Goodreads review pet peeves:

--using gifs

--using photos of people you imagine as the leads (which are always like, 10 years out of date, or like, Victoria's Secret Angels for the girl next door heroine, Henry Cavill, Henry Cavill, and Henry Cavill, especially when the hero is described as: scarred, kinda ugly, GIANT, blond, brutish, none of which describes Henry Cavill)

--"I love a man in uniform" okay blue lives matter

--"I loved this book.... but the heroine was SUCH a bitch, he deserved better!!!" [heroine had an active role in the plot, basically]

--"it just bothered me that he used violence against her" [consensual spanking]

--"I just wish authors would keep their pOLITICS out of MY BOOKS" [hero or heroine expressed regard for basic human rights]

--"I miss accurate historicals" [there was one (1) person of color who may or may not be a lead and wasn't suffering, OR the heroine is not a virgin and is not a widow]

#romance novel blogging #there are so many more #the thing about GR is that. highkey. many of the top romance reviewers are conservative cishet white women #lol let's say the quiet part loud here #and don't get me wrong... many reviewers are great #but when i see these voices uplifted and then know that ppl are dismissing like #interesting progressive books bc the top review is a 1 star from january 6th janet #.... it pisses me off #and ofc this is especially an issue w historicals lbr #it's not even the majority of reviewers bc these books often do have a high star rating which indicates the majority of readers liked em #it's the weird toxic trait of low scoring reviews getting the most likes #which is a thing in many places but imo GR has a big FB vibe to it #so it's a little more noticeable there #(some of these notes were more shallow but like. let's point out that these reviews are not only dumb or gross but UGLY.)

#art #fanart #digital art #dc comics #bernard dowd #timber #timbern #tim drake #tim drake fanart #bernard dowd fanart #red robin #red robin fanart #dc fanart #i dont usually do more graphic styles like this so it was a fun challenge #theres so many little parts to the original that i had to notice and include #i didnt wanna download or make my own heart and star stamps just to use them maybe 6 times each so those are all hand drawn #i adjusted the colors of the heart outlines like 6 times before i was satisfied #also the fact that bernard has a red jacket and pink shirt in this changes the color profile completely so i had to change some things about #-the OG colors so it fit in well #but im happy to report that i didnt use any major blend mode layers over everything at the end to get the colors to mesh well #which is a thing ive been doing for a long time but isnt very conducive to actually learning color theory #also also i spent like a full 45 minutes trying to get the text to look right #bc i dint have whatever font that is so i had to improvise with the fonts i did have and a little bit of editing #and then i had to duplicate it for the shadow and outline it and everything #it was pretty fun tho #seeing the end product was especially satisfying #i havent read ‘go for it nakamura!’ but i assume from context clues the little squid things on the cover are-#-calling him a simp/being supportive wingmen so i replaced them with steph and dick #who i imagine are watching bernard and tim’s relationship like a soapy romcom #and occasionally heckling them (affectionately!) when theyre being lovey-dovey

Man is it just me or are a lot of TV shows nowadays are written to have big emotional episodes in scenes with very little build up.

#txt #i have some thoughts on a certain show.... maybe i'll talk about it lol #like you would think with shortened seasons these writers would try to limit the cast so that big scenes feel more earned... but they dont?#they want these big massive expansive casts with big emotional moments by episode 2 and then every episode needs that Big Scene #i noticed this especially with a lot of indie animated shows #pacing and build up is sacrificed so we can have big emotional scenes with characters we know very little #even indie shows i enjoy im just kind of like “wouldnt this feel more earned if i actually knew this character”#and sometimes it works. pluto made me cry in the first episode! but it also spent so much time with these characters because #they're an hour long each

Dark Secret

So! Danny was discovered pretty quickly after his first battle against the Lunch Lady. His hair turned white, and his body shape was a little different, but he largely looked very similar to his Human Form, so it was only a matter of time really.

Thankfully he was assumed to be a Metahuman.

He didn't look like any other Ghost, the closest resemblance was his hair and eye color, but even that could be explained away. Also his parents were adamant that he couldn't be a Ghost because he was still Sentient and not Evil, so he must just have powers that just looked similar to Ghost Powers esthetically. Probably as a result of the Portal Accident, which he used as an explanation for how his powers awakened.

Danny also avoided using the more obvious Ghost Powers like Intangiblity and Invisiblity, sticking mostly to the most basic Flight and Energy based Powers he got to be as generic as possible. If anybody saw otherwise, it was a trick of the light or a trick of the Ghosts.

Danny became the Hero of Amity Park, always pretending to be something else. It was his darkest secret.

Unfortunately because the public never saw a Ghost like Phantom on a positive light, their perception of Ghosts never changed. Nobody believed that Ghosts could be anything aside from Evil, and as the knowledge of Ghosts and the Ghost Zone began to spread around the world that perception became more and more commonplace.

If Danny had been revealed in the early days, it could have been salvageable, but nowadays if his secret was revealed he would have to convince the entire world that everything they knew about Ghosts was wrong. It would practically be impossible.

Even when he joined the Justice League when he became an Adult, he still had to hide his secret. Years of hiding made sure he could conceal his true Nature from the magic users on the team, but he still had to be distant from the team just to be sure.

While all this was going on in the Living Realm, his adventures in the Ghost Zone still happened as normal. He saved Pandora and the Acropolis, dethroned the Tyrant King Aragon, managed to defeat Pariah Dark in Single combat, and even became recognized as a Great Warrior by the Far Frozen.

After years of hiding, he actually felt more at home in the Ghost Zone than in the Human Realm. There he could be his true self without having to hide a huge part of his identity, and people accepted him for who he was. Sure he had enemies there, but he also had more real friends outside of Tucker and Sam.

He was content with his double life, acting as a Hero to the Public while hiding his true self, and secretly going to the Ghost Zone to be himself among his friends and even his enemies.

Of course it all came crashing down when he Anti Ecto Acts finally passed.

Now there was a Legal Path for Humans to enter and profit off of the Ghost Zone. Beyond just being able to legally kill and experiment on Ghosts, the Acts also allowed Humans to claim parts of the Ghost Zone as their own Property, enslaving the Ghosts residing there, and destroying the Ecosystem of the Zone because there were no laws preventing it.

And now Danny had a choice.

He could either side with the Humans to which he was a Hero, allowing them to destroy the Ghost Zone and Enslave the denizens living there with the full support of the Government, or he could side with the Ghost Zone, betraying Humanity and the people he had been protecting for years, but trying to save those who had accepted him for his true self years ago.

To him the answer was obvious.

INCREDIBLY LONG INCOHERENT TAGS RANT INCOMING FAIR WARNING HAS BEEN GIVEN:#it makes me so so sad how little discussion there is about specifically ikuko because imho she fits so neatly into a lot of the more #overarching Big Themes of the game in a way that i have not ever really seen people take notice of or point out in a meaningful way #like even just off of the top of my head. the significance of names and what it means to go by a name that's Not Yours (she has like 4+)#what it Means to be a witch how it represents a person's deepest insecurities and flaws & how its at its core a coping mechanism #the fact that it takes two to create a universe and trying to do it on your own anyways has the capacity to bring you intense misery #^ (how she's shown to be extremely dismissive of her own work and skill until a collaborator comes into her life and helps/encourages her)#and even the family/patriarchy/misogyny stuff that is so prevalent in the rest of the game comes back around to her. even her Only Friend #(young&stupid atp to be fair) remarks that shes Weird for being unmarried + the little she does say about her past invites the question of #to what extent her self-image stems from her family deeming her a freak outcast & effectively disowning her while celebrating her brothers #and i have lot in my mind about the witch thing specifically because i think her particular situation is very reflective of what umineko's #entire magic system and fantasy facet as a whole is meant to represent for an individual. from what little we see of (what is presumably)#her Real personality she is shown to be deeply self conscious in a way that is JARRINGLY diametrically opposed to both 1.) what we see in #featherine and 2.) what we see when she is acting as a Public Figure. because both of the above are very much purposeful acts that she is #putting on in order to obfuscate her true self. and i have always been very resolute & adamant about not totally equating her to featherine #not only because im very firmly in the camp of “featherine is the avatar of the Pen Name & tohya is part of her too” but also very much b/c #i feel very strongly that the stark differences between the two are very centrally relevant to her character & her psyche. as is the case #with most other witches featherine's personality traits serve to reveal/magnify a lot of ikukos inner workings by playing on her #insecurities/reversing them e.g. ikuko being very quick to downplay her skill/achievements becomes featherine being the COMPLETE opposite #to the point where she barely registers even other witches as living beings rather than just fun touys. BUT even though i do champion the #ikuko/featherine separation so hard i ALSO think it is purposefully relevant that at first glance the line between them seems so blurry #her introduction implying a more nebulous separation between her reality/fantasy counterpart is i think is an intentional move on her part #like it is part of the front she is putting up when acting as the Author. as opposed to Ikuko the person who we (in a way ironically very #similar to the way that the Real Battler is presumably only shown during the boatscene) only very briefly get to see take up screentime #which even on a meta level lines up very well with her apparent underlying nature as a like. extremely private largely reserved/shy person #hit tag limit but if by some miracle anyone is still reading this thank you... please see ikuko with the love she deserves... ok ily byeee

Bruce Wayne had a child that was somehow kidnapped right out of the hospital just hours after being born. He of them ever stopped looking despite how cold the trail had grown.

Years later there is some rouge attack and a civilian child was injured and taken to the hospital. Bruce does a DNA test on the blood found at the scene and concludes that the child is actually his long lost kid.

Dani was planning to sneak out of the hospital the moment the doctors stopped looking at her. Then Bruce Wayne of all people comes in and claims that she is his long lost child. She knows that this is very impossible because she is a clone, but Bruce won't listen to her and she really doesn't want to explain the clone thing to a "normal" stranger.

This does brings up a lot of questions about how Danny ended up living with the Fentons though.

#I think Selina is the best choice for a mom here purely because I think she and Dani would be amazing together #They would get on like a house on fire. Danny is more Bruce's son but Dani? Oh she is very much Selina's daughter. You feel me?#For this plot to work either Danny or Dani needs to be trans because Bruce would notice if his missing kid is a different sex #I have no real preference which but if we make Dani the trans one we can explain why she is so short for her age (puberty blockers)#Damian is gender affirming for Dani by telling her that he is “still the only blood son.” Dani holding back tears “Thanks bro.”#Danny would be older than Damian. But Dani isn't Danny and thus isn't as old as Bruce thinks she is. She and Damian are the same age (kinda #BUT she is oh so willing to lie and accept this fake age PURELY so she can be “older” than Damian. which pisses him off #when the truth comes out he absolutely abuses the fact that he is actually the older one to be a little shit #Dani keeps trying to run away but even with her powers she somehow keeps getting caught and dragged back #The bats are trying so hard to figure out where Dani has been all this time but she refuses to give straight answers #How DID Danny end up with the Fentons? IDK but I think the LOA is involved somehow #How does Danny feel about this realization? I am not sure about that either. I think at first he wants not part in a rich guy's life #Maybe he changes his mind later. challengers twitter pointed out something very cool: art's coach speaking to him in german!

the subs says "just invite her to serve." (which doesn't make any sense? and art doesn't even go to her after that lmao?) but he apparently actually says "wirf den ball etwas höher." which means "throw the ball a little higher.".

so art knows what patrick's house looks like which means he went there, he understands when his coach speaks to him in german and he's the only one who can pronounce "zweig", a german surname, the right way.

art learning german for patrick and spending holidays with him and his family is canon, i don't make the rules.
