I know this might be unnecessary and not that big of a deal but damn what are those thumbnail on the new episode...
It felt like they put a bunch of screenshot then put it all together, there's no room for them and it felt crowded and doesn't have any space for the characters, the colors doesn't make any sense to me (stolitz is dark red, dhorks dark green and the cherubs are light blue-purple ish??),and i think its kinda bit of a spoiler to put cherubs and the stolitz drama on the thumbnail.
I definitely agree. Looking at it further there is so many more things wrong with this thumbnail than just looking like fan art.
Not only does the art look worse, it's just way too cluttered here. The colors clash so badly the thumbnail becomes an eyesore to look at; we have the darker reds for Stolas and Blitzo, the dark greens for the Dhorks, and the blues for the Cherubs, PLUS the general colors for all the characters. None of these colors go well at all and they clash so badly.
PLUS we have the logo in the corner which haves a bright red aura around it which is right on top of the dark green of the Dhorks, further cluttering the thumbnail and adding more colors that clash badly. The shadding on the characters also looks bad, it's far too saturated and it adds more colors that just don't go well at all, not to mention this weird glowing effect on Blitz and Stolas' eyes that just further makes it look like an eyesore.
NOT TO MENTION THE INCONSISTANT LIGHTING. It's dark and glowey for Blitz, Stolas and the dhorks but bright for cherubs, which clashes badly as well.
It all just looks crammed. Like, just compare this thumbnail to the one for the episode that came right before it.
LOOK AT HOW MUCH BETTER IT IS!!! Like the difference is night and day. Not only is it less cluttered, but there's a better sense of color theory here and the colors don't clash with each other badly. The logo has a yellow aura on it which goes well with Mammon's and the rest of the thumbnail colors since the rest of the thumbnail has quite a bit of yellow too.
Like wtf happened here???? Viv's thumbnails are starting to have the same issue as her character desgins; she has no sense of color theory, there's too many details and things crammed into the desgin, and it just looks like an eyesore to look at.
Did someone else make the thumbnail for this episode?? Because there's such a stark difference between the two that I think I can believe it.
I've said it before but like, this desgin just looks like fan art. Really bad fan art.

Part 2 of reblog thing that im making into a post of its own just to add doodles hehehehe anyway.
So for the mask, there was a metal clamp that dug in beneath her eyes and into the bridge of her nose. Take my half-assed design as a poor example. Maybe sometime in the future I'll actually take the time to plan out mechanisms for the mask. Today is not that day.
The mask has made her eyes much redder and a bit glowey [glowing eyes are like- my favorite thing to add to characters.] My excuse is the masks wiring messed with the nerves or something, messed with the ink and added Bioluminescence. Idk. She can see somewhat okay, i'm fighting every urge to blind the woman.
Her memory is sort of all over the place, sometimes she completely forgets days to weeks worth of time or she'll suddenly remember an attac mode moment. This is my excuse to have her carry a body cam, she looks back on footage to remember things. This also kinda ties in the whole soul fragment and memory thing of the memverse. Her ink color is a bit more watered down, no matter what color it is, and she's stuck with the black ink tipped fingers. Style reasons. I'll be honest, most of my process is design first and figure it out later. Muh bad.
And uhhh, for ghits and shiggles she's a vampire squid.
#4 lore#howdy yall#ratkingart#digital art#im stuck using the ratking tag cuz its my brand#doodlysketch#sploon#agent 4#y'all side order owns my soul.

tw: nightmares, death mention, trauma mention
BotW post-Calamity
It wasn’t the first time she woke up with a strangled cry, and it certainly wouldn’t be the last. Nightmares were a common occurrence in that little Hateno house, inhabited by a former princess and her knight attendant, both of which carried a deep seeded trauma as victims of war.
Zelda hated dreaming. Those ominous, unsettling dreams followed her since childhood, which was a natural thing. The world was amazing in the eyes of a child, but it could also be a scary thing when they lacked the capacity to (word) the bad. She had plenty after her mother passed. Nearly every night, she was plagued with the vision of a body, or her mother’s voice beckoning her close enough to the darkness for something to grab her.
Even dreams that weren’t quite unnerving enough to be considered a nightmare caused her distress. Perhaps that was because, on the very dawn of the day of Calamity, she was visited by a woman in white. Whatever she said had fallen on deaf ears. Zelda no longer trusted the warm comfort of happier dreams, either. The tone could change within a heartbeat and she’d never learned how to control them.
She didn’t know why the glowing, turquoise hand left her with the same feeling the woman in the white dress had. Maybe she was just shaken up by the glowing eyes that looked too familiar for her taste. Zelda tried to write it off as just another lingering effect of spending years in malice, but she didn’t think she’d be going back to sleep any time soon.
And just like with every other nightmare, no matter who’s end it was on, there was immediate comfort. Without a word, Link was guiding her back to laying down. She rested her head on his chest, staring into nothing, afraid that if she closed her eyes, the eyes burned into her memory would stare right back.
It took a few minutes of him threading his fingers through her short hair for her breathing to calm. She didn’t realize she’d been hyperventilating. Or that he’d been humming softly the entire time. Zelda nuzzled further into his chest as thanks, picking idly at a loose thread on his shirt.
“I know that song,” she whispered into the darkness. “It’s an old one.”
“I like to think we’re pretty old,” Link replied.
“Ancient,” she agreed with a small shrug, “if what the children call Impa is any hint.”
“And you don’t look a day over one hundred.”
Zelda laughed softly, trying not to shake her head too much. It was comfortable on his chest, where she could hear his heartbeat and remind herself that he was alive. He was here, he wasn’t going anywhere, and it was over.
“Do you want to talk about it?” he asked. There was no harm in it. It was only a dream, so she recounted all that she could remember to him: the dark, mysterious caves, the turquoise hand, the shriveled corpse, and those glowing, red eyes. A shudder went down her spine at the memory, but it didn’t last long when he resumed playing in her hair.
“I think I could take a shriveled body,” he replied at last. She gave his shoulder a gentle whack.
“I’m serious,” she argued, fighting back a laugh.
“So am I. What would it do, hobble at me all menacingly?”
He was trying to make her feel better. She couldn’t deny that it was working incredibly well for just how silly and sleepy he sounded.
“And what do you make of the glowey hand?” she asked.
“That one’s a little more concerning. Thankfully, I have two of them.” She raised her head just enough to see him hold both of his hands out, wiggling his fingers at her.
“You’re ridiculous.”
“It’s outnumbered,” he defended, folding his arms back around her.
“Go back to sleep, dummy.”
“Only if I can drag you down with me.”
Zelda rolled her eyes, but she no longer felt too unnerved to fall back asleep. She didn’t know how long they’d been awake, but she was drowsy again and the steady rise and fall of Link’s chest was as relaxing as the pillow she’d slept on before. She didn’t feel like moving, so she closed her eyes right where she was. He kissed the top of her head, something that always warmed her heart, and it took no time at all for her to fall back into a pleasant and undisturbed sleep.
How nice it was to have her knight protecting her, even if it was from something as silly as a nightmare.

Let’s Talk About Pokemon - Galarian Ponyta and Rapidash
Galarian Ponyta:
Here, we're already hitting something that was on my Pokemon Wishlist! Though it's in a context I wouldn't have initially expected, as a new form for Ponyta! As fairly straightforward it is, it IS honestly everything I could've asked for out of a unicorn Pokemon. While it doesn't go as crazy with colors as I would've expected, it's still a pleasant set of colors they've chosen that gives it an air of pretty. Purply pink/lavender and cyan just really compliment each other very nicely with the white. Very Trans Rights.
Heck, if you look at the two side by side, they've even significantly changed up its physiology! That's another thing that was missing from regional variants. They didn't really change the physical body of the Pokemon itself much beyond Alolan Golem having some stumpier arms and Alolan Raticate being fatter. Galarian Ponyta looks very notably different, definitely aiming for more cutesy proportions with a bigger head, eyes, and daintier body, along with being overall shorter. Very unsubtly going for the My Little Pony aesthetic. I do appreciate the eyes remaining more animal-like too.
Its cartoony proportions also help it feel a little less like yet another “just an animal” design than normal Ponyta does. While the big poofy mane is definitely by default a lot more grounded than regular Ponyta's fiery one, it does do this!
What else? If you wanted a crazy rainbow unicorn, they still have they covered by having its large, fluffy mane glow bright and wavy colors when it's happy or using its special moves. Now THAT'S more like it! The effect is definitely really pretty ingame and has definitely proven that I'm gonna have far too much fun whenever I draw this thing. It's just so gosh darn cutesy!
BUT wait a minute! The unicorn on my wishlist was for Fairy type, and Ponyta's type is... mono Psychic? What's up with that? Well...
The old most traditional image of a unicorn is more than just a horse with a horn and some magical powers. Unicorns were users of healing magic in particular. Most specifically, the kind of healing magic that cures people of being poisoned. And what type among Pokemon's 18 is most well known for being the counter to Poison type? It'd be a little awkward to portray Galarian Ponyta as a poison-healing horse while simultaneously being really weak to poison itself.
You could also say it's a play on the phrase “friendship is magic” since I’d imagine there’s at least SOME My Little Pony inspiration going into this design. And Psychic is easily just as much an expy for a “Magic Type” as Fairy is. SO fair enough, you got me there. Whatever though, I got the crazy colorful horse I've always wanted and I love it no matter what type it may be.
Also fun little pun. Galarian Ponyta is categorized as a “Unique Horn Pokemon.” Unique-horn. Uniquehorn! Hahaha. Again, got me with that one.
Galarian Rapidash:
And if Rapidash had to be the one that turned into a unicorn, it did at the very least become everything I could've possibly asked for. The only fault here I can think that keeps me from liking it as much as Ponyta is that its eyes go back to a much more generic anime-eye aesthetic. And in general I kinda just personally prefer Ponyta's fluffy, unkempt hair. Rapidash's mane is by no means worse but just due to personal preference Ponyta's looks nicer to me.
Everything else is very nice though. My biggest problem with Ponyta and Rapidash was that other than having a horn, Rapidash was just Big Ponyta. Galarian Rapidash fixes that big time, which VERY MLP-esque hair all curly and nice and with a much more pronounced horn. Like. It's just straight up Celestia. There's no debate to be had here.
It's just a shame about the eyes, they're just about the one thing keeping this design from being perfect. Even if we had to have anime eyes, couldn't they be obnoxiously pretty anime eyes or something??? Though I SUPPOSE it's amusing enough to see what a mildly miffed unicorn looks like.
Obviously it comes with the same glowing mane look regular Ponyta does. Though again, I feel like the effect isn't QUITE as effective on this one, since its colors are in individual streaks of hair rather than flowing from lavender into blue, which sold the cool glowey effect better. Bah, I don't mean to nitpick this thing to death. A lot of my praises have just been already sung for Ponyta. Rapidash is just VERY close to being perfection. But instead I have to settle with ALMOST perfection. Outrageous, right?
...Oh? But Galarian Rapidash IS Fairy type? Well, weird. Can't say I can pinpoint what exactly about Rapidash is inherently more Fairy-esque than Ponyta. Why not just make them both Psychic/Fairy? Okay then.
And of course, everyone was hoping that Rapidash might be an alicorn; a combination of unicorn and pegasus with both horns AND wings. It is kinda disappointing but I'm not heartbroken over it. I'm just surprised they didn't go for it, or even gave it a new Regional Evolution for it.
Bah, there's too much complaining here! Sorry, I do genuinely love Rapidash a lot. Ponyta just pushes all the right buttons for me and Rapidash pushes slightly less right buttons. Just makes me think of what COULD'VE been, y'know?
Personal Score: 10/10

Knitting (Tom x Reader Fic)
A few weeks ago you found out that you and Tom were expecting your first child. The excitement you both had could light up an entire city. You both planned on waiting until after your first trimester, the most dangerous and common time to miscarriage, to make this new public... but Tom is fucking adorable and spoiled the news in an unexpected way.
Tom loved your passion for making things. He had, on more than one occasion, shown off socks you had made him during interviews. It had become a joke with a few of the late night shows whenever he came on. The day you started to suspect that something was amiss he went to the store and got the test. You both paced back and forth as you waited for the results. Every few seconds he would go stare at it, then come back. When the phone timer finally beeped he flashed by into the bathroom and squealed in delight. He ran to you and spun you around giggling like a kid. It took you a few minutes to get over the shock, but soon you were as excited as he was.
He later came to you carrying all the reusable grocery bags you both owned and a mischievous grin on his face. “C'mon babe! I have an idea!” You would rather nap, but his energy was contagious and motivated you enough to get up off the couch.
“Okay, but I need to change. Im still in my pajamas.” He walked around you, checking you out. “You look amazing to me. I don't care if you want to wear this out, but if you want to change, I'll wait.”
“If I wear this, I'm wearing my kitty cat slippers with it... so at least it will match.”
“Lovely idea.”
You got in the car and buckled up as he put the bags in the back seat and then got in to the driver's seat. Every few seconds he glanced over at you and beamed. You were still nervous about all this, but you didn't want to spoil his joy. So many things could go wrong at this point and knowing this ate at you, you wanted this so bad... but... things happen... You just didn't want to get all hopeful that something you had wanted since childhood was happening, and then it just... not happen.
“Don't you think its a bit early?” You asked as he drove through the streets.
He looked up at the sky through the windshield “Its already early evening, not very early at all.” he responded, seeming confused.
“No. I mean...” you sighed and he pulled over into an empty parking space. He turned to you and put a hand on your shoulder.
“Are you alright?”
“yeah... Im just”
“Hon, if something isn't right you have to let me know. If you're not ready, its okay. Don't let my excitement make you feel like you need to go through something if you're not ready for it.”
“No, it... it isn't that.”
“Then what?” He caressed your face then put his hand behind your head and placed his forehead onto yours. “What's wrong, love?”
“Its so early. Things could go wrong. I could lose our baby at any moment. Even without anything happening. Fuck, Tom... there's a chance I already did and wouldn't even know yet. I'm so scared.” He pulled back and stared into your eyes, his face falling as your anxiety hit him. He bear hugged you as best as he could from across the center console.
“I didn't even consider that. I got completely wrapped up in my own excitement. Ugh. I... I don't even know” He sat back in his seat, his hand massaging his forehead. “I don't know if this helps any, but... yeah I know how risky this part is, the statistics and stuff. In my head I'm already... fuck I doubt this is gonna come out right.”
“What?” you say as the tears of your pent up nervousness finally broke free
“If something bad happens, at least this early.” He sighed and fought to say what he meant “I'm not okay with it, but I have already made peace with the possibility. There is no pressure on you, from me at least for this to go a certain way. If we have to try again, even a few times I'm okay with that. I know this whole process will be completely different from your perspective. Please tell me how you're feeling so I know how best to care for you, both of you.”
“Okay.” you reply through snuffles and tears. He handed you a tissue and waited for you to let him know how to proceed. “It does help me a lot to know you feel like that. I'm still scared though. I'm so scared, that I don't want to let myself even get excited or want this too much.”
“What do you want to do? We can go back home and order pizza and relax if you want. No pressure. This was all a spur of the moment thing because I got excited.”
“Not, not if this is baby shopping stuff. I can't deal with that yet. Please.”
“It isn't exactly that. I guarantee you want to go where I was planning, but you may change the 'why' we are going if you want. It can be a 'me spoiling you a bit' thing if you like.”
“I'm confused.”
“Do you want me to go ahead and tell you, or should it be a surprise?”
“Uh, you pick I guess.”
“Mkay, surprise it is then.” his voice had picked back up, but there was still an edge of reservation to it. A few minutes passed. “close your eyes, dear.” You did. If it had been anyone else, this gentle command would have sent your anxiety reeling, but with him, somehow... it just felt okay.
The car drove on for a minute or two more and pulled to a stop and parked. “Okay love, open your eyes.” You squealed in delight when you realized where you were. Right outside the huge crafts supply store you loved. “You said a few times that you wanted to make baby stuff as soon as you found out you were expecting. But if you aren't okay with that just get what you want for yourself.”
“What about both?”
“Both is perfectly perfect dear.” He said with that glowey look he gets as he helped you out the car and grabbed you both a cart.
“What if I get carried away again?”
“If I have to call a rental moving truck to get everything home, I will...” He chuckled, though you were pretty sure he wasn't joking.
As soon as you entered the shop you went straight for the textiles section. You had so many ideas, and without a budget to adhere to, you kinda threw stuff in the cart as soon as ideas popped into your head. The first few times Tom brought you here you had only bought a few things. You didn't want to be a bother, or feel like you were wasting his hard earned money. This frustrated him, so one time he followed you around, and grabbed whatever you longingly looked at but put back. Every. Single. Thing. You ended up going home with more crafts stuff that day than you probably had across your entire life. It was his way of begging you to allow him to spoil you, and it worked.
You quickly lost track of your hubby, but didn't really notice. He texted you “You okay? We got a bit split up.”
“Yeah. I'm a bit worn out. Home and pizza?”
“Darling, you know I never say no to pizza... Want me to pull up the car and you go ahead and checkout?”
“That works”
“Mkay”
You snaked your way through the aisles towards the checkout, purchased the supplies, bagged them and wheeled the cart out to the car. Tom was waiting and quickly grabbed several bags and put them in the back seat. He was a bit slower with the rest, oddly enough.
“In a hurry hubbs?”
“Pizza is involved.” he responded as he packed the last few bags and took the cart back inside. You got in the car and buckled up. When he came out you couldn't help but notice that glimmer of 'I'm very much up to something' in his eyes. He noticed you looking at him and quickly that impish glint flickered away. Professionally trained to hide mischief face...
When you got home he asked for you to call in your standard pizza order while he brought everything in. The second trip he made to the car took considerably longer than the first. Just as you began to worry that something had happened, he came in.
“Tom, is that a Loki sticker on your head?” He burst out laughing, put down the bags, pulled off the sticker and stuck it onto the refrigerator.
“Yeah, a little girl recognized me outside and said they had to give Loki their sticker. It was adorable. Their mum wanted an autograph too and I ended up chatting a bit. Did you get the call in for pizza?”
“Mhm. Should be a few more minutes.”
“Got any ideas for what to watch?”
“Yeah, but its silly... we have seen it several times...”
“Does it happen to star a certain actor we both intimately know?”
“Yeeeeeah...”
“Which one? Also its not silly. I am a fabulous actor and you like watching me and snuggling me at same time, and its fucking adorable.” the hint of glee and faux diva he added to his voice made you chuckle a bit.
“I was thinking of watching The Night Manager again.”
“Excellent choice. I hear that one of the producers may have a nice ass...” You gently elbow him and slap the referred to 'nice ass'. One thing led to another, and before you realized it, you were standing behind the main door, full on making out. His tongue invading every crevice of your mouth, his hands groped you all over. You returned these touches in kind. You both filled the room with moans until you remembered the pizza delivery person would be arriving soon. You pulled back and looked up at your tall husband. His eyes were dreamy and far away as they stared down at you. You looked down further and realized how much you had 'effected' him.
A whimper from near your feet drew both of your attention. The cats and Bobby had been staring at the both of you for a bit. “I'll feed them and you get the pizza when it comes?” You ask him and he nods, still a bit stuck in the heat of the earlier moment. The doorbell rings as you fill the furballs' bowls.
“OH MY GOD ITS TOM HIDDLESTON.” came from the other side of the door.
“Yes, it is.” He chuckled a bit.
“My boss didn't tell me who I was delivering to, they just grinned and gave the order and address. I know its, like, completely unprofessional, but, like, can I please have your autograph?” You grabbed a sharpie and a piece of paper on your way to the door and handed them to Tom.
“Of course. How would you like it made out?” Tom asked
“Oh, I don't really care. I'm just a bit...” they squealed and tried hard to fight for composure. Tom wrote out a short note and signed it. He paid for the pizza and handed the pizza to you.
“Hey, I know its a bit much to ask for, but can I have a selfie with you?”
“Sorry, but we have a policy to not do pictures around the house. I hope you understand. If I see you another time, perhaps we can take pictures together then?”
“Yeah, no, I get it. Totally cool. Thank you so much for being nice and the note and stuff already.”
“No problem. Have a good night.” Tom ended the conversation as he closed the door.
“You're gonna go there tomorrow aren't you...” Tom had a habit of going out of his way to be sweet to people.
“Oh dear, you know me all too well.”
A bit later you were both snuggled together on the couch, eating pizza, and watching The Night Manager together. He absentmindedly started rubbing your lower abdomen, but stopped short. “Is this alright?” He didn't want you to get anxious again about the baby.
“Its fine” you reply as you snuggle even closer to him, your head on his chest and the sound of his heartbeat in your ear. The safety and comfort you felt began to lull you to sleep as the first episode ended.
“Babe, I really need to pee.” He shifted uncomfortably until you untangled from him. He got up quickly and left the room.
“Actually I should probably do the same.” you got up and waited for him to finish. After you finished you went back to the couch but he wasn't there. Rustling emanated from the other room, and soon Tom came in carrying one of the bags from earlier. He plopped down on the couch beside you and thought for a moment. “Uh, if you're not okay with this right now just let me know, okay?” He asked.
“Alright. Whatcha got there babe?”
“I kinda...” He started pulling out yarn and a 'learn to knit' kit. “I wanted to know if you would teach me so I could make stuff for the baby too.” His cheeks blushed because he worried about your reaction.
“Of course I'll teach you.” The show played in the background as you both knitted. You would show him a step, he would practice, and you would show him another step. He started with a basic stocking stitch scarf. You figured that would teach him quite a bit without being too complicated. He was soon making consistent progress and you were both able to get back into the show without him needing much help.
Several weeks later he was away from home to film a part for an upcoming movie. The internet was flooded with paparazzi photos of Tom Hiddleston knitting baby booties and a cap. Speculation soared about whether the actor was about to become a first time father.

TTA Oneshot: Creature Feature
This oneshot was spawned from me wondering why, if Beast Boy can become alien animals, he never takes advantage of that fact to morph into sapient alien animals with superpowers of their own. I still don't have an answer for why he never tried going dragon after the team fought Malchior, though. Maybe that form is too big to maneuver through the city?
Fun fact: the episode Betrothed is immediately followed by Crash, which actually gives this story a neat little niche to fit in. You'll see what I mean later in the story.
(This oneshot is crossposted on fanfiction.net, as part of the Moments series)
Creature Feature Beast Boy narrowed his eyes and stared at his hand. He was alone in the common room, sprawled out on the couch with a forgotten comic tossed to the side.
The Titans had recently returned from their first-ever trip to Tamaran, and it had certainly been… an experience. A good experience in the end, mind you, but the whole wedding thing and Starfire being a princess and Blackfire having at some point taken over the planet and then the wedding thing being a trap that they stopped and Starfire kicking her sister’s sorry butt and taking the crown… It had all been kinda overwhelming.
Pretty cool though. Even if Beast Boy still couldn’t figure out how half the furniture on that planet worked. Was that what Star had felt like when she first came to Earth?
Anyway, point was, so much had happened during their little space trip that he had almost forgotten something cool he’d learned about himself. Now that he remembered, though, he couldn’t get the thought out of his head.
A low whoosh signaled the entrance of another Titan, and Beast Boy’s ears pricked. He sat up and looked over the back of the couch to see Starfire floating through the doorway.
A wide grin split his face. “Hey, Star! You got a sec? I actually wanted to talk to you about something.”
Starfire perked up at the sound of his voice, and she made her way over. “What is it?”
Beast Boy started bouncing in his seat. “So, you know those giant freaky Tamaranean guard dogs?”
Starfire blinked. “Guard do- You mean the gloorgs?”
“Sure, the gloogs or whatever. Point is, when we were trying to crash your wedding, I was able to morph into one! How cool is that?”
Starfire’s eyes widened a fraction, and she sat down and scooted closer to him. “Fascinating. So, you wish to learn more about Tamaranean wildlife so you may better wield their forms?”
Beast Boy shook his head, still grinning. “Not exactly. See, sentient lifeforms like humans are just really smart animals, right? So if I can turn into Tamaranean animals, then I should be able to turn into a Tamaranean. How cool is that?!”
Now, when he had pictured this conversation in his head, this part had led to a lot of gobsmacked awe and maybe a call for celebration over the sheer potential of his newfound power. Tamaraneans were, after all, a plainly powerful race – and not the only one, either. With a little effort, he could probably morph into a Martian, or an Atlantean, or even a freaking Kryptonian.
He could be ALL the superheroes.
Instead, Starfire’s response was simply to clap once and smile at him. “Oh, that does sound interesting! I would be quite happy to share more of my heritage with you, if that is what you wish.”
Well… That wasn’t quite the expected level of enthusiasm. Beast Boy deflated a little, but he shook it off. She probably just hadn’t considered all the ramifications yet.
“Okay, just sit tight,” he said instead, adjusting his position. “I’m gonna try it.”
Starfire nodded, and Beast Boy squinted and tried to focus. His shapeshifting was more-or-less an instinctive thing, but he needed a firm grasp of the animal in question to do it. He was too used to thinking of Star as just another person with powers, rather than a whole different species.
After a few moments, he pinpointed what he wanted and stretched. That was the only way he could ever think of to describe it, even when he was shrinking his form.
It was a… bizarre sensation. He was used to changing shape completely, his flesh warping around itself in a way that was a lot less unpleasant than it sounded. This time the shift was much more subtle – little more than a vague tingling sensation and a few more noticeable shifts in his face and gut. That was… probably a good sign?
Not sure what else to do, he held up a hand and looked at it again, flexing and curling his fingers. He couldn’t see any difference, but no real surprise there. Still…
“Hey, do I look any different to you?” he asked her. “Taller, maybe? I feel like Tamaraneans are all really tall.”
Starfire looked him over and hummed in thought, then smiled. She zipped over to the kitchen and rummaged around for a few moments before returning with a large metal platter and holding it up to him.
Beast Boy squinted at his reflection. It took him a moment to notice what with all the green already on his face, but then his eyes widened.
The whites of said eyes weren’t so white anymore. Also, his eyebrows had shrunk to little dots.
With a triumphant cackle, he leaped up on the couch. “Dude! It really worked! I’m a Tamaranean now!” He started punching the air.
“Okay, when do I get to start chucking starbolts at bad guys?”
Starfire set the platter down and commented, “I very much doubt that you will be able to do that.”
Beast Boy froze mid-punch. “Huh? Why not?”
Starfire leaned back on her hands. “It takes a significant amount of power to generate enough stellar energy for ranged use. It bears similarities to training the muscles to increase your strength.” She shrugged. “I required several years of training to use starbolts with any consistency.”
Beast Boy frowned. “Oh. I guess that makes sense.”
Well, bummer. Still, he wasn’t about to be deterred. Hopping down to the floor, he asked, “So what about flying then? I could still fly around and punch stuff and not have to worry about my arms getting tired!”
Starfire perked up. “Oh, that is much simpler! For that you must focus on the unbridled joy of flight. If you feel flight, and allow that feeling to buoy you, then it will come to you naturally.”
Joy? Piece of cake. Beast Boy squeezed his eyes shut and pictured himself zooming through the air, doing loop-de-loops and punching through walls and all the other cool stuff he’d seen Star do even when she wasn’t hurling glowey green lasers around.
It was going to be awesome.
With that last thought, something clicked in his head and he felt his feet leave the ground. His eyes snapped open to find himself halfway to the ceiling.
“Ha-hah!” he shouted, pumping both fists in the air. “Behold the mighty Space Boy! I am invincible! I am –”
And that was when he smacked his head hard against the ceiling.
“So that’s how I learned that stopping and steering with weird mental flight powers is a lot harder when you haven’t grown up doing it.”
Beast Boy, human again, held an ice pack against the back of his head as he finished his story. From where she was meditating a few feet away, Raven cracked an eye open and turned it on him.
“Did you really hit yourself hard enough to need that?” she asked.
Beast Boy shrugged. “Eh, not really. Tamaraneans are pretty tough.” With a grumble he added, “And now I know why.”
He pulled the ice pack away and frowned at it. “Also, apparently they need to focus on something to make super strength work, too? What is even up with that?”
“Considering Starfire can tear through solid concrete with the muscle mass of a bean pole, I’d imagine a lot.”
Beast Boy’s eyes slid over to her, and a smirk made its way to his mouth. “Buuut, you know what does make sense as something you need focus for?”
Raven opened her other eye and narrowed both at him. “I don’t like where this is going.”
Beast Boy jumped to his feet and started bouncing on his heels. “Seriously! You’re from, like, another dimension, right? And your magic kinda works on its own, so it’s gotta come from whatever species you are instead of being something you have to study for like a wizard. Tell me I’m wrong!”
His companion simply crossed her arms. “I’m half human.”
“Really? Oh, well, the other half then.” He gasped. “Or maybe I could actually be a hybrid! Why did I never think of that before? I could mix together all the best species and become some sort of ultra-beast!”
Raven rolled her eyes. “Hybrids don’t work that way.” Sighing with the air of defeat that said she’d never get her meditation done now, she swung her legs out of the lotus position and stood up.
For his part, Beast Boy shook his head. “Right. One thing at a time.” He returned his full attention to her.
“Sooo, spill the details. What do I need to know about your super-cool interdimensional magic half?”
Raven looked suddenly very uncomfortable, for reasons he couldn’t quite place. Looking back on the conversation later, he’d come to conclude that it probably had something to do with the freaky giant probably-not-the-human-parent “father” he’d once seen in her mindscape (and much later he’d understand that it had everything to do with him). But for now, all he knew was that she was avoiding eye contact and hesitating as if looking for an excuse to change the subject.
Finally, she shook her head and settled on a simple, “Forget it. It’s way too dangerous, and if you couldn’t handle Tamaranean powers then there’s no way you’d be able to handle mine.”
Beast Boy deflated. “Aww, how come? Your powers are a straightforward ‘think a thing, make a shield or whatever,’ right? No special physical training or weird emotion games.”
Raven let out a long-suffering sigh and pinched the bridge of her nose. “First off, it’s not that simple. But more importantly, let’s put it this way. You remember the incident with the Puppet King, when Starfire and I had to save you with our bodies switched?”
Beast Boy shuddered a little at the memory. “It’s kinda hard to forget.”
“You might not have noticed considering your… condition at the time, but the differences in our training and emotional states meant we both had trouble with each other’s powers. In my case, I had a hard time accessing her powers because of the emotional energy they required.”
Beast Boy snorted and muttered, “Yeah, no wonder,” under his breath. Raven turned a withering glare on him, and after a few moments of squirming he cleared his throat.
“Uh, sorry. Go on.”
The sorceress just kept her warning look on him as she continued. “In her case, she was in a constant struggle to keep from accidentally blowing us up.”
It took him a few seconds for that to fully sink in.
“…Oh.”
“Aww, come on, you gotta have something!”
Hot Spot let out a low sigh over the communicator. “I don’t know what to tell you. I was raised by human parents, my powers and the ones the other hybrid kids have are all different, and I haven’t exactly taken the time to study H’san Natall biology. For all I know, you wouldn’t get any new powers at all.”
Beast Boy groaned dramatically and flopped over on his chair. “Duude, I’m having like no luck with this!” He huffed. “Thanks anyway.”
Hot Spot gave him a flat look. “Yeeeeah, next time you want to learn more about the vicious alien invaders who secretly sired and later kidnapped me, just feel free to hit me up.”
After a moment’s thought, he added, “Have you tried Aqualad yet? You guys are buddies or something, right?”
Beast Boy chewed on the inside of his cheek. “Yeah, turns out like half of his powers are some kinda magic that doesn’t come with the species.”
There was a long awkward moment where neither hero knew where to take the conversation. “So, is that everything?” Hot Spot finally asked. “Because if you didn’t need anything else…”
Beast Boy sighed. “Yeah, that was it. Talk to you later.”
The line went out, and he looked morosely over his list of non-human Titans. It wasn’t too short considering there were only five core members and a handful of honoraries, and he’d been so sure he could find something that worked. But Hot Spot had been his last hope. Maybe he should just try morphing into a H’san Natall and see what happened?
He tried that, squeezing his eyes shut and focusing on what he knew about Hot Spot. He strained for several seconds, but nothing clicked, nothing stretched, and in the end, he probably just looked like an idiot.
Well, nuts. Either he couldn’t do hybrids after all and Hot Spot wasn’t enough to give him the full species, or whatever had let him morph Tamaranean didn’t apply here.
Technically, he could still ask Robin to hook him up with the Justice League’s alien members. But if he couldn’t even work out how to mimic his own teammates, what was the point?
With nothing else to do now that his little project had failed, Beast Boy found himself heading toward the garage. Cyborg was there, making yet more upgrades to the T-car.
“This is delicate work, don’t touch anything,” he said by rote as he saw his friend enter.
Beast Boy sighed again and plopped down on a workbench. “Yeah, I know.”
Cyborg looked up from his work. “No luck with ‘Space Boy,’ I’m guessing? Because I hate to tell you, but I don’t think robots count as a species.”
“You heard about that?”
“The girls filled me in.” Cyborg switched tools and got back to work.
Beast Boy flopped back on the bench. “You know what’s really nice? Animal instincts. Not having to work out how to fly, or pounce, or use your teeth and claws, because you just know.”
Cyborg raised a brow at him. “You have to train with your animal forms all the time.”
The shapeshifter frowned. “I guess. But they still make more sense than starbolts or magic.”
Cyborg snorted and wiped his hands off with a cloth. “Coulda told you that.” He frowned thoughtfully.
“You know, maybe you’ve been going about this all wrong. That Tamaranean guard thing was impressive. Have you tried anything new other than sapient beings with complex powersets of their own?”
Beast Boy’s ears perked, and he sat up slowly. “I guess I haven’t really thought a lot about it yet. You think I could do more alien animals?”
Without another thought he shifted back into a gloorg. Cyborg yelped and ran around to shield the car with his body, but the now-alien creature just shifted his weight a little and trotted in place, testing out the new form.
Morphing back, he hummed in thought. “Not too different from some of my dinosaurs, but I still don’t know all of its tricks and there’s a whole planet of probably terrifying animals to explore. I gotta talk to Star!”
Cyborg glared at him, still pressed against his baby. “Please don’t experiment like that next to the delicate machinery.”
Beast Boy waved off the comment, barely registering it. “Yeah, sure thing. Ooh! Maybe I can do hybrids, like a liger or something. Would that be any better than a regular tiger? Oh! Or what if I go the opposite way? Maybe I could be an amoeba. It’d be the perfect infiltrator!”
Peeling himself off the car, Cyborg frowned. “Does that even count as an animal?”
“Not according to modern taxonomy, but neither should alien creatures, so who knows!” Beast Boy cackled and started vaulting up the stairs to the tower proper, two steps at a time. “Space Boy, AWAY!”
He couldn’t see the look on his friend’s face as he ran off to find Starfire again, but as much as he wanted it to be awe and maybe a little envy over his mad skills, he knew it was probably something more akin to pure bafflement. That was okay. As far as he was concerned, Beast Boy had a whole world – no, a whole galaxy of options just waiting to be tried. He didn’t know how many of those options he’d end up using on a regular basis, but that was okay too.
Because whatever happened, it was going to be awesome.

cabbage updates:
So remember that whole plan of balancing life and things and being a human who did shit that I had back in January? Yep. Nope. I turned into a gremlin who hissed at sunlight and read the same fanfic repeatedly while hiding under the blankets (seriously, I’m on my third reread of DtoA since the year started, that’s the equivalent of the entire Harry Potter series three times, send help).
I’ve been keeping up to date with the show (but not spoilers so much), I like where things are going so far and am hoping desperately that Jack gets to have a darkside arc beyond one episode. Jack for s15 big bad 2k19!
I’ve also managed to fall in love with the Expanse, the Dragon Prince, and Lucifer. I keep wanting to draw Tom Ellis with the glowey devil eyes, it’s a thing...
On the personal side, I’ve finally gotten in to see a rheumatologist. No diagnosis for the fatigue yet (he did a handwave “probably in the lupus family but totally not actually lupus”), but he did manage to figure out my joint issues based on how I was sitting on the exam table. Kinda bitter about that one; I always sit that way, so five or six doctors have missed that apparently I’ve got hypermobile joint syndrome (aka shitty shitty ligaments), and yes exercise has actually been making the pain worse and pain meds are never going to properly work. Apparently I get to go to PT.
On the other hand, I actually have a prescription for long hot baths. From a doctor.

now for the fun part! the actual fusions
sam/danny - sammy
- they/them - sarcastic, so very sarcastic, the sassiest, meanest teenager you’ll ever meet. they’ll poke at the things you don’t like about you. - black hair, kinda shaggy but in an emo way. definitely pretty goth. too skinny. pretty heterochromic eyes. baggy comfortable clothes but styled enough to make a statement - magic theme. plants + space = witch. - elemental powers in general but leaning on shadow manipulation color theme is purple, green, and black adding to a space witch vibe - strong sense of justice, really the best of both worlds as far as wanting to save people goes. possibly a little too devoted to their cause. tend to be self sacrificial and nosy - parent issues. do not trust adults at all. very defensive and will avoid them as much as possible. given the ability to turn invisible. it’s pretty easy to avoid them. - protective of tucker and jazz. untrusting of most others. - feral as hell. down to fight anyone. i don’t know who can put the breaks on this kid, but they’re not holding back. - not down with murder though. strongly against murder despite how they rarely pull their punches. - good with animals and plants alike. would spend their time hanging out in the woods or flying if they didn’t have responsibilities. - loves horror movies and have a particular thing for strong women - gets along well with dora, ember, and kitty. but is pretty critical of johnny’s habits - considers Valerie a rival. not just in ghost hunting, in general - tucker likes being seen with them because they make him look cool by proximity
danny/tucker - Tanner
- he/they - nerd.but dumb. neither have the brain cell when fused. have their talents and interest but no social skills - terrible flirt. danny adds a nervousness to tuckers pick up lines that just doesn’t pass vibe checks - despite this is endearing when he ISN’T trying - dark skin, yellow eyes, sorta mixed race look. curly black hair that definitely is defying gravity. boyish vibe, like they feel young and childish and that shows in their body language - loves glowey things and hero costume has tron vibes. - is fantastic with tech. danny doesn’t subtract from tuckers ability and they actually end up inventing more when fused. -more likely to use powers for selfish or self-serving motives. they can be a manipulative little shit sometimes. they still have their hearts in the right place and want to do the right thing. they just also want all the benefits of being the town superhero. - definitely the type to gloat and get distracted during battle. arrogant in general - has an underlying feeling of insecurity. even when together both fear that nothing they do is enough. overcompensates as a result and plays up the bravado - someone please help sam. she can handle them but they’re A LOT -probably spending too much time with technus and picking up bad habits like announcing what they’re doing dramatically. - loves junk food with a passion -avoids the Fenton lab like the plague. some wires got crossed and the hospital phobia fused with the dissection talk. they’re much more afraid of this than danny would be alone - end up bonding with sydney at some point sam/danny/tucker - tammy (?)
- they/them/it - chaotic - if you thought they were feral before you’ve got nothing on a trio fusion - all the skills in one body. they got lots of knowledge, a lot of it useless, but they’re good in a fight - will not eat when in this form. because meat and vegi arguments break the fusion -dark skin, sam’s length of hair but curly and white. prismatic eyes because it’s what they deserve. visibly powerful aura wise, but still skinny. like they’re taller and maybe a little older looking but they don’t look particularly muscular. they got hella cheekbones - leaning into the whole superhero thing to the point where they don’t want to show much of their individual personalities. - generally pretty nerdy but in a cool way. everyone likes them but they don’t expect it and are pretty weird about it. - aloof? in reality they just don’t know what they’re doing. like they know how to do things and they have the ghost fighting and hero thing down to a science, but socailizing? talking to adults? talking to their peers? they can hide it but the reality is they’re improvising everything - just a terrible liar. just really bad - not really friends with anyone in this form they get too antsy. -alone with themselves they’re a giggly giddy dork. they’re having fun being fused. and will experiment with their powers which seem to strech even further than danny’s adaptable core can. - content to just hangout and watch movies or laze about the house if allowed. rarely have the time but that’s their ideal day.

What if one day, Danny was suddenly has the power to fuse with people like in Steven Universe? Like, when he phases into people, he has a choice of either overshadowing them or fusing with them.
He prefers to do it with Sam, Tucker, & Jazz because they're friends & always on hand. Because of Sam & Tucker having been infected with ecto-acne & possessed by powerful entities before (Undergrowth & Duul Aman's staff), they have slight ecto-signatures & echoes of the powers they had when possessed & this results in a more powerful fusion with new abilities. What do you think?
I am on board, i love me some fusion! and having it be ecto-based is interesting. i'd say everyone in town, especially the high schoolers have at least some level of ecto contamination but the line when it becomes a signature is what interests me. sam and tucker are far from the only ones to be possessed, after all. most of the town has been possessed. but i suppose the power level of the ghost makes a difference. i'd also argue that the fact that sam and tucker have litterally been in the ghost zone, same for val actually(the skulker kidnapping). so that could also be a large contribute to all three of them developing signatures.
however much as i love exploring overpowered character, i'm also a writer and need conflict, so balancing. danny should only be able to fuse with people with ecto signatures. if they're too human his ghost side doesn't have enough ecto to fuse with. if they're too ghost, it mostly becomes fighting over who controls his human half. as such the main people he can fuse with would be sam, tucker, valerie, vlad, and dani. maybe jazz but i haven't seen her get exposed to to much ectoplasm (but then again she has lived in that house for years). i could also see the high schoolers, slowly developing enough of a signature to join the list of potential fusion allies but danny would hesitate to fuse with people he doesn't trust anyway. emergency only basis for them.
aside, i feel it's reasonable to assume this is a adaptable core danny fic, because purely ice core would not explain this ability and it's certainly not something other ghost can do or something vlad knows he can do. i imagine it's a rare power in itself and the fact that danny developed it at all was because a major fight. possibly against a hivemind? a being that would critisize him for not being able to beat him because he's just one ghost against many.
continuing the balancing, separating is harder than fusing and there's a strong chance of danny and friends getting stuck the first few times after discovering this power. and the longer spent fused the harder it is to detach. this is one of the areas that it would differ from SU. in SU fusion is mainly a meeting of the minds, a relationship. unfusing is as easy as a disagreement, of wanting to separate. in DP it's a meeting of cores and well... ectoplasm is sticky. i have the mental image of two globs of ectoplasm slowly mixing into each other and merging into one core. one person/ghost. the longer they're stuck together the more the colors blend and the harder it is to separate them out again. arguments or dislike can still help separate the cores. but i imagine the more you trust and care about someone the harder it is to separate in general. this'll give the trio a reason not to fuse recklessly all the time. they love each other and being fused all the time would be great if there weren't consequences. defusing between the three of them is usually a little reluctant.
i'd also say unwilling fusion, say vlad trying to force a fusion with danny would lead to the cores actively rejecting each other. the cores would just refuse to merge, almost bouncing off each other. no consent, no fusion. sticky fusion would be too parasitic otherwise- Hestia

Pleasant surprises: Part 1
Pairing- Jimin x reader
Type- Fluff, spooky, ghost!Jimin
Word count- 1,277
Warnings- Spooky things happening. Mentions of death duh
A/N-soo like…. um… i did a thing? for the good ol’ october spirit ahahahaha spirit
| Part 1 |Part 2 | Masterlist |
“BOO!” the phantom shouts mysteriously, as they jump through the wall in front of you and proceed to then accidentally fall through a table as they trip over their own feet. They lay on the floor, half stunned and half inside a table, and then they promptly crawl away in a panic, too embarrassed to try and scare you anymore. They weren’t cut out for the haunting thing, yet that’s what was destined for the poor boy. You snicker at the clumsy show in front of you and don’t hesitate to run after the ghost boy that glowed ahead of you, trying his best to take back some of his dignity.
You only recently moved into this house, and the gullible little ghost thinks he hasn’t been noticed yet, but little did he know what you’ve seen him do around the house, like randomly turn the kids channel on the TV, rearrange the books into different orders on the shelf, swap around pictures in their frames, all little things a child would do, or in this case, a ghost with no true haunting experience. A sane person would’ve moved out already in fear of their life, after all, this is a haunting, right? He thinks his cover is intact and that his tactics are working, but his hiding skills are, lets say, not up to par. However his determination to be a successful haunter made you feel pity towards him, so you never blew his cover and pretended to be surprised by the humorous events, though you could never hide your smile. But even after all that, you never expected him to actually try scaring you and you really didn’t think he would go for the classic “boo”; he must’ve been extremely desperate…
You couldn’t hold back anymore. You just had to be this cuties friend. It wasn’t hard for you to chase him down to say the least. The bathroom door was left ajar, and a chilling breeze came from inside. Carefully, you peak through the opening and quickly spot the glowey blonde haired ghost sat huddled in the bathtub with a saddened look on his face. Despite his ghostly appearance, a tinge of pink manages to show through his pale complexion on his cheeks.
“Hey!” you enthusiastically announce your presence as you step through the doorway. He flinches and stumbles back with wide eyes as he slowly fades away. “No no! Don’t dissapear! I want to talk to you! Please~” you throw your hands up in defence and cautiously creep closer to the bathtub.
“I-I’m sorry…” a meek voice speaks up somewhere in front of you.
“For what?”
“For being a nuisance… I’m not good at being a ghost.” he mumbles
“Well, you may not be good at scaring, but your cuteness has just gained you a friend. So can you please show yourself?” you smile around the room, hoping for an answer. Seconds of silence later, he appears with a single blink, still timidly huddled in the tub.
“Friend? But I’m not even alive…” he looks up at you, a strange glint in his lifeless eyes.
“What’s your name?” you try to open him up.
He pauses unsure if it was ok for him to talk to you like this. “Jimin.”
“Well Jimin, it’s nice to finally meet you in person, I’m a fan of what you do around here.” you scoot closer.
“Either I’m even worse at being a ghost than I thought, or you’re just completely mad to be talking to a dead person like this, no offence.” he mumbles under his breath and avoids your friendly stare that he wasn’t used to receiving in his ghostly existence.
“You’re not that bad; don’t be so hard on yourself. Not all ghosts have to be scary, I actually prefer that you’re like this, makes me want to stick around.” You sit yourself down onto the toilet lid, less than a metre away from Jimin who was still too timid to properly look at you.
“That’s the opposite of the purpose of being a ghost. I’m supposed to scare you away from here, and then whoever lives here next, and so on.” He pouts.
“Well, you don’t have to conform to the expectations. Why not just embrace yourself. And isn’t it easier to just… not scare people away? It seems tiring to have to do that for everyone that lives here.” You rest your chin on the palms of your hands as your elbows dig into your knees.
“But I didn’t die and become a ghost that haunts this place to welcome everyone that comes here with open arms.” He argues with a scowl.
“Then why do you haunt this place, because that doesn’t seem to be your purpose.”
“I died in this bathtub. I wasn’t discovered for days and the landlord didn’t even replace the bathtub to save on money. So I’m kinda attached to this place. But don’t worry, it’s been deep cleaned at least, and it all happened a long time ago.” His words didn’t ease you as you looked at the tub with discomfort.
“If the tub was replaced, would you be put to rest?” you spoke up.
“Dunno. I doubt it’s that easy.”
“As bad as this sounds, I don’t really want to put you to rest anyway. I like you here.”
“I don’t really want to scare you away either.” He mumbles so that you can’t quite make out what he said.
You both sit in silence for a bit and ease into each other’s presence. “Want to watch TV with me? There are some good movies on tonight. Ghosts can watch movies, right?” you begin to stand yourself up and smile down at him.
“Um… I guess. I have nothing else to do since scaring you has gone down the drain.”
“You can still try scare me whenever if you want, I don’t think you’d cause much harm anyway.”
He huffs out a laugh. “Thanks.” He says almost sarcastically.
“Oh and don’t stop that thing where you do weird stuff around the house with the objects. It’s pretty fun. What I’m basically saying is, don’t stop doing your cute ghosty stuff just because your cover is hella blown.” you explain as you walk towards the door and gesture for him to follow as he nods reluctantly and gives a meek smile.
Ironically, the movie that you both ended up watching was Casper, which only happened to be on because Halloween was just around the corner. Although he sat only a metre away from you on the sofa, the only presence he held was a cool breeze that tingled across your arm that was facing him. He sat huddled like a child in need of a blanket and watched the movie with undivided attention. You would’ve given him a blanked if it wasn’t for the fact that it probably wouldn’t make much of a difference to his body temperature.
Eventually, your eyelids began to droop deep into the night and the white glow of the TV and your new friend eased you into the darkness that surrounded you as you drifted off into nothingness.
The warm glow of sunrise gently awoke you from your sleep, and pained groans escaped your lips as you stretched your muscles that had uncomfortably rested against the cushions of the couch. Your eyes scrunched as you looked at your surroundings. The TV was turned off and there was something visibly missing, well… rather someone.
“Jimin?” you called out with a raspy voice, but the house remained still, not a sound or a single sign of life haunting. Not a single ghost in sight.
A/n- do y’all want a part 2 or?? also drop by the ask box or something and tell me what you think, i wanna know if i should do more of this kinda stuff for october if i can :)))

Eris Redesign Pt2: And Now For Something Completely Different
Okay, so remember when I said I was going to redo the design for all of my OCs?
Well, I do.
I had to take an extended break due to college and general disgust with Andromeda, so this is a long time coming, but here’s part 2 of the process. And by that I mean let me just stop working on Eris entirely and focus on Tali.
When I last left off on the process, I had finished a 4k texture for her. Now, the goal is to work on customizing the model, so I can start to capture things about her that I’ve not been able to do so before. The first part is to allow that hood of hers to come down.
It all started with a post on Reddit about the Expanded Galaxy Mod that showed Tali with her hood down:
I almost immediately decompiled the Quarian model in the hopes of recreating it for the Quarian civilian. As it turns out, the model is broken into some interesting parts.
The base model seems to be lacking a few things:
Both the hood and the shins are separate “parts.”
The pockets and main belt are on yet another part:
Finally, there’s also a physics model. If I recall, this model acts as both the hitbox and the part of the model that gives it weight in a game environment. If Gmod was still relevant, this would be vital to making a good ragdoll:
But since SFM is a thing, nah. It got deleted.
With some quick fiddling (okay, I’m skipping over a large part here where I just mashed my face against the screen until some of the model porting and compiling process was finally absorbed through osmosis, but I did this months ago and have nearly forgotten the whole thing so w/e) I grouped the hood and the pockets into bodygroups, so that they can be disabled at will.
Finally, I took a look at the hood, seeing what needed to be done to make it acceptable as a hood-down variant.
Looks kinda nice, but what about another angle?
Yeah, there’s no geometry back there at all.
I’m skipping over some stuff here, but the TL;DR is that I really such at sculpting, and all my attempts at making it look good failed miserably. The most interesting results from all of that were Eris’Takara vas Hedgehog and spiky Eris:
So, back to the drawing board.
At this point, if I wanted to go anywhere with this, I’d need to have a closer look at that EGM Tali model to see how it was done.
I downloaded and installed the mod and worked on ripping it out of the mod files. Because it was unsigned, umodel didn’t work at all, but thanks to the amazing ME3 mod tools, it wasn’t long before I had the model in Blender.
I encountered another issue when trying to get it textured. The UVs were grouped or hidden. It took some googling, but this is apparently a common issue with Mass Effect models. Thankfully, there’s an easy fix that’s literally just a button-press or two away. Once that was done, I could get a good look at her in Blender:
It looks like the geometry from the back of the default human helmet was grafted on to make it work. Which works for me!
But then I got the random idea to just go through with the full port of the model, which is something I’d never done before.
Thanks to the wondrous tutorials of PTE Jack, I was able to get most of it figured out.
At this point, it’s still exported as ‘render sharp,’ hence the blocky bits of it all. But before I fixed that, I wanted to get the eyes and glowey bits working. Through a bit of playing around, I got a selfillum layer where every line on the model geometry glowed slightly, which was neat.
I liked what it did to the eyes the most. I added some eye flexes to make the iris contract and expand, which was neat until I remembered that I could make the eyes actually be fixed to work with the modern eye shaders. Here’s the old method, with glowing eyes:
And here’s the new, reflective eye shader:
After that, I set the model to shade smooth, and re-exported it. And thanks to SFM’s amazing animation technology, the whole thing broke
I should point out that somewhere in the process, I had to rotate the animation skeleton to align with the model (it was 90 degrees off before), scale the model to the appropriate size, and added a whole bunch of new things, like a bodygroup for the visor to disable it, and using Lord Ardvark’s mask and eye materials that he used for his Tali model.
I also fixed up the other textures for the model. In the mod, this variant is treated like another skin, so you cannot get the original colors on it. It was made a little more difficult since the UV unwrapping was a little different to enable the textures on the new head geometry. With some quick photoshop, both her original, loyalty, and Alternate Appearance Pack skins were quickly added in as different skins.
The last step was a bit of a grind. Because the model doesn’t export with any face flexes, I had to go through the process of morphing the geometry into some face flexes for the eyes. But soon enough, the whole thing was done, and released onto the Steam Workshop!
Right, so what about Eris?
Well, the next step now is to do something similar with that head geometry to the Quarian civilian. After that, I want to add some animation bones to the hood so that it can be animated or posed being pulled down or up. No idea how that’s going to work out, but it’ll be fun to try out, regardless!

Lair review for @firestar-fr !!! under the cut!
I of course started with the first dragon in your lair, and that’s Crisis. He’s a lovely imp, I especially love those runes (even if they’re hard to see, the horns are lovely) and that lovely accent!! I read all his lore and I like how he became shade corrupted trying to protect a young hatchling, and then exiled himself. It shows that he’s really a selfless dragon, and is willing to put others before himself. I love that you used the shadow sprite’s goop and darkness to match the shade- it’s good that he has a companion who has the same struggles he does, so that he has support. His outfit is lovely- all gilded and gold, which adds to the whole “Paladin, knight of Justice” thing he’s got going on. And the lore sword is super cool ahhhh. that’s super badass honestly. Also- all his art is just lovely!! (though one of your images is broken?) I love him though, and I’m very proud of him for getting past his corruption
Next up is Cuda! She has lavender runes that match Crisis! That’s so cute haha. Oh, and she’s got shade touched blood in her! The origin of her shade is very different though, since she inherited it from her dad. Do she and Crisis try to work past their shade issues together? He’s got his under control, but you don’t mention whether she has any issues from it, just that she has it (and cool teleporting powers that she got from her mom.) I love that she’s a dancer, and how she has the lovely rainbow accent and the matching rainbow silks. They look so nice on her! How does she make her specters? Shade magic? Elemental magic? magic mom teleporting powers? It’s a super cool power, I’m just curious as to how she got it :0c I love her art, especially the gijinka pieces- she’s a buff dancer! I would go to see one of her dances.
I clicked onto “Josh” in her bio and oh DAMN that boy has a light sprite!!! very fancy >:0 I’m working my way to a light sprite right now and it’s a very long term goal- so impressive! And a fancy boy for this fancy sprite! I like his beautiful accent and just how well it matches his tert :0 He’s a big techno party boy, and he kinda seems like a raver with the crazy bright pink electronic patterns. What sort of stuff does he have to fight? Since he’s a DJ and Dancer, that’s not the kind of dragon who you imagine fighting- and whough he’s clearly trained in it, it makes me curious as to who or what he DOES fight :0 Man you’ve got so much lovely art in your lair- I love his gijinka art too! The lovely neon glowey eyes he’s got going on, and all the techno colors. I really love the third one too that’s so neon and full of energy! What a lovely dude. I also clicked on his mate but found that he was in another lair. I’m guessing you guys are lore buddies? That’s super cool! I love my gay (or bi) party son
Pixel caugh my eye next! And ohhh I love what you’re doing with this lovely Starfall skin :0 It’s so cool that she’s an arcane construct with missiles and how there’s a super high level android and AI maker in the lair who’s made this little family of androids. (oh, who’s mom is in a shadow lair again!! ahh lore partners are always really cool to see) Her bio is so short though, so I’m really curious about seeing more about her relationship with her family, both her siblings and her dad the constructor, especially. AIs often have pretty strong feelings towards their creator and about being created, so I’m curious as to how much personality she has (especially since she’s made of magic! that adds a lot of potential for how much autonomy she has, which is also something I’m curious about- since she’s a living weapon, does that mean that she is controlled by other forces in the clan sometimes when she needs to attack, or perhaps that she has a cold and calculating robot demeanor so hat she is always ready to attack? Or maybe she’s just a really sweet robot who can also attack really quick haha. Sorry to toss so many questions at you, but she’s really cool and I’m super curious! I’m gonna check out her family next :0
Next up is Pilot! And ohh, another sprite!! Very fancy. I love all the brass steampunk stuff he’s wearing, it’s very “talented but obsessive” inventor-y. I like that he makes music boxes- that’s very specific but in a really cool way. I also like that he got started making androids (as I’m guessing he made the son mentioned in his bio? We’ll see when I go to check him out) And how he now has these two android daughters who love and take care of their dad, which is really sweet. I’m glad that he’s the kind of guy who takes the time to repair robot dragons he finds broken down by the wayside. It’s also a really neat detail that he can’t fly, especially since he’s a spiral, and it’s hard to imagine them not flying. Does he ever get rides from his android daughters? That’d be really cute. Also, that mysterious obsidian tablet he has definitely caught my interest- even more so since you have art of it. A lore event for the future? Super cool. All his art is nice, as, well, and dang you’ve got a lot of sketches by Kaial. Very nice. Now I’m off to go see his other Daughter, the first one!
Next up- Cherry! I love using the surgestream coat to make her look even more robotic on top of cool mechanical accent. I like how the accent has a few places that are broken, it makes it seem like she’s been repaired as much as she can be by Pilot, since he’s still learning bout Androids. Maybe he’ll even be able to fix up those exposed wires someday :0 It’s also really interesting that her speech box is broken, especially since her dad is a music box maker- maybe he could replace her speech box with a music box, so she could sing? that would be super cool ahhh. I like that she’s studying how to be a mechanic herself, too. Maybe she’ll be able to make a robot children of her own some day after she and Pilot learn more about how to build androids, which would be super cool!! She’s also such a lovely triple, and in purple, too!! not really what you’d normally think of when you think Android, but I think she’s lovely!!
Next up is Oblivion! And he’s another android, just as I suspected haha. He seems to have to most advanced body of the three, as he has no visible metal or broken bits, instead just has those big and prominent circuits that are all over his obsidian hide. And he’s connected to that obsidian tablet, just like I thought! He’s a super cool AI idea, something lost to time by bad luck or a decision to destroy it, perhaps? and it also seems like something you could have a whole group of dragons based off of in the future, this collection of advanced AI who all have circuits in different colors :0c I really like that he has a body made out of both old and new tech, and I bet that helps Pilot see what else he should do in teh future as he works on more android tech, and he might be able to use the old tech on Cherry and Pixel in the future. It’s also really cool that this weapon has developed a conscious and is working on becoming a good, well rounded dragon instead of just a living weapon. They’re a good android family
Ok, last is Marshia. Her apparel caught my eye!! I love her unicorn guise a lot, and the way that it really makes her pop!!!. You can see just the tiniest bit of her mask under there, which is nice, though the smoke is probably the part of it you wanted the mask for haha. and it makes sense, she looks lovely with it! I also love that Ethereal Entourage, that’s perfect for a seer. I like that she’s blind and can instead see the future. The flowerfall is lovely, and I think the wing piece looks really nice on her, too! I think her armour is an interesting choice :0 Does she feel like she needs to defend herself at all? :0c i’d be super curious to find out why she feels like she needs it. or maybe she jsut thinks it looks good ahha. What does she do with her visions of the future? It’s really interesting for a clan to have- can she control it or does she just get random visions? there’s lots of good options for lore for a cool seer like her.
Cat????? Cat. om nom fish. mmmm munch. hehe this is actually a really cute use of an inisibility cloak, and I especially like the tasty fish familiar haha. does the cat live around the lair? that’d be cute. I just couldn’t resist click on it haha
thank you so much, and enjoy!!! :D
#flight rising#fr#lair review#lair reviews#cat was just a lil bonus haha cuse I couldnt help myself :p

Sception Plays Demon’s Souls, part 2: the Nexus
After getting killed by the tutorial demon, Sception awakes in “the Nexus”, revived by this yet unnamed eyeless firekeeper type lady. I’m already aware from various internet discussions & videos that Demon’s Souls has a separate area that you have to teleport to via bonfire/lamp/i guess archstone in this game in order to level up, Like Bloodborne’s Hunters Dream and decidedly unlike Dark Souls where you can level up, repair items, and access your storage box at any bonfire within the world itself.
In particular I’m aware that Dark Souls 2, which I haven’t played yet, gets a lot of flack for this, even though literally every other game in the series except Dark Souls did it this way. Personally I agree that the Dark Souls system, was probably better, what with avoiding loading screens taking you out of the experience, but it does strike me as unfair that DSII specifically gets a lot of hate for not measuring up to DS1 in this regard when the other games get a pass.
Anyway, yeah, this is the Nexus. Not sure where the lady went, but might as well have a look around.
The very first thing I notice is that my health has been cut in half. Yikes, that’s right, Demon’s Souls cuts your health in half when you die. I’m pretty sure it comes back when you beat a boss, not sure if there’s an item to do it or if you can get it back after a successful corpse run. On the one hand, that’s exceptionally harsh, but on the other hand it does give you an actual reason to open yourself up to invaders even when you don’t intend to summon help yourself. Not that that matters for me, since the servers have been shut down so I can’t get invaded to begin with. Oh for a Demon’s Souls remaster!
The game gives you your Dark Sign / Hunter’s Mark / Nexial Binding, to abandon souls and return to the checkpoint. I don’t think using it counts as ‘dying’, so it seems much more relevant in this game as a last ditch effort to maintain your human form with its full HP bar, where as in Dark Souls or Bloodborne there’s not much point to it since you can just die for basically the same effect.
Anyway, looking around I immediately bump into my old buddy, the Crestfallen Knight. He gets an elaborate cinematic introduction speech that I utterly fail to get a reasonable picture of, which both does a much better job of telling you exactly what you’re supposed to do next and - hopefully - establishes him as a somewhat important character who will maybe matter a bit more to the story this time around. As this guy is one of the particular ‘references to the previous game’ in Dark Souls that I mentioned last time as a reason I’ve been excited to play Demon’s Souls, I’ll try to keep a pretty close eye on him.
For now, he’s kinda bluey glowey, which might mean to imply that he’s in ghost form and has died fighting the demons? But then again I’m in ghost form and I’m not bluey glowey, so maybe not.
The other NPCs here aren’t bluey glowey either. There’s Blacksmith Baldwin - sort of a gruff blacksmith. It’s nice to have a blacksmith right off the bat, but I don’t have any upgrade materials, and don’t have the souls to grab anything from him besides a piece of healing grass.
And there’s Stockpile Thomas, who I is mournful and guilt-ridden after abandoning his family to flee the demons. Kinda shitty of him, but he’s apparently not much of a fighter, so I’m not sure what else he could have done besides die with them. Definitely sets the dark tone of the game.
There’s also this currently nameless lady despairing around the corner. She thinks the demons are a curse from god for the people not showing King Allant enough respect. Considering the plot narrator at the start of the game already told me King Allant is personally responsible for this mess, she’s on track for a bit of a rude awakening later on, assuming she’s an actual character and more than just window dressing.
There’s also a bunch of dev notes on the floor awkwardly info dumping whatever the tutorial failed to teach you.
“Archstone of the Small King” is I guess the warp to the first level proper.
There are four other Archstones, and one broken one, but they’re not accessible yet. I thought you could do the Demon’s souls levels in any order? Maybe there’s an intended intro stage and the rest open up after that.
Actually, I can’t find the... I don’t know what to call her, the firekeeper lady either. I assume you have to talk to her to level up? Hrm.
Heading upstairs there’s an impressive view of the giant statue that overlooks the rest of the Nexus, but no other characters or anything. Not much else to see or do for now, so I guess it’s off to the “Archstone of the Small King.”
