#so i said “maybe that's my weakness and that's why i liked him” to my friend sitting next to me

Was compelled by these tags but I wanted to put my personal analysis here! Trying to keep it strictly based on the events of the movie and not on pure speculation or external historical stuff, bc I think they do a LOT of interesting things in this short scene and what it implies about the Richard and Philip and Henry (and Louis) relationship dynamics.
I think because this happened right after his back and forth with Henry where Philip felt like he was getting somewhere until Henry did his whole smug ass "Haha I win I squeezed all the information out of you ;D goodnight!" It made him jump out of his more calculated "facts and logic" mode and into a more deeper sense of his burning resentment and inferiority complex, hence the whole "you made my father nothing...and then you made him love you for it" speech. Love is kind of established as a sign of weakness and submission, even if in this case it's not in a romantic context. Louis is a "loving man" who (in the world of TLIW) gets taken advantage of by Pushy men like Henry and Philip is frustrated with that weakness. And so when Henry smugly reveals he was just probing Philip for info, Philip feels like he is "losing" and being demeaned again and so decides to pull out his secret weapon.....His Super Special Scandalous Information jfjdif to throw more fuel on the fire.
Course the main thing is Henry isn't even that scandalized like you said ("Richard finds his way into so many legends, let's hear yours" and in the play after the telling he's just like "I've heard better" lmfao...3 out of 5 stars. Also let's not forget he's also a boydiddler too from his speech to Alais in the opening scene. The royal corkscrew is NOT easily shocked!!). Philip is playing an interesting paradox where he's basically framing Richard as the Older Predatory type taking advantage of him, but also Richard is simultaneously Pathetic and weak at the same time for caring so much about not just sex presumably but wanting to be loved and desired. Philip also casts himself as the Victim in this scenario, as the younger, innocent and un-desiring party, but also positions himself as being the strong-willed clear-headed one where it's like "yes I succumbed ...but NOT because I was too Weak to Resist or out of Fear but because it was my Genius Long Game Plan All Along."
Why does he do this??? I would say like earlier, it was kind of his last card to play in their battle of wills, and allowed him to feel like he had a one-up on Henry after Henry had been smugly putting him down the whole day. I feel the purpose of this is similar to Eleanor's outburst about fucking Henry's father later in the film. Where it really doesn't do anything helpful for her, since he just leaves to do his thing. but in the moment is an emotional weapon that she knows will hurt him. Also there's something fun and cathartic about both Philip and Eleanor's outbursts where after a long day of conniving they really relish in talking about Being Bad in a more straightforward way. For Philip it does end up being helpful in that it sets the ball rolling to reveal all the sonbetrayals in the room and gets the feelings all heightened and sows distrust amongst the family.
Also, to get a bit more speculative, but still basing strictly off what is in the earlier scenes: in the end we don't know the truth of what happened between him and Richard in the forest during the event that he recounted, or what his true feelings are. I personally feel what is implied from his earlier interactions with Richard is that there was a sincere emotional connection, and that they did both miss each other during their time apart. There's implied also a little frustration on Philip's part over Richard not keeping contact and maintaining their friendship after the marriage. But also I sort of interpret it as he wanted to reframe the story in his mind as well, maybe to himself, in a way where he comes out of it feeling like he had control over the situation, especially if their encounters were really as dubiously consensual as he implies it as being. If he did love Richard at some point, that would mean he was the one being "weak" like his father, and so to be strong and be a man and respected ruler ("No man's boy" as he keeps Insisting Very Hard in public the whole movie), he can't afford to indulge in affection the same way. The sexual element just adds another layer that, viewing both from the medieval and 1960s homophobia POV, is already assumed to be deviant and something to distance one's self from. If having the affair with Richard was only A Genius Plan to Sabotage Henry all along, with only Disgust and No Real Feelings of Affection Ever, then he can manage to wiggle out of being implicated or having any responsibility for Sodomybehaviors while pinning all the shame onto Richard (and by extension, Henry.)
So the motivation I can see as being a mix of being mad at the history of Henry overpowering his father and belittling him, being conflicted with Richard for either 1) taking advantage of him back then or 2) having had maybe for real a pleasant affair but getting ghosted 3) most likely a mix of the two. Whatever the case, his main goal was to destabilize Henry and it fit into that goal, so he just poured some extra oil on the fire I guess XD
*in some ways, it's a very 60s homophobia more than a medieval kind, since I feel in early and medieval era there's nothing that would feel off about intense emotional, borderline romantic love between men if expressed in specific socially approved venues. but in modern times even emotional affection is an expression of weakness and timidity, or if a sign of a separate lesser identity being revealed, as how it is portrayed in this movie. The sexual element as deviant is important to the luridity but the part Philip emphasizes as particularly shameful is the vulnerability of asking for love from a man and wanting it returned.
a king like you has policy prepared on everything. well, what’s the official line on sodomy? how stands the crown on boys who do with boys?

⋆˳ . ⋆ — “LIKE IT’S ALL MINE. . . !”
part 1 | part 2
wrd count: 2136
warnings: pure smut, breeding kink if you squint, fem!reader, pet names used, big dick josh!!!!!, p in v sex, 18+ content, hard teasing
a/n: finally a part 2!!! yay!! enjoy babies :3 not proofread, per usual >_<
“you’re already so worked up just from humping my leg?” josh breathed out a laugh, hands grabbing at your hips, firmly enough to leave bruises.
all you could do was grow small in embarrassment under him, causing your hips to slow and eventually come to a halt.
his words made you realize what you were actually doing and reality snapped back at you.
josh had a fat grin on his face and he shook his head in disapproval. “don’t stop now, keep going. maybe i’ll let you cum on my dick if you’re obedient.”
your head was spinning, by now you could hardly make out anything he was saying, mind haunted with disgustingly sexual thoughts.
but he wouldn’t just make a huge mess out of you for fun.
josh liked you.
he liked your face, body, and how bright you were; how much you stood out from everybody else. he found it so attractive and he was ready to pour all of those feelings inside of you.
along with something else.
the exposed skin on your warm back started to melt into the cold plaster of the wall, reminding him that he was still completely clothed.
that had to be out the way. now.
josh met his lips with yours again, mouth wet from how harsh he was sucking on your tits. a dream come true.
while kissing you, nice and slow, he started pulling his layers of clothing off, only breaking the kiss for a moment to take his shirt off.
you broke the kiss entirely though, hands still holding onto him just because if you let go, your weak knees would buck and you’d be a puddle on the floor.
“t-take… take off your pants.” a soft order came from your lips, he couldn’t help the chuckle that left his.
he tilted his head at you, like a confused dog. “why don’t you do it for me? hm, pretty girl?” he whispered to you, the words making you feel things deep in your stomach.
there was no need to ask twice.
you were already on your knees, the warmth of your tights battling against the cold floor.
by the time you could take in a deep breath, he was already teasing you.
“c’mon. i love the view but i have needs too, y’know?” josh said from above you as he ran a hand over the top of your head, giving you a gentle push towards his crotch.
it was evident in his tone now that he was just as needy and ready as you. maybe not as much as you but he was getting there.
your hand reached to unbuckle his belt, being gentle because it felt expensive. the noises of metal clanking and pants hitting the ground filled the room.
silence.
stunned is one word to explain the feeling of the sight in front of you.
joshua washington was big, big and tightly pressed against his navy blue calvin klein boxers, pre-cum leaking through the cloth and it was staring right at you.
this was a sight women die for.
the cold breeze of the room was hitting him because his entire demeanor had changed.
josh was flushed, grabbing at the hair on your head with more vice than before, breathing in staggered patterns.
you tugged at the waistband with delicacy, swallowing dryly as the thick seven inches in front of you bounced slowly.
with a hand, you grabbed at the base while your lips made their way around the pulsing tip.
the new contact wired a low groan out of josh’s mouth, knuckles now wrapping themselves into your hair.
you started off slow.
bobbing your head only enough to take less than a few inches in as your hands twisted and tugged on the parts that weren’t in your mouth.
his mouth was wide open, spurring out words of praise while his hands tried to push your head closer, simultaneously pushing his cock farther into your mouth.
“fuck…holy shit thats good, s’good…” his head fell back and a grin fell on his face at the sounds of you gagging all on him.
tears pricked your eyes like thorns, and taunting you for thinking you could handle something so big.
the quicker you sucked on it, the louder the noises of your choking were. it made your cheeks burn hot in embarrassment.
the closer he was to finishing, the quicker he ripped your head from him.
right when you were in the zone. what an asshole.
“h-huh? wha— what? was it bad?” you asked in pure confusion, eyes big and full of tears as you stared up at him.
josh shook his head, his chest heaving and breath hot. “the complete opposite. i just want to finish while fucking your pussy. not your mouth.”
every time he spoke like that, you were just left with your mouth half-open and brows raised, looking dumb founded.
all he could do was laugh.
he grabbed you from the floor, picking you up with ease and hooking your legs around his hips.
hands on the prize, he palmed your ass to hold you up as he started chewing up your neck, loving the taste and all the mewls you cried out.
he was rock hard. dick twitching and ready to burst just from feeling your bare tits on his skin.
but he had to stay strong, had to maintain himself so he could blow a mean load into your guts and clean up the mess.
like a respectful gentleman.
thought there was nothing gentle about the things he was about to do to you.
before you knew it, your back was slammed against the mattress and your shorts were being stripped off your body, all in one swift movement.
he carefully placed one of your feet on his shoulders, holding it there with his left hand.
the view was something straight out of some cheap porno.
his biceps tightening as he ripped open your tights right where your cunt was, his fingers of his free hand slowly sliding your panties to the side.
you twitched from under him, knees bucking as you felt a thick digit rubbing between your lips, teasing your clit.
a whine left your mouth, noises almost pornographic. so embarrassing how quick he could get you like this just from one finger.
and he wasnt even thrusting it yet.
“so wet ‘n pretty. didn’t even have to wet it before putting it inside.” he tutted, sucking in his bottom lip between his teeth to hold himself back from saying something that was almost disrespectful.
your eyes rolled into your skull, biting down on the tip of your acrylic nail to hold back a dramatic moan that was inching out of you.
“josh, just fuck me already. please”
he wanted it as bad as you did. but he was an asshole about shit so, of course he had to take the high road.
“not just yet, gotta get you ready for me.” his tone was cocky as hell. he knew how big he was and how dramatic you were. so if he tore you up, he wouldn’t hear the end of it.
after a short moment, he sucked in a breath and scoffed. “fuck it.” he muttered almost to himself and quickly after, he grabbed at your hips, flipping you completely onto your stomach.
as if you’d run away, he forcefully pulled your hips up, leaving a sharp slap on the full skin of your ass through the tights.
you still felt every little thing, jumping and flinching at the burning pain; that still felt so fucking good.
once he realized he couldn’t get the full effect, he was ripping that section of the flimsy material too.
all in a few seconds, he was sliding your panties back to the side and grabbing himself, positioning his length right at your entrance.
a dazed chuckle left josh’s mouth and he’s practically drooling at the sight. “shit, baby. if only you could see how good this looks.”
your back was arched, leaving a sexy arc that made him dizzy to look at.
he never imagined actually having you like this. and it made him so eager to fill you up.
with a guttural moan at your tight walls soaking him in, he tried to slowly push in every inch.
which made everything feel ten times better.
he sucked in a sharp breath, biting on his bottom lip and making a writhed up expression at how good it felt.
you on the other hand, let out a harsh gasp when his tip was touching areas you never thought could be reached.
it made your head perk up from being stuffed in the bed, eyes wide and chest heaving.
“g’nna start— f-fuck— moving… now…” he could barely speak, groans interrupting his words as he started bucking his hips forward.
his hands grabbed at the fat on your hips, holding you in place.
your mouth was stuck in an ‘o’ shape, brows furrowed up and eyes shut as you felt every. damn. thing.
noises you didn’t even know you could make were being let out. and he was barely even fucking you the way he wanted to yet…
how embarrassing.
his dick was so good. you had goosebumps on every part of your body and you could hear your juices squelching every time he thrusted into you.
when he started to get used to the tight and wet feeling, a hand reached for the hair that rested over your neck, grabbing up a handful of it.
with this, all he could do was fuck into you harder, skin slapping as he bit on his bottom lip.
his dark green eyes were full of lust due to the way you just consumed every inch so well.
you were loud. telling him you couldn’t take it and babbling out a whole lot of nonsense.
it just felt too good.
“what’s wrong, baby? never had anyone fuck you this good? hm?… yeah i bet no one’s been appreciating this pretty pussy like they should be.” he groaned, looking at your body as if it was a renaissance painting, his free hand grabbing at the plush skin of your ass with every fiber in him.
safe to say the skin was tinted red with his hand print all over it.
the mix of pleasure and pain of being stretched out made you weak.
your brain was absolute mush and you were so cock drunk, his dick replacing the feeling of all the alcohol from earlier.
“j—! oh my— fuck…!” was all you could blabber out. you tried to respond but he was pulling your hair so harshly, causing your back to arch more than you physically could.
meaning he was hitting a whole new spot, with harsher movements and a faster pace. the new feeling made your mind completely black out.
you were left a loud, whiny and moaning mess.
josh had promised himself to not get too caught up in one thing on this trip.
but the alcohol and ways you were talking to him earlier into the night made his dick twitch in his pants for any kind of attention from just you.
the both of you were close.
he could feel your walls tightening around his cock so nicely, making him want to empty all the cum he could hold into you.
“shit— shit, y/n. ‘m gonna cum inside this pussy, yeah? gonna make you all mine, fill you up so nice.” he was spewing half-minded bullshit in between deep breaths, grabbing at your hair and your hip while his thrusts became more aggressive.
you were drooling everywhere, his words made you want to cum right then and there.
the sounds of wet skin slapping and the feeling of his balls slapping against your clit consumed all of your thoughts.
“c— cum..! g’nna cum.. fuck—!” your legs were trembling, voice shaky while you reached for your orgasm by fucking yourself on his dick, rutting your hips; gripping the bed sheets for stability.
could’ve sworn you were seeing stars. your vision started to enhance white sparks and your eyes were open as wide as they could go, a loud moan of his name slipped out of your mouth.
a few more pumps in and he was cumming deep inside of you, holding his dick as deep as it could go.
he finished with a baritone and low groan, biting at his bottom lip as he watched the cum overflow, slipping out of you and down your thighs.
the both of you lied there in sweat and with limp
limbs, one of his hands was still stuck to your ass, holding it as he rested on his back while you were on your stomach.
“you awake?” josh muttered to you in a bit of concern, breaking the silence.
when he heard soft breathing in replace of your voice, he figured that was his answer and got up to find something he could clean you up with.

PROMPTS FROM THE LOVE HYPOTHESIS * assorted dialogue from the book by ali hazelwood, some lines reworked to suit a roleplay format, adjust as necessary
carry yourself with the confidence of a mediocre white man.
i wish you could see yourself the way i see you.
i do reserve the right to comment on your abysmal taste in men.
maybe i am unloveable.
i'll annoy you all the time.
not having a life comes in handy sometimes.
there will only be one bed.
it doesn't matter what it says.
how many times have you done this?
i'd rather buy you anything else.
what you have now, it will have to be enough.
maybe you just pull out the best in me.
i am very happy to pay for however much sushi you want to eat.
to be fair, i don't like people in general.
you probably don't like ice cream anyway.
you just had to go and make me fall for you. you absolute ass.
my favorite color is green, after all.
you don't seem to remember that we first met years ago.
i'm going to kill you if you say another word about the woman i love.
you can fall in love. someone will catch you.
did you just kiss me?
i'll come find you, and i'll take care of you.
expiration dates are for the weak.
i like no one, absolutely no one, but i liked you from the start.
is there anything i can do for you?
is there something you need? name it?
if i have it, it's yours.
what does it really say?
this might be inappropriate but... you are extraordinary.
you've clearly never seen a rom-com or read a romance novel in your life.
i know it's scary, being vulnerable, but you can allow yourself to care.
what do i always tell you?
[name], are you okay?
you mean you've done this before?
i asked if i could kiss you, and you said yes.
i'm pretty sure i heard you say yes.
i'm so glad i finally scrounged up the courage to ask you out.
he was a prick.
how did you convince him?
we could never do that.
people who date, they... talk. a lot. more than just greetings in the hallway.
a good kiss will do that. it makes a girl forget herself for a while.
my heart may be broken, but my brain is doing just fine.
sounds like fun, no?
i am going to take care of this.
i've never been surer of anything.
that is going to have to be enough.
i think that somewhere along the way i forgot that i was something.
this is my life now.
maybe one day you'll even let me tell you.
don't tell them anything until we get you a lawyer.
what kind of question was that?
yes, i'm an insensitive ass.
it's hard to stick around without a good reason to do so.
i have a question. a specific research question.
i don't trust anyone else to do it.
we should go get our flu shots.
it will be fine, [name]. and it not, at least it will be over.
a heart will break even more easily than the weakest of hydrogen bonds.
i have access to your google calendar.
if you don't want to hang out with me, you can just be honest.
pay attention, sweetheart.
why do you keep saying that?

SAY IT WAS JUST A DREMA PLEASEE
"You cheated on me"
Them if you told them that you had a dream that they cheated on you. Ft. Andrew Marston, Kayson Mayer, Isaac Rhoades, Xanthus Claiborne, and Elias (I've been also thinking about making this after I dreamt of Kayson cheating on me with my clone and having a baby with them. Told oomfie @xzhdjsj and they said that they had the same dream but it's Xanthus and Dontis. So I decided to make one for all of them. Thank you for this request!)
Andrew Marston
Waking up after that dream felt heartwrenching, as if it opened a pandora box filled with your fears and insecurities. Rolling over and not seeing Andrew on your side did not help the situation. You sat up with a sigh, the dream— nightmare replayed in your mind.
"Good morning," Andrew greeted you with a soft smile as he continued to prepare breakfast.
You gave him a weak smile as you sat down, which concerned him. "Is everything okay, darling?" He tilted his head, placing the breakfast on the table before sitting beside you.
"I had a dream where you cheated on me," You sighed, defeat evident in your voice.
"Oh, darling, no. I would never do that," He held your hand, kissing the back of it– a gesture that you always found endearing. "I have fought for you— for us. Abandoning you for someone that I would never love as much as you is not just foolish, but also beyond ridiculous. You have my heart, my body, and my soul. And you will always have it."
"It's just… it felt so real. The thought of it feels so scary," You ran your fingers through your hair, feeling the hurt that the dream made you feel once more.
Andrew nodded in understanding, "I understand that. I believe that I'd be upset too if I dreamt of that in a way. But I assure you that this heart only belongs exclusively to you. Reality is different from dreams."
The knife that seems to be lodged in your heart seems to be pulled out. You gave him a smile, feeling foolish for doubting a man who wants your best interest at heart. "Thank you, Andrew," You intertwined your fingers with his, thumb caressing the back of his hand.
"I love you and only you. Always remember that." He spoke, sealing his promise with a soft loving kiss.
Kayson Mayer
"What?! Why would I do that?" Kayson gasped as the words left your mouth.
"You did!"
For a second he looked horrified at the actions that he did not commit, his mouth slightly agape and his brows furrowed. He turned to you, "I-Is it because of my work? You know that I'm only doing it for the tips, right?"
"I know that, Kayson. It doesn't have to reflect what you did in reality."
Kayson almost frowned at your statement, "Then why?"
"I don't know… maybe it's me? I need to do some introspection, though I feel like I know the reason why," You gave him a smile that did not reach your eyes, regretting that you opened this conversation with your clueless— almost innocent boyfriend.
He nodded in understanding before speaking once again, "If it helps, I don't see myself loving someone else. The prospect of spending the rest of my life with you is something that I am looking forward to. Not with others. Just you and you only. You're my first and my last. Understood?"
You gave him a small nod, smiling at his assurance, "Understood."
Kayson let out a sigh of relief, "Good, because I don't want you to think that I'm not loyal or something.
Isaac Rhoades
"Would you cheat on me?" You asked, breaking the afternoon silence.
Isaac's brow furrowed at the sudden question, "Did I do something?"
"No– uh, not particularly. No," You rambled, not knowing how to start this conversation with this topic to your rational and logical lover. Somehow, you're sure that if you said that he betrayed you in your dream he'd laugh at the concept. But since you started it, there's no going back.
"What happened?"
You bit your lips, thinking of a way to phrase the situation without sounding ridiculous. "W-Well, I had a dream where you cheated on me. Look, I know it's ridiculous and so silly. But it's bothering me so—"
He stood up, cupping your cheeks, "I guess we reached that point of our relationship," Isaac chuckled softly. "To answer that question: no, I will not cheat on you. Never."
You looked at him once more, tracing the sincerity of his statement, "Really? You promise?"
"Yes, really. I promise," Isaac smiled, kissing your forehead before holding you in his arms, "You're my only one. I will never break your trust or betray you in any way."
"I love you, Isaac."
"And I love you too."
Xanthus Claiborne
"You seem mad. What happened?" He closed the book as you walked in the room.
You huffed, sitting across him, "Well, good morning to you too."
"Please, enough with games. Have you forgotten that I can feel what you feel? You can't hide that much from me," he spoke with a hint of smugness in his tone. So irritating.
You rolled your eyes. "Nothing. It's stupid." You muttered, not wanting to give him an opportunity to laugh at you or find you ridiculous. His views towards humans are already demeaning enough and you don't want to fuel it.
"I won't laugh," He spoke, urging you to let your thoughts out.
"It's stupid."
"But it's bothering you."
"Yeah, cause you're bothering me."
"Come on, love."
"Fine, you cheated on me in my dream!"
Xanthus blinked out of shock at your admission. You can feel his confusion and you know that he can feel your embarrassment. He let out an abrupt chuckle, "What?"
"Yeah, whatever. Laugh," You scoffed, turning your back from him.
"I'm not laughing at you, I'm laughing at the context," despite his explanation, you refused to look at him. "To clarify, I will not do that especially with what we have. I want to spend the rest our lives together happy. Betraying you, especially when you are my heart, is beyond absurd."
He pats the space beside him, "Now come here." With a huff, you obeyed, flopping on the couch and still avoiding his gaze.
He cupped your cheek, making sure that you're staring at him. "Our time, though limited, is too precious to me to tarnish with doing such thing. So, no, I will not cheat on you. That dream of you is false and you should always remember that I love you and only you."
Elias
"You cheated on me."
Elias looked at you, laughing at the statement. But his laugh faded as your face remained unchanging, realizing how serious you were. He paused his game, "Are you for real?"
You nodded, "I am for real."
"What? Where did you get that?!"
"In my dreams."
He looked at you with a deadpan expression, in disbelief how you believed your dreams over him. "Seriously?"
"Yes, seriously."
Elias ran rubbed his face with his hand, "Babe, there's no way that you believe that." He turned to you with a huff, "You know that I am monitored, right?"
"That's your response?!"
"W-Well, I'm only saying! Like, you have proof that I don't sneak or hide something. It's not worth the risk," He babbled, which got a glare from you.
"Not only that, losing you is beyond stupid for me. I don't want to fumble someone like you, especially after what we've been through," Elias spoke with a quiet tone, hiding the fact that he's now vulnerable and bare.
You chuckled, sitting on his lap and wrapping your arms around him, "You promise?"
Elias blushed at your gesture, "I promise."
With a soft chuckle, you leaned towards him, kissing him softly as he wrapped his arms around you.

Hi everyone! ❤️ It's been a week™ after those spoilers. I'm going to ramble a bit about that under the cut in relation to this chapter. It'll be mostly writer problems, but well. Anyway, for now, in this sneak peek, Edwin and Thomas meet again unexpectedly.
Edwin made his way through the crowd, vibrating with the receding sensation of Charles’ hands on his face, his forehead against his. The music sounded muffled to his ears, and the creatures crowding every space of the place made him feel trapped, increasing his need to escape. In the end, Edwin found his way to the terrace, which was miraculously empty, aside from a few creatures lounging on the sofas over a secluded corner. The music was softer there, and Edwin couldn’t really feel the chill air of the night, but he breathed out as if he could, relaxing somewhat. He approached the railing made of glass panes, his eyes catching briefly on the red and pink orbs spelt to hover all over the terrace, creating a strangely comforting atmosphere. Edwin noticed someone else reclined on the railing, far away from the door to the terrace and the sofas. It shouldn’t have been possible, but Edwin immediately recognized that blond hair slicked back, the line of his shoulders. Approaching slowly, something churning in his stomach, Edwin felt curiously comforted to see him. “Thomas?” Edwin muttered. Thomas turned around immediately, eyes widening slightly, but quickly shifted into a smile. “Oh, this is a surprise,” Thomas purred, fully turning towards him. “What are you doing here, darling? On a case, I’m sure.” Edwin sighed, closing the last bit of distance and standing beside him, holding onto the railing. Thomas's smile only widened. “Actually, I am not here for work,” Edwin explained, averting his eyes and fixing them on the street below. “We have come the four of us for— A leisure night.” “Well, you don’t look much entertained,” Thomas drawled, and Edwin could feel his eyes tracing his profile, making a soft tingling crawl under his skin. “I just needed a bit of calm,” his words sounded weak to even himself, the truth trapped right there, under his tongue. “I thought you would be in Port Townsend already.” “Said I would drop by to say goodbye, didn’t I?” Thomas said, and Edwin turned his head, regretting it immediately and finding how close they were standing suddenly. The intensity of their gazes became almost unbearable. Warmth bloomed underneath his skin, and the brief space felt like electricity.
“Why are you here?” Edwin forced his gaze away, that feeling of breathlessness coming back to him unexpectedly. “Well, I heard about the place and had to check if it was any good,” Thomas shrugged softly, looking away, too. “Been to better clubs, but it’s distracting enough.” “That is what you were searching for? A distraction?” Edwin turned to him intentively, frowning slightly. Thomas faced him, peeking at him with enclosed interest. “Just trying to get my mind off some things. And here you are, anyway.” Edwin almost rolled his eyes, but even so, something had to show up in his face anyway since it made Thomas chuckle softly. Silence stretched between them for a few seconds. Edwin took the chance to breathe and attempt to ease his thoughts. Not succeeding much, if he were to be honest. “You have that look in your eyes again,” Thomas eventually broke the silence, his voice soft, calm. “What look?” “Like you’re drowning.” Something cracked in his chest. His heart, probably. It came back with renewed force, the sensation of his spiralling thoughts back on the dance floor as Charles smiled at him brightly, pulled him so close, touching him so tenderly— How close it was, and how far at the same time, to what he desired. The certainty that it’d never go further than that had slapped him harder than ever before. “Trouble in paradise, maybe?” Thomas asked. “No,” Edwin sighed, resisting the need to look away. “I suspect— You were right. I am making things harder for myself, for the most part.” “Well, your bodyguard is not precisely making it easier,” Thomas scoffed. Edwin frowned at him, parting his lips as to retort. However, he couldn’t. What was going on wasn’t really Thomas’ business; even so, Edwin couldn’t deny it either, not entirely. Instead, he tried to steer the conversation away from that topic. “The masquerade was almost three weeks ago. What could possibly keep you so long here?” Edwin asked, though already knowing the answer deep down. “Ouch. So eager to get rid of me,” Thomas said dramatically, but without a bite. “I did not mean it that way.” Thomas only kept looking at him, his smile turning softer and weaker in a way that made Edwin feel warm all over. His eyes dropped to his mouth not very subtly, but he forced himself to lock his gaze with Edwin’s sparkling golden under the colourful lights. In turn, Edwin found himself down just the same. “That,” Thomas whispered, the huskiness in his voice making Edwin shiver. “Exactly, that is keeping me here.” “What do you mean?” Edwin's voice came out choked, his mind whirling. The lingering despair of that dance was still there, crashing with the strange relief of Thomas’ eyes on his. “Hope,” Thomas answered simply. “I might get a miracle, after all.”

Okay, here goes a bit of rambling.
I have to admit, right now, I am feeling a bit anxious about this chapter. I mostly keep away from any discourse because I just want to chill, enjoy being in the fandom, and share my writing/scream about other people's art. However, it's been a coincidence I'm writing this chapter the week those spoilers have been going around. I'm trying not to worry too much about the discourse going on, but I can't help it, in a way. This fic is very important to me, and I'm putting a lot of hours into it. I can't help but worry if I'm doing it right or not, sometimes. And I'm fine with it not being to everyone's liking; that's completely natural.
I'm mostly concerned about not having explained/hinted some things right. I've had this chapter plotted since September when I started writing this story. If you have been reading it, you know how the interactions between Edwin and Thomas have been portrayed. And I was already hesitating if this made any sense at all or not, but I tried to write it as best as I could since I decided to take a certain route for this fic (that's all I can say without spoiling the chapter). I know I might be overthinking this too much, and, in the end, I'm having a lot of fun writing/sharing this; also, there are a lot of us working on our versions of Season 2, and I think it's amazing and enriching for the fandom to have different versions to enjoy. So I can only expect all of you who are reading it to keep enjoying the story.
I was very unsure about even talking about this, but I also believe that it's okay to express the ways in which you struggle sometimes. We all here are persons behind these screens, and I think sometimes we forget that. Anyway, I don't want this to get excessively long, so I hope you are taking care of yourselves. Thank you all over again for your support, comments, and reblogs.❤️ It's giving me life, I swear.

I care about you
Dazai x Reader
Pt 1
Warnings: Depression, self harm, mentions of suicide attempts, mental illness.
The restaurant was quiet, save for the occasional clinking of plates and murmurs of other diners. Candlelight flickered softly, casting a warm glow over the table. Across from you, Dazai sat back in his chair, his arm lazily draped over the backrest, a mischievous grin tugging at the corners of his mouth.
“You know,” he started, swirling the wine in his glass, “if this steak were my last meal, I think I’d die happy.”
You set your fork down, a sense of unease already creeping in. “Dazai…”
He didn’t seem to notice the warning in your voice, his eyes gleaming with something darker. “But,” he continued, his voice calm, “if I were to go, I’d want it to be something more dramatic. Something… poetic. Maybe a leap into a river. Or from a high-rise at sunset. You know, something that would leave an impression.”
You couldn’t keep the tension from building in your chest. “Dazai, I really don’t like it when you talk like that.”
He paused for a moment, the grin still playing on his lips. “Oh? Why not?” he said, tilting his head, seemingly unfazed. “It’s the truth. I’ve tried a few things, you know.”
Your fingers tightened around your napkin, and you felt a cold chill run through you. “What do you mean ‘tried a few things’?”
Dazai leaned forward, his gaze sharp as he looked directly at you. “Well, let me think... I’ve tried hanging myself, drowning myself—Yokohama Harbor, to be exact. It was freezing, but strangely peaceful. I really thought it would work that time. But no, a fisherman pulled me out before I could go under for good.” He chuckled softly, but it didn’t reach his eyes. “Pathetic, huh?”
You felt your heart drop, but he kept going, unperturbed. “I also tried jumping in front of a train once. The timing was all wrong, though. I only got clipped, nothing serious. And then there was the time I tried poisoning myself, but the drink was too weak. Didn’t do the job. But you know, the one that came closest? Cutting my wrists. I really thought that one would do it. I got pretty close, but again, I ended up surviving.”
Each attempt, each method, he listed it so casually, as if they were simple anecdotes, nothing more than stories to amuse himself. The weight of his words pressed down on you, suffocating, until you couldn’t breathe. You felt a mix of disgust and helplessness, your stomach twisting in knots. This wasn’t just dark humor; this was the product of something deeper, something broken. And it was eating at him.
“Dazai,” you managed to choke out, your voice barely above a whisper. “Please, stop. I don’t want to hear this. This isn’t funny.”
He raised an eyebrow, as if surprised by your reaction. “Why not?” he asked, genuinely curious. “It’s just a little dark humor. Surely you, of all people, aren’t disturbed by some harmless stories?”
“Harmless?” You stood up abruptly, unable to sit through it any longer. “It’s cruel. It’s wrong. I don’t know why you think this is okay, but it’s not. I care about you, Dazai, and hearing you talk like this…” You took a deep breath, trying to steady your nerves. “It makes me feel awful. Can you not see that?”
He looked at you for a long moment, his smile never wavering, though his eyes were colder than usual. “Cruel?” he repeated, amusement still in his tone. “You’re being dramatic. It’s not as though anyone would care if I actually died, anyway. Hell, the world would probably be better off without me. It’s not like I have anyone who would mourn me.”
You shook your head, a knot forming in your throat. This wasn’t just about his words anymore; it was about the way he saw himself. The way he thought of his life as something so expendable.
"And you know," he added, almost as an afterthought, "I’ve been thinking about finding a beautiful woman to share my final moments with. Someone who wouldn’t mind a little poetic death. I’ve been looking for someone who’d be willing to… you know, commit double suicide with me. My dear friend, you’d do perfectly." His grin was wider now, predatory, and it made your skin crawl.
You stared at him, unable to process how casually he could say something so horrifying. “Why would you say that to me? Why would you ask me something like that?”
He laughed, but it was an empty, hollow sound. “Why? Because you’re one of the few people I actually respect. I thought you’d find the idea appealing. You’re beautiful, aren’t you? You would make a perfect match for me in the end.”
Your hands shook at your sides, but you didn’t back down. “No, Dazai. No. I don’t find any of this funny. You’ve made me so uncomfortable tonight, and you did it on purpose, didn’t you? You wanted to make me feel bad. Well, congratulations, you’ve succeeded.”
He blinked at you, for the first time showing a crack in his indifference, his smirk faltering for a split second as he processed your words. But before he could respond, you turned and grabbed your coat, slipping it over your shoulders.
“I’m leaving,” you said, your voice firm but quiet.
Dazai didn’t say anything. He just watched as you moved toward the door, his gaze unreadable. The air between you had shifted, and you couldn’t quite understand it, but you knew one thing for certain: You couldn’t sit there and let him pull you into his darkness.
With one last glance at him, you stepped out into the cold night air, the weight of the conversation lingering with you, but you didn’t turn back.
The days following that tense dinner were markedly different. You kept your interactions with Dazai strictly professional, your usual casual conversations replaced with curt, pointed words. Whenever a task required communication, you went through others—Kunikida, Atsushi, anyone else who could serve as a buffer between you and him. Dazai, however, wasn’t one to let things go unnoticed, especially when they disrupted his carefully cultivated routines.
You knew he’d noticed the shift—he wasn’t an idiot. But instead of apologizing or addressing it directly, he chose his usual route: mischief.
It started small. A sly remark here, an exaggerated sigh there. When you ignored those, he ramped it up. During one meeting, he’d kept dropping pens onto your side of the table, leaning over to retrieve them with the kind of smug grin that made you want to throttle him. When you didn’t react, his antics escalated.
The breaking point came one quiet afternoon when you returned to your desk only to find his desk… wasn’t where it was supposed to be.
He’d moved it.
Right in front of yours, so close the two desks were now touching, effectively making it one long, cluttered mess of books, papers, and his personal junk. Your side was spotless, as always, but his was overflowing—documents spilling over onto your workspace, a half-eaten bag of snacks perched precariously on the edge, and his coat draped lazily over your chair.
You stood there for a moment, staring at the absurdity before you, willing yourself to stay calm.
“Do you mind?” you finally asked, your voice cold as you folded your arms.
Dazai, leaning back in his chair with a lopsided grin, didn’t miss a beat. “Not at all. Cozy, isn’t it?”
“It’s not cozy,” you snapped, narrowing your eyes. “It’s invasive. Move your desk back.”
“But I like it here,” he replied, spinning his pen between his fingers. “Better lighting. Better company. Well... not bettercompany, but you’re here, so it’ll do.”
You clenched your jaw, refusing to rise to the bait. Instead, you sat down, pushed his papers to the far edge of your desk, and went back to your work.
This didn’t deter him in the slightest. Over the next hour, he kept finding ways to encroach on your space—tossing paperclips onto your side, humming loudly, even nudging your coffee mug with his own until it was teetering dangerously close to the edge.
Finally, when it seemed like he might actually topple it over, you shot him a glare. “If you spill that, I swear—”
“You’ll what?” he interrupted, leaning in closer. “Yell at me? Ignore me some more? I think you’ve got the ignoring part down pretty well already.”
You didn’t respond, turning back to your work with tight-lipped determination.
His frustration, though, was becoming harder for him to hide. You could see it in the way he kept drumming his fingers on the desk, in the exaggerated way he sighed every five minutes, in the way his usual lazy demeanor seemed a little too deliberate, like he was trying too hard to act like this wasn’t bothering him.
And then, he started writing notes.
At first, he didn’t even try to be subtle about it. He scribbled something down on a piece of paper, folded it neatly, and slid it onto your side of the desk.
You ignored it.
A second note followed, then a third. You didn’t open any of them, and the more you ignored them, the more frustrated he seemed to become.
By the fourth note, he didn’t even bother folding it anymore. Instead, he scrawled the words in large, dramatic letters across a sheet of paper and held it up directly in your line of sight.
“ARE YOU STILL MAD?”
You didn’t look at him, but he kept the note there until you finally sighed and muttered, “Yes.”
He blinked, clearly not expecting an actual answer. Then, with a grin, he grabbed another sheet of paper and scribbled again. This time, he slid it across the desk to you.
“WHY?”
You stared at the note for a moment before crumpling it up and tossing it back at him. “You know why,” you said, your voice quiet but firm.
For once, he didn’t have a quick retort. Instead, he leaned back in his chair, his grin faltering ever so slightly as he watched you go back to your work.
But, true to form, he didn’t stay quiet for long. Moments later, another note landed on your desk.
“CAN I MAKE IT UP TO YOU?”
You didn’t respond. You didn’t trust yourself to, not yet. And so, the silence between you stretched on, heavy and unresolved, while Dazai sat across from you, bored, frustrated, and—if the look in his eyes was any indication—just a little bit lost.
The silence between you two stretched unbearably as Dazai fidgeted with his pen, occasionally glancing at you, though you didn’t spare him a single look. Despite his antics, you were determined to hold your ground. He deserved to stew in this. To feel the weight of your anger and hurt.
Yet, as the minutes ticked by and the tension grew thicker, you found yourself caving. Not entirely, but enough for curiosity to override your stubbornness. With a sigh, you picked up your pen and scribbled something on a piece of paper, sliding it over to him without looking up.
“Did you mean it?”
Dazai, for once, didn’t respond immediately. You heard the faint rustle of the note as he picked it up, followed by a pause. Then, slowly, he scrawled something down and pushed it back toward you.
“Mean what?”
You stared at the words for a moment before writing again.
“That you want me to die with you?”
When you slid the note back, you refused to meet his gaze, your fingers gripping your pen tightly as you waited for his response. The air between you felt suffocating, heavy with the unspoken weight of the question.
It took him longer this time. You heard the soft scratching of his pen as he wrote, then paused, then wrote again. Finally, the note landed back in front of you.
“Yes.”
Your breath hitched as you stared at the single word, simple and honest in a way Dazai rarely allowed himself to be. When you finally looked up at him, his expression was unreadable, his usual playful grin replaced by something quieter, something that almost looked like vulnerability.
“I wasn’t joking,” he said softly, breaking the silence. “Not entirely, at least.”
Your throat felt dry, and you weren’t sure what to say. For all the times Dazai hid behind humor, behind his endless games and tricks, hearing him admit something so dark, so raw, left you momentarily at a loss.
“Why?” you finally asked, your voice barely above a whisper.
He shrugged, though the motion felt forced, his usual air of nonchalance cracking at the edges. “Because if I had to go, at least with you… it wouldn’t feel so empty. It’d be poetic, don’t you think? Two kindred spirits, disappearing together.”
“That’s not poetic, Dazai,” you said firmly, anger creeping into your voice. “It’s selfish. It’s—” You stopped yourself, exhaling sharply. “It’s cruel that you would suggest that.”
His lips quirked up in a half-smile, but there was no humor behind it. “I told you, I’m a selfish man. You should know that by now.”
Your eyes narrowed, but you didn’t reply. Instead, you leaned back in your chair, the note still clutched tightly in your hand, as the weight of his words settled over you.
“I’m sorry to disappoint you, Dazai,” you began, folding the note neatly and placing it in front of him, “but unfortunately, I do not want to die. And I’d prefer it if you could refrain from doing so either.”
You stood up, your chair scraping against the floor as you grabbed your bag. “I need to use the restroom. I’ll be back in a minute.”
But before you could take a step, his hand shot out, quick and instinctive, his bandaged wrist wrapping firmly around yours. It wasn’t harsh or forceful, but it was enough to stop you in your tracks.
“What the hell?” you blurted, glancing down at his hand, then back at him.
For the first time since the conversation began, he looked genuinely caught off guard. His grip on your wrist wasn’t calculated; it was almost desperate, as though the very thought of you leaving—even temporarily—was unbearable.
“I… You’re not going anywhere,” he said, his tone lighter than his expression betrayed. But the crack in his voice, subtle as it was, didn’t escape you.
Your brow furrowed. “Dazai, I work here. I’m just going to the bathroom. I’m not running off into the sunset. Good god, you have issues.”
His lips curved into a faint smirk, but it lacked his usual humor. “Issues? That’s putting it lightly, don’t you think?” He released your wrist, his hand lingering in the air for a moment before he let it drop back to his side. “I guess I just don’t like the idea of you walking away from me… even if it’s just to the restroom.”
“Dazai,” you sighed, softening your tone despite yourself, “I’m not leaving you. I’ll be back in two minutes.”
His eyes flicked up to meet yours, a flicker of something vulnerable passing through them before his usual mask slipped back into place. “Promise?” he asked, leaning back in his chair with a grin that didn’t quite reach his eyes.
You gave him a flat look. “I’m not promising anything. It’s a bathroom break, not a grand betrayal.”
But as you walked away, you couldn’t shake the weight of his touch—or the way his voice had faltered, even for just a second. Something about it lingered, clawing at the edges of your mind like an unanswered question you weren’t sure you were ready to ask.
A few hours later ~
The office was quiet now, save for the faint ticking of the clock on the wall and the rustling of papers as you gathered your things. The sun had long since dipped below the horizon, leaving the room bathed in the soft glow of a single desk lamp. You glanced over at him. His desk—still obnoxiously pressed against yours—was cluttered with papers he hadn’t touched all day. He’d sat there for hours, throwing the occasional quip your way, but you hadn’t said much in return.
It wasn’t just the silence that made the air feel heavy; it was the weight of his words from earlier. He wanted you to die with him. The thought lingered, intrusive and stubborn, no matter how much you tried to shove it aside. You couldn’t understand how he’d asked you something so selfishly, so casually, as if it were just another joke in his endless repertoire.
Shaking your head, you slid your bag over your shoulder and moved toward the door. You didn’t bother to say goodbye.
“Wait,” his voice called out, stopping you mid-step. You turned to find him standing now, hands stuffed into his pockets as he leaned against the edge of the desk.
“What is it, Dazai?” you asked, your voice tinged with exhaustion.
“Let me walk you home,” he said, straightening up and taking a step closer.
You blinked at him, the question catching you off guard. “Are you going to say some weird shit?”
His mouth quirked into a half-smile, though it lacked the usual cockiness. “You know, probably. I mean, it’s me.” He paused, rubbing the back of his neck as if he were suddenly unsure of himself. “But… I won’t ask you to, you know, do that with me again. Scout’s honor.” He held up two fingers in mock sincerity.
You narrowed your eyes, considering him for a moment. “Fine,” you said finally, letting out a small sigh. “But only if you promise.”
“Promise,” he repeated, a flicker of amusement returning to his voice.
As you pushed open the door and stepped into the cool night air, he fell into step beside you. Something about the way he kept just a half step behind, letting you set the pace, felt quieter than usual—almost careful. It wasn’t like him. Then again, nothing about today had been.
The street was quiet as you and Dazai walked down the path, the only sounds being the soft crunch of your footsteps against the pavement and the occasional rustling of leaves in the trees. The streetlamps above flickered on, casting a dim, golden light that illuminated the sidewalk in a soft, almost melancholic glow. The night air was cool, a refreshing change from the stuffy office, and you relished the brief quiet that came with the walk.
You didn't mind walking. You’d never been one to rely on a car, especially when the journey gave you a little peace of mind. Besides, the apartment was only about a 20-minute walk away, and you had plenty of time to clear your head. Or at least, that’s what you told yourself.
As you walked in silence, your thoughts wandered. You couldn’t shake the feeling that something had shifted between you and Dazai today. His words from earlier still echoed in your mind, but it wasn’t just that. Something about his behavior had felt off—a bit too distant, a bit too… real.
It was strange, but despite everything, you couldn't deny you had feelings for him. Not that you really had a choice, considering how often you saw each other. But you were realistic about it. The idea of him ever feeling the same was almost laughable. He was too much of a mess, too much of a broken puzzle for you to figure out. And even if he did have feelings for you, you weren’t sure it was something you could trust.
The walk continued in silence, and you pulled your coat tighter around you, keeping your thoughts to yourself. But then, without warning, Dazai held out his arm for you.
At first, you were confused. You didn't know what he meant by the gesture. But when he huffed, his voice edged with a hint of impatience, “Come on, I’m not going to bite you,” you could feel a wave of hesitation wash over you.
Before you could respond, he looped his arm through yours, locking it there with a firm but gentle grip. It surprised you, but it wasn’t unwelcome. For a moment, you just walked, trying to process what had just happened.
As you did, your gaze slipped over to him. The soft glow of the streetlights caught his brown hair, highlighting the faint tousled mess of it. You’d always admired the way it looked, even when he didn’t seem to care much about it. You wondered, though, how much of his body was covered in bandages. His neck and wrist were always covered, but what about the rest of him? Did he hide it under those clothes, or was there more to it?
The thought made a knot form in your stomach, and you quickly shoved it away. You hated the idea of him harming himself. The thought made your chest tighten, and you didn’t want to think about it—not now, not here, not with him.
“What are you thinking about, Y/N?” Dazai’s voice broke the silence, his tone casual, though there was an edge to it.
You looked up at him, startled, but there was a strange softness in his expression that made you pause.
“Nothing,” you muttered, not wanting to admit to the tangled thoughts swirling in your head. “Just... you know, thinking about work.”
He raised an eyebrow, unconvinced. "Really?" he teased, but there was something more guarded in his eyes now. "Because you seem distracted."
You went quiet, your eyes shifting away from his, not wanting to meet his gaze anymore. The cool night air suddenly felt too heavy as the silence between you both stretched on.
Dazai noticed immediately, his pace slowing as he watched the subtle tension build. He didn’t push it at first, but after a few moments, he muttered, almost absentmindedly, “I hate how you don’t let me into your head.” His voice had a quiet frustration in it, like a gnawing irritation that wouldn't let go.
You stiffened, the words from earlier still replaying in your mind. You knew he wasn’t going to drop it, not without pushing the issue. You didn’t want to discuss it, but you couldn’t stay silent either. "Well, it’s kinda difficult to let someone in who has basically said in their own way they want me dead." You kept your voice steady, trying not to let the vulnerability slip through.
The words hung in the air, and Dazai didn’t immediately respond. His arm, still locked with yours, shifted slightly as if he were considering his words carefully.
Then, he spoke. "Y/N, my darling, you and I have two very different perspectives on death." He paused, allowing the weight of his words to settle between you. "To explain it in the simplest terms, despite how morbid it may seem to you... it is a compliment."
His tone was strange, detached, but also oddly earnest. It was as if he truly believed that what he was saying made sense. And for a moment, you wondered if he even understood how much his words stung.
You didn’t know what to say, so you stayed quiet, your steps slowing to match his. The city seemed farther away now, the night air colder.
"It doesn’t matter how you intended it, Dazai," you said, your voice firm but not unkind. "You are not well. The way you think… it’s all twisted."
Dazai let out a laugh, sharp and self-deprecating. "Oh, I’m very aware," he said with a smirk, though his eyes betrayed something softer, something less cavalier.
The rest of the walk passed in silence. He didn’t let go of your arm, keeping it interlocked with his, as though he feared letting go would shatter whatever fragile thing existed between you both. The city lights grew sparse as you reached your apartment building, and he walked you right up to your doorstep. Even then, his arm stayed linked with yours, his grip firm but not forceful, as if he wasn’t ready to let you go.
Dazai finally stopped, taking a deep breath. His hesitation was unusual, almost unsettling. "Can I ask you something?" he said, his voice softer than usual.
You sighed, fishing your keys out of your pocket. "I’m not going to say no, am I?"
He smiled faintly, though it didn’t reach his eyes. "When you say you care about me… do you mean it?"
You froze, caught off guard by the question. He wasn’t playing this time. There was no sly grin, no teasing inflection. His eyes, brown and deep as they were, searched yours with an almost childlike vulnerability.
"For someone as smart as you are, you’re being quite moronic right now," you said, your voice gentler than your words. His expression shifted slightly—confused, maybe even a little hurt. You softened, letting out a breath. "Of course I care about you, Dazai. I care about you a lot."
He blinked, processing your words, before making a quiet "Oh-ohh" sound, like he wasn’t quite sure what to do with the information. It was such a Dazai thing to do that it made you smile despite yourself.
Sliding your key into the lock, you turned it and pushed the door open. But before stepping inside, you hesitated. Something tugged at you, a feeling you couldn’t quite ignore.
"Oh, hell, screw it," you muttered under your breath before turning back around. Gently, you reached up and cupped his face, your fingers brushing against the bandages on his cheek. His eyes widened slightly as you leaned in, close enough to see the flecks of gold in his irises, and placed a soft, lingering kiss on his lips.
When you pulled back, his expression was one of pure shock. His mouth opened slightly, but no sound came out. You gave him a small smile, your hands still resting against his cheeks.
"Why don’t you think on that, Osamu Dazai," you said, your tone light but meaningful. Then, pulling away, you stepped inside and closed the door behind you with a quiet click.
For a long moment, Dazai stood there on your doorstep, the night air brushing against his face, his lips still tingling from the kiss. Then, slowly, a small, genuine smile curved across his face—one that no one else would have recognized.

In the Quiet Spaces Between Us~Pau Cubarsi
・❥・prompt list
・❥・masterlist -> part 2
・❥・who I write for
・❥・a/n: I really hope this is what you asked for 🙏🏻
She wasn't sure when her friendship with Pau had shifted into something more—when the late-night texts and easy conversations began carrying a weight that made her heart ache.
Maybe it was the way he smiled at her, soft and unguarded, or the way his texts always seemed to brighten her darkest days. Whatever it was, y/n had fallen for him, and the realization had been as terrifying as it was exhilarating.
But she never told anyone. Not Pau, and certainly not her friend María, who recently announced her crush on him with unbridled enthusiasm.
“I think Pau likes me,” María said one evening as you both sat in a café. Her tone was light, but the certainty in her voice cut through y/n like a blade.
She forced a weak smile. “Why do you think that?”
María shrugged, swirling her straw in her iced coffee. “He’s always looking at me during group hangouts. And the other day, he laughed at one of my jokes even though it wasn’t that funny. That has to mean something, right?”
y/n laughed nervously, clutching her own drink like it was a lifeline. “Maybe he just thought it was funny.”
María grinned, oblivious to the storm brewing inside y/n. “No way. I’ve got a feeling about this. I think he’s going to ask me out soon.”
The words made her stomach twist painfully, but she swallowed the lump in her throat and nodded. “Maybe.” she murmured
That night, Pau texted y/n, just like he always did.
Pau: “How was your day?”
y/n: “It was okay. You?”
Pau: “Long, but better now that I’m talking to you.”
Her fingers hovered over the keyboard, her chest tightening at his words.
Did he mean it the way she wanted him to? Or was this just his way of being a good friend?
y/n: “That’s sweet of you to say.”
Pau: “It’s true. I’d go crazy without our chats.”
She stared at the screen, her heart aching.
If only he knew how much she wished those words carried more meaning.
A few days later, María cornered y/n after a group hangout, her face glowing with excitement. “Hey,” she said, her voice practically buzzing. “I need a favor.”
“What’s up?” she asked, already wary of the look in her eyes.
“Can you ask Pau if he likes me?”
Her words hit her like a punch to the gut. “What?”
María laughed, as though it were the most natural request in the world. “You’re closer to him than I am. He won’t suspect anything if you ask casually.”
y/n felt her mouth go dry. “I don’t think that’s a good idea,” she said, trying to keep her voice steady.
“Oh, come on,” María pressed, her grin faltering. “Please? I really think he likes me, but I just want to be sure before I make a move.”
y/n felt like the ground was crumbling beneath her. How could she not see how much this was hurting her?
Her words were the final straw. y/n mumbled an excuse and left the conversation, retreating to the bathroom where she locked the door behind her. Tears burned her eyes as she leaned against the sink, her chest heaving with silent sobs. It felt like everything was crumbling. Her feelings for Pau and her friendship with María were all colliding, leaving her gasping for air.
When she finally emerged, her eyes red and puffy, she avoided everyone and went straight home. She didn’t even check her phone, ignoring the notifications piling up from Pau.
The next morning, a knock at her door startled y/n. Groggily, she pulled herseld out of bed and shuffled to the door, opening it to find Pau standing there.
“Hey,” he said, his voice soft but laced with concern. “Are you okay? You didn’t reply to my texts last night.”
She blinked at him, her heart aching at the sight of his worried expression. “I’m fine,” she lied.
“No, you’re not,” Pau said, stepping inside without waiting for an invitation. “What’s going on? Did I do something?”
y/n shook her head, avoiding his gaze. “you did nothing wrong. I’m just tired.”
He didn’t speak for a moment, and the silence stretched uncomfortably. Then he said, “Is this about María?”
Her head snapped up, her heart pounding. “What do you mean?”
“She’s been dropping hints lately,” Pau said, his voice careful. “About… us.”
y/n swallowed hard, her throat dry as she expected him to tell her he likes María. “And?”
“And I don’t feel that way about her,” he said simply, his gaze steady on hers.
Relief flooded through her, but it was quickly followed by a wave of guilt. “She really likes you,” she said quietly.
“I know,” Pau said, his voice softening. “But I can’t pretend to feel something I don’t.”
Her hands trembled in her lap, and she clenched them into fists to stop the shaking. “do you like someone else?”
Pau hesitated, his eyes searching hers. “Do you really want to know?”
She nodded, her heart pounding so hard it felt like it might burst.
He reached out, his hand brushing against hers. “I like you,” he said, his voice barely above a whisper.
The words didn’t register at first. She stared at him, stunned. “What?”
“I like you,” he repeated, his tone firmer this time. “I have for a while now. I just didn’t know how to tell you.”
Tears filled her eyes, and she shook her head. “But why? I’m… I’m a mess, Pau. I’m not like María. I’m not—”
“Stop,” he said, cutting her off. He reached for her hand, holding it tightly. “You don’t have to be anyone else. You’re enough, just the way you are. And I don’t care what you think about yourself—I see someone strong, kind, and beautiful.”
His words broke through the walls she'd built around her heart, and a sob escaped her lips. “I thought I was going to lose you,” she whispered.
“You’re not losing me,” Pau said, his voice steady. “Not now, not ever.”
He pulled her into his arms, holding her as she cried. His embrace was warm and safe, and for the first time in what felt like forever, the darkness in her mind began to lift.

The Best Friend part 2
Yes I made a lil 3 parts series for Homelander and his bestie.
If Y/N had to give John one good point, it was that he had been honest.
He could have said nothing, and she probably would have never known.
But at the same time, he wasn't completely stupid, and it wasn't a good idea to keep secrets like that.
Because he himself didn't like being lied to, promising that it would never happen between them, but also that he was giving Firecracker power over him, who could have threatened to tell her everything if he didn't do what she wanted.
Maybe she was blinded by admiration at the moment, claiming that she was at his beck and call and that she wouldn't ask for anything in return, but John knew people. He couldn't trust her.
"I'm not attracted to her at all, I told her that."
"… That reassures and consoles me enormously, John."
"Look, I understand that you're angry. But it was just once, just once ! A moment of weakness. I was exhausted, a lot of things had happened, you weren't there…"
"So it's my fault ?"
"No." He growled before sighing, trying to keep his cool. "I didn't say that. She was very persuasive. How does she know that I… Anyway, it was a mistake. I can fire her, she's no use to me. That idiot is loyal, I can ask her anything I want, but one word from you and she's gone. I can even kill her if you ask."
A lot of people wouldn't know how to react in this situation.
Normally it wasn't a good idea to upset the Homelander. You had to agree with him, not cry, not yell, not talk back. It was already an accomplishment that he admitted he had made a mistake.
Maybe he hadn't apologized, but Y/N was probably smart enough to know that he was sorry and that she should forgive him.
Anyone else would have eventually said sorry, taking the blame on them and making excuses for his cheating.
But besides the fact that she had been his only friend during his childhood, John loved Y/N because she wasn't afraid of him. And that meant she wasn't going to give in when he had hurt her.
"Your solution to a problem always has to be murder. Really, John, we're not eight years old anymore."
"Exactly, that's why we're talking like two adults."
"I'm waiting."
"What ?"
"For you to act like an adult."
Then John chuckled. He put on his eternal air of a guilty child who pretended not to understand what he had done wrong, disturbed that someone dared to corner him in this way, him, the great Homelander.
But seeing that Y/N was staring at him without saying anything, waiting, he quickly regained his seriousness, hiding his embarrassment behind a mask of annoyance.
"I just told you that I wouldn't do it again. She doesn't attract me at all, she's pathetic. I only love you. I've only ever loved you, since forever. The others were nothing, distractions, puppets. You're the only one who really knew me, who made me happy."
"I'm waiting."
"You don't want me to cut her in two, and I can't go back in time by flying around the Earth in the opposite direction of rotation contrary to what some idiots think, I don't see what I can do."
"Apologize."
"… Sorry." he mumbled, looking down, showing a pout.
"No. Better than that, John. Give me your most sincere apologies."
At this point, someone else would already be dead, or at least facing a furious and threatening supe, ready to use his lasers to silence her.
But Y/N was really not just anyone. Realizing that she would not change her mind, John mumbled, hands on his hips, before displaying his fake stage smile.
"I'm so sorry."
"I'm still waiting."
"… I should never have done that, it was pathetic of me. I love you more than anything and I shouldn't take it for granted, you deserve to be treated with respect. Forgive me."
"Hmm. Almost but not yet." she decided, holding back a smile.
She was still angry, but Y/N was ready to forgive him. After all these years, she knew how John was. She knew he would never have said the word "sorry" if he didn't mean it, and he wouldn't have confessed anything if he didn't really care about her.
But the moment was tasty and she wanted to make the most of it, so that he would learn his lesson well.
"What ? You want me to get on my knees ?"
"That would be a good start."
"… Fine."
Y/N had said that as a joke. In truth, she didn't really know what she was waiting for, only that she wanted it to last a little longer. It was impossible to tell whether or not she liked seeing John at her feet, staring at her with fear.
"I'm sorry. Don't leave me."
"Oh, John…"
"I know I can be difficult. You're always good and patient with me, even though I don't deserve it at all. I love you. If you left me, I would die, truly. The day they took you from me, I thought I was having a heart attack. I couldn't breathe. I would destroy everything if you disappeared again."
It wasn't exactly a reassuring statement. It could even have been taken as blackmail or a threat. But John would never hurt Y/N, she knew that.
He would kill everyone else, leaving only them, but he would tear off an arm rather than hurt her.
Tenderly, she stroked his hair, then his cheek, before leaning in to kiss him.
"I forgive you, John."
"Hmm."
"I love you too, I'm not going to leave you."
"Thanks."
"Get up now."
"Hmm. I don't know, I like the view." he said with a small smile. She followed his gaze, still leaning over, understanding that this way he had a full view of her chest and crotch.
The small pat he took on your head made him snicker, as did Y/N's falsely outraged look.
"I know another way to make it up to you."
"It wouldn't really be a punishment."
"I'll just be a little sad if I can't find any milk. But we could also do something to change that."
"Why are you never serious ?" she sighed, rolling her eyes.
The apology ended like that, because she received a call that caught her full attention. Y/N didn't look at John either, who never left her, dangerously serious, and fixed on her stomach.

The Beast Within - Chapter 5
Days in the sun when my life has barely begun. Not until my whole life is done will I ever leave you. Will I tremble again, to my dear one's gorgeous refrain. Will you now forever remain. Out of reach of my arms. Oh, those days in the sun. What I’d give to just relive one. Undo what's done. And bring back the light. Oh, I could sing, of the pain these dark days bring. The spell we are under. Still is the wonder of us I sing of tonight. How, in the midst of all this sorrow, can so much hope and love, endure. I was innocent and certain, now I'm wise but unsure. Days in the past, I can't go back into my childhood. Oh, those precious days couldn't last. One that my father made secure. I can feel a change in me. Oh, hold me closer. I'm stronger now, but still not free. Days in the sun, will return. We must believe as others do. That days in the sun. Will come shinning through.
Flashback
The woods always felt alive, even in their stillness. Sunlight filtered through the canopy of leaves, casting golden patterns on the forest floor. A young Mausi skipped over roots and around trees, her worn shoes crunching against the earthy path. This was her sanctuary, a place where rules didn’t matter, where she could dream endlessly and imagine a world beyond her small village.
As she wandered deeper, a muffled sound stopped her in her tracks. A soft, hiccupping sniffle.
Curiosity, tinged with concern, bubbled inside her. Who could be crying here, in her woods? The sound pulled her forward, her little feet quiet now, as if afraid to disturb the sadness lingering in the air.
And there he was—a boy, crouched by the base of an ancient oak tree, his head buried in his knees, his shoulders shaking ever so slightly. His clothes, though finer than hers, were dirtied from the forest floor. He looked about her age, maybe a little older, but it was hard to tell. His form was curled in on itself, as if he wanted to disappear, to fold himself into the shadows of the woods and never come out.
Mausi’s heart clenched. She didn’t know why, but seeing him like that hurt her in a way she couldn’t name. She wasn’t the kind of girl to ignore someone in pain—especially not when that someone seemed so lost.
She took a cautious step forward, her small voice breaking the silence. “Why are you crying?”
The boy stiffened but didn’t look up. “Go away,” he muttered, his voice raw and shaky.
Mausi frowned but didn’t leave. Instead, she plopped herself down beside him, tucking her knees under her chin. She wasn’t the type to be scared off easily, not by a little grumpiness.
“I’m Mausi,” she said cheerfully, though her voice was softer than usual, as if she knew not to push too hard.
Silence.
“My dad calls me that. It means ‘little mouse.’” She paused, glancing at him. “What’s your name?”
“Doesn’t matter,” he grumbled.
“Well, I’ll just call you ‘grumpy boy’ then,” Mausi said, crossing her arms with mock indignation.
At that, he finally looked up, his tear-streaked face partially hidden by unruly blonde hair. His green eyes, red-rimmed from crying, locked onto hers. For a fleeting moment, something unspoken passed between them—a connection neither could fully understand.
“I don’t need friends,” he said, his tone defensive but weak.
“That’s fine. I don’t need another friend either,” Mausi replied, shrugging. “But I’m not going anywhere. You look like you need someone.”
The boy stared at her, as if trying to decide whether she was a nuisance or a lifeline. Eventually, his shoulders relaxed just a fraction, and he let out a sigh.
They sat there in silence, two small figures against the vastness of the woods. The weight in the air began to lift, little by little, as the boy’s sniffles faded into the rustling of leaves.
From that day on, the two became an unlikely pair, their connection forged in the quiet corners of the forest where the rest of the world couldn’t reach them. The boy never told Mausi his name, and though curiosity burned within her, she never pushed him to share it. Somehow, she understood that names held power, and his reluctance was less about hiding and more about protecting something fragile within himself.
Instead, they created a world of their own, one where names didn’t matter, and labels were irrelevant. They met in the same secluded spot beneath the ancient oak tree, the one whose roots snaked into the earth like veins carrying the lifeblood of the forest. It was their sanctuary—a place where laughter, exploration, and quiet companionship thrived, untainted by the weight of expectations.
The boy was guarded, his words often clipped and his demeanour prickly. He had a way of snapping when he felt too exposed, a defence mechanism Mausi came to recognize as fear rather than anger. But she had a gift for disarming him. Her chatter filled the silences he carried like armour, and though he’d roll his eyes or let out exaggerated sighs, Mausi noticed the corners of his mouth twitching upward when he thought she wasn’t looking.
She talked about anything and everything:how her father was always building something; how she didn't have a mother, how she loves adventures and reading, hoping one day she'll get an adventure of her own, how in her village they made fun of her for being different. Her words painted vibrant pictures, filling their little world with light and warmth.
At first, the boy didn’t respond much beyond a grunt or a sarcastic comment, but slowly, the cracks in his shield began to show. In stolen moments of vulnerability, he shared pieces of himself—little glimpses into the life he kept hidden.
As the weeks turned into months, the boy’s edges softened further. He taught Mausi how to skip stones across the surface of the creek, laughing when her first attempts sent the rocks plunging straight to the bottom. In return, she showed him how to whistle using a blade of grass, their giggles echoing through the forest as they competed to see who could make the loudest sound.
Yet, no matter how much they shared, there was always a heaviness in the boy’s eyes, a weight Mausi couldn’t quite name.
One day, as they sat side by side on the bank of the creek, Mausi noticed a scar running along the inside of his wrist. It was faint, almost hidden by the dirt smudging his skin, but unmistakable. She reached out instinctively, her fingers brushing against it before she realized what she was doing.
The boy jerked his arm away, his expression darkening. “Don’t,” he said sharply, his voice colder than she’d ever heard it.
“I’m sorry,” Mausi stammered, pulling her hand back. “I didn’t mean to—”
“It’s nothing,” he interrupted, his tone firm. But the way he turned away from her, his shoulders tense and his hands clenched into fists, told a different story.
Mausi didn’t say anything else, afraid that if she pushed too hard, he might disappear again. But the scar stayed with her, a silent reminder that the boy she called her friend carried more pain than she could see.
Even in their happiest moments, the shadow lingered. It was in the way he sometimes stared off into the distance, his brow furrowed, as if he were reliving something he couldn’t escape. It was in the way he flinched at sudden noises, his head snapping around as though expecting danger.
Mausi wished she could take that shadow from him, to make him laugh so hard it disappeared forever. But deep down, she knew it wasn’t that simple. Some hurts ran too deep to be erased by kind words or shared laughter.
Still, she stayed. Because even if she couldn’t heal him, she could be there—to listen, to laugh, to remind him that he wasn’t alone.
And in return, the boy gave her something she didn’t even know she needed. For all his guardedness and sharp edges, he made her feel seen in a way no one else ever had. When he looked at her, it was as though she mattered—not as the village’s ‘little mouse’ but as Mausi, a girl who could climb trees and weave daisy chains and bring light into the darkest corners of the forest.
Together, they carved out a space where the weight of the world didn’t exist. It wasn’t perfect, and it wasn’t without its complications, but it was theirs. And for a while, that was enough.
The rain came suddenly, drenching the forest in a matter of moments. Thunder rumbled in the distance, and the sky hung low and gray, casting the woods in a shadowy gloom.
Mausi clutched a bundle of wildflowers in her hands as she raced toward their spot, her heart pounding with a strange urgency she couldn’t explain. The rain soaked through her clothes, chilling her to the bone, but she didn’t care. Something felt wrong—terribly wrong.
When she reached the clearing, she saw him.
He was curled up at the base of their tree, just as he’d been the first day they met. But this time, his sobs were not muffled. They tore through the air, raw and gut-wrenching, the kind of sound that made the world feel heavier.
Mausi dropped the flowers and ran to him, falling to her knees beside him. “What’s wrong?” she asked, her voice trembling. “Are you hurt?”
He didn’t answer. He just shook his head, his hands clutching at the damp fabric of his shirt as if trying to hold himself together.
Mausi hesitated, unsure of what to do. Finally, she did the only thing that felt right—she wrapped her arms around him, pulling him into a tight hug.
“It’s okay,” she whispered, even though she didn’t know if it was. “You’re not alone.”
For a moment, he stiffened in her embrace, as though the kindness was too much to bear. But then he broke, his sobs growing louder as he buried his face in her shoulder.
“I can’t—” he choked out between gasps. “It’s gone. They’re gone. Everything’s gone.”
Mausi didn’t understand what he meant, but she didn’t need to. She just held him tighter, her own tears mixing with the rain as she tried to absorb some of his pain.
For weeks, he didn’t come back.
Mausi visited their spot every day, her heart sinking a little more each time she found it empty. She left little gifts for him—wildflowers, pebbles, even a tiny carved mouse she’d made from a piece of wood. But they remained untouched.
She began to wonder if he was ever coming back.
When he finally did, he wasn’t alone.
Mausi’s face lit up when she saw him, but the joy was short-lived. The boy she knew was gone, replaced by someone colder, harder. He stood with a group of older boys, their laughter sharp and cruel.
“You’re here!” she said, her voice filled with relief. “I was so worried. Are you okay?”
He smirked, though it didn’t reach his eyes. “What, are you some kind of puppy?” he sneered. “I don’t need you following me around.”
The words stung, but Mausi refused to let him see. “That’s all you have to say?” she asked, her voice trembling. “After disappearing for so long?”
“I don’t owe you anything,” he snapped. “I’m not your friend. We’re not even on the same level.”
The boys around him laughed, their jeers echoing in the clearing.
Mausi blinked back tears, her heartbreaking in a way she didn’t think was possible. “Fine,” she said, her voice barely above a whisper. “Sorry I cared.”
She turned and walked away, leaving the flowers she’d brought for him lying on the ground.
The boy watched her go, his fists clenched at his sides. Every instinct screamed at him to call her back, to apologize, to tell her the truth. But he didn’t. He couldn’t.
“She’s better off without me,” he told himself. “Everything I care about gets taken away. It’s better this way.”
But as her figure disappeared into the shadows of the woods, he felt the weight of his words crushing him. For the first time in his young life, he wondered if pushing someone away hurt more than losing them.

Infection
How Kallamar got his scar on his left eye.
For context: Kallamar is seveteen and got recruited by Shamura (who is around 30).
Kallamar did not expect, after being recruited by War themselves as a poisoner, to be in any way met with open arms by the other soldiers, for several reasons.
First of all, he was not a warrior. He only stepped foot on the battlefield after everything was done, and some of the soldiers considered him way too fragile and weak to actually help.
Second, he was a foreigner, and had some problems with the language barrier, even if luckily he came from a place where Silk Cradle's language was pretty used and he even read it on some medical tomes. Still, he had a certain accent (that he was actively trying to lose) and some words were still unknown to him. He was pretty sure thatsome soldiers referred to him with a slur, bbut he was not sure. He wasn't the only foreigner in Shamura's army, but this was not going to stop it.
Also, the fact that he poisoned his ex village was considered by a lot of soldiers as a clear sign that he was, and he could quote the exact words a soldier used behind his back, "a psychotic piece of shit who will not hesitate to stab the Spider's back". Which, obviously, was not true: he had no reason to hurt Shamura! After all, they gave him a home, a role, hot food and sometimes they even talked to him! Way mroe than anything he could had ever wish for!
So, he knew he was not in any way welcome there.
Still, slashing his left eye was a little too much.
Right now, Kallamar was sitting on a brand bed in the medical bay, holding an hand over his now bandaged face.
The doctor was reassuring, once again, that his wound was not going to get infected and that he was going to have a quick recovery, before excusing herself and leaving when Shamura entered.
War glanced at the squid, their expression indecifrable and cold. Disappointed, maybe.
Kallamar looked at the ground, as his mind started to race.
- I was informed of what happened. I still want to hear your side.-
- I didn't... I was not the one to start it.-
- I have no doubt in that, but I still want to hear your version.-
Kallamar was shaking, as he tried to find the words.
- I didn't... I was just... they attacked me out of nowhere, and said i had to "earn my right to live" and things like that, and others were inciting them, and... and... and they had a knife, and...- he was more than omce interrupted by a few sobs - I was scared... I couldn't...-
- You managed to take their knife away and then stabbed your opponent, right?-
- They putted it down, saying something about "a fair fight", and I knew they could had easily snapped my back, I just...-
- You stabbed them in the neck. Precisely in the carotids.-
Kallamar still didn't loook at them.
- And than you stabbed them other fifteen times. Some of the soldiers even report that you started laughing during your rampage.-
Kallamar holded back a sob. As they needed another reason to hate him. He was going to be executed, or thrown in the prison at best. All for a stupid fight.
- I really can't see why you were scared. Honestly, I'm impressed.-
Kallamar looked at the spider, trying to catch an underlying sarcasm. Instead, he found something akin to pride - Do not worry, I am not mad about their death, it was self defense after all.-
- I killed them.-
- They attacked first with the intention to kill you. I can forgive your reasonable outburst of adrenaline. We will have to work on your emotion management and teach you how to incapacitate an opponent without killing them, even if I doubt someone else will decide to try something similar to this.-
Kallamar was sure he must had misheard them.
-... Why aren't you mad? You should be mad that I was the one who survived. You should...- towards the end, he slipped in a swear word in his language.
Shamura's expression was filled with genuine confusion.
- Why would I be mad about that...? You are an important asset in my army and also a good kid with a promising future. I would had been really upset if you actually died.-
Bullshit. They must be lying. He was just a stupid weakling who could not do anything right and who's only role in life was to die and-
- Regardless of whatever your old village made you believe, you matter as much as anyone else. I'm happy you're alive, kid.- the spider gently patted his head, and that was it.
The squid bursted into tears, overwhelmed.
War let him cry, fully knowing how much he needed it.

it makes me SO sad that it’s hard to go through Samwise’s tags or find people for whom he is their favorite that don’t put down Frodo. I’m thankful that the number of those who truly understand him and love both him and who he struggles for is greater than it could be and has been in the past, but it’s still so heartbreaking to see, because I love Sam so dearly, and he’d never want this. It’s such a disrespect of Sam’s character to think that the only way to praise him is to undermine or insult Frodo. And it’s a disrespect to the narrative of Lord of the Rings as well. People constantly reference a cherry picked and out of context piece of a letter Tolkien wrote, desperately trying to claim that Sam is The Singular Hero of the story, when that wasn’t even remotely the context of the letter, yet its been used for years to undermine all the other characters of the series and erase the well rounded character Sam is to shave him into some one dimensional He-Man. Sam is undoubtedly one of the chief characters of the story, THE chief character of the story alongside Frodo. Without Sam the quest would not have been fulfilled. Yet Tolkien makes it clear that Sam could not have done Frodo’s job— especially not on his own. Just as the Ring broke down Frodo, it would have done for Sam— especially by the point of Mordor. That isn’t where Sam’s strength and value lies. It doesn’t lie in being the sacrifice. It lies in being the hope, the support, the utterly maddened loyalty and stubbornness and love that overcomes and strengthens. As I have come to say, Frodo carried the world, and Sam carried Frodo. People seem to think that as lesser, and I find that insulting. Would you find a friend that supported you in dark times lesser? Are they not your world in those moments? Do they not hold up the world for you yourself, as you struggle to carry the weight of it, and remind you that whatever suffering, you will never be abandoned or alone, even if both of you endure the fires of hell and no brightness shines through. It will not be alone. That is the beauty of Sam, and the people that treat that role as though it was not enough or that he should have had more on his plate show their lack of understanding of the very character they claim to praise.
#samwise gamgee#frodo baggins#I was just thinking this bc i realized I didn’t have as many Sam posts on my blog and I began to wonder why since he is one of my favorite#characters of all time#and then I remembered that I have learned to avoid diving directly into his tag without screening the poster first#because most of the content for Sam is just treating Frodo as a burden or useless or weak and Sam as though he had no weakness#and that always hurts because it’s such a disrespect and pity to two of the most wonderful characters ever written#to erase Sam’s struggles and faults and weakness is to reduce him and the very reason he is such an amazing person.#that Sam pushes through and becomes the hero he does despite his flaws and weakness is the very point#the fact that neither Frodo nor Sam could accomplish the quest without the other is the very point#putting down one over the other is such a gross simplification and misunderstanding of the text#and oh I am SO tired of the ‘Sam is the real hero Tolkien said so’ misinfo#I don’t know who started that whole thing but if I ever met them they would get a black eye or a lecture and maybe both#I’ve looked up that letter and it is not at all what people make it out to be.#the general group that spreads that shows they have zero critical thinking or reading comprehension or even media literacy.#it’s sad to see such a valuable story and lesson and narrative be bastardized and trampled on#I love Samwise so deeply. he is undoubtedly the reason Frodo makes it as far as he does#I am lucky to have friends like him. their worth cannot be measured.

Thinking of Kaveh with Unhinged partners again
#//By that; I mean partners who commit the Violences and deadly Chaoses#//Furthermore; said Violences being done upon other ppl bc that person is a Fighter with a side of bloodlust & destruction#//HIs every opposite in damn near every way#☆ ┆ ( .ooc. );#//So lik#//I watched a Wu of the Wa playthrough#//And I fucken LAUGH#//Now Kav is not so dumb he would be FOOLED into thinking they are innocent#//But like#//Them deffo having an on-off thing bc they still manage to worm their way into his heart time and heckin again#//Him continuing to think 'This is the LAST fucken straw; I CANNOT be with sb like his'#//They proceed to show up wounded to his window and tell him they need a quick lil hand and will be on their merry way#//Read: it takes TWOmins of Kav is grumbling & patching them up before they kiss again & Kav thinks to himself MAYBE they can behave#//Then proceeds to get disappointed again when Cy drops news he's hunting them again for Crimes#//Person is a sweetheart to him; or maybe a mischievous lil menace that pushes his buttons to hell and back; but would Never hurt him#//But he HAS to try and draw a line#//But cannot#//Bro is weak for bad boys; and he is fucken PISSED abt it#//Anyway; imma read some k4vet4ru fics I found#//Bc that's the closest to canon I'll get to this ig dkjgbtfg#//And I don't wanna write a particular ship fic rn#//Mostly bc I am already writing one rn actually#//Bc the thought came to me and it Is a bit of a heavy one#//Bc my brain is just 'Hey; you love this blorbo? Corner him'#//Make the guy feel like a prey animal in what should be the happiest time of his life#//Yup yup#//Or as I like to call it 'Why impromptu weddings are better for K4e than proper engagements; etc'#//But thas an update; anywho#//I think a s/o who is absolutely Sc4r Wu of the Waa levels of unhinged would be funny for Kav#//It would not fix him; prolly make him worse & stressed beyond fucken relief. But it would be funny. TO ME lol

absolutely in love with the narrative that, similar to the way dice gets, this whole time otome’s been on a gambler’s high since she’s been on a roll with all that she’s gambled away and that the off arc is where her luck runs out because she didn’t know when to quit, also similar to how dice gambles 😭😭😭
#this is vee speaking#the most fun thing about hypmic is how the way people parallel each other gives them all depth man 😭😭😭😭#like the way everyone with parents issues all wind up very similar to their parents anyway (ichiro samatoki dice kuukou)#but that also in turn reflects what troubles said parents are facing#(rei feeling like he’s weak for not being able to protect his wife otome high on freedom)#on this vein i’ve been looking at the ‘kuukou’s adopted’ thought#thru the lens that he and dice also parallel in the sense that they were given up by their mothers#like i previously thought kuukou and dice paralleled because they’re both sheltered kids who grew up under high expectations#and maybe that still holds true!!!!! but i was wondering if the more direct parallel might be ‘given up by their parents’#hence why kuukou is also of the belief that ‘the only reason a man should cry is because their family is dead’#shakku consoled kuukou being given up by telling him this and it serves the same purpose as samatoki telling ichiro the same#there’s still a chance kuukou could meet her so there’s no point in crying thing#and that’s what i mean by they all parallel and it enriches them!!!!! 😭😭😭😭#i kinda wanna take it a step further and say team kuukou are bound by being passed around as kids#since we don’t know who raised juto afterwards and all three share youth delinquency#but that’s just my hcs for juto’s backstory coming in play lol#c: otome#c: daisu#c: kuukou👑
