truly the coward's way out narratively. entirely generic finish. ends up saying nothing besides 'friendships is my power.' also entirely gutless to have clive's father secretly be anti slavery all along when one of the first scenes in the game is a slave cowering before his son.

god i'm so glad hte ff games are so distinct from each other nad lack the same teams working on them so the taint of this one will like... barely affect my enjoyment of the others but like...

character wise? barely any development i didn't even cry when peopel died because it's like... why should i care? i have been shown clive bonding with you for five seconds. i enjoyed the CONCEPT of a few characters but they were handled poorly

like dion being RIDDLED with guilt but then in his last moments he apologizes to his FATHER??? NOT THE CITY HE DESTROYED???

this story lacked joy but also lacked emotional ties. it misses the camp of past ff titles and fills it with a grit that is so trend chasing it weighs exactly nothing.

everything is muddled. all this game says is like... free will exists, friendship is power, monarchy is fine though

I think one big reason why we don't consider the stars as important as before (not even pop-astrology anymore cares about the stars or the sky on itself, just the signs deprived of context) is because of light pollution.

For most of human history the sky looked between 1-3, 4 at most. And then all of a sudden with electrification it was gone (I'm lucky if I get 6 in my small city). The first time I saw the Milky Way fully as a kid was a spiritual experience, I was almost scared on how BRIGHT it was, it felt like someone was looking back at me. You don't get that at all with modern light pollution.

When most people talk about stargazing nowadays they think about watching about a couple of bright dots. The stars are really, really not like that. The unpolluted night sky is a festival of fireworks. There is nothing like it.

The secret Dungeon Meshi sauce that's getting people to eat better is that it's so non-judgmental. Senshi and the rest of the gang never talk about what not to eat besides things that taste bad and literal poison. They don't even talk about "health" that much besides the importance of a balanced diet. It's so much easier to eat well when you think of food simply as something your body needs, and that it's often worth the extra effort to make it taste good, especially when you understand how to connect "things your body needs" with "things that taste good"

the funniest meltdown ive ever had was in college when i got so overstimulated that i could Not speak, including over text. one of my friends was trying to talk me through it but i was solely using emojis because they were easier than trying to come up with words so he started using primarily emojis as well just to make things feel balanced. this was not the Most effective strategy... until. he tried to ask me "you okay?" but the way he chose to do that was by sending "👉🏼👌🏼❓" and i was so shocked by suddenly being asked if i was dtf that i was like WHAT????
