OC lore time (weird boygirl edition)
thank you sm for the tag @zoroarkthief!! I'm always happy to share about my wol :'))
Khed'a Dakwhil
—B A S I C S
Name: Khed'a Dakwhil
Nicknames: His adoptive mother called him cicada :> The scions will sometimes call him khedy (tataru started it and then everyone else followed). Aymeric calls him angel as a term of endearment.
Age: 28 at the beginning of ARR
Nameday: Second Astral Moon, 16th Sun
Race: Keeper of the Moon Miqo'te
Gender: Nonbinary, Genderfluid
Orientation: Bisexual with a slight lean towards guys
Profession: He's held every odd job you can think of but predominantly considers himself a white mage.
—P H Y S I C A L A S P E C T S
Hair: Dark brown bob
Eyes: Orange-Brown
Skin: light skin tone
Tattoos/scars: He has a scar of hardened skin in the center of his chest. He also has crystalline streaks going up his forearms. Both are a result of prolonged exposure to earth attuned aether.
—F A M I L Y
Parents: His birth mom is [redacted], and he doesn't know who his father is. His adoptive mother, Aria-A-Yan, was his conjury mentor when he was taken in as an orphan to the conjurer's guild. She was really supportive of him and helped him open up.
Siblings: None!
Grandparents: He heard stories of his grandmother but never knew her.
In-laws and Other: I really like him with Aymeric and considering the end of Heavensward, he's not on good terms with his father-in-law. Lol. As for other relatives, he's very close with the brother of his adopted mother, E-Sumi-Yan, and considers him like an uncle.
Pets: He has a little bird that follows him around named Thistle. He befriended it on the road to Ishgard.
—S K I L L S
Abilities: Khed'a has precise aetheric control as a highly skilled white mage. Due to the condition with his body, he has to keep a careful eye on his aether. During his time with the padjal, he learned how to properly manage and control the aether in his body. He is a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to healing. He learned self-defense techniques while among the padjal that later served him when he moved on to pick up lancer/dragoon as a job.
Hobbies: He enjoys collecting and brewing different teas. He also really likes going on walks, especially when he is in a new place or just needs some time to think. Khed'a has a journal where he takes notes on the local flowers, plants, and insects of an area (and will sometimes press flora in it). He also likes to keep plants, though as a traveler he's found that difficult to maintain. He has a plant in a small pot that he's kept alive by propagating every so often. Khed'a also enjoys birdwatching.
—T R A I T S
Most Positive Trait: His resilience and commitment to making the best of things in any given situation. He doesn't get discouraged despite it all.
Most Negative Trait: He's sometimes too willing to help others, to the point of stretching himself thin. He has issues with being objectified/being treated as a tool for others. He still falls into that role and struggles to properly adovcate for himself since it's a deeply ingrained pattern of behavior he's unlearning.
—L I K E S
Colors: Deep green, earthy browns, red, deep blue, smoky gray.
Smells: Freshly fallen snow, bergamot, chamomile, freshly washed sheets, a warm fire, flowers in bloom.
Textures: soft fabrics like silk and satin, freshly polished wood, the steadiness of a lance, leather, smooth pieces of metal (like jewelry or trinkets).
Drinks: He likes tea most, especially bergamot. He will also drink juices and lemonade. He enjoys hot chocolate as well.
—O T H E R D E T A I L S
Smokes: Nope.
Drinks: He doesn't drink alcohol but he will enjoy tea :3
Drugs: Nope.
Mount Issuance: Black Chocobo gifted from his friend Haurchefant. He will also use the unicorn he befriended as a conjurer, or the witch's broom mount.
Been Arrested: Yes (Post ARR :) Aside from that he hasn't run into too much more on that front.
I tag @freckledfemme @redgemwink @eirikaily @lululeighsworld @cogentsummoner @gnusnoteunuchs & anyone else who wants to talk about their wol/oc in general :3c

👨🎓- what is my muse’s level of education? Is this something they care about one way or another?
Nahte's educated in the ways of the Shroud Moonkeepers as a hunter, and spent many years studying at various guilds - particularly the Arcanists Guild in Limsa Lominsa. He's apprenticed under Ishgardian Dragoon to become a master lancer, as well as with a Nymian Marine to bring back the lost Scholar art through their tutelage. He's studied the histories of Summoning in ancient Allagan texts and trained others to do the same. He has a practical grasp of Red, Blue, Black, and White magic. As a Dark Knight, he's also able to channel more chaotic spells, and with his exposure to the tactics of Ascians and Ancients, he has perspective very few others can claim.
So while he lacks the specialized focus of, for example, a Sharlayan Scholar, Nahte's many years of field-practice, along with this exceptionally broad understanding of mana/magic/aether and the manipulation of natural systems, is all but unparalleled. He is able to think outside the conventions of a particular school and recognize broader trends across different sects of mages. He could easily earn an Archon mark, if he cared enough to pursue one.
Lyrha learned to read and write and do math, skills which helped her excel among less educated pirates. She learned to sail and smuggle and haggle and lie. To fight and swim and sing and dance. She's good at reading people. Her instincts are sharp.
Though incredibly intelligent, she was never formally educated the way a normal child would have been. She couldn't tell you what an adjective is but she can tell you where one belongs in a sentence in three different languages. She didn't learn manners or science or history, and any overlapping classes were certainly not approached the same way as they would've been in an actual school. She's a little sensitive about it.
X'rhun has taught her a lot about magic, but like much else, while she understands how it works practically and is quite skilled with it, she wouldn't understand what the hells a Sharlayan scholar was saying if they started trying to explain it in technical terms and would probably be irritated at them for using big words when smaller ones would suffice.
Louis was trained like an Ishgardian Noble should be. Reading, writing, math, science, history. Politics, geography, strategy. Dancing, archery, swordsmanship, lancing, conjury. Hunting, dragonriding, animal husbandry. To say nothing of more specialized interests and talents he picked up from his parent's variety of skills growing up!
He's very proud of his heritage, and wants to honor the legacy he's been entrusted with while making stories of his own

@immy-ooc @sins-of-the-sea (Yells at tumblr for not letting me tag your main blog)
'aight so, might as well do all of the Seven because I have So Many Thoughts about this.
Option A:
The Seven are Drowned. They exist solely in service to the Lord of the Whorl, Leviathan. Like any who has been claimed by primals, their loyalty to him is unwavering and knows no end. Their continued existence is only to strengthen their god and to summon him unto the world.
They work closely with the Sahagin and the Reavers - plundering supplies as they can, but naturally prioritizing capturing people to sacrifice to him and crystals with which to summon him.
Option B:
The Seven are just another pirate crew in Limsa Lominsa. On the surface, things seem perfectly legal - they have their privateering license and will gladly assure you that the wares they're trying to sell you was, in fact, stolen from a Garlean ship, thank you very much.
But any pirate crew knows how to manage their reputation, doesn't it? Keep a low profile. Stick to the code when you can so you don't draw the attention of the Rogue's Guild. You can get away with almost anything in a nation like this, can't you?
The Crew:
Captain Josep Frascona Race: Midlander Hyur Nationality: Lominsan Classes: Marauder>Warrior, Rogue>Ninja
Marauder and Rogue are both classes that start in Limsa Lominsa - both with a long history connected to piracy, making them easy choices.
Marauders have long had places on ships, their greataxes useful for both combat and felling the masts of other ships. And, as he is the Sin of Wrath... the Job upgrade into Warrior makes sense. He can have a bit of berserker rage, as a treat.
The Rogues are a covert group who serves to enforce the Pirate Code and police the city-state under cover of darkness. So Josep's canon shadowy stealth skills from his fog form can be translated into him having learned from them. I see the Ninja upgrade as something he picks up during a trip to the Far East - noticing similarities in the fighting styles and adapting it into his own.
Abena Frascona
Race: Seeker of the Sun Miqo'te Nationality: Ul'dahn Classes: Musketeer (non-playable), Machinist, Alchemist
Musketeer was a planned musket-wielding class that never got added (but there's still references to it in game so it exists it just can't be you).
Machinist, added in the Heavensward expansion, however, is a gun wielding Job... and the poor guildmaster will hand out guns like candy trying to convince people they're viable weapons.
Alchemist is a crafting class... that I really don't think I have to explain, let Abena make fucked up little potions to her heart's content.
Rashid al-Qadar
Race: Hellsguard Roegadyn (listen. him big i don't make the rules) Nationality: Thavnairian Classes: Gladiator>Paladin, Arcanist>Summoner
Paladin is your classic sword/shield class. And I know this is absolutely a case of me projecting here but I feel like that suits him somehow.
I choose Arcanist because, well. His ability to summon simulacra in canon I feel translates fairly well to the summoning of carbuncles and egis.
Wang Ruixiong
Race: Raen Au Ra (he's a lizard now sorry i just like the scaley guys) Nationality: Doman Classes: Pugilist>Monk, Lancer>Dragoon
"Adept at martial arts" his bio says. Say no more! I give him the power of punch real good. Open your chakras.
Okay so Lancer is a more strenuous one and I'm putting it on the list because of one glamour item you can get: the Eastern Journey Staff. Become fantasy Sun Wukong.
Guy Duchamp
Race: Woodwight Elezen Nationality: (New) Sharlayan Classes: Thaumaturge/Black Mage, Red Mage, Weaver
GG ez, give the guy with fire powers the class/Job with fire spells. Black Mage is an obvious choice.
Red Mage, as in many Final Fantasy games, is a combination of Black and White Magics... but also they fence. He's got magic. He's got a sword. He'll do a fancy french backflip and you'll like it.
It's hard to give some of these guys crafting/gathering classes but... I dunno, maybe the fashionable man knows how to keep his clothes looking good even after so long at sea.
Phoebus Duchamp
Race: Woodwight Elezen Nationality: (New) Sharlayan Classes: Arcanist>Scholar, Carpenter, Botanist
Okay so, like Rashid, it's a case of "give the guy with summons a summoning class" but Phi goes into Scholar because he's assigned healer of the crew. And tbh I feel like nothing says Sloth quite like summoning a fairy to heal your friends instead of doing it yourself. That MP is better used elsewhere he promises.
Botanist is another easy one. Phi has gardening knowledge? He can grow and harvest plants for Gio and Abi.
Carpenter... I just picked that cause it felt the closest to sculpture to me, I mean wood carving is a thing. Plus having someone who knows how to work with wood on your Pirate crew is useful so like. Bonus points.
Giovanni Vespucci
Race: Midlander Hyur Nationality: Ishgardian Classes: Archer>Bard, Pugilist>Monk, Culinarian
Gio's good with music... so let him use the music. Inspire your allies! Buff your friends! Rain arrows on your opponents!
I've kinda been avoiding duplicate classes where I can but Rui teaching Gio is a sweet enough idea that I'll allow it. He's obviously not as high leveled in it as Rui is though.
Culinarian... listen that's the "cooking" crafting class I literally do not need to justify any further. He would weaponize his frying pan like Julyan Manderville if you commit enough food crimes though.

Adventurer Portraits Two: Alts Edition
I have a Highlander, Lalafell, Viera, and a familar looking Miqo’te, with their adventurer plates and quick portraits under the cut!
I have not updated any of the adventurer plates, leaving my pre-patch portraits as they are great and I don’t have to try to recreate them this way.
Satou Weard: my tall, hot, replay the MSQ alt on the same server as my main.
I have two gearsets for each of her DoW or DoM jobs.
Please ignore the Dragon being labeled as Lancer. Made sure that job crystal was properly equipped.
Without the battle stance or victory poses of my main my options were a bit more limited, and I found myself struggling finding images I liked with the Highlander emotes. I ended up deciding that DotL and DotH would be more of a series of standing with icons than it had been for my main, with some extra enthusiasm for culinarian, (bread!) and a little extra flair for weaver, for the beautiful suffering.
Sweete Popoto: my first ever alt, to play with a friend on the Crystal DC. She’s a cute ray of sunshine.
It was at this point that I figured out how to import the portrait from one gearset to another, and Sweete Popoto has the same portrait for all of her DotH
Helenus Vienna: made together with a friend, as black and white viera twins. My friend is the black rabbit and I am the white one. Sort of the tall, hot opposites to our usual lala antics.
I’m taking advantage of the copying portraits function liberally at this point, with Warrior and White Mage being unique, all DotH being the same, and the DotL having the same image but different backgrounds corresponding to the cities that the jobs start from.
Last but not least G’rahaute Tia!
That being said, I do not have much for his glamours yet, and he is the least played thus far, so I decided to focus on trying to capture the uncapturable movement of the ear wiggles, and used the same portrait for all jobs, and the same border, changing the background for each job.
#so that's how I've been spending my patch 6.3#ffxiv#ffxiv highlander#thighlander#viera#lalafell#miquo'te#even with starting to make the process less complicated over time I did really enjoy making all of portraits for my WoLs#and I'm looking forward to seeing everyone else's WoL's#satou says

*some answers may be a bit lewd and for that ONE person who's still in ARR who follows me: spoilers*
1. Watching the sky burn from Southern Thanalan.
2. From the Calamity and the large wave of aether rushing directly at his eyes.
3. Same as the canon with a little bit of the 1.0 version. His is more like spectral visions of ghosts — Not quite spirits of the dead but their memories. As well as forgotten ones.
4. His bright red chocobo in Yojimbo gear and a black mage hat. As for a minion... Gigi.
5. Full of strife. He dealt with being left alone and isolated from the others, being misunderstood based on his race, wanderlust, and just being alone.
6. Absolute dread. He didn't sign up for this and felt an immense amount of guilt and rage.
7. He appreciated his kindness and of course his love for Ishgard, her people, and his knightly ideals. He has since carried a bit of his ideals and his memory as he fights.
8. He was passionate about liberating Ala Mhigo. Even if it wasn't his homeland, the people that did raise him deserved their home. He was tired by it all but after the Zenos incident he was just "hells".
9. Disgust. Hate even. Though... Also a modest amount of respect for his strength as a warrior. That and poking at that one nerve of his addiction to keep fighting.
10. With Midgarsormr, he really respects him and his plight. He even reveled in getting his strength taken away from him because he wanted to be free to choose his own path without Hydaelyn's influence.
Hydaelyn on the otherhand... Was complicated. It started with abject hate. He didn't want to be a god's champion, he didn't want to walk a fate to save a world and be a hero. He resented Hydaelyn for "putting him in this situation". He wanted to be free and find a place to call home.
After Endwalker... He has nothing but respect and love for Hydaelyn, knowing that his path was always his own.
11. Both, leaning to the dragons. Of course, after learning of the truth of the Dragonsong War, he had carried Ysayle's legacy and still actively helps people in The Brume and runs his caravan in Ishgard to assist those in need, adventurers braving the north, and those seeking a home.
12. Initially he was just a stray lancer, took a bit of thievery with the rogue's guild, and then... Once Heavensward began, his rage and despair made him channel the dark arts and became a dark knight. Eventually he grew a tether to his convictions and broke out of his guilt. Once he found out about his father's story of being a Doman samurai, he practiced the blade and somewhat incorporated his fighting style with his dark arts. By Endwalker, he has done his best to carry the memories of people he loves.
He has dabbled in other forms of magic, even attuning to white magic and attuning to the desert nature.
Coming Dawntrail, he may learn how to fight with more versatility with Viper but is also likely to cope with his loss and grief in Endwalker with Pictomancer.
13. Married G'raha Tia. He likes Thancred, Krile (even coming to the point to apply for a scholarship in the Students of Baldesion), cares immensely for Alisaie, thinks of Urianger as an uncle-figure. Loves bullying Alphinaud but cares so much for him. Respects Estinien and thirsts for him, but is too shy to push his luck. Fears Tataru. Dislikes Y'shtola.
14. G'raha, of course.
15. Polyamarous, somewhat promiscuous.
16. Sometimes he practices his swordsmanship to keep at his toes, but eases up when he is too stressed for mercenary work. So he makes coffee and loves taking baths. He loves cooking and eating sushi. His bad habits would probably be more of his self-deprecation. And sometimes smokes.
17. Raubahn, Aymeric, Hien, Merylwb, and Nanamo are good friends to Chormagan! Raubahn and Hien have a saucy and sensual relationship with Chormagan still amazed he got to *ahem* "ride the bull". It's hard to choose but... Overall?. His favorite would be Hien. He's so nice to him and shares a kinship in their pasts and their way of the blade.
18. They stay humble. He still is unsure/embarrassed/self-deprecating about being praised.
19. Hated them. Absolutely hated them.
20. The Crystarium! Goodness he misses the First the most.
21. I haven't done Ivalice or Nier, but soon.
Definitely Coils. It's a given. CT is obvious, Alexander definitely. Sky Pirates... No idea. Omega: YES. Eden is a MUST. Pandaemonium: ABSOLUTELY. Myths of the Realm: YES. Sorrow of Werlyt... Oh gods very much so.
22. A bit of both! I feel like he merges his Samurai techniques with dark arts. He's what I'd consider an abyssal ronin.
23. Besides the raids I mentioned... Eureka is one, Palace of the Dead is definitely one. All the Variant Dungeons thus far (6.55).
OF COURSE THE HILDIBRAND QUESTLINE.
24. Being abandoned. Losing all his freedom. His friends and loved ones dying.
...tonberries and namazu....
25. Yeah he plays with his hair and sometimes smokes. He fidgets and stims sometimes.
26. Chormagan is traumatized alright. Very much so. Oh boy howdy is he depressed and lost in his thoughts. Besides his altruistic endeavors, he wants to know what his legacy would end up being or why he matters more than just being a hero or kind. His self-loathing and inadequacies are something he is kind of bringing into Dawntrail especially with the previous questions with Pictomancy.
27. Heavily. It shaped the way he wanted to help people without reward and with conviction. He loved Ardbert very much and was devastated by it all. He misses the First a lot. He also prefers to be the Warrior of Darkness.
28. Gods no. Emet-Selch was one hell of a person but gradually he came to sympathize him.
29. With Urianger he was not at all surprised. The Exarch? Very much suspected. Didn't resent him as much. Just hurt.
30. Highest point would be the fight on Mt. Gulug and the battle with Hades. His lowest point was realizing Ardbert was gone and mourning him.
31. "Hells. He's absolutely stunning... I wish he would do me..." but also kindness. When they had a talk before the siege on Doma Castle, he had great respect for him.
32. "Ugh."
33. Chorm sympathized with her. If she had better circumstances, she would have been a good ally and understood her anguish.
34. Fundamentally, Chorm is a good person. Absolutely beautiful in my eyes and someone I wish I was. He's got his hangups and traumas, I admit, hells even using his masochism to hurt others sometimes. Though overall he has a lot of kindness and love in his heart.
35. Not at all surprised anymore. Kind of numb, honestly. He does feel bad with people he had no choice in the matter.
Found some questions rummaging through the xiv tags while I wait for this social event to start so send a number and I'll answer it? Feel free to reblog and do the same.
1. Where were they during the Calamity?
2. How did they acquire their Echo?
3. Does their Echo function like it does in the MSQ? Or is there a twist to it?
4. Do they have a canon mount or minion? What's its name(s)?
5. Where are they from? What was their childhood like?
6. How did they deal with the massacre on the Waking Sands?
7. How did they deal with Haurchefant's death?
8. How did they feel about the liberation of Ala Mhigo? Do they feel it could have been handled differently? Where they at all bothered by how they were involved?
9. How do they feel about Zenos?
10. How do they feel about their relationship with Hydaelyn? Midgarsormr?
11. Were they more sympathetic to the dragons, Ishgardians, neither or both?
12. How has their job affected whatever headcanon version is of the MSQ if any?
13. Are they close with any of the other Scions? Who do they get along with the best?
14. Of the Scions, who are they most worried for?
15. Is your WoL promiscuous? Celibate? Or just waiting for the right person?
16. What does your WoL do to relax? What sorts of distractions do they seek? Do they foster any bad habits as a result?
17. Who is their favorite Alliance leader? Who do they get along with the best out of them?
18. Does your WoL fully embrace their role as the WoL or do they try to remain humble?
19. What do they think of the Heaven's Ward?
20. Of all the places they've been to, which is their favorite? Do they like to go back there?
21. Are there any raid storylines (Ivalice, Coil of Bahamut, Werlyt, etc.) you consider to be canon for your WoL? Which ones don't you consider canon?
22. Do you have a unique tale for their job class or is it pretty much like what it is in the game?
23. Are there any side quest storylines that you're particularly fond of or think of as being canon to your WoL's experiences?
24. Does your WoL have any phobias?
25. Do they have any habits or rituals that they do to soothe themselves? I.e. Playing with their hair, chewing their lip, fidgeting, etc.
26. Do they suffer any traumas from any of their adventures? How do you foresee this affecting them going forward?
27. How did the events of Shadowbringers impact them?
28. Were they suspicious or open to Emet-Selch's presence when he first appeared?
29. Did your WoL suspect anything was amiss with Urianger or the Crystal Exarch? Did they feel betrayed? Upset? When the truth finally emerged?
30. What was their highest point in Shadowbringers? Their lowest? What caused it?
31. What were their first impressions of Hien?
32. Did they trust Asahi right away? Why or why not?
33. How did they feel about what happened with Yotsuyu? Did they feel like she was justified in her actions?
34. Would you say your WoL is fundamentally a good person? Or are they a bad person that's been persuaded to do the right things?
35. How do they feel about the fact that they've killed a lot of people and/or things?

Once long ago, LMoi was Warder of her Wood, it was her task to mind the paths and guard the jungles secrets from those who would misuse and trespass upon the Green Way.
LMoi found her place within Eorzea earning her bread for many years with a band of roaming mercenaries, selling her bow or her sword arm to the highest bidder in one vicious skirmish or another and became the warrior without a cause, dressed in her sheathe of supple black leather

It was a hyur by the name of Jambert who pushed a handle of a head knife into her hand and told her “Quit staring bunny-girl and make yerself useful, eh?” A gruff man with little time or kindness for anything that was not his daughter, Geva, Jambert had nevertheless taught LMoi much. When he had succumbed to plague, it was to Geva he had looked to continue his work, LMoi had heard.
Originating from Golmarr, LMoi's talents include medicinal and restorative alchemy. By using rare herbs from the forest to brew aromatic concoctions, she can produce healing salves and antidotes.
When war gave way to brief respites of peace, LMoi always returned to the Leatherworkers or Alchemists Guild, understanding crafting far more succinctly than she did other beings of flesh and blood.

Since being able to play ffxiv, I ended up making my hosie fankids because I Am Weak to character creation lol
But also since I created my hosie fankids here, it got me thinking about what jobs Hope and Josie would have (along with the kids too). So I'm going to put my musings here under the read more if anyone is interested lol
Additionally, the jobs I'll be writing below for the kids are the jobs I will be giving them in the game once I get to unlock it (they're currently in their base class right now and I gotta lvl them up to 30 and do some quests before that)
.
Hope, even though she's a tribrid, I decided that she would have Dragoon as her job. I also did play around with the idea that her second job would be Red Mage since they use both magic and melee, but I definitely prefer the idea of her as a Dragoon way more. I mean, think about it, Hope with her lance/spear, jumping at great heights, and then plummeting down on her enemies to land hits? Hot.
For Josie, I was stumped between Black Mage or Blue Mage. Black Mage because that would be the obvious choice since it's a magic class. But Blue Mage was also appealing since Blue Mages--from what I've read--mimics the abilities of their enemies, and that felt really fitting since Josie is a Siphoner. However, I decided to stick with putting her as a Black Mage instead. It just felt better to me.
For the kids:
Lana is the first born between Hope and Josie and is a Tribrid like Hope, so my thought process for what job Lana would be is the same as Hope. I just think them being Dragoons is neat and totally not because I am biased lol (okay maybe I'm a little biased, but you cannot tell me Dragoons like Fang from ff13, Aranea from ff15, or even Dion from ff16 aren't badass as hell). Currently her base class is Lancer.
Hayley never inherited the magic genes and is a werewolf. So for her, I picked Monk for her job. She's a tough fighter and is always the one to rush into the front lines. Plus, with the training she got from Hope, Hayley is one powerful opponent. Plus, she has a mean right hook lol. So Monk made perfect sense for me when I chose her job. Currently her base class is Pugilist.
Jay was the same as Josie. Debated between Black Mage or Blue Mage, but I ultimately went with Black Mage foe him. I did think about picking a melee job for him since Jay is also an exceptional fighter when not using/relying on magic. But in the end, I decided to stick to my gut and keep him as a Black Mage. Currently his base class is Thaumaturge.
Leo is the last of my Hosie fankids! He was adopted by Hope and Josie after they found him scared and alone in an alley around Mystic Falls. He's also the only human in a family of supernaturals. He always felt like he's missing out in all the cool things because he's only human. Leo ends up learning about magic and can only create potions that don't require him to use magic or spells, only dumping and mixing ingredients and that's it. So anyways, I decided that with that logic, his job woukd be Scholar. As well as Summoner. Scholar because it would be the closest thing I'd think would fit with what he wants to achieve. And Summoner because I just think it'd be neat for him to be able to summon creatures. Plus, I honestly feel like Leo is just that personable to the point where he'd be befriending all sort of creatures (and giving Hope and Josie mild heart attacks when Leo comes home with a hell hound or something lmao). Currently his base class is Arcanist.
Edit: WAIT I NEED TO ADD ONE MORE THING FOR LEO! I think he'd also be great as an Astrologian as well!!!!!!! I mean I think that job fits pretty well, maybe more so than Summoner if I'm being honest.
Oh! And because Leo is adopted, I chose to give him a different race than the other three in the game. Lana, Hayley, and Jay are all Hyur and Midlander clan. When I was creating Leo, I originally wanted him to be an Au Ra Raen, but the shortest i could go for height was like. 5'7" or something? So I picked Miqo'te Seekers of the Sun instead and then I had a realization: Leo = Lion = Cats = Miqo'te. Unintentional Galaxy Brain lmaooo
.
Anyways, that's it for my Hosie and Hosie fankids in the world of FFXIV musings lol

the oc master post
:') under the cut because this puppy is long. it's just a general overview but i love answering questions about my ocs so please don't hesitate to ask me anything <3
one day i will edit this so all of the pictures match but that day is not today.
some things to note: if you're looking to rp or discuss lore with any of my characters, most of them are pretty flexible with their lore. this is mostly just what i consider "canon" for them. i love talking about AUs and things like that.
lehna is my best girl and main wol! she is a dragoon and dating estinien (sometimes they are poly with thancred, but that's not canon; that's just me being self-indulgent). big jock anime protagonist energy. would do anything for her friends and will absolutely turn into a mean girl a la regina george if you offend her or her friends, but is generally very kind to everyone she meets.
nike is my azem. he's a lancer and a gremlin shitlord pain in emet-selch's ass (endearing). also he absolutely wants to fuck your mom and your dad, and probably has. punches gently to show affection. dating no one, because he has commitment issues (but emet-selch is in love with him). he's pansexual.
leon is a wol (separate from lehna) in a shared universe with some friends of mine. black mage nerd who likes to pretend he's cool but is actually very awkward. probably listens to too much my chemical romance. dating my friend's oc asra. very flirty, but if he fails to disarm you by flirting then he stumbles and doesn't know what to do. he's homosexual.
helena is from a poorer noble (?) family in ishgard (not enough to be well-off, but enough to stay out of the brume). secretly writes blasphemous smut under a penname, despite being rather inexperienced herself. childhood friends with zephirin de valhourdin and eventually lovers to enemies. eventually she gets with artoirel de fortemps. i'm currently trying to write a nanowrimo project about her story. helena does not really exist in any of my wol-verses, but kind of exists in all of them? she is bisexual.
althea is an ascian. she worked directly under lahabrea. part of the S.T.A.R.S. verse, and she's inspired a teeny bit by albert wesker from resident evil (hence the name). while not particularly skilled in combat, her mind is her weapon. cold, cruel, and calculating; but she thinks she's doing it for the right reasons. initially an orphan from the steppe, she left after getting her powers. she's bisexual.
rowan is the wol in S.T.A.R.S. verse and mostly sticks to samurai and dark knight. from thavnair, he left after an Accident that killed his father that was mostly his fault. rowan is incredibly soft-hearted and loves his friends more than anything (even if he doesn't think he deserves them). he's always putting other people before himself. in S.T.A.R.S. verse, he's dating quientien. rowan is bisexual.
quientien (aka quin) is a sage from old sharlayan. he's a bit cold, but not on purpose or because he doesn't care; it's more because he thinks about things logically. that is, until althea betrays the group and he becomes an ascian. after this, he becomes a lot more emotional as he feels torn between two lives. ultimately, he decides to stay with the scions and his friends. dating rowan in the S.T.A.R.S. verse. quin is bisexual with a strong preference for men.
jetei was childhood friends with althea. as an oronir, he was bullied a lot by magnai as a child for being smaller than the other boys (though as an adult, he is particularly large by even by au ra standards). he is the only member of the S.T.A.R.S. group without the echo. like althea, he is from the steppe as well. he left with her when she gained her powers, not wanting to remain there alone. her betrayal hurt him most of all. jetei is quiet, reserved, and incredibly shy. he mostly keeps to himself. althea convinced him to pick up reaper not long after the two of them came to eorzea. despite his resting bitch face, jetei is one of the sweetest people you will ever meet. i am currently unsure of jetei's sexuality at the moment, but i am leaning toward asexual/biromantic.
naolih is the queen of my heart was a 1.x warrior of light and is part of the S.T.A.R.S. verse. she is a warrior. after all of her friends died and the world forgot about her, she eventually remembered her past. instead of picking up where she left off, though, she joined the scions to continue helping people and refused to pick up the mantle of "warrior of light" once again (if you try to call her a warrior of light, she WILL fight you). she's very blunt and tells it like it is. while she can come off as a bit harsh, she genuinely cares about the people around her and does not want to disappoint them. she's a lesbian.
#oc stuff#this is the shit i get up to during maintenance :')#this isn't even all of them but i'm hoping to keep this as a living list#i don't have screenshots of the ones i have not listed yet

The Harbinger
U’leki Tia was a man of sense, sensibility, and the sensational. Aged seventy and five, he approached life with a measured coldness. He held that which would not squirm under his thumb, and held that which would at arm’s length. Which was, perhaps, why he made such fast friends with the monsters he found in that Mhachi ruin. He had, of course, been younger then. Strong and fit, with a flash of lighting-bright blonde hair and eyes with the depth of the lochs of Ala Mhigo. He had stood proud and strong as he took step and step down a path that should not have been trod. He had squared his shoulders and set his jaw as he gave up everything. Everything. His mind, his eye, his health… All casualties to the power that burned as a growing conflagration within him.
And he squared his shoulders now, as he stood on the cliffs high above Gridania’s precious tree. He watched twisted, hideous monsters strike down the innocent and pure. He watched the water cloud; first with mud, and then with blood, tinged a disgusting rust color. He smelt the iron from even this high, and he hear the swells and fall of scream-song carried upon the wind as men fought and perished upon horn and claw. Lancers and archers and conjurors, all fed the storm of the Final Days. And there was naught any could do about it. Especially not them. Especially not him, with his feeble frame. His hunched back. His knotted and gnarled leather-skinned knuckles. No. He would bide his time while the world died with him. At least he wouldn’t die alone, now.
He took a deep breath of the evening air, filling his lungs with violence and death. His eye slipped shut, and when it opened, more bodies had fed the monsters below. Two miqo’te, a hyur, a viera, and an au ra all rushed into the clearing. Tainted water sloshed at their ankles as they all spread out, forming what appeared from above to be as near to a fan formation as any could expect them to make with so few bodies. Weapon after weapon came from backs and hips and sheathes. A reaper’s scythe, a mage’s rapier, a conjuror’s cane, an astrologian’s globe, and… A thaumaturge’s staff. That intrigued him, and he sunk down low on crackling knees to squat. He supported himself with his own staff and licked his chapped lips as he stared at the wielder.
The au ra moved with the footwork of someone who had seen martial combat many times. Precision footfalls, twists and turns of her body. Were he to take his eyes away from her, U’leki might lose track of her tiny form. She had skin like eggplant and scales like the black of night, with raven hair and an eye that shone luminescent around the limbal rings even as far away as he was. The other was covered with a thin black veil, tied around her head. Her arms were lean and whiplike, and with them she reeled her staff back…
And U’leki watched the monster in front of the woman explode in a plume of flame. The screech it emitted pierced the air and forced him to flatten his ears to his head lest he lose one more sense in his elder years. But the woman didn’t. She raised her voice to the sky and she cackled. She cackled so he could hear. So all could hear her. It was a triumphant laugh that echoed one of a younger man. A miqo’te man, all alone, holding a shimmering black stone he’d found in a Mhachi ruin. It was the laugh one gave while drunk on power. And the au ra should have been drunk on power, for with each blow inflicted upon her teammates she rained down double the agony upon the monster she fought. The only one facing the insect-like behemoth, her friends all joined forces against the other. Again and again, she raised her staff and immolated the creature alive, or froze its flesh until it cracked and bled. With each movement, the au ra brought down the seven hells upon her prey, and it wasn’t long until she screamed out once more.
“BURN!” She commanded.
And the blasphemy obeyed.
It died with one final, echoing screech. And then it disappeared. And it left the au ra to focus on the other monster her group still fought. And she left U’leki intrigued. Thaumaturges were many, but they were mostly in Ul’dah. With the guild. This au ra… She gripped the staff like a novice. Like it was an object rather than an extension of her power. She waved it too much. She was new, and yet such power… The Thaumaturges surely wouldn’t teach her so much so quickly.
U’leki raised his head a bit more, just in time to watch the final beast fade away, and the elements show their pleasure. Orbs of bright light twinkled and shimmered as they rose skyward, dancing around tree boughs and leaves. The air settled as quickly as the tension had risen, and soon the nighttime was left to U’leki and his thoughts. One by one the adventurers trickled out of the inlet. The lavender-haired hyur spoke excitedly to the au ra, who even from here buzzed with pride and power. He crept closer to the edge, peering over the cliffside, and his heart dropped when he saw her head turn.
Their eyes met. He was sure of it. Though they both only had one, those two eyes met. She saw him, before he slunk back as fast as his ancient bones would let him. And yet she did nothing. Not a word. Not a gesture. Only an old man staring down at a young woman, forming suspicions based upon what he’d seen her so casually unleash on another being. She was cut from similar cloth as he, he thought. She was just like that young man in the Mhachi ruins. And so, to confirm his suspicions, U’leki began the trek down the cliffside.
It was steep and perilous, with rocks and crags that dug into the soles of his boots and caught the end of his robes. His staff, serving now as a walking stick, stuttered and stuck between rocks. But as he’d gotten up, U’leki got down. And it wasn’t so long before he found himself at the edge of the tainted waters.
There wasn’t a sound. Not a breath. Not a stirring. Just him, the stars, and his thoughts. The night was brisk with the coming of spring, and light with the joy of the elementals. Indeed, the air seemed to vibrate with the energy around him. Was he a man stirred to great emotion, it might have swayed him into more cheerful spirits. But instead, he yearned to feed a great, unyielding curiosity. And so, he stepped into the tainted water and waded to where the au ra had stood.
He felt the dead air immediately. One is trained to feel these things when caution is necessary. As soon as he stepped foot in the sphere where she had done most of her casting, the air felt rancid. Dead. And when he looked down, squinting his eye to peer beneath the half-settled swirlings of debris, he could see the circle, about three films in diameter, where the plants around her had withered and died. The aether had been sucked out of them without moderation. Without mercy. Without awareness.
With his suspicions confirmed, U’leki lifted his head, and he stared after where the black mage had gone.

ralsei 3?
Ralsei flattened his paws down on his hat to keep it from blowing away in a sudden, quite nonsensical breeze.
It'd take quite a lot of time and walking to go and fetch it... he thought, peeping over the balcony and watching the scarlet-tree-speckled ground spill out all the way below. It's... not as though I have anything better to do now, though.
They'd all felt the fountain resonate when Susie and Kris went back to their world. And it felt wrong, disrespectful, faithless, to tread on sacred ground just to check if they were truly gone, or already back.
They will come back, he promised himself, looking up at the black void that passed for a sky. It is foretold in stars and earth, and that's what matters. Look, you'll have so many things to show them! Like Susie's plethora of cakes, and the scrapbook you'll make of your journey together for SAVEkeeping-
The door behind him creaked open. "Oh, Toothpaste Boy-?" It shut. "I mean, fellow prince!! Hello and greetings!"
Lancer trotted up to Ralsei's side, now wearing a very nice dark blue cape and a crooked crown he kept on adjusting with his little arms.
"Lancer!" Ralsei gave him a smile. "You look different! Um... did you get a haircut?"
"Ha ha ha! Do you like it??" Lancer swished his cape around, making the hearts-clubs-diamonds-spades embroidered on it sparkle. "I got a cape, too! We found it in a closet! Lesser Dad fixed out all the holes and stuff!"
"It... looks very nice, actually." Ralsei offered him a paw. "Here, come on up."
"I thought you'd have gotten home by now." Lancer reached out, and his cape gave two massive butterfly flaps, soaring him up to Ralsei's eyelevel; Ralsei snatched him from the sky in a panic and gently tugged him down to the railing. "Do you need a guard escort for the perils on the way? I can get you a guard escort! Anything for my good friend's good friend!"
"Um... no, that's alright." Ralsei glanced away.
"Hm?" Lancer's tongue poked out a little. "What about your subjects? Won't they be missing you?"
"..." Ralsei reached up and pulled his hat down a little. "Lancer, I'm... not a prince like you are. I don't have people to lead and take care of. It's only me."
"Oh!" Lancer kicked his feet back and forth, sitting back on the railing. "Then, um, how do you know you're a real prince?"
"...Because the prophecy says- says so. And, if I'm part of the prophecy, then I have to be one."
"Oh, okay." Lancer looked over his shoulder at the kingdom below him. "Do you like not having subjects?"
Ralsei felt the breeze whisper at the back of his head again. "Of course I do! It's for Kris, and Susie, and doing it for them makes me happy. No matter how lonely it is."
The two sat in quiet for a bit, watching stars and candles wink in and out of existence below them.
"Do you think you can be a prince and something else at the same time?" Lancer asked.
"What do you mean?"
Lancer pulled off his crown and began twirling it around his arm like a hula hoop. "The puzzle guys and the kings and the coatrack, they said they remembered a time when the court had a bunch of folks in it, and they sometimes yelled at the kings to stop them from doing unpleasant stuff."
"...Oh." Ralsei frowned. "That in itself seems a little unpleasant."
"Right?? The kings said so too!" Lancer re-set his crown on his head. "It sounds like they weren't very good at listening to their court, though. The coatrack said they would give all sorts of advice so I'd be better at making the right choice, no yelling. So I decided to make the coatrack a court member, and my dad, and I was thinking, hmm, who else? And then I thought of you!"
"...M-me?" Ralsei turned pink, waving his paws. "Oh, oh, no, Lancer, I- I've got a, I-"
"You said you didn't want to go back to your kingdom!" Lancer smiled up at him. "It's alright if you don't, but- um, if you agree, you won't be lonely anymore! And I'll stop teasing you!! Much!"
"Hey, you just called me 'Toothpaste Boy'!"
"Does 'Toothpaste Boy' really count as teasing, Toothpaste Boy??"
"...Yes, it does, actually. I've just decided right now."
"Okay, Not-Toothpaste-Boy." Lancer paused. "Wait, what's your name?"
"Ralsei. I'm Ralsei, Lancer."
"Ralsei. Ralsei Ralsei Ralsei, Court Mage." Lancer beamed. "How does that sound, Ralsei? You can learn magic, and defend the kingdom, and protect everyone, and stuff!"
Ralsei took off his hat and looked down into it, adjusting. "Lancer, I..."
"What's wrong?"
"Why... me?" Ralsei looked back up. "I mean, you barely know me, and- is it just because I'm Susie's friend?"
"Welllllll, that's one big factor. I would trust anyone who's Susie's friend!" Lancer stood up, surprisingly nimble on the slippery railing. "But there's more! I saw you when..." He paused. "When you were with my dad. You were ready to fight for me alongside her, weren't you? Even if we weren't friends before...?"
"...Of- of course I was." Ralsei stood a little straighter. "Of course."
"And before that- we were fighting you. We were gonna thrash you, and-" Lancer smiled at the ground. "You said you liked me. You could've fought back against me and Susie, but you didn't."
Ralsei nodded quietly.
"I ran to go get help when you were fighting my dad because I trusted that you'd all do the right thing," Lancer added. "Not just Susie, but you, and the one called Kris."
He perked up. "And it all worked itself out, didn't it?? Now the whole kingdom's trying to fix itself, and, and it's all because of you three! You- oh- oh! What's wrong, Ralsei?"
Ralsei suddenly realized he was crying. "Um, um, I'm not sure. I'm sorry-"
"Here!" Lancer offered a corner of his cape. "It's alright, Ralsei! I've always wanted my dramatic speeches to bring someone to tears someday!"
"R-right." Ralsei sniffled into the cape. "I'm... yeah, Lancer. Thank you..."
"You're welcome," Lancer said proudly, plopping down next to him and patting his back.
"...I'd really like to become better friends with you, Lancer," Ralsei said after he was done, cracking a little smile. "I'd... like to become your court mage, and,"
"Well, don't worry about becoming friends!!! We have all the time in this world!" Lancer hopped off the railing, tugging Ralsei along by his dress. "Come on, I'll show you to your new room. This balcony is so windy, you can't sleep here!"
"New room-???" Ralsei let out a yelp, flattening his paw down on his hat to keep it from blowing off as they ran into the hallway.
"Of course!! Don't worry, we can repaint the carousel if you want!"
The door slammed shut with a gust of wind, and the balcony was empty once more.

Current list of ocs:
Kordelia Bloefiswyn/ Merlbryda Eynzahrwyn: Rogaedyn woman, lancer, dancer, culinarian, fisher, and dyslexic. 23 years old at the time of ARR and 7'9" tall. In a polyamorous triad with Urianger and Moenbryda, and will have three children: Moenbryda jr. Estinien jr. And Bismark. Only daughter of Admiral Merlwyb Bloefiswyn and Eynzahr Slafyrsyn (so far). She uses the fake name Kordelia Bloefiswyn while adventuring in order to help hide the fact that her parents are married (because fraternization), and uses Kordelia to prevent confusion with people dealing with her first name vs. Her mother's first name. She spent several years of her youth working at the Bismark, first as a waitress then as a cook, and has both passion and talent for cooking. She uses nicknames for just about everyone, usually related to how she sees their personality. During the Dragoon questline, she and Estinien become sworn siblings due to their ability to both be the Azure Dragoon, and proceeded to be even closer as brother and sister as time went on.
Regana Shielde: hyur woman, Paladin, gunbreaker, and Armorer. She 39 years old, hails from Ala Mhigo, and is the younger sister of Raubahn Aldynn with a 5 year age gap. As a young woman, Regana was infatuated with Ilberd (listen what other options were there in that village) and he even proposed to her shortly before the Garlean invasion. She took the pseudonym of Shielde to keep herself and her adopted sons Arenvald and Meteor, whom she adopted after they were each orphaned, from being arrested too. After she fled Ala Mhigo to Thanalan, Regana worked as an armorer to support herself and her sons, usually serving other refugees or traveling merchants. She dates and marries Thancred, adopts Ryne and has twins with him.
Toshasha Tosha: Lalafell woman, 20 years old, Warrior, Dark Knight, and Weaver. She served as Nanamo Ul Namo's Lady-in-Waiting for most of her life under the guidance of her mother, Gashasha Gasha the Lady-in-Waiting of the previous Sultana, until Raubahn noticed her looking at the soldiers training, and sent her away to learn how to fight so she could also serve as Nanamo's bodyguard. Dates and marries Pipin Tarupin, and has a son named Lilirya Ul Nanarya. Toshasha and Nanamo considered each other sisters because they grew up together, and during Heavensward it is revealed that they are half siblings and Toshasha is a member of the royal family, making her Toshasha Ul Tosha, 18th in the line of Ul. Tataru is her cousin, on her mother's side.
R'osi Tia: Miqo'te trans man, black mage, red mage, and alchemist with the voice of Puss in Boots. Dating G'raha Tia. He also has the Allagan eye, but as the left eye and passed down through the maternal line. He was raised almost entirely by his mother, R'shakkal Nulah as she worked as a dyemaker and colorist. After the events of the Crystal Tower raids, R'osi was so affected by G'raha's sacrifice that he sewed his Allagan eye shut, and it remained that way until the end of Shadowbringers. After the end of Shadowbringers he looses his left arm and it is replaces with a magical prosthetic made out of crystal from the Crystal Tower.
Akimune Daito: Au Ra man, Scholar, Samurai, and Goldsmith. He hails from Doma and is the adopted son of Gosetsu and foster brother of Hien, sent away to Eorzea by Hien just before his first rebellion attempt. Dated Cid Garlond, then they decided they were better off friends. Later dates Estinien. He adopts a little au ra baby girl that he names Yachiyo Daito, in order to honor Gosetsu after a certain event in Stormblood. Later he and Estinien have several other children named Gosetsu Jr. , Alberic Jr. , Ysale Jr. And Tsuyu.
Valljan Rawbewesfv: Viera man, 169 years old at the start of A Realm Reborn, 5'9, a White Mage, Sage, and leatherworker hailing from the village of Huin. He has albinism, often stays out of the sun to prevent burns and has to wear glasses due to his poor eyesight. He informally adopted Alphinaud and Alisaie upon meeting them, and during the Coils of Bahamut raids Louisouix Leveilleur officially names him their guardian. Valljan proceeds to adopt several more children upon his journey, very exasperated that everyone keeps leaving their children out where anyone can get to them! Eventually forms a polycule with Ameliance and Fourchenalt, although it takes a while for Valljan to warm up to the latter.
Rivienne Haillienarte: Duskwight Elezen woman, Bard, Machinist, and Carpenter. Has a polyamorous marriage with Hauchefant and Aymeric. She was raised by her hermit parents in a hidden corner of the Black Shroud. Her father, named Paulemont, was a son of House Haillienarte from Ishgard that was the only survivor of a dragon attack. He was nursed to health by a Duskwight woman named Selaine in the Black Shroud, and then married her and they had Rivienne. Shortly after he recovered, he knew that he'd already been gone long enough to be executed for desertion by Ishgard, so just stayed in the Shroud. Rivienne has one son named Dacien Fortemps, and one daughter named Celestine Fortemps. She has a very odd personality, her social skills being a strange mix between nonexistent and that of a high-born Ishgardian lady. Her friends growing up were just the Sylphs and the occasional moogle, and occasionally uses some of their speech patterns. She's also a bimbo (affectionate).
Svyatovit Sonjasch: Hrothgar woman, Monk, Astrologian, and Blacksmith. A survivor of the Bozja Incident along with her father, Perun Asonja, and her three childhood best friends, Vladimir, Sasha, and Andrej. In the aftermath of Bozja's destruction, Perun led the 4 youths to safety and met up with some other survivors who were outside the city, raising them and what other children were left very strictly in the old ways and encouraging them to take back their home. At age 25 when Svyatovit was expected to take men into her entourage, beginning with her best friends, she felt trapped between wanting to fulfill her father's wishes and longing for some of her own freedom and control. She left tokens for her three husbands, and ran away to Eorzea, leading to the events of the game. She puts up a front of harsh words and arrogance to hide the constant anxiety deep within, hoping that if she can scare everyone else more that she won't be scared of them. N
Origin Awakened/ Persephone: Persephone is the daughter of Hades/Emet-Selch and Hythlodeus. She was a small child during the First Final Days, and when Hydaelyn Sundered the world she shielded young Persephone from it, hiding her in the Aetherial Sea and keeping her in a coma. Unfortunately an unintended side-effect of being in a coma for thousands of years in the Aetherial Sea is that she lost most of her memories.
In her sleep, however, she found the sundered shards of her aunts and uncles, aka other members of the Convocation, and shaped them to what felt right based off of what little she did remember. In doing so, he tied pieces of his own soul to them, and was able to watch the story of their adventures through their eyes. This also tied the 8 warriors of light's souls to each other, and in the events before Shadowbringers they could feel a huge gaping hole when one by one they were summoned to the First. Once the last 4 arrived in the First, the painful lack was no longer there, and the Eight were able to start using their connection now that they were aware of it. However, it wasn't until they and the Scions arrived in Amaurot that Origin (as she named herself from making the Warriors of Light) woke up. He realized that the city felt right, felt like home, that the shades calling him child was familiar but he didn't know how. She accidentally possessed the Eight, and wandered around the recreated city in a daze until Emet-Selch was confronted.
At that point Origin asked him what she was. If she was an Ascian like him. She had wandered the city and listened to the shades talk about creation magic, and look at what she had made! She didn't even know she really existed as a part of the world before seeing the city, so what was she?
Naturally, Emet-selch freaks the fuck out and now that she is possessing the Eight he can see her soul, rather than just traces of her soul on the edges of their shards. He asks her if she knows her name, and she answers Origin. And he tells her that her name is Persephone. They argue for a while, with Emet-Selch trying to convince her to join him and give up R'osi so they can bring her mother and her home back. Origin refuses, as the world as it is now is what she knows, loves, and remembers.
Origin bips back to the Source to steal a Solus clone so he doesn't have to keep possessing the Eight, and comes back to the First to help them fight Hades. In his last moments, he hands his daughter his mask and asks her to remember them.
Origin paints the mask purple and wears it in his honor, and forges weapons made of his auracite. She adopts his signature snap, and starts being a much more active member of the Scions and working with the Warriors of Light.

Fate
SO. This is a thing that happened at some point and now I’m talking about it too. Am I one of the cool kids now?
Fate is a series about hot magic people fighting over a cup. It started as porn but now it’s a legit franchise. That just happens to have some gratuitous sex in it.
I’ve really only seen some of the animes (the ones on netflix), but I love the whole aesthetic.
The Holy Grail War is a series of battles fought between mages and Servants, magically empowered figures from the past (usually, though not necessarily, heroes) that are sorted into seven classes: Saber, Lancer, Archer, Rider, Caster, Assassin and Berserker and fight using Noble Phantasms, weapons or abilities that relate to their legend in some way.
The goal of this war is to acquire the Holy Grail, which is said to be able to grant any wish.
It usually involves lots of people dying and the Servants - who lived miserable lives and died shitty deaths for their deeds - have ever more misery heaped upon them.
Probably the most famous anime among them, the one that I saw first was Fate/Stay Night (why it’s called Fate/Stay Night I don’t know) Unlimited Blade Works.
Cast in the role of protagonist are Shirou Emiya, a young boy whose family and home neighborhood were all wiped out in a mysterious disaster of which Shirou was the only survivor and Rin Tohsaka, a young woman from an ancient and venerated mage family whose sister was sold off as a sex slave because her father only needed one heir. Not that Rin seems terribly broken up about it.
Shirou stumbles backwards into the HGW when he accidentally summons the Saber servant, a mysterious woman who transpires to be none other than King Arthur.
Rin summons the Archer servant, who begs off of answering questions about his true identity by claiming amnesia. And also he really really hates Shirou for reasons that I don’t have to tell you because this show is almost a decade old and you should already know.
Also Gilgamesh is there. The guy from Epic of Gilgamesh. He’s a blonde white dude from a time before blond white dudes were even a thing, because of course he is, who calls everyone mongrel.
Anyway, middle middle middle, SEKI NO HERO middle middle middle and Shirou and Rin live happily ever after even though literally no one else does.
====
Fate Zero is a prequel to Fate/Stay Night. Its main character is Kiritsugu Emiya, who would one day become Shirou’s adoptive father after his actions lead directly to the deaths of Shirou’s friends and family. It was an accident. Sort of.
Interestingly, Kiritsugu’s Servant was also Arthur. They didn’t get along because Arthur had a stick up her ass about chivalry and Kiritsugu was a “blow up a building to kill one man” kind of guy. To be fair, that one man is a total chode.
Notable for Rider AKA Iskandar AKA Alexander the Great, who in addition to being a total bro, told Saber to eat shit for not living up to his idea of how a king should behave.
Considering he doesn’t have any regrets about the way that he ruled and Arthur has nothing but regrets, he may be thought to have a point.
Also Gilgamesh is there too.
====
Fate/Apocrypha, which is an unconnected parallel universe type thing I think. It’s kind of unclear. Anyway, it’s interesting for several reasons.
Firstly, because there are actually 14 Servants, two teams of 7 (Called Servants of Black and Red) alongside a 15th Servant of the Ruler class who just makes sure everyone is fighting fair or something.
Secondly, the nominal “heroes” are Nazi remnants. Luckily they drop off the hero radar after a while and this jagoff called Sieg is the actual main character alongside the Rider servant of Black, Astolfo and the Ruler Servant Jeanne d’Arc.
Thirdly the Saber Servant of Red is none other than Arthur’s son/daughter (it’s complicated) Mordred.
Things go off the rails pretty quickly and then middle middle middle Sieg turns into a dragon and flies off somewhere or something.
====
Fate Extra Last Encore, which is also doing its own thing, I remember the least about because most of it is SO BORING. But on the other hand, it has the best Saber in Nero Claudius, former Empress of Rome.
She seems like she has a lot more fun than Arthur, who is just basic.
All four of them are on Netflix. Watch them. Love them. If you don’t I hate you.

Records/Lunar Nexus
We in the Nexus believe one thing: "All Stories, Under Sun and Moon, Must be Known."
Life is rough for freelance mage Hermia Filo (29). She's down on her luck, living alone, and her funds are running low. Thankfully, a stroke of luck allowed her to be hired as a Keeper in London's own Grand Collection Hall: The Nexus.
However, when some light hazing from her senior coworkers ended up making Hermia summon a Servant, things get a bit messy — especially with his knowledge of the previous Grail War's rules. Seems like the Grail — dubbed to be destroyed by the Association — has yet to be found.
As the Nexus sets its sights on the elusive Grail, other eyes set theirs on the Nexus' collection of artifacts. Hermia must now defend herself, her coworkers, and the Nexus from the dark corners of London's mage society.
Characters & Love Interests
Hermia "Mia" Filo (29)
The main protagonist; a jumpy but stalwart gal with a love of horror stories and history. She was hired to work for the Nexus due to her impressive mastery of 10 languages. Hermia is the only mage in her family so she feels rather out of place among other magi. A trans pansexual disaster who tends to go with the flow because she'd feel bad if she said no.
Hektor (38)
The Servant Hermia summoned under the Lancer Class. A seemingly lackadaisical man who enjoys lazing off more than working but proves himself to be a loyal retainer and a savvy tactician. The Keepers all take a shine to him since it seems that Hektor can do almost anything well.
Betelgeuse "Bee" Maddox (30)
A childhood friend of Hermia and the person who recommended her to the Nexus' director. He's a hardworking man, but he often wears hinself out and always comes to work tired (if he actually went home, that is). Claims his blood is made of 90% caffeine. Works in the Scouting Division.
Pritha Khatri (30)
The Security & Maintainence Division's captain, sporting an eyepatch and white streaks in her jet black hair. She's something of the Keepers' "big sister" who always acts gently but is always ready to slap (er, pummel) sense into people. Lost her eye in an incident three months ago that killed many Keepers and the previous Director. Violently despises bugs.
Qamara Sorel (33)
The acting director of the Nexus and a skilled alchemist. Qamara was once one of Atlas Academy's Six Sources before getting herself exiled. A smart and industrious woman who seem to actually care about her employees lives (hopefully, if she isn't being a bitch). CEO of Firdawsi Winery. Known in the Association as "Moonshine Mage", a title she truly hates.
Ryuto de Gieter (29)
A Keeper in the Security & Maintainence Division, sporting an eye-catching silver mohawk. The de facto strongest Keeper with his enormous body count, Ryuto is actually quite a spirited goofball despite his rough exterior. Enjoys friendly talks and cooking, but don't forget why he's called "The Guillotine" in some corners of mage society.
Gabrielia Prodroma (24)
The Nexus' very first intern in 15 years, supervised by Myron Arziani. Gabrielia is an undergrad graduate with nothing to do who was accepted into the Nexus by sheer chance. As she's actually a regular human, she has no talent in all things magical but she's apparently well-connected enough to allow Keepers to get into places without worry. A cheerful and endearing girl, she's very talkative and is quite easy to get along with.
Myron Arziani (27)
Captain of the Scouting Division. A tidy, curt, and efficient man who doesn't mince his words. He can seem rather rigid but apparently he's quite a lady's man and very popular with many Keepers, so he's probably not as cold as one might think. Despite his lean frame, Myron is quite the capable swordsman and quite quick on his feat. His track records say that he used to work with the Burial Agency, so don't you dare underestimate him.
Odile Mullenbach (30)
Captain of the Information Division, noticable by the witch hat she always insists on wearing. A sweet and somewhat harebrained woman, she spends many hours researching the Nexus' vast assortment of tomes. Quite the bright lady Odile is, as she seems to know a vast number of useless but interesting trivia. Always makes a habit of "cleansing" the Nexus' halls with her crystals.
Syams Sorel (33)
The de facto director of the Nexus and Qamara's hated older brother. With his handsome smile and lively laugh, he charms and bedazzles even the coldest of people. But underneath that charisma lies a hedonist who only cares about himself. Banned from the Nexus because he keeps trying to steal artifacts to sell them.
