thinking about how klavier + kristoph vs. apollo + trucy is a really interesting contrast of siblings and how well they fit into the themes of family (blood vs. chosen and how there's sometimes overlap; putting your trust in an older relative's advice and having it backfire/being treated as a pawn; finding commonality in a shared family trait/tradition; etc.) establish in the original trilogy would've been a pretty cool thread to follow through the latter games, esp since it'd keep that broader theme of family as a neat and emotionally resonant common ground with the og trilogy but fuck me i guess

#raikou #the black thing in the background is their lightning—for some reason this guy had a bunch of lightning models all around them #but they didn't have textures. i assume they get textured with particle effects in game or something but they had whole models for it #so you get a sneak peak of that in the background i guess. once again this is a guy i found out about from pokémon colosseum #in the battle tower‚ which is also the reason i remember thinking gyarados was a legendary as a kid #i also wish you could pick the music that plays during the battle tower. i know it's a two-decade-old game but cipher peon battle is my #favorite song in that entire game out of all of them and it only plays sometimes during the battle tower. and i want it to play all the time #small potatoes. here's the beginning of the gen 2 legendaries signifying that we are close to the end of generation 2. buckle your seatbelts

When I was in uni we had to do a presentation on an artist chosen from a provided list and I chose Mark Ryden and the lecturer who I presented it to laughed and asked mockingly why I would make the presentation pink because it’s extremely unprofessional and I was like you mean this guy?

#we were told the aesthetics didn’t really matter and to make them cohesive with the theme #and it was LITERALLY just a muted millennial pink background w white boxes and dark pink text #everyone else did black and white but we legit had people with dyslexia on our course so I didn’t wanna do that #AND other peoples were just as heavily decorated and coloured it was literally just the colour pink she bitched about #and I was like why? what’s the issue? it’s a major part of his work and it’s just a damn colour what’s your problem???#in front of the whole class I was so mad and embarrassed but I was too annoyed to drop it #we were also in pairs and I ended up doing the whole thing for a lot of reasons and then my partner couldn’t even pronounce the words #so it was made extremely clear I’d done everything and for some reason this makes teachers assume YOURE the asshole #I’ve had it so many times where I’ve been that guy doing the whole thing and then those in charge are like #why are you being such a control freak and nasty to your group #like idk maybe because I’m the only one even remotely trying and I don’t want to fail SHARON

aka the timber scouts! they're basically just a bunch of kids in a sort of guild prep-course. so, not a real full official guild, but functions like one. all the kids have different woodland animal gimmicks to go with the scout vibe. They have a very loose shared uniform too, they're pretty much allowed to customize however they want as long as they keep the white button-up, brown outerwear, dark brown bottoms, and brown boots. also like a lot of kids in other guilds, their weapons are toys or otherwise "safter" items. reading other short stories and novels and essays and interviews from sapkowski is so satisfying because not only are these fun to read in of themselves but when my mind returns to the witcher i am like

#i just read maladie :) ive had the translation on hand for a while but only now got around to reading it #so. give it up for: doomed lovers. subverting the legend. love as illness. deathbeds. avalon and the rudderless boat.#i feel like i understand a little sacrifice way more now for some reason. NOT just the love as illness BUT #iseult of the white hands telling tristan that iseult of the golden hair was indeed on the ship in this retelling by sapkowski when #in the general way it goes (as what i gleaned from wikipedia) she lied in jealousy and told him the sails were black #maladie joins the group of 'i thought this would be really difficult to understand without the background knowledge...'#'... but it only took two to three wikipedia pages to make sure i understood what's going on'#and again no i probably didn't catch every reference or even understand perfectly. it's a first read after all #but did i have fun? was i emotionally moved? YES!#after reading tandaradei! i am like 90% more understanding of what he meant by the whole 'eyes of ugly girls' thing from the last wish #me beginning the story and it's going on about how she's not pretty: 'jeez i dont see how that's really relevant man'#me ending the story and it ends like *that*: 'I SEE.... I SEEEEEE i got it OK'#LITERALLY i feel validated though because that was how I INTERPRETED IT... it's about society. her psychology. not her looks.#it's about the CRUELTY OF OTHERS which THEN BECOMES the CRUELTY OF THE GIRL!!!#the 'girl is mistreated. girl goes WILD' recurring story. art should disturb the comfortable and comfort the disturbed #come on... it's like carrie x the vvitch x midsommar

that moment when: everyone's lives are restricted and constricted and these imposed consequences are attributed to anyone's continual individual failures to seek, find, and follow the Correct Path through Life, and so everyone is left on their own to only be seeking & finding these failures as well as the only answer to how their lives can be better....versus Not seeing the world as the free marketplace meritocracy of everyone's personal failures/successes, nor everything in your own life, and thus not forever having to scrutinize Where You Must Be Bringing It Upon Yourself by fucking up or at least failing to do the correct thing, and exist only in perpetual punishment for your ongoing failure and occasional temporary reprieves from it. recognizing everything that wasn't & isn't & wouldn't be [this is because you're bringing it upon yourself] and thus having more capacity & capability to look at the realm of your personal individual self, reality, experiences, life through the perpetual instances of seeking, finding, and following your own needs/wants through one's inherent personhood and exercises of autonomy and recognition of where & when & how one recognizes moments of their existing freely & in more resonant genuine alignment with themself, you know? endless examples to be found in endless fractals of [where & how are people's lives made smaller]. and that of course this doesn't preclude the ability/option at any time to question one's choices, since you'll be able to find more Actual choices available to you (and, also crucially, find more actual choices made by others that are in the pursuit of limiting Yours) to look at, and people getting to exercise their autonomy isn't the same as "everyone doing anything they want regardless of how it affects others" since that [how does it affect others?] element instead being Regarded would be able to lead to recognizing that, in fact, an effect might be the infringement on others' autonomy, hence: There's A Problem....like the ability to just go ham with [questioning???] anything in existence, certainly including oneself, b/c the "norm" is such that rather you're only supposed to be able to question yourself for your failings (or those positioned as less than, thus, beneath you) and not even have the language to express a questioning of aspects of life beyond that b/c stop calling anyone "cis" they're just Normal, Just Be Normal and it would all be fine
