THE CROW (1994) dir. Alex Proyas
People once believed that when someone dies, a crow carries their soul to the land of the dead. But sometimes, something so bad happens that a terrible sadness is carried with it and the soul can't rest. Then sometimes, just sometimes, the crow can bring that soul back to put the wrong things right.

D-16 was no more the moment he came to learn of Sentinel's betrayal, too consumed in his anger to listen to reason because the hero he looked up to turned out to be nothing but a lie
His vengeance shaped him into becoming Megatron and took him and Orion's bond to the grave.

Frankly, I don't care that late night with the devil used Ai art. If you completely refute any and all use of ai, don't interact with ai, don't support companies that use ai, actively speak out against ai, then good for you, I don't care if you speak out against this movie. If you only speak out against the ai in this movie because others are, go away!!! This movie was so stunning (albeit a bit corny) and it makes me a bit sad seeing people hate it so vehemently due to a few frames. I don't think the filmmakers intended on trying to normalize ai art in movies, i genuinely think it was just them cutting corners with money, and while I do think they should have just payed someone to do it, the ai art doesn't ruin the quality of the movie. This movie was genuinely a labor of love and you can see that in the scenes themselves. Don't knock it till ya try it is all I'm saying..BUT ALSO FEEL FREE TO TELL ME WHY IM WRONG JUST BE A LIL NICE

Dead Poets Society is genuinely SO important to me and I want to elaborate on why so here u go if you’re interested 🙏
Career
as mentioned in my introduction post, i am studying english and literature. one may wonder what i intend to do with a fine arts degree in english, and the answer is simple. i want to teach. i was very on the fence for a long time about what i wanted to do, all i knew was that i was good at english. i remember watching this film and it clicked, this was what i wanted to do with my life.
the end goal is to be a literature professor, with the intention of additionally publishing a story i’m working on along with some poetry.
keating has, of course, been a major inspiration to me. i want not only to teach, but to inspire as i do so in the same way he inspired those kids. i want others to understand that “words and ideas can change the world,” and that the power of language goes beyond knowing the proper way to write an essay or draft an email. watching the movie and seeing as english and poetry finally click for students like Todd is so inspiring, as that’s what i hope to accomplish. i want to be keating, essentially
Representation
as a queer person (specifically bisexual and nonbinary), the representation in dead poets society simply makes me happy. you can argue with me all day that it’s not meant to be a queer film but EVERYTHING in that film was deliberate and the use of tchaikovsky and whitman, two queer artists of their fields, suggests otherwise. and even if it wasn’t meant to be queer, a lot of queer people still relate to it. there’s really not more to that, other than the fact that representation in media is IMPORTANT. gale hansen also said he thinks charlie is bisexual 🙏
Inspiration
dead poets society is, without argue, an incredibly inspiring film. the message of carpe diem and self exploration are a great reminder to get off your ass and live your life. it’s fun seeing people roughly my age finding passion and having fun and just being silly. it’s nice to hear Keating harp on how much an individual’s voice and thoughts matter. it’s refreshing to remember to look at things differently, to find a new angle, to struggle against great odds and meet enemies undaunted.
to hear the Whitman verse: “Answer. That you are here—that life exists and identity, / That the powerful play goes on, and you may contribute a verse.” along with Keating’s addition, “What will your verse be?” i mean cmon. you can’t say that doesn’t stir something deep within you.
this movie is literally everything to me, and it has been for the past two years. the degree of my hyperfixation fluctuates, but it’s always bound to come in full at least once every month or so. thank you to robin williams, the poets, and peter weir for such an incredible and life-changing movie

tw: religion
the cross necklace is really such a cornerstone and is so subtle but does such a good job of reminding us of everyone's placement (not ranking) and order in the operation.
the first time we see tashi, she's wearing the cross- an indication that patrick, being an early bloomer, wanted and had her first. and art's interest in women is based on patrick's interest initially (girl from boarding school, tashi). art only likes tashi after seeing her through patrick's eyes of desire. she is but a tool the father uses to teach the son and ultimately transform the son.
from the holy trinity perspective, patrick is the father as he does the most foreshadowing/planning (going on to be a no name player, not tashi's lapdog, grandma's stroke). art is the son, but tashi is the holy spirit, her role being to empower and guide the son for the work the father has planned for and taught him to do. and art, the poor son, is fully obedient to patrick but he is also forsaken by him when he wins tashi's number and when patrick aims to place himself above art ("not a lapdog and sit around and let you punish me") which is exactly what he fights with tashi about when she does it to him in the dorm. in another vein, art is absolutely a version of judas but another post for another day.
her cross necklace is also the key we need to understand why art views her as jesus. not filled with unconditional love like a mother and not naively loving like a nun. she's the one who had their career executed and crucified before a sea of onlookers despite her being the only one of the three with pure passion, talent, and commitment. as the person with true spirit when she played, she only "rises" from her injury/death later by coaching her husband and transforming him into a star player. but patrick was right- he isn't her student but her equal. within their holy trinity, the three are equal parts of a whole with different roles.
if patrick as the father is the planner (going pro early) and art is the son who accomplishes the plan set by the father (to go pro and actually be good), then tashi is the holy spirit and is the path of salvation in how she convinces, convicts, and ultimately, converts "good" players into "great". in a way, her cross necklace tells us what becomes of her- once a planner, then an executor, to finally, a guider and force to reach the promised land.
tldr: this movie is the adult version of veggie tales tbh

Saw the Fall Guy last week and I can’t stop thinking about it so I had to sketch one of my favorite Colt and Jody moments! If you haven’t seen this movie I highly recommend seeing it, it’s so good! The perfect blend of romance, comedy, and action!

I just had to. The stupid little dance they do at the end of the movie is my brain 24/7 and it's killing me. There's NO gifs of them doing this dance. I haven't watched this movie in YEARS, I knew it was good but not THIS GOOD.

This movie has changed everything.
Nihilism vs finding love in everything there is, in the mundane or the big. Finding love in hate and the things underappreciated, even if its really fucking hard.

For all of you Elly and Aiden fans….you’re welcome. I made a playlist of songs I think they’d dance to undercover, or dance to in general.
Enjoy 🤗😉
