I think being 8 years old and watching two horses fall in love, only to have one horse get shot and the other laying helplessly at her side until they're forcefully separated and he thinks he'll never see her (alive) again had a profound impact on my psyche

Watched my all time favorite movie. Spirit. Which BY THE WAY is animated by James Baxter. Who JUST SO HAPPENS to have a “draw a horse” tutorial in the special features. Anyway guess what I did
Took me an hour. A fucking HOUR. That’s NOTHING. I remember following the video as a kid, and being so proud of my shitty little horse. LOOK AT ME NOW.

Spirit Stallion of the Cimarron is on Netlfix so I am having a lovely morning watching it and being very nostalgic. This was one of the first movies I saw in theaters as a kid (the very first was Lilo and Stitch I believe) and to this day it’s got one of my favorite soundtracks.
