Guys, I am so sorry.... This post might just break Tumblr.... If you see my post and your Tumblr breaks, I apologize IMMENSELY! I have just written a Winter Moriarty X Reader that is 5,284 words..... Please forgive me..... 🙏 At the end, there is a part where Winter and the reader watch TV. I got that idea from @kawasemy I hope that I have been able to feed my fellow, starving, Winter simps. Again, please forgive me for everything and read the tags for more humor. Also, masterlist link in the beginning, cause it's too long to scroll....
Masterlist
Winter shoves her pale hands into her pockets and watches the sky, as the heavens shed their tears on the city of London. She was never fond of the constant rainy weather, but it's where she's lived her entire life, so all she can do is accept the gloomy weather. At least, it was gloomy until she met a certain someone.
Winter exits the store she's in and runs towards a canopy in the park across the street. She watches her only friend jump in the puddles on the basketball court the rain created. Her laughter reaching Winter's cold ears, even from that distance.
"Y/n!"
Winter calls out to her friend and she waves with a bright smile on her face. Winter weakly waves back, but quickly returns her hand to her warmer pockets.
Y/n moved here for school, from a dry climate in America. They met in a cafe, when the clumsy girl tripped and dropped her books and computer on Winter, also spilling her coffee on her in the process. The coffee had also gotten all over Y/n's computer. Winter felt bad for what happened, and even though she doesn't make it a habit to help everyone who crosses her path, she offered to fix the girls computer. Y/n's outgoing personality had pushed the unwanted friendship onto her, but after sometime, Winter couldn't bother to avoid the strange girl. She finally accepted the friendship; the first one she's had since her younger sister died.
Winter calls out to her friend again and she comes running. She stands underneath the canopy with Winter and laughs from all the fun she was having.
"You've been out here forever, aren't you done?"
Winter slightly shivers as she shoves her hands deeper into her pockets.
"What? You're such a party pooper! Why don't you come join me? You'll have more fun."
Y/n pulls on Winter's arm.
"Hard pass. You know I'm not a fan of the rain."
"And yet, you're out here with me."
Winter goes quiet at her comment and looks back out at the rain. She then speaks up to divert from the topic.
"I can't believe you forgot your umbrella."
"Well, I didn't think it was going to rain." She replies.
"Y/n, it's London. It always rains here."
"Well, it's been sprinkling lately, so I didn't think it'd come down this hard..."
"Never trust the weather here." Winter advises.
She turns back to Y/n, wipes some wet hair off of her face and brushes it behind her ear.
"Did they look at your motorcycle?" Y/n asks, brushing the rest of her hair back with her fingers.
"Yeah, just some minor issues. I can pick it up tomorrow afternoon."
"That's good, it wasn't as bad as we thought."
Winter nods and shivers again.
"If we don't dry you off, you'll catch a cold." Winter says a little concerned.
"Nah, I'm sure I'll be fine!"
"What?" Winter smirks. "Cause 'idiots don't catch colds?'"
"What!? No!"
Y/n huffs and dramatically folds her arms across her chest. Winter chuckles at how naturally expressive she is. She's been surrounded for so long by people hiding their true feelings, it's refreshing seeing someone that's so easy to read.
"It's not that funny..." Y/n continues pouting.
Winter ignores her and grabs the back of her shoulders, pushing her towards the main road.
"Come on, let's get you something warm to drink."
Winter and Y/n walk alongside the sidewalk towards the cafe that's nearby. A truck drives by and Winter tries to shield Y/n from the large splash from the truck running over the puddle, but it drenched Winter and still got on Y/n.
"Oh my gosh, Winter! Are you ok?"
Winter sputters to try and get the muddy taste out of her mouth, but fails, and wipes the excess water from off her face with her hand.
"I'm fine. What about you?"
"I'm good, but most of the water got on you! Uhg, you're more soaked than I am! Man, what a jerk!" Y/n shouts, sounding annoyed.
Winter looks at her a little questioningly.
"It happens. Come on, let's head inside."
"Are they even gonna let us inside with how wet you are?"
"Yeah. It's normal to see people drenched walking into places to get dried off from the rain."
"I see."
The girls walk into the cafe and a hostess immediately runs up to them with two towels.
"I saw what happened through the window. Are you two alright?"
"Yeah." Winter replies, plainly.
She takes the towels and places one on her shoulders and the other on Y/n's head.
"Could we use your restroom to clean ourselves up?" Y/n asked the hostess.
"Of course! Follow me."
They followed the hostess to the restrooms meant for paying customers and unlocked the door for the drenched girls. They walk inside and Winter starts rubbing the towel over Y/n's head. She swats Winter's hand away and dries off her own hair.
"I'm fine, just take care of yourself."
Winter takes a step back and stares at Y/n out of the corner of her eye. She then goes to the sink and starts washing her mouth out from the dirt taste she had since earlier. Winter wipes her mouth on the towel around her shoulders and then slowly puts it over her head and starts drying off her hair. She glances at her friend again and sees the small pout on her face.
"Are you upset with me?" Winter asks quietly.
"What? Of course not! Why would you think that?"
"You're not you're usual happy self..."
"Oh... No, I'm upset with that truck driver... There's no way he didn't see us or the puddle! He should've slowed down! Driving through puddles like that can ruin your car and it gets people wet! It was so unnecessary and if I could, I'd definitely yell at him about it! I swear, some people are just so inconsiderate!"
"He really got you that upset?"
Winter looks a little surprised.
"Of course! Now there's a possibility of you getting sick! Oh, I swear, if you do, I'm going to hunt him down and give him a piece of my mind!"
Winter accidentally lets a chuckle escape her lips and she's shocked from her own reaction.
"What? I'm serious you know!"
"I know."
"Then why'd you laugh?"
"Well... I don't know myself... I guess, it's cause I'm seeing a new side of you. I don't think I've ever seen you get mad before. I almost thought you weren't capable of that kind of emotion."
"Huh? Well of course I get mad! That's a normal human reaction, so I wouldn't be a normal human otherwise."
"Oh, my bad! I didn't realize you were capable of being normal." Winter mocked.
"What? Hey! I can be normal!"
"I'd bet my life you can't be normal about anything."
"Now that's just mean!"
Y/n pouts and Winter chuckles again. She stares at Winter's face and sees black streaks running down her cheeks from her eyes.
"Oh dear, your makeup is running."
She grabs some toilet paper and wipes off the black streaks from Winter's cheeks. Winter stares into her eyes as she does so.
"I could've done that, you know."
"And I could've handled getting drenched, so we're even now."
Winter looks away and continues rubbing the towel over her head. She then frantically pulls out her wallet and phone from her pockets. The few bills and business cards she had in her wallet were far from saving and just made the wallet look like a mess. She puts her wallet on the sink and then tries turning on her phone, but it refuses to respond. Winter cusses underneath her breath.
"That bad?" Y/n asks.
"Well, I can't contact anyone, which isn't that big a deal, but I don't have access to money either."
"Oh... Yeah that's pretty bad."
"How's your phone?"
"Well, let's see."
She pulls out her phone, which has a heavy duty case on it, and tries turning it on.
"Oh yay! My phone works!"
"I bet the case is what saved it."
Y/n chuckles, a little embarrassed.
"Yeah, I tend to drop my phone often... I guess my clumsy nature helped us a little there?"
Winter smirks and shakes her head.
"Well we at least still have access to my money, if there's anything we need." Y/n says, hopeful.
"No, save your money. Use that for your school needs."
"But I want to help out, too."
"You don't have to worry about that."
"Ok, then have you figured out how we're going to get back to my apartment without using money? We came kinda far and it's too far to walk in the rain without an umbrella."
Winter goes silent and looks away. She takes off her leather jacket and hoodie and tosses them to the floor. She then starts pulling on her t-shirt that's sticking to her body and rings out some of the water. Y/n sighs and looks around the bathroom. She then grabs Winter's hand and leads her to the hand dryer.
"Come on, we can at least dry you off a little, while we come up with a plan."
Y/n turns on the hand dryer and it blows in Winter's face. She closes her eyes and winces from the sudden intensity. Winter takes the towel from off her head and shakes her head as the warm wind blows her hair dry. She then lifts up her shirt a little, showing her stomach and waist. Winter looks up and notices Y/n staring.
"Is there a problem?" Winter asks.
"Oh... No, it's nothing."
Y/n turns her head away and Winter notices her cheeks are slightly pinker than before. Winter pulls her friend closer to her as she looks surprised from the sudden notion.
"Dry yourself off with the hand dryer, too. I don't want you getting sick, either."
Y/n complies and starts to try and dry her clothes while they're still on. The feeling of her clothes slowly drying on her made them feel icky. She scrunches her nose from the feeling and feels awkward drying herself off with a small hand dryer and Winter standing closely next to her. She knows it was her idea, but didn't realize how awkward, or embarrassing, this situation would be. Lifting your arm up to dry your armpit, while someone you care about is standing so close to you, isn't the ideal situation...
"This isn't working. We'd be able to dry our clothes better if we took them off." Winter suggested, sounding a little annoyed.
She starts lifting her shirt even higher to take it off, but Y/n stops her.
"Wait, wait, wait!"
"What?"
"Well... I uh- I'm not exactly comfortable with that..."
"Oh..."
Winter put her shirt down, then picks both her jackets off the floor and starts ringing out the water in the sink.
"So? What should we do now?" Y/n asks.
"Well, this little hand dryer isn't going to be enough to dry us off. We're going to have to change into different clothes in order to get warmer."
"Well then, at least let me buy us some warm drinks as we come up with a plan."
Winter sighs and gives into the girls protests.
"Fine, but that's it! Nothing else."
"Deal."
Winter collects her things and they leave the bathroom and sit at one of the small tables next to the window. A waitress comes over and takes their orders. Y/n stares out the window as they sit in silence until their drinks come.
Once the waitress gives them their drinks, Y/n thanks her and drinks from her cup. Winter immediately puts her hands on her cup and keeps them there. Every so often, she sips from the mug.
"I swear, how does someone not bring an umbrella along when it's raining?" Winter mocks a second time.
"Hey! You don't have one, either!"
Winter sighs.
"Ok, that's fair."
"There's a hotel across the street there."
Y/n points out the building and Winter follows the direction she's pointing in.
"Why would we go to a hotel?"
"Well, we can shower, and they have a washing machine, and we can stay there until the weather lightens up. The forecast also says tomorrow won't have as much rain as today."
"And who's money are we going to use to stay there?"
Y/n goes silent and pouts again.
"I told you, you need to save your money for school. I'm sure the fees take up the majority of your allowance anyways."
"You don't know that." She says, still pouting.
"Ok, then how much do you usually have left after you've paid the fees?"
Y/n blows a bubble in her cheeks and pouts more.
"That's... None of your business."
"Which means it's not much."
She whines and turns her attention outside again as Winter shakes her head. After sometime, her friend starts chuckling.
"What's so funny?"
"No, sorry. I just realized, it's kind of like we're on a date and you're the guy who wants to pay for everything just to make a good impression."
Winter becomes flustered and rests her chin on her hand to hide her embarrassment and slightly pink cheeks. She looks out the window as she speaks quietly.
"O-oh, uh... Does it?"
Y/n sees through Winter's failed composure and continues chuckling.
"I'm sorry, maybe that was too much for me to say."
"No, you did nothing wrong."
Winter puts both her hands back on her cup and stares out the window, watching the rain fall as Y/n looks at her. She then turns her attention outside as well. After some time, Winter speaks up.
"If you let me pay you back, I'll let you use your money to at least pay for a taxi."
"Yes!"
Y/n's face brightens up.
"Let me use your phone to call a taxi." Winter says, putting her hand out.
"Why can't you use your phone?"
Winter's shoulders fall and she frowns at her friend.
"Oh right, I forgot."
Y/n pulls out her phone and gives it to Winter as she rolls her eyes and shakes her head, as she dials the number to order a taxi. After a few minutes of Winter talking on the phone and growing more annoyed, she scoffs and hangs up the phone.
"They're all gonna be busy for a while."
"Well should we wait until one is available? Or take the trains or bus?"
"Rather not be in a crowded place if I don't have to."
Winter replied, with her fist pushing into her cheek, and the way she spoke sounded silly. Y/n giggled and Winter paid her no mind.
"I remember you don't like crowds. If only your motorcycle could be ready in a few hours."
"We can't do anything about that. Why don't we just start walking? There's a small store around the corner from here. We can buy an umbrella there and dry off at your place."
"If you're ok with that."
"There's nothing else we can do and it won't be good if either of us get sick. Gotta do what we gotta do to get dried off as quickly as possible."
"Yeah, you got a point."
The two girls finish their drinks and Y/n goes up to the counter and pays. Winter holds both of her jackets and waits by the entrance. They walk out together and quickly head to the general store around the corner. Y/n grabs one umbrella, pays for it and then heads back to Winter, who's again waiting by the entrance.
"Give it to me."
Y/n gives the umbrella to Winter as they walk outside. She opens it up and holds it over both of their heads as they start walking towards her friends house.
"Why don't you let me walk on the outside of the road this time?"
"No, you stay on that side." Winter says, bluntly.
"But what if a car comes by and splashes you again?"
"I'm more aware of my surroundings, so I can move us out of the way faster if that happens."
"What about earlier? You didn't move out of the way then."
Winter sighs.
"I shielded you, didn't I?"
Y/n goes quiet and looks down at her feet as she walks. Winter notices her silence and mentally scolds herself for not being good at relaying exactly what she wants to say.
"Besides, I'd be more comfortable if I was the one next to the road." Winter continues.
"Alright fine. Guess I can't really say anything if that's the reason."
Winter pats her head and they continue walking down the street towards Y/n's apartment.
"What if you let me hold the umbrella?" Y/n ask after a minute of silence.
"No, I'll hold the umbrella."
"Well, I want to help with something, too."
"You've done enough."
Y/n huffs while Winter stares at her and sighs.
"You really want to do something more?"
"Obviously..."
"Here."
Winter hands her jackets over to her sulking friend.
"This helps me."
Y/n smiles a goofy grin and giggles contently as she holds Winter's jackets close to her. Winter looks away and scratches her cheek. Y/n looks up at her and swears she saw a light pink color dust Winter's cheeks, but it was too dark outside for her to tell. They walk in silence for a few minutes.
"So, what do you want to do once we get back to my place?" Y/n asks.
"I just want to get warm, I don't care about anything else."
Y/n hums in response.
"Are you gonna stay the night then?"
"No." Winter replies, furrowing her brow at her friend.
"How come?"
"I'm not going to intrude on you."
"But you won't be! Besides, how are you going to get home without your motorcycle?"
"I'll manage."
"What if I force you to stay?"
"Well, then I wouldn't have a choice now, would I?"
A wide grin is placed on Y/n's face and she hugs Winter's arm as they walk.
"Then I guess that's what I'm going to have to do! I'm forcing you to stay over!"
Y/n giggles with excitement and starts skipping.
"You're that happy to force me to stay over?"
"Of course! It means we get to hangout longer!"
Winter stares at Y/n.
"You're weird."
Y/n giggles again.
Winter looks out at the street, watches the cars drive by and the people traveling to their destinations. She sees the many different expressions and judges their thoughts accordingly. Some enjoy the rain, some aren't fond of the weather and some just accepts this as a part of their life. Winter remembers that she doesn't like the rain, but finds she doesn't mind the gloomy weather at this moment. She feels a shiver come on, but the feeling immediately goes away, and her body starts to warm up without the need to shiver.
She listens to her friend hum the chorus over and over from a popular song in London right now. It's a song Winter isn't fond of, but she finds herself fighting the urge to hum along to the stupid song. She hears splashing at her feet, along with the pitter patter of rain echoing all around her, and looks down. Y/n has continued to jump in each puddle they come across again today, but Winter pays her no mind. Her friend grips her arm, for support, as she jumps in ever puddle. Winter doesn't mind it when the water splashes up onto her shoes, or even the bottom of her pants. In fact, she finds it more comical, than anything.
"If you keep skipping like that, you're going to slip and fall."
"No I won't, cause you'll catch me!"
"Will I?"
"Mh hm!"
Winter stays silent and after a few seconds, she starts moving her body weight downwards. Y/n doesn't notice until she jumps in another puddle and her grip on Winter's arm becomes unstable, from her change in posture, causing her to slip. Y/n shrieks and Winter holds her up with her arm to keep her from falling to the ground. She smacks Winter's shoulder annoyed as she spots a small smile creep up on Winter's lips.
"You did that on purpose!" Y/n yells annoyed.
"Maybe that'll teach you to be more careful." Winter says, chuckling.
"You're so mean, betraying my trust like that!"
"Well, I never told you to trust me."
"I know, but I wanted to trust you."
"I don't know why."
"Well, obviously cause you're such a good person... Somewhere."
Winter chuckles again at the "somewhere" part.
Winter stops walking and pulls her friend back, before she walks out from underneath the umbrella.
"Where are you going?" Winter asks.
"Huh? What do you mean? Aren't we going to my apartment?"
"Yeah, it's right here."
"What?"
Y/n turns her head and sees they're standing right next to her apartment building.
"Oh, yeah, you're right! Wow, I thought we would have to walk further."
"Well, we have been walking for a while." Winter replied.
"Have we? I never noticed. I guess I was having so much fun with you, time had gone by much faster. Do you ever get that?"
Winter hesitates to speak, but decided to just say what's on her mind.
"Yeah. I wasn't expecting the walk to go by that quickly, either. I almost walked past your apartment building, too."
"You and I are just so silly, huh?" Y/n giggles.
"No, being with you just lowers my IQ."
"What!? You can't say that! That's so mean!"
Y/n hits Winter's shoulder again. She chuckles as she watches her friends reaction.
"Come on, let's head inside and dry off. I'm so done with being cold and wet."
"Ok, let's go!"
Y/n holds onto Winter's arm again and they walk to the front entrance. When they get to the door, Winter closes the umbrella and continues to walk up to her friends small apartment. When the girls walk in the entryway, Y/n shuts the door behind them. They both sigh loudly, in unison, and then look at each other chuckling.
"Why don't you take a shower first?" Y/n suggests.
"I can't do that. You go take the first one."
"I don't have the energy to argue with you. Give me your clothes to wash and hop in the shower, right now." Y/n says sternly.
"O-ok." Winter says a little surprised.
She starts lifting her shirt up and Y/n stares at the curves in her sides and back. Winter's pale skin, how curvy she is, the placement of her veins and the thickness of her spine, Y/n takes a mental note of all of it. She even becomes jealous of the few droplets of water sliding down her back and disappearing in the fabric of her jeans. She wishes her fingers could feel Winter's skin, just like the rain that soaked her today.
Y/n realizes she's staring and the kind of thoughts she's having, so she immediately covers her eyes with her hands. She hears the sounds of Winter stripping down and the wet fabric pulling away from her skin. Y/n feels a tap on her arm, and while keeping her eyes closed, she holds out her arms and Winter lays her clothes over her arms.
"I'll get you a towel and a change of clothes as soon as I start the laundry." Y/n says.
"K."
She hears Winter's bare feet walk across the floor towards the bathroom. When Y/n hears the door shut, she opens her eyes and sighs. She then goes to her laundry room, shoves Winter's clothes into the washing machine and strips down to put her own clothes in as well. After starting the machine, she grabs two towels and wraps herself in one. She goes to her kitchen and fills her kettle with water and puts it on the stove. Then, goes to her room and grabs some comfy clothes for Winter before knocking on the bathroom door.
"Winter, I'm coming in!"
"That's fine."
Y/n walks in the bathroom.
"I'm putting a towel and some clean clothes here on the counter. I'm also boiling some water, so you can come and make a hot drink for yourself while I shower."
"Alright."
"Is there anything else you need?"
"I'm probably fine. I'm almost done in here."
"Ok, I'll give you privacy, then."
Y/n leaves the bathroom and starts collecting clothes for her to change into once she's finished with her shower. She sits on her bed as she waits for Winter to finish up. Winter exits the bathroom and heads towards the kitchen with a towel wrapped around her shoulders and Y/n goes in the bathroom to shower.
When Y/n gets out of the bathroom, she's dressed in comfy clothes and heads towards the kitchen and living room area. She spots the back of Winter's head, tilted slightly to the side. She makes herself some tea and heads to the couch.
As she comes around the corner, she starts laughing. She spots Winter, curled up on the far end of the couch, mouth slightly a gaped, bowl of cereal in her hands resting in between her knees and chest, and one of Y/n's thin blankets wrapped around her legs. Winter breathes in deeply and sits up straight, rubbing her eyes. She starts to continue eating.
"Did you fall asleep?" Y/n asks, still laughing.
She's never had the opportunity to see Winter in such a vulnerable state.
"No... At least... Not completely..." Winter says quietly.
Y/n sets her cup down on the coffee table and takes the damp towel from around Winter's shoulders and puts it in the laundry. She comes back and relaxes on the opposite side of the couch.
"Did you want to sleep?"
"No, I'm fine."
"You sure? I don't mind if you do. We had a long day, after all."
Winter takes a few bites of her cereal before answering.
"Maybe."
She finishes up her cereal and then puts the bowl on the coffee table in front of her. She motions Y/n to move closer to her. Instead, Y/n picks up the bowl and takes it to the sink. Winter starts to untangle herself from the blanket to try and get up.
"That's not what I meant for you to do. I was going to take care of it later."
"I know, just stay there. Now you don't have to worry about it later."
Winter leans back on the couch when she sees Y/n coming back.
"Where's your phone?" Y/n asks.
Winter pulls out her phone, that had fallen in-between her and the couch cushion, and shows it to Y/n. She dramatically snatches it from Winter's grasp and Winter looks surprised as she watches her friend walk back to the kitchen.
"What are you-"
Y/n pulls out a bowl and a bag of rice. She then takes Winter's phone out of its case and places it in a bowl. She pours the rice over the phone, making sure it's completely surrounded by rice.
"And now we wait."
"Are you performing some kind of voodoo over there?"
"Um... No? Putting your phone in rice can actually get the water out and fix your phone. At least, it's supposed to do that. Doesn't always work, though."
"You don't have to do that. I can always get a new phone."
"But then you'll lose the silly messages I've sent you! I know if it was me, I'd be sad if that happened. This way, we can say we did all we could to fix your phone."
Y/n goes back over to the couch, picks up her and Winter's cup of tea, which was also on the coffee table, and brings the two cups with her as she sits next to Winter. She gives Winter her cup and Winter moved the blanket so it's covering Y/n as well.
"You don't have to do things for me. I'm capable of doing them myself." Winter says, a little irritated.
"Oh, don't be like that. You always help me out, so I wanna help you, too. Besides, if I didn't try to help fix your phone, I'd feel somewhat responsible that it broke."
Winter purses her lips together and then takes a sip of her tea.
"Thanks." She says quietly.
Y/n smiles wide. Winter then picks up the TV remote next to her and tosses it into Y/n's lap.
"Why don't you turn on that show you like?"
Y/n thinks for a bit.
"The baking one?"
"Yeah."
"Well, why don't we watch what you want to watch?"
"Cause I don't care. Just turn it on."
"Ok, ok." Y/n chuckles.
She turns on the TV and starts playing The Great British Bake Off.
"These people are so stupid."
Y/n laughs at Winter's comment.
"That's why I like it."
"Oh, that's right, they're your people."
Y/n looks at Winter confused.
"But I'm American?"
"No, it's cause you're not the smartest person."
"Wha-! You are so mean to me, and for what?"
"Are you saying you're smarter than these people?"
"Obviously."
Winter looks at Y/n questioningly and sips from her mug.
"You think these people are smart enough to stick a wet phone in rice to fix it?"
Winter starts laughing as she sips from her mug and almost chokes on her tea.
"Please, do not die on me, I would literally cry."
"You don't want a crime scene here?"
"No! I do not!"
Winter giggles and buries her forehead into Y/n's shoulder.
"What in the world is wrong with you?" Y/n laughs.
"I don't know. I never stay awake when I'm this tired!"
"Then sleep! I literally do not mind!"
"No."
Winter starts giggling again.
"Oh my gosh."
Y/n shakes her head.
"Uhg! Why am I like this!?" Winter leans her head back and whines.
"I like this side of you. It's fun watching you act in a way you usually don't."
Winter buries her face into Y/n's lap and groans. Y/n giggles and runs her fingers through Winter's hair.
"That's nice."
"You like it when I run my fingers through your hair?"
"Mmh."
Winter reaches over and puts her cup on the coffee table and then points at it.
"Stay."
Winter then rolls over and points up at Y/n as she giggles.
"Ok, I'll make sure the cup stays." Y/n says as if she's talking to a child.
Winter's arm falls onto Y/n's lap, next to her head and then positions her legs so they're hanging over the side of the couch. Y/n fixes the blanket so it covers Winter and continues playing with her hair.
Winter stares into Y/n's face curiously.
"It's a shame that you don't know how pretty you are..."
Y/n immediately stops playing with Winter's hair and feels her cheeks heat up. She watches as Winter starts to relax down and her eyes fight to stay open. Y/n recomposes herself and turns off the TV, then continues to play with Winter's hair to help her fall asleep. Her breathing slows and her finger wraps around the hem of Y/n's shirt. She smiles and watches Winter for a while, before she starts falling asleep herself. One hand entangled in Winter's hair, other hand resting on the cup at her side. She couldn't have asked for a better day.
Later, Winter wakes up and crouches on the bathroom floor, cursing herself for acting the way she did before she fell asleep. She decided to pretend as if she never acted all 'cute' like that and swears to force herself to never act that way again for as long as she lives. She'll never speak a word of that moment to anyone and hopes Y/n will forget all about it. Although, Y/n will probably only want to talk about that one moment as soon as she wakes up....

This is my humble take…
Joe Alwyn was Taylor’s best boyfriend. She knows this and her fans know this. But he demands actual work and accountability. Taylor is a white rich conservative girl first and foremost. And she’s very narcissist. Joe is the first boyfriend of hers to put actually limits on how her public personal affects him and their relationship. And she liked dating him at first because he was private and reserved and she was desperately trying to scape the industry and she found the most non-industry British man ever. She liked that security and knowing he didn’t attract that much attention. Then, she slowly gained her reputation back on track and realized that she could finally go back to being the person that plays for the media again. And yes, maybe her relationship with Joe was slowly fading — it happens a lot. But she clearly says in her lyrics that wanting to be shown off in public is one of the reasons too. Because she likes that every relationship she’s in gets consumed by her fans and the media.
And Joe Alwyn required her to go and do some work on herself! He comes from a very activist family. He was the one that made her be more open about social activism. It was because of him that she tried to do the bare minimum like encouraging during elections, have more racially diverse people on her music videos and tours, and do a very cringey job at supporting lgbt rights. But it was at least something…
Isn’t funny that the moment they broke up she went back to being very problematic? The climate terrorist that she’s been for the pass year and then wanting to sue people for spreading her private flights information (knowing this is public information). Then dating that racist man that mocked woman of color and admitted to watch what he did, being quiet about the war that’s going on, and the lame and immature issue she created over some of Olivia Rodrigo’s songs (a literal new artist and teenager at the time) to the point she cut total ties with her and her next man being a very typical conservative macho man that seems to love the attention just like her. She’s back at being who she’s always been…
“Your integrity makes me feel small” Yes, Taylor, indeed. I am glad you know this too.
oh you absolutely have said it all. this is extremely well said and on point.
i find it so odd that most swifties can't pinpoint that the real issue between joe and taylor was taylor once again giving into the industry and being a rich white capitalist which is something joe is not and does not want to be, and most likely caused the demise of their relationship. taylor herself has said this in her songs (like the lyrics in peace, as you said). so yeah, maybe she wanted marriage but joe probably wasn't comfortable marrying someone who had completely different morals than him which is his right. let's be real here.
and oh the relationship between her and travis probably set her "redemption arc" far back than ever. she really was finally speaking up on so many matters and now she's dating a problematic trump supporter, giving into the media frenzy with the NFL, and has done no activism despite having the biggest platform. i think what sucked the most was her being times person of the year and using it to talk about travis and how she wasted 6 years of her life being private. so disappointing. and the cherry on top are some of the lyrics from ttpd (ex. 1830s racism lyric) like WHAT?
another thing swifties misinterpret is that no one would've known joe if it wasn't for taylor and that he's living off of his songwriting credits from folklore/evermore. joe who is notoriously low-key and has stated he just wants to be seen as human never used taylor for clout and has avoided saying her name in interviews, even after the break-up. not because he didn't love her, but because he did not want to feed into the media frenzy. and if all eyes are on him, he's using it to make a statement about palestine which is amazing. sure, you may not have known joe alwyn if it wasn't for taylor but he never used taylor's fame to make him more famous. and might i argue, it was taylor who despite releasing positive songs about him sometimes didn't defend him (like in the folklore sessions where jack antonoff was obviously being rude to him? or how she told her fans not to go after john mayor releasing speak now tv but didn't say anything for joe when her fans have been harassing him like crazy?)
on the other hand, we have travis kelce who has most definitely brought her up in every capacity like on his brothers podcast and let's be real, most of the swifties didn't know who travis was (i didn't!) unless they were football fans. we saw proof of that when NFL sales and viewership was significantly higher. so yes, travis is using her name for clout and feeding into the media frenzy. and then you have swifties saying he loves her and supports which yes, can be true, but you cannot deny that taylor and travis' relationship fed the media, fed the NFL, and diverted attention from more important issues like gaza. and while taylor and travis had their eyes on them, they didn't use it to do any good.
so yes, you are right. joe was taylor's best boyfriend.

HEYYYYY!! \(>0<)/
it's been a hot while since i've posted about sans again wahah.. BUT I'M NOT OUT OF THE FANDOM! that's not what's goin on here no siree!! (ㆁωㆁ) but i dunno, i kinda just wanna drop something here.. maybe some people would end up relating to it, but who knows!
when i started posting about sans here, i was in a seriously bad place. i'm not gonna disclose on it, but that's kind of how i got back into falling for the goofy skeleton man!!
this was probably my lowest point in life, and it severely affected the way i performed in school and just my overall health. it started off with a love for rottmnt (you'd see it if you scroll long enough), then i went through old fanfics that i used to read in the past- and gosh did i get the biggest wave of euphoria in my life.
i started reading through whatever fics i could find- and i've come across new ones... and cringe ones.. and i just kept reading and reading (up until really concerning hours at night). i ended up scrolling through the fanart, the self shipping, and all of that 2016 throwback jazz. i guess it all made me feel like i'm a cringey 10 year old again.
and that's how i ended up just drawing- well, selfship. it was comforting and i would draw aster and sans together whenever i felt like shit. it made me feel like i could just live a little longer to feel this happy about drawing some fictional characters. it was my coping mechanism
the longer i posted, the more i realized that there were people like me too! and it made me feel happy that you guys interacted with me and enjoyed my art <3 so i appreciate you all for sticking around ( ◜‿◝ )♡
but i have to say that, i was stuck in a daydream bubble that was really pulling me back from accepting my reality. i wanted to get better, to feel better without having to sacrifice so much of my life outside of undertale. so.. that's what i did! that's what the lack of posts kind of was- and i'm really sorry for popping up and disappearing like that!
i'm glad to say that i'm doing much better than i was before! so yay, happy times! 🎉 i'm currently in university, something I didn't think i'd be able to make it to.. but i'm here now!
i do miss drawing sans, and i do miss interacting with all of you :')
i loved and still love aster and sans- in fact, i still draw them!but i also have other interests too! (ahem.. cod and my ocs..)
i think that's all i wanted to say for now... if you guys even read this- thank you! :3
and if you've been feeling similar to how i felt in the past, i want you to know that it gets better and it will get better <3

"You're all mine."
You haven't seen James since that night, well you haven't seen him at all, actually. When the power came back on James walked out the door and you were too scared to turn around and see what he looked like. So, his appearance is still a mystery but he hasn't been back to talk to you for three weeks, he hasn't even left you a note and the feeling of being watched is less prominent. Maybe he's finally stopped stalking you and found someone else to torment. That night still plays heavy on your mind, the hug, his words, the possessiveness that oozed from his voice. You thought he was going to come back, but wouldn't be have done so by now? Why wait? Whatever, you're just glad he's gone, no more creepy notes to find, no reason to be scared of the shadows anymore. That's what you tell yourself, anyway, yet you keep finding yourself looking over your shoulder when in dark rooms, expecting him to be standing there watching you. But he never is.
The bad weather continued, there was a storm almost every night, luckily the power stayed on every time but that didn't stop you from being terrified. Would he come back if the power went out? Was he just biding his time? No, if he was he would've kept leaving you notes. He's gone.
Tonight's storm was particularly brutal. You finally felt safe enough to turn some of the lights off in your house, the lightning was illuminating all the dark corners your lamps didn't reach. This time you were in your bedroom, your phone fully charged, ready for if the power went out. But he wouldn't come back, James was gone. You had been camping out on your bed the past hour, still scared you might find him lurking in your home, but by now you really needed a drink. Desperately. So, you plucked up all your courage (which was not a lot), and opened your bedroom door to go to the kitchen, taking your phone with you.
When you got there you half expected to see a note on your counter, but nothing was there. No notes, no James. You poured yourself a glass of water, downed it in a few gulps, just to fill it up again and make your way back to your bedroom.
When you got there and saw what was on your bed you almost dropped the glass, you would have if you weren't holding it with both hands. A piece of lined paper, folded in half. You set the glass on your bedside table, just so you could stand there and panic without having to worry about dropping it. He's back. Or maybe he never left. He was in your bedroom. It barely took you two minutes to go to the kitchen and come back and in that time he had put that note there. He's in your house. He's watching you. Has he been watching you this whole time? You thought he left. Fuck.
Finally, you settled on reading the note, though you approached it as if it were a snake about to bite you. The same messy handwriting was scribbled at the top, handwriting you hadn't seen in three weeks.
Please don't be scared. You know I'm watching you so there's no need to be scared. I'll keep you safe.
- Love, James
Right as you finished reading the room suddenly went pitch black. The power went out. And your phone... Is in the kitchen. You set it down on the counter to take a drink and never picked it up again. Wow, your survival instincts are terrible.
Just like last time, a few seconds later you heard his footsteps before you felt him. He was behind you, his hands on your hips. The left hand was cool, not quite cold but it didn't feel like blood was pumping through it. But his right hand was warm, meaning he wasn't outside recently. How long had he been in your house without you knowing about it? You didn't have time to think about it when he placed his head on your left shoulder, his right hand coming round to take the note from you.
"I can feel you shaking." He was talking just above a whisper like last time, not sounding like a stalker at all, breath fanning just below your ear. "There's no need, I'm right here."
He started slowly turning the both of you around, before gently pulling you back toward the bed. Again you froze, unable to do anything except lay down on the bed with him, his warm body spooning you from behind, again an action that was supposed to be comforting and was anything but.
"You thought I left you. I saw you. I guess it's kind of my fault for not speaking to you since that night, I should have left you something. I was planning on just giving you that note and leaving you alone tonight but then the power went out and I knew you'd be scared." It was him that scared you. But you have a feeling he wouldn't accept that fact very well. It didn't really seem like he wanted you to talk right now anyway, so you just kept quiet and stared into the darkness of the room, the occasional strike of lightning illuminating the furniture. James seemed content to ramble on whether you answered him or not.
"I hope you know I'm never gonna leave you. I'm honestly a little offended you ever thought I would. But I forgive you, I know I just haven't made myself clear enough." He paused for a second, and that was enough time for you to dread what he was going to say next.
"I said it before and I'll say it again. I'm not gonna lose you. I'm not gonna let anybody take you from me. You're all mine. And I'll keep saying it until you believe me. I promise."
You don't think you're ever going to be able to get rid of him. Not as long as he keeps that promise.

Hello hello!! I really love your writing and your art sm!! <33 I gotta say I'm all in for the romantic feels asks but platonic dynamics have a special place in my heart so- got any headcanons for the pirate au boys with a little sister medic/healer crewmate? Like the passive sweetie in the background that makes sure everyone's okay and her worry about everyone rivals that of edge yk? Ty! ^w^
RAHHH THANK U!!! I TRY MY BEST EVERY DAY!
Worried Medic Younger Sibling Y/N!:
Sans: Oh great, yet another sibling to spend sleepless nights worrying about... All jokes, Sans loves them to bits, and he is so incredibly grateful that they would go out of their way to fret over him and take care of him. He had just grown so used to hiding his weaknesses, for Pap's sake. But now, he finally had someone who took care of him like he does everyone else. Even if he's gonna crack cringey puns along the way. He'll let out a low chuckle every time they tell him to shut it. Papyrus: He's so touched! As much as he hates to make them worry, a part of him always cries when Y/N rushes up to him with a concerned expression and a medkit. Although Sans practically raised him, he could never feel good actually pouring all his concerns out to his stressed older brother. But his wonderful, amazing, talented sibling is the beam of sunshine he never knew he needed. Blue: NOOOOO NOT ANOTHER EDGE! Blue is sprinting the moment they approach him with a medkit. He always hated the doctor, and you are telling him that his beloved younger sibling is one of those apple-repelled freaks? With great effort, running, screaming, and other crewmates' help, Y/N will be patching up Blue with an iron grip on his skull. He'll whine, but he really is glad that they are willing to put up with his goofs. He will give you a big hug when he's all better and then jump straight into the fray like they didn't just spend 2 hours getting him fixed up.
Stretch: Literally the definition of the annoying older brother. Will come into the medical bay just to knock something off of the table and then turn off the lights, leaving Y/N in the dark. He'll say jokes and puns until someone shoves gauze in his mouth and will not stop bothering you. He has his moments and is a great shoulder to lean on when times are rough. And it's not like the teasing is one-sided! Y/N had seen their fair share of romance poems and songs that Stretch swore he had stashed away. Too bad Cash will do about anything for 3G.
Red: Annoying older brother #2 except he's the type to air punch you and profusely apologize if he accidentally hits you. He rolls his eyelights every time they scold him, sprinkling a few "Who are you, Edge?" and "Big words for such a short guy." He will be relentless when it comes to goofing off. One moment he's your partner in crime, another moment, he is giving you a noogie for being in his business.
Edge: It's like a nagging cycle. Y/N will fret over Edge triggering him to start analyzing you, and then it's just Y/N's sweet concern and Edge's masked care repeated into infinity. Of course, he can't help but cherish the feeling of being so looked after. Even if he feels like it is his duty to look after his younger sibling. He will give them a rare smile, just glad that they love him enough to try, even if he was as stubborn as a mule.
Razz: He's already covering his earholes the moment Y/N enters his navigation status chamber of a room. He groans and grumbles while they place some much-needed food on his desk, blocking his view of his book. But of course, he will never actually yell or rage at his kind younger sibling, although that was the only thing he knew best. He won't say a thank you, but just know that he is so giddy that his sibling is being so thoughtful. You can tell from the warm breeze and the pretty clouds.
Cash: Steals. Everything. He thinks it is the FUNNIEST thing in the world to bother the soul out of his siblings, and his poor younger sibling Y/N. So sweet, so kind, so... EASY TO STEAL FROM! The food they were saving for later? Gone. The little candy jar that they use to give to the crew after checkups? Vanished. Y/N's favorite jacket that doesn't even fit him? Wow, he actually looks really good in it- NO HE'S STRETCHING THE FABRIC. He thinks it's so incredibly rejuvenating when Y/N chases him around. Of course, doesn't last long cause that smoker is already heaving for breath. Bear: Being a sibling is the only way that Bear will not feel nervous about touching Y/N. Of course, he will make sure not to pat to hard or shake them around, but he will be more willing to throw Y/N around if he thinks that they are in danger. He will protect just as fiercely as Y/N would, and he is just so happy to be surrounded by that familial warmth he was never allowed to enjoy. Expect big thank-you meals every time he gets patched up. Cinnamon: He knows that Y/N worries for him sometimes, and he can't help but feel guilty. There are so many things that are wrong with him, and it seems like they visit him every day when he has yet another issue with his eyes or teeth. But every time he is reassured. Perhaps that is why he finds his sibling so wonderful. Because no matter how terrible he feels Y/N will always patch him up and give him a big hug. Having such a caring younger sibling had inspired him to be the best big bro!

You said that part of the fun of old fandom was making backstories for the characters. did you have one for Leon? what was it?
oh boy. this feels so... self-indulgent and cringey now in modern-day fandom, after having dedicated so much time to arguing what is or isn't canon and having to explain multiple times, at great lengths, that the mafia backstory is not canon and why it's not. my brain is just like "shut up and just be glad that people are starting to listen to you at all."
I've mentioned a few of them here and there sporadically over the past few months, so some of these are going to sound very familiar to people who have been following me for a while, but
this is basically the backstory I've come up with for Leon and have been using for mmmm around 20 years, give or take (though I tweaked some slight things to account for Remake Leon, which I'll also note):
● grew up in a suburb around the Hartford, CT area
● only child
● very religious/uptight Catholic mom, dad was basically Mike Cosgrove from Freakazoid
● like seriously, the personalities of his parents couldn't be more different, to the point where it almost doesn't make sense to anyone on the outside looking in how they ended up together at all. but his mom really loves how stable and grounded her husband is and appreciates his really awful sense of humor, and dad fell in love with his wife's cooking and the way she actually laughs at his jokes and the fact that she really believes in something greater than herself -- because he doesn't, and he wishes he did. they also share a taste in music, surprisingly.
● "Scott" is a family name, but Leon's dad was already "the third" and he was like "you really wanna put this kid through being 'the fourth'? that's stupid. just make it his middle name." Leon has never told a single person in his adult life this, but his parents and his very early childhood friends (up until about middle school) actually called him "Scottie" -- because "Scott" was his dad. (yes this headcanon was born directly from how funny I find the whole "Mr. Scott Kennedy" shit in OG RE4 and I'm not sorry) mom's name is Carol.
● mom was a middle school geography teacher (and CCD teacher). dad was a cop (he was bASICALLY COSGROVE)
● was always closer with his dad than his mom, despite the fact that his mom very clearly and very desperately wanted him to be a mama's boy. it wouldn't be quite correct to say that his mom was emotionally abusive, but she definitely didn't Get Him and very rarely actually listened to what he had to say -- she had a pre-constructed image in her head of the kind of person she wanted him to be, and anything that didn't fit that image was either questioned or ignored outright. (NOTE FOR REMAKE-VERSE LEON: this was even worse for Remake Leon, who has a lot more self-awareness than his OG counterpart and started to suspect that he may not be fully straight pretty early in life, even if his conservative upbringing didn't give him the language to express what, exactly, he was feeling. he had a crush on a boy once, vaguely mentioned it in a very roundabout way to his mom, and then spent the next like 10 years convinced he was going to hell. see here for a more in-depth explanation of how I view Leon's sexuality.) dad gave far less of a shit about who his kid was, so long as he wasn't doing dumb shit to get himself in trouble or arrested or something. as a result, Leon's really stupid sense of humor came from his dad, because they did spend a decent amount of time together. the two of them + Leon's uncle (dad's brother), who was maybe a little bit off his rocker, always went hunting once a year.
● was never super religious like his mom is, but still definitely believed. didn't pray regularly -- but prayed enough. he can pinpoint the exact moment that he lost his faith, though: when, while in Raccoon City, he first considered suicide -- and he realized that he was looking not to God for salvation, but to his gun. even as an adult, he won't outwardly classify himself as an atheist, but his general feelings towards God and faith are: "if God is up there, He's not listening anymore."
● wasn't ever super popular in school, but was never an outcast loser nerd, either. he was just kind of... there. he had his own little circle of skater kid/grungecore and metalhead friends, and they just kind of did their own thing.
● didn't actually start to get hot until senior year of high school and kind of thought that people were taking the piss when they started looking at him differently after he'd been so completely ignored as a dating/sexual prospect for so long. plus he had a girlfriend by then, and they'd been together for a while, so he didn't really think too hard about how other people were looking at him, anyway.
● he and his long-term high school girlfriend broke up before they both went off to college, mutually, just because they were going to different schools. (NOTE FOR REMAKE-VERSE LEON: OG Leon lost his virginity to that girlfriend at age 16; Remake Leon didn't. the Remake version of his girlfriend was too prudish to go all the way, but third base was a familiar friend.) this was to the great relief of the girlfriend's dad, who fucking hated Leon's guts and frequently told him that he would never marry his daughter (and once chased him out of the house with a shotgun, but that's a different story).
● played lacrosse in high school. didn't love it, mostly did it to put on college applications. actually wanted to play football, but his mom was adamant about not allowing him to (AND SHE WAS SUPER RIGHT HOLY SHIT DON'T LET YOUR KIDS PLAY AMERICAN FOOTBALL).
● dabbled in some arts stuff here and there in high school and college, but never in a serious way and never for any great length of time. he was more of a math nerd than anything else. but he spent like, half of a school year involved with the lit mag and, despite being a not terrible poet and short story author due to having an inherently romantic nature, dropped it pretty fast out of disinterest. tried being involved with the school paper, dropped that within a year due to disinterest. thought about picking up the guitar because some of his friends were musicians, but never committed to it. the only thing that ever stuck was an interest in film; he spent a decent amount of time in the A/V club and really enjoyed the editing process. probably would've majored in it in college if not for his far greater interest in criminal justice, so he just kept doing it on the side for fun. took some electives for it in college, at the very least, and worked on some student films. mostly horror films, which is ironic to him in hindsight.
● did not go into criminal justice because of his dad; it's just a coincidence that he ended up being interested in the same field that his dad worked. Leon has always had a problem with bullies and was that guy in high school who inserted himself into situations that didn't involve him, just to stand up for someone else. got in only a handful of fist fights as a result of this, and the extent of the scolding from his dad was "knock it off. quit screwin around. you screw around too much." in the most non-committal, "don't actually stop though" tone possible, followed by taking him to get burgers. his mom lost her mind any time he got sent home from school for fighting, though -- and the one time he actually ended up suspended was Literal Hell for that full week. but, either way -- for him, growing up with a very positive opinion of law enforcement to begin with, criminal justice seemed like a natural fit.
● beyond the few times he got in trouble for fighting (in fights he never started and always won), the worst trouble he ever got into was that time his mom found out that he and his friends snuck beer into a Green Day concert in 1994. that was also the first time she learned that her 17-year-old son was already drinking. he got grounded until graduation.
● overall was just a pretty good kid, though. constantly on honor roll. graduated college with a 3.7 GPA.
● mostly behaved in college, too, but he definitely went out and partied when he didn't have anything school-related to worry about. OG Leon partied way more frequently and way harder than Remake Leon did, though. OG Leon dragged his dick all over campus. Remake Leon had maybe a handful of drunken hookups (that still never actually got him laid) and spent most parties being that guy who was taking care of his much drunker friends. catch Remake Leon standing over one of his friends who has their face planted in the sand at a beach party like "hey man. you good? we can't leave yet. I gotta finish this beer." Remake Leon also made an excellent wingman.
● after getting hired at the RPD but before actually able to move out there (in late August, roughly), he did go out to Raccoon City to try to land an apartment so that he'd be ready once he actually did move. he filmed most of that week-long trip in a sort of self-documentary style and edited it all together with the intention of giving it to his parents before he left, in case they started to miss him -- so that they could see where he was and who he'd likely be hanging around with and all that stuff, because he is a Good Boy. he ultimately never finished the very last part of it because of the phone call he got to stay away from the city a week prior to his move, and he soon forgot he'd ever made something like that at all. his mom found it a few months later while cleaning up his room, which she did frequently as a grief response "so that it'll be ready for him when he comes home."
● to date, Leon's family and friends from back home think he died in Raccoon City. the CIA kept a tight leash on where he went and who he spoke to for the first four years of his captivity -- he basically didn't get freedom to live his own life until after Operation Javier. by the time he had the ability to call or visit home, he felt like it was too late -- that it'd be crueler to show up out of the blue after being "dead" for so long -- especially considering that he couldn't stay in their lives. he'd basically just be showing up to say "hey not dead" and then have to disappear again. so he just sort of... let it go. though, of all of the terrible things he's done in the time since then, this is the one thing that weighs heaviest on his conscience -- the one thing that he feels guiltiest about most often. but he continues to stay away, because he has nothing kind to say about the life he's lived or the man he's become. even if he were to go home now, he's convinced that his parents would not recognize their son.
● he doesn't know this, but there is an upright grave marker for him in a cemetery in his hometown dated 1977-1998. buried there is an empty casket with only a framed photo of him. his parents still lay flowers there twice a year: once on his birthday and once on the anniversary of Raccoon City's destruction.

General Leon backstory headcanons

A total of four WHOLE people (at least) read my fic!! I see this as a total win!! o(〃^▽^〃)o
So here I am with the next part!! ✧(。•̀ᴗ-)✧
Tumblr media
Kuroo x Reader
Chapter 3) Volleyball Practice :P
[Part 1] [Part 2]
Tumblr media
Y/ns P.o.v
In the morning, I still wasn't sure what to name my new cat, I kept thinking about it, but I wanted a cool name but not a cringey one. I made the kitten a bowl of food before heading out to meet Cheyenne and Casey. Unfortunately, when I opened my door, I was met with none other than Kuroo himself.. and Kenma so.. maybe, not none other than him... He looked like he was about to knock on the door.
"Oh hey! I was just about to knock." He said with a lazy smile on his face. I smiled at him.
"Yeah I can see that.." I looked around awkwardly.
"Well, we-" "You." "We were wondering if you wanted to walk with us?" Kuroo said with Kenma interrupting him, Kenma didn't really seem to open up to new people I guessed.
"Well... I usually go with Casey and Cheyenne.. soo..." I said awkwardly trying to hint that I didn't want to.
"Oh that's fine, they can come too." He said happily
I sighed and agreed, beginning to walk alongside them. When we made it to me, Cheyenne, and Casey's usual meet-up spot they looked a bit confused.
"Ooh, you brought your boyfriend," Casey said teasingly while poking my shoulder. I tsked.
"He's not my boyfriend.. I don't even like him." I said, already annoyed at her shenanigans.
"Yeah, right." She replied. I groaned. Will they ever let that go?
Soon we made it to school and we had to split to go to our classes and, unfortunately, I and Kuroo both had math so we had to walk down the math hall together. I kept quiet but it seemed like Kuroo had other plans.
"So, how do you like it here so far?" He asked seeming to genuinely care about my response.
"It's cool, I like the uniforms I guess," I replied. It was true, I never went to a school with such pretty uniforms.
"That's good, I'm glad you like it... you'll love being on the volleyball team. Everyone is so fun and nice. You'll fit right in!" He said happily.
I smiled and nodded, I may not like Kuroo that much but he's still pretty cool and I have no doubt that I'd enjoy being on the team and making friends with more people and getting to hang out with someone who isn't Casey or Cheyenne. I waved and told Kuroo goodbye as I approached my classroom. He waved back before continuing. As I entered my classroom, my smile fell, and I went to sit in my seat. I hated math. Why was it my first period!?
~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•Timeskip ~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•
After school, me, Casey, and Cheyenne met up and walked to the gym together. We talked and joked for a bit as we walked, and when we entered, coach Nekomata looked.. happy? He had a sort of evil smile on his face... After i put on my team jacket, i walked up to him.
"Hey coach.. whats going on?" I asked him hesitantly.
"Oh, nothin sweet pea, we're just gonna have a practice match with someone in a few days." He responded.
'Totally not creepily vague.. oh well, we'll see in a few days, I guess..' I thought before I grabbed a volleyball cart and set it near the net while Casey and Cheyenne set it up. Soon, the boys came in and began stretching before they practiced.
I paid close attention to the boys and their forms, making sure to tell them if something they were doing is wrong. As I was watching them, Casey snuck up behind me.
"Hey, buddy!" She said, patting my shoulder. I jumped in surprise and turned to her.
"Jesus! Don't scare me like that!" I yelled at her.
She giggled "Sorry~ anyways, Kuroo needs someone to help him with his spikes, I figured you'd wanna help your boyfriend," she said.
"He's not my boyfriend," I said angrily. "But I'll help him, I guess.." I said reluctantly.
"Good! Because I already told him you would!" She said happily. I glared at her, and she ran off after saying she needed to help Yamamoto. I sighed before I made my way to Kuroo.
"Hey, Casey said you needed help with your spikes?" I said as I looked up at him.
"Oh yeah, thanks, I was gonna ask Casey but she said she had to help Yamamoto and that you'd be happy to help." He replied.
If I'm being honest, I was not happy to help. I kind of resented Kuroo, it wasn't because of him, it was because Casey and Cheyenne kept calling him my boyfriend or crush. He's pretty cool, but everytime I see him I just remember the annoying teasing. However, I did help Kuroo with his spikes.
After a bit, the boys split into two groups to play a game before we went home. On one team was Kuroo, Kenma, kai, yaku, and Fukunaga. On the other team were Yamamoto, Inuoka, Teshiro, Lev, and Shibiyama.
Me, Casey, and Cheyenne stood at the sidelines, Cheyenne was in charge of the scoreboard with me. Casey stood beside us, watching the game. The boys got into their positions and began to play.
~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•
Kuroos team was in the lead at first, but eventually, Yamamotos team won. Casey went over to congratulate them, which made Yamamoto very happy, and I went to cheer up Kuroo and his team with Cheyenne.
"Hey, you guys did great!" I said happily.
"Yeah! Especially you Kenma!" Cheyenne said sweetly.
Kenma nodded, looking fed up with her behavior. Cheyenne, however, did not seem to notice or mind.
"Thanks, I was going easy on them." Kuroo said. I assume he was trying to keep his ego intact. I smiled.
"Yeah, I'm sure you were." I said in a half joking way.
Casey came over and put an arm around my shoulders. "He shouldn't have went easy, we got the ace on our side~" Casey said smugly, happy that the team she was going for won.
I rolled my eyes. "Whatever Casey. What matters is that we all had fun and got some practice in." I said sweetly.
"Sounds like loser talk to me~" Casey teased before leaving and giving Yamamoto a high five.
I looked away and turned to Cheyenne. "Looks like she's already made a new best friend." I said as we looked at Casey and Yamamoto talking and laughing.
"I know, we're supposed to be her best friends! What a cheating whore." She said with an eye roll. I snickered and nodded.
"Yeah, or maybe she has a crush ~" I joked.
"Maybe, but it won't take the attention away from your crush on Kuroo" Cheyenne replied, i sighed and looked away.
'Damnit i thought that would've worked. People are already starting to assume stuff about me and Kuroo because of them!' I angrily thought.
Cheyenne giggled at my upset face. Before I could respond coach Nekomata called us over to him.
"Good work out there, gentlemen. I reckon it's about time y'all  get changed and head on home." He said. All the guys nodded and went to the club room to change while me, Casey, and Cheyenne left to the ladies changing area and changed back into our school uniforms.
"Oh guys! I've been thinking.. why don't we invite the guys to the festival with us?" I said excitedly.
"Oh yeah! That'll be so fun!" Cheyenne replied.
"Yeah, and it'll be good for team bonding!" Casey said.
We began to excitedly go over our plans for the festival while we walked out of the changing rooms. Then we encountered Kuroo, Kenma, and Yamamoto. Kuroo and Yamamoto gave us smiles.
"Hey, what are ya talking about?" Kuroo said as he rested his elbow on Kenmas head, who moved away from him and slapped his arm.
"We were talking about the festival, by the way, do you guys wanna come with us?" I asked.
"Yeah, we were thinking about asking the whole team." Cheyenne said.
"That sounds like fun. Kenma, we should go!" Kuroo said. Kenma shrugged and nodded, still playing him video game.
Yamamoto smiled and nodded aswell. "Yeah! I was planning on going with my little sister though, os ot okay if she comes too?" He said happily.
I nodded. "Yeah, of course!" I responded.
Yamamoto smiled and thanked me.
"I guess we should ask the others next time." I told Casey and Cheyenne, they nodded. I turned to the guys, who were still standing beside us. "Did you guys wanna walk with us home?" I said awkwardly.
"Oh, yeah. Thats why we came here." Kuroo said as if he just remembered.
"Well.. let's go then!" I said quickly before we began walking out.

That breakup scene is a hot mess and I’m both glad and sad we didn’t get a full version of it. However, I love how Anne had Armand be all tender and sweet (“I didn’t meant to leave you”, and the kisses 😭) while Daniel, almost completely lost in his madness further broke his heart into a million pieces.
YES! I agree. It has a lot of potential as outlined in her notes but also I'm not sure I would have wanted it that way in canon? I will say, it's always felt true to me that Armand feared Daniel leaving him and therefore it became a sort of self-fulfilling prophecy where Armand slowly shuts down and pushes Daniel away because he expects him to leave and Daniel is left flailing and confused because he doesn't know why Armand has gone cold.
In that respect, Anne's strange gender analogy makes sense. (Please understand, I do find it cringey in a very Anne way that is just... you know, Anne. This is also the woman who wrote that abortions make a woman's womb weak so...yeah. 😐 She was not a perfect person. And I personally have several friends who married people when they believed them to be men, only to afterward learn they were women, and they are closer than ever now that their partner can be themselves! Trans Rights, motherfucker. Terfs can all take a long walk off a short pier.)
But in terms of Daniel seeing Armand giving him the blood as a sort of marriage--they can be together for eternity now! They can go to the stars together!--and then Armand suddenly shutting down soon after, I can see Daniel interpreting that as him not measuring up and not being what Armand wanted. Armand loved him a mortal and now that he's a vampire, Armand is not reacting to him the same way. It had to be confusing as heck for him, not to mention utterly devastating.
That aside, it feels like from these notes Daniel is hurt that Armand tried to go into the sun in addition to anything that happened prior. (Reading it again, it seems that 'you left us!' is in fact referring to Armand's suicide attempt. 😭😭)
And like I said in my other post about this, I've wanted a scene with Armand and Daniel after Daniel went mad since B&G came out. Not to mention any acknowledgement that Daniel was aware of what happened, that Daniel was not off by himself the whole time, and that he had feelings about it. (His total absence, like his absence from BC2 is excruciating if only because it makes no sense for him to not be around anywhere, you know?)
This is the kind of confrontation we needed! Daniel being furious and Armand trying to be gentle with him, kissing him, wanting things to be better. 😭😭 There are seeds of such a good scene in these notes, and I'm sad we didn't get anything like that in the books at all, while I'm also aware that if we had, we may not have been happy with it. I think this sort of scene is good if it's resolved at some point, if we got to see them coming back together in a detailed, meaningful way, and I just don't know we would have. She could barely string a sentence about the two of them together in the final books, and while she did it, and clearly thought they would reconcile and reunite, she didn't seem to have much interest in that side of things.
ANYHOW I am sorry for turning this into such a long post, that single page of Anne's notes has had me spinning all day long. There's so much to unpack. I do love the tenderness Armand shows with Daniel when he's not well and if anyone ever writes a fic about that, please tag me, I will read it 200 times.

-Oop, almost forgot about today being the debut of the newest HB episode "Unhappy Campers" lol Lets talk about it!~ :>
Tumblr media
*Spoiler warning ahead for those who didn't see the ep yet-*
Soooo to start things off, lets get to the Positives!
*-M&M get to stand out more in the main A-story for a change, yay! 👏👏And even including a bit of drama for the couple to deal with as they started to clash over their roles in this "mystery"-solving; especially with Millie revealing to carry some insecurities over not feeling "appreciated" outside of a supportive role/killing-machine… poor girl :c Glad to see she was able to have her moment to shine on stage by the end while Moxxie "took care" of their suspect, the gal deserved that time to just let loose on her own, yknow? 🥺
*-The summer camp aesthetic was a fun change of scenery for the story here, and I liked the designs for characters like the blue demon client at the start, alongside Millie & Moxxie's human disguises ("Moxxine" & "Millard"), they were cute~ :3
*-While Blitz didn't play too big of a role here in the long run, his gentle coaxing to his sister Barbie Wire at the end to try and amend things was rather touching to see (not really seeming to mind her pronouncing the "O" in his name either, unlike with other characters)… even if ultimately tragic given her rejection at the end :(. I really hope we get more insight of their family background later, 'cause there's alot of story potential for Blitz to try and face the "shadows" of his past (outside of just general exes-drama), in a meaningful character building way imo 👍
*-Not quiiiite as strong on the humor aspect (which I'll get into in a sec-), but I'll admit there's still some good chuckle-worthy moments like the "kid-stuck-in-a-crater" gag, along with this one still-shot during the Blitz & Moxxie VS Barbie fight lol
Tumblr media
*-Nice to see a return of those Asmodean crystals, ever since their cameo in "The Circus" I've always been curious to see them in-action given their role as another portal-making item :o the crystalline-looking portals made from them look so pretty too~
As far as the Negatives of this ep are concerned? …Ehhhh-
*-As much as I enjoyed the M&M spotlight… I'd be lying if I said I didn't find the execution a bit… "clunky" at certain points ^^; Mainly on Moxxie's end 'cause… oof did he feel rather cringey at times, getting randomly hung up about some camp kids not liking him over Millie? :| Like… okay sure, its one thing to criticize her not prioritizing the "investigation" mystery as seriously as she should've… but I mean, you're basically doing the same thing trying to win over everyone as this ditzy teen girl, Moxx so like… who are you to talk? :/ Thankfully he got over that by the end and made things right by his wife but still… smh, dude >>
*-For a character as hyped up as Barbie Wire's been by the fandom since the pilot… I'm surprised that her first-ever reveal is only in the last few minutes of a B-plot? .-. Like… this is the long-lost sister of our main character, mind you, and her presence alone through that one photo in "Ozzie's" was enough to shake up Blitz to the core… so, why wasn't she given more of a major story to come back into her brother's life? 🤷‍♀️ I don't even mind that she's not interested in making amends with him atm (esp. with his stalkerish behavior here I can't really blame her tbh, as much as I love the guy- ^^;), but still…more additional context in-general could've helped make her debut a lil more interesting imo (same with Stella's brother Andrealphus).
*-Humor wise… ehhhhh yeah, some of it didn't really sit right with me tbh :/ Like, okay I get HB's always been a rather "raunchy" show since its inception, and I'm all for some clever adult humor when done right…
…But I mean, did we really need bits like M&M pretending to be "siblings" while disguised (when… idk why they couldn't have just pretended to be a regular teen couple tbh? .-.), only to then having that big "steamy" moment in front of a crowd of campers…? :| Idk, humor IS subjective at the end of the day so, I guess your mileage may vary on some of these joke executions… 🤷‍♀️
*-Pacing felt a bit imbalanced (again), with moments like the big ending fight scene feeling rather… "stiff", in some parts? : o Idk, probably could've benefitted from adding in a few more minutes or something to make it flow a lil better .3.
*-Fun as it was seeing Millie getting her own song for a change (that's not just another love duet with Moxxie)… idk, it admittedly wasn't the most memorable compared to some previous HB songs (minus the lil lyrics popping underneath like a cheesy music video, that was funny lol) 🤷‍♀️That and Moxxie's own "solo" attempt at the campfire scene was… again, cringey (though I think that was the point lol) :P.
-----
…Aaaaand yeah, that about covers my initial first impression thoughts of the ep! If I had to give my own rating again… prooobably somewhere around a C-rank? Again, I still enjoyed the M&M (+mainly Millie's) spotlight overall, but with the rushed-over Barbie Wire addition & some of the cringier humor bits… Iiii just don't know if I'd consider it among my fave eps anytime soon, imho ^^;

I'm so glad you're back! I was afraid something bad happened and I'm relieved to find out that it wasn't the case. A few months have passed since the release of TOTK, so the hype has went down and now I would like to read your opinion of the game. What are your favorite parts about it, what are the things you disliked and how would you rank this game with the rest of the 3D Zelda games?
Aw, thank you! Yeah, I'm sorry I post so infrequently. I'm hoping that will change once I start working on the Fortitude revision again. Finishing Forgotten has been such an uphill project for me. But I'll be so glad I didn't leave it unfinished.
My thoughts and opinions about TotK are below (emphasis on my opinions--I don't expect everyone to agree with me, and that's ok!).
Three things I enjoyed:
THE MUSIC. The soundtrack is amazing, especially the growing dynamics as you progress in certain areas. It has a psychological effect, and I found it really intense in the best way.
THE TEMPLES. I was very happy to see a return to more traditional Zelda dungeons. WAY more fun than the divine beasts, and I liked having the sages assist! Gave me TWW vibes.
Better NPCs and sidequests. Maybe it's just me, but it felt like the Zelda team put some extra love into creating the NPCs and all the quests that come with them. I've had more fun with them than I did in BotW - which had way too many simple fetch quests.
Three things that didn't do much for me:
The Zonai tech. It's fun to use, and I do appreciate how utterly amazing the development/coding is, especially considering the Switch's hardware limitations. However, I would be very tired of Ultrahand by now if not for the Autobuild ability, and even then my interest is mild at best. Also, it did not feel "Zelda-ish" to me. I don't think driving cars or shooting rockets belongs in a Zelda game. In fact I ignored the Zonai tech whenever possible. I would often walk instead of building a car, simply because it felt more "Zelda-ish" to do so.
Mediocre voice acting. I'm relieved to say Ganondorf was fairly good. The rest not so much. If Nintendo isn't willing to hire more expensive more esteemed VAs for a flagship franchise like Zelda, I'd rather they didn't do it at all.
Zelda's story. Don't get me wrong, I was very glad to see her play a stronger, amazingly brave and selfless character. The thing I'm not happy about is that she was once again separated from Link throughout the entire game. Is it really too much to ask that they work together side by side? *sigh*
Three things I strongly disliked: (warning: ranting ahead)
EMOTIONLESS LINK. I cannot express how much I hate this. Even if I put aside my love for Link as a character and my wish for him to express himself, I still think this blank-faced avatar approach is awful. It does not allow me to see myself as Link (which I believe was their intent) because I have feelings and he doesn't, seemingly. If anything, it had the opposite effect. I found It distracting and cringey and infuriating to watch Link react to everything with determination, confusion, or that stupid blank expression. There are some emotionally charged scenes in this game, and they fall very flat because of Link. At least, they did for me. UGH.
Non-linear storytelling. It's highly restrictive, disjointed, and the impact depends on the order in which players obtain certain cutscenes. Please, Nintendo, no more.
The Zonai. I'm not a fan of most furry character designs, and Rauru is particularly strange, so it was immediately off-putting to me. I also strongly dislike the idea of them founding Hyrule and being "like gods" to Hylians. It's all very vague, and I don't understand how any of it works with past Zelda lore, especially when Hylia is so important in BotW. It's like they scrapped everything sacred in Zelda lore (the golden goddesses, Hylia, etc.), and replaced it with the Zonai. Meh, I'll stick with the old lore, thanks.
Also, a furry being married to a Hylian is also very off-putting to me. I don't know how that works, I don't want to find out, and I have no interest in learning more about Rauru or Sonia. Their fates had zero emotional impact on me, so I didn't get much out of that part of the storyline.
I could go on, but I'll stop there.
As far as rankings, I would place TotK with BotW because they are very similar. Here's how I rank the 3D Zelda games:
OoT/MM
BotW/TotK
TWW
SS
TP
So yeah, didn't love it, didn't hate it. Like with BotW, I'm very frustrated by all the untapped potential. As an avid Zelinker, I see the entire arc of BotW and TotK as an epic story of love, loss, bravery, and sacrifice. Link and Zelda both mirror and complement each other in so many ways, and I love the creative potential in that.
I also love the limitless exploration in both games - it keeps me interested for hours. But when the next Zelda game is revealed, I'd like to see a new formula, preferably a more classic one.

Yeah Iñaki Godoy's performance as Luffy deserves a separate post because OH MY GOD
Tumblr media
(again - I'm a One Piece newbie so I have no idea how accurate he is to Luffy from the manga and anime, I'm just going off what I've seen here)
I thought Iñaki's performance was lightning-in-a-bottle awesome. He felt like a cartoon come to life but also kept Luffy grounded enough so that he didn't feel too cartoony. Sometimes actors act too cartoony that I can't really connect with the character (yeah one name comes to mind...) but that wasn't the case with Iñaki. The energy he brought to this role felt perfect. His excitement, optimism, naivety, and almost manic energy was contagious. I also buy that people would find him intimidating cos, well, he is a chaotic pirate king-in-training, haha!
And when he got serious- look when he screamed "OF COURSE I WILL" at the end of episode 7, my first thought was "...how the hell did this guy say that line like that without sounding like a total dumbass?" He had this unique intensity to all his scenes that felt over-the-top but not in a bad way, if you get what I mean?
I feel like this is a role that could just be cringey in the wrong way if the casting was off. But I thoroughly enjoyed Iñakis performance from start to finish. And I'm glad he got to play a character that he clearly loves so much.

Hey hoghtastic I just recently stumbled upon your blog after browsing through Alex's fan pages. I just recently finished vikings and I became interested in Alex as an actor and person, and I was curious what he was up to. I became curious about his new project "call me dad" since he took part in coming up with the concept and it would be a new starring role for him after vikings. I noticed that he was dating his co-star from the show and seeing their pictures together as a couple I was naturally happy for them since Alex seemed happy with her, and he was never in a relationship publicly as far as I know (correct me if I'm wrong). I became interested to know what other projects his girlfriend Johanne was in and I have to say that after doing some casual searching I immediately got a very unpleasant vibe from her, after watching an interview she did and certain expressions she made in some pictures my feelings became stronger. (I want to add that I'm not a stan or a rabid fangirl and I find it embarrassing and cringey when fangirls bash people linked to their celebrities, I'm also a hardcore feminist and body positivity supporter so I try to not judge or put down other women and I disliked seeing comments of people bashing her appearance). But anyway, at first I thought that maybe my first impression was not accurate since I didn't see anyone post anything negative about her until I came across your blog and another one (I forget their name), I am glad to know other people felt the same and got the same impression. I also want to add that I am currently studying psychology and I've been interested in learning about different personality types and disorders since I was young, particularly those who exhibit dark triad traits. (As a disclaimer I know that studying psych and being interested in human behaviour doesn't somehow make me an expert nor does it make me qualified to make an accurate assessment on someone's personality so this is purely speculation). with that being said, Johanne has given me haughty and domineering vibes from the very beginning. Through my own observation from studying body language coupled with her documented past behaviour, she appears to exhibit dark triad personality traits which consist of Machiavellian, Narcissistic, and Psychopathic subgroups and there is usually an overlap between these three. According to research done to identify employees with this personality trait(which I'll credit below) there are consistent behaviours documented to identify these individuals, one of them is being known to exaggerate and falsely take credit for contributions. to the organization; this fits with the post someone put about her falsely taking credit of someone's artwork and blocking them afterwards. Another common behaviour is "Actively promoting themselves', we can also see this through her instagram behaviour which you talked about below, another sign is 'Bullying or criticizing coworkers to distract focus away from tasks", this also fits with the several posts people left on DKgossip about her being a bully in school. I also want to add that the poster who accused her of bullying was deleted from reddit ( I would not be surprised if Johanne did the same thing she did when she blocked the fan on Pinterest and deleted their post afterwards) but there is still a post up where they said she was a known bully in two different schools, meaning that her bullying behaviour was a constant thing, from my experience people like that either get a big wakeup call and change but more often then not they just learn to hide their behaviour better, they will usually make excuses for their behaviour and try to do more good so you forgot about their bad behaviour, judging by her current demeanour this is. Another characteristic of an employee with dark triad personality is "treating valued members of the organization (trophy colleagues) better than those who don't boost their ego" and who do we know has been showing off Alex like a trophy and prize? (part 1)
oh and btw this is the link to where I found the information about signs of employees with dark triad traits https://journals.aom.org/doi/10.5465/amp.2017.0005.summary
Part 1 of 2.
(Thanks for the link and for sharing your thoughts! 😊 To answer your question, Alex’s other public relationship was with his now friend Rikke Westi, but it was a long time ago.)

I remember when I became an army (2020), I was obsessed with the group dynamics... like who's closest to who, how they met, first impressions..blah blah blah (Vmin, hopekook and Namgi were my faves..still are tbh). A lot of ppl on Twitter would say taekook is the closest and I was so confused...I started watching previous content and I still didn't see it...they always came off as awkward and weird...and around that time "In the Soop" came out and that only proved that I was right!! I was honestly convinced that they were only coworkers who acted like they were close....honestly, their interactions felt forced and cringey😂😂😂I thought the moment bts disbands we will never see any sort of interaction from those two.
In 2021/2022, that's when my views changed. They now seemed like close friends... brothers... with V always trying to embarrass(?) Jungkook. So I now believe that they are close friends...but boyfriends? I still don't see it...I sometimes feel that V/Jk are out to prove (not intentionally) to everyone that they are close friends since they constantly mention each other, always hang out ... but boyfriends?🧐 idk... sometimes😩....those suspicious interactions but I always brush it off since everyone in bts is very touchy I mean jimin bit Jk😂😂😂... I still find your blog interesting even though i don't see it😂😂😂.
Hello there... and welcome, I'm glad you enjoy my little part of tumblr.
We all see things in our way. Whilst I will push back on vitriolic comments and anon, those who express their views in measured way is always cool in my book. I also fully understand how you might come to the conclusion that Tae and JK are simply just really close friends, even if I disagree with that notion.
Anyway thanks for the lovely asks.

The opposite of love is indifference
The night did not go nearly like I imagined it would. originally I had planned to go to dinner by myself after a really weird day and night of minimal contact with C. I just wanted some down time to read and eat and not lay around and think about how badly I messed things up.
but i missed him, and I was afraid of another night by myself.
I ended up asking him to come, which, I'm not sure I would categorize as a mistake or not. We talked and dealt with some issues, but I also had a panic attack in public. At my favorite restauraunt.
How about I get into it instead of just rambling? because I've been putting off even thinking about the night, it was so cringey in every way, and I'm incredibly confused about like 90% of it..
Dinner started off great, even though for some stupid reason after all this time I'm still nervous every time I see him. After the conversation we had the day before about most of the issues that we had lately I felt a lot better, but apparently being content isn't something that I can just accept, because part of that night was still bothering me.
On our way to grab dinner we ended up talking about my last name, and C mentions that I must be glad to soon be rid of my married name. I explained that I was keeping it. I don't think it's something that he could understand even if I tried to explain it. I just need that link t my kids. Even though J isn't part of my family anymore, I've thought so much about it and as much as I would like to get rid of anything that has any kind of link to him, this is also the only thing that links me to my kids on paper. I could be petty and cut that tie to take myself even further away from him, but it feels like taking myself a little further from my kids too. Like saying "this name I gave you is garbage to me now, I'm out, but you're stuck with it." It feels like one single part where he would be closer to them than I am. I've been there for them every single day of their lives while he waltzed in and out when he felt like it, I was there for all of their moments, always, and it feels like giving up that name gives him something that he doesn't deserve. Its absolute insanity to me that I would have to ask his permission to add my last name to theirs. But this is the way it works.
In my head, this wasn't the issue. I brought it up because when he laughed and said that was dumb on that night, I made a joke about how if he didn't like it he could change my last name. His response was to laugh at me and say "I hope you don't think I'm going to propose to you".
Like..don't get me wrong, I can take a joke. It takes a lot to offend me. But..ouch..? Right in the pride, which I don't have a whole lot left of.
I probably could have let it roll right off.. but he's reacted like this before when I bring up anything future related. usually joking, because if anyone isn't ready t jump into anything, it's me. His reaction is always the same, like it's hysterical to even consider any kind of future with me.
Except that I've already had someone decide that a future with me wasn't worth anything. So when he laughs about it it makes me feel small and completely worthless. It's sometimes hard enough to believe that he doesn't think I'm weird and someone that he doesn't want to be around. I still find it hard to believe that he actually loves me, and my brain tells me daily that it's ridiculous to believe him. "He doesn't tell you that much, it must be bullshit." "He doesn't want you to meet his family, obviously he's embarrassed of you" "He doesn't want to see you, he just feels bad for you"
The problem that I had with how the conversation went wasn't what started it all though. It was his response to me bringing up wanting to keep my name.
"Yeah, that's really fucking weird to me"
Immediately backs off, arms crossed, won't look at me, I can see his jaw flexing.
Panic.
Because those are the things people do before they swing.
I tried to save things, i think.. I explained why it's important.
"You have your reasons, so whatever."
Panic x2
My brain is in overdrive because.. why? Why does that upset him? Why doesn't he want me to be close to my kids? I've worried so much about him and the kids, and worried that it was to early for him to meet them, worried that they're attached and will hurt even more than I will if it ends, worried that he doesn't like them, that they're too much. Why does he want me to break this little connection I have with them if its so important to me? I don't understand why he looks like he thinks I'm garbage.
He swears its not jealousy so I assume this is the explanation. He looks so angry that I can feel it. The waitress can feel it, the people around us are looking. I've stopped breathing and I don't know what I did wrong, but I do know that he's probably right about me being trash.
I cover my face to hide the fact that I'm gasping for air and can't get a breath, every muscle in my body is tense, my eyes are tearing and I'm watching his hands because they're in fists, but I don't think he would get that, I don't think he knew. I hope he didn't.
We kept talking and he thinks it is jealousy. He brings up the wedding photo on my laptop. He thinks that I'm waiting for my marriage to fix itself so I can go back to him.
His dad walks in and sits down with us before I can explain that I'd be dead if I was still in that marriage, but not before I can open my mouth and make things infinitely worse. Not before he tells me that what I said about it being ok that he's jealous makes him feel like shit. Not before he can say that he screwed things up and I can wonder what in the fuck he thinks he did wrong, I'm the one saying things that are hurting him when I'm just trying to make things better.
His dad sits down and the conversation is done. And it feels like I'm 17 again and everything I say gets turned around into something that ends the whole thing, before I learned that you can have a conversation about an issue and it can be ok, no one is going to walk out, no one is going to tell you the problem is with you and that you're not worth changing anything for. I'm 17 again and feel like I'm heading home to get pushed against a wall and screamed at. I'm 17 and it feels like when we get in that car his fist is going to his my head rest and it's going to be my fault. We walk out and I managed to be nice to his dad. I wish I could see his family on a night that isn't terrible. I wish it wasn't always a fluke that his dad turns up when we're together. I wish he wanted me to meet them. I wish I knew for sure that he doesn't get angry enough to hit. I do know that if I go home to my house i'll be safe from that, but not from me. I can do way more damage on my own.
He doesn't though, and we go back to his house and its ok. We lie on the couch and watch tv. I try to get his clothes off and he doesn't react, I don't know why, I assumed it's me. I tell him I thought about it and he's right, it's really weird for me to keep my last name to be the same as the kids.
I go to bed with him and I'm just a little bit less than I was before.

Pageboy
by Elliot Page ★★★☆☆
Tumblr media
The joy of reading books is that you get to experience the world from someone else's perspective and it opens your eyes to the struggles of others that you likely have never given a second thought about. That was why I chose to read this book. I'm fortunate that I've never felt I was born in the wrong body, so reading this book was my way of understanding what that was like, at least from one person's standpoint. Yet, I couldn't help feel disappointed.
The book seems to suffers from that "must reach xxx number of pages by set deadline" disease. At the start of the book, Elliot shares that there are things he remembers, other things he doesn't, so they get filled in by other people, and it kind of shows. The book was padded with a lot of drivel, unnecessary descriptions, history lessons and even a very, occasionally cringey, long chapter about his visit to some hippie camp that I ended up skipping because I couldn't stay focused on it, because I couldn't help thinking "this isn't what I chose to read this book for".
You don't know what you're going to get from chapter to chapter, and you might get to a chapter where you're thinking "this is what I'm most interested in", such as their relationships with their partners, their family and their struggle with their feelings and dysphoria, but it might then go off on an unrelated tangent. A lot of it didn't really make sense or felt unnecessary to be included in the book, nor did anything kind of come full circle to show why Elliot had included that anecdote. I would've much rather read a shorter version of this book that solely focused on Elliot's more personal experiences and their journey towards coming out as gay and ultimately trans.
Maybe I'm being harsh because I read McCurdy's book, "I'm Glad My Mom Died", before this one; another child star who, although doesn't experience difficulties of coming out, experiences abuse and an eating disorder. McCurdy does a great job of organising the book fairly linearly, clearly and each chapter is so deeply personal and entirely focused on her personal experiences and feelings. I just didn't get that level of sustained and focused intimacy with this book, despite some of the somewhat crude language that was used, which felt like it was thrown in to give the appearance of being more real and intimate, but you can't help your mind wandering when he randomly talks about beavers* or composting your poop.
It's a shame because I think this book had a promising premise, it was simply executed poorly.
*At one point it seemed he got attacked by a beaver but it wasn't made clear whether that legitimately happened, if it was metaphorical or imagined at the time because this story was cut off, as many are.
