You have done enough today,” he says, and though his voice is softer than usual, you know he means it. Tom doesn’t like when you overwork yourself—which is blatant hypocrisy in your eyes. “It’s only ten more pages, I- oh—“ his thumbs sink into the aching muscles of your shoulders, massaging with precise ease. “So tense,” he mutters, encouraging you to lean back against the wooden chair. You rest your head against him, humming softly as your eyes slowly flutter closed in exhaustion. His hands work magic on your sore muscles, and for the first time in hours your worries fade, fully focused on your boyfriend’s fingers sinking into your skin so perfectly. “I have been so busy, Tom. I am sorry for neglecting you.” He huffs. “Don’t worry about me. But I do need you to take a break. Now.” Of course, he manages to convince you to go to bed. You could never say no to him—not when he sweet-talks you, not when you are on the brink of exhaustion anyway. So you let him lead you up the stairs, let him kiss you softly as you reach your bedroom, his hands wandering to your waist, pulling you closer to him. You protest weakly as his warm hands slip under the fabric of your shirt, slowly pulling it over your head. “Shhh. Let that pretty head of yours rest.” He mutters, and you close your eyes as his lips trail kisses down your neck, tilting your head to give him better access. His fingers work the zipper of your jeans, the rough material soon dropping to pool at your feet, leaving you in your underwear.  You step out of your trousers as he leads you towards the bed, and before you know it, your head is resting on his chest, one leg draped over his as his hands trail over the bare skin of your tummy. Tom halts as he reaches the waistband of your burgundy lace panties. 

“Okay?” he whispers, his breath ghosting over your cheek as he leans in, pressing a soft kiss to the shell of your ear. from my January readings, I’ve collected a few more merlin fic recs for the people…

so sorry it took this long xoxoxoxoxoxo new year worse me

For favorite long (80k+) fic I would have to go with Hiraeth by BeautifulFiction!! yes I read it- all 500k words of it, and it was a ride and a half. Alternating POVs, canon era, time fuckery, realistic depictions of trauma, recovery, discovering themselves in this slightly altered universe, it was so interesting and thoroughly captivating like damn I really read All That

For favorite mid length (30k-80k) fic I would whole heartedly give it to Playing for Keeps by rotrude. One of my favorite fics by this author, these two are so utterly stupid about everything but also brilliant and I could not get enough reading about them. tie in that little bit of forbidden fruit vibe with modern concerts and music and orchestras, just mmmmm yes please

For favorite short fic (<30k) I’ll recommend this 32k (yes I know this is cheating) ALPHA X ALPHA!! fic I found called Smoke and Ink by KANESHON. I have read many an omegaverse fic in my time and I went on a search for alpha/alpha merthur pairings and this modern era fic didn’t disappoint, they even gave me tattoo artist goodness along with it. very nice very excellent

I didn’t read all THAT many other new fics as I was occupied with the monster that was Hiraeth, but I did read some that I enjoyed!

Unconventional Ways of Forming Relationships by rotrude. Looooove the modern era merlin x Morgana fwb too like what a messy time

Again from rotrude, I enjoyed Knight of the Temple. again this author brings so many unique plots and settings and I love it- it’s like a historical holy grail type setting, who’s doing it like them truly

From Old World to New by rotrude (guys I really have a theme) (pls just go through their fics there are simply so many to choose from) I enjoyed the many forms of 1900s tension between these two.

My favorite reread in January would have to go to Deep In My Heart I’m Concealing by Cithara. The soul bonds OUUUUU you know they get me! High emotions, canon era, lots of tension, and I for one love when Arthur just feels Merlin’s magic and it gives quite an abundance of that.

I’ve been busy but I made it!! between sickness and planning out a very far move and work I’m distracted but i am always insane about my merthur and you can rest assured of that. like i was looking at Arthur in my dream last night while i was in a Merlin POV, i wish i was kidding but I truly can never escape them

that will be all for January!! lord willing my other posts will be more on time but I apologize for putting them off <3 I’ll be back soon!!! I swear!!!
