I just want to address this because I've seen a lot of international turtles freaking out and getting all excited about it - the supposed movie GG and DD are set to star in together.

I'm a bit surprised that anyone takes this even remotely seriously. Just a reminder that Douban is a user edited site just like IMDB and Wikipedia. Don't be sucked into ridiculous things like this. I put the chance of GG and DD starring in a film together at about 0.05%.

As I have said in the past, GG and DD are highly unlikely to ever work together again - at least not in the foreseeable future. Their fans wouldn't stand for it - and we should all know this by now. The fan wars would be horrible, unprecedented and potentially career-destroying on both sides. The arguments over which got higher billing than the other - that alone would burn down the internet.

They're also both top stars, so it's unlikely a production could afford them both, or that their schedules would coincide in such a way as to make a collaboration like this possible.

If they were to take a chance on working together again - and for countless reasons it would be a huge risk for them both - I doubt they'd do so unless the project and the production team were so high profile and undeniable that fans on both sides couldn't help but be excited for the opportunity and couldn't help but accept that it was a good choice for them. Wong Kar Wai, Ang Lee and the like. Even then, I'm not sure fans would accept it.

Never lose sight of how deeply the hatred runs between their two fan groups, or of how massive an impact that's going to have on their future choices, or on any chance of their appearing together.

All that aside, GG and DD are individuals who've worked hard to forge their own separate careers and build their individual successes. I don't think they'd be eager to throw back in together on a project so that they can be further lumped together and so there can be further public speculation about them and their relationship.

We're 5 years out since the Untamed and GG and DD STILL can't even appear on the same stage at an awards show, and turtles seriously think they're going to appear in a film together?

Instant Eternity

Time travel involving the infinite realms is truly a bizarre thing. Sometimes it follow one set of rules, and sometimes that set of rules may as well not exist. Usually, however, it works in one of two ways, the first is when the time travel is achieved through artificial means such as clockworks portals and allows for the altering of the timeline as one would expect time travel would allow. The other type of time travel is through natural means, portals usually, and it’s just that, Natural. That portal to the past opened up in the past the same moment it did in the present. If you step into the portal in the year 2000 then you already stepped out of the portal hundreds of years ago. It’s A Thing That Already Happened. Danny himself experienced this, as while chasing Vlad through time they fought in the middle of a Roman coliseum and, whoopsy daisy, set a really big fire. A fire which Danny had learned about years before he even had his accident.

So, the infimap can take the user anywhere, anywhen. And the infimap is just that, a map. It doesn’t make new roads, it just drags you across already existing paths. So it is a natural form of time travel, if you use it to go in time to kill your grandfather in order to insure your never born your interference will result in your grandparents falling in love and your birth.

Danny realizes that anytime he needs to heal from a battle or has gone 156 hours without sleeping or eating he can use the infimap to pop back to the past for a few days and then have the map bring back to the “Present”, exactly one second after he left. A three week vacation that lasted one second. At first he’s really wary about using this, worried about accelerated aging or getting lost in the time stream and a hundred other issues. At first.

It’s been months sense the accident. Sam and Tucker have both shot up several inches. Danny, on the other hand, hasn’t grown sense the accident. At all. After having his first middeath crisis, suddenly the only reasons he had to not spend years on end wandering the world and the past is gone, even if he loses the infimap, worst case scenario he’ll just take the long way home. Suddenly, he’s dreading the next 80 years of the “Present”. He decides that if he’s going to watch his friends and family grow old and frail he’s going to make sure it’s takes as long as it possibly could, from his perspective. By the time they’re 20 Danny’s gonna have 200 years under his belt.

He becomes a temporal tourist, hopping into the past every time the late night fights and schoolwork become to much. Spends years in every civilization imaginable, mastering every skill he can, leaving legends in his wake.

I feel like Danny and his adventures do have a lot of potential for story’s, as it’s a pretty good setup for having Danny in any type of time period or historical event for extended periods of time, fighting in the trenches of World War I, exploring the Americas during the era of colonialism, sailing the seas a swashbuckling vigilante pirate. I, however, have most of my related ideas being based around crossovers. So most of that will be in part two, so that people who like to filter out all that can still see this post.

I took T for 3 months. I took it at the starting low dose, they determined that I was absorbing it too effectively and lowered it even more. Within those three months, the most notable changes for me personally:

- Clitoral growth. This was the first thing that happened for me, in a weird uno-reverse of most peoples' situations that I've seen. This change stayed.

- Libido. I simply did not have one prior to testosterone. Now I very much do- even only having taken it for 3 months, I experience a way more physical feeling of Need To Get Off than I did prior to testosterone. This change stayed.

- Vocal Fry. My voice dropped probably half an octave very quickly- I still sound recognizably 'female', but I sound like I'm early-hormonal-transition. I also did lose my ability to scream. This change stayed.

- Acne. I had horrific acne for the three months I was on T. I've heard this is normal and does go away when you stay on testosterone. This change did not stay.

- Hair growth. I have dark, long hairs on my chest and belly that were not there before, but they're soft and not a bother to me personally. However, I do grow a gnarly teen-boy's-first-facial-hair situation if I don't shave or pluck every day, after only 3 months. This may be unique to the weird readiness with which my body accepted the testosterone, as I often hear facial hair growth is pretty slow for a lot of trans men. But on the off chance that you have that same kind of situation, be absolutely sure that the texture of prickly hair on your chin and the skin around your mouth is something you're gonna be cool with dealing with, because once it comes in it doesn't go away. For most trans men this isn't an issue, I'm just a) not a man after all and b) autistic in the 'touching prickly things sucks' way.

I wasn't on T long enough for any negative side effects to show up, but the clinic I was at was very thorough with telling me what potential side effects there were, and frankly, I have to second what everyone else so far has said- the risks 'increase' to... basically what they would have been had you been born a cis man, in most cases. And if you decide it isn't for you, as I did after 3 months, even if many changes are permanent, you can still stop taking it and your life will not be ruined. It's not a poison, it's just inducing your body to have a different hormone profile than it did before. Nothing that changes in your body is a characteristic that no other person on earth has. You'll be fine. If you want to try it, try it.

Controversial opinion about the Watcher streaming service, apparently: This was a really exciting announcement that everyone was so excited to shit on that y'all may end up killing Watcher altogether.

I'm going to try to be really clear about this, because I don't want to dismiss valid concerns, so here we go.

Watcher came to us and they said, "We want to make our best content for you. We don't want you to be the product we have to sell to advertisers, we want you to be an audience that we can take on the coolest journey we can make. But that takes money that we can't get from YouTube revenue." And I honestly thought this was a perfectly logical and reasonable direction to take the company so Watcher could continue to exist in its best possible form.

Are there things they could have stated more clearly? Yeah, especially that their YouTube library would still be available and what would happen to people who were already patrons of the channel.

Do I understand why people would be upset about potentially losing access to Watcher? Of course. It's an amazing company making amazing content, and not everyone can afford a streaming service. They did openly encourage password sharing, which I happen to think is very cool of them, but some people would still lose access and that sucks.

But I truly don't understand how "We want to make amazing content and keep our amazing team, and that needs a budget that YouTube just can't give us" turned into "Wahhhh give us your money, we want it all" to some people. I think it's worth remembering that Watcher is a small company with a small team, not a streaming giant looking for one more way to milk an extra cashflow opportunity.

I truly hope that Watcher making everything free on YouTube on a delay because people yelled loud enough doesn't shoot them in the foot. Because I think they make great content and I think they deserve to be paid fairly for it and pay their staff fairly for it. Content creators aren't factories; they don't have to churn free content out for you forever. If Watcher becomes untenable because Ryan, Shane, and Steven can't make good content and make enough money to live off of at the same time, it will simply vanish. And I'm sure some of the same people yelling about the streaming service will yell about that too, if it ever happens.

I don't know, I just didn't think, "We're trying to make the best possible content for you," deserved this much of an outcry.

(SPOILERS for "Transformers: One!) I'm about to go see the movie again, so I may come back with better details later, but I saw a negative take that I thought was... understandable but also ungenerous towards the film... and I want to get some thoughts out about it now.

Sentinel is an unreliable narrator!!! It would be kind of flat story-wise if Sentinel had honestly betrayed the Primes just because he was "bored of all their talking" and just wanted all of their power for himself. Selfishness and ego aren't spectacularly interesting motivations, sure. I enjoyed him personally, but I also really don't think that anyone is obligated to find Sentinel interesting or fun as a villain; if you didn't enjoy him, that's fair.

But Sentinel is a showman!!! These are the claims that Sentinel makes to his ENEMIES, including Zeta Prime and Alpha Trion and the High Guard. Of course he's going to try and save face in front of them? And in front of his own subordinates? He's acting like he's disaffected by all of his enemies, like the return of a Prime doesn't scare him at all, like the loss of the Matrix doesn't matter to him, like the threat of the Quintessons is nothing to him... Like these people can't hurt him, no matter what they say or do, because he doesn't care about them.

And maybe Sentinel is that careless! Maybe he genuinely believes his own lies at this point! It's been a long time, his ego is swollen, the power has gone to his head, maybe he's convinced himself that the Primes just bored him, or maybe he's truly always been an apathetic twit. But either way, why in the world would Sentinel admit to vulnerabilities in any of his villain speeches to his enemies?

During Sentinel's encounter with the Quintessons, you can see that he's TERRIFIED of them. (For good reason! They're scary here!) Maybe he betrayed the Primes partially out of fear for his own survival; because he thought that brokering a deal of submission was the only way out of the war for himself. But this golden Prime, sole ruler of Cybertron, after years upon years of smiling tyranny, is probably not going to admit to his old foe, his living mistake, Alpha Trion, that he was and still is scared out of his damn mind.

(EDIT: One of the things that Sentinel says to Alpha Trion is that he had to spend half of his time watching the Primes "lose a war" and the other half of his time listening to them go on about "honor". I think the first part of that sentence demands some attention. Sentinel potentially genuinely thought that the Primes were going to lose the war! Or he's just insulting Alpha Trion because he's an asshole and he can, but it's possible that part of his motivation is that he lost hope and saw surrender as the only avenue of escape.)

Sentinel stole Megatronus's transformation cog! He set himself up as a false Prime! There's a lot to be inferred there about envy and jealousy and a desire for glory and worship. We don't know the exact societal setup under the original Primes, but it was also wartime, so maybe Sentinel's life as a not-Prime during a grueling war sucked somehow and his resentment eventually boiled over. Maybe his life was actually pretty good and he just snapped because he wanted everything. But either way, this smug villain high on his victory, boasting to his prisoners, is not going to suddenly admit to seething feelings of inferiority and/or confess the details of his wartime suffering to STARSCREAM.

It's possible that Sentinel genuinely thought that he was meant to be a Prime! Maybe he thought that the Matrix needed someone new to wield it to be effective! Maybe Sentinel used to be religious and thought that the war was going badly because the wrong person had the Matrix and thus Primus was unhappy with them all. But then the Matrix straight-up dissolved in his hands and his dreams and faith all came crashing down! (I'm aware that there's no proof of this! My point is...) But someone as proud as Sentinel is not going to talk about the excruciating dismay of not being considered worthy to the likes of D-16! Sentinel is too busy being cruel!

Like, I do understand personally not enjoying Sentinel as a villain! That's fine! I liked him, but I will easily agree that there are tweaks that could have been made to give him greater depth, to show greater depth, as could have been done with all of the characters here. I would argue that his relative simplicity allowed for more room for the arcs of Optimus Prime and Megatron, but he could have definitely been more interesting. For sure! They could have given him some different scenes where he might actually voice more vulnerabilities.

But it bugged me from a general characterization standpoint that this lying liar who lies might be taken entirely at face value regarding his motivations. Especially when talking to his enemies. Like, come on.

I'd say that Tri, Last Kizuna and 02 The Beggining are a tad of a weird approach to try and bank into nostalgia, but not letting go the concept of "no you have to say goodbye to the 'mons"... which doesn't work after 02's epilogue. And then Adventure 2020 happened, and forgot that it was supposed to be an assemble show.

I don't have a problem with nostalgia banking, but Last Evolution Kizuna wanted really badly to be Toy Story 3 and failed. That, I take a lot of issue with.

There's a lot of heated debate surrounding LEK. The idea that the kids' partnerships with their Digimon break because it's time to put away childish things and grow up is extremely contentious within the fandom, but it's also not universally agreed that the film is even saying that thanks to translation issues with the subs and also some very ambiguous imagery with the ending.

There are basically two different interpretations of what happens in LEK.

1 - Sora, Taichi, Yamato, Jou, Mimi, and Koushiro all lose their Digimon Partners because they enter adulthood - but not Takeru and Hikari because they still have a few years to go.

This is a natural occurrence and the result of growing up. They have no choice and no agency in the matter; The Universe takes their Partners away because they're too old to be playing with toys anymore, and they just need to fucking suck it up and deal.

2 - Sora, Taichi, and Yamato lose their Digimon Partners because they're too irresponsible with their adulthood. Mimi, Jou, and Koushiro do not because they're responsible adults and are balancing their adult lives and their love for their Partners well.

What happens to Sora, Taichi, and Yamato is a rare and unusual occurrence, but there is hope that they will one day find their Partners again once they've gotten their heads on straight and made their way as adults.

For obvious reasons, the film is very unpopular with fans who take the first interpretation and pretty well-liked with fans who take the second. Which one is actually the valid and intended reading? Well. It's complicated. The movie went through a tumultuous creative process, to the point that Adventure series director Kakado Hiroyuki walked out on production midway through over disagreements and inconsistencies to the original series.

Which is, y'know, always a promising sign for a new entry in a series.

Watching the film, for me, it honestly feels like both readings are intended. Which is to say, you can find evidence to support either/or. I don't think that's deliberate, I just think the film was sloppily made and shows signs of conflicting creative visions.

Proponents of the Good Movie interpretation can point to the villain of the film, whose central motivation is literally that having your Partner taken away because you grew up is some fucking bullshit. In its final act, the film reveals that her Partner did come back - Just in an unrecognizably different form, not as the Partner she knew.

So the natural conclusion then is that Agumon and Gabumon will reincarnate and may find their way back to Taichi and Yamato; They just won't be Agumon and Gabumon. Which still contradicts the 02 epilogue despite proponents of the Good Movie interpretation insisting that 02's epilogue is still canon to LEK.

Which itself has evidence to support it (Taichi and Yamato are on their way to becoming the people they are in the epilogue) and evidence to refute it (Agumon and Gabumon fucking died).

As the translation breakdown in the above link shows, there's also some phrasing issues that created confusion. Gennai in the official English version describes losing your Partnership as a typical occurrence while, in the original Japanese, he seems to describe this more like a rare thing that he doesn't fully understand.

It's explained that what's happening is the narrowing of potential. Children have infinite potential, which something something Digimon Partnerships. As you make choices with your life, you narrow your potential, and eventually it can no longer sustain a partnership - Unless you're able to become an adult with limitless potential anyway!

That seems like it's setting Taichi and Yamato up to figure out their shit and save their Partnerships at the last second. But they figure out their shit and still lose their Partners, which gets described in the end as a rite of passage.

The blog with the big translation breakdown I linked above makes a note of the difference between the official translation, "This is how we finally grew up," and a more accurate translation, "This is how we arrived at the entrance to adulthood." As they say, it shouldn't be translated with finality.

But that's splitting hairs, because either version is still saying that losing Agumon and Gabumon was Taichi and Yamato's rite of passage from childhood into adulthood. Whether they've become adults or taken their first steps into adulthood doesn't actually matter; it's still describing this loss as the gateway that brought them there, which is the point of contention.

They did what they were supposed to do, they were still punished for it, and then they close by describing it as if it were an inevitable consequence of growing up despite what Gennai said. Which may or may not be corroborated by what happened to Jou, Mimi, and Koushiro.

Proponents of the Good Movie interpretation will point to Jou, Mimi, and Koushiro as proof that not everyone loses their Partners. Proponents of the Bad Movie interpretation will point to those same characters as proof that everyone does. This is due to a fundamental disagreement in how you interpret the final scenes.

At no point does the film ever say, with words, that Jou, Mimi, and Koushiro lose their Partners. But it does conclude with these images:

The final shots of Taichi, Yamato, and Sora show them to be moving forward with their adult lives, with no Digimon. The younger kids Takeru and Hikari's slides contain Patamon and Tailmon. There are also slides for the 02 characters, which show their Digimon Partners still taking an active role in their lives too.

But Jou, Koushiro, and Mimi? No Partners in their slides.

Good Movie fans will say that the film never says explicitly that they lost their Partners, so this means nothing. Their partners are probably just offscreen somewhere.

Bad Movie fans will say that these slides are meant to show the older kids moving on with their lives post-Digimon and the younger kids still having their Digimon Partnerships. There's a clear contrast between Hikari and Takeru's slides versus Taichi, Yamato, and Sora's - and Jou, Koushiro, and Mimi are presented like Taichi, Yamato, and Sora here, not like Hikari and Takeru.

Good Movie fans have the counterpoint to be made that their Partners still exist in 02's epilogue. So, y'know, canon faithfulness says that everyone's Digimon will come back or was never lost. Checkmate, naysayers.

But also Last Evolution Kizuna basically ignores Tri and makes no attempt to address the questions it left hanging, and also the Adventure story director walked out of production over inconsistencies to the original so I don't think you can really use canon faithfulness as a talking point here.

Taichi and Yamato are still on their way to becoming an ambassador and an astronaut respectively, so the epilogue hasn't been thrown out entirely. But it clearly has been thrown out. Jou was supposed to become a doctor in the Digital World, Sora was supposed to become a fashion designer instead of inheriting her mom's ikebana mastery, and Mimi was supposed to become a chef instead of selling cosmetics.

Yeah, Taichi and Yamato are still on-track to a similar life path than what the epilogue gave them, but nobody else is. So I don't think the movie is actually as faithful to 02 as the Good Movie side thinks it is. And apparently neither does Kakado Hiroyuki.

For me, I do think they were trying to say it's time for the kids to put away childish things and grow up. I don't think they meant that to be insulting. But I do think it's kind of insulting.

I think they were trying to do what Toy Story 3 did; To tell a story about the rite of passage from childhood to adulthood and what that means for the things we loved and enjoyed as kids. But I don't think that story works when the putting away of childish things is something cosmically forced on the children rather than a choice they make with their own agency.

Toy Story 3 wouldn't have landed the way it did if the movie was about Andy's mom pinning him down by the arms while garbagemen come in and throw Buzz and Woody into a woodchipper. But that's kind of what Last Evolution Kizuna does to the Adventure kids.

Taichi and Yamato get to give a powerful emotional farewell to Agumon and Gabumon. But they don't want to, they are not making this choice for themselves, and no reason is ever provided for why they should have to. And even the best defenses of the film just make it out to be a weird, random cosmic blip that maybe they'll fix some day, who knows.

Even in the best-case scenario, the universe just decided to grievously hurt Yamato and Taichi for no reason even though they were already making strides to undo the thing they were allegedly being punished for. It's still mean-spirited and cruel even in the best possible interpretation.

So. Yeah. All things considered, I find myself falling on the side of "It's a bad movie and I don't accept it as part of my personal Digimon canon." I don't accept that the children need to all have their Digimon deleted once they enter into adulthood, and I equally don't accept that they don't need to have that happen but that Taichi and Yamato deserved to have their Digimon ripped away from them at the end. There is no version of this movie that I actually like.

it’s been rumored that dick will appear in the next battinson movie (please matt reeves do it for the people 🛐) but i was wondering magic wand, full creative control ceded to you, what villain(s) would you want to see featured? i love what they did with the riddler in the first, managing to maintain a level of camp and absurdity while still positioning him as a dangerous and serious threat. same with the penguin and falcone. i’ve seen rumors that hush may be the central villain in the sequel? which would not be my first choice, but i’m also not mad at it

obviously (hopefully) if they’re doing dick they’ll include tony zucco but beyond him what would be your dream villain(s) appearance? (and who would you cast! if you have one in mind)

if i had full creative control via magic wand i think there’s only one right answer — an actual batman film where two face is the primary antagonist.

hush super sucks for a lot of reasons, not least because his whole shtick only works if a) tommy elliot is well established in canon prior to faking his death and b) bruce has the sufficient pool of allies to make the story beats work. the batman canon has neither. cringe. get him outta here.

unlike a lot of gotham rogues, harvey dent has a relationship with both batman and bruce wayne. he’s a literal symbol of what bruce is trying to achieve in costume. he represents how a lack of supportive infrastructure can harm anyone, even those trying to do good. his internal morality, his desperate desire for control when he lost everything by another’s actions, is a really really good foil to the batman mythos.

i also think he’d continue the riddlers ideology from the first film — here’s someone who does want to change things for the better, and loses literally everything by doing so. harvey in general is just a really interesting character who’s never gotten proper respect on screen, and i think that’s a shame!! he’s a really fascinating dude!! his relationship with bruce as a civilian might inspire bruce to develop his public persona. so many options!

in an ideal world, dick grayson would feature in the first half of the film, then two face in the second. you’d have to ignore long halloween + dark victory canon to make this work, but that’s fine. maybe harvey would be disfigured while in court with zucco — a fun connection to the acid that snapped the graysons lines. harvey also has an interesting history with robin, and this would be a great start to that too.

idk who id pick to cast — someone who could portray harveys trauma in a way that’s engaging rather than disrespectful. if colin farrell hadn’t already played the penguin id say he’d be a pretty good choice. michael b jordan or daniel kaluuya would also do a phenomenal job, and keep him around the same age as bruce. someone very charismatic and charming. as long as it isn’t jacob elordi or tom holland i think there’s a lot of potential

Summary:

You lose three mates, ten babies, both parents, all your siblings and then every friend for scores of millennia and still entertain the concept of being 'sweet' on a dead woman still consumed by her own pain. Doing It never had much meaning to Robin, even when he was alive. Now that he's dead, it's really just something to while away all the years. At some point, he's asked most of the ghosts if they want to do it. Some said no, some said yes. His only rule is, they have to genuinely want to do it, too. And, they mustn't be too sad. One of the ghosts was too sad, for so long, so he waited. And waited.

Notes: The first two chapters of this fic are an amusing exploration of caveman sex and the boredom that comes with eternal purgatory but the last chapter is where it gets really, really good. Genuinely one of the most poignant and devastating explorations of grief I've ever read, I cannot recommend it enough.

Multiple mysterious, macabre deaths. Unruly electrics. Blurry shapes in photos. St Elmo's Fire. Burning smells, a mysterious, singing voice in the cellar. Rumours of witchcraft, an ancient amulet and visions of Satan himself. Is the land truly cursed? Or is this just a place of 250,000 years worth of human sadness?

Notes: I only wanted to include one work from each author but I couldn't take this off my list. The only way I can describe this fic is clever. It's one of those things you just have to experience for yourself. Criminally underrated. Just read all of Scriblit's work, I'm their biggest fan.

Summary:

Green Party Fundraiser Time! Rachel Fawcett comes to Button House, despite struggling with her feelings regarding a certain extremely unfortunate death there. Ghosts and the living alike are thrown into turmoil, especially when it begins to look like someone at the event may be attempting to harm the up-and-coming young politician. Can Julian stand idly by? Well, he's a ghost, so yeah, he has to.

Notes: This fic has it all; father/daughter bonding, a murder mystery and plenty of tory bashing. My entire perception of who Rachel Fawcett is comes from this fic, I was almost glad we never met her in canon as the author does such a fantastic job characterising her.

Notes: There is a severe lack of both Kitty-centric and Mary/Annie fic in this fandom and this fic covers both bases. Just a really excellent Kitty character study and a great exploration of grief

Wedding season approaches at Button House and, for once, everything is going off without a hitch. Of course, there’s the slight issue of Pat’s recent epiphany about his sexuality, Kitty’s determination to get her hands on as much badly-written erotica as possible, and the peasants becoming decidedly revolting. Still, if only the ghosts can refrain from murdering any of the builders, Alison is fairly sure they can pull this off. Or, Pat and the Captain negotiate coming out, even if it's only to each other.

Notes: Even if you, like myself, aren't a Patcap shipper, this fic is worth the read solely for the the subplot about the Plague Ghosts staging a leftist uprising. The perfect blend of comedy and heartfelt moments, this fic feels like it could have been an actual episode of Ghosts.

Don't Let The Good Life Pass You By by Impossibly_Izzy (@impossiblyizzy)

Summary:

Notes: Crack treated seriously is one of my fav AO3 genres and this fic is the cream of the crop. Despite being a Patcap fic, all the characters reactions to living in the modern world were explored in a detailed and hysterical way. I think about the scene where the whole gang goes to the pub constantly.

Summary:

In a miraculous world where they have the ability to see ghosts, the Fab 5 descend upon Button House to transform the Captain (and, well, everyone).

Notes: Exactly what it says on the tin. Just pure hijinks, I can't fault it. Don't let the script format put you off, the author has done an excellent job of characterising everyone's voice

Notes: Another fic that really feels like it could be an actual episode. Very funny and also provides an explanation to the ghosts' pee turning to dust thing that has been bothering me since last Christmas so honestly you should just read it for that. Ship content is minor if Julicap isn't your thing (it's not really mine either)

Notes: Very sweet addition to the season 4 finale. Would have loved to see something like this in season 5 but this is almost as good.

findhelp.org is the biggest aggregator of resources in the US, and if you're in a bad way (or if something is on the horizon that would put you in a bad way) it's worth looking through

if you reach out to the american red cross or united way for something they can't handle in-house, there's a good chance the caseworker is using findhelp to locate potential avenues of assistance

input your ZIP code to filter out programs that don't service your location, then you can filter by several categories based on what you're looking for help with. not all of them will be relevant to your situation, but i live in a pretty rural area and it's got just under 1,900 program results between the 10 categories.

if you check a subcategory and don't see what you're looking for there, try other similar subcategories just to make sure you aren't missing out on something.

just based on the work i've done helping people the past few months, here are some things i've noticed:

if you have money to pay some bills but not all of them, turn off auto pay for everything, then you'll generally want to prioritize rent/mortgage and your cell phone bill if you can.

do everything you can to not lose your cell phone number, even if that means transferring it to a really cheap prepaid service. if you can't help but lose the number, please reach out to someone beforehand and let them know where you are and where they might be able to get ahold of you (i.e. by calling a local library you intend to frequent, contacting your email, etc.). i frequently speak with friends and family members trying to help someone they lost contact with and i cannot stress enough how few options there are for locating and reconnecting people. if you're using a free calling/texting app on your phone, please make note of the phone number someone can call you back at. (also, they tend to rely on strength of wi-fi signal for clear service, there's a possibility a slow public wi-fi connection could make the call choppy.)

seek help early. some programs have caps on how much money you can request (this can make getting enough money to catch up on multiple missed payments difficult), or will only help after you meet a certain need threshold (this sucks, the US is deeply broken), but it's better to know the criteria ahead of time so you can reach out to them again later. and if that's not a requirement for the resource you reach out to, even better.

a lot of programs are likely to have turnaround times longer than you would like, and very few places have different tiers of urgency. if you expect to get an eviction notice or a utility shutoff notice, start looking for assistance ASAP, because if your landlord gives you a week to pay or get out, sometimes processing your application with a resource can take that whole week.

have exact dates and numbers, always keep record of the bills that are unpaid, whether it's emails, screenshots of online payment portals saved to your phone, or paper bills

it's demoralizing if you reach out to a bunch of places and they can't help. however, you should keep reaching out while you're still in a position where you can. the more people you talk to, the more likely you are to find someone especially knowledgeable who can point you in the right direction, because the people you reach out to will vary so widely in terms of expertise and ability to assist: you may reach people who are paid employees with very specific training and little else to offer beyond that, you may meet brand new volunteers who are eager to help but need time to ask others for advice, or you might talk to career employees/seasoned volunteers who can get you set on the right path even if their organization can't help personally

you should apply for state and federal resources also. some places will only help if you're turned down by the government, or government aid is insufficient, so that's always a good avenue to try first.

Hey...I want to post the question here to see if more people agree. Is it sad Izu lost to Shoto? He sacdificed his win for his classmate. YES, Izu helping Shoto is good (not arguing against that) but ...I may ne reaching but like if you think about it...Izu is sort "cleaning" the mess Endy did.

But even if I'm wrong on this aspect...I still find so...sad Izu had to give up on winning. Look, I get it fire is very hard to beat unless Izu uses some gadget - MEI WAS RIGHT THERE IZU lol- but still....he had to give up winning and come on, you know Izu has 0 wins in his life.

I think if Izu had won the Sports Festival more heroes would approach him...(50/50 his quirk still sucks) and we could see Izu being praised...but Hori 😒

Personally, I do feel like it was sad for Izuku in the moment to have lost especially when he felt like he had to win to make All Might proud.

However, on the flip side of things, Izuku threw the match, upon hearing Todoroki's backstory to aim to get him to overcome the trauma of his fire side of his quirk when the smart thing to do would have been to not help him and let him freeze himself.

That highlights the difference between Izuku and Bakugou by the way, Bakugou wanted to win against an opponent at full strength which is why he tried to goad Todoroki into using his flames. Whereas Izuku aimed to save him, Izuku also gained himself a loyal friend in Todoroki by doing this, which means many overlook Izuku's disappointment in losing. (Thankfully we hear AM is proud of Izuku for doing this later.)

Also can we talk about how this move should have got Izuku more hero offers? He threw his chance at 'glory' to save/help someone else, the other heroes were there while Izuku was literally shouting at Todoroki about using his flames. That's a fundamental part of being a hero right there! Guys! The heroes are sitting on Izuku's potential, not many students would do that, especially at the stage he had got to in the tournament !

As for if Izuku had won against Todoroki and made it to the final round... Hori would have made Bakugou absolutely obliterate Izuku because we all know how far his favoritism for Boom Boom boy goes. 😒

It's not that OFA is made from useless quirks it's more that Hori barely gave them any thought and wastes them. Like he's just barely going through the motions of OFA for 'plot' as fast as possible so he can get to writing what he enjoys... Namely Bakugou and Endeavor. *Sighs.*

I do believe/agree that Wilbur's mental health has played a role in his actions and the loss of his friends. But I don't think or believe that makes him a shitty person. I believe that Wilbur is aware that his mental health isn't good but I don't believe he knew or realized how bad it was getting and how it was affecting those around him. It is possible those around also didn't know or realize how bad it was until this situation happened. (Otherwise, if they did, they choose to ignore it for whatever reason until they couldn't) 

He can’t change what happened, he can’t undo what he did/done, he can't magically change his habits, magically unlearn any bad or toxic coping mechanisms his brain learned, but he can try.  What does it take to change? Making and acknowledging mistakes, grace from those around you, and most importantly, time. Growth is not instantaneous. You don’t immediately change into a good or better person or friend, and lapsing back into old habits doesn't mean they're not trying. People lapsed back into their bad habits or their old lifestyle because that’s either where they felt safe, a coping mechanism, or it's what they know. Because even if you know you're a mess and you want to do better you're going to struggle with change if your situation still encourages old behaviors. Sometimes people try to overcome those patterns and they fail and that sucks, but what matters is if they keep trying and do not give up on themselves.

The best way for a person to not give up on themselves? A good support system, not one of those where if you slip up once then they decide you're either a disappointment at best or an irredeemable monster at worst. So glad he still has the band with him at least and was hoping (and then disappointed) that he would still have some of his MC friends. Everyone deserves a person in their corner -no matter who- and everyone deserves a chance to change. Isolating them or throwing them to the wolves doesn’t help them or others grow and change, it just makes them scared to make and/or acknowledge their mistakes. 

If you kick someone when they’re down, they may never get back up. Others sending death threats, doxing, and making harmful edits is doing nothing to help him, help her, or help others. All it does is stroke your morally righteous ego. It’s disheartening to see how many people think threats, hate, doxing, and de-platforming are the only solutions to an issue with a content creator, even ones who acknowledged/admitted they were in the wrong and want to grow and change. De-platforming should only be reserved for creators who are currently an active danger to others with said platform. (Like if they're sending/making hate campaigns, doxing people's home addresses, sharing private info only for hurting the other party, etc.) Someone who is making an effort to change is not an active danger in my eyes, so I don’t believe that they deserve to lose all the things they’ve worked towards/for. It’s also why I find it a bit upsetting that this was made public without any attempt to try and find a resolution in private.

I get and understand that she was hurt but bringing an issue to the Internet and throwing them to the Twitter/Internet hate mob isn’t the only way to hold someone accountable and I hate that it seems to be becoming the norm with how to deal with these issues. I know that Wilbur may not be innocent, but he's not some manipulative irredeemable monster nor is he an innocent angel who did no wrong. He's just a person. And people are complex, situations are complex.

Everyone has the potential for redemption or being rehabilitated. Instead of throwing away the people we deem as 'evil' without any support or attempt to help them improve, we should be trying to understand and support them. We need to understand why people behave or do the things they do so that 1) We can help them so they won't end up hurting others, 2) Recognize what the patterns and cycles are so we can break them, and 3) Be able to recognize the signs so we can help others and nip the problem in the bud before it gets worse. Recognizing the potential of people who do wrong to improve, encouraging them to do better, and giving them a path to a better future is the way we end this cycle and prevent the creation of future victims.

I hope Wilbur learns from his mistakes and does his best to rectify them. I hope that he doesn't get completely cut off from every friendship he ever made. I hope he works to regain the trust of the people who were once close to him (if he wants to). I hope and want Wilbur to heal, improve, better himself, and be happy with himself. (The same sentiment goes toward Tommy and Shelby)

(Sorry for the long rant, I just have a lot to say and nowhere to really say it, so I hope all these words made sense. Also, hopefully this doesn't sound or come across as me being rude or that I was yelling or lecturing at you, I wasn't. And I got off topic a bit, sorry about that.)

Really having a bad time right now as a Ukrainian. Like, USians can at least turn to local politics and state issues to do something. As much as the coming term has the potential to suck monumentally, US politics are not ended just yet

Gaza is a big topic here on Tumblr, and the average Gazan is certainly having a worse time right now than your average Ukrainian. But then, the rock bottom was already in sight there, and as much as Trump is gonna take things from bad to worse, the core dynamic is probably staying the same

But back home, even though the going is tough and fighting is bitter, yesterday I could see a path to victory. It was long and thorny and twisting but there was hope to be had. Not for 2025, but maybe 2026 or 2027.

That path is well gone now, if the dates weren't enough of an indication. And I do not know what to turn to anymore. It's not like you can local politics your way out of losing a full scale war. Russia has already been performing deeds matching the annoyingly-specific legal definition of genocide wherever they get their foothold in Ukraine in. I don't want to think what will they do if they get all of it. Worst case scenario it may end up just like Gaza is right now except many times bigger and with nobody caring. Best case? I guess my country is "just" reduced to an impoverished shamble with a frozen front.

I don't mean this to say Ukraine has made it out by far "the worst" out of the election. That's a thing that's foolish to be ranking in the first place, and the fact this war is a war at all is better than anyone was expecting in 2022. But, I don't know what to take solace in today. Forces so far outside of my control are making things so much worse. And all the things everyone around me is clinging onto seem hollow or ill-appicable.

I guess I'll try the good ol' Not Thinking About It. It will probably not work

I think the most heartbreaking thing about Wild losing his memory is the fact that he apparently lost the ability to swim with them. That or his injuries, what remains of them form the Shrine of Resurrection, make it so he can't swim as well as he used to. Because if he did grow up around the Zora's Domain as BotW implies, naturally, you'd think he'd be one of the best swimmers among the Heroes. But I game mechanics make it so he is actually one of the worst with the exception of potentially the downfall duo or maybe Four (all of whomever needed special items to learn although Legend may or may not be part of that anymore)

Yeah, I imagine he had to be a really good swimmer given all the time he spent in the Domain! It does suck. :( Stupid Calamity Ganon!

Hi, Moku!

It’s been awhile, and firstly, I just want to say I hope you’re good.

Secondly, I just needed to process this with someone. As I’m sure everyone has been well aware, Liam Payne died yesterday. All my love and support go to his family, friends and the rest of the boys right now. I was at work when I first saw the news, so I didn’t really have a chance to process and digest the news. I’m home now and sat on my bed crying for the past ten minutes, hopped in the shower, turned 1D on my speaker, and cried some more in the shower.

Now that I’ve digested the news, I have some thoughts to share. To everyone feeling conflicted about mourning his death after all the information came out about him being an abuser, I just want to say: I was 12 years old when I was introduced to One Direction-in sixth grade. They were my first concert, and one of the only things that got me through my formative years. I am 11 days away from my 25th birthday, and although I don’t support the person he became, I’m still mourning. Cause a piece of my childhood died yesterday; a piece that made life easier for me and I hold onto fondly. My point is this: you can mourn the memories and the person you were introduced to while also acknowledging he wasn’t a good person. There is no way 12 year old me could have known any of this, and for that reason, I’m allowing myself to cry.

Secondly, as I’ve previously mentioned, I’m a week and a half away from my 25th birthday. Halfway through my twenties; the age where people( at least those around me) say your childhood starts to disappear. And after yesterday, it’s really sunk in. It was a friend in high school that I lost, then the world lost Cameron Boyce (rip) a few years ago; now, Liam Payne. All of these aforementioned individuals shaped my formative years. I hold onto them as tightly as I can, all things considering. But, this close to my birthday, it’s made me realize, that part of me will never be back. I really am losing some of the best parts of the hardest time of my life. And that sucks. And for that, I mourn this loss.

Lastly, when One Direction broke up, it felt a little like my world as I knew it was ending. A part of my heart broke (though it may sound dramatic, it’s true. You associate many happy memories with something, losing it feels like heartbreak); everyone started talking about a potential reunion years from now. After all, Backstreet Boys got one; N’Sync got one. The Jonas Brothers got one, as did Big Time Rush. One Direction should have been next. The boys were all pursuing solo endeavors and I supported them all through those, even though I wished for a reunion. My older cousins, my mom all got to see their favorite bands reunite; and I was hoping that opportunity would arise for me, too. I mourn that loss, as well.

To conclude, to all those in shock right now and struggling to process this news, struggling with conflicting feelings, I want you to know I’m right here with you. A person who was part of one of the best years of my life died, and those years died with him. I’ll still look back super fondly on those years, but there will also be this ache of what could have been in my heart. And I’m not sure that will go away. I’m right here, and I’m supporting us all through this. Again, my love goes to his son, parents, siblings, friends, girlfriend, and the boys. If I’m feeling this much pain, I can only imagine how much hurt they’re experiencing.
