Hi! Can I have the non-human companions' reaction to a male sole that is very protective of them? Like if they're at a bar and someone shouts "get out of here freak/bucket of bolts/etc" he's beating the crap out of them immediately and when he's done he just goes back to the said companion and is all caring like "are you ok? Non-Human Companions React to M!Sole Being Protective (Includes: Curie, Codsworth, Hancock, Nick, Strong and X6-88)

Curie She insists that Sole didn't have to go to all that trouble for her, she understands that some people are bound to dislike her simply based on her appearance and although that can be disheartening, she's come to accept it. She's a little shocked by how Sole reacts, he's never been particularly violent if he can help it, but it's more how quickly his mood changes afterwards when he goes to check on her that catches her more off guard than anything. She can't help but feel touched by the gesture though, it's nice to know that there's someone willing to look out for her.

Codsworth The Commonwealth is a lot different than it was 210 years ago, Codsworth still remembers the days when people would clamour at the opportunity to have their very own Mr. Handy. Now, all he seems to be is target practice or scrap metal to the inhabitants of the wasteland. Nevertheless, that doesn't mean he's immune to how some people tend to treat him. While Sole's act of violence is quite concerning to him, Codsworth does find himself grateful that his old friend is willing to defend him against the abuse he's become accustomed to. Codsworth assures Sole he's fine and insists that he doesn't cause so much ruckus on his behalf, but he will make a point to thank him profusely for caring, even if he is just a robot butler.

Hancock While Goodneighbor is more than welcoming to people from all walks of life, Hancock isn't blind to the treatment of his kind outside the walls. He'd seen it with his own brother in Diamond City and Hancock wishes that he'd fought as hard for the exiled ghouls as Sole had just fought for him. The name calling doesn't bother him, really, he's heard it all before and he can handle himself. What catches him off guard is Sole beating the bigot that had insulted him to a pulp. He does figure that Sole might owe him one, considering Hancock had handled Finn for him the day they'd met. Still, he assures Sole that he's fine and clarifies that he can fight his own battles, not that the show Sole had put on wasn't entertaining to watch.

Nick Valentine Being around as long as Nick has, he knows what people think of his kind and sometimes it can be hard to blame them. The Institute are dangerous and they've taken countless lives for their own selfish gain, even though it's not his fault he has to walk around looking like their poster boy, he can understand why people might take out their frustration on him. Of course, that doesn't mean he isn't quick to bite back to defend himself. On this occasion though, Sole was quicker and much more vicious and Nick had barely managed to comprehend what had just happened before Sole was back at his side asking if he was okay. Nick was fine, as usual, and only might a slightly irritated remark about Sole using his words next time rather than his fists, before thanking him.

Strong He doesn't really understand the insult being thrown at him and, although he definitely will try to join in, he isn't too sure as to why Sole is attacking a random civilian. Once Sole has made sure that Strong is okay - which, of course, he is - and once he's explained what had just happened and why, Strong isn't particularly bothered, he knows Super Mutants are the superior race, the comments of a "puny human" won't change that.

X6-88 A snide remark from a worthless scavenger means absolutely nothing to him, but apparently it means a lot to Sole, who doesn't hesitate to give the scavenger a beatdown and make him apologise to X6. He decides to wait, rather impatiently, for Sole to be done, before asking that he doesn't cause such a scene again for something so meaningless. Deep down though, Sole knows that's his way of saying thank you.

(This is not a continuation nor a prequel, but it does involve the same idea of the post I've mentioned before, which by the way, is old and has some cringey text!)

Christopher was many things, including socially unaware, or at least socially awkward. Yes, the guy was smart, handsome and that edgy grumpy aesthetic could be pretty charming- He looked like a half-dead, lanky librarian with a bad eyesight and that was probably why a lot of people flocked to him.

The man wasn't goth, but he was gothic, ya know? The man was built like a tree and somehow, people just seemed really interested in him! He never really understood why, he just wants to be left alone!! Please!!

He hates having people surround him constantly and talking way too loud, way too close to his face all the time- Seriously, they won't get a kiss doing that? (Which by the way, ew?! Ew. Is what he would think).

He is a very distant person, and he seems to purposefully push people away from him, but he tends to not do that with you- Most of the time.

You were a stalker, it was quite simple, even if he DID make an effort you would still follow him, wouldn't you?!

You were annoying, frankly he knew all about your… "Admiration". Seriously, you're not being sneaky, sugar cube. You were more persistent than the other ones, which was probably how you managed to weasel your way into his life.

… No, that's not true, although he is as friendly as a cactus to everyone including you, he really appreciates your company. You weren't really all that bad at all, but you had a way to make him frustrated that he didn't know how to describe.

So when he sees you avoiding him recently he feels like you're just trying way too hard to make him worried for you- Frankly, he thinks your game of cold-shoulder is dumb and should stop right now!-

Chris didn't think you were doing it on purpose at first, well, to be honest at first he was glad to have his own space for a few days! Especially since he was already busy studying, he could be a smart person but he studying was a focusing nightmare to him-

Then later, after the test week, you still seemed very distant… He thought you were finally focusing on your education like you always complained about, hell, he even came to you one day and told you how proud he was! Even inviting you to study in his house!! He never does that!

Oh… But you didn't understand why he was so happy, and he didn't understand why you rejected his offer… He was wrong on his assumption, then? Or did you really not want to spend time with him?

"As expected, I don't even know why I assumed you would be studying, let me guess- You were too focused on another random piece of media this week? Do I know it? We could talk about it on the way out, like always right?" He wasn't the best with words, and neither with his tone. Yet he was genuinely expecting you to talk to him about it, like you always do!... You didn't. You answered in a hurry and scurried away.

Maybe you were just in a hurry, maybe if he was lucky he'll be able to catch you to walk with him home.

You didn't, but worse than not finding you was seeing you walking around with one of your so-called friends. Mylo, was it? Well, it could be worse… Annie was a LOT more annoying to deal with.

Always so possessive of you, it didn't seem like a healthy friendship at all yet you never took his words seriously… Always so protective of you, as if a leaf couldn't fall on your head that you just break under pressure! [Y/n] is their own individual, ANNIE!!

Says the mf following you two-

Mylo was a lot less direct about his discomfort regarding your crush, well… Your friend had his own motives, and of course he would NEVER do anything to hurt his best friend! But he couldn't bring himself to be mean towards Christopher, maybe he just simply couldn't be mean to anyone perhaps…

So interactions between these two were often civil, polite, yet very not pleasant. Chris never understood how you could be friends with those two, they were clearly obsessed with you.

Wait… was.. Was that why you haven't been able to spend time with him at all?! Because of GODDAMN MYLO?!

"HEY!!" He yelled out as he made his previously hidden presence known, acting as if he just came close to you know and that he hasn't been following you two for a long time now-

Despite your clear confusion since technically the route is fairly different from the one you usually take to go home- He brushed it off by simply placing his right arm above your shoulders and around your neck, being in the middle between you and Mylo.

Who, by the way, noticed it but didn't even try to change the situation.

"Ah, I missed walking around like this! [Y/n], why didn't you tell me you were going this way before? I was planning on going to that ice cream shop you always told me about- Where have you been lately, by the way?"

He is very not subtle about this, he is trying but he can't lie about how his true intentions here is trying to deviate you from walking with your friend. Oh, you were going to his home to play games? So he'll come too, obviously, and if Mylo doesn't want that then too bad! Guess Game Friday will have to be another day!!

Oh… Mylo doesn't… think it's a bad idea to have you two over… That wasn't really the plan, especially since Chris doesn't like to be in someone's house that he doesn't know well enough.

".....ffffffFINE!! Great even!!" He was fuming, it was very obvious how displeased he was with the situation, but he would be damned if he backed down now!

→ Christopher Hill:

He is a dumb-dumb, he'll take a long time to realize he is jealous and then proceed to do everything in his power to make it everyone else's problem.

He doesn't even know he likes you so much, or that all the bad things he says about your friends could be attributed to him.

He finds them possessive and obsessed with you, but he goes out of his way to insert himself on your little "friend hangout" even if it pains him to no end. In this scenario, I mentioned Mylo who isn't very confrontational, and actually is very interested in hanging out with your crush (he is very curious about why you like this twig of a human being so much… maybe he understands it a little bit…).

Annie is almost the complete opposite, she finds Chris's game of cat and mouse with you really unhealthy and wishes you could fall out of love for this guy already- I-It isn't love!! It's just a stupid crush on a stupid guy that never treats you how you deserve to be treated! Annie is very likely to start arguing with Chris over the smallest of things (but never addressing the actual issue in your presence, you don't need to see them at their worst like that…).

Christopher is very awkward with his words, and part of him knows he'll end up losing you for his own condescending tone and overly grumpy attitude- So he doubles down on his bad traits to try to protect himself from the inevitable. But the other part of him thinks you're just playing around, trying to provoke these reactions out of him on purpose, trying to make him jealous because you're so obsessed with him you want to see him be in your shoes for once, is that it?!

Sugar cube, you have NO idea how aggravating it is to suddenly not be in your spotlight, to be ignored without a warning. And for what- Your weird friends?! Oh it just brings out the worst in him.

In the case he gets to spend time with you even in your friend's presence (I'll use the previous scenario for example) he'll be attached to you like a bug, all those previous annoyances with your sudden touch seem to jump out of his mind- He becomes very clingy especially since your friends are very touchy.

Game Friday Night won't be the same with him there, and that goes to every other special friend time you guys may have- He isn't subtle, he doesn't know how to, but he does know how to make you feel guilty. You haven't talked with him in so long! What were you thinking?!

But of course, he won't be AS obvious about it as he doesn't mean to put the blame entirely at you, because it's not your fault, right? It's Mylo's fault, and Chris just needs to get back to the previous schedule-

Where it should be just you and him, the two dummies in their "will they won't they" FRIENDSHIP!! He just needs to take their place, you want game nights? Why not play with him in his house? His bedroom is a lot bigger than yours and Mylo's combined- But if luxury isn't the problem then maybe you'll appreciate the variety of things you two can play.

If he finds your friendships to be really taking a toll on your life (if you continue to ignore him) he might have to turn his offers from demands to orders, sugar cube! Of course he would never do anything to hurt you, but he is literally doing this for your own good, and if you continue to be so childish he might think you've been completely influenced by your friends.

Christopher is a lot more demanding and controlling than the other characters, not above being brutish with you if it means you'll actually listen to him for once! The initially petty, stubborn jealous man can turn into a controlling, raging angst if you don't be careful enough.

I love it when you dive into the psyche stuff with Margie and Raf. I swear I learn something new about myself every time I read a post about them. It's nice that they're both very patient and supportive with each other and that their struggles overlap in a way that grants them more empathy than they might have had otherwise. That said I'm curious to know how they clash, if at all. Does either of them have symptoms that triggers or exasperates the other's symptoms? How do they manage it?

aaa so, chiefly, the relationship between these two is built on a pretty fundamental feature of "'winning' a situation/conflict is not more important than my partner's well being"--In that, like, they're both very proactive in looking at their situation and assessing if they're responsible for aggravating the situation/provoking a response, and to what extent. So typically, once they realize a situation has gotten away on them, they're both able to take a pause and even physically separate for a hot moment if need be--and then try and figure out what happened, what can be done, and apologize in earnest for any misinterpretation or disproportionate responses, etc. It's usually both of them apologizing to each other after identifying out loud out their own missteps/contributions, and it's usually fine. So a 'big' emotionally charged conflict between them might last like...an hour at most before before it deescalates into more co-operative conversation. Because neither of them want to "win" the fight, they just wanna not be mad at each other and see the other person comfortable--which requires understanding why they're mad rather than leveraging the other's angry response as against them, etc.

Funnily enough, this kind of...conflict resolution style wasn't Raf's initiative (he tends to be a lot more reticent to admit wrongdoing and apologize, lest it be used against him...and he's got a really bad habit of tallying up transgressions in his head and letting those grudges inform him on how much leeway he's willing to give someone before he decides they're straight-up unlikable)--but rather, it's always been Margie's way of negotiating conflict. Probably because she grew up with a very autistic brother, and being able to step away/leave the situation, calm down, and then reconvene to communicate their exact feelings and what provoked those feelings (in a weirdly dispassionate/objective manner of collaborative analysis) was a pretty critical part of her good relationship with him--a solution that evolved organically between them. And, since it worked so well with her brother (and frequently with her parents as well, wherein she'd often be applauded for her show of 'emotional maturity' or whatever lmao), she tries to employ this method with everyone close to her. It doesn't always work out... Earlier in her relationship with Raf, she'd always be first to apologize for provoking certain reactions out of him. As well, she just...never gets angry in response to someone being angry with her. She's also maybe a little too quick to apologize sometimes, which initially would have rubbed Raf the wrong way as being kinda manipulative/insincere (which, it kind of is...but not in a manner employed to gain any kind of upper hand over him)--to which he would deliberately avoid apologizing in response. He'd drop it instead, and act like nothing was wrong in the first place...which (whether consciously or not) is a manipulation tactic of his own, designed to provoke some variation of a "well wait, you were wrong and you need to give me apology" response from her. Which, of course, never came lmao. If Raf says "whatever, it's fine", unless she is also frustrated with herself, she'll take his word at face value. (the same way she does for everyone). Eventually, this leads him to to carefully admit when he feels his reactions are disproportionate. And, after while of that consistently leading to no further aggravation, his short hand to her "Sorry, I didn't mean to/I didn't mean it like that!" becomes a simple "I know. Sorry I barked at you." The gradual comfort of being 'wrong' in those very tiny, low-stake situations is what gives him the confidence to risk admitting he may be "wrong" in bigger conflicts. If, at any point--even once, Margie had taken this vulnerability and wielded it against him in any situation, he'd never let himself 'fall for it' again. But that's yet to happen. Still, it feels disproportionately risky for him to admit out loud, in earnest, that he had any part to play in a misunderstanding or in the construction of a bad situation--Like turning your back on an enemy who is poised to stab you with a knife.

Raf generally tends to be agreeable in most situations, he's a well practiced diplomat despite his disordered outlook and interpretations of things. But--he is stubbornly unapologetic. He'll drop the topic, insist it's no big deal to him anyway, tell you it's fine, to never mind, do what you want, etc. But he won't tell you it's 'his bad' or that he's sorry about anything. And if you don't meet him where's he's at with that then, in his mind, you've become The Problem. Forever. However, his care for Margie and her wellbeing bolsters his conscious efforts to treat her well, even at risk to himself. He'd rather end up in a situation where she's proven to him beyond a shadow of doubt that she never really cared about him and has been using him this whole time--than end up in a situation where he becomes a traumatic ex; someone that hurts her to think about. Therapy helped him determine that, at least in this situation, misplacing his trust is marginally less injurious to him than misplacing his suspicions. But sometimes, it takes him a hot moment to remember this and respond accordingly. Sometimes, it takes him more than a hot moment. Margie's there when he does come around to it though. She has her clear lines in the sand and--though I don't doubt that he's come close in his most fearful moments--he's never crossed them. With that said, yeah--I dunno LOL Raf is clinically predisposed to believe that he is being taken advantage of, or that he will be taken advantage of by anyone, at any given time. Margie can become pretty careless when she is very enthusiastic/eager for something, and her forward momentum does sometimes steamroll right over his toes. It can be more than a little challenging for Raf to stay grounded and respond reasonably when Margie lets excited desire drive her blindly forward at mach speeds when he feels like he's being dragged behind her. Other times, she'll try to dig into why he responded a certain way before he's had time to process and compartmentalize it for himself, all because she feels badly and wants to figure things out with him so that they can both feel better about it. He's learned that this is easily resolved with a terse "I love you, but holy shit, give me some fucking space, please." Which--usually warrants its own apology but, yanno...she gets it. Margie can be very "go go go, this is exciting, this is so fun, this is all that matters right now!! Oof--ow, shit, I hit something, was that a speed bump??" and Raf is often very "wait, what? Wait what!? Wait, that's all that matters?! Wait, what??? Hit the fucking breaks, that speed bump was me and now I am fucking dying." and that's usually where most of their conflict/clashing occurs. Margie will feel disproportionately ashamed/embarrassed/rejected, Raf will feel disproportionately slighted/put upon/mistreated. And if they didn't agree to talk to each other about it, with a shared, genuine desire to see each other in a state of comfort, their relationship probably couldn't thrive.

Hello!!! I totally understand, when I was first getting into tbitb anyone who wasn't the main four was like, "he sure was in that boat...."

Honestly, it just took staring at photos and looking up all tbitb content I could find to finally nail everyone down, but here's a guide that I hope helps!!

(Also, these are just my interpretations, so please don't feel like you have to follow this at all. Since these are the fictionalized versions of the rowers, you can really read/write them a variety of ways!!!)

He's the team captain, a bit reserved but from what we see from the movie, he's invested in helping others and I like to think he's great at keeping morale up.

Tall man, I think the tallest of all the actors? Irl I guess he was very quiet, but in the movie, he's the one to start singing the school song and help get Don at the piano, so I imagine once his shell is broken, he can be the life of the party. Thoughtful, sincere are other qualities I see in him as well.

My mom had no comment but always nodded when he and Johnny were on screen so I guess that's a good sign.

Johnny:

Johnny!!! Unassuming, but more extroverted than Gordy imo. He's the most resistant to change, but once he sees the brighter side, then he's much more willing to flip the switch. According to the book, irl Johnny would use the word "foul" a lot when describing things he didn't like

Chuck:

He has just as much fiery energy as Bobby, quick to react, quick to realize his mistakes. Passionate and determined, gets frustrated when people can't get their heads out of their asses.

Hallo—I’ve got a few asks like this (asking ab the next chapter) and I’m not sure yet!! Sorry T_T When stuff gets hectic irl it means I have to actually focus on my real-life tasks and the stuff that isn’t immediate tends to fall by the wayside!

Also, as a quick note—this ask is lovely, and so many other people’s have been! I do appreciate the very hyper-polite way people have been asking about updates, lmao. I get it, I’ve been on the other side where I just want to reach through the screen and shake the author and just go UPDATE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, lol.

But a gentle reminder to some that I write fanfic as a hobby! I don’t have an update schedule because I don’t enjoy forcing myself to write—whilst I’m buzzing that IW has so many people who like it and are eager for more content, I do ultimately write for myself and for my own enjoyment. I’ve had some asks that have been pretty blunt, semi-demanding a new update, or just point-blank stating how long it’s been since a new update and that I should be getting a new one up soon. Nothing crazy, and it’s really just unpleasant at its worst. But still, I’d prefer not to get them if possible lmao! Look—there is absolutely no way that I’m ever leaving IW unfinished, I can assure you, but I make no promises (and never have) about *when* that is.

Again, I understand the frustration—I read ao3 fics too!! I’ve been there!! I’m sorry that I’m not getting this out speedier!! But I don’t enjoy getting messages like those, and they definitely don’t make me write any faster, lol.

I finally got the 1st Seihou Project game, Shuusou Gyoku, to run on my computer!! And I got my first Normal 1cc. So to celebrate I wanted to make a post discussing my feelings on it so far. (Plus links to download the game for yourself)

[NOTE: This is exclusively about gameplay, from the perspective of a Touhou enthusiast, so no lore or history, sorry!]

Seihou was meant to be a sort of "sister series" to Touhou, and it definitely shows in many of the patterns, but there are some key differences.

Seihou tends to have lower bullet density overall, but the bullets themselves are Much faster, and the enemies are much more aggressive, with little time to take a breath during bosses and midbosses. Some bosses/enemies even try to tackle you rather than shoot.

Because of this, routing and memorization are more of a factor, but, pulling off a pre-planned dodge for a pattern that would otherwise obliterate you before you even saw it coming, is very satisfying. And there are plenty of areas that can reward improvisation or quick thinking too, so it's not ALL memorization, which I like. A decent mix of both, at least for Easy-Hard difficulties.

Seihou also highly prioritizes grazing; you fill up a gauge as you graze, and this both increases the score you get from the star items, and gives you some extra powerful shots when you collect them. While figuring out Exactly where the hitboxes are can take a bit of trial and error, pulling off a long graze combo and then decimating the enemies with your extra firepower is also super satisfying, AND the benefits kick in at just 1 graze, so even in low density patterns you can milk the rewards by chasing stray bullets to keep the gauge filled.

The only downside to this system is that a lot of the best grazing is done on bosses, and since the bosses never drop star items you can never use your extra shots against them. (With the exception of when the Stage 4 boss sends out some killable enemies)

As for the general design; while the stages can be a bit simple overall, there are some segments that shake things up or try to catch you off-guard, like enemies coming in from the sides to tackle you, or a cool unusual pattern, which I appreciate. The bosses are more challenging and some of them have pretty cool attacks, but sometimes they can also be a little plain...... and sometimes they can be total BS.

Which brings me to my critiques........

There is no way to earn extra lives via good play. You get 3 extra lives at set points (Stage 2, 5, and 6), and that's it. So the only reward for excellent grazing/dodging/scoring is, well, the score itself. Not unusual but I tend to prefer games that give extra rewards for good performance

The hitboxes on the Bomb and Life items are WAY smaller than they appear, so much so you can pass straight through the left or right sides and still not collect them. This can make catching them a pain, particularly in stages where you are Instantly shot at after they drop. Come on, man, just make the hitbox the size of the sprite for vital resources........

The sound and graphic design is....... mixed. The music is pretty good, but the sound design is not as clean as I'd like (plus certain bullets/lasers being...... slightly eardrum-piercing), and the graphics can can cause visibility issues. The biggest offender is Stage 4, which has some backgrounds that make it near impossible to read the enemies flying down at you. Borderline unfair at points.

There are also some bullets that are super tiny, and they're usually used as 'spam' IN COMBINATION with either homing or complex patterns, making them a HUGE pain in the ass. Might not be a Criticism per se but I did want to complain lmao

There is no grace window when you're hit, but dying doesn't cancel out a bomb activation, so what will often happen is: you'll see you're about to get hit, press Bomb the second you do, and then you lose BOTH a life AND one of your freshly replenished bombs. Very frustrating

I think that's it for now! There are some quality of life improvements I wish it had, like item magnetizing or deathbombing, but overall I've been having a LOT of fun with this game, and I think people who love the Touhou games should give them a try!!

I've got to know, whats the process to your artwork, like how did you learn to draw poses and features as you do? Sorry if that's an odd question, just genuinely curious!

oh, that’s not an odd question; i appreciate asks like these haha! unfortunately my answer to this is going to be a bit long, so apologies in advance for that.

for poses, i devote an hour or two per week to practice a lot of figure drawing. it basically entails me collecting some references for poses, like the pose tool from posespace or pinterest (especially if i’m looking for some dynamic poses, though that entails being creative in how i search), and just... draw these poses from sight to the best of my ability. how i learn and how i practice is really just that. it's a great way for me to build a mental library of poses i can fall back to if i'm feeling like drawing freely without references.

but figure drawing can be hard and exhausting, and it takes time to work up to a point of drawing one figure for 10-20 minutes straight. and if that practice were my actual drawing process every time, i'd easily get frustrated every time i draw. so instead, (especially if you're starting out!) i recommend looking into gesture drawing, a method of capturing the dynamism of a pose in under a minute or a couple of minutes, or even a couple of seconds, without worrying so much about proportions and whatnot. imo this stuff is actually the backbone of figure drawing, because if you're not considering the overall movement of a character and just drawing the parts of the body individually, your character is going to look stiff and inanimate. think of gesture drawing as if it were like writing an outline to a school essay, before writing the essay! (in fact, i actually find that there are many components of gesture drawing which have wormed its way into my style.)

i guess face features are a different thing, because i tend to take bits and pieces of what i like from different artists' styles, and meld them into some alloy that is my style. sometimes i also do some face studies, but…not that much.

as for a general overall process to my artwork, i actually can’t give you a cookie-cutter recipe to do so; if you squint at my posts, you might notice that each does a different approach. it’s because i’m constantly experimenting with how i draw, and i’m constantly being inspired (re: borrowing some ideas) by many, many artists who do fantastic work all around. but...maybe i can give a simplified idea of my process, if that helps?

say that i'm drawing a character doing a thing. i would imagine the pose that the character is doing, maybe collect some references on said pose, and do a quick gesture draw using those references before drawing the character over that sketch while fixing proportions or whatever else. i guess an example of this would look something like:

(i used this reference, which unfortunately isn't really a great example since it's a photo of a toy and not a human figure, but whatever.)

but as i said, this is pretty simplified for a process; the actual process depends! it can be hella messy, hella disorganized, and hella experimental. hell, most of the time i don't even follow the above two steps; for the sake of economizing my time (re: laziness), i tend to fall back on my mental library of poses (for the better or for the worse i guess). as for my coloring process...i'm still trying to figure that one out lmao

Tell me about Danse and Cait? I've never played their parts of 4 and I probably never will.

i do not blame you. Fallout 4 can be frustrating because it's very. hm. it feels like a lot of wasted potential. i love it, but it could have (and should have) been... more, y'know? this is especially true for both Danse and Cait; i tend to prefer the fanon for these two over the canon because canon just feels like a lot of missed opportunities lmao

you find Cait as a chem-addicted cage fighter in the Combat Zone, a pre-war theater that's been retrofitted into an arena and is (at the time) occupied by raiders. after going whole hog and killing all the raiders, the owner of the venue basically gives you Cait's contract, stating that until he finds a new audience, she's not going to be able to make him any caps. it's also implied that he's getting concerned about her health, as she's been using chems to keep fighting when she really shouldn't be. she hates it but cooperates, and as you travel together and treat her like a person, she's initially suspicious about your intentions. eventually she trusts you enough to tell you why she's so distrustful of people, and uh... yeah her backstory is rough. her parents were shitty and abusive, and ended up selling her into slavery -- you can imagine the kinds of horrible things that she endured. eventually she was able to buy her own freedom using caps she stole from the people who abused her, and once free, she went home and gunned down her parents. but the damage was done, and she turned to chems in an effort to cope with her past.

her personal quest is... hm. i don't care for it. it's not... it's not well done. basically to summarize, Cait wants to be freed from her addictions, but she doesn't know how and addictol won't work anymore, and going cold turkey would kill her. conveniently, Vault 95 happens to have a magic solution. it's all very contrived and bullshit, and it's very much so a case of the writer wanting to resolve a complex issue with a simple solution. if it were me at the writer's desk, i would've thrown out the Vault bullshit entirely and made it a much more drawn out thing where you have to actually sit with her as she goes through withdrawal at first, but gradually improves and recovers. Cait deserved better than the quick-and-lazy resolution she got.

Danse's story is pretty heavily tied up in the Brotherhood of Steel questline. he's the one who recruits you and guides you up until it's revealed that he has been a synth the whole time. not even he was aware of this up until you retrieve some data from the Institute. when he learns what he is, he flees the Brotherhood, and Elder Maxson sends you to find him and kill him. i prefer not to do this because i like Danse a lot, and i think the concept behind his story is really interesting. i just wish Fallout 4 had done more with it. if they'd taken it just a little bit further, Danse could have had some truly compelling character growth, maybe even going so far as to find pride in his new identity as a synth and possibly even joining the Railroad. but... they didn't, and it sucks because it feels like he only got half a story.

First things first, I’m an adult so I can’t be shipped with any minors, so no Camilo or Mirabel please. I’m also bisexual, so I don’t mind whether you ship me with a man or a woman. And by the way, I also have autism and stim by pacing if that means anything.

Physically I’m a really short adult, I’m only like 5’ tall (152 cm) because I have multiple disabilities, one of which stunted my growth. I have chronic pain basically everywhere but especially in my joints like my hands, hips, back and knees. Just today I’m wearing arthritis gloves, knee braces, compression socks and a scoliosis brace so I kinda look ready to be hospitalized lol. I also faint a lot because of blood pressure issues, and I have asthma and weak bones too. Medically I’m kind of a mess. Anyways, I also have really long wavy (and fluffy) brown hair, glasses and pale skin with lots of moles and freckles. I’m surprisingly muscular but still really slim. My style also switches between masculine and feminine a lot, and I even tend to combine the two. Today I’m wearing a long ankle-length skirt and also a biker’s cut denim jacket on top with a black t-shirt.

I have a bunch of little nervous habits like knocking on wood to prevent jinxes (like Bruno!), biting my lip when I’m nervous, pacing and flapping my hands, making little noises and humming to myself (kinda like Dolores). I’m also learning Greek and Spanish as second languages! I talk with my hands a lot, and I tell crazy stories from my life. I can imagine Mirabel complaining about Isabela and then I’m just like “My siblings used to put me in a trash can and roll me down the stairs” lol. I would also definitely gift Dolores some headphones because I can get pretty loud without really noticing.

I work as a librarian currently, but I’m also learning screenwriting in hopes of actually working at Pixar someday! I write a ton, I have a journal that I’ve kept going for years now, and I’ve picked up a lot of different crafts like sewing and leatherworking.

I’m very polite and extremely friendly, including being really bubbly and excitable. I feel like, maybe aside from the denim jacket, I might be the kind of person even Abuela would like lmao. I shake people’s hands when greeting them and am generally very polite and a little nervous. But it’s easy for me to make people laugh because I have a witty and sarcastic sense of humor, especially combined with my weird life stories. I’m really soft and surprisingly good at giving advice, I’ve often been called “wise beyond my years”. Not only do I think being angry is a waste of energy, but I also just don’t like confrontation. I avoid it at all times, which can cause some people to walk over me. It’s definitely not as bad as it used to be, but I do still avoid it as much as I can. When I do get mad though (or just upset in general), I get really quiet at first then I snap, but that’s really really rare.

I am an emotional person, but I’m really bad when it comes to talking about them and showing them, which can be quite frustrating. It can be hard for me to show my vulnerable side to others, but I do feel emotions very deeply. I am very sensitive, especially when it comes to my appearance and personality. I’m always afraid that people are constantly judging me or hate me, which is why I tend to avoid public spaces or being around people in general. I have bad depression and anxiety as well as borderline personality disorder, but I am currently taking medication that helps with that so I’m at least stable. Kankuro from Naruto!

As I mentioned, it was a super hard decision to make; it was such a close call between him and Shikamaru! But, in the end, I decided to side with our one and only puppetmaster. Without further ado, let's delve into why!:

First of all, I believe that your aesthetic is one that Kankuro finds attractive! Appearance isn't make-or-break for him, by any means, but most often it is the factor about someone that catches his initial interest. I think he'll find that combo of dark hair and blue-green eyes rather striking! Then, it's obvious that he'll appreciate your fashion sense; he's very much about that grunge/emo look—and the color black, of course! That being said, he definitely doesn't care when you switch gears and wear more cutesy things, too! He thinks it's pretty neat, the fact that you can make such conflicting styles look equally stunning. :)

Appearance may be what draws Kankuro in, but personality it definitely what makes him stick around—and I think yours meshes really well with his own! Kankuro also is slow to open up to someone and grows a little more outgoing as he does so, in comparison to his distant and gruff appearance. He's still very much an introvert overall, though, like yourself; he has his people that he enjoys spending time with and is loyal to, but sometimes he has to step away from even them and recharge his social battery.

Kankuro may not seem like he's interested in anything other than puppets, but actually, he shares your boundless curiosity for anything and everything he can learn! He's 100% the type to ramble on about any random topic to someone who will listen, so the fact that it's an activity you not only indulge but enjoy is a big plus for him. It becomes a little game with you two—finding a topic for the day and accruing as many little facts about it as you can to rave about later! Kankuro very easily finds himself absorbed in things, but, unlike you, he's not a procrastinator—neither in important matters or personal whims. Don't think that's a negative, though! Kankuro doesn't get annoyed by it. He'll give you gentle reminders or pushes when he feels you need it, and you're one to remind him that it's important to go at an even pace. In that way, you balance each other!

Another quality that you and Kankuro share is your difficulty in expressing emotions. Kankuro also feels things deeply and powerfully but has a hard time expressing and sharing them; however, this often leads to frustration on his part, so it's easy for him to lash out. Plus, he's got a good reservoir of it to react almost too readily to confrontation. That being said, it's less of a problem than one would think; he respects your idea that it's not worth wasting energy on being angry, and that's something that he tries to incorporate into his own mindset. Plus, since he thinks similarly to you, he can understand your thought process very well and can therefore recognize when you're having a hard time with your own emotions. Also, like you, Kankuro is hesitant in being vulnerable; it takes him a good long while to trust someone to that degree. So, again, he relates to you and is all too familiar with how you think, so when you trust him enough to be vulnerable yourself, it's a big deal to him!

Now, there is one instance where Kankuro has no trouble expressing how he feels, and that's in encouraging you! Kankuro may not seem the type to be a hype man, but trust me—this guy is in your corner! He doesn't like you downing yourself or feeling judged; it pains him. You're so amazing to him, and he wants you to see all the wonderful things about you that he does! So, the instant he realizes that you're too in your head, a switch flips in him; he is gassing you up like nobody's business. He's a little awkward at it, not being the best with words and articulating his thoughts and feelings, but it's most definitely earnest and heartfelt!

Finally, I think your love languages align a lot, too! Kankuro's primary love language is 100% quality time. To him, there's nothing better to give someone. Everyone only has so much time in the world, after all, and choosing to share it with someone? That's big to him. Admittedly, he's less the nurturing type compared to you, but he still tries his best to do things for you when he can. It really shows when you've had a long day or a trying time. He'll go out of his way to do everything to make your life easier or so that you can just relax and worry about nothing. And, honestly, he appreciates your nurturing side. He's a busybody who can neglect his own health and well-being by being too caught up in what he's doing, so the fact that you care enough to remind him of the little things warms his heart. Also, Kankuro is totally not a PDA guy either. The most he'll do in public is hold your hand, if you allow that. But behind closed doors, he's much more tender and open in showing his affections. :)

So, the fact that one of your hobbies is collecting crystals caught my eye. I pinned it as something that Kankuro would dig, so here's some headcanons about it!:

Before meeting you, Kankuro didn't really get the whole crystals thing. Like, sure, they're nice to look at, but they certainly don't possess any magical properties or anything. He's a very scientific sorta fella, so don't expect him to change his opinion on that LOL

That being said, he respects that it is an interest of yours, enough to let you ramble about it one day. Again, he thinks the whole thing about spiritual properties is hogwash, but he does get pretty intrigued by how symbolic crystals are.

Cue him going down a research rabbit hole. He never realized just how many kinds of gems and crystals were out there! And on top of that, they have so many meanings; some ubiquitous, and some unique to different cultures! It's fascinating stuff to him, and soon enough, he's actually initiating conversations about crystals.

It's not long before he starts collecting them, too. And when Kankuro does something, he does it with 110% effort; he's not just going to specialty shops and buying them off the shelves. No, this man starts researching ways to go find them out in the wild, LOL If you're enough of a nature buff to accompany him on his little mining trips, he'll be the happiest little crystal enthusiast ever! But be warned. This guy will go full-on spelunking if he thinks he can find a badass crystal or gemstone.

In general, he's not a gift-giver, but he does gift you lots of crystals. :) Especially ones he finds. He even takes the time to look up what properties they might have and waits to give them to you until the relevant situation arises; he doesn't believe they have any real power, but if you do, he's crazy enough about you to put aside his own misgivings for your own happiness. ^u^

Finally, for the last part of your commission match-up, the drabble! I think a lot of your interests align with Kankuro's, one of those being mysteries and true crime. He's definitely got that morbid curiosity in wanting to know how murderers tick, and he loves those unsolved mysteries full of conspiracy theories and intrigue (though, when it comes to supernatural things, he's usually one who insists there's a scientific explanation LOL). Anyway, here's a little blurb based around that!:

"I'm tellin' ya, it's the eldest brother," Kankuro insists with a firm point at the television. The two of you had gotten engrossed in the latest popular true crime anthology. The recurring theme of its presented cases was crime within rich and powerful families; naturally, they swam with intrigue and drama, and in some cases (such as this one), it was difficult to predict just which family member orchestrated whatever criminal act had been committed.

"No way!" you refute with an equally emphatic jab of your finger at the flickering screen. "It's totally the youngest brother! He was going to get less in the inheritance than the eldest brother, so he planned to make himself the sole survivor of an armed robbery gone bad. It was just bad luck that the eldest brother lived."

"Ahhhhhhh, that's just what the eldest brother wants everyone to believe," Kankuro tutted with a professorial wag of his finger. "He's resentful of the youngest brother for outshining him all his life, and their parents for thinkin' he's a screw-up. He totally is, but, when do snotty little rich brats ever blame themselves for their problems? Anyway, he set this whole thing up to get rid of all his problems and pin the whole thing on his youngest brother, the so-called golden child."

"That is way too specific... and compelling," you say while squinting suspiciously at him. "You've watched something about this case before, haven't you?" you accuse with a horrified gasp.

Kankuro immediately throws his hands up in surrender.

"Have not!" he protests. Then, with a self-satisfied snicker, he dives a hand into the bowl of popcorn sitting between the two of you to grab a handful and throw it in his mouth. "I'm just thinking on a whooooooole different level, babe. Looking past all the surface stuff and instead figuring out what really makes these people tick. Pretty soon, they'll be callin' me to hunt these jokers down!" he boasted with a broad grin.

"Are you saying I'm dumb?" you pout, sinking into the couch cushions. You know that he doesn't, but, why miss an opportunity to have him pamper you? And, if you were honest, you would feel pretty dumb if Kankuro's theory turned out to be correct.

"What? No!" Kankuro cries immediately. He pauses the show, then lifts up the popcorn bowl to scooch up next to you and throw his arm around your shoulder, tugging you close. "I—jeez, me and my big mouth," he mumbles under his breath and runs a hand through his hair, stressed at the idea of upsetting you. "It makes you feel a little guilty, so you drop the sulky act. "You know I don't think you're dumb, right?"

You shrug. However, you do feel guilty about how panicked he looks, so you make it obvious that you're playing oblivious, exaggerating the roll of your head and letting the playful smile rise to your lip.

"I dunnooooooo, Kankuro," you drawl, and his eyebrow creeps up his forehead at the purposefully sing-song tone. "You sure made it seem like you think I'm just some surface-level thinker and can't see through a ruse..."

"Aw, come on." Kankuro is the one pouting now, his bottom lip jutting out as he props his chin on your shoulder and bats his eyes at you. "You didn't let me finish." However, the smirk forming on his lips informs you that he is on to your game now, and willing to play along.

"Oh?"

"Yeah," he hums. "If you'd let me keep talking, I woulda gone on to say that I'd tell them that I'll only work for them if I can bring along my gorgeous, totally smart-as-a-tack partner."

"Go on," you encourage with a giggle.

"She notices the things I tend to miss. Like the fact that the eldest brother went back into the house instead of calling the cops."

"I did think that was weird," you nodded in consideration. "But I chalked that up to him not thinking straight and being worried about his little brother when he heard him crying out for help."

"Or maybe he ran in there to try and get his hired thugs to finish the job..."

"But was interrupted by the neighbor, who heard the ruckus!" you gasp in realization and slammed your fist down into your palm. "So he had to think on the fly and act like he was running back in to save his brother so the neighbor didn't get suspicious! That's why the neighbor told the cops during his interview that he felt like the eldest brother was over-acting, and never "

"See?" Kankuro grinned. "You think most people would figure that out just based on a little hint like that? You're definitely not dumb, babe."

"Hehe, we'd make quite a team," you giggle and snuggle into him.

"Damn straight," Kankuro smirked back. He snatches up the remote and resumes the show, then drops it to wrap his arms around you, grinning like a little kid about to run into a candy store. "Now, let's find out which one of us was right!"

You really don't care that much, you find yourself thinking. All you care about is the fact that Kankuro is here, spending time with you, thinking the world of you...

Hello I am stealing @ammstify's format of having a post per character mwahahaha

Miyuki Kawashita is One of the protagonists for my Personal Persona Project (hehehe PPP), Persona: Green (Name is probably sticking lol). She's a 19/20 year old second year uni student, quite tall and slender, a bit too slender, almost to the bone, with short hair (she got that Bi Bob). She’s also straight-up-not-having-a-good-time™️. She’s quick to snap and gets frustrated pretty easily. When faced with adversity she gets angry at it, herself, or life. But normally she’s just kind of ready to get out of wherever place she’s being forced to be, so being forced to tutor some guy (what’s his name? Kou-something?) as part of a Uni scheme is her worst nightmare. Later on, when she’s in the party who all have weird zany personalities, she acts as the straight man in most scenarios, being the most “normal” amongst the dumbasses, but she warms up to their antics. The party members she tends to be closer with (and so form social links with) are those that are chiller (like Kouki and Shin) or those that come to her for help (like Yoshie and Johnny, who won’t stop bothering her /begrudgingly affectionate). Her “style” reflects her personality, she really doesn’t care for what she wears, normally wearing a hoodie and jeans, similar to Tsuneko (a trait that won’t stop Yoshie from pestering them to come on shopping trips. It does lead to her getting a better fashion sense though). Even though she’s not old enough at the start of the story (the age for smoking being 20 in Japan I believe), she does smoke when she gets too stressed, and leverages her height and stress-addled student complexion to try and join strangers for a smoke break, a trait that may get her roped into misadventures of the cognitive variety. But enough about personality >:(

Her Persona is Lancelot, of the Moon arcana, who is a trusted knight and comrade of Arthur, but also one often characterised as a dark knight, as he goes on to betray him. A morally grey type, if you will. He is a knight in dark purple-black jagged (like lightning) armour riding a horse (or at least the head and front legs of a metallic horse thing), wielding a jagged deep blue and black lance (shut up I know Lancelot only really used a sword shut up it fits the name and I don’t want both protags wielding swords stfu) that looks as if it has been flash frozen by dark ice. His element is ice, and has access to a lot of spells that grant buffs to herself at the cost of health. It’s quite a selfish persona in that way, harming to help herself, which will contrast to the character development she gets later on.

Miyuki herself wields a lance (it first manifests when she tries to stab Safie from far away when she provoked her into summoning her weapon lol), and the foliage that lets her summon Lancelot manifests as vines wrapped around her wrists, linked like shackles. Her fighting style focuses on all out offence, her weapon and persona’s long reach not letting enemies get away.

At the start of the story her father has just been convicted for the murder of her mother (dramatic, I know), though her mother was not good to her at all (leading her to almost believe she wished her mother’s death to happen). She’s lost faith in humanity, having only been around horrible people and convinced she’s horrible herself, a belief goaded by a mysterious man on his smoke break outside the courtroom. Being forced to interact and work with the optimist Kouki and the rest of the party slowly leads her to come to see the good in humanity, and that she isn’t inherently evil because of the people who birthed and raised her.

If I had to sum up her relationship with each of the party members (this will make sense once I’ve finished everyone’s profile lmao):

Kouki: the strongest bond on the team, these two almost become platonic soulmates. Kouki’s empathy and similarly intimate relationship with mortality lets him connect with her and see through her walls in a way that not many of the other party members are able to. They both have a similar sense of humour too, which is a bonus lol

Safie: Gets on her nerves, but Miyuki’s trying to get her to warm up to her sister, Agatha, so begrudgingly tries to play diplomat. They probably have the most similar fighting style, so they form this weird bond, almost a professional relationship.

Nenji: He’s kinda lame, so she tends to pick on him a fair amount. She doesn’t mean much ill will, think of how Morgana picks on Ryuji, but as I’m trying to write an actual character (I will take any and every opportunity to bash Morgana), it can go too far, and as Nenji’s quite unconfident he’s not the best at speaking up for himself. Later on into the story their relationship becomes a lot healthier when they set boundaries for their banter and it becomes a lot less one sided.

Shin: As the eldest of the group, Miyuki relates to him more than the others, and she’s definitely thankful for his much chiller personality. They get along like a housefire for this reason, hanging out with Shin is like a break from the others. But she isn’t above teasing him when he’s being clueless too.

Yoshie: Finds her too loud and bright, but as the only other (human) girl on the party when she joins Yoshie looks to Miyuki for her inter-team romantic exploits. She also doesn’t mind having clothes bought for her, so she doesn’t complain (too much) when whisked on shopping sprees. Is a big fan of whenever her inner demon comes out, compared to most of the rest of the party who are a bit terrified.

Tsuneko: Miyuki finds her fatigue detrimental to the team, and gives her a hard time for it, but backs off when she’s a.) just as capable as any other team member, being indispensable as the navi, and b.) is going through her “learning to respect people” phase. Once she has warmed up to her she finds solace in another chill party member, a trait seemingly more rare to find.

Johnny: He, for some inexplicable reason, thinks she’s the coolest most badass woman alive, and won’t stop pestering her to get “coolness” lessons. First advice? Don’t fucking call them coolness lessons. Second piece of advice? PLEASE stop wearing those sunglasses inside. No they don’t add to “the look” please everyone’s looking at you weird oh god NO WHY IS YOSHIE WEARING PINK SHADES ARGGGGH SAFIE DON’T YOU DARE TOUCH THOSE STAR SHAPED GLASSES, WHY ARE WE IN THE GLASSES AISLE (basically the rest of the team join in on Johnny’s antics because it winds up Miyuki, how the tables have turned)

when it comes to shipping I notice with woc it's less common for people to ship them unless they are in an explicitly canon relationship. It's also pushed much harder for them to be single and have fewer close relationships if it looks like canon will he moving towards them having a relationship. After Endgame I saw a few people ready to write Gamora off because she didn't know Peter anymore. I'm not saying anyone has to ship her but it's definitely noticeable how easily some people gave up on her having any potential after vol 3. It's also not escaping my notice that some people, especially on places like Twitter, were quick to want it denied if she would continue to have even the slightest chance of ever being with Peter again or connected to the guardians.

This is why I was/am annoyed with Gunn's real family nonsense. It plays right into people looking for excuses to say Gamora isn't important. He left the movie in a way where possibilities were there for her to be more involved with the guardians and Peter(whether as friends or something more) and then went online to be saying things that don't line up with the movie. Like the Groot interaction. He said himself the audience can understand him because understanding means you're family. There's no way he forgot Gamora could understand at the end. It was a big deal in the movie when she couldn't and the ending created a small arc with her and Groot where she finally could and they both looked happy.

you're def far from the only one who notices that! fandom already tends to kick most female characters in general to the curb in favor of white m/m ships, but at least some white f characters can usually still be part of m/f ships, but then with woc it's just....crickets on all sides lmao 💀 (and moc have it pretty rough too)

ever since that first iw trailer where the gotg ran over thor in space dropped, it feels like some parts of gotg fandom have just become a battle for maintaining gamora's space in the franchise and fan works. it felt like way more white m/m ships ft peter and (insert any white male avenger here) were suddenly popping up—sometimes even straight up IN st*rmora tags lmao—and just a lot of content abt gotg characters in general just stopped featuring gamora as much, compared to characters like peter or rocket. and then us not getting any canon content actually featuring gamora, 2014!version or not, for 4 years, didn't rly help either. (what if barely counts since they cut the episode explaining why she was even in the position to be part of the guardians of the multiverse in the first place 💀💀💀) like, some viewers even misinterpreted the way 2014!gamora just kinda stops appearing on screen in endgame as her like getting snapped with thanos and the black order and co. (which i can't even blame them for, bc she just. does not get shown leaving onscreen? wlknlknsf it was cut, as part of the taking a knee scene) so it's just been a huge mess all around.

the last thing gamora needed was more reasons for ppl to continue leaving her out of the gotg or replacing her in her relationships. like bestie founded the damn team!!!!! if we can bend over backwards in canon to retcon shit or put random male characters in the same spaces how come we couldn't do it for gamora???? it just feels like gamora's been more and more erased on a lot of fronts—fandom, canon, etc—as the years have passed, which is just so frustrating for the first woc lead in the mcu ugh

Bonding moments with the Slashers; the silent love

To explain a little: spending time with slashers and it makes them think to themselves how deeply they love you. Sorry I have been a bit inactive in terms of writing lmao 💓 please enjoy babes

Asa Emory (the collector)

You and Asa were spending the evening together at his house. It was a very stormy evening so you two were sitting by the fire together. His hand tracing soft circles on your back. " I'm just going to get some water if that's okay". Asa nods. You walk up to the sink when you spot a spider had fallen in, struggling to not drown in some of the remaining water sitting in the sink. You in a hurry, put your glass down and carefully scoop the spider in your hands. Asa had gotten up to check if you were okay, when he stumbled on the sight.

Asa stood observing you gently reassure the creature, feeling the need to comfort the sweet spider as it clearly would have been panicking. " You're okay pretty one, you're safe now " you gently coo. You raise your hand closer to your face and softly gaze at the spider. You didn't know much about bugs, but you guessed it may have been a wolf spider. You open the window sill and set it free.

Asa is looking at you so softly. You had no idea that he was even watching you. But he admires how you treat insects with so much tenderness and love- how most would either cower or be disgusted. He saw his love for insects in you. His heart was warm, and full of love. " I love you " he muttered under his breath. You had no idea, you were just peering out the window to see if the spider got back to it's nest safely. You're the most beautiful person to Asa, how you see through his eyes. He'd love you ever so strongly his entire life. To him, you were set apart from everybody else. His special butterfly.

Vincent Sinclair:

Vincent had spent yet another night down in his basement, he had been working on a project. To his surprise you had crept slowly into the room, you were silently hoping to yourself he'd ask you if you'd like him to teach you. Somehow, maybe from some kind of intuitive feeling, he bravely asked.

Vincent had offered you one of his old sweaters to wear, he didn't want any wax getting on your own clothing. " Vincent, I'd like to sculpt you. Sit down for me please" he loved how excited you looked. You looked so beautiful, the way your face gleams with happiness and true curiosity.

Though you had no idea what you were doing and you hadn't sculpt before, it's fair to say you took a genuine shot at it and took your time with it. You put all of your love into every motion of your hands. You knew it probably wouldn't turn out the best, but you certainly wanted to try emulate the way he made you feel every time he created art resembling you.

You wanted to try at his craft, to mould such soft wax the way he did. You had finally finished, and throughout the entire time, he looked so softly at you. Sure, you weren't an expert by any means, but as soon as you show Vincent, his eye swells with tears. He had people apprieciate his art, but he had never seen somebody yearn so deeply to be taught. Especially by him. You were eager and determined, and it was all because of how much you loved Vincent. He held his trembling hands up, held you close and felt his love for you grow a thousand times more.

Bo Sinclair:

It seemed obvious to you that Bo was having a bit of a rough day. Some days his self loathing got pretty bad, you knew he struggled to ask for help for anything. So you had decided to take it upon yourself, and take initiative to help him. Bo had grown tired the past few days, he was constantly frustrated and angry with himself. He was quieter than usual. His truck needed to be fixed and, while he usually was quick to tend to these things, he didn't have the strength to see to it.

Without Bo's knowledge, you would read mechanic books. It was a way for you to feel closer to Bo by taking upon his interests. You decided to walk down to the shop while Bo had been laying on the couch, you assumed he was asleep. You rolled under the car to examine the chassis. You needed to replace oil filter. " What're ya doin' down ther' darl'?" Bo softly asked. " Oh hi baby! I just thought to replace your oil filter. I've just finished" you wiped your hands as you sat up.

" ya' didn't need ta do that for me . I coulda done it". You were worried he might be upset about it, but you did it because you thought it might help him, even just a little. " I just thought you needed.. some rest. I'm sorry". Bo sits next to you, quickly wrapping his arms around you. " Naw naw darl'. I apprieciate it. I'm sorry I hadn't talked to ya much. Just foggy in the head baby. " he kisses your temple, and he cries silently to himself. He loves you so dearly. Even if he struggles to tell you, he always would love you.

Jason Voorhees

Jason had been very downcast lately. Jason had been missing his mother understandably. He knew another anniversary for her was coming up. How he missed her so dearly. Sometimes he still had bad dreams about his dear Pamela. Sometimes you'd instinctively wake up in the night, to Jason awake from a bad dream.

During the morning, you decided you'd visit the site she was buried, you wanted to offer your respects to her and Jason, especially because you knew how much he loved her. " I know we never met, and I know I don't really know you. But I just want to promise you that I will always love and protect Jason. You'd be so proud of him. He's so strong, loving, attentive. I'm so grateful for him, thank you for being his mom." You'd brought her some wildflowers. You really wanted to make the effort for Jason.

When you walked back home to find Jason gone, you knew he had probably gone to visit her and wanted alone time with her. It's okay, you'd wait for him until he was ready to come confide in you. When Jason came home, he had gone to sleep. He felt like he couldn't cope, and you understood that.

You crawled into bed, and fell asleep with him. Sadly enough he had another sad dream about his mother, and he cried to himself. You had woken up. "Jason?". He could only find the strength to mutter " mama ". You wrapped your arms around him as he wept. " I'm sorry baby" you gently whisper. He'd open up to you about it more in the morning, but for now he let himself feel. Jason thought to himself how much he loved you. He realised it was you who awoke early to put flowers by his mother's grave, and how you were laying with him to comfort him. You have eternally won over his pure heart. You are a heaven send.

ok i Will actually get onto the topic of how i think the narrative structure of aini works to show Ryuki’s mental health. but quick foreword i guess lmao this will probably be a bit disorganized because adhd brain go brrr. also i’ll be fair and bring up a way the narrative I think maybe could’ve changed a touch to strengthen this effect in the second half of the game, though hey if we get dlc maybe it wont be an issue-

so, the tl;dr of what I meant with my last post on the topic is essentially this: by playing the game both as Ryuki and Mizuki, we’re seeing both how Ryuki perceives the world around him, and how people perceive him as interacting with the world. and I think that what they do with this is good, both as a means of building tension, but also in terms of showing (especially on a second viewing) how his disability impacts his view of the world.

(also big spoiler warning for endgame characters and plot points.)

so despite this being a Ryuki post i’m actually gonna start with looking at things from Mizuki (Bibi)’s perspective, in specific the scene at the rooftop amusement park after the shooting incident. From Bibi’s side, we get to talk to boss- and while it’s very clear that she’s (rightfully!) angry at him over this, it’s also very clear that boss is concerned for him. When you wink psync with her, it’s pretty obvious that she does want to protect Ryuki as best she can. And while her somnium representation of events isn’t 1:1 with reality, i think it does a better job of showing how she feels. 

Bibi seems pretty worried about Ryuki too- despite the obvious conflict that’s going to come up soon between the two of them, there’s no real indication that before that she ever hated him. She’s concerned whenever he’s dissociating around him, maybe a bit unsettled but doesn’t like him pushing himself too hard.

In comparison, we look at Ryuki’s scene where boss is chewing him out, and see none of that. Boss reads only as angry, and on a first viewing of the game, it feels fairly undeserved. (Yeah, he let the figure from the cathedral get away, but its because they dropped the bridge on him! Is that really his fault?) The consequences and potential demotion feel wildly unbalanced compared to what we as players just saw, and boss reads as almost overreacting angry.

Now, obviously with the context of the full game, you know that she’s angry for pretty understandable reasons. But all of that concern you’ll see on Mizuki’s side doesn’t seem to come through, and even her wink psync somnium in that scene reads as mostly just exhausted and frustrated.

So for how this ties into Ryuki’s mental health and storytelling- in my opinion Ryuki shows very strong signs of RSD, or ‘rejection sensitive dysphoria’. It’s a common symptom in people with ADHD (and it can also be a symptom of other disorders too! I’m just most familiar with ADHD personally), and sparing a big explanation, people with RSD are generally hyper-sensitive to most forms of criticism and rejection. It’s important to note that this doesn’t necessarily even mean actual critique and rejection- even perceived “negative reactions” from people around you can set of RSD episodes when those people are actually perfectly happy with you. As a result people with adhd often tend to either procrastinate a lot or become intense people pleasers (or both), in order to delay potential judgement from peers out of fear of the feelings that comes with.

It’s also important to note that RSD responses usually aren’t just sadness or frustration with yourself- it’s a genuinely catastrophic and often times extremely distressing emotional response that can be very difficult to predict or control. You can see it in Ryuki in that scene- boss says he’s being demoted, and immediately he gets extremely upset and goes as far as to say he’d rather be a bum on the street than a disgraced cop. Tama has to calm him by reminding him its not the end of the world- which is very much how RSD episodes can often feel when you’re dealing with it.

So what I’m getting at here is this pair of scenes actually does an excellent job at demonstrating how Ryuki’s mental health impacts how he perceives the people around him. While with Bibi we see boss being concerned and pulling her weight trying to protect him, with Ryuki it can feel like she’s almost irrationally mad and practically ruining his life. By hiding the actual context of why he’s being reprimanded, it does an excellent job and portraying those feelings of catastrophizing and hurt that come along with episodes like that.

When it comes to Ryuki’s dissociative episodes and memory issues, the game starts off right from the very beginning making sure that the player is fully aware that Ryuki isn’t entirely okay. There’s trivia bits about it, characters will comment on him acting strange and suggest he get checked out at the hospital, and his file from the future section makes it very explicit that he already had problems, but they got worse due to the case. We go into things knowing that Ryuki is Not Okay, which I think is very important to how we experience him as a character.

While playing as Ryuki, we see how he experiences dissociative episodes in first person multiple times. We also get to see Tama’s repeated concern for him because of it, though- she can’t see exactly what he sees and she can’t just read his mind, so he’s alone (with the player) in this. People are often asking him if he’s okay, if he needs help, suggesting he should go see a doctor, but he brushes it off every time. To him, that’s a fair response on the subject. His expression after these moments is usually tired for a bit and then a smile to reassure Tama that he’s fine. 

In comparison, when we see him as Mizuki and as Bibi, it becomes even more clear that he’s really... not. In the second half of the game we get to see Ryuki not how he sees himself, but how people are seeing him, and his issues start to feel a lot more obvious. He’s been denying help for a long time now, and he doesn’t want to stop the investigation for treatment- he literally walks out of the hospital after being told he has a serious memory disorder.

And the comparison between how he views himself and how the Mizukis view him is an intentional one- when they point out him acting strange due to TC-PERGE, he says “is that how I looked?” in response. It’s largely used to build tension and sow some distrust in Ryuki in the second half of the game, to wonder just what the hell is going on with him, but that’s also part of why that scene in the cathedral was very cathartic to me. 

He’s been struggling due to his problems, the narrative has made sure to contrast what it felt like to be him vs how people are seeing him, but his problems do not mean he’s not worthy of compassion from the people around him. Date challenges him directly, reminding him (and the player) of something Ryuki himself said on his route- that no matter how many times he’s hit down, he just needs to keep rising back up. Telling him to climb above the debris is so important- other people can and will help, and they will cheer him on and support him, but he has to remember why he wanted this too. he has to fight for himself as well, and he does. For a character like Ryuki, who we know is very motivated by his past and the people he’s lost, being reminded that he can still have a future by someone he betrayed directly is very important.

(just adding this cap bc this dialogue makes me want to cry)

So honestly, the one thing I really wish we’d gotten out of the narrative after this moment is a scene where you play as Ryuki again. I understand why that didn’t happen from a development POV- it’d likely have made things additionally complicated, and the story very much was moving to be about Mizuki and Bibi’s situation. Which does make sense to me (even though i love Ryuki), Mizuki is the returning character, she’s the one I’d imagine the dev team would expect people to be a lot more attached to.

If anything, I truly wish we’d gotten to see Ryuki and Amame talking after her somnium, because I think those two can function as incredible foils to each other. They’ve been through similar things, and I think Ryuki could absolutely understand her pain. Ryuki says himself that he would kill the criminal who murdered his brother, if given the opportunity- and Amame is someone who was given that opportunity, and she took it. (I may make a separate post abt this sometime too, bc oh boy do i have thoughts about how the narrative could’ve explored these two more. Amame’s somnium on Ryuki’s side is absolutely loaded with painful questions for him. Uchikoshi i am begging you for a dlc-)

But back on topic, I think that having one more scene where you play as Ryuki on the true end route really could’ve further strengthened this effect. Finally getting to see things from his perspective at a point in time where he’s struggled and suffered but explicitly has the support of his friends and coworkers- I think that would’ve been a very good opportunity, and I truly do hope that may be something that could be explored further later. It would’ve put a nice bow on things to get to see his feelings on things from his perspective, knowing that it doesn’t have to be just him and Tama anymore.

Anyways if you read all of this: thank you for reading, don’t feel like you need to take any of this too seriously lol, but I’d be curious to know what other people think on the subject! I really really liked looking at how the game presents both sides of its story, and I think narratives presented out of order like AI:NI was often give potential for extremely fun storytelling. 

The compassion the game ultimately has for Ryuki made me very happy, he suffers and struggles but he continues to fight to move forwards because he is so very human. It all ties back to that core theme of love- to have compassion for himself, and for him to accept the love of the people who want to see him succeed and get better. He has problems, they aren’t going to just go away, but he deserves the support and the friendship of people around him. He can climb above it when he finally accepts that he is not alone.

Oooof, I find Tae to be  the scariest and most aggressive! I don't think he would physically hurt Yn. However, I assume that he wouldn't be above mentally terrorizing Yn to make her stop considering leaving them? I noticed how easily frustrated he gets when YN rejects them and I think that's the scariest side of him.

Out of all of them, he also seems to be the one that Yn won't be able to fool. Yup, I think Tae is  that type of yandere and I'm excited to see more of him 👀

Hoseok 5/5 🚩🚩🚩🚩🚩

Not only Hobi drugged Ynie, apparently, he would also kill anyone for her just to keep her safe?

I assume that Hobi is the type of yandere that doesn't always think things through and tends to take the rashiest decisions under tense circumstances (is this the reason why he ended up drugging her?)

But unlike Tae, Hobi is one of the most delusional in the group and would be tricked by Yn if she manages to convince him that she loves them? I dunno but he's giving me that vibe.

Just like Tae, I'm pretty sure that Jimin won't be easily tricked by Yn's facade 'cause he's an officer and can probably see right through her lies. Unless she really gets on his good side and gain his trust, I highly doubt that she'll be able to fool him.

Yoon is giving me "quiet and obsessive stalker" that is satisfied with just hovering around Yn for the time being.

He knows that she hates them, he's aware and will take things slow with her.

Yoon and Joon are probably the most manipulative ones? I think he would lie to her and change narratives to make the situation seem less terrible than it actually is. Yoon is calmer and more put together than Namu tho.

The way Yoon lied about being an accountant and planned that encounter with her at the park (along with Tae) was what convinced me that he's very manipulative.

I think Namu is the manipulative, delusional AND controlling type of yandere. Very, very controlling to the point of making Yn feel constantly frustrated. The way he said that he would take care of everything until she feels better made me wonder if he'll take her to go see the doctor? 👀

Jin doesn't seem to be as dangerous as the others so far but I could be very, veeeery wrong. He's the delusional type of yandere and the easiest to trick because of that, I guess?

Unlike Jimin and Tae, Jin and Hobi seemed to really believe her "quick acceptance" of the situation and that's why I'm assuming that they're the most delusional out of all of them.

Considering what he said to Yn at the end of the chapter, I assume that Kookie is the most aware that this situation is very messed up. He was ashamed to even look at her 'cause he feels guilty and knows that she's hating them rn.

He's that type of yandere that knows it's all wrong, feels regretful but still goes along with it all cause he desperately wants Yn's love just like the others.

I'm considering JK to be tamest one? But I could be wrong, who knows 👀

In short, I think they're all deranged in different levels but they won't physically hurt Yn.

Taehyung definitely belongs at the top of the list! He isn't the type to be physically abusive, it did make him sad/offended when the MC thought he was going to hit her, but he's not above using scare tactics to fuck with her head (i.e. the blood covered roses). In his head he is doing something romantic, but he also knows that pulling certain stunts will mess with her and hopefully keep her away from other people. Taehyung is harder to fool than many of the others but he's also a tad more delusional than Jimin, so Jimin takes first place when it comes to being suspicious of MC's compliance!

Hoseok is "tamer" than Vmin in some ways, but he's also worse in others. He doesn't like the idea of causing MC any distress, that's why he kept it so simple in his letters and gifts in contrast to vmin. But yes, he's also a lot more impulsive and rash in his actions and that's why he didn't even think twice about drugging her (and potential murder!). He's more of a "it'll work itself out somehow" type of person. I would say he's fairly realistic, like with how he pointed out how the MC hates them in the last chapter, but I think he would be quick to lower his guard and give into his own delusions a bit more once he seems a situation safe. Like with how the MC is now trapped there with them and can't run off. So, he's generally a bit more chill than vmin, but he's also willing to go to lengths a few of the others aren't – like murder.

Yup, Jimin is the toughest nut to crack! I feel like it would a very long time before he would fully believe that the MC actually loved him back. Jimin is by far the most perverted one, lmao! Once we get to the smut it'll be split into pairings/groups so that they all get some alone time with her, but you best believe Jimin would've loved to stay to watch if given the chance lmao 💀

Quiet and obsessive is a very good description of Yoongi! He's knows it'll take time before the MC begins to like them, and he's willing to wait no matter how long it takes. Yoongi doesn't necessarily enjoy lying to her, but he'll do it to de-escalate situations or to make himself look better in her eyes, even if it's only temporarily.

Namjoon is all of the above haha! Joon is the type to bring her to the doctor and then argue until he's allowed to stay for her entire examination, no matter what kind she's having 💀 He wants the MC to be healthy and well taken care of, but he also doesn't trust anyone besides himself to really do it right.

Seokjin is fairly tame! He and Jungkook are probably the "best" type of yanderes you could have. He just wants to spend time with the MC and be around her. The MC would be able to gain his trust pretty quickly!

You summed up Jungkook's character very well there, haha! I think JK might be a tiny bit more intense than SJ just because he's younger, but he is very tame still.
