wind rushed through the trees. “It’s nice here.”
“Indeed. I will take you to my country and show you the wonderful nature there.”
You hummed. “I can imagine it.” You blushed when you felt soft warm lips against your cheek. You turned your head and blushed as Ji-Woo pulled back. You looked at his slightly pink lips from a special lip colour. “Did you just kiss my cheek?”
“I did.”
You touched your cheek a little. “Oh, well thank you.”
Ji-Woo moved closer to you making you flinch and move back from him. “Don’t run. I won’t hurt you.”
You yelp and fell back on the floor as your ribs hurt. “Ow.”
Ji-Woo’s eyes widened as he said your name. “What’s wrong!? What happened?”
You cried at the pain in your ribs. You didn’t think you broke anything, but it hurt like hell and the more you cried the more it hurt. You were in so much pain that you couldn’t speak to Ji-Woo to tell him what was wrong. You rolled onto your side and looked to the side of your garden to see Levi running over.
Levi jumped over the small fence and sprinted over to you. He shouted your name before dropping to his knees. “I’ve got you. I’ve got you.” He studied you and noticed your breathing was off and you were patting your waist. “Her corset. Her corset is on too tight.”
Ji-Woo blushed. “We can’t touch it. It would not be proper of us to do so!”
Levi rolled you over in his arms and opened up the back of your dress. “I’ll do it.” He looked at the tight knots. “Knife! Have you got a knife?”
Ji-Woo nodded and pulled a knife off his belt. “Here.”
Levi yanked it from him and sliced the ribbon tying your corset together. He tossed the knife and yanked your corset open and smiled when he heard you gasp in relief. He eyed your back to see red marks all over it. He rubbed one spot making you hum in delight. He rolled you over in his arms and held you as you lay there panting.
You opened your eyes and smiled. “Thank you.”
Levi rubbed your cheek. “I’m glad I got to you in time.”
Ji-Woo gazed at you. “What would have happened?”
Levi smiled at you. “Broken ribs and they could have shattered and pierced her organs.”
“Such horrible things. Why was it so tight?”
Levi glared at Ji-Woo. “It was done to impress you. Ola her maid was probably ordered by the Lord to make her look as appealing as possible to you.”
Ji-Woo’s eyes widened. “That’s not who I am.”
Levi didn’t like Ji-Woo because there wasn’t really much wrong with him. Levi had researched as much as possible, but he couldn’t find a single thing and it pissed him off. “She needs new clothes.”
Ji-Woo turned to his assistants. “Dress my date in our traditional clothes.”
The female assistant offered her hand to you. “This way, my lady.”
You held your dress against you and walked behind a little screen the other held up. “Thank you.”
She bowed and bound your breasts before wrapping you up in a dress. “Is this okay, my lady?”
You nodded. “Yes, thank you.”
She let your hair down. “You and the Prince are perfect for each other.”
You smiled as you thought of Levi. “Yeah, we are.”
“I’m glad you think so. You’ll make a fine Empress.”
You frowned. “Empress?”
She nodded. “Yes to my Prince.”
You hummed and thought about Ji-Woo. It was true Levi had never offered to marry you that you knew of, and Ji-Woo seemed so kind to you. You smiled a little and bowed your head. “Thank you.” You walked over to Ji-Woo and Levi. “These are nice.”
Ji-Woo blushed. “You…you wear my people’s clothes so well.” He smiled at you. “You are so beautiful.”
Levi gazed at you with wide eyes. He thought you were stunning, but he also hated it because it made you look more like you belonged to Ji-Woo. “You…hm…” He looked away as he felt a dark voice screaming in his head about you and him. “Perfect…”
You walked closer to Levi. “Are you okay?”
He nodded sadly. “Mm.”
You held Levi’s hands. “I have an idea.” You turned to Ji-Woo. “My friend is upset. Do you mind if I go with him to help him?”
Ji-Woo walked closer to you and kissed your cheek. “Friends are important. I will take you on another date soon.”
You smiled at him. “Thank you.” You put your arm around Levi and walked with him towards the woods. “Talk to me.”
Levi gulped hard. “It’s just…you wear those clothes so well.”
You let out a long sigh and held his hand. “When I was little, I wanted to be this brave hero so badly. I saw all the boys acting this way and I wanted to as well. It wasn’t fair I had to be this proper cute thing.” You stopped under a tree and ripped your dress so your legs were free. “I used to rip my dresses a lot so I can do things like this.”
Levi watched you climb the large oak. “Careful.”
You looked down at him. “I used to climb things all the time. One day, I fell from such a height that it terrified my parents.” You stopped and sat in the tree and sighed. “They thought something like that would scare me, but it didn’t. When I got better I climbed a tree again, a bigger one than the one I fell out of.”
Levi sat next to you. “So, you’re a stubborn brat.”
You hummed a laugh. “I am and for a small moment, my father saw me for what I was. A person with a passion and a fire to push the boundaries. Unfortunately, it didn’t last. He changed his mind after some time and he’s gotten worse.”
“I’m sorry.”
You stared out at the land. “I know people have it harder and I shouldn’t complain. I just thought I’d share my worries with you so you don’t feel so alone.”
Levi hummed in response. “May I ask you something?”
You nodded. “Anything.”
“Will you be going on another date with him?”
You laughed a little. “Like I have a choice.”
He gripped the branch. “You always have a choice.”
You welled up. “He’s the only one I have left!” You looked at Levi as you cried causing his heart to break. “All the men put forward to marry me have all runaway or disappeared.” You shook your head. “Honestly, I don’t blame them. I’m nothing special, so it makes sense they didn’t want me. Ji-Woo is the last one. So, it’s not like I’ve got any options.”
Levi softly said your name as he felt a heavy weight of guilt. “I…”
You heard Ola call for you. “My father wants me by the sounds of it.” You smiled at Levi. “Sorry for making the mood bad and taking the moment from you.”
Levi shook his head. “Don’t be sorry, okay?”
You leaned over and kissed his cheek. You smiled sadly at him before mumbling under your breath hoping Levi wouldn’t hear you, but he did. “If only you offered marriage.”
Levi’s heart jumped in his chest. “Ah…” He watched you hurry off to Ola. “Shit…shit, shit, shit, shit…”
You walked with Ji-Woo and smiled at him as you looped your arm over his. You looked up at the umbrella and heard Ji-Woo’s chuckle. You blushed a little and looked away from him. “I’m not used to it, okay?”
“It’s adorable.” He stopped and took you in. “You look enchanting in this dress I gifted you.”
You fiddled with the traditional dress. “Thank you.”
He lightly caressed your cheek. “Truly you are a divine goddess.”
“You’re too kind.”
He hummed a laugh and held your chin. He lifted your head a little and leaned closer. He paused a moment and stopped himself from kissing you. “Forgive me. I was about to force a kiss on you.” He kissed your forehead. “I want you to care for me. I want this to be good and romantic.”
You giggled. “You’re a sweet man, you really are, but I truly think you deserve better.”
“Says who?” He put his arm around you. “Come, let me show you the ship I arrived on. I bet it is like nothing you’ve seen before.”
You smiled softly. “I’m excited to see.”
He led you to the pier full of Levi’s impressive ships and there to the side of them was another massive ship with grand decorations. “What do you think?”
“Oh, wow. This is magical.”
He smiled and walked up the platform and pulled you along. “I want to show you around. Come.”
You blushed as the sailors gazed at you in awe. You blushed a little and stopped walking. “Ji-Woo, I don’t know about this.”
“Don’t pay them any attention. You are higher than them. Plus, they have never seen me with a beautiful woman before.”
You released a long sigh. “Are you sure?”
He nodded and pulled you along. “Come.”
You looked over at some sailors speaking in a different language you smile at them and saw them blush hard and bow to you. “Why are they bowing?”
Ji-Woo chuckled. “They believe you will be their next Empress.”
You walked with him inside the ship. “Ah, but I haven’t accepted your proposal.”
He stopped by the slide doors. “I know, but they don’t know that.” He moved open the slide doors to reveal a royal futon on the floor with drapes, along with a table on the floor and a sitting area. “Let’s sit for a moment.”
You nodded and walked with him expecting him to lead you to the sitting area, but instead, he took you to the bed. You sat down and felt a little stiff. “This is lovely.”
Ji-Woo undid his outer robe slowly. “Thank you, but our palace is finer.”
“Our palace?”
He nodded as he removed all but his lower robe. “Yes.” He sat on the bed next to you. “What is mine will be yours, but you won’t have equal power. I will lead the country and I just ask for you to look pretty and provide me with an heir.”
You locked eyes with him. “But I want to help. I don’t want to sit around all day. I want to work.”
He reached over and pulled on a tie on your robes. “You don’t need to. I will support you.”
You stopped his hand and held it. “I’m sorry, I need to think.”
He pulled back. “But.”
You rose to your feet. “This is a big commitment. You are asking for me to give up part of my personality and passions. I don’t want to be some doll that only makes babies. I do want babies, but I also want to help with policies and changes. I want to feel equal with my husband, not below him.”
He stood up. “You won’t be below me. You will be above me. You’ll be a goddess among men. People around my country will worship you.”
“I don’t…” You turned to him. “I need to think. I’m sorry.”
He released a long sigh. “Very well.” He took your hand and kissed the back of it. “I await your return.”
You smiled and then frowned when something hit your thoughts. “Wait…we’re you trying to have sex with me?”
He blushed. “My apologies. I let my dark desires get the best of me. You should go.”
You stared at him. “You…I thought…so, you just wanted my body.”
He shook his head. “No! No, that is not…I am sorry. I am truly sorry. I believe we should have a restart.”
You held back tears. “I need to go.”
“Do what you need to. I support you.”
You hurried out of his room and off the ship with your outer robe pillowing open. You rubbed your tears away and hiccuped as you felt confused and broken. You didn’t know what to do with yourself. You jumped when Levi appeared next to you saying your name and looking angry. You rubbed your tears. “I’m not in the mood for teasing, Levi.”
He growled. “I need a word.”
You came to a sudden stop when Levi stood in front of you. “Leave me alone.”
“Never.”
You turned and hurried into the woods along a path you’d used often. “I have told you, I am not in the mood!”
He noticed your dress was open and felt enraged. He ran after you and grabbed your wrist. “Hey!”
You struggled in his grip. “Stop it.”
He released your wrist. “Would you just let me speak!?”
You stopped and panted. “What? What do you want? I’ve had enough demanded of me, so why not add more to it.”
He stared at you. “Your outer dress is open. Did you have fun with your Prince from another land?”
You scoffed. “What is your problem?”
“You’ve been running around with him and acting all happy and silly.” He walked closer. “You enjoy playing house with him? Did you enjoy him touching you? Did you enjoy him fucking you?”
You slapped Levi across the face and cried. “I expected this from others, but not from you.”
Levi touched his cheek before glaring at you. “What. Did. He. Do.”
You shook a little. “Why do you care? You just play with my emotions. You don’t care about me. I’m just a fun toy for you.”
Levi stormed towards you but you backed up. “Answer me! What did he do!?”
You bumped into a tree. You squeezed your eyes tightly and broke. “He tried to fuck me!” You shook and started crying. “I thought he was different, but he’s just like everyone else.” You put your head in your hands and cried. You explained what Ji-Woo told you as Levi quietly listened. You poured your heart out to Levi as you sobbed. You told him your desire to marry someone who will treat you as an equal when it comes to working. “I’m tired, Levi. I’m so tired of it all.”
Levi pulled you into his arms. “I’m sorry.”
You clung to him and sniffed. “I don’t get it. Why are you so nice to me?” You pulled back from him. “I don’t get it. You’re so nice. You tease me. You play with me. Am I just a toy to you?”
He shook his head. “No, you’re not a toy.”
You rubbed your tears. “Then what am I? If am not then why haven’t you offered marriage? If you don’t want me, please stop.” You looked at him with pleading eyes. “Please stop. I can’t take empty flirting anymore.”
Levi stared at you and felt like it was now or never. He wrapped his leather-gloved hand around your neck and pressed you against the tree making you whimper. He eyed your lips and crashed his own against yours before you could say anything to him. He pulled back a little to test you.
You grabbed Levi’s blazer and tugged his body against your own. You pressed your lips against Levi’s and moaned. You tilted your head to the side and flinched a little when Levi nipped your lip. You mewled at Levi when his tongue pressed into your mouth. You shivered in pleasure as he pressed his body fully against your own and took control.
Levi was in pure pleasure-filled bliss as his tongue moved with yours. He had followed you, watched you, and protected you from bad dates for months and months. He couldn’t believe his dream was coming true. He was finally kissing the woman who had command over his heart and soul. He finally had you. He knew he had to confess the truth to you about everything, but he’d do that in time.
He pulled back from your lips and enjoyed your gasp and pants as air rushed into your lungs. He leaned closer and lightly kissed your lips. “I suppose I should explain myself.”
You nodded. “You should or I will slap you again.”
He sighed as his hand released your neck and ran down a little to your chest. He hummed as he tried to organise his thoughts. “I have asked for your hand in marriage.”
You blushed hard. “You have?”
He nodded. “I asked your father the same day I brought you home from my palace. I knew I wanted to spend my life with you at the ball and after.” He smiled a little. “Something hit me.”
You snorted a laugh. “I hit you.”
“Mmm, that was it.”
You giggled a little. “Wait, so you asked?”
Levi moved his hand up and rubbed your cheeks. “I asked your father and he banned me from seeing you, which is why I keep sneaking around. It is also why I’ve been working my ass off.”
Your eyes widened. “Wait, so you working hard for over two months and not seeing me was to impress my father?”
He nodded. “I know I could probably just grab you and marry you, but I want your father’s approval because he’s pushing marriage so much.” He held your hips. “You mean so much to me. In the months we’ve been around each other…” He smiled a little. “It’ll be a year in two months.” He locked eyes with you. “Well, in that time I have fallen so madly in love with you.”
You gazed at Levi and welled up. “Me too.” You cupped Levi’s face. “I’m in love with you. I’ve been dying for you to offer a marriage proposal because I want to be with you, but I never knew all this was going on.”
He smiled softly at you. “If you only knew the things that have been going on.”
You gazed at Levi, your eyes searching his as a cold wind drifted past you both. You smiled at Levi before jumping into his arms and holding him tightly. “I’m so happy.”
Levi squeezed you tightly and smiled. “I am too. I have you. I finally have you.” He released a long sigh. “I should get you home. You need to rest after what you’ve been through.”
You slipped out of Levi’s arms. “I am rather tired.”
“You need plenty of rest.”
You rubbed your eyes. “Yes.”
He held your hand and walked with you through the woods to your home. “I’ll free you, I promise.”
You stopped below your window and gazed at Levi. “I know. I believe we’ll be together.” You held Levi’s hands. “I mean, you can always kidnap me again.”
Levi stared at you. “That is very tempting.”
You hummed a laugh and kissed him. “It’s just an idea, my love.”
“My little kitten could be all mine.”
You giggled. “You’re cute.” You kissed him and moaned against his lips. “I would love to run off with you, but I should get some sleep.”
He nodded. “Yeah…” He watched you climb up into your room before leaning out and blowing him a kiss. Levi blew you a kiss back and watched you go. “Fuck…I miss her.”
Levi backed up and returned to the palace. He sat in his study and began working on his papers and thinking of ways to hurt Ji-Woo without starting a war. He let out a long sigh and stared at his file on Ji-Woo. He wanted and needed something, anything to get back at the man who made his precious little kitten cry her eyes out.
He sat back in his seat and grumbled a little. He shot up from his seat and went to a locked room. He slipped inside and stared up at a painting of you. He smiled softly at how beautiful you looked in it, but he preferred the real thing. He left the room and locked it again before returning to his office. He paced the room and stopped by the wall made of bookshelves covered in books.
Levi touched his lips and thought about your lips and tongue. He shivered and moaned at the thought of you. An idea flickered in his head like a flame on a candle. He thought about touching himself, but now you and he had confessed your love to each other he just wanted to go see you as soon as possible. He glanced at the time and saw it was the middle of the night, but he just needed to get to you.
He climbed out of his window and ran through the night in the rain to your home. He clambered his way up the building and fell through your open window making you jump. He stood up and panted as he stared at you sitting in your bed with a book. He gulped hard seeing you were still dressed and you too couldn’t sleep.
You blushed a little and closed your book. “Levi, you’re back.”
He panted as he gazed at you. “You should be asleep.”
“And you should be back at your palace.”
He gulped hard. “Well, I couldn’t stop thinking about you so I came here.”
You smiled softly. “Well, I couldn’t stop thinking about you so I stayed up.” You got off your bed and walked over to Levi. You grabbed his waist and kissed him. “Take me back to the palace, please.”
He nodded before grabbing your hand and running with you towards your window. You climbed onto Levi’s back as he moved down the house and onto the ground below. You dropped off his back and held his hand tightly before running with the crown Prince in the middle of the night while the rain poured down on your both. You both giggled playfully as you made your way to the palace.
You climbed onto Levi’s back and smiled as he made his way up the wall and onto the balcony of his study. You stumbled inside and hummed at the warm air due to the crackling fire. You hugged yourself and looked around as Levi yanked off his wet blazer and boots. “So cosy.”
Levi looked over at you. “You should take off your shoes and outer dress before you catch a cold.”
You nodded and kicked off your shoes. “You’re right.” You reached behind your back and huffed. “I can’t reach the ties on my dress. Could you help?”
Levi’s hands shook as he slowly opened the back of your dress. He shivered when your back and corset became exposed to him. He moved before his mind caught up with him. He pressed a gentle kiss against the crook of your neck as his gloved hands moved under your dress and across your corset. He gripped you and yanked you roughly against him making you moan so deliciously for him as your dress dropped in a heavy wet heap on the floor.
You panted and sighed as Levi sucked and kissed your sensitive skin. You turned your head as he kissed up your neck. You gazed at Levi before turning around and kissing him passionately. You both sighed in contentment as your lips and tongues moved together in pure love for the other. You bit Levi’s lip making him flinch at your action.
Levi licked his lip and purred at you. “Oh, so you want it like that, huh? Well, I can play along, kitten.”
You gasped as he slammed you against the bookshelf making a few books fall from their slots. Levi’s lips crashed against your own in a fiery heated passion that burned in both your souls. You moaned against his lips as his body grinded against yours causing friction of desire for something more heated between the two of you. You clung to your lover’s shirt and held on in sheer desperation that he wouldn’t just disappear any moment.
Levi released your lips and panted heavily, his normally tamed hair a wild mess, his pupils wide. His eyes bore into your heaving chest as an idea burned inside him. He grabbed the edges of your corset and tore the thick fabric open leading to your plump breasts to funnel through the parting of clothing like they were rushing to escape. Levi was in awe of your delicious soft breasts now revealed to him. He was salivating at the mere sight.
His leather-gloved hands gripped onto your sensitive mounds and began to massage. He delighted in your whimpers and moans of pleasure from his loving touch. You tangled your fingers in his wet raven locks and tugged playfully as one of your nipples entered his mouth. He sucked and hummed as his dreams came true. He delighted in your sweet moans, which were far better heard this close than through a bathroom door.
His mouth moved from breast to breast as if he could not possibly get enough of either. He kept sucking and eventually started biting to form love bites all over your soft breasts. Each mark upon your skin was a public declaration from Levi that you were his and only his. He showered your chest in love and affection before his hunger turned to need something much more.
You threw your arms around Levi’s neck and kissed him in desperation. You adored his attention on your boobs, but you needed more attention on your lips. You felt yourself melting into his kisses because his feelings for you burned into your skin and through to your bones. You could feel that this man truly loved you with every soft moan and needy kiss. You needed him. You needed so much more that you felt like you were burning.
His gloved hand dove below your bloomers and sought out its wet and hot prize. He smiled against your lips as his fingers ran slowly over your slit and felt how smoothly they moved, meaning you were positively dripping for him. He moved two fingers up and down your slit and parted your lips. Your delicious juices covered his gloved fingers allowing them to glide smoothly against you.
You moaned in pleasure as two gloved fingers rolled your clit so delicately as if it was a precious jewel to be marvelled at. You shivered your legs open to allow the man you loved to move his fingers against your clit. You whimpered as his fingers moved quicker and set in motion your build-up to a body-shivering orgasm. You felt your whole body tingle and your vagina pulse with a need for something big and thick to be plunged deep within it.
You clung to Levi and cried into the kiss as pleasure rushed through your body at two of Levi’s fingers pushing deep into your pussy. You slapped a hand against Levi’s back and tugged on his shirt as his fingers pumped themselves in and out of you. You wiggled against his hand as his thumb rolled against your clit sending more pleasure through your body.
Levi smiled against your lips when you rocked your hips against his fingers. He moaned in bliss as you started to use his fingers for pleasure. He moved with you and matched your motions causing you to moan higher in pitch into the passionate kisses. He moved his other hand up to caress your body before pinching your right nipple between his finger and thumb. He growled against your lips as your pussy walls clenched his fingers over and over as your body rushed towards your blissful completion.
You moaned against Levi’s lips as your coil snapped inside you. You bucked against Levi’s hand as your orgasm washed over you like a tidal wave of hot water. You tugged and gripped at Levi’s shirt as his hand kept moving to help you ride out your orgasm for as long as possible. You hummed as Levi’s fingers slowed their movements until he finally dragged his finger from you.
You released Levi’s lips and panted. “Fuck.”
Levi licked his fingers clean before your eyes. “Mmmmm, you taste delicious. You are a fine delicacy of a meal.”
Your cheeks heated up. “Th-thank you.” You grabbed his shirt and yanked him close into another deep and loving kiss. You moaned against his lips as you felt his erection in his trousers press against you. “Mm, Levi. Please.” You fumbled with his trousers. “Levi.”
Levi panted against your lips and took over dealing with his trousers as you yanked your bloomers off and tossed them. He yanked his big thick erection out and pumped it in his hand a few times. He lifted you and rammed his cock deep into your pussy making you scream in pleasure and cum hard around his cock as books fell off the bookshelf. He panted as your walls spasmed around his member as your orgasm consumed you. He purred as he felt your delicious juices pour from you and wrap around his cock.
He purred against your lips and spoke in a teasing tone. “Is that how you liked to be fucked?” He thrust once, into you and moaned. “Like this? Hard and rough?”
You whimpered against his lips. “Y-yes.”
He kissed you roughly. “Well then, if that’s what the love of my life wants, that’s what she gets.” He spoke against your lips. “Hold on tight.”
You kissed Levi just before he started roughly pounding his thick cock into you making books fall to the floor. You moaned into the kiss and held onto Levi for dear life as he ravaged you so passionately in his study against his beloved books. His fingers pressed into the plump skin of your thighs as he held you tightly in place. You shivered and shook in place as your body was overcome with many feelings. Levi’s talented tongue moving with yours was soothing, but his rough hip thrusts were mindblowing and set your body aflame.
You whimpered as your body finally fully registered what was pounding in and out of your pussy. You clenched Levi’s cock a little to feel every inch of him. You moaned in delight at how his thickness seemed to stretch you just perfectly. He wasn’t too long or short, but just the perfect length to bury deep within your silken walls and to kiss your cervix. You were in awe of his incredible cock ramming into your dripping pussy. You were overwhelmed with pleasure.
The room was filled with the sounds of the crackling of wood burning in the fireplace and the rough slapping of Levi’s body against your own. Both of your moans were muffled due to your lips and tongues never breaking. Your kisses were never ending as you both felt captivated by the other. You wanted to never break apart. Levi kept roughly bucking hard and fast into you as his obsessive love for you pushed him to ravage you as much as possible.
You squeezed your toes tightly as you felt another wave of euphoria rushing towards you. You shifted just a little in Levi’s arms as your body screamed at the intense pleasure shooting through your veins. You moaned into the kiss as Levi kept you still and continued his actions to push you over the edge into orgasmic bliss. He wanted you to melt under his touch. He wanted you to never need another man again and only seek him out for all kinds of pleasure.
You cried out into the kiss as pleasure hit you so hard it took your breath away. Your legs shook around Levi as you lost control of your body. You pulled from his lips and threw your head back. You panted and moaned in the room as you felt blindsided by your orgasm. You hummed as Levi stopped moving his hips so you could gather your senses again.
You lowered your head and panted. “Fuck.”
Levi kissed you lightly on the lips. “Are you okay?”
You nodded a little. “Y-Yes, just…that was intense, but in an amazing way.”
“I’m glad.” He carried you to his desk. “Want to keep going?”
“Please.”
Levi shoved the things on his desk to the sides and lay you against it. He looked down at you and panted. His eyes dragged down your body to your pussy and where you were both connected. He moved his hips slowly and watched his pussy cum glistening cock drag out of you with your pussy opening clinging to him. He plunged back in slowly and felt your walls drag him back inside as if you wanted to keep him in you.
He grabbed your thighs and parted them before pushing them down a little towards the desk. He bucked hard into you making the table scrape on the wooden floor below it. He panted and began pounding his cock into you again and ignored the groaning of the table below you due to his rough actions. He gazed at your stunning face as your mouth hung open and delicate moans poured from your beautiful mouth. He marvelled at how stunning you were below him as he ravaged you and he gave you pleasure.
Levi gripped your legs tighter as his possessive side wrapped itself around his soul. As he fucked you with love, he was also reminding himself that you were his. He had you. He was the one fucking you against his desk. He was the one that had you moaning oh so deliciously to the room. He was the one that was putting a pleasure-filled smile on your face. He was the one who had his cock buried deep inside your pussy.
He watched your breasts bounce and jiggle between parts of your corset. He wished he’d ripped the whole thing off so he could enjoy all of your wonderful body. He grunted and looked up at your face again and enjoyed the pleasure on your face. He felt his heart racing, but not from the fun athletic activity of fucking, it was you in all your glorious beauty. He adored how you moaned and shivered against his wooden desk as his cock ravaged your pussy.
You gripped Levi’s desk and held on for dear life as it moved backwards and forwards across the floor. You wiggled your legs and felt so wonderfully trapped between your lover’s incredible cock and the hard desk below you. You felt yourself drool in happiness at being fucked so perfectly. Never before had you felt so good in the hands of a sexual partner. Levi was the best you ever had and he was going to be the only one you ever have for the rest of your life, you were sure of that.
You reached up and grabbed Levi’s arms. “Oh, f-fuck! Levi.”
Levi released your legs and grabbed the table edge on either side of your head. He panted as he looked you in the eyes. “I love you.”
You whimpered to Levi. “I love you too.”
Levi slapped his hips against yours adding more erotic sounds to the room. His lips crashed against yours as he took your breath away with passionate kiss after passionate kiss. He pulled back and moaned. “You feel so good. You’re so perfect. You’re my everything. Mine. Mine. Mine!”
You arched your back off the table. “Yes, Levi! I’m yours!” You shivered and wiggled under him. “Mmm, so g-good.”
“Ha, ha, ha, ha, ngh.” He tapped his forehead against yours. “Fuck. Your body is incredible.”
You tangled your fingers in Levi’s hair. “Yours too. You’re perfection. I only want your body for the rest of my life.”
Levi kissed you roughly as he bucked harder and faster against you as your words fuelled him. “Yes! Yes!” He moaned your name. “Mine.”
You clenched your toes. “Mmm, I’m close. Don’t stop!”
Levi kept his actions up and didn’t change anything. He panted and watched your face as he watched a shiver slowly go up your spine. “That’s it, my love, enjoy yourself.”
You moaned out as your orgasm rushed through you. “Ah!” You gasped as pleasure fired through your nerves and shook your body. “Levi!”
Levi grunted as your pussy massaged his cock. “F-Fuck.” He bucked a few times before pressing deep into you. He moaned your name lovingly as he poured his cum into you. “Ah! Mmmm.” He slowed his hips and pumped his hips a few times before stopping. He covered your face in kisses and sighed. “I love you.”
You went limp under his as you felt exhausted. “I…love…you…”
He kissed you sweetly before pulling his cock from you. He tucked himself away before picking you up like a bride. “Forgive me, I went too rough.”
You hugged Levi. “It was perfect. It was just what we both needed.” You smiled at him as he carried you through the halls. “We had so much pent-up passion and love for each other, it just kind of exploded out of us.”
He hummed a laugh. “You’re right.” He took you to the bedroom you had first stayed in and sat you in the bathroom. “Let me clean you up and then get you to bed.”
You yawned. “Okay.” You moaned at the wet warm cloth wiping you up. “Nice. Thank you.”
Levi kissed you and cleaned himself up. He grabbed a medicine out of the bathroom cupboard and put it in two glasses of water. He offered you one. “This is a contraceptive medicine Hange invented. It’ll prevent us from having kids so soon. There are no side effects.”
You downed the water. “Mm, tastes nice. Wait, how come you’re drinking?”
He sighed after downing his. “It works for me too. I want to protect you.”
You blushed. “Thank you.”
He put the glasses away before picking you up and taking you to bed. “The medicine works straight away. So, we can both be loving with each other without the worry of having a baby too soon.”
You smiled at Levi as he helped change you into a nightdress. “Thank you.”
“My pleasure.” He kissed the end of your nose. “Now, I have a very messy study to clean.” He held your hand. “But I won’t go until you get off to sleep.”
You hummed a laugh. “Thank you.”
He lay on his side next to you. “I love you so much.”
“I love you too.”
“Does anything hurt at all?”
You shook your head. “No, I’m perfect.”
“Are you sure?” He shuffled closer. “I want to make sure you’re okay. I love you so much that I just want you to be well. I love you and you’re my everything.”
You giggled. “I’m perfect, just tired, okay? I need sleep.”
He kissed your hand. “My sweet kitten. Mine.”
You slowly fell asleep. “Yours.”
He smiled as he watched you drift off.”

Extraordinary Attorney Woo: Thoughts on episodes 13-14 (spoilers!)
Another bittersweet week with lots to unpack. Spoiler alert!
Let's start with the first hot topic, the redemption arc of everyone's favorite trash boy Kwon Min-woo. I will preface this part of my critique by stating the following:
Redeemable characters are great and can even be some of the best in any story. The best redemption arcs are plotted and hinted at over the course of the show and not sprung upon the audience towards the end.
At the same time, it's ok to have irredeemable characters in any story.
The fact is humans go both ways in that they can be stubborn in some ways yet open to change in others. But within the confines of a story, it all boils down to good storytelling, pacing, and execution.
Considering the format of the show - 16, 60 to 70-minute episodes - this has to be planned from the get-go and not decided in the middle especially because of a potential, and increasingly likely, season 2.
In short, I am iffy about this development.
I don't want to shoot the writers down just because we didn't see signs of Min-woo's potential for kindness in the first half of the show, but I can't be 100% optimistic about his seemingly shrinking devil horns in Su-yeon's presence. We know he's been smitten with her ever since she flipped her hair near the end of ep 9 but I don't think the show is shallow enough for him to change his ways over just that. It's not far-fetched to think he's feigning interest in her because of who her father is.
Instead, I'm counting on his characterization since the beginning of the show. Min-woo's most realistic and most consistent trait is that he's attracted to power. The motivation may not be as clear cut as the familial/financial difficulties he mentioned in ep 13, but whatever it is, he latches on to people with power with the hopes of getting in on some of the action. And if he can't succeed with the first person, he moves onto the next. Most notably, Attorney Jung made it clear that he didn't share his cutthroat ideals, not even his basic understanding of meritocracy. So, he went through the client in ep 5 and eventually, Tae Su-mi once he had what he thought was his golden ticket to Taesan.
But do you really think CEO Tae would let him get away with blackmailing her in her own office? And judging by the preview to ep 15, his threat is practically void once CEO Han beats him to divulging the info to the press.
This, along with his looming romance with Su-yeon, would put him at the crossroads of his character development. Will he blame Young-woo for his failure? Or will he realize what an ass he has been (seeing the consequences of the reveal) and hesitantly extend kindness to his rival?
Now, I don't expect a huge gesture of an olive branch from him, quite the opposite. Realistically, his pride should still stop him from doing a 180 in the next 10 episodes, let alone 2. But I must admit thinking of the set up in this way isn't half bad. Rushed, yes, but not entirely lazy. We'll have to see on Wednesday.
Moving on to the other hot topic of Jun-ho and Young-woo's break-up. In my previous review (here), I mentioned that a slump of sorts usually takes place following the momentous kiss in most dramas. And this takes shape in one or more of the following ways (verbatim from last week):
The writers give the couple something to disagree on / misunderstand because the honeymoon phase only lasts so long on and off screen.
The writers separate the couple because of a third party (family, love triangle, other).
The writers give the couple something to fix that may not have anything to do with their relationship to give the lovey-dovey stuff a break.
The couple gets boring because the relationship is put on the backburner and the writers are flipping a coin whether to set up a wedding or a breakup. (This is the worst.)
Sure enough, the first three have been realized to some degree, but get this, that's not necessarily a bad thing. Through pain comes growth, so they say, and I like to think this applies to our whale couple, too. Jun-ho has come across several practical challenges being a mainstay in Young-woo's life and he has done beautifully so far. But what's a few months compared to the rest of his life?
This roadblock is one of many that he would realistically have to face with her. Heck, any couple would have issues post-honeymoon stage. Even couples with neurotypical partners aren't always as emotionally well-equipped as Jun-ho (and even Young-woo tbh) to fix them.
I have loved how the show presents Young-woo's empathy and her journey in trying to express herself in a manner that won't be misunderstood. It's a process with a lot of trial and error, and uncomfortable for most because it means being vulnerable in a world that tells you not to be. This is what really made me love Young-woo's character. She experiences the world in ways that I would never understand yet she's still so relatable, not to mention brave and inspiring.
It's so easy to say (as people have done) that she should have told Jun-ho right away about his sister's comments, but it's so much more than that. She realized the burden she has placed and would continue to place on him so the last thing she wanted was to add to his troubles. One can continue to criticize by saying how selfish it was to keep him in the dark like that but one moment of heartbreak is small compared to a lifetime of the loneliness that he might feel by staying with her. In other words, Young-woo was perhaps misguided, but definitely selfless in her decision to set him free.
Critics should take a hint from how the case was resolved in the middle of the break-up:
JH: Remember how the Abbot said that what you see isn't everything?
YW: "What you see isn't everything. Don't be blinded by what you can see. Keep in mind the essence of what lies beyond that."
JH: Yes, that's what the Abbot said.
YW: That's right! I was blinded by what I could see that I forgot the essence of what lies beyond that.
The writer so brilliantly hints that they are both capable of doing just that. Therefore, I'm quite optimistic (though not wanting to jinx it) that Jun-ho and Young-woo are endgame. I'm hoping that her father has something to do with them getting back together once he realizes how much Jun-ho genuinely loves and cares for her.
Now a brief word about Jung Myeong-seok. Last week, we saw him freaking out about a potential attack from a previous client, stressing out about Young-woo's interest in social justice clouding her judgment regarding their case, ultimately coughing up blood at the end of ep 12. We learn a lot about his past and what he sacrificed to get to where he is now. But with his life in danger, it's only logical to ask whether it was all worth it. Young-woo says that it is, and I'm compelled to agree because deep down (again beyond what we see), his honest love for the law is what got him to this point, regardless of his diagnosis.
Based on his actions at the end of ep 14, he would probably adapt by slowly changing how he applies this love, helping more institutions like the temple, much like how the Yangtze River Dolphin adapted to freshwater. Again, I'm also optimistic that he will survive in the finale based on Kang Ki-young's well-deserved skyrocketing popularity. Did I mention his acting was chef's kiss this week? (gif not mine)
At first, I thought this week's case was understandably uninteresting so as not to overshadow the character development in both episodes. But again, taking the Abbot's advice myself, I really appreciate how the writer used elements of this case and setting (the painting, the noodle maker, the road) to tie the main storylines together. I don't want to be overly optimistic about the finale, but the subtlety of the writing this week has renewed my faith in the show's direction. Needless to say, I can't wait to see how this all comes together next week, even though I'm not ready to say goodbye to this beautiful show just yet.
Check out my midseason review (eps 1-8) and last week's review on eps 11-12!

Alright so episode 12 thoughts are gonna be minimal because this wasn't a favorite ep for me
1. Okay despite attorney Ryu being described as loud, I STILL didn't expect the switch to the protest
2. THE CAR CHASE VROOM VROOM
3. Min Woo has my eternal hate forever and ever amen
4. The discussion between Jun Ho and Woo Young Woo about whether they were dating or not was actually one of my favorite scenes right up there with Attorney Ryu not using the evidence Min Woo (demon spawn) sent
5. Jung Myeong Seok NEEDS A BREAK I don't know how he was functioning
6. Preview: JEJU AND DOLPHIN WATCHING AND LAWYER FAM VACATION. Also, I once again saw that clip with Min Woo and Su Yeon and all I'm saying is if they do go that route I will be SO SO disappointed (as i would be in general with anyone paired with Min Woo). My hopes for next week are some Woo Young Woo and Jun Ho discussions to continue clearing things up but most importantly I hope she sees the dolphins and everyone gets to fucking chill, 10/10 preview we love a beach episode

Personal Favorite Scenes of 2nd Week of March’s Ongoing Drama(s)
1. Beyond Evil
Lee Dong Shik’s guilt and grievance upon realizing that Min Jung was still alive when he ransacked Kang Jin Mook’s kimchi yard. The pain, the great regret in his expression is just great.
Yoo Jae Yi went alone to look for her mother’s remains while fully aware that it might be a trap and she might get killed by Kang Jin Mook. She doesn’t care and afraid of any danger, she only wants to meet her mother.
2. Sisyphus: The Myth
Kang Seo Hae’s trying rides at the amusement park she went with her parents when she was a kid. This showed her pureness and subtly strong desire to change the world back to as she was little.
The smile Sun made when he spotted Seo Hae in front of Han Tae Sul’s house. Not overexcited or exaggeratedly happy, just ‘oh, there she is’. A genuine happiness.
3. Vincenzo
Hong Cha Young casually put her chin on Vincenzo’s shoulder while persuading him to went along with the plan.
Just Cha Young bouncing happily while walking with Vincenzo after practically winning against Babel.
4. Mouse
Oh Bong Yi regrets as most of the time she rejected her grandmother’s food. This scene is a huge slap for her as Jung Ba Reum had just warned her the day before, “Keep acting like this, and you’ll only regret it once she passes.”
The innocent (or dumb?) Detective Shin Sang using the evidence to make Hong Ju coffee 😂.
5. Times
The moment Seo Jung In realized that Lee Jin Woo had changed and she’s the one who made him the way he is now.
Breaking point of a lifetime friendship and losing a bestfriend. “Because I was afraid you’d die!” that line is so heartbreaking.

A bit ago, I started playing dnd (with friends I met through opm, woo!). It’s been really fun. I also have a brother who creates music as a hobby and commissioned him to make a soundtrack for my character. I LOVE the results and on a whim decided I want to make some animations & stills to go with it. That’ll be 4 min long, that’s a big project but gosh it’ll be fun! But because of this, I’ll be drawing less of other stuff for a bit, though I likely will still draw opm fanart when I need a break. Just letting you all know, so you know I’m not dead!
For funsies, here is my character:
Dragonborn monk raised by elves, well-meaning but a bit overwhelmed after leaving the monastery. Loves birds and food (not combined though! Birds are friends!) but most of all she loves punching enemies. Chronic RBF, her name is Morwen and she’s currently lv 5.

What happens:
Bae Tami is a director for the number one search engine platform in Korea, Unicon. One day a scandal breaks out and she is used as a scape goat by her company to try and get out of the mess. Because of Tami being the face to the problem, she is fired by the company, in the process once and for all ruining her 10 year relationship with friend and co-worker Song Ga Kyeong. After getting an offer from the rival company, Barro, Tami decides to join the newly created team in charge of making Barro number 1 and beating Unicon. A member of this team new team is Scarlet (Cha Hyeon), who doesn't really like Tami and is opposed to the idea of them working together. This drama explores the friendship between Tami and Scarlet, the romantic relationship between Tami and Morgan, a guy who is 10 years younger than her. It also shows us Song Ga Kyeong's rocky marriage and her difficult relationship with her mother in law.
Comment:
I absolutely love this drama, they did a terrific job with the plot and the casting of the characters. The drama depicted reality, it did not sugar coat things and showed them as they really are. One thing that it also did amazingly in is keep it light and comedic. For example the relationship between Tami and Morgan was realistic. The writers/producers did not only show the romantic side to their relationship but also showed us the struggles they had to go through because of their age gap and of the differences in the things they want for their future.
A large part of the show focuses on “political drama” that happens between the main character and the side characters. Through out all of this, they were able to keep a light overall tone and make it comedic, even some situations where the atmosphere was supposed to be serious. Another thing the show does amazingly is making the viewer emphasise with the characters. The roles are so well thought out that there are no inconsistencies with the characters themselves and the relationship they have with other people in the drama. Also the friendship between Scarlet and Tami is so funny, I love it!
Rating: 5\5
