Hello! Welcome to The Sneep Zone
You may call me Nagi
Main blog: @nagoo (I'm also on Bluesky! absolutely NO MINORS on the bluesky, no exceptions. nsfw art will be going there.)
@headmasterseverussnape is my beloved
u better be able to tell fiction from reality i stg.
first and foremost: fuck jkr. i do not endorse her. i do not agree with her. we dont do that weird shit here.
we do different weird shit instead (bask in the decadence of The Sneep)
This sideblog is for me to post all my Snape art and Snape related ramblings! I am addicted to snape fics, and have found myself needing to make fanart for some of my favorite writers. such things will be posted here!
Severus Snape is my favorite guy!
I am known to refer to him as: Sneep, Snorp, Sneb, The Sneberous Sneb, The Snebulous One, He Who Sneeps In The Dark, SneepSnorp, Mother, Sneppu, El Sneepo, Snorpo, Snib, The Best One, The Only One That Matters, precious beloved sneep, Babygirl, etc.
rest assured, I am talking about Severus Snape every single time
I ship him with everyone! yes, even [insert character]. I always tag ships so block the tag or w/e if theres one you dont like.
I truly and genuinely, from the bottom of my heart, do not care even a little bit about The Grievances u may have about my ships or my sneeps. I cannot stress enough how much that is not my problem. If you're the type to throw a tantrum over ships and fictional content I'm just gonna block you tbh.
Dark/Fucky content WILL be found on this blog. Snape was practically MADE for that shit and I like to project my traumas onto him so like. ykno. I expect ppl with critical thinking on here ONLY.
in my ideal world, everyone would love and cherish Sneep. I tend to focus on marauder's era Snape
not to be rude, but i kind of only care about Snape really. the slytherins are cool and chill too (especially Lucius, Rosier, and Mulciber), but i mostly care about how they interact with and potentially fall in love with The Sneep. the marauders are rat bastards and i ship them with Snape in a "grovel eternally for the scraps of his affection" kind of way. I am not sorry.
dont expect nothing serious from me unless im waxing poetic about Snape or heavily projecting my own Tragic Past onto him tbh, and even then...
i have zero interest in any debates whatsoever. i cannot emphasize this enough, my thoughts are disjointed and nonsensical. The mere thought of having a serious debate about anything is stressful and unpleasant. I mean it as kindly as possible when I say it makes my eyes glaze over.
i am just here to draw Snape and shitpost about my favorite little guy.
i dont care that he's mean.
he shouldve been meaner, actually.
he's better than me and he's probably better than you too, because i wouldve absolutely lost it big boy style.
Art tag: #nagi nyart
Have you ever written a fanfic about Severus Snape? If so, please PLEASE read this post Here
this shouldnt even have to be said but please do not??? take me stuffs and completely re-upload it without credit or permission?? dont do that to anyone, actually? like idk basic courtesy towards artists or w/e. you know better, i know you do.
BUT that said.. using my stuff for your header or profile pic is fine with credit somewhere easily visible, like the profile description, or pinned post!

How do you feel about the fandom?
Iā€™m assuming you mean Ut/utmv?
How can I say this in the most gentle way possible hmm..
I genuinely do love the creativity within the fandom, the beautiful art and stories and ideas people come up with, the different interpretations of these characters even when i donā€™t agree with them or have my own thoughts/opinions, cause thatā€™s what fandoms are supposed to, itā€™s all of us showing our love for these lil blorbos of ours in each of our own unique different ways
Of course, each fandom has its good and bad side, but to say the ut/utmv fandom is so damn negative to the point itā€™s suffocating is an understatement
Iā€™m especially weirded out by the pro harassment behavior within this fandom, like, a mf would say ā€œiā€™m anti harassment!!!!ā€ Then turn around and post/reblog a post with +20 people name dropped to ā€œraise awarenessā€ for whatever little that is worth, you can ā€œraise awarenessā€ by messaging people privately, not make a list where an asshole can easily use it to harass people, and no, saying shit like ā€œdonā€™t harass these people!!!ā€ Does not alleviate any responsibility from you if they do get harassed because of your post
Thatā€™s why messages are a thing, and only messaging those who explicitly state they want to be messaged, not jump in into peopleā€™s inboxes or messages and telling them shit out of the blue
So many people within this fandom need to learn fandom etiquette, how to mind their own business, and to use the damn block button, youā€™re uncomfortable with a certain subject? Tumblr has the most handy filtering system, donā€™t like a person/find them uncomfortable? Block them, blocking them isnā€™t enough and want to complain? That is what you can use your blog for, feel free to complain on your own blog to your heartā€™s content (not on other peopleā€™s blogs or under their posts if itā€™s not the subject for it) thatā€™s what friends are for too, go to their DMs and complain till the end of time
Being just a bit bigger of an artist follower wise in comparison to other artists means that I deal with very special cases sometimes, because Iā€™m also puzzled by the way people can get super comfortable with commanding strangers to do things they want or to break basic respectful boundaries like not getting people involved in drama even when they specifically state not to include them (me, Iā€™m starngers, every time I reblog my boundaries post, itā€™s me implying that I got something that broke my very basic bitch boundaries that day, which says a lot about the fandom, cause i literally only got 4 boundaries stated damn)
Thatā€™s why I opt to not get too close to people within the fandom, and am generally careful as to who I let close to me, Iā€™m very certain people might think I somehow have my own social circle within the fandom or have some wide connections they can never get, when in reality Iā€™m isolated af
That being said, idk if itā€™s young people not knowing any better, or adults who act like children, but the fact harassment is very prominent and also very normalized within the fandom is something that definitely made me seriously think of just getting back to the Transformers fandom (one of the most chill fandoms iā€™ve ever been part of)
Fandom is fandom, keep it for rambling about blorbos, and learn to mind your own business <3

I think a certain amount of etiquette is lost on people in fandom nowadays.
Just in general, but specifically I'm focusing on Tomarry/Harrymort right now because it's relevant my present issue.
I follow Tomarry/Harrymort content on here and Twitter. I am not always active, and I'm not always reacting to every single thing I see. But I see a lot of things and I keep my mouth shut most of the time.
In these past couple of months on Twitter, it's become really annoying to witness this particular subset of the fandom because people make posts that are not-so-subtly shading Tomarry/Harrymort writers every day.
People are so obsessed with how much they love the character and how much they love fanfiction that is true to the character, where they sound just like their canon self and don't seem any different, that they spend their days tearing down depictions of Harry Potter in fanfiction, that dare to stray away from abused, snow-white-angel, Quidditch-obsessed jock.
Many people seem to have forgotten that in the actual story, Harry Potter and Lord Voldemort would not get together. We ship two crack ships. They are things that have no hope in hell of ever happening in the canon story. To even write for Tomarry/Harrymort, we either have to change a few details, leave out a few details, or try to rework the existence of some details so they hit differently and make the pairing make sense for each individual fic.
This fandom purity nonsense has ended up with a lot of recent posts dogging on different kinds of HP tropes over the years and affecting authors.
A few weeks bacl it was 'the era of creature fics was cringe'. And then it was followed by a long list describing certain scenarios in certain stories that used these tropes, and I could immediately pick out which fics inspired these descriptions. There were people in the replies and the quotes land people who took screenshots to post to their own accounts to say shady things(including naming fics specifically!) without others being able to easily access them from the OG post itself.
I, personally, have outgrown creature fics in HP, and I'm not interested in reading them anymore. But I'm not sitting here making lists attacking the tropes involved in them. I'm not sitting here saying that they were stupid and corny, and they were the most unHarry Potter-like writings ever. And I'm not the one out here making the people who wrote those stories and get to see these kinds of comments coming from people in their fandom, feel bad.
IDK, but when So-So sees people bringing their 6-year-old fic up in a post dragging tropes in Tomarry/Harrymort fics, and they suddenly get the urge to just delete their fics entirely and not bother with the fandom anymore... maybe y'all need to learn how to word things better. It's really not that hard to say you're not into a specific thing anymore without having to drag other people down.

https://www.tumblr.com/swordfright/756502816281018368/what-do-you-think-is-your-most-controversial-dsmp?source=share
I remember sending this to a bunch of dsmp blogs (starting with elmhat I think ?) bc I like when people share ideas/opinions who diverge from the main consensus because I find it the most efficient way for people to stick to canon and not fanon since people can have different interpretations of event
And it was super interesting to see the one about the experimentation being after prison rather than before (loved the two LN and Q ones too but as you said they were a bit more common. Would love to see your take on c!slime though now)
(And I wouldn't have a problem with you giving unpopular opinion about the fandom either but to be clear I was not trying to start anything with my first question, I just like seeing uncommon takes)
Don't worry lol I didn't assume you were trying to start shit. Ok, so c!Slime is pretty interesting in that he's the closest thing we have to an NPC in what is otherwise a roleplay, which implies certain things about how he can be used in the narrative.
A little bit of quick background: I spent a LOT of time as a kid doing RP online (it was an original story set in the Death Note universe and it happened on a website that went bankrupt in like 2017 and no longer exists lmfao don't worry about it) and idk what RP etiquette is like in other communities, but in the community I was a part of, it was sort of frowned upon for players to outsource heavy plot/character development material to NPCs. It was allowed and people did it, but it was seen as sort of a cop-out. The underlying idea being that if you're gonna bother to do RP, your character's most important interactions should be with other PCs, in part because it helps build/strengthen the RP community and in part because it better entrenches your character's storyline in the storylines of other PCs, which in turn encourages other players to keep RPing and keeps the story going. Again, creating NPCs was very common, but players were discouraged from having entire arcs or character trajectories be highly dependent on NPCs. It was seen as sort of a cheap, low-effort way of progressing your character's development without having to coordinate plot beats with other players, and doing it too often was seen as sort of antithetical to what RP is trying to achieve as a form of gaming-storytelling. To me, c!Slime is a classic example of when an RPer outsources a little too much narrative weight onto an NPC.
First of all, I wanna clarify that it's kinda difficult to define what an NPC is or isn't on this server, but I'd say c!Slime is more of an NPC because even though he's played by a CC with some degree of improv, we know that cc!Quackity specifically wrote c!Slime's character to fulfill a narrative role and asked cc!Slime to play that character - as opposed to alternate characters played by CCs of their own accord (Sam Nook, Dream XD, Sam Bucket, Mexican Dream, etc.) So, for example, I don't see Sam Bucket as an NPC but I do see c!Slime as an NPC. c!Slime wasn't an original creation on the part of the player, he's a narrative tool (which is fine, but it does mean that what he can and can't do in the story is limited to what cc!Q needed him to do.)
There are some things I think the addition of c!Slime did accomplish. For one, Q's interactions with him provide a platform for more introspective character work on Q's part. And while I that character work could've been done by having Q interact with a PC instead, I do think Slime is better positioned to act as an apprentice figure because he had almost no lore prior to Las Nevadas and didn't enter the story with baggage or ties to any other major characters. He's a blank slate, which makes him really easy to use as a narrative device. Q voices thoughts and ideas to Slime that he can't voice to other characters (usually because it would be OOC for him to do so, or wouldn't make sense in context), which means that Slime is sort of a vehicle for delivering Q characterization to the audience.
This is all fine and I think a lot of it was done fairly well. I like cc!Slime's acting and I think the character is a fun addition to the LN crew. That said, I don't think the payoff was great. Slime being an NPC really undermined what I assume cc!Q was going for with End of Las Nevadas, in large part because he doesn't have well-established relationships with other characters. Aside from Q, Slime basically only ever interacts with Tommy, Foolish and Ranboo, and even those interactions are limited to a really tiny handful of streams. Punz capturing and manipulating him, Slime helping c!Dream confront Quackity...all that stuff could have been a lot more interesting if it had more time to marinate. Like, I love the IDEA of Slime and c!Dream interacting, but we don't really get any meaningful interactions between them outside of Slime's function as a storytelling tool. He's there when he needs to be, and only ever when he needs to be.
For instance, I would've loved to see what Slime thinks about Q's slime army. It's really weird to model your mindlessly obedient slave army after your friend. That was a weird ass thing for Q to do, and it would've been cool to see Slime react to that. But because he's more NPC than PC, and because highly scripted lore like the LN series doesn't really encourage deviation, we never get to find that out. Slime doesn't ever really get to be his own character, which in the end kinda undermines a lot of the character development he triggers for c!Quackity because at the end of the day, it's really transparent that Slime only exists to be a prop. It's a kind of one-sided relationship that's unique to RP.
I think End of Las Nevadas was weak for other reasons too, but uhhhh yeah the Slime stuff bothered me a bit. Would've liked to see him do more. And he disappears after pushing Q off the ledge and, to my knowledge, we never see him again! If he had been more PC and less storytelling tool, presumably other characters would've had opportunities to react to Slime's role in the events of that stream, or notice that he's missing/back again/missing. But instead, he's able to just vanish from the story after he's fulfilled his role because that's all he was ever supposed to do.

hi uh
so I saw your ā€˜how not to get identities spoiledā€™ post and I was wondering about the etiquette of yapping abt older projects
like is it considered ok to post about it as long as I just tag it w the projects name and not anything ST related?
sorry if this is too strange of an ask, Iā€™m new to the fandom and want to make sure Iā€™m not messing things up for anyone ^ ^
thank you!
Hello hello!! Not strange at all, it's a very good question, actually šŸ‘€
So far I've seen two ways of dealing with it:
1. You make a separate blog and never mention st there; like the one blog i mentioned in my long-ass post;
2. You make a post with 'read more', announcing that the read more part contains older projects' talk or band names and other spoilers - that is used by blogs having people following them for sleep token, so that curious/already spoiled people can click while others can scroll down their dashes in peace. Sometimes band/musical projects' names are mentioned, sometimes not.
If you're not worried about what the followers think, cause that is your blog after all, go for it. As long as st is not mentioned in the post and it will not appear in any st-related tags, you're good. Alternatively: you make posts about it with a specific tag people can block, like idk, 'old projects talk' or something. For instances your followers don't wanna see it, but still want to follow you for other stuff.

I wonder if age/generation has a lot of bearing on the decrease of fandom meta; like, the age of understood concepts/etiquette like ā€œdonā€™t like donā€™t readā€ or simply choosing not to interact w interpretations you donā€™t like arenā€™t really a thing anymore. People in general seem to have gotten way more aggro with conflicting ideas/interpretations and specific ā€œfanonā€ tends to get established very decisively. Not to mention the larger internet culture has changed to be so, idk, personal? like sometimes i just see how younger people behave/interact on twitter or tiktok and they can be SO aggressive and eager to make someone out in the worst light possible, stuff like that, idk if this makes sense but yeah. culture changes, I guess
Oh, I have to disagree with you anon. "Don't like don't read" started because people had to be told that, told it often, told it frequently. The flamewars back in the day about things as innocuous as "who tops" were once legendary, after all. My experiences on LJ were full of constant drama, much of it nasty as fuuuuuck. Back in my day, making someone's beloved blorbo gay could get you death threats.
I don't think what has changed is any of that as much as the delivery mechanism. What did used to be easier, IME, was choosing how and where to interact to minimize unwanted contact with the people having those bad faith arguments, and the way those arguments were confined to static spaces once upon a time. Web 2.0 didn't make people act worse, but it did make sure that folks acting badly were algorithmically boosted on basically every platform. It's the reblog thing again, isn't it? A stupid take on a forum or a personal blog or even a community might get linked around (who else was there for fandom_wank, shout out), but it didn't get endlessly reproduced. I am wary of arguments fandom culture got "more toxic" in the abstract because I think it obfuscates the role that centralized platforms and especially the corporate idea of "user content" as something to be treated as a kind of resource to be exploited play in our current... situation? Twitter needs a main character to boost engagement to sell ads in a way that web 1.0 spaces just couldn't dream of. And the end result for everyone is that by design, avoiding the nobodies with rancid takes and ongoing drama is simply not possible now. No closed ecosystems. There's a reason the very common request for Tumblr to implement a "make this post unsearchable" function is unlikely to happen. (I'm still astonished they gave in on reblog controls, frankly.)

What are the opinions around here about the etiquette of someone reccing their own fic to you? I assume context probably matters a lot, like whether it is unsolicited or recs were asked for, and someone you know well vs. someone you don't. Curious about experiences with this kind of thing. In my case: it was a regular commenter, so there has been a few friendly interactions with them (like five), just talking a bit about some story/character preferences we enjoy that are in my fic they are reading; then they recced their fic on a chapter. I can see why they might think I'd enjoy the themes of the rec they sent from our previoue interactions, though it is a different pairing, and it isn't one I dislike, but I don't have interest in reading for it. Idk it felt...a little pushy? Personally I wouldn't even drop an unsolicited link to my own fic in a closer fandom friend private chat, about a pairing/tropes I know are liked. I guess I figure if they want to read it, they will, and linking it adds a weird pressure, but maybe this is a normal/common thing to do to connect and I just feel pressured? I'm not upset or anything, maybe just vaguely uncomfortable, because now I'm anxious about how to respond and whether my discomfort or feeling about it is unwarranted or makes me an asshole lol
--
If someone asks for "good" fics, it's a little tacky. If someone asks for fics with such-and-such a specific kink, it's fine as long as your fic objectively contains that.
If nobody asked for recs, it's usually annoying to offer any recs, especially in the comments on a fic. (Obviously, if you're chatting with a friend, and you're like "OMG, I was just reading the best thing!" or something, that's normal.)
Offering recs of your own fic in other people's fic comments is a massive faux pas.

Hi, I've written to you before (I'm the greedy for ATOS Anon) idk if you remember.
But don't you think that marauders fandom is going in a really weird direction? Like, everyone criticizes each other lately, whether it's about fanarts, or ships, or not shipping specific couples or about whatever reason there can be.
I saw you re-blogged this Jegulus fanart and the comment section there is just disgusting. Why fans are doing this to each other, like, what's the problem with imagining NON-EXISTENT characters the way you want? Where this fandom heading to?
I once on tik-tok said I prefer Remus as a single man and I was literally eaten alive in comments, they said I'm homophobe, intolerant, transphobe etc etc. What happened to this community? It once was a safe space for anyone who needed and now I'm not sure anymore... I hope it's not too excessive of me to asking you and ranting about this, but I really wanted to know your opinion. If not, that's ok, don't feel forced to answer this and just ignore. Take care xxxx
Uhhh, and if anyone who spread this bulls**t comments and insults toward writers, art creators etc, is reading, I beg of you, hit your head with something heavy and try to think about being a better person.
Omg, hi 'greedy for ATOS' anon, of course I remember you. I'm gonna tell you something, writers who pay attention will always recognize the people who keep coming back, the usernames or in this case an identifier. We remember the readers who are gobbling up our work because you mean the world to us. Also, I just want to say I'm so happy there's at least one person out there who's greedy for tos. That story is so near and dear to my heart. I love rosekiller so much.
Anyway, to the matter at hand. This is going to be longer than I meant it to be, but that's okay. So before I go too deep into it, I dunno if you're a writer or a reader, or both, but before I say anything else, I just want to say there are definitely still safe spaces in fandom. They can be hard to find but they exist and persist. I'm very lucky to have found a good community of people who remind me everyday that fandom is still fun and silly and free. People who adhere strongly to the classic etiquette, such as 'ship and let ship' and 'you're kink is not my kink and that's okay' type of stuff. People who don't judge, and stick up for fellow creators, and don't put up with fandom bullying (which we've seen alot of in the last year).
So to answer your question, for the reasons listed above, I don't think the marauders fandom at it's core is going anywhere. Shitty people will come and go, and with the popularity of jegulus, it was inevitable to attract discourse like it has. That's human nature though, from what I've come to find. People like to argue, or stir the pot, or create contention. They like to get a rise out of people; but more than anything, I think some are just so angry in their heart - and they will find any excuse to unleash it. It's like a boiling pot and the steam just needs somewhere to go. There's truth in that saying - that misery loves company. And it's not just readers who do this - it's writer on writer - artist on artist. I'm not gonna lie to you anon, I've felt quite discouraged myself over the last several months too. It's hard to see the bullying and keep a good head in fandom sometimes. But you know what, despite all that, it's people like you who keep fandom alive and lovely, people who spread positivity and understand fandom etiquette. The more of us who give up on it, the less positivity fandom will have.
On a more specific level regarding that art, it does blow my mind that people are so bent out of shape about fictional characters. Here's the thing. Every. Single. Representation. Matters. Because humans aren't meant to be shoved into a box. And alot of people don't understand that. I'm a huge Jegulus fan even though I mostly write Rosekiller. My longest ongoing wip is a Jegulus wip. I love ALL jeg representations. Trans Reggie? yes please. Amab Masc Reggie? yes please. Cis straight Reggie? Absolutely. Poly jeg, yes. Tall James, yes. Short James, yes. Top James, yes. Switch James, yes. Bottom James, yes. All are just as valid as the next, and it's all of these interpretations (like you said) that makes fandom so rich. The thing is? that artist is a human being. People also forget about the person behind the screen, and their feelings were probably hurt and that's not fair to them. They're just doing what they love, and they're a really sweet person who didn't deserve that.
I'm sorry you had that experience on tiktok :( I can't say I'm all that surprised though. Tiktok isn't what I would consider the safest space. There are alot of people on there that just don't understand the rules of fandom etiquette, and are just so harsh to people in general. It's honestly a bit of a cesspool (I do use tiktok but I just don't interact a whole lot there)
Like I said, I have had similar worries and doubts as you do. But there are people who make it worthwhile, and I think the longevity is stronger than the hatred. My advice to you or anyone reading this is to curate your spaces. There's nothing wrong with doing this. Leave those servers, unfollow those people, block those posts, do whatever you need so that you can have a place that feels safe for you. Don't let anyone tell you not to do that. In fandom, there's no reason not to. This is supposed to be a place of enjoyment so you're within your right to keep it that way.
Safe spaces in fandom will always be there for those who need it; sometimes it's just about weeding out where those safe spaces are and being ruthless about it.
Anyway, thanks for asking anon, I know I'm preaching to the choir with alot of this, but hopefully some of the advice was helpful, and hopefully it gives you some hope about fandom <33

dear wizzzz,

šŸ§© ā‡¢ what will make you click away from a fanfiction immediately?
ooh this is a good q cus it's equally about what would keep me there. (and please remember this answer is so subjective.)
i usually know within like 2 paragraphs if i'm invested enough in a story to continue, and honestly style or sharp prose can hard-carry a lot of that even if the plot isn't what i'd pick out right away. idk. i like watching what sandcastles writers can build with the tools and known characters are at their disposal! i also really like when a writer is so confident in their own style or take that they are just vibing in their own lane, regardless of what tropes are popular in any given tag. idk if that actually answers the question, but there you go
šŸ¦‹ ā‡¢ share something that has been on your heart and mind latelyĀ
we're getting a lot of new fans navigating fandom spaces for the first time, which is neat!! and cool!! and i think it's good to remember the etiquette in fandom spaces, which is: (i) don't like, don't read (ii) fic writers, artists and creators are doing this for free and not beholden to anyone's time except their own! (iii) at the same time, comments to let writers know what you thought of a work, or if you enjoyed it are always really appreciated :) (iv) in that same token specifically for art, do nawwwt repost people's art without permission and without attribution or the fandom sad frog will get you (i am the frog).
it's not anything that's happened to me specifically but i feel like i've seen it in flyby instances enough recently that it's worth saying... again...
beetle i will answer later cus someone asked the same!! <3

*sigh* As someone who mainly watches the Good Doctorā€¦ for reasonsā€¦ despite its many, many flaws. At least itā€™s the last season and soon I will be free. a) I was elated to see Kayla Cromer in something. I even like Charlie, I think some of her writing fucking sucks. Specifically, sheā€™s very similar to Shaun in many respects, both are very opinionated and very outspoken and have a lot of issues reading social cues from others. (I have thought onthe general writing of autistic characters but thatā€™s a different and more complex point and others have likely made it) anyway. Their similarities are part of the reason they clash so severely, while some of their differences -Charlieā€™s needs more stimuli and externalizes her thoughts, I think and Shaun needs far less stimuli and internalizes a lot. That and imo Shaun has a lot of internalized ableism and trauma from working through his residency in abysmal conditions that heā€™s taking out on her. (Plz someone make this man go to therapy) Sheā€™s been there like two weeks. She needs consistent rules and boundaries set for her. She needs to be have a time to ask all of her questions and review her progress in a non-judgmental space. However she does need to learn better workplace etiquette and appropriate workplace conversation, Iā€™m not arguing sheā€™s not flawed by any means. But she deserves some grace -weā€™ll get more to that. Shaun changed tactics and rules every other day and gets mad at her for nothing. Tbh. He maybe shouldnā€™t be her teacher and the hospital shouldnā€™t force that, or needs to remind him to settle on boundaries and give it a week to see if she progresses in following those rules. But again, s/x accommodation is not forcing two disabled people with conflicting needs to work with each other if not absolutely necessary.
Now what more concerns me about her is that the fandomā€¦ fucking sucks in their rxn to her from what Iā€™ve seen. This is what I mean by her deserving some grace, Bc in the show admittedly a lot of characters are giving it to her. Sheā€™s like what? 21? Probably never worked before, a med student. Iā€™d guess has AuDHD and probably other disabilities and also. imho she is written to challenge Shaun, so that he has to learn more flexibility and learn how to be a better teacher -and therefore a better father. The fact that sheā€™s written very similarly to Shaun, but also oppositional to him and still needs to learn a lot that he has come a long way on mean people areā€¦ not reacting well to this head strong ND young woman and I do think itā€™s because of the intersection of her gender and disabilities. Is that entirely the writers fault? Admittedly no. But I think it could have been executed better.
b) Asher wasnā€™t a perfect character but he kinda was my favorite one on this show. So uh. Killing him -very probably, Iā€™d love to be wrong- in the middle of the last season. Wasā€¦ why? Like. Killing the only gay and Jewish characterā€¦ I think itā€™s a bit much for this show. I donā€™t think anyone needed to die this season. Certainly Iā€™m not entirely opposed to exploring that, but thereā€™s five episodes left. And thisā€¦.. itā€™s not the show for it Imo. This show has been about people succeeding despite the odds and so why is he the exception. Idk. Maybe Iā€™m wrong and he will live, I hope so, so take that one with a grain of salt. He looked really dead, thereā€™s was a lot of blood, I think the rabbi was saying the Jewish prayer for the dead at the end. So my hopes areā€¦ very low.
Anyway. Iā€™m going to go watch ā€œEverythingā€™s Gonna Be Okayā€. Which features far more interesting exploitation of autism and queerness that this show desperately wants to have but simply isnā€™t capable of.

This isnā€™t specifically about you and more about the anons, because Iā€™ve noticed that you sometimes get requests to respond to meta posts other people make and something about that makes me a bit uncomfortable. Since your meta posts are widely liked by a big part of this community, it sometimes feels like youā€™re being kinda requested to ā€ždebunkā€œ other meta posts. Diversity in opinions is so important for a good fandom atmosphere and some of the anons you get seem to wanna stir up hostility and I donā€™t like it. Since I like some of your meta posts, but also find myself agreeing with other people, I just feel weird about this dynamic, you know? How do you feel about it?
I think that's a fair concern but honestly, I don't see it as inherently a problem. This might be my 00s internet bias here lol, but I tend to view meta on a public platform as fair game for response or external commentary - which includes my own posts. My meta is here to be read by anyone who wants to, and to provoke thought and discussion, and that's generally what I assume of others' meta as well.
Like I recognize that attitudes have changed in the era of mostly unmoderated spaces and reblogs and the lack of diverse comms with their own norms and discourse running rampant lol, and so it's often considered automatically rude to disagree with people now, but I think that can only extend so far. Like, I don't reblog posts just to disagree with them (unless they're a friend and I know they're cool with discussion) because I know it sucks when you keep getting notes from people who are liking or reblogging the take you disagree with, but I don't think that should mean not discussing other people's meta at all, as long as it's done respectfully of course.
And I understand why someone might want a second opinion on something they read. I think everyone should think for themselves and form their own opinions, and I completely agree that diversity of opinion is important in any fandom. But not everyone has confidence in their own analysis, or the learned skills for criticism, and I think it's reasonable to seek out other viewpoints and decide which seems most correct to you, or use them as boucing off points to figure out what you believe. I definitely don't want to be the only Berserk meta blog out there, and I'm more than happy to agree to disagree with most people. I'm not an authority on the story lol and people are free to agree or disagree with me however they see fit.
That said, I'm always a little wary about tone and intent, especially in Berserk fandom, because I'm not here to get into arguments and I try to make that clear. But I take most asks in good faith. Sometimes I might go a little too far with that lol, but honestly I'd rather come across as naive than hostile. If I found out that someone was trying to start a fight between me and someone else, or was using my posts to dunk on someone else, or if followers of mine took it as a cue to harass someone, I'd absolutely say something and stop answering those asks. (Hopefully we're all chill enough over here that this doesn't happen, btw. As far as I'm aware I've never incited anything like that and I've personally only ever seen fandom arguments started by people mad about Griffith fans existing, but tbf I also don't pay attention to whatever's happening outside of my dash.)
But yeah I don't think that's what's happening here, and I don't want to assume someone's trying to start shit unless there's clear evidence for that. Like in the last ask I got like this, the anon did specify that they agreed with the post they wanted me to comment on, and were just seeking more opinions/wondering what my own take was, and I think that's reasonable.
Idk, this is definitely one of those things where I know there are different valid opinions about etiquette. But I generally abide by the 'do unto others' rule, including here. I blog with the expectation that anyone can read what I write and agree or disagree, and that I might inspire other discussion. Sometimes I get nervous about being linked to notably hostile fan spaces, like the berserk reddit, but it has happened with virtually the same motivation as those anons (what do you guys think of this person's take?) and ultimately I'm fine with it, and even a little flattered.
All that said, at the end of the day I do think that it would be best for anyone who sends an ask referencing someone else's analysis to be specific about what they want to know, rather than a general 'what do you think of this?' question. Both because it shows why you're asking and what you're interested in and leaves less room for doubting your motivation, and because it makes it easier to answer.

How to Write Optional Details in Fic/Fanwork Exchanges
Fic/Fanwork exchanges on Archive Of Our Own generally include a FAQ section that explains the general rules per exchange, but it can be hard for folks new to exchanges to pick up the nuances / etiquette of them. So, I wanted to make a quick post to talk about optional details.
What are optional details?
When making a request in an exchange, you will have the option to add optional details in addition to tags (fandom, relationships and/or characters, additional tags). This is where you can put prompts, general likes, and Do Not Wants.
What are Do Not Wants?
Do Not Wants are the most important part of the optional details. They are the only element that your writer must abide by. These are whatever you really donā€™t want in the fic you receive.
How do you write Do Not Wants?
DNWs should be written clearly and in a nonjudgemental way.
Good example 1: ā€œDNWs: animal cruelty/death, rape/noncon/dubcon, incest, non-canonical major character death, mundane AUs, public humiliation, xReader fic, ā€
- This states specifically what tropes and warnings you donā€™t want without any additional fluff.
Bad example 1: ā€œDNWs: gross sex, anything that triggers my squicks, anything that glorifies cruelty, incest because itā€™s disgustingā€
- This is incredibly vague and judgemental.
Bad example 2: ā€œDNWs: anything other than a coffee shop AU with Character A/Character B where Character B is a business executive who wakes up earlier than he shouldā€
- This attempts to use DNWs to force their writer to write one specific story. This is bad sportsmanship (the idea behind exchanges is that both people are happy, not that you are commissioning a specific story). It is also against general exchange rules (generally this is explicit in the rules, but it might not be written down).
How do you write the rest of the optional details?
Here is where you can include general likes, smut likes, and/or prompts. Your writer is not required to abide by anything but the DNWs, but they may take inspiration from your prompts and likes when writing. You donā€™t have to include anything other than your DNWs, if you donā€™t want to.
Good example 1: ā€œLikes: angst, hurt comfort, hurt no comfort, crossdressing and gender nonconformity, platonic relationships, non-linear narratives, first person POV, Trans Character Aā€
- Tropes, formats, subject matter, etc that you enjoy, which can be general and/or fandom specific.
Good example 2: ā€œPrompts: Character A & Character B has great potential for angst. What would happen if they were together during [angsty event in canon]? How would Character B have reacted if [canon divergence]? I would have loved to see Character B survive and finally get to talk things through with Character A. But I would be happy with anything with these two! Go wild, mystery author!ā€
- Gives ideas, asks questions, still leaves the author to write what they want.
Bad example 1: ā€œI donā€™t even like this fandom idk why Iā€™m even requesting it. the writing is terrible. Just give me Character A and Character B making out. Nothing else is even worth it in this fandom.ā€
- Donā€™t insult the fandom or your writer. If you donā€™t like it, donā€™t request it.
Bad example 2: ā€œAlright. So. Here we go. The word "Earth" comes from Old English. Old English, as a phrase, has two words: Old and English. Those words combined into one word makes Oldenglish. That is 10 letters. The number 10 has two numerals. Two multiplied by 333 is 666. 666 is the Devil. The Devil lives in hell. Hell is hot, according to Dante's portrayal of hell. Hot is associated with being attractive. Being attractive is socially acceptable. The opposite of socially acceptable is not socially acceptable. It is not socially acceptable to litter in your neighbor's driveway. Driveway and parkway sound similar. Parkway has the word "Park" in it. The word Park has the letter P. P is associated with Phosphorus. Phosphorus is flammable. Flames are associated with gas. Gas comes from farts. Farts have methane, which is a greenhouse gas. Greenhouse gases cause climate change. Climate change has the word climate. Climate is reported by the News. The News broadcasts. Broadcasting goes worldwide. The United States is part of the world. The United States was in the cold war. Freezers are cold. Dinosaur shaped nuggets go into a freezer, as they need to be kept cold. Conclusion: Earth=Dino nuggetsā€œ
- This is takes from a REAL REQUEST from a REAL EXCHANGE. It has nothing to do with the exchange, nothing to do with the request. Keep your optional details relevant to your request and the exchange. Save this stuff for your tumblr posts. It has no place here.
Bad example 3: ā€œThis is unrelated to the exchange, but hereā€™s a youtube link [unrelated youtube link].ā€
- Keep your optional details relevant to the exchange.
I hope this helped a bit if you are getting into exchanges!

*sighs and rubs eyes* as much as I love jjk I think Iā€™ll be okay when the series ends, not just because the series will likely have wrapped at a time before it stretches beyond whatā€™s necessary and gege can rest a bit since weekly popular manga is exhausting to maintain as a mangaka, but also because the leak culture is so strong in this fandom that itā€™s at the point where no matter how many tags I use to filter, from like Wednesday to Saturday I see significant spoilers unless I just donā€™t come on here or really any social network for that matter (and sometimes even just being out and about, and hell even YouTube and other sources where you canā€™t avoid it).
perhaps itā€™s the old grumpy person in me who remembers a time when it wasnā€™t this bad but damn itā€™s so prevalent in this fandom now that itā€™s unavoidable and etiquette is hard to come by. Spoilers happen, leaks and early posting of entire chapters are a thing, and I get that, Iā€™m not bothered about that, but thereā€™s something about how that occurs in the jjk fandom that it justā€¦idk itā€™s different. I used to be fine just avoiding Fri/Sat scans but these days it starts Wednesday and gets louder and louder until Saturday when scanlations drop, because of the leaks that the fandom reads and then proceeds to react and act like everyone is reading the leaks and if youā€™re not that you deserve to be spoiled. And it truly makes me irritated.
Itā€™s at a point now that I donā€™t look for leaks and spoilers, but leaks are just the thing in this fandom that despite trying to avoid spoilers Iā€™m spoiled thanks to algorithms and lack of tagging and folks just throwing images out for clicks, and Iā€™m not the only one experiencing this. Idk.
I do my best to tag my stuff since I know thereā€™s anime onlys out there and folks who havenā€™t read the newest chapters when theyā€™re out Sundays, but Iā€™m sure folks have still been spoiled by something Iā€™ve posted so Iā€™m not a saint. But idk it shouldnā€™t be a thing that, in order to avoid manga spoilers as a manga reader, leaks have to be read Wednesdays even before the Fri/Sat scanlation but whatever, Iā€™m exhausted and getting annoyed with coming online to decompress after work and getting spoiled bc I forgot itā€™s Wednesday and folks donā€™t tag their leak-based spoilers, or I didnā€™t tag filter the newest chapter number in abbreviated and expanded form and every other specific tag, or an algorithm says ā€œoh you like jjk?ā€ and shoves an untagged unmarked or unmoderated leak in my face

I really think this fandom scares too easy when it comes to the possibility of ccs joining Tumblr. I know why people are worried, especially with past events, and I understand that not everyone wants them here, and frankly I don't really care either way. But it really seems that we assume the worst if a cc joins.
sure, its rarely as bad as we imagine it to be.
however. empiresblr had to talk to scott/the empires ccs directly and ask them to give us a bit of space, bc theyd talk abt empiresblr on stream, and also scott joined a fan discord and didnt say anything for several hours. that was a degree of perception that the tumblr mcyt fandom was not expecting and was shocked and scared to go through, because we're not used to it! and now the empires ccs who are here are chill, because scott asked vyeoh why people were upset and vio explained why, and they established a boundary from which we can mutually respect one another.
bdubs on the other hand is a bit harder to reach (doesnt have any specific fandom members on speed dial), AND was just openly talking about his recent interactions with stan twitter in a stream. a members only stream, sure, but a stream nonetheless! and he talked abt how he's been lurking to see what people are up to. it's absolutely not a leap of logic to assume that bdubs could talk about the tumblr community publicly, esp in an embarrassing or negative way. what's more is that, because so much of the current hermitblr/trafficblr etiquette revolves around tag filtering, it's entirely possible bdubs would join tumblr and not figure out how to avoid certain things!
I'm of the opinion that if a CC wants to join tumblr of their own volition, they're welcome to! but directly inviting them into tumblr feels like a step too far. (the exception, imo, being situations where a CC wants to leave twitter or be less active there, like Eret; in that case they're a twitter refugee and its 100% fair game to say "hey tumblr is over here and we're more normal".)
idk something about this ask is just really rubbing me the wrong way. why do you Care. if people get scared at the idea of a cc joining tumblr and it all works out in the end and ppl stop being afraid what does it matter. over time if more ccs join we'll probably get less and less afraid so again. Why Do You Care. if bdubs joins tumblr half the fandom will scatter and the other half will bombard him with maid dresses and he'll either think we're weird and leave or he'll pass the vibe check and stick around, so why are you complaining about How People Feel in my inbox

Just curious bc Idk much about fandom etiquette and stuff, but what's the difference between commissioning fanart and commissioning fanfiction? Why is fanart okay but fanfiction isn't?
tbh i really don't know the answer. commissioning fanart is seen as acceptable while commissioning fanfic is more controversial, and i think it's because commissioned fanfic is more recognizable as an intellectual property, so it ends up being tied up in copyright and all that--anne rice used to sue people over fanfiction, for instance. but for some reason, transformative illustration is considered fine, perhaps because it's a different medium? i don't understand it, because to me, they're both part of fandom and while i understand that doing commissions helps an artist especially during tough financial spins, it seems contrary to the gift/no-money-made spirit of fandom. it's also unfair to any other type of fandom creator, like writers or gifmakers, and i don't think the solution is that we should be paying writers too, i just think that commissioning for fanart specifically is...hmm. i don't know. this is a very very unpopular opinion i think but i don't agree with it.
