PSA TIME
"luffy is ace its canon"
"nami is a lesbian its canon"
"zoro is gay its canon"
just a refresher for those of y'all who use whatever words you want without knowing their actual meaning, canon means 'its explicitly stated in the source material', and NOT 'i think it's true and it's implied'.
none of the above things are canon. those are called 'headcanons' and we're still allowed to have those without pretending we're 100% right all the time. and attacking other people over headcanons is stupid as fuck, and you're actually a douchebag if you do that. thanks!
#opla#i see the opla tag has some real 'how dare you piss on the poor' reading comprehension going on but#don't get mad at people for not having the same headcanon as you#and don't try to pretend it's canon either just bc you want it to be#oda has not given any of the straw hats any canon sexuality or relationships#so stop fucking getting mad at people for having ships you disagree with#simply bc you dont know the actual meaning of the word 'canon'#fandom wank

I just saw the worst takes about bnha’s ending on Instagram (three days ago now, as of posting this). So, today we’re gonna talk about Izuocha, shonen homoeroticism, and fandom… not in that order though…
I: Fandom
Fandom culture for all media has basically always been a war zone that you have to actively avoid, usually with two defining sides: people who try to enjoy media the way they want to enjoy it, and the people who say that everyone is wrong and attack others who they don’t agree with. There are shades of gray on both sides, but in general this is usually the case. It’s never been “‘alphabet mafia’ vs ‘normal’” or “fanon vs canon” or “right vs wrong”… I almost always see people having fun being attacked unwarranted (I am not saying that people being legitimately problematic shouldn’t be called out, pls don’t get me wrong. I’m talking about innocent fun!). And I’m not just talking about dudebros attacking shippers, I’ve seen a lot of shippers attack non-shippers/other shippers of a different ship, and it’s almost always people just saying “you’re wrong, I’m right, and your take ruins this media piece of media for everyone else.” That being said, I wanna talk about the highlighted parts of these comments, okay? But first I need to explain the video that these comments were on.
It was a video by @/d_rich7 on Instagram, a big anime creator, talking about this tweet:
To summarize the video, he went on to say that he’s not surprised because bnha has the worst shipping community since Naruto and how Horikoshi probably felt forced into not confirming any ships because of “threats and hate mail” that he got from his fandom. I’ll come back to that but first I’ll talk about some of the comments:
“At least, they can say they weren’t the reason for the downfall of their anime.”
I've seen this take from different parts of the fandom, whether it was in regard to ships, todofam, or the villains. Just because the narrative of a story ends up matching the theories of people you disagree with, doesn't mean the story is going through a downfall. Just accept that you were wrong and move on. It is okay to not like certain aspects of the story and it's okay to discuss and criticize it, but pinning the blame on people who just happened to be right, no matter how much you hate it, is not okay.
“People need to stop demanding the literal CREATOR of a series to do things how they want it done…They to learn it’s not their story to tell…”
“…like I don’t get how people who have no impact on the writing of a story get mad because the CREATORS don’t wanna use their personal ideas.”
“…from now on imma blame the fandom for fucking up the anime/manga, we could’ve had a better ending if it wasn’t for them…”
Outside of the context, I actually agree with the sentiment that fans shouldn't feel so entitled that they think they have any control over the media they're consuming. But, the commenters don't realize that they're doing the exact thing that they’re talking about. They're convinced that the queer shipping community is the reason the creator decided not to confirm any relationship and are pissed off that the ship they were rooting for, didn't happen. Why are they exempt from this rule? Because straight ships are supposed to happen and queer ships aren't? Because the boy is supposed to win the girl at the end in order to develop a good shonen? I'll go into the misogynistic implications of that later.
Other than that, I have seen a lot of people on tumblr get mad about other things, like before, regarding to the villains and todofam drama to the point that they started insulting Hori. Like I said, it's okay to be mad. Being mad about something doesn't make you a bad person but it was never our story to tell. Criticism and hate, are two different things and come off very differently.
“MHA’s fandom is filled to the brim with toxic, no shower taking, furry loving, lgbtq idiots…”
Honestly I added this one because he's right. We're here, we're queer, and we're idiots in the best way possible. However, I think this also says the quiet part out loud when it comes to the hatred towards bnha and it's fandom.
Shipping communities in other fandoms don't get anywhere near as harassed as often as the shipping communities in the bnha fandom despite not being much different. The difference is, a lot of us identify as and are recognized as queer and Hori himself even recognized that the LGBT community especially took a liking to his manga. But, in other fandoms, it's only okay to consider queer ships if they're recognized by the cishet audience.
Most people in the aot fandom don't have an issue with eremin because it was something recognized and memed by straight men, even if it was mostly as a joke. The kny fandom doesn't care about inotan because it was also recognized and memed by straight men. Narusasu doesn't get much hate anymore because the straight men of their fandom also started to recognize the characters weird obsession with each other and it became more difficult to ignore the ship since there was literally multiple accidental kiss scenes--one of the few times where the source material actively encourages shipping. I can keep going too.
On the opposite end of the spectrum, non-shonen animes with majority cishet women as their audience, no one bats an eye at their ships either, because there's not enough men in their communities to tell them they should feel ashamed for their fanon content and their words hold no weight… and there’s a lot less queer people in those fandoms. You see the trend, right? It's almost like queer shipping is perfectly okay and mostly accepted as long as the community is either majority cishet men, or those men grant permission/approval for the specific ships or the piece of media wasn’t “meant for men.” Otherwise, it's seen as gross and cringe.
There was one other community that was kind of similar to bnha in a sense that it was mostly consumed by queer people and cishet men, where there was a lot of discourse on whether the two main characters were queer or not… which is the Buddy Daddies fandom. When the show was airing, those two sides that I talked about earlier were pretty apparent, with people having heated arguments about whether there were queer undertones or not. The cishet men of the fandom didn't give their approval to ship Rei and Kazuki, so it became an issue. Same with JJK now, more so with itafushi though. SatoSugu was given a somewhat stamp of approval but itafushi is still seen as taboo.
However, for some reason, every queer ship and character (even if it's canon) in bnha is seen as something shameful to recognize which I think is very telling considering how large the queer and disabled part of the fandom is. Minorities are being punished for relating to a manga with discrimination as one of it's core themes. Do what you want with that...
“…hate-mail just pushed him over the edge so he just scrapped everything just as punishment to spite them…”
This kind of references rumors from a few years ago about the shipping community sending hate mail and death threats towards Horikoshi and everyone just running with it without doing their research.
Horikoshi did receive death threats but it was about Dr.Garaki's original name which you can read about here. It was mostly the eastern side of the fandom being aggressive, even going as far as posting videos of them burning the volume where Garaki's name was revealed which isn't okay. However, everyone blamed it on the western shipping community... for whatever reason...
There was another instance where people in the western fandom started sending Horikoshi death threats on his twitter because of a chapter about Endeavor getting attacked by Dabi and an Nomu and the Todo family being worried about him, people claiming that Hori "deserved to die" for romanticizing and glorifying abuse (when that wasn't at all the case, I'm genuinely confused on how they interpreted that...). This came out six years ago but somehow is still narrowed down to the queer community and women being toxic... like what? Do you see my point now of it feeling like we need to be granted permission to do certain things in fandom if we don't want to be punished?
Also who was Hori punishing by not confirming any ships? If anything, I’ve seen most shippers appreciative than not…
II: Ochako Uraraka and her relationship with Izuku Midoriya
Back to that point about misogyny that I mentioned earlier...
"...I would have lowkey wish we got to see deku and ochaco end up together since their relationship was hinted from the beginning..."
Quick warning... this is gonna be a long point.
Yes, they were attracted to each other at the beginning, no one is denying that. No one is denying Ochako’s crush either. Izuku’s nervous around her for the first like 50-ish chapters because he's still used to having friends (especially a girl. If you think about it, if his childhood friends were the only friends he had ever had before getting shunned by his community, then he had never had a girl as a friend before... ever) but their relationship eventually mellows out into a normal friendship. Given Ochako and Toga's arc, I don't think Izuocha was ever destined to end romantically.
Toga was desperate to be loved by someone who accepted her for who she was while Ochako was desperate to be able to show love to someone who she truly admired. Ochako wanted to be like Deku and tried for a while until she realized that she couldn’t and shouldn’t want to be like Deku. She thinks he’s amazing but she realizes that she can’t strive to be like him because she’s already like him but wants to change.
(this is kind of off topic but I just want to point out what Ochako said about Toga being sad about not being able to totally become Jin. Correct me if I'm remembering wrong but, Toga was only able to ever transform into Ochako completely, quirk and all. I think there's an analogy there, where her being able to be just like someone possibly means she's in love with them but she convinces herself that she loves everyone equally. I think it's supposed to be saying that "even though you can't be him completely, doesn't mean you don't love him, you just don't love him in the way you thought you did" and I think Ochako realizes that because she possibly had the same realization with Izuku. Becoming him didn't work out for her because she didn't love him the way others told her she did... I guess it wasn't off topic... oh well.)
The highlighted parts can apply to Ochako too if you replace “bloodlust” with “envy”. She suffered the same issue that Toga did with other people telling her how and who to love which made her feel like she was supposed to be jealous.
She didn't like these feelings of jealousy, so she began to unintentionally be like Deku and hide them. I don't think she ever had an issue with loving Deku but she had an issue with the way she convinced herself of how she loved Deku made her feel. It made her feel like she was hiding something because I think she felt conflicted for not loving him the way everyone expected her to. All the way up to her final fight with Toga, we were only getting intel about her crush from other characters. Not her.
There's a lot of Mina just telling her what her feelings are despite Mina canonically not knowing much about love. Her crush has always been projected onto her which is why she's able to relate to Toga so well and wants to be more like her since Toga is able to live as herself so comfortably and broke away from conformity and what's expected of her.
Ochako's crush is only there because it's expected to be and her arc is meant to prove that she can be more than just the MCs love interest. Ochako's projected crush is Horikoshi trying to prove a point about basic shonen tropes which he's done time and time again throughout the story. SHE WANTS TO LIVE AND LOVE HOW SHE PLEASES WITHOUT SOCIETY TELLING HER HOW TO JUST LIKE TOGA WAS ABLE TO DO! I WILL KEEP SAYING IT UNTIL MY THROAT IS RAW AND DUDEBROS BEGIN TO FINALLY UNDERSTAND AND NOT VIEW FEMALE CHARACTERS AS NOTHING MORE THAN EYE CANDY FOR THE MALE CHARACTERS!!!
In the epilogue. she hides her feelings with a smile because she doesn't want to worry anyone (sound familiar?) so it only makes sense that it was Deku who pushed her to let out her feelings despite not practicing what he preaches. So, she embraced her inner Himiko and let out her feelings with her whole face. Those feeling just weren't for Deku... and they shouldn't have to be.
I genuinely feel like (especially with the way dudebros hate queer ships in this fandom) if Ochako was a boy, her arc wouldn't have been so widely misinterpreted. Because if he had talked about how amazing Izuku was and Mina came in and still said "It's love!" most fans would've taken it as a joke and/or even going as far as pointing out that the crush wasn't real because he didn't actually admit to it and it was projected onto him by other characters. But, the world ain't ready for that conversation.
"...I saw it as the fandom tryn to force their ships into the story 100% ruining key moments..."
I mainly added this quote because I thought it was so absurd. How do you see class-a coming to support Ochako as "omg it's the fandom forcing their agenda and controlling Hori through mind control to force their ships into the story and ruin this key moment,"??? Like, is it really so unthinkable that Horikoshi can have creative freedom outside the norm of treating girl characters as a trophy for the MC? You expected Izuku to marry her on the spot while she's having a mental breakdown? It's just... anyways...
III: Old-Gen Shonen Homoeroticism and it's Relation with Internalized Misogyny and how New-Gen is Changing That
The Shonen genre - especially old gen - is notorious for it's accidental misogyny, queerphobia, and racism. It got to the point where it's just kind of expected at this point.
The main one is usually misogyny. A lot of shonen mangaka like to write women as nothing more than eye candy and when they are actually given a personality and power, their character arcs are suddenly ignored/neglected and turned back into eye candy. Take Tsunade and Nezuko for example. We're told that they're important and powerful and yet they rarely do anything and almost never get important speaking lines and when we get to see them in action, the author makes sure to highlight certain parts of their bodies. Nezuko I think is an especially obvious one, being literally muzzled for most of the story, and when she powers up, she grows up and is suddenly given huge boobs...
Almost every shonen girls' character arcs revolves around a man and if not, then their existence is for the sake of a male character. I will say, I havent watched much shonen because of this aspect that's always apparent, but almost every older shonen I've watched, read, or seen other people talk about, it rears its ugly head at least once.
Because of that, most love interests weren’t given enough personality to actually form a meaningful relationship with the MC that the audience - especially female and queer audiences - can connect to. More often than not, it’s “I like her cuz she’s pretty” or “I like her cuz she likes me” and it’s irritating. And since these relationships are so shallow, authors are forced to create an interesting bond between the MC and a different character which usually ends up being the deuteragonist who is usually another boy more often than not. And boys in media written “for boys” are almost never neglected the way a girl would be, which is a sad truth.
These relationships almost always end up feeling like they’re passed the point of friendship and because of that, a lot of women and queer people end up shipping them instead of the canon love interest. Because their relationship being romantic actually makes sense most of the time.
BakuDeku, Eremin, KilluaGon, NaruSasu, ItaFushi, SatoSugu, IsaBachi, HideKan, GenoSai, LawLight, the list can go on for fucking ever.
However, in bnha and BakuDeku’s case, especially when the “canon” relationship with the “canon” love interest wasn’t really developed at all, and we never got a hint from Deku that he liked her, I don’t think this homoeroticism wasn’t intentional. Like with a lot of new-gen, there wasn’t really blatant misogyny towards the “love interest” present to explain away the closeness between the two male leads.
All of the roles a love interest would usually have, were given to Katsuki. He was damseled for Deku to save, he was Deku’s biggest cheerleader, he risked his life to save Deku, he died in Izuku’s honor, he showed up for Izuku when no one else thought to, he showed up to his hospital room and cried over the condition he was in, and then he devoted nearly a decade of his life trying to bring Izuku’s dream back into fruition… He cares so fucking much and Izuku cares right back. And no one can convince me that it was accidentally gay, because Horikoshi literally felt the need to tell AND remind us that Katsuki doesn’t like girls. Plus, like I said before, all of that was done without neglecting Uraraka’s character arc.
But even though all of that is in text, I think shonen bros just expect it while also expecting the main girl and boy to be together… because that’s how it always used to be. It wasn’t until new-gen - starting with mha - started to purposely parody dated shonen tropes and twisting them into their own stories that shonen bros began to feel threatened by queer ships. Because they know that there’s actually a chance of them happening now, and I feel like IzuOcha not being canonized is the beginning of a new trend. And misogynistic anime fans already hate it.
Conclusion - TLDR
uh idk what to say here.
In conclusion, fandom culture kinda sucks because of unexpected reasons, Ochako’s character arc is ignored for the sake of men wanting her to be Izuku’s prize and it’s irritating as fuck, and I think previously accidental homoeroticism in old-gen shonen is becoming purposeful in new-gen shonen as new-gen slowly becomes more progressive and less misogynistic. Oh and bkdk canon ig (I don’t think I’ve ever said that before, strangely enough…)
#also I’m not saying anyone is a bad person for shipping izuocha#but if you’re seething over the fact that they didn’t become canon then you’re no better than the other shippers you talk shit about#it’s not your story to tell#bakudeku#bnha#bkdk#bakugou katsuki#midoriya izuku#togaocha#togachako#toga himiko#uraraka ochako#puff speaks#bnha meta#fandom critical#bnha spoilers#this is really just a rant/ramble#ignore me#long post

*Sigh* Wednesday is trending again, which means that the kiddos out there are gonna start drama again. Please just stop; this is one of the reason why the show was called cringe a year ago and people left the fandom.
1- You have the right to ship Wyler et Wavier. This is your opinion, your preference and I respect it. So why, mainly Wavier shippers, are suddenly back at attacking Wenclair shippers for no reason at all on Tumblr, Twitter and basically every single social media? What are you, 12? Is this hard to respect people's opinions???
2- Stop shipping Jenna and Emma. I'm almost certain this is the reason why we can't tag Emma on Instagram anymore. Ever since the Chappell Roan videos got out, a lot of people have made weird comments saying that they kissed or that they were on a date. Just stop. Stop shipping real people, or do it but silently. All of this is making them very uncomfortable and it's just direspectful to assume things like that. We just got them back, don't make Jenna delete Instagram again and make Emma disappear from it once again.
This just needed to be said. Just be respectful, it's not that fucking hard, goddamit. And when I mean respectful, I mean towards the fans AND the actors. Don't make Wednesday cringe again. Stop being kids and attacking other fans for absolutely no reason because you can't accept the fact that they don't ship your ship. And stop using the fucking Wenclair hashtag to say trash about them, this is getting annoying.
This is also addressed to, like me, Wenclair shippers. You should respect Wyler and Wavier shippers as well; don't give the bad example. Everyone is free to ship the characters they want, and this without any drama or violence. Just be kind to each others, it's not that hard.
Thank you for reading this. If you disagree, then just shut the fuck up because I don't have time to lose arguing with immature people on social media. I'm writing this as a reminder to respect Jenna and Emma and the fans, that's all. Y'all seriously needed a reminder.
Also, don't make Tumblr toxic. I already left Instagram and Twitter because people in here are the most toxic ever, I always loved Tumblr because people were nice, but for a week mad Wavier shippers started posting and insulting which is extremely annoying. Oh, and I also had to turn off my anonymous asks because I got very weird questions from probably bots. Don't make this app bad too, it's basically the only good one left with Pinterest.
I suppose that's all. Goodnight. And don't fucking come at me for saying this, because everything I said in here is true and I am just trying to remind people to be nice, not cause any more drama. If you say something mean here, you will be blocked immediately because, as I said, I don't have time to lose arguing with kids who can't respect an opinion.
Goodnight 🤍☮️

The izcourse continues...
When did people stop saying 'in my opinion'? because lord above would that simple phrase have stopped me getting so mad this morning.
I have no interest in reblogging the posts and starting drama, but some izzy takes I've seen this morning have made me want to chew through rawhide, and here's my opinion on why these 'factual statements' are wrong.
Izzy fans shouldn't be upset by his death because he's not a main character, he is a plot device to further the story of the main characters.
I'm a professional writer btw and to me a 'plot device' character is the barista who's in one scene. To me, if a named character with backstory and complicated interpersonal history with one or more main characters is just 'a plot device' - that's a waste of a character and shitty writing. I don't think ofmd is shittily written so this annoys me on two levels - disrespecting the show, and the character. Because in my view if Izzy is 'just a plot device' that's someone insulting the show.
2. Izzy was an antagonist and antagonists can only ever be redeemed and then die, or become a villain.
Not even true of ofmd and certainly not of media in general, yet stated as fact with nothing to back it up. This is NOT an opinion btw - you only have to look at Zheng and Jackie to know it's not true within the context of the show.
Jackie dobs Stede in to the British just as much as Izzy does, and she threatens them with vengeance again over the indigo - does she die? Does she become a villain? No, she's a guest at the lupete wedding for fuck sake.
Zheng insults Ed and attempts to kill Stede, two things Izzy was vilified for, gosh it was so sad when she died in the finale wasn't it? Oh no wait, she became their ally and sailed away on The Revenge!
'Have to die or become villains' is just...incomprehensible to me. The only way I can see it working in someone's head is if they think character like Jackie and Zheng did nothing wrong, when Izzy was evil, for doing the same things - albeit for more personally passionate reasons.
3. Izzy telling Ed that the ship's atmosphere was poison because of 'his feelings for Stede' was Izzy 'blaming Ed's actions on love again, just like he did in s1.e10 because Izzy is just one-note evil and only ever has that one thing to say.
To me, s1 Izzy is absolutely thrilled to have managed to bait Ed to anger, to have brought this out of him. He thinks he knows what he's just unleashed, but as we soon discover, he has no idea - because Ed had never cut off one of his extremities before. He poked the bear, but the bear was actually a fucking kraken.
s2 Izzy, in my opinion, looking at his expression above, is sad, resigned, he is saying Stede's name (which it's already established even obliquely mentioning him is a BAD IDEA with the whole 'talk it through' thing, after which Izzy sounds panicked) but he is specifically trying to make Ed see that he is not himself - that what he is doing to the crew is toxic.
Just because he's essentially saying 'This isn't you' in both scenes, doesn't mean the tone or the meaning of those scenes is the same. One scene ends with Izzy gleeful, victorious. One ends with him screaming on the deck, bleeding out.
I am happy for people to have these opinions, and for me to vehemently disagree with them, but they ARE opinions. And Izzy 'fans' or you know, people who see the show differently to you, are not stupid, racist, immature or whatever else you want to call us.
We just have a different opinion. If you're going to share your opinion, great! But it's still just your opinion.

Jade gaslighting anon here, sorry if I sounded offended. Gaslighting is a very specific type of abuse that I went through for a very long time and while Jade is very toxic and problematic, he is not a gaslighter so it bothers me when people slap that on as a catch-all for all manipulative characters. Again, sorry if I sounded angry or offended.
Anon, I heard you. And I am sincerely sorry that you went through some very bad stuff in your life.
However. I want to say something and I am not going to mince my words this time because I need to make one thing clear.
Here is TLDR if you don’t want to read the whole post: No offence, but I can’t keep in mind everyone’s trauma, I don’t think Rook is a gaslighter, we will continue to post content about Jade being one.
I disagree with you on Jade not being a gaslighter and Rook being one. I don't think that this is the case, in fact, I think the opposite is true. But we are not going to have a character discussion right now because this clearly isn't the point of the situation that’s happening here. Based on what you’re saying, your opinion is influenced by your past experiences. Which isn’t a bad thing, we all have our own biases, but it makes a proper discussion quite difficult, especially when there is trauma involved.
Here is the thing. I know what gaslighting is. I myself was also a victim of gaslighting, believe it or not. I was in a very bad place for a lot of years, and some of the events from that time affect me to this day. There are a lot of things that trigger me, ruin my mood, make me panic, in fact, all of us have those things to some degree. And all of us have content that is deeply upsetting, even if it’s not related to one’s past trauma. But that doesn’t justify asking people on the internet to stop talking about characters a certain way or reading them a certain way. How is it different than people asking us not to post Shroudcest or not to talk about them in as a romantic ship? There might be people who don’t just use it as an excuse, but are actually getting triggered by me drawing these two, so what should I do about it? Obey every single one of those people? Then it’s just easier not to post anything about any character.
Unfortunate as it is, I cannot take care of all of you: it's impossible. You have to take care of yourself. Mute the word, avoid our posts about Jade, whatever feels more suitable. Because we are not going to rewrite the way we view certain characters because of someone else’s bad associations or even just different reading of the said character, it just isn't fair to ask that of someone. You didn’t say “you know, I personally don’t think that Jade is this way, because of this, this and this”. This isn’t how you approached this; you were upset about the fact that I made Jade into a gaslighter instead of making Rook one, and this is clearly your bias. Which is, once again, not a bad thing in itself, it’s just that I still have no idea what exactly you wanted me to do. Even if Rook reminds you of someone from your past, even if Jade is your comfort character, I can’t take those things into account about every single one of our followers, so why should I do it for you? This wouldn’t be fair to the rest of the people here, right?
We are all entitled to our own opinions and feelings, and I wouldn’t dare to argue with you about it anywhere else: this topic is clearly hurting you; so arguing about it would just be mean and uncalled for. But this is our blog, our space and our territory; and we are going to talk about the characters in the way that we want. Especially when this is a hc post, for fuck’s sake.
You didn’t sound offended or mad, you sounded upset. And I might also sound upset, but I actually am a little mad because if you are the person I think you are, I am a bit disappointed by you saying this to me via Anon.
Please understand. I am being this strict because I feel like I need to remind you about certain boundaries that I don’t want to get violated.
Having bad associations and getting triggered by a character is a horrible thing, and as someone who had to rewatch a bunch of stuff to get new fond memories of quite a lot of characters, I understand that, believe it or not. I actually had to rewatch a lot of shit to get to love some characters again. And it was my fight to fight that Katsu was kind enough to help me with because Katsu is my partner who wanted me to get better: I am a part of Katsu’s life, that’s why Katsu listened patiently when I was mad at a character that had nothing to do with the thing I was actually mad about.
My point is that we have our own circumstances, and you have no idea how bad of a timing this whole shit is. You don’t know what kind of life we live and what we go through right now, and, to put it mildly, it’s not the best, so we’re really not in the mood.
So please. Take care of yourself and just ignore shit that you don’t like because while it might be traumatic for you, to us it might be one of the few things that bring us happiness.

Why do you think Imogen/Laudna is not comparable to Caleb/Veth? At the start of C3, I thought they were similar and thought it was a strange how much Imogen/Laudna was being held up as the pinnacle of relationships in comparison to the hate/minimization that Caleb/Veth got. But I rewatched C2E27 and remembered how honestly they talked through their disagreement, which was way different from Imogen/Laudna's C3E27 reconciliation after the gnarlrock drama. What are your thoughts about it?
(got another anon on this as well as I was writing this up, so other anon, this is also for you!)
That's exactly the same moment I was thinking of! Veth and Caleb are able to disagree with each other in a way Imogen and Laudna aren't. Honestly, even from earlier, they're able to ask things of each other - Caleb outright asks Nott if she'll run away with him, alone, away from the group, if his reveal to Beau goes badly. Nott, even when half the party is missing, in the wake of Molly's death, when all she has is Beau (who she's known for a month and a half) and two allies she's known for a couple of days at most, is able to say "Wrong." to Caleb about something as important, but also as unnecessary as admitting that he cares about the other party members as friends, not just useful alliances. And that's the other thing - Nott is actively encouraging Caleb to make other connections and embracing her own new friendships, and she's willing to risk Caleb being mad with her - which for her, means risking her chance to get back her own body and life - to do it. And this is after less than a year of knowing him.
Laudna can't even say "will you promise not to side with the person who murdered me," let alone point out that Otohan also murdered Fearne, Orym, Eshteross, and Orym's husband and father-in law or that Ludinus casually destroyed Kadija's mind. She can't say this to someone she's lived and traveled with for two years, when the other five party members would all agree with her and stand by her. There's no trust. You know the phrase "if you love someone, let them go?" Laudna's too terrified to let go, and Veth isn't.
(I should note - I like Caleb and Veth's dynamic a lot but I never shipped them; but I also will defend them against anyone who denies that there were feelings, or who tries to pretend that Veth's statement that Caleb was like a son to her overrides her later statements about having a crush, or, you know, the fact that they aren't actually related so who the fuck cares. I mean, Vex and Keyleth canonically tell each other they consider each other sisters and that never stopped anyone. So this does come from a place of not shipping either of these pairs.)
So this is why "Imogen and Laudna were never given choices" statement is so hollow and meaningless. Because they're rendering themselves powerless and stripping themselves of all choices. They can't draw boundaries. (For what it's worth, Campaign 1's codependent pair, the twins, are able to draw boundaries without issue; Vax tells Vex to lay off Keyleth quite explicitly despite having only recently agonized over being separated from her for a few days). They can't choose themselves. They can't challenge each other or encourage each other's growth or ask something so important and yet so small as being honest with one's self. They're just so stuck in this holding pattern, even after they've grown in power and seen the possibility of losing each other, whereas Caleb and Veth's relationship constantly changes as they support and challenge each other and ask things of each other. You know what Veth does in episode 48 of that campaign? She screams at Caleb in anger because people connected to him hurt her family, even though Caleb has long since left those people and was a victim himself. Laudna can't even stand up for herself to Imogen (and we know Laudna can stand up for herself; that's what she's doing in the scene with Ashton) against her own murderer, even as Imogen outright entertains the possibility of allying with the Vanguard.
Caleb and Veth trust each other and themselves to still love and care for each other if they disagree. Laudna and Imogen do not.

MK ship dynamic hcs continued with marcjake!
They start out with a lot of animosity when meeting. Marc has a lot of trepidation and deep seated fears and judgements about there being parts he didn’t know about, about not being as “in control” as he thought he was, and Jake has his own frustrations about how things in the past have been handled, and the things him and Marc disagree on when it comes to their shared wellbeing. The overlap of those feelings causes a lot of friction, and a lot more arguments during the immediate time post Jake reveal
They’re two guys used to bottling up their emotions, to focusing on an end goal and not including themself in the forefront of that, and that means communication is a bitch
Steven tries his best to get in the middle of them, but there’s still several months of headaches, and days full of shouting in their head, and people not being around when they need to be. It’s tough
Jake is the one that ends up breaking the tension. Him and Marc are butting heads again, over something small that’s grown into something larger, and Jake snaps at him. “You’re not fucking alone in this, Spector.”
Marc quiets for a moment. “What do you mean?”
“I mean you aren’t the only one that’s gone through this shit. I was there too. I pulled our ass out of that house, I pulled our ass out of the military when you were running straight into fire, and I pulled our ass out of Cairo. It’s not just you. It never has been. So I get it, yeah? It can really suck, to have to keep going, to have to cover yourself up, to keep track of everything, but you get over it and get in line. I’ve had to.”
It’s not really the way he meant to say it, but once it’s out there’s no going back. Marc slips away, leaving a ruffling of anger and something heavy right beneath their sternum, and Jake throws his hands up and gets back to whatever they were doing
It’s over the next week that the interaction really settles in
It changes something for Marc, in how he sees Jake. He can’t unhear what was said, can’t shake the tactile push of Jake’s words. It was so fucking familiar, the feelings in them, and he—Dammit
Steven talked once, about recognition of the self through the other, but this… Marc doesn’t want this. This isn’t what it’s supposed to be like
It’s hard not to notice, afterwards, the way Jake doesn’t snap at him for why he’s doing something, but what he’s doing as a result (like he knows, like he’s been through this himself)
It’s hard not to notice the way his presence is always felt with a heaviness in their hands and around their shoulders, an ache in the joints, making everything feel more worn
It’s hard not to notice that when he’s mad he hasn’t been listened to, mad that he’s been alone, that he knows why it happened
It’s a terrible thing, for Marc to realize how alike they are
It makes it hard to hold onto his anger. Instead of an obstacle, and enemy, a Someone to shove away so the world can be simpler, Jake becomes a synchronized step, old footprints Marc knows the rhythm to
He’s pissed about it anyway, though
Jake doesn’t comment, when Marc stops pushing back and trying to draw answers out of him, and just hovers. Just watches
Jake’s in the flat one night after being out serving Khonshu, sitting in their kitchen with his gloved knuckles pressed into a small bowl of ice, when Marc settles forward. Their neck tingles and the world blurs a bit, and Jake hisses when Marc helps register more of the pain
“Can you go?” Jake asks through gritted teeth.
“You’re doing it wrong.”
“No, I’m not.”
“Why are you still wearing gloves?”
“Ice burn isn’t great, Spector.” And cold, bloody, wetness is one of the last things Jake wants to subject his fingers to
There’s something like a sigh and then the world thins as Marc pushes through him, shouldering Jake to the side. He lets him, too tired to push back
Marc stares for a moment after the switch, and then peels off the gloves, wincing at the tug on their badly split knuckles. “Clean first,” he mutters. “Then ice.”
He takes them to the bathroom and rinses their hands, working gentler than he usually does. Maybe because he thinks Jake will snip at him if he’s too rough, or maybe just because he’s always been better at being careful with others than himself
Marc does the alcohol rub too, the little strips of gauze, the band aids. Then he swipes a dishcloth from the kitchen and a bag of peas from the freezer, and settles on the couch, coolness seeping over their fingertips
“Thanks.”
“Yeah.”
Together they stare up at the ceiling, a bitter acceptance settling deep and hesitant somewhere in the quiet
They don’t end up talking much more, after that. Not in full Words and Voice conversations, at least
When they do it’s usually from the fallout of something building, from the difficulty of Working through feelings, or knowing How to
They continue to get frustrated, continue to miss the mark on assumptions and bottle things up.
Marc fronts for most of a mission for Khonshu once, when they’ve been dosed with some toxin that throws their brain out of wack, and Jake simmers angrily for a week before Marc realizes it was his recklessness got Jake pissed
In turn, Marc constantly gets annoyed at Jake’s clothes being left around the flat or his shoes tracking dirt in the door, and it bursts into a rather long trail of back and forth notes in their phone about how to share their space and what their cleanliness boundaries are
Keeping up Work and Home and Hobbies and Moon Knight is a lot. Jake is busy, Marc is busy, Steven is busy, and collectively they are tired, so clear talking doesn’t happen all the time. But…
There’s another aspect to what settles that’s… different
Sometimes the lack of Words isn’t the silent treatment, or a volcano building pressure. Sometimes it’s just… that they don’t need to
Jake gets when Marc is tense and snappy the morning after a nightmare. Marc knows what it’s like to crash after a bad mission and to wake up with their body sore and hardly wanting to move. They both know what it’s like to stare at the numbers on their phone and wish it felt good to call them
They get each other, as much as Marc may loathe to admit it at first. They both understand what it’s like to lose themselves in protecting others, to squirrel feelings away where they won’t hurt, to hide. It’s something different than they can get with other people or with Steven. Not better, just different
They both try to say the quiet part through actions, to Show whatever kind of appreciation has grown instead of Admitting it. They do little things, passively, with the other in mind. Just because they know better, of course, or because it makes their life easier. It doesn’t mean much in the big scheme, really
Jake begins casually checking that Marc eats a varied diet, that he’s getting himself good food and not sacrificing flavor for efficiency (or allowing Steven to snack without getting any actual meals in). That shifts into getting him to get fancy takeout now and then (whether by Jake ordering it himself or by Marc finding a menu and a number left on the counter), to allow Marc little pleasures that are his and to find enjoyment without being afraid
Marc does his own little upkeep. When he’s annoyed at clothes being left around, he folds them, and at some point it becomes a relaxing routine instead of a pointed move. He sets Jake’s shoes by the door, and puts the coffee pot on when he feels the slow, slushy shift of him coming towards front after a night of something tiring. Marc gets the car washed, and dusts the vents, and swaps out the air freshener when it goes stale, and buys new pocket tissues.
They never discuss it beyond passing comments (“Is this the right place?” “Best on the South Side.” or “You wrinkled my tie, Marc.”). Discussing it would be too far. Discussing it would be something different.
In times they meet in headspace, when Jake emerges from his locked up corners of the inner world, they mostly do things in parallel play
Jake fiddles with the old cab he has in there, the one that always needs some kind of repairs, and Marc will sit quietly and pretend he’s not flipping through old NASA magazines they still have memorized from childhood
Jake strikes up a conversation about that once. (“You still into space?” “You still into driving?” Jake laughs loud and Marc cracks a grin. He’s tugged forward to a Mars exhibit at Steven’s old work a few days later)
The arguments that pop up get shorter. The miscommunication gets a bit better. The flames lull to embers, and it takes both of them time to admit that means there’s warmth there now
Wasn’t it meant to be rotten work? All of this. Especially to the other, especially if it was them.
Because it isn’t
Marc thinks it’s nice to make jokes in Spanish again, and to have rock and jazz and Latin pop stuck in his head on bus rides
Jake can admit that seeing Marc smile gives him way more of a kick than getting him to swear, and that having someone there to keep him company on late nights is better than a lonely parking lot
None of that means the bite goes away, that the struggle to fit edge to edge ever smooths, but at the same time…
At the same time there are distant hands to care for bruised knuckles, and a leather anchor to cling to during flashbacks, and someone else to say “I know right?” when memories resurface that make the floor shake.
There’s a camaraderie there, in their mutual weariness, in their shared fear of failing to protect the people they love, and their history of fighting and surviving
And sure, they both get that after a point, but… well shit, it wasn’t meant to feel like this
Marc isn’t meant to find himself fiddling with Jake’s gloves, only to lean down and rest his cheek on the leather. Jake isn’t meant to smile a bit wider and feel a warm heat in his throat when Marc’s close to front. They aren’t meant to have silent, parallel activity turn into hips side by side as one of them tells a story, and then into hands brushing together, and into the muted touch of holding.
But fuck if it isn’t nice, if it doesn’t feel good, and safe, and sweet
Neither of them know how to say it. They pinch and gripe and snap, but Love is not a word they know how to say. It’s so sappy
Not that they need to. Not that they’ve ever really had to Say the things that matter. It comes through anyway
There are weary cuddles, looks that pass meaning easily because they’ve seen the same one on their own face in the mirror, reassurances, strong hands and safe corners of headspace when the world outside is too loud
Marc leaves unfinished tic tac toe boards and messages in morse code in Jake’s jacket pockets. Jake gets him an in-box Blast Off from eBay for Chanukah one year. They make a Google doc to argue over sports
One afternoon, Marc’s helping get food ready for Shabbat (at Steven’s insistence for them to actually rest and focus for a weekend) when he’s hit with a thick wave of dissociation. Nothing happens for a bit. No thoughts, just the untethered movement of a chest and eyes staring down, and then the hand reaches up, and the hand presses against lips. A little flash of red and green and deep brown bloom behind Marc’s eyes, and when his hand settles down again, brushed with a kiss of wetness, he huffs slightly, smiling
Jake keeps Marc floating. He tugs him up by his collar and says You aren’t allowed to drown, it will get better. You do not get to give up.
Marc gives Jake a place to stand. He straightens his hat and looks him dead in the eyes and knows him for it. You don’t get to disappear. You don’t get to be overshadowed by this weight.
And within all of it there is something gentle, something that stems from having been through the same type of wars, and being a safe understanding place for the other to retreat to
They’re dual hands holding the same mug of sweet coffee. The “Got onions. Check freezer for ice cream.” in their notes and the “Jake, did you tape the game?” sticky noted onto the front door. They’re warm kisses pressed against temples and curls and facial hair waiting to be shaved (Not a chance, Spector, let me have this one). They are a pause, and rolled up sleeves, and thumbs rubbing absentmindedly on the chafed impression of watch bands and glovelines

Analysis on Witch from Mercury, Colonialism, The Tempest, and Caliba(r)n
Okay I know this is my first post ever but I was tryna find somewhere to put my thoughts after seeing a bunch of people everywhere slander Caliban and why that is not it and how my boi is innocent, good actually. For qualifications I did an undergrad lit class that covered The Tempest like 2 years ago so that's fine right (apologies to my profs if I fuck any of this up)
Okay so for starters yes by now everyone knows WfM is The Tempest, Prospera is Prospero (or Prospera actually, there was a 2010 film adaptation that had the gender switch already), Aerial is Ariel, etc etc. So therefore Caliban has to be this villainous, "monstrous" creature right?
Haha no sit down cos no that would be boring. (and also kinda racist as I'll explain) Notice how in the original Prospero isn't the villain of the story, not really, he's just getting revenge for being wronged years ago and trying to ship the kids together. But if recent gwitch is any indication, Prospera truly is the villain of this story, breaking hearts and stopping at nothing to destroy the Benerit group AND earth. Now I wonder which other adaptation of The Tempest has Prospero as the big bad HMMMM
Enter Aime Cesaire and A Tempest. Written in 1969, it deals with a lot of the more unpleasant connotations of Shakespeares play. Let me lay it all out for you. So you're saying Prospero, a white dude, comes to this island, uses his western magic to overthrow the native witch (Sycorax), wrecks the land of its magic, and then enslaves her son to do his work for him, constantly insulting his appearance and intelligence? HMMMM seems pretty sus (racist and colonial) to me.
Cesaire, writing during a time of decolonial movements throughout the world, was rightfully really mad at colonizers for forcing their way upon natives with violence, and especially with the use of language to control said populations. Caliban has also been repeatedly dehumanised through previous adaptations of Shakespeares work slowly turning him from a man into a monster, not even human. This is similar to how non-european people have constantly been treated in the past.
Now like wait... Forcing communication through a set language? Dehumanisation? Colonisation of oppressed peoples? Where have we seen that before...? HMMMM
(its almost like... permet scores and gundam technology... Calibarn being free of permet links is like Caliban refusing language...)
And here's where I see the great potential of a Gundam Caliban. Gundam is certainly no stranger to decolonial movements (shoutout to my fave Gundam ZZ and the bois in Blue team and the African liberation front) and I think having Caliban as the Gundam to finally end Spacian oppression (perhaps in a sequel idk if Suletta is getting that far after bonking her mom by the end of the season) would be a great take.
As a side note, Aerial is kinda portrayed negatively in Cesaire's work for choosing to work for Prospero in exchange for their own freedom, as kind of a sellout who makes things worse and is ultimately tricked and trapped anyways and... hey! She's in a giant coffin now and Suletta is unhappier than ever! Oops.
Also like I qrted this on my twt but like its important to remember that Caliban is human too, and will respond to accordingly. They (and this might be where i disagree with @adracat a lil on their otherwise excellent posts) arent just a violent unthinking monster, thats just unfortunately how racism often portrays people of colour. If Suletta shows compassion and humanity towards Calibarn, like how she did to Aerial, and how Eri was able to connect with Lfrith in the prologue when Vanadis had failed, I'm sure she'll be able to bring Calibarn over to her side. And because they can connect so fully via human emotions and love (this is where I do agree with adra that love is the answer and key to open the door) (wooo yeah another love powered robot!! G Gundamming time) I dont think Quiet Zero will be able to stop them, as Suletta will have made the ultimate, unmediated connection between woman and machine, becoming one with it in the way Cardo Nabo had always truly hoped for. To don Gundam and live in space.
Okay sorry for the disorganised post but like one last thing I know I said it'd be nice for Calibarn to show up again in S2 but the other theory I have (which might or might not be true cos lets be real gwitch only rhymes, never copies, and i dont even know where schwarzette fits into all this [goatmom gundam my beloved i miss schwarzletta theory still]) is that the ending of A Tempest has Prospero send the girlies off as usual, but then still choose to stay on the island to fight with Caliban forever, till he can finally fully dominate him, cos racists are shit like that. This continues for a rlly long time cos his magics kinda prevent him from just dying of old age and he lives on, like a vampire sucking life from the island (wow capitalism huh) and its implied he and Caliban are just locked in this long struggle to the death until the day he finally croaks and the colonized can finally be free. Now what other gundam has an eternal struggle with fascism hmm?
idk just thought it might be cool for the gundam sisters to push suletta out of the way (maybe out of quiet zero?) whilst trapping prosperas grudge within it for all time, that would also be dramatic and neat lol. Come to think of it if Prospera does it itd be like ZZ again too lol with Haman pushing Judau away.
#g witch#g witch spoilers#suletta mercury#caliban#prospera mercury#the tempest#ok im so sorry for making such a trash first post rip#this is why they taught me essay skills but its okay no ones grading this one#except the opinions of the internet oh no#if this turns out to be true im gonna pop off so hard#yay obscure decolonialism and tempest lore

Zack vs Adri's Fictional Parents
ship: adriel & zack (platonic) source: final fantasy vii word count: 1091 cw: transphobia, mentions of abuse, implications of physical abuse, parental trauma, you get it by now.
FUCK IIIIIT, I'm so mad right now I'm shaking, posting this before the guilt sets in.
Not tagging anyone bc it's kind of rough and I know I'm gonna feel guilty for it in a few hours but you're free to reblog it.
This takes place a little after Modeoheim.
"And the parents… Well. They're not acknowledging him at all."
As Tseng relayed the situation to him, Zack could only stare incredulously.
The fact of the matter was, Adriel was missing. As with Angeal and Genesis, the most logical course of action was to ask his family if they had any idea where he might have gone. Little context clues began to align. Adriel had dropped hints that his upbringing had been… Unsavory, to say the least.
But an utter disregard for their own child being missing?
"I have to talk to them, please, tell me where I can find them."
-
Tseng had given Zack the address, and he had followed it to a humble residence in Sector 7. As far as homes went, it was simple - perhaps a bit low-class upon further consideration.
"My parents werrre… Shinra wage slaves?" Zack recalled Adriel relaying this information with a tense, forced smile, "They all but sold me off to the SOLDIER program - just desperate, I guess."
Zack's fists tightened.
"Guess even the money wasn't worth keeping me around, after…"
He couldn't afford himself another moment to remember any of the things his friend had told him.
It would only make this all the more difficult.
With a sharp breath, he knocked on the door, immediately following by putting his hands on his hips and kicking the ground as he not-so-patiently awaited it to open.
As if he had been expected, the door opened after only a few moments, the visage of an older woman with a grim expression greeting him.
"Another one?" she sighed, seeming to analyze Zack as she looked him up and down, "A SOLDIER at that."
"The hell do you mean a SOLDIER?" a masculine voice followed from the adjacent room.
Zack didn't bother to speak yet, a tall man with an equally disagreeable face approached the door to presumably judge his merit as well.
And judge he did, quite clearly so, as he scowled at Zack and then at the woman.
"I thought you ran a Turk off earlier, what the hell did they send a SOLDIER here for?"
This time the woman seemed to direct her ire at the tall man, scowling just as forcefully.
"How am I supposed to know? If you're implying I didn't do good enough-"
"What the hell do you want? State your business or get off my doorstep," the tall man interrupted her to address Zack as if the woman were an annoyance and nothing more.
Clearing his throat, Zack crossed his arms. It was his turn to judge, and so far, these two weren't making a good impression in the slightest.
"I'm here to ask about your son-"
"We don't have a son," the woman interrupted now, glaring at Zack with apparent loathing, "We already told that Turk. You people need to correct those records of yours."
Zack let out a tense breath through his lips, steeling himself.
"Adriel. Your son. Your only child?"
The pair looked at each other before the tall man scoffed and shook his head.
"We had a daughter once. Had. Never a son, though."
"Oh are you SERIOUS," Zack exclaimed in exasperation before he could stop himself. He hadn't intended to lose his cool, he'd had every intention of civilly interacting with these unpleasant people to the best of his ability.
Easier said than done.
This obviously displeased the two further, the woman's glare intensifying.
"Watch your mouth, boy. Hadn't anyone ever taught you any respect?"
"Well maybe if you'd taught HER better we wouldn't be dealing with this right now, would we?"
Zack's jaw tightened, his teeth grinding together in an attempt to endure the horrific implications that he had been given the misfortune of hearing enough context clues to understand.
"Oh, so it's MY fault she turned into a good for nothing disappointment? I TRIED," the woman directed her statement from the tall man to Zack halfway through her sentence, "She had POTENTIAL, and she squandered it. I did my damned best to keep her on the right path, but she had to go and cast us aside. And for what?"
"PLEASE," Zack managed to keep his volume to a level that was stern but still civil, "He's MISSING. Please. Do you have ANY idea where he could have gone? Just- Just tell me and I'll leave you alone."
Even as Zack's fists clenched, even as he fought the tides of rage that swirled inside him, the pair only scoffed in unison.
"She stopped being our problem years ago. If she wants to disgrace herself further and become a deserter then that's on her."
Zack glared in exasperation at the woman as she disregarded Adriel without an ounce of remorse. He could hardly speak, struggling to keep himself agreeable just for this one instance. Just until he could leave and put these two out of his mind.
"She's become shamless, you know that. She probably doesn't know what to do with herself now that that 1st class she was whoring herself out for is g-"
Zack wasn't even aware that he had moved until his fist had connected with the tall man's face so forcefully that it sent him reeling back. Even as he stepped into the motion to grab the man by the shirt and shake him, his self-awareness was lost entirely. He knew he was speaking, knew that the woman was slapping at his arm and shouting, but still, he processed nothing.
It wasn't until he felt someone grapple him from behind and pull him back that he realized what he'd done, Tseng's voice becoming clear as he called out to him, "Zack!"
Everything rushed back at once - the sound of the woman shrieking at him, the sight of the man slumped against the doorframe, and the feeling of Tseng pulling him off the doorstep before releasing him.
"Zack, that's enough," the Turk spoke sternly, addressing him with equal intensity before looking at the pair in the doorway, "We're heading back, you've caused enough of a mess. We'll have to make a report for this," he sighed, clearly inconvenienced but not with a single ounce of judgment.
Zack's fist felt warm as he glowered at the two people in front of him, stomach heaving at not only having not gotten what he'd come for but for being shown proof of the harsh reality he had only been given glimpses of.
"You're right," he spat, offering one last hateful look before turning away, "He IS no son of yours."

dialogue prompts
so for those unaware of how my life tends to go, I end up in a lot of situations where I end up saying something weird or people say weird things to me, and I like adapting those things into prompt lists. send whatever ship/character/what have you with a number and we’ll see how this goes
“Did I go too far?” “Did you go too far? I called my husband a cartoon lesbian!”
“You’re throwing candy at him and he doesn’t even have his tits out.” “That’s how he gets a peanut butter cup.”
“Conservative radio? That has to be Rush Limbaugh.” “Fuck Rush Limbaugh!”
“I’m a massive fucking atheist, but it brings me so much joy to picture Nancy Reagan in hell.”
“You’re so small, it’s like your body can’t contain your excitement. It’s really funny to watch actually.”
“Do not use the word ‘curate’ in relation to 80s heavy metal. You picked it. ‘Curate’, fuck off.”
“I think the neighbors got evicted.” “No, really? It’s about time.”
“You’re like the guy, what’s his name, can’t talk to girls?” “I’d be mad if you weren’t totally right.”
“When you were little I thought you might have been autistic.” “When I was little?”
“You have been gone for six hours-” “Hello child.” “Hi dad- more than six hours actually-”
“I almost took the wrong exit and ended up in Canada, so that’s my day.”
“Who has childproof locks on their car doors?” “What?” “I don’t know, I got stuck in the backseat of a car because of childproofing that shouldn’t exist.”
“I feel like your boyfriend can’t cook.” “Why would you think that?” “Because you cook for him sometimes.” “Why would that mean he can’t though?”
“I think my grandpa tried to set me up with his pastor’s son. Stop laughing, this is serious.”
“Why did she hate you?” “No idea, at that point I was just trying to survive middle school.”
“Well, I mean, the waitress was flirting with you.” “The waitress was what now?”
“What kind of cosmic fuck up did you make to result in this kind of karma?” “I don’t know. I’m so tired.”
“What are you, a dog? Stop chewing on that, you absolute child.”
“You’re just boobing all over the place.” “Boobing.”
“Wait, hold on, let me guess. May of whatever year we were in seventh grade in Detroit.” “Yeah actually, what the fuck? That’s so specific, how did you do that?”
“I like that you call information about yourself lore… Wait, did you just say you got hit by a car?” “I love the order you processed that in.”
“Who had them pegged as the bitch with the biggest tits in this apartment? Not me, that’s for sure.”
“Come here, I need you to bless the vodka bottle.” “I don’t believe in Jesus.” “You don’t need to, just come bless the bottle.”
“I’m stealing his daughter and if he’s still being a homophobe I’ll steal his wife too.”
“I broke up with my boyfriend and my therapist fucking cheered.” “I don’t disagree with her.”
“You would suck dick for a crab rangoon.” “Oh for sure.”
“Someone just handed me condoms in a way that seemed like he thought I had the hardware to be able to use them, however I like that I pass as someone who does, so I’ll take it.”
“So you’re like, an expert on the Titanic, right?” “Is this about the submarine?” “Maybe.” “Great, buckle in, you’ve come to the right person.”
“Do you want me to explain bottom surgery to you? Because I think you’re going to get grossed out.” “Yeah, I’ll be fine.” (dear reader, she was, in fact, grossed out)
“You have main character things happen to you while having the attitude of a quirky side character, and I love it.”
“Is that a lemon?” “It’s a cat, but I see where you’re coming from.”
“During pride month? This is homophobia.” “That was loud.” “Good, I hope the homophobe heard.”
“He was like, ‘is your roommate hot?’ and I was like ‘what, yeah, why?’ like who asks that?” “You think I’m hot?”
“So I have a proposition.” “No.” “You don’t even know what it is.” “Yes I do. That one asshole is hitting you up for a booty call. Don’t.” “Bitch.”
“Where are your wisdom teeth?” “Probably in a medical waste container somewhere if they’re still on this plane of existence.”
“I thought he was kidding!” “Who would joke about a turtle?”
“Hey, can someone drive me to the Urgent Care?” “Like now?” “If you’re not busy.”
“Listen. I avoided admitting myself to a hospital for any reason for almost 17 years. Don’t yell at me for not knowing that wasn’t an Urgent Care problem.”
“Whose Rabbi came to the soccer game?”
“Are you fucking colorblind? That’s purple.”
“I got hit on at the grocery store.” “Was he cute?” “He looked greasy.”
“How do you not know who David Bowie is?” “That is the loudest I’ve ever heard you, holy fuck.”
“When I get wine drunk, I get horny.” “We could have a threesome.” “There’s four people here.” “Oh. Foursome then.”
“Hey can I give you a dollar for one of those beanie babies? I need to butcher it for a cat toy.” “Sure?”
“Sit, we need to talk to you about something.” “Remember when you got high a couple weeks ago and had a gender crisis?”
“Are you going to stab me?” “What? Oh, butter knife, sorry.”
“You know when men have that little swoop of hair? The queef?” “Oh my god I’m crying, you mean a quiff.”
“There is a very large bug on my flowers and I don’t want to touch it.” “That’s my cicada, he’s already dead.”
“Dude, I’ve lived with you for like three months, you’re so obviously a switch.”
“Sometimes you say things and I do not question you because they are the most on brand things you could possibly say. Like sure, I’ll buy that you listen to punk music and have a high pain tolerance. That seems right.”

for the ask game - JayTim obviously!! or, if that's been asked already, maybe JayRoy?
YESSSSSSSS okay I'm gonna do both ships, because neither has been asked yet!
We're going to start with Jaytim though, because obviously I ship it 😂
What made you ship it?
There was a fic by Timmyjaybird that I read that had unrequited Jaytim (different main pairing with Tim), and their dynamic piqued my interest. I decided to click into the ship page, read strange fear I ain't felt for years by sister, and then it was over for me. If you know me, you'll know I always say that all it takes is reading one good fic for a ship and I'll start shipping it. Plus I'm a Tim kinnie and Jason is so so hot, so theres definitely a projection character/attraction character thing going on
What are your favorite things about the ship?
All the ways I can play with them. They can be fucked up, unstable, unwell, obsessive (on both sides). They can be bitter and angry and fall into each other (which I tend to favor in longer works). They can be soft and sweet and gentle and forgiving. They can be blushing and nervous and uncertain. They can be petty and annoyed and really into riling each other up. It ALWAYS works. And also, there's something I find so fascinating about the way they accidentally helped create each other. Tim as Robin happened mostly because of Jason, and Jason becoming Red Hood and going after Bruce gets set into motion because he finds out about Tim. They're a feedback loop and neither of them is happy with the results. Okay, I have to stop here before this turns into a dissertation. Or before I spoil a future fic which I already had to erase a spoiler for so next question
Is there an unpopular opinion you have about the ship?
A little bit? I think my only opinion that some people disagree with (but isn't necessarily unpopular) is that I don't like the whole Pit Madness thing. When Jason came back he had a fucked up plan, and he wasn't entirely in his right mind, but he justified it. He was doing the wrong thing for the right reasons when it came to Tim (being mad at Bruce because he's going to get Tim killed and then he almost kills Tim to prove the point). It's something I explore in my fics at almost every opportunity, because I think it's too easy to let Jason off the hook by blaming it on the pit. It also frustrates me because it doesn't really matter whether or not he meant to hurt Tim, because he did. And I like watching him take responsibility for the knowledge that he wanted to hurt Tim, and being forced to confront the realization that his logic at the time involved a lot of mental gymnastics, and grapple with the idea that it might not be a thing he can fix and that even if it is, Tim probably shouldn't forgive him, and definitely shouldn't get involved with him. Okay, halfway through writing this I realized that I definitely have an unpopular opinion about them, but I'm not erasing all that, so you get both. I hate the nickname babybird. I know. I know! I hear you all disagreeing with me. I see you all throwing tomatoes at me. I just don't like it! I don't think it's cute. I like little red or little bird much better, personally.
Okay I'm also gonna do JayRoy but this is getting long, so I'm gonna put the rest under the cut.
JayRoy: I ship it!!!
What made you ship it?
I think one of my friends told me they knew it was a ship and they thought it was cute sometimes and I checked it out? I've actually been reading Jayroy since before I read Jaytim. And as previously stated, all it takes is one good fic.
What are your favorite things about the ship?
Honestly I just love their relationship so much. Roy is one of the few people Jason ever really allows to get close to him after becoming Red Hood (if we're ignoring the whole being brought back into the batfamily thing which I have a Lot of Opinions about, but that's a story for another time, anyone reading this can feel free to send me an ask if you want the rant), and I really just love the way they understand each other and are there for each other. I also love that they're assholes to each other. Roy is so irritating and Jason should hate it but he can't and he doesn't because Roy is too endearing and genuine. It's sweet. It's the angry one and the sunshine one.
Is there an unpopular opinion you have about the ship?
I guess? I think they work better as friends who also sleep together. Like, I don't necessarily think they should date. I think that if they ever ended up in a long-term relationship, it would be because Jason realizes he hasn't slept with anyone else in years and they've been partners for even longer than that. But when it comes to things that healthy relationships should have, I don't really see them having it. It's not healthy to start dating someone because you realize you already are after not talking about it for years. I think too much of the responsibility and emotional labor would fall on Roy, and I think he deserves better.
okay, if you're still reading at this point then thank you for reading!!! and thanks for the ask!! I had so much fun answering this 💚💚💚
#🔧gerryrigged#<- assigned bestie tag#I put a lot of thought into ur emoji#like too much probably#thank you so much for the ask!!!!#batsasks#jaytim#jayroy

to answer the other anon because I just saw that post the other day: no. her post is just the typical "zutara should've been canon" post but even more fucking stupid. also phoebester thinks that katara and aang are 13 and 16 during the events of the show, so she's also one of those zutara shippers who hasn't properly watched the show since 2008. truly don't see the point why you can't just. ship your ship. like why be fucking braindead about it
this is the post -> https://www.tumblr.com/phoebester/720313946505166848/zuko-however-was-willing-to-give-up-the-world?source=share
God, this bullshit post is so fucking condescending, it makes me sick.
No, honey, Zuko did not "give up the world" for Katara. It was a battle, his ally was in danger, and he tried to protect them. Can you tell me he wouldn't have done the same for Iroh? Or for Toph? Hell, for Aang himself? Don't get me wrong, it's a meaningful sacrifice, but it is NOT the same as what Aang was going through.
Aang didn't want to give up Katara for the world - in fact, Zutarians love using that as an exemple as why Kataang is bad actually (funny how, once again, what does and does not count as romantic depends on the ship for these people). In fact, we get Iroh telling him "By the way, I think you're right in choosing love over absolute power", which makes a ton of sense considering Iroh would have never lost his son if he had rejected the Fire Nation's imperialism earlier in life.
And when does Aang change his mind? When everything is getting out of control in Ba Sing Se, and if he doesn't enter the Avatar State, everyone will either be imprisoned or die - including Katara. And after Azula shoots him with lightning, who saves his life? Katara.
The choice between love and the world is an illusion. He CAN'T choose. He DOESN'T HAVE to choose. If Aang fully accepts his duties as the Avatar, there's a chance that Katara will die. If rejects his mission and doesn't take action Katara WILL die.
When Aang acts as the Avatar, he is doing it for the greater good - both of the people that he doesn't known, for the ones that are his motivation to keep going. Katara is not his temptation away from his duty, she is one more reason why he HAS to do keep trying.
In fact, Aang's arc is all about rejecting "necessary sacrifices" that are actually not necessary at all. Hence him refusing to let the horros of war take away his love for life, for the world, and even for the Fire Nation itself. Hence him allowing Katara, and his other friends, to actually act like kids again despite the burden of saving the world being their responsibility now. Hence him even sparing Ozai of all people as a proof that no more bloodshed is needed.
THAT is why he ends the show as both the Avatar, and as just a kid that is having some fun with his friends.
And about that last part of the post: NO, the ship war did not happen because Zutara wasn't canon. VERY funny how Zutarians being mad that their ship didn't happen is valid, but this person is full acting like if Zutara had happened then other people would not have the right to voice their opinion that the show would have been better off without it. THIS is what causes ship wars. Entitlement. Not people agreeing to disagree.
"Kataang fans would have understood where we were coming from" We DO understand. You liked a ship, said ship didn't happen, you were naturally upset about it. That is not the problem. The problem is the harrassment, the lies about both the canon and the intention of the writers, the refusal to just accept that Zutara would not have magically been universally loved if it had been canon. This petty fight goes on because you people just refuse to let it fucking die. We are not asking to stop liking your ship, we just ask that you stop forcing it down our throats and twisting the canon events to fit your narrative.
Also, this person should watch How I Met Your Mother. THAT show had the bullshit "Main character HAS to get the girl because one of the writers full on admited he was hardcore projecting onto said character" and in fact, the way they got together was by pulling the loathed tactic of "Let's kill off this character's partner", which this person seems to think magically makes everyone ship a different thing instead of only making them mad that the writers could not be bothered to come up with an actual reason as to why the characters didn't work together and gave them the ax instead.
And seriously, in what fucking world "Let kill off the last survivor of a genocide and thus botch the show's message of restoring balance just so two characters can kiss" a good narrative choice? I can accept people not liking Kataang, or even Aang himself, but HOW can anyone watch a show ABOUT THE WORLD HEALING FROM WAR AND GENOCIDE and think that it should end with one of the races of that fictional world losing it's last chance to keep on living? Couldn't they just say something as simple as "I headcanon that Kataang will break up eventually, and years later Katara will marry Zuko"? They have to ASK FOR THE FIRE NATION TO SUCCESSFULLY KILL OFF ALL THE AIR-NOMADS AND HAVE THAT BE SHOWN AS A SORT OF POSTIVE THING ACTUALLY?

THE KING OF FNAF?
Read of AO3
< this is Chapter 1 >
disclaimers: This all takes place much after the events of each canon, Aftons & Emilys meet Fnaf: the musical, This is based off the gacha Fnaf concept of aftons meet past/future/au/canon/etc, This fanfic features my personal headcanons & theories and a Fnaf AU alike to gacha AUs (aftons can transform into their animatronic form, aftons have ther abilities, illusion discs make them seem normal, Ennard, etc) there's no need to get mad if you disagree with stuff, There's some canon-typical violence, And there's two ships (Nate x Mark, Michael x Jeremy Fitzgerald)
"Liz please I need to get some sleep before my shift toni-" right as Michael finished his
sentence, the doorbell rang. Elizabeth walked over to the door, turning on her illusion disc
and kicking any visible bloody appendage out of sight. She opened the door and stared down
the men outside with her big green eyes. "Who the fuck are you?" She asked, forgetting she
appears as a child. "Wow! No need to curse!" the man with the dyed hair exclaimed, "I'm
Mark, this is Nate, and this is... Uhh what's your name again?" He turned to the man in the
purple hoodie. "AJ!! ITS AJ!! IS IT REALLY SO HARD TO REMEMBER?!" He screeched,
it hurts Elizabeth's ears. "Shut up, stop shouting like a 5 year old, who's the last guy?" She
asked, pointing at the man in the bloody suit. "That man goes by many nam-" Mark started,
but was cut off by that same man. "Matt, or Scott, or William, or Dave, or evil dirtbag with a
chainsaw, or phone gu- okay yeah that's a lot of names. Most people just call me Matt
though" he chuckled, Lizzy raised an eyebrow. "Why are you here?" She asked, not wanting
to deal with adults right now. "Well, our car broke down and we need a place to stay..." Nate
started, "...and your house seemed more welcoming than your neighbour's, we were kicked
off the property" Mark finished. Elizabeth stared at them for a moment, confused, and then
turned to the inside of the house, "MIKE! THERE'S PEOPLE AT THE DOOR THAT WANT
TO STAY!" She shouted, hoping her brother heard. A bang was heard from the vents above
her, followed by a soft, robotic 'fuck'. "Enn, you have to stop spying on people from the
vents" she shook her head. Mark and Nate looked at each other, worried if they made the
right decision. After a few seconds, a man barely resembling Michael walked in to the room.
"Mike, this is Mark, Nate, Matt, and uhh-" Liz started to explain, but forgot the purple
hoodie-d guy's name. "AJ!" he exclaimed in anger. "James, exactly what I said. Anyways
they want to spend the night here because their car broke or something" she continued.
Michael thought for a moment, staring at a hidden blood spot on the wall, slightly terrified of
how that might go. "You know what? I'm sure dad will appreciate some guests, and I'm sure
Ennard will love it too" he said finally, winking to Liz, implying the four guests will not
leave the house unless it be in ghost/soul form. AJ started to shiver, it was getting cold
outside. "Come on in!" Michael smiled wide, fixing his loose tie which had his illusion disc
in it. The fours walked in and Lizzy closed the door. She went to the kitchen because she was
hungry and left the group and Michael all alone. Michael led them to the living room, which
was luckily empty. He took out his phone and texted the family group chat (which had very
little messages in it) "guests over, get En to clean up all the rooms and leave the vents, get
him his illusion disc too. C, get yours, it's on dad's table in the workshop. Dad, please don't
murder them. Liz, get mom and make some dinner, they probably need to eat. And under no
circumstances will any of you be talking about the past!! We are the Schmidt family until
they leave tomorrow morning." He sent the message and sank on the couch next to Mark. He
noticed two pins mark had on his shirt, one read "Freddy Fazbear's pizzaria security" and
they other was a bisexual pride flag. Mike raised an eyebrow, "you wor- uhh you like men
and women?" He thought it might be easier to approach that subject first. "yeah- I mean I
have a boyfriend" Mark pointed to Nate, who was chatting with AJ. "Ohhh, cool! I'm gay,
and I have a boyfriend too" Mike responded, wondering what Jeremy was doing right now.
"Nice" Mark pulled his phone, bored. His phone's wallpaper was him, Nate, a weird plushie
version of Freddy, Bonnie, Chica, and Foxy on the background of a burned building with a
sign reading "Freddy Fazbear's pizzaria" in big letters and "get some Freddy-filled fun
today!" In a smaller font. Mike cringed at that slogan, ""don't ask as about our kids" was a
better one" he thought to himself. He wanted to ask about the job because he never saw Mark around, and he knew literally all of the workers at Fazbear entertainment's places. Besides,
those looked nothing like the animatronics from the actual locations, and that building didn't
look like any location! He was confused and concerned. "You uhh.. you work at Freddy's?"
He asked quietly, afraid of the answer. "Oh, uh, yeah, I'm a- or well, I WAS a nightguard
before this psycho burned his own place down." Mark chuckled and pointed at Matt, which
concerned Michael so much more. Freddy's locations belong to either his dad or his dad's
"friend", not this random dude! "I thought the owners were William Afton, Dave Miller, and
Henry Emily?" He said confused, attempting to sound normal. "Those are all his nicknames"
Mark chuckled again.
Before Michael could say anything further, William walked through the front door, looking
exhausted and with a big stain of blood on his clothes. "It rained today." He said through
gritted teeth, still in pain from the springlocks. Michael burst out laughing, glad his dad got
springlocked again. Mark stared at the blood with wide eyes and internal panic, Nate and AJ
did the same. Matt looked for a moment, then made a face of understanding, "you work with
springlocks too?" He asked, rolling his sleeves up to reveal scars from his old springlocks
suits. "Yep" William unbuttoned the two top buttons of his shirt, revealing deep scarring from
countless springlocks failures. "Oof, that's rough buddy" Matt responded as he got up and
reached his hand for a handshake, "Matt, or Afton, nice to-" but he was cut off by Michael
and William. "AFTON?!" they screamed in unison, shocked at this discovery.

(sorta?) hot take we should stop being shitty to m!levens and calling them dumb behind their backs because in the end its literally just fictional characters and even if they did it first just hit the block button (its not that hard). 'but they started it-' block them. 'but theyre being ignorant-' its not your job to educate them. block them. literally just stop being an asshole. who cares what they ship. as long as its not some weird adult/minor thing or whatever just let them be. there are real people behind those screens.
my apologies for taking so long to get to this T-T
YES YES YES FUCKING SAY IT
i'm so sick of the blatant bullying from bylers towards milkvans. they are minding their own business on their tag, posting their thoughts and enjoying the characters, and yet there's still so many of us who feel entitled to shit all over them and the things that they like and think, the exact thing that we complain about constantly.
i fucking hate how this tag seems to believe that shipping byler makes you exempt from being a bully. it feels like SHIT to have someone make fun of you behind your back- believe me, i goddamn know! so many of us know! and yet it's still such an issue? LEAVE THEM ALONE! let them make fanart, and write fic, and have headcanons and a deep love for these characters and their ship, because it does not goddamn affect us. it doesn't.
this tag has a serious problem with perpetuating the idea that anyone not picking up on or disagreeing with or even just simply disliking byler makes them stupid or media illiterate, which is NOT TRUE!!! milkvans aren't stupid, the general audience isn't stupid, and we aren't better than ANYONE for looking so deep into this show and finding subtext to analyze that brought us to the conclusion that byler will/should be canon.
maybe they disagree with the way the evidence is presented. maybe they think it means something else. maybe they simply don't want to look deeper into the show- WHO CARES! we all need to stop pretending that the term 'media literacy' hasn't been turned into a weapon that we use against anyone who disagrees with us or doesn't care enough about the show to think about it deeper than a surface level. that's not what media literacy means, but it's been twisted into something it's not, just like with fucking tiktok and 'gaslight' or 'normalize'.
agh. i'm sorry for turning this into a rant, but it makes me SO mad that people can't leave milkvans alone to enjoy their ship and their characters. shipping wars are dumb. have your own thoughts and opinions and talk about them, but don't point and laugh at the people who drastically disagree- because you don't come off looking good, you come off looking like a total twat who can't accept different interpretations of a television show.
anyways. milkvans i love you dearly i hope you're having fun with mike and el and i'm sorry for anyone who makes you feel bad for enjoying them, mwah mwah

And here is the issue with the antis (some of them at least).
Tagging a negative view of a show/character/ship is purposely wanting to get people mad. Not just expressing your emotions and opinions, no. That's not enough. You have to let people that want to enjoy this, see it and just upset them.
They don't give a flying fuck if you get upset with a post (people have said that they can see their abuser to Ed for example, which is something you have zero rights to argue with), if you disagree with them, if you just want to a enjoy something on this hellsite and the "wholesome" show. They could tag it as critical, as they well know, so they can share their views with like-minded people. They could not tag it as "izzy hands" at all. Someone has posted something negative and tagged it as izzy, but I told them not to, and guess what? They removed the tag, like a normal person. But others... they purposely say that they won't ever stop, no matter who gets upset.
Why would anyone want to do this other than being an asshole is beyond me.
What's the point of this particular post you ask? No idea. I am just upset checking the tag only to find a new random person to block, who is here to piss people off. Imagine having this hobby though, lol
#ofmd fandom critical#seriously this is why this fandom is awful#not because of different views#but because of this#this person is blocked now and wont see this thankfully#but i genuinely dont get it#what do they get out of this???#i also purposely didnt the tag this as anything else#and if you want me to use another tag for stuff like that#lmk#i am trying not to bother#but i just cant
