The other day, I went to get myself new glasses because I hate the look of my current ones, and they always test your eyes beforehand. So, I went into the store I got my last glasses at.

My last eye test was 2021 so it’s been a while, and those of you who wear glasses probably know that they tell you that, ‘Oh, it’s been a very long time since you were last here. It’s about time you get your eyes checked.’

Anyway. I sit down on the chair, read those stupidly small letters while this nice lady tries out different glasses (you know, to see how strong they need to be), and once we’re done she goes, “Okay, so… did you even see anything with your old glasses?” And that’s never a good sign.

I have to admit that I actually didn’t see that much, but enough to kind of make out stuff in the distance, so I thought it was enough. I told her that, she was like, “Yeah, but now it’s time for new glasses,” and we went back downstairs to look at some options.

I did find a nice pair, but while she was getting it fitted for me, she went, “With these new glasses your vision’s back to 100%. With the old ones it was more than 20% worse.” And I was SHOOKETH because my eyes got a lot worse than I thought, which I kind of knew but I didn’t want to believe it. But she wasn’t having any of it and gave me a reality check, so now I’m waiting for my new glasses and hopefully my eyes will remain this bad for a little while longer without getting worse or I’ll be broke and blind.

I can’t believe I was driving A CAR with around 70% vision SHORT-SIGHTED and still managed to stay safe. Blows my mind. Anyway, go get your eyes checked regularly, guys. It’s important!
