MEMBERS OF THE HOUSE
joy royce outlived her sister, lady of runestone, by ten years. she witnessed the accession of her firstborn, named heir at birth, ruben royce, at the age of twelve* years old. gerold royce, first cousin and sworn shield to lady rhea, passed two years after burying her cousin; citing the blame for her cousins' death, both brahm (rhea and joy's older brother, who passed away at aged ten) and rhea's, on his own missteps. gunthor went on to contest ruben's succession twice during his early reigns, gaining enough support to overrule ruben's commands and led many of house royce's bannermen into supporting arnold arryn during the vale's civil war. at this transgression, ruben would later sentenced gunthor to death.

i saw this tweet and found it interesting for two reasons. one is that some people base how good cartoon network would be to toh by how it treated su, and despite the fact that su’s treatment by the network was considered poor at the time, now its thought to be exceptionally good in comparison to modern shows.
two is how exactly su got impacted by a limited budget. a common criticism is how characters like connie, peridot, and lapis are left out of missions. but balancing a lot of characters is not only hard but also costly (extra animation, extra voices—it’s been revealed that the show is limited to a set number of characters per episode otherwise they’re over budget). animation mistakes are not uncommon since retakes cost extra. the entire reason the original show got cut short was due to loss of funding!

if anything i find it even more tragic that Wyll doesn't get that resolution that you can find with some of the other characters. Sure, you can break him out of his pact with Mizora, but he... never understands that he was a victim of both his Mizora's manipulation and his father's neglect.
He was still a very much neglected seventeen year old boy who was cast out by the one person he idolized and the only family he ever had.
The tav never gets a moment to go 'hey your dad is actually a piece of shit' nor 'hey your dad also neglected you your whole life' that actually has a whole impact on him. Wyll spends the whole game mentioning numerous occasions where his father would scold him for being a child. he mentions having to repeat balduran's pledge every single day by his father's request. Ulder even admits to drifting from Wyll from the day he was born.
Yet Wyll idolized him and saw him as if he was the very sun because he had no one else. He puts his own father on a pedestal and doesn't even entertain the idea that maybe his father isnt as great as he sees him to be. he doesn't get a moment where he can realize that he is worthy and great without needing to be the blade of avernus/frontiers nor as the archduke's son.... he can just be Wyll and that's enough- even if it wasn't enough for Ulder.
It's a tragedy that, whether due to Larian's mistreatment to his character or crunch, that Wyll doesn't get to see his father as someone who hurt him too.
