Jared and Jensen Gold Panel (SPNDC)
Major thanks to Fangasm for the photos, as most are largely theirs. There are a couple that are from other fans, which I will link to.
We're starting to get a trickle of photo ops right now. I'll post some in a bit.
CE posted a link for their intro video.
The boys giving each other props as the gold panel begins!
Jensen: "i worked an all nighter filming so I was tired yesterday."
Jared: "But he had his makeup still on so he looked great!"
(No wonder Jensen looked so tired yesterday!)
Jensen said Christian Kane might be coming to conventions too.
(I have reservations for that, but neither here nor there for now.)
Jared says his PowerPoint would be on watches. Ha! Okay.
Jensen says his PowerPoint would be on sleep. Sir... can we also have access to that PowerPoint?
Earliest memory?
Jared: "I remember swimming in a sea of millions..."
Jensen: "I got this is got this!"
Jensen says he remembers a swarm of hornets. Yikes!
J2 forever!
Jared on sleeping on having made mistakes.
Jensen: "Pick your battles. I always try to tread lightly and be respectful in a conflict instead of engage defensively."
Jensen on pursuing acting: "I didn't know if it was the path for me but I thought give it a shot."
And we are glad for it!
Jared: "Similar. I've had a lifelong relationship with doubting myself. I at first ran away from it (acting)."
Jared and Jensen both do breath work to change mood or calm down.
Jensen: "Breathing - Wim Hof Breathing technique. And, I'm considering cold plunge."
J2 thanking the fans!
Leaving the gold panel!
Brothers in all but blood!
Bonus!
What would their characters drink? Apparently Mark Meachum drinks cheap beer.
Edited: Someone uploaded the gold panel already!

How was the rest of the Kuroshitsuji panel? I'm curious lol
I'm so glad you asked! I was actually planning to make a post on this regardless of interest, so it's convenient that someone will actually already be curious to hear lol. Here is the long version of what happened at the panel:
Before CDawgVA, the directors, and Daisuke Ono came out onstage, they had a hype man going around and interviewing cosplayers in the audience/giving them random Crunchyroll prizes. He would ask the cosplayers to tell him something about their costume. My favorites were the Sebastian who cut their wig just that morning and the Ciel who left their neck bow at home, so they improvised one out of tissues and it actually looked pretty good. Here's my picture of it on the big screen:
I guess I'm an outlier who never watched a CDawgVA video, so seeing him in person was actually my first time seeing him ever. He seemed like a nice guy and happy to be there, I can see why people like him. He did a pretty good job inviting the guests onstage and asking them questions -
Producer Yoshito Ito and director Kenjirou Okada both received applause when they came out, but the crowd fuckin exploded for Daisuke Ono. He clearly has a lot of experience in working a room, he did a little theatrical bow when he walked out, and I think he said "yes, my lord" or something like that, I don't remember exactly. I'm actually not much of a fan of his, but I still joined everyone else in cheering loudly for him -
All the guests spoke Japanese and as far as I could tell the translator did a really good job up there, he was quick on the draw every time. I could tell the fan next to me spoke some Japanese and he seemed to think it was accurate -
To break the ice, CDawg asked the three panelists about what they thought of Los Angeles. I can't remember what the director and producer said, but Ono went to see a Lakers game and had a good time even though they lost -
Then CDawg (do people call him that or Connor? I actually don't know, sorry if I sound like a pleb) said that because Sebastian likes cats so much, he wonders if any of the panelists would like to have a cat. I believe it was Okada who said he had a cat two years ago when he lived with his parents, but when he moved out, his mother told him "The cat is staying here." Ito said he would rather have a dog, and Ono said he would also prefer a dog, but he would definitely name the dog "Sebastian" -
The panel was scheduled to be under an hour, so I was kind of glad when CDawg moved on from the goofy questions and asked about the anime. Ito and Okada talked about location scouting a little bit in England. They said the oddest thing for them was how there weren't mountains and that they could see the horizon even when they weren't near water. They said if they hadn't actually visited England, they probably would have put mountains around Weston...... -
CDawg also asked them about the food (and apologized for its taste before they could answer lol). Ito and Okada said that they enjoyed the fish and chips, but were surprised that afternoon tea did not live up to the hype. They didn't like the scones with clotted cream, which surprised CDawg, who said "clotted cream is the only good food we have" lmao -
Ito and Okada also talked about how they initially turned down an offer to make a new season, supposedly because they didn't think they could hold a candle to the earlier seasons. They said they later changed their minds when they realized that there were still fans of the series who wanted to see what came next. I personally don't buy that answer, but not for any reason other than it sounds fake. Maybe there's some truth to it (maybe) -
They also talked about how they really went into the Public School arc hoping to create something that felt different from the previous seasons. That was interesting to me, because it didn't really feel like that's what they were going for when I watched it, but okay I guess they were -
Ono said the most exciting thing for him about working on the Public School arc was that he was granted permission to give a more emotional performance this time. He believes that Ciel and Sebastian's experience fighting Undertaker on the Campania was a turning point in their relationship and that it changed the way he voiced Sebastian. He really did seem pleased with this fact, though it seemed to me that he could not remember Book of Atlantic very well lol—but that could have simply been due to the way the translator referred to it as "that cruise ship" -
I think that was when they took another little break to play a game CDawg came up with where the panelists had to guess what a few words in British slang meant. The first was the Welsh word "cwtch". We weren't supposed to take pictures but your girl took one anyway
"Cwtch" is pronounced "cootch" and CDawg said "Here's a hint: when you see Ciel, you want to give him a cwtch." Through no fault of the Welsh, CDawg clearly picked this word to sound like an innuendo, and some people in the audience were shouting "Kiss? Kiss?" I can't remember who, but either Ito or Okada's guess was something the translator apparently "Couldn't say out loud" with the impression that their guess was sexually inappropriate? Ono and the remaining director/producer guessed the word "hug" which was close: "cwtch" means "cuddle." It was such a bizarre moment, I stg when will we stop making sexual jokes about this child character. That includes you, Yana 🫵 -
The next word CDawg had everyone guess was "chuffed", with a picture of young Vincent celebrating his cricket victory. The hint was "you feel this after you win a cricket match." Both Ito and Okada correctly guessed "happy" and Ono guessed "like you want to drink a beer." CDawg said that that was truly in the spirit of English culture -
After that we got the Green Witch trailer, which was another bizarre moment, this time for the reason that we saw no new animation and we basically knew it was coming. Still, the audience went wild and it was fun to experience it together. We also got the 2025 release date so I guess that's cool -
Next, Ito and Okada talked about the upcoming season a little bit. The only thing of note that I can recall is that they said they weren't going location scouting this time because Sieglinde's village wasn't a real place. However, they said they planned to take a lot of inspiration from the manga itself. These points struck me as disheartening and obvious in turn, but I guess at least they were honest -
Ono said he was excited to give a darker performance this time around. He also said, mostly likely to drum up the crowd, that he was a little nervous but that he could do anything with "Ciel" (Maaya Sakamoto) by his side, and yes the audience did eat it up with more applause -
After that, CDawg raffled off what looked to be a drawing of Sebastian, possibly by Yumi Shimizu, signed by Daisuke Ono. They had given us these tickets before the panel started and the person with the winning number got the prize. Shockingly, I did not win -
Next someone came and took a picture of the panelists and the audience in the background, then Daisuke Ono did this thing where he waved at everyone and got us to wave with him, and finally the panel ended after roughly fifty minutes
Overall, I give the event a 6/10. We didn't have a lot of time, so I understood that they couldn't go too in-depth and that they wanted to keep it lighthearted too, but I personally would have appreciated some more interesting information on season 4 or something juicy about season 5. As it was, it felt like a lot of what we learned was entirely unsurprising. But it was nice of everyone to come all the way from Japan and the UK, and I guess it's kind of cool to say I've seen Daisuke Ono live now, even though he's only my third favorite Sebastian. My expectations were low, I went just to say I was there, and what I mainly gained was a bit of whimsical joy at being in a room full of Kuro fans, which is no bad prize at all.

I'm curious - how many unanswered asks do you have in your inbox? Or do you just delete the ones you don't plan on answering?
do you feel good anon
do you feel good about yourself with this question
targeting me like that
geeeeez
ok but more seriously LMAO i have an embarrassingly large amount of unanswered asks but i do read all of them <3 a lot of them honestly are just from folks like, sharing their anonymous opinions about either LO and LR, with the odd one about comic advice, sharing webtoon recommendations, and other things of that nature!
In the case of the LO asks, it's stuff that often has already been spoken about at length before so I don't really have anything to add (but trust me, I'm usually in total agreement, if I heavily disagree with a take I'll usually try to respond to it but it's rare that that's the case because most of the takes are just things like "wow the art in this panel sucks" like yep it sure do LOL) and often it just feels like my inbox is just like, a comment box for people to get their feelings out anonymously and honestly that's fine, I just also can't really respond to every single one unfortunately, but I do read them and I love y'all's takes!
With LR asks, y'all are way too sweet to me and send me just the kindest things about LR, and I hope y'all know that even if I wind up not getting back to your ask about it, I do read everything you send and appreciate so much the amount of support you've all shown for this project since I took it on <3 A lot of those asks are literally my version of "do it for her" where I read them and it reminds me of why it's so worth doing what I do :') <3
Whenever people recommend me other works to read, I add them to a list and I am currently trying to tackle it :) (honestly that list isn't as big as you'd think, a lot of the recommendations are for the same stuff, like other Greek myth retelling comics or otherwise just bad webtoons that people want me to suffer thru LOL) I just recently finally got a physical copy of Song of Achilles and while it's slow going, I'm gonna be sharing my extended thoughts about it, either in a big Tumblr post or maybe a video if I can motivate myself to do it 🤔
And of course, the comic advice asks... these ones admittedly I do tend to actually move into my drafts because I really, REALLY do want to respond to them, but I'm also not someone to half-ass responses to questions like that. That is a bit of a bad habit on my end because it often means I'm spending crazy amounts of time going over topics that can be researched, but I also just really love talking about comics so it doesn't feel good to get a comic advice ask and just leave it at "idk just start" like yeah, do that, but also I want to pass on all the things I WISH I had known when I was first starting out and I'm glad people see me as someone to learn those things from! So when it comes to those asks, don't worry, I'm picking away at them <3 (but also man, I should probably just like... put together some kind of hitchhiker's guide to comic making or something huh LOL)
Anyways! I do have a lot of unanswered asks and honestly, I'm not really one to delete them, even if I don't get back to some of them it is still nice to read them in their own little curated space separate from my main blog, it's kind of like a personal comment section between myself and those of you who took the time to write <3 The only asks I tend to outright delete are ones that are just like, way too bad faith to even want to give any attention to, or bot spam lmao But for the majority of y'all who have sent genuine asks to my inbox and never saw a response and worry that I might have ignored it or deleted it, I hope you can have reassurance in knowing that they are all still there and even if I can't make time every day to respond to them, receiving all your personal takes about LO and your amazing feedback and kind words about LR is something I'm always excited to see whenever that little notification pops up in my Inbox tab. I see you and appreciate you <3

Thank you for posting videos, pictures, and the Tribeca panel commentary on twitter. It is much appreciated. 🙏🏻
[ Anonymous #2 asked ]: Sarah, would you mind writing a S701 review since you were at the premiere last night? Don't mind spoilers and you can warn others if they don't want to read. Loved it when you did it before. Thanks!
Hello Anons! Thanks so much for both your asks! I hope you don't mind me combining both your asks.
You're so welcome, Anon #1! I so glad so many people enjoyed my posts about it! I'm very grateful that I've been able to go to these events for several years now. I know that so many of you don't get that opportunity, so I try to do what I can to bring it to you all even if only virtually. Things are always so much more fun when they're shared, anyway. After all, that's what fandom should be about! 💜
For anyone who missed it, you can check out my Twitter page for my full coverage of 92Y and the Tribeca Festival. But here's some GIF spam from my favorite of the videos I was able to capture this week!
Anon #2, yes of course I'll write up a summary of my thoughts. I know you said you don't mind them, but I will try my very best to not include any spoilers in it as I know it really does ruin it for some. But just in case:
~~~POSSIBLE SPOILERS FOR OUTLANDER 7x01 BELOW~~~ ~~~SERIOUSLY, DON’T @ ME THAT I DIDN’T WARN YOU~~~
Outlander 7x01, "A Life Well Lost"
As Caitriona + Sam have mentioned previously in interviews, 7x01 picks up right where 6x08 left off. No time jump or anything, which I was really glad for. The opening scene was SHOCKING and used something that I thought was really clever and really rude all at the same time lol. I can tell you that the audience gasped because of it. I feel this bit was extremely effectively done. Caitriona's micro-expressions really made it for me.
One thing that surprised me — and perhaps it shouldn't simply because Outlander has always been full of this — was that there were so many small moments of humor in this episode, despite the obvious dire situation Claire and Jamie are in (but really, when aren't they lol). There's a new small side character that both Claire and Jamie get to interact with that provides much needed comedic breaks. Even Jamie's menacing looks add to this. Claire especially, I feel, gets to use her biting wit (or just straight up cursing) to add some humor to the tenseness. There's one particularly funny scene that takes place on a boat and involves an interrupting officer that I so loved! The entire audience burst out laughing when we saw it.
While Caitriona + Sam were obviously amazing, I'll say the surprising standout actor in this episode wasn't them. I won't say who, but it's someone we're well acquainted with. There are moments straight out of the book that this actor just fully nails. We're so lucky to have such strong actors filling these side character roles and s/he is just fantastic. Their sincerity and conviction sold me completely.
As book readers can probably guess from the title and from where we are in the timeline, we know basically what will happen in this episode — and they to stick pretty well to it. Even so, it is still so satisfying to get to see it played out on screen. Claire's despair, hope, and heartbreak. Jamie's torment, anger, and determination. The relief of it all. It's all played so, so well across Caitriona + Sam's faces and in their line delivery. Sam said during the Tribeca panel that Jamie is perhaps "more frail" in this episode, and I think that can be said for both of them. Despite them being well versed in separation, I think every subsequent one after their 20 year split wears on them more and more. And they both play that so expertly, making the time that we do see them together just that much sweeter. I don't think it's too spoilery to say that yes, they do share several scenes together this episode so dinna fash!
As for Brianna and R*ger, their scenes are pretty well separate from the Jamie x Claire scenes. I don't really have much to say about them, except that they move certain other storylines that will become more important later on in the season forward. And only just so. While it was important to do so, honestly it felt a bit filler-like. That said, I am actually pretty excited for certain arcs for Brianna and Jemmy later on (while also hoping they don't include that storyline for R*ger... sorry, not sorry) and this brought them maybe half a step closer to it.
Other than the moment on the boat I had mentioned earlier, there are two scenes toward the end which I really loved. One was such a sweet moment straight out of the book with some really great book lines that I had very much wanted to hear. it is Classic™ Jamie x Claire, so you know Caitriona + Sam knocked it out of the park. The second is not a book scene (I believe?? I don't remember it anyway), but was a great one for Sam / Jamie. It's how the episode ends and I told a new friend I had met in the Tribeca line that the final moment of the episode reminded me of Batman's cape swooshing over the camera turning everything black. Lol take from that what you will!
Some other random thoughts:
Jamie x Claire are SO. SOFT. They say separation makes the heart grow fonder? Really, it makes those two grandparents softer AND I LOVE IT.
I LOVED seeing Caitriona + Sam's names appear as Executive Producers! The entire audience was singing along to The Skye Boat song and then burst out cheering when that came up.
I really hope Major MacDonald's wig gets snatched by Adso at some point because F him lol
Overall, I'd say I enjoyed the episode. Some might say it's a bit slow, which I wouldn't disagree with. But knowing that 1) they had to get this part over with the tie up the Season 6 cliffhanger; and 2) this is really going to be a jam packed season of action and emotion, I think I'm okay with that. I've heard it from more than one source that 7x02 is even better than 7x01 so I'm really excited! I'm also really excited to meet our newer cast members, as none of them featured in the premiere episode. The Hunters especially will be so much fun to watch!
Hearing Caitriona + Sam speak about not only this season, but their journey with Outlander overall makes me so grateful that the quality is still there after seven seasons. They're clearly still so passionate about these characters and are determined to do them justice in every way to the very end. And I think that most definitely shows up in their scenes. I'm super curious to see if there's anything noticeably different or better now that they've been promoted to Executive Producers. And of course, to see Caitriona's first foray into directing!! Until then, I'm looking forward to you all seeing the first episode for yourselves 💜
Your last post about your animatic process was super interesting to read! I've always wanted to get into animatics but they become super intimidating to me once I finish thumbnailing. Do you have any tips on ways to keep from getting overwhelmed with big animatic projects?
Also, how do you decide how many frames a moment needs? Do you just start out with stills and then see what feels stale or is that something you figure out in the planning stages? Sorry for all the questions haha, love your work!
Im glad the post was informative!! and dont worry I love fielding questions like this !!
I'm sorry to say that there really is no big secret or anything about getting to the finish line on an animatic but making sure you keep going. If it's any comfort, if this is something you're doing for fun because you're interested in it and think it could be cool to make, there is no rush to the finish line! It's daunting, but there's no race. and think of how cool it'd be to see it to completion
For me personally, making sure I keep toiling away on it even if it's just refining half a shot per day is a big thing because I'm someone who'll forget his keys are if they are not in my direct line of sight (they are in my back pocket )
I've always had a pretty good grasp of timing (aurghhh 12 animation principles . explodes ) for animation so the framecount always comes naturally to me. I usually determine those timings during a cleaned up sketch stage, or even at the linework stage itself if I feel confident enough in the shot's comp.
I generally do begin with just one panel to span a whole section, then break it down based on 'beats' in audio (or dialogue captions). I like to frame animations based on accents in audio - change the drawing on an aural beat and I find it makes the animation more appealing that way!! (And if you're drawing with OR without audio, I often act it out in real time and get video reference of it, and see how I naturally move and if my timing matches up with that.) Sometimes the original plan changes, too, so don't be afraid to remove or add more frames if you feel like it may be better that way!
PKNA Week... um. Five? Five
Hi! I'm Spam, I'm WAY behind, you know this by now. I'm letting myself read PKNA as a little break between reading allergy information because lord my head is spinning. It's two time
TWO ! we got some DOS action going on here! im stealing someone else's post where they went haha. dos! because uno--sorry
sick vr helmet donald has going on--i'd love for uno to put me in the neuron pod. sorry thats what im calling this thing because the wires kinda look like neuron. shoutout to the plane in the back
dhasam-bul. alright. can get behind yellow and pink those are colors i like despite spam being incredibly purple... oughgh the colors in duckburg are nice too sorry i just like how its pastel rainbow in this comic
uno so silly... we need more uno laughing at donald's suffering i think
donald's stupid smug face i'm so mad. men to say Who's laughing now?
shoutout to this random camera guy in the background. ooh... if there's a hacker type situation. and there's vr. is donald gonna go in the computer PLEASE that was always my favorite like. trope as a kid. when they'd go inside a video game or the internet or something and you'd see all these dated 90s depictions of technology it was the best looking thing to me no matter the quality of the episode itself. yes lets go digital was my favorite episode of phin.eas and ferb
i love how uno's always so cheeky. and you know what. he deserves to look down on other computers. ough the uno donald expressions are always silly in these opening sections i'm so glad uno's around so often
yesssss.... i should have guessed this by the fact there were all sorts of ones and zeroes on the cover but oho. ohohoho...
i would screenshot these donald uno panels too but there's so many of them and they're all so cute on this page ough. the little cleanup robots uno sent out are cute. not like in a megavolt way but in a "that's cute looking" way sorry i have to specify now
JFIOEAJFOIAEJ UNO JUST DROPPING DONALD DOWN THE ELEVATOR im so
sorry uno smiling is always a must screenshot
oughoughogugohgoghough now this is the SHIT i came here for! polygons. even like fake polygons. ohoho. oohhoohoo the clouds and the abstraction are a welcome addition but i like how he's swimming in it. yessssss
i don't know i'm just a sucker for this kind of like. abstraction view of the internet you know. its literally not how it works but damn it its so charming anyway. cyberspace...
this shot of angus fangus is so goofy like with the dialogue and everything. whiny man
the bubbly little like. glitch effects. ooh. ooh. i like how he punishes donald for being just a little selfish
okay so That's where that's going. angus fangus is seeing a miku-like projection right now i see i see sorry. okay now the king kong is kinda sick i'll give them that. rigging projection lights...
sorry im just laughing at all the goofy frames. like donald turning his back to uno suffering
i love the transition from serious donald to silly goofy donald. like all donald is silly goofy donald but paperinik just being like woof! i'm beat! after Deductioning is a treat to see okay
the cops harassing a guy just because he "looks foreign"? now that's the police!
donald likes going into cyberspace doesn't he...
i love how lying is bolded here. makes me think he's saying it like Lying! (jazz hands). the jazz hands are essential but he doesn't have hands so jazz... thoughts. programming. his processors are overloading!! his ram is getting too much information!! he's getting overstimulated!!
uno vocaloi.d when
i like how uno's first thought is uhhhhhh you see donald we could ummmmm toon.town online it! we could smash him, if i must proclaim, with hammers!
3d projector technology (at least for vo.caloid performances) literally us just like. using mutliple projectors with different things at different angles to produce one single image, so! i like how donald calls angus zuchini brain. reminded of bush brain and melon head...
this is my favorite person at the computer fair they slap
this panel slaps... sorry i just. pkna's hatching when used effectively sure is used effectively
:((((( god this plan is actually good like the dramatic irony here is spot on. donald can't tell why uno is stressed his expressions... the shattered uno orb.....................
ah i guess they are uno now. honestly bummer considering i thought they were going the other direction with it but considering this was bad enugh to make ducklair himeslf come back i should have probably seen this coming. and that he's two, uno with a triangle head. alright and he's already world dominating i miss uno
UNO!!! little stick ball uno... little guy's on backup now...
uno's face... HUFOEAHFE the way that he just SPROINGed away the electronic master key
this was a great issue! pkna does take a lot more to like. read than it does to engage with anything else but damn it. im a sucker for virtual crap and its always nice seeing a plethora of uno
Philly Fan Expo highlights:
MEET @pastafossa !!
We had our photo before anything else and sadly I guess i forgot to order a digital copy so I have to scan mine later and post it.
And then the autograph line: seeing Charlie again from the line:
Then it was my turn! For someone reason I decided to tell Charlie that I just quit a horrible job and coming here to meet him was a highlight at the end of that job. And he basically said he was glad I left a job like that AND THEN wished me good luck in my next endeavors! 😭 so, since Charlie has blessed my next adventure, I will be walking in the place of my dream job to hand them my resume and hope for the best!
The panel was really good! Fans asked some good questions and questions they also couldn’t answer. Also, a popular “fact” was debunked by Charlie. He did not actually live with Eddie, Andrew and Rob. (Also got a video of Charlie fondling that flipping microphone, like sir please. What were you doing!?😂)
I was so glad to walk the show floor this time around as I wasn’t able to do so at MegaCon. Me and Pasta were on the hunt for Daredevil stuff which was majorly lacking! But I was able to find a cool silhouette print (that I low key “stole” from someone. Okay, that’s a lie: I saw the print on the wall and then saw this guy pick it up from the bin and I asked if he saw many more in there and sudd he’s handing it to me, basically shoving it in my hand for me to take. I was like “oh no! I can’t take it I just asking if there was more!” And he insisted that I take it and his friend was like “trust me. Take it.” So, I did. And now it’s mine)
Art:
Our hunt continued and I spotted a beautiful Daredevil art print and pointed it out to Pasta and she bought it! The artist signed it for her and he’s also on Etsy, which we have seen that print before! So we both were successful in our DD art hunt!
At that point we were so done, sore and tired and later went to eat where we were low key “kicked out” of the Panera bread cuz we sat there talking most of the time 😂
But I gotta say. Hanging out with @pastafossa all day was amazing! It didn’t feel like it was the first time meeting in person, it felt like I’ve already known her for years so that was awesome. And I got to witness her ask Charlie to hold the glowing red thread to his chest!
Besides Charlie, one of the best parts this weekend was when fans of Pasta and TRT came up to her. Seeing and hearing the impact TRT has on people is incredible and you guys sang praises to someone immensely talented in writing in every way. I loved hearing the passion in your voices and the things you spoke about because I FEEL THE SAME WAY! I love that this Daredevil fic has brought people together and made friends out of each other and we all collectively, deeply love what Pasta has created.
I was happy to meet you guys along with her!
(Ps. I gave Pasta the TRT themed gift I made and she loved it!)
I remember when lots of videos and theories about Cassandra came out after the “Destinies Collide” cliffhanger, and when I saw one where Cassandra was Gothel’s daughter, I brushed it off. I actually had enough confidence in this show to believe that they wouldn’t sabotage Cassandra (and Rapunzel’s) characters by having Cassandra gaslight and blame Rapunzel for her own kidnaping. Clearly, I was wrong. The fact that I had faith in this show to give Cassandra a good motivation, angers me.
Here's the thing. There were people who theorized that since the moment she set foot on screen. Since the moment they saw black, curly hair and grey-ish eyes. Since the moment she was bathed in Disney Villain green light while sneaking Rapunzel out of the castle.
There was a guy at D23 Expo 2017 who tried to get Chris to confirm that Cassandra was Gothel's daughter, and Chris' response was something like, "Let's just say that you have no idea where her character is going to go," or something like that. It was a heavily implied negative, though. (You can probably find it on a recording of the panel on YouTube.)
And I hated it. Since the first time someone theorized that Cassandra was Gothel's daughter, I hated the very idea of it. I hated that they felt the need to not let Rapunzel actually escape Gothel. I hated that they thought Gothel not only could get pregnant (a rant to which I have written multiple posts in the past), but would carry the baby to full term even if she could, allowing her body to stretch out and get lumpy and swollen - Gothel, whose primary defining trait is her vanity - allowing herself to to be inconvenienced for the better part of a year, and then inconvenienced further when she had to take care of the baby with no guaranteed reward from it. If they had made it so that there was an actual reason for her to have a baby, I would have begrudgingly allowed it, but we weren't even granted a half-baked concept of "Gothel was ordered by Zhan Tiri to have a baby and groom it to become her vessel" or something like that.
I used the phrase, "I have faith that the crew will do it right," so many times, and I was so vocal about my hatred of the theory. So much so that when the reveal happened, multiple people asked me if I was alright. In fact, if I'm honest, I hated the reveal so much that it was difficult for me to enjoy the S3 premier the first time I watched it, because I was just so full of anger that they chose such a stupid way to go. I had to watch it again later and skip past "Crossing the Line".
And I still hate it. Of a thousand options they could have gone for, "Cassandra is Gothel's daughter" is the one they went with. And what's worse, this wasn't one of their hairbrained course-altering decisions that they'd been known to make. Cassandra was imagined as Gothel's daughter from the start. In fact, even as they were finishing production on the first few episodes, they had not yet decided whether or not she already knew she was Gothel's daughter and was out for revenge from the start or not.
And honestly, the fact that they chose 'not' makes it even worse. If her plan had been to get revenge on Rapunzel all along, but she gradually grew to like her until Zhan Tiri prodded her into action, it would have made a lot more sense than her heel-turn because of the reveal.
Everything about Cassandra, from her concept to her design to her villain design, was supposed to be cool and edgy to the detriment of her character development and motivations. They were so focused on how cool they could make her that it didn't matter if anything about what she was doing made sense. (And please be assured that by "they," I mostly mean the showrunner.)
Cassandra had so much potential, and she was utterly flubbed. I'm glad there are some people out there who enjoy not only her character but her story arc, but I am not one of them. I like her potential, but not much else about her.
okay i posted photos already but i wanna talk about the weekend so here is a summary: (this is a long post bc am on mobile i am so sorry)
1. FUCK showmasters. money-grabbing, delusional, godawful cunts. i'm glad he only had a 2-event contract with them, but i hope it doesn't put him off future UK cons
2. i got to tell him how much luke's character means to me, that he portrayed an autistic person very sensitively and properly which is tough to get right, that his range is phenomenal and i'm glad he's getting the love he deserves. i don't wanna be That Person and say he wanted to hug me but was ~forbidden~ to, but his arms definitely moved out before he looked at the staff member and then instead reached out to take my hand. he said "thank you, love, your words mean the world to me" and holy SHIT his hands are the SOFTEST THINGS IN THE WORLD!!!!!!! this was also day 1 so he was in the cardigan look and he looked So Ralph i couldn't keep it together lmao
3. when i tell you this man was a CONVEYOR BELT for photo ops. we all joked that you could have put a cardboard cutout in there and it would be exactly the same. same face in all of them and everything. he really seemed done with it all then
4. the panel was. well. about the same as any other. same questions as always were asked. same answers were given. i think bc music as a topic is so opinion based he's been actively deflecting questions about his personal music taste but my GOD did people push that anyway. poor man went into hysterics when someone said to say hi to wes, he was so done with the day. and oh my GOD he hates that panel host guy LMAO his face would be so sweet and gentle when he was talking to the fans and then that guy would open his mouth and jq's face would DROP it was so funny
5. i haven't even mentioned!!!! i made so many friends!!! mostly by wearing my djo hoodie everywhere lol. joe squared supremacy <3 but yeah. i've missed the con experience of just telling someone you like something about them and then spending an entire weekend attached to their hips lol
6. day 2 was SOOOO much calmer. i think bc it was announced super late and also he was only there for half a day. HE HAD A LIL SCRUFF OF BEARD 🥰🥰🥰 and he seemed so much happier. like actual "hello! so nice to see you! how have you been?!" like you see how he is at most cons. he wasn't like that yesterday lmao
7. going off that, when i said "oh you know, just pressing on" he frowned and said "well i hope it gets better!" i said "oh it's great! i've had a good weekend, i hope you have too!" and he went "its been... fucking... lovely!" but the "fucking" was said under his breath in a tone that's usually followed by "mental" or "a shitshow" but yeah. THEN HE WINKED AT ME!!!!!! and said "take care now, won't you?" that's the jq i'd been seeing in videos.
8. photos were much the same but i liked my second one better AND he rubbed my back, said "thank you so much for coming, get home safe!" AND HE WINKED AGAIN
9. day 2 panel was fuckin. EMPTY. i asked him a question about how he said in the wonderland interview that he'd love to pursue a music career, i was like "was that for real or were you just saying it to get to the next question" and he was like "i'm just so lazy, it takes a lot of work to be a musician and i'm not one now, but someday i might start a band" aw. also he is a VERY sarcastic man who i think people take way too seriously lol. also x2 his bitchface towards the host was even less subtle LMAO
10. we saw him leaving and the poor man had his cap on and his head down, he REALLY wanted to leave and i don't blame him in the slightest
11. FUCK. showmasters. they deliberately oversold jq and didn't honour refunds, autographs were either included in diamond passes or bought on the day for £75 IN CASH??? and one of my new friends was the only one left when they cut for time from photo ops, she asked if she could just get one, JOE SAID YES BUT THE STAFF SAID NO. we had one staff member talking to us DIRECTLY about what time jq was paid to stay until, said "but it would be nice if he chooses to stay longer" and then started talking about how last year's summer event was so unfairly criticised?? and was like "even joe said he wasn't stressed" ofc he isn't gonna talk shit about a company he was still legally under contract for??? and one tried to tell us not to sit on the floor, 30ft away from the first aid room door, bc there was NO OTHER SEATING, saying that it's our own fault if we got mauled by a stretcher in an emergency. there was no emergency.
12. i have practically bankrupt myself at artist booths and i'm tempted to do it all again in liverpool in a few weeks lmfao
queen charlotte’s first meeting scene is as rip off from magnificent century kösem. i hope this will become bigger news when show starts
https://twitter.com/aofaglover/status/1573758456737124352?s=46&t=Cj8-wxU3Iw5Sa0s-i59iAw
Just wanna put this disclaimer out before anyone starts reading under the cut: Despite this ask & post and my own feelings about the show, it has been really heartwarming to see BIPOC fans delight in this show and my fandom friends gushing to me about this :D That is something no one can take away from them and I'm very glad they enjoyed it!
[This is also my first and last post on QC so my overall thoughts on the show and everything surrounding it will be there at the end!]
Hello again yall!! I actually started writing this a month ago when I was in Bali with my fam but could never find a good pic comparing George and Julian lmaooo so I gave up on it for a while. Also I've been hella busy at work but I'm back for a bit!
Heya anon! I'm not sure if I blogged about it but the moment the first teaser of their meet cute dropped, every one who has seen Turkish drama kicked up a fuss on Twitter. As they should!!
This is the original clip in question:
youtube
Alot of people did talk about it at the time - especially on Twitter and Reddit and I know a few of my mutuals on here talked about it briefly.
The ripping off was not a great start to the QC promo on top of "Love cures racism". All my friends have given their input on the "realistic" aspect of the show, I agree with their points and don't have much to add on tbh so I'll link the posts here:
Tbh yall can just go through Triv’s QC tag
Honorable Post Mentions:
On top of this rip off meet cute; I picked this ask cos ever since the first few promo stills dropped my friends and I - particularly Zaira, Triv and Belle - noticed another rip off from our childhoods.
Can yall guess what it is?
Yall he's SO Julian coded please - I love him (this is me saying before the show aired and I won't be watching but the vibes are thereee)
Then the video of QC and LD came out recently (a month ago when I wrote this reply hahah):
Down to the dresses, it's giving:
Shoutout to @hptriviachamp for pointing it out lmao
Sidebar: while I'm not interested in QC's premise, I do love how well India and Arsema are playing their chars (from what I've seen so far) and I WOULD LOVE to see a version of Barbie's Princess and Pauper with these two!! Speaking of them, look at their chemistry in this pic!!
Also me seeing the end of the vid:
All in all to say the Kosem copying was bad and it should be called out but the Barbie references are all in good fun!
Since this is the main ask I've gotten about the show, I'm also going to put my main thoughts here and I don't think I'll be answering any follow up asks because every take has kind of been said and done. I really don't have much to add on since I'm not ever going to watch the show either.
Outside of the show, I adoree that India and Arsema are getting their flowers and the couple is being promoted how they should be! It's all well deserved. A small part of me does feel sad because if this is the PR team going all out, where was all this fanfare for S2, Jimone and Kathony?
However, based on what I've been told:
- I'm glad the chemistry between QC and George was good and everyone enjoyed their romance
- Who on the team hates LD?? Because COME ON martial rape AND giving her a not-hot older man IN VIOLET'S DAD OF ALL PEOPLE?? They did her so dirty. Idc if Lord Ledger gave her the first orgasm of her life, I see that man and no thank you. My girl deserved someone as hot as Adolphus!
- These two things is a HUGE reason why I can't watch the show cos of my triggers: I hate hate how gratuitous they were with the torture porn - both with LD's scenes with her husband (FOURRRR MARTIAL RAPE SCENES THAT'S LAUGHED OFF AS A GAG???) and George getting waterboarded for his mental illness. As someone who experienced SA and has a mental illness, these are very sore subjects for me so no thank you QC, but I will not be tuning in.
Anyway to close this out, congrats to the cast for doing a great job and whoever enjoyed the show, I'm glad you did! Those who read this and agree with me, just know you aren't alone in your critiques of the show. As long as you're being respectful and mindful of the language used, your criticism and enjoyment of the show are both valid!
#Phew that was a long one#I don't have the mental energy to deal with discourse so I'm not gonna tag the show#The Viscountess Answers
She really puts the “blue” in “blooey,” doesn’t she?
I’ve made you wait for quite a while, so I thought I’d skip the guest hosting, GIFs, Double-GIFs, etc. this time around and finally share the long-awaited “big reveal” number 56! Let’s cut to the chase (no pun intended), shall we?
Politics are a messy business even in the Paper Mushroom Kingdom, apparently. 😄
So, for those not familiar with Paper Mario, it’s a turn-based RPG series (Super Paper Mario being one exception) that, like several other video game series, allows you to do some questionable things, including but not limited to the ones described by Princess Peach in this comic. One game in particular even lets Mario attack the woman herself.
Oddly enough, though, she seems to be the only one who cares about it. 😆
While I know Mario’s not the type to hurt innocent people, I couldn’t help but wonder what would happen if this sort of thing was canon to the story. If it was, it would make Mario the sort of person who can and will save the day when the situation calls for it, but who also has a habit of getting on people’s nerves (in other words, a bit of an antihero).
While we’re on the subject, those of you who are gamers can probably name a few other examples of this in other game series -- Mario jumping on piantas’ heads in Super Mario Sunshine, Link picking up pots and breaking them in the Legend of Zelda series, Fox shooting/crashing into his allies in the Star Fox series, and so on. There are even some Legend of Zelda games that will punish you for taking it too far (ex. The Wind Waker, Spirit Tracks, etc.). But since the Paper Mario series seems to mostly let Mario’s shenanigans slide, I decided to see how his fellow papery people would react if they took them seriously. Quite a bit different, isn’t it? And hilarious, of course. 😏
So, a couple of things I hope you didn’t notice about the comic -- first, it’s apparently been a while since I used the “flesh” colored pencil, which is why Peach seems a bit paler in the second two panels than in the first two. I attempted to fix that with GIMP, but it became too much of a hassle in the end, so I decided to leave it as is. On the other hand, it kind of makes sense for her to look redder in the second panel, doesn’t it? 😄
I also kind of messed up Peach’s glove on the righthand side of the final panel. I forgot that it’s supposed to get thinner as it moves toward her hand somehow. 🤷♂️ But given how many details there were in each panel, I’m actually pretty glad that those are the only noticeable errors! I mean, I guess the shape of the railing could be a little more consistent, but...eh, close enough.
I’ve been learning to say those two words a lot while drawing lately, by the way. It’s a big help for someone as persnickety as me. 😅
Interestingly enough, the Princess was made after a very recent version of her...
...while the room she’s in, the chair she’s sitting in, and the book she’s reading were based on a couple of screenshots from the very first Paper Mario game:
It turns out that even Nintendo 64 games include a lot of details you don’t notice until you try to draw them. Copying the orange and yellow swirls of one column, the vertical stripes of two others, the fancy blue banner, the railing posts, the table and potted plant, and the sky-themed wall design was a challenge, but it made for good practice, as well as making it that much more rewarding to get to the more enjoyable parts -- namely, Peach’s shiny crown and hair, her beautiful outfit, and her hilarious faces and gestures. 😊
I also never realized how hard phone cords are to draw before now, but making a convincing spiral shape was another good challenge. I started out by drawing a line that curved the way I wanted the cord to, then drawing the cord around it, and...it looks like it worked out okay. 🙂
And with that, have a blessed day, everyone! And make sure to keep your nose (and mustache, if applicable) clean!
#the legend of zelda#hyrule warriors: age of calamity#impa#paper mario#princess peach#pencil art#colored pencil art#is it redundant that i drew this on paper?
' I've seen the video from I think December where she talked about shipping them since 2x02...I've seen some people say she said DE and SC were meant to be endgame too'
You can check out the panel video(epic cons) on youtube.It has plec ,Margaritte (sorry don't know the exact spelling), and Carina.She said I think twice about DE that it was never intended to go as long as it did but fan reactions made them.She referred at KC being the same.You might want to check out the other panel of paul,carina,Margaritte,julie,chris,Arielle and MD for something that you'd find interesting since you brought it up in your reply to a previous ask of mine.
-Anon with a KC friend👋😂
Ah thank you! For some stupid reason I never thought to do that! Okay I am watching the panel you told me to watch and I had to pause because I know what you're talking about now JULIE FOUND OUT WHO THE LEAKER WAS!!! Also I am so glad Julie called out those two blogs as just being nasty spiteful people, I am very aware of the two blogs who did it and all they wanted to do was cause misery for everyone because KC wasn't happening. I took so much satisfaction when TO ended and they had to fess up a few days before the finale because others had leaked that Klaus was dying and they knew for months and baited their fandom into following bullshit foilers until they couldn't anymore. I truly hope Julie's revenge involves them too somehow because they seem like terrible people, to the point Phoebe called one of them out by name because they were constantly so unkind to her.
Also interesting Paul said he directed an episode on some show and hated it and Arielle was like oh yeah I heard all that drama today and now I think he's talking about Batwoman and biotch Dries! Someone mentioned this on a post I made recently and now I'm like oh yeah it was that.
entry #47
summary: eve and calvin finally meet
eve had always loved calvin from the moment she laid eyes on him during her first live tnt game. she knew about his family, his baby khalel, and his wife who just come out as a lesbian.
what luck when he befriended her after scrolling through social media and liking all his posts on instagram.
they were always just communicating online. calvin would often invite her to games but she would have to decline for different reasons.
“i’m beginning to think you just don’t want to see me play,” he said once during a video call.
“that’s no true!” eve said in defense. “i really can’t due to—”
he chuckled. “i’m kidding, i’m kidding. but promise me that if we make to the semi-finals, you’re watching at least one game.”
“as long as you’re not up against san miguel.”
calvin scoffed. “fine, if we’re not up against san miguel.”
she nodded. “i will, i promise.”
tnt did reach the semi-finals. they were up against barangay ginebra. eve feared for their lives as they knew ginebra wanted a great comeback after losing the championships for a few cups. but tnt won the first two games and even had to make sure she would watch the third.
“please come,” calvin pleaded. “i really want to see you.”
she smiled. “i will. i really want to see you, too. and i want to see you guys win.”
the day of the game arrived and calvin surprised eve by sending her vip tickets. of course she brought sage along. “i’ll see you soon,” the cute stationery inside the envelope read.
they entered the mall of asia arena and they were immediately led to their seats. eve did not know which seats they were positioned in until they found themselves behind the tnt bench.
the players began to arrive and eve clutched her seat as she watched each basketball stars come out of the locker room. a few seconds later, she saw him. there he was.
she couldn’t look away, her eyes were glued on him. she didn’t even notice calvin smiling until sage nudged her. she looked away slowly, embarrassed.
“c’mon, you’ve been waiting for this moment,” sage whispered.
eve nodded and looked up again as calvin leaned on the railings. “hi,” he greeted. even eve could tell he was nervous, too. “i’m so glad you came.”
“i’m really glad, too,” she responded. “this is sage.”
he nodded. “i’ve heard a lot about you.”
sage smiled. “i know.”
calvin returned to eve. “i can’t stay long but um…” he reached into the pocket of his hoodie and brought out a small piece of paper. “could you read this when the last two minutes is announced.”
she nodded and reached out for the paper. “sure. can you give me a clue as to what’s inside?”
he opened his mouth then closed it. “i’d rather hear what you have to say in the most…natural voice ever.”
sage giggled. “i’ll make sure she doesn’t even take a peek.”
calvin thanked her and leaned closer. “i have to tell you something,” he whispered.
eve leaned in closer and tilted her head a little for her ear to be closer to him. “yeah?”
but to her surprise, instead of saying something, he kissed her cheek. it was a quick one but she surely turned beet red.
“for good luck,” he said as he walked away.
eve could feel her heart beating fast, maybe even too fast. what was written on that piece of paper?
“last two minutes!”
sage nudged eve. calvin was still playing and she couldn’t take her eyes off of him. her friend had to nudge her again. eve looked at her and nodded. “oh, right.”
‘i’ve fallen for someone,
you want to know who it is?
this is cheesy but i thought i should give it a shot,
the one i love is…
(see first word of second line)
that’s right
i love you,
i’m going to make sure i give the winning shot, once the ball is with me as the seconds dwindle down, please shout your answer to the question below,
do you love me, too?’
eve looked up and saw that the clock was down to fifteen seconds. how did time go so fast?
she saw calvin fighting for the ball from a christian stanhardinger. she stood up, ran to the panel table and grabbed the mic. “i love you, too, calvin oftana.”
and without much effort anymore, calvin swiped the ball from the bulldozer and sprinted to their basket. as the seconds closed in, he jumped and dunked, and tnt won by one point.
the tnt crowd cheered and the players and staff of tnt all tried to grab a shot at calvin but he was too quick. he was next to eve without her even noticing.
she never realized how much taller he was than her. without saying a word, he leaned down and kissed her.
“congratulations,” she said.
“thank you for reciprocating my feelings.”
“that’s so formal.”
“i love you, eve.”
“i love you, too, calvin.”
Answering some asks
Hey, your panel was amazing!!!!! Super cool to see everything you’ve been working on and posting on here all put together in a slideshow presentation like that. I don’t have a Twitch account so I couldn’t ask questions in the chat or anything, but I just wanted to let you know that I’m fascinated by your analysis.
Thank you!
My condolences for how your presentation ended up. Was an interesting watch and I hope you will release the footage in the future.
I will; mods have asked that I clean up a bit though, so it will be a bit. I am not good at video editing
i greatly appreciated your frank, forthright, academic discussion unveiling a variety of euphemism and imagery in homestuck and i very much hope that it will be archived because it was such a succinct and yet expansive elucidation; i very much felt like i was in a university lecture hall again, thank you for the experience
Thank you very much; I'm glad you found it enriching
Is there really any much of a point to digging into every each way that homestuck is bad (racist,lgbtphobic,etc) when you can easily fall on the same conclusion from a surface level analysis of HS and Hussie's previous works
I think there's a point. Perhaps several points. Many particular incidences of bigotry are easy to miss, obscured as they are, and finding them has altered my impression of what Homestuck is -- and understanding the story is more or less my goal here. I'm also not persuaded that Hussie is a bigot; I perceive Homestuck as a mockery of bigotry, that considers recognition and critique the narratives at play as part of the reading experience. So that even if the story ends up hated, it's done its job in some capacity...
Or something like that. I don’t know. I don't think Hussie officiated the wedding of Shelby and Danny Cragg ironically.
language analysis was the best part of your panel. speaks to me as someone who analyzes language choices obsessively in everything i read, and who sometimes gets in trouble for 'reaching too deep' into these studies. it really made me think. have a good day
It really is some bizarre wordplay... You too have a good day too anon
may i please have a copy of your discussion? even if you decide not to put it up anywhere after the 'controversy' of people unprepared for an academic dissection/dissertation on racism, transphobia, antisemitism, (and the coding in plain sight thereof) i would love to have it in my archive as at the very least an artifact of meticulous scholasticism that does not shy away from difficult topics made by a person of whom and whose work i am a great fan
But like I said above, the Vod will go out eventually. I just gotta find a tutorial for changing the audio
It's not so much "people unprepared for controversy" as people who disagree on whether there's a context where a slur can be said in service of discussion. It's a dispute that should've been negotiated before the convention, but wasn't due to a miscommunication edit: not even miscommunication actually, I dug up my application email and found out I had straight up said I would self-censor. And then I forgot, somehow. I'm totally in the wrong here, negotiation-wise.
Just read through slurquest and-- wow. I will never look at Homestuck the same way again. A lot of things I thought were just lol random make a LOT more sense this way. And hell, even if they are, it's still a valid reading. I don't know whether this is a good thing, a bad thing, just a Thing or what. Hot damn, that is literary analysis at the next level. Deeply fascinating.
That's about all I could hope for. Glad some things clicked
