If I were to start writing brocedes fic, what is some key lore I should definitely know/be aware of going into this? I'm fairly new to f1 and discovering all kinds of new ships and brocedes, galex, and lestappen are my top 3. But I think brocedes is the ship that has truly sunk its teeth into me, lol.

I know all the TikTok edits always include the Barcelona16 crash and it IS dramatic but it gives the false impression they were constantly crashing each other out on purpose to win, which was absolutely not the case. I can think of like 3 times where they touched with only barcelona16 leading to a double DNF and even that had a mechanical fault with nico's setup, so they were generally very clean racers

okay so. a lil bit of backstory: i had a semi-wild teen life, ykno? like. not as crazy as ~american high school movies but in the context of the country i grew up in? pretty unreal. there were parties and alcohol and weed and a lot of hooking up. so much petty drama. so much irreverence.

point is: i dont like it when teens are portrayed as some pure, untouched, prudish creatures who've never heard of fun or drugs or sex. it just doesnt fit with what i know.

and i fully believe that hogwarts--a boarding school where kids have MAGIC (which really just means unending possibilites)--was a place where the students went wilddd. one of the ways? dorm parties. u have these private spaces for just you and like. 5 others. u can do a shit ton with ur wand. why wouldnt u use it for parties ykno?

so yeah, i think the common room had larger parties after like. quidditch wins and end of exams, but bc its more people and more younger kids, u had to be more careful. dorm parties tho? smaller, more intimate, and ur with the people u know/trust so crazier shit will happen.

the marauders were invited to a lot of them in the girls dorms (and vice versa) and ykno. they went to a lot. bc teen boys and girls. it was all very scandalous--booze and short skirts and shirts unbuttoned off their shoulders and hazy smoke filling the room and lipstick marks smeared over chins and necks and the like--and incredibly fun. just kids being kids, yeah?

lily, though. i've long been playing w the idea that her friendship w snape (and chastisement of james--and sirius, to a lesser extent) came w a substantial social cost. her defending someone who was so shady didnt win her any points and i hc as her a person who hid her insecurity w self righteousness (on top of just. being a bit of an abrasive person) which didn't win her additional favors. so even her dormmates maintained a certain distance and the dorm parties didn't often include her. she only found out accidentally when she went up to the room it was happening in to get a book back and saw everyone buzzed out and dancing and more relaxed (intimate) than she'd ever seen.

it was genuinely a huge shock when she saw the boys sprawled across the room in varying stages of undress (james had a girl and a guy on a thigh each, arms wrapped around both waists; sirius was hanging upside down w a joint dangling from his lips and its a wonder he didnt choke himself to death) and she squeaked out of the room in a moment of severe cultural shock.

it was only later that she worked herself into moral outrage and just. hurt-filled anger type stuff, ykno? her roommates sort of had to give her a reality check in that moment. the marauders only blinked at her in bemusement, amused at her high-handed attempts to manage them.

ireland is uniquely feisty- she will gladly fight until the very end for causes even if the belief in them wanes over time. she refuses to back down from anything even if it causes her bodily harm, and while that has caused some issues down the line overall it just makes her look like kind of a badass.

her childhood was.. rough! to say the least. i don't know who her parent(s) is(are?) but it was pretty young they "disappeared" (died) and she (and her sister) were took in (like half-kidnapped) by the uk and were treated absolutely great (awfully he hated their asses for no reason) for like, all of their life. the uk was an absolutely shit dad to them thats for sure

eventually ireland left her adoptive parent but her sister was still too young to which. Agh fuck the troubles augh. oooow fuck the troubles ahhhhhhhh yeah ireland couldnt really do shit because she was, ykno, not in custody of northern ireland or whatever. so that sucked

anyways ireland (and her sister) are pretty good friends with germany vietnam and bosnia on the basis of the fact that the two want to do the same as all three of the others did, being fusion. the two just want a united ireland but NI is still under uks control so thats not happening for a while lol! (also in northern irish politics its barely a majority that wants to unite with ireland so thats another reason i suppose? perhaps NI in the ch world isn't too keen on the idea but it warming up to it. anything to get away from that bastard of a parent)

some misc stuff i suppose, she's catholic. i imagine she gets together with other catholic countries to celebrate christmas and whatnot. she enjoys reading and is rather good at winning arguments on technicalities. she's honestly pretty selfless most of the time despite her fierceness for loved ones.

(if anyones curious and read this far and wants context, all that is known from the first entry is that Jiang Ximing (white hair, heptastar) taught them when they were younger and gifted them the star moon folding fan. Wu Ce then grew up to be very talented in astronomy and scheming. they then become a war strategist and are very successful which causes their superiors to grow jealous of them and the superiors set Wu Ce up. Wu Ce disappears after that and its implied that that's when they joined heptastar pavilion)

[chin hands] omegaverse difanghua is s o interesting and it would be double the interesting if feihua were both alphas, and emotionally constipated in their own unique ways. it puts their rivalship in new light bc, ykno, alphas are knotheads, who fight before anything else.

alphas fight to impress the one they want.

they fight to be viewed as an ideal mate.

they fight to establish an hierarchy amongst themselves.

they fight because it's the easiest way to protect those they want to protect.

di feisheng has only ever known that violence when he meets li xiangyi and li xiangyi is already too immersed sect politicking to care about anything beyond his sect, his pack. the superficiality of his reactions to di feisheng are like a mocking slap to feisheng's face because what feisheng is unconsciously looking for is not what li xiangyi is looking for. oh, not at all.

li xiangyi's already a topdog, and alphas go out of their way to bare their necks and bellies. of course it goes to his head, why wouldn't it. so he doesn't need to pay attention to dynamic behavior, doesn't need to see beyond feisheng challenging him as a rival sect leader.

and then ten years later, li lianhua is a broken, changed man; an alpha that disdains everything his dynamic is.

and di feisheng is still as he was, just more prone to alpha-rage and postering. the fact that li xiangyi is dead is something completely incompatible with him. he's spent ten years quietly denying a reality that would leave him totally isolated.

anyways this got real long and is more feihua than difanghua but listn

they both go thru the events of the series automatically assuming fang duobing is a bratty lil beta (he's not, hes a bratty lil omega uwu) because of how much a nonthreat he is, how much he coasts under their instinctual protective radars.

it's a combination of things, really. lianhua is a dying man, and he hasn't had regular ruts since he was first poisoned. feisheng never had regular ruts in the first place, and when his body went through the shock of simultaneously winning an alpha-fight, losing a potential mate, and almost dying, its biological equilibrium was fucked up. what this means is their bodies just aren't in the game. which means they aren't in the social game of playing their parts as alphas. yes, they both still have latent alpha instincts but it's incredibly easy for them to just ignore these instincts and function as dynamicless.

they are both also functionally packless alphas, and just don't consider fang duobing as someone who has their protection. that changes, of course, for li lianhua when he finds out who duobing's sperm doner father is. it begins to change when di feisheng has amnesia, and he's constantly in proximity with duobing and lianhua as ah-fei.

ok so i was talking abt this w isa a lot and ive been thinking abt this idea for hours now. camp au where you and han are both camp counselors at a camp you once went to during middle school... and absolutely hated each other then. no one knows what started it, all they know is that u and han are Enemies (who put up w one another for the kids) also i know nothing abt summer camp. play in this sandbox w me-

like. any time ur actually doing ur job? you and jisung get along great... maybe with some slight bickering, but nothing serious. you two play it off well enough that the kids dont catch on and think ur just rly good friends who make playful jabs at each other. theres definitely at least once instance where the two of you are getting heated and chris comes by and both of you are like nope! no problems here! jisung puts an arm around you like haha we are best friends :))) and then you immediately shove him away once chris is gone.

chris has a system in place where the two top counselors of the week get something special for their cabin (and get to take the truck into town for said special thing--sometimes its pizza, sometimes its ice cream, other times its like... special arts n crafts, etc) and literally all of the counselors kinda compete for it so they can get their own shit while they're in town. its usually felix or minho with someone else, and chris eventually sits reader and han down to be like "ok. ur both great w the kids. but i cant give you either of guys top counselor because you fight w each other so often."

which leads to them being on dishwashing duty again and bickering about it bc theyre blaming the other for it. and then you get the idea of "... what if... we just... pretend? i want my snacks and to get my kids origami paper. you want... whatever weird shit you want. chris would just assume we worked through shit." so they end up like. combining group activities for their cabins. switching around so they can be together again.

chris absolutely knows this is a ruse but if it gets them to get along, he'll just watch.

isa mentioned a boat scene where han and reader are in the same boat, watching their campers until they start bickering. it gets heated enough and the boat ends up capsizing, which. apparently han cant really swim? so just imagine reader immediately going to help him calm down since ykno. theyre all wearing life jackets. and the two of you are soaking wet and you get him back to the docks, wrapping a towel around him since the others are out on the lake. idk maybe a lil heart to heart while the two of you are waiting for ur fellow counselors to corral the kids back in.

chris lets u guys win at the end of the week and u both figure out what you wanna do for ur cabins. u settle on having a big ice cream party with all ur kids and teaching them how to make friendship bracelets sometime next week. chris hands the keys to you after he's like "dont. dont crash the car." and its just the two of u getting closer.

I read your soulmate trope reversal fic (where you either kill or get killed by your soulmate with Alex and Tim) and for worldbuilding reasons, I'd like to know what are (if any) the legal punishmengs?

Long story short: You still go to jail, because a murder is a murder.

Long story long: In this universe, soulmates are created by literally hating too much (to an unhealthy degree explicitily). Soulmates are, like, an aberration, so to say? To have a soulmate in this universe meant that you could not heal yourself, that you could not let it go, that you let it transform your whole life, your whole sense of self, just to hate another.

There's a lot of people whose only job in life is to help mediate this feelings, like, therapists but extreme. They're usually an emergency type of deal, think akin somewhat to suicide lines. In short, in this universe you're supposed to be able to notice what is going on and ask for help. (which, in turn, leads to a whole lot of social problems in the modern day thanks to the expectation this brings onto people).

Each murder case is carefully reviewed and can easily take years to decide if someone is guilty or not. In the modern age where this particular marble hornets fic takes place, extenuating circumstances can lead to a minor sentence, since, i didn't exactly talk a lot about it in the fic, soulmates can be one-sided.

Not all soulmates kill *directly* the other part. Sometimes it can be just as simple as "you focused so much on *this* one person adn trying to take them down that you forgot to look both sides of the street before crossing". So, having a soulmate is not automatically a "this person is a murderer" sign but, a lot of people take it that way.

Usually, if you are too late to prevent a soulmate from happening, you're legally obligated to do as much as possible to remove all possible risks that you end up taking that other's person life. [Of course, it's not a perfect system, because soulmates are, well, an aberration. A poison to your mind, so to say. If you dont kill the other (or if they dont die) you will slowly lose your mind to the obsession of killing that other person. But for society, if someone ends up "crazy" bc they couldnt kill a person and nobody dies? for them its a win, so, uh, ykno, nice things to think about]

Depending on the nature of the homicide, it can be as short as 4 years to involuntary commitment for life [the case of the woman that Tim met in the psychiatric ward as a child].

In Tim's case, thanks to the nature of the Operator making society forget about its victim [a fav headcanon of mine tbh] the crime would never be found and he would get scot-free. Also thanks to the lack of body, and ergo lack of evidence unless someone finds the channel, Tim would never end up in jail, though he would probably end up having to change his name so he could live his life relatively free.

However, if Tim ever ended up getting charged with the crime, he would probably have to do between 4 to 8 years but he would probably have the option to declare extenuating circumstances (with the meds, the stalking, etc etc) so he could get free with parole after a year and a half or two.

Anyways, if Tim ended up in jail, i doubt he would live long tho.

But basically that, lol. I have a lot of thoughts about this particular soulmate universe and the way it works, and when I wrote that fic, I quite liked the idea of exploring how twisting a soulmate could impact someone, plus i am a nerd for worldbuilding

The only way I can even accept the betrayal of the Potters being universally regarded as so horrible in the Wizarding World is because it almost let Voldemort win. I’m guessing that somehow people knew the attack on the Potters was instrumental in the war, in terms of Voldemort’s plans, because otherwise it makes no real sense about why this particular attack is seen as so awful (everyone knows the story and regards it as one of the worst events of the First War, but like, entire families got wiped out in the war but we only really hear of it by Moody showing Harry the Order photo and telling him their tragic fates and possibly Molly talking about her brothers. Neville’s parents were tortured to death, we’re told this caused an uproar, yet we hear jack about it for years?). I can buy the public thinking Sirius was a spy after the Potters attack (people who knew Sirius should have asked questions though, since they knew how much Sirius loved James and guess what else? There’s nobody who could 100% say Sirius was the Secret Keeper; while everyone believed he was, there was no actual confirmation anyone could provide since he very much was not the SK), but the whole “right hand” thing makes no sense. Where’d they get “he was second in command” from “he betrayed two people and worked for Voldemort, killing 12 muggles and an old friend with one spell”? Who even makes a spy second in command? Why did nobody interrogate Voldemort’s supposed right hand for information on the Death Eaters, since it took a while to find the remaining members and they still missed some, and Voldemort’s alleged second would surely have that information?
