Do you think if Izuku was a girl Bakudeku would have been seen cannon from day one? I mean Bakugo seems to also have all the tropes of a female romantic love interest in Shonen and the reason why many don't think Bakugo's feelings towards Deku are of a romantic nature is because Deku is a boy. Here's to Bakudeku becoming cannon <3
If the story managed to miraculously stay the exact same story with the only difference being Katsuki is a girl (coz let’s face it, he was the princess being abducted by LOV and held so protectively by Izuku in the Vol 37 cover), then yes. Everyone would be bkdk and all other ships would seem delusional, the way Izuochas/other fans think we are. It’s just ‘cause it’s happening between two guys that people stop caring about the moments that develop or hint at their romance. And this is something Hori wants to change.
I don’t know if you’ve noticed this but Hori represents BkDk in a super wholesome way without many traces of sexual desire. Because he wanted shounen readers to see their love as something real and beautiful, and not being made just for the sake of BL or fetish.
Though tbf, he has occasionally depicted Kacchan as ikemen, maybe to help us imagine Izuku’s struggle to hold back his feelings for him.
Tumblr media
Kacchan is gorgeous, and yet his combative personality has scared away girls his whole life. And here we have Izuku always having accepted him for who he is and never distancing himself from him despite the many attempts by Kacchan to reject and send him away!
But anyway, Hori focussed so heavily on the emotions they feel towards each other because he wants readers to look at pure romantic love between a boy and another boy and understand it has no difference whatsoever with the love between a girl and a boy.
Tumblr media
This also might be another reason why baby Decchan memories come up sometimes with Kacchan’s POV, or why Noguchi drew so many pictures of their childhood.
Tumblr media
Because Katsuki and Izuku seem to be each other’s first love, and while feelings grew rotten for a while, the deep love they have for each other now comes from an incredibly sweet and pure origin.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
How Hori is gonna pull this off really has my interest now because he has written bkdk so beautifully up until this point, so I have high expectations for his future plans to bring them together.
Update: I just wanted to add that my heart is so full right now from the KiriMina/BkDk parallels in ch.383. Canon BkDk really is coming right at us and it feels like Hori is going to bombard doubters with reminders of their love until they practically beg Hori to end their misery, and just draw what he has been waiting to draw for so many years, lol. 😊

Seasons (Bada Lee)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
pairings: Bada Lee x Fem!Reader
word count: 1.887
genre: fluffy, angst
summary: You think there are no feelings in your relationship with Bada, because you are distant, but you are completely mistaken.
warnings: nothing too big, insecure reader, distancing yourself, crying, I think that’s all? [no review]
a/n: Yes, I just wrote this and god, I've had this in my head for a long time, ignore the mistakes and if it's too confusing.
Your relationship was something you loved, especially because of the person you were with. The beginning was so magical and the chemistry you had made your heart swell with love and your mind thought it was in a book you read.
The romance with Bada began when you accompanied your friend to a practice class to test out new hobbies, and well, you couldn't help but notice the tall and sexy choreographer everyone was talking about before, during, and after the class.
The class itself was energetic and caused a lot of excitement for you and your friend. You continued going to dance classes but in the end, your friend gave up to pay attention to something else and you focused on something that was finally good, dancing.
You weren't the best or the worst, but you had a lot of fun practicing the choreographies and steps that you saw and were assigned during practices.
Until the day he was changing classes, in his rush to get to the next class, he ended up bumping into someone, his hands on the person's abdomen, on the person's waist for support, his eyes opening and looking at the familiar shirt, his eyes going up and meeting the playful gaze of her dance teacher.
“I think you can let me go now.” She giggled, removing the hand that held her from her shoulder, her cheeks burning with embarrassment, walking away quickly.
“I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to…” You bowed in embarrassment.
"All good." She ruffled her hair a little. “You must be late for something, so go carefully and don’t fall there.” Bada joked and left.
Since that day, when she saw you, she joked about the incident that occurred, resulting in you being as red as a tomato and a giggling Bada.
At the end of one of the classes with Bada, it was just you and her left to tidy the room, a pleasant silence until she brought up the subject, playing with you again and praising your red cheeks, after stopping laughing, she sighed and looked at you, your eyes met, a mixture of joy and confusion, until you asked what she was looking at and she asked if you would like to go out with her, of course her red cheeks became visible.
Bada Lee, your dance teacher who everyone wanted and praised your performances asking you out? Of course he caused a short circuit in his brain, accepting the invitation in a friendly way.
The meeting evolved into several other meetings, visiting and getting to know cafes, going to cinemas, the beach, festivals, dance events and many others. One of these meetings took them to the Han River, on an October night, the cold wind that blew leaving their lips, noses and ears red, their bodies warmed by the laughter and conversations they shared, their eyes meeting at different times and shining. one to another, even the atmosphere thickens to the point where their lips touch, a passionate and slow kiss, transmitting unspoken and hidden feelings.
The moment they pulled away, they looked at each other, shy and nervous now, thinking about what would happen now.
“Well… I, uh… I think I have more than friendly feelings for you, Y/N.” Bada confessed, looking shyly at her own feet. “I would like to test how far this can take me, actually us.”
She finally looked you in the eyes, their hearts beating in sync, a smile appeared on her face, honored by the confession, causing Bada anxiety for her response.
“I would also like to test how far these feelings can take us, Bada Lee.” You smiled, before the choreographer's arms pulled you into a tight hug and a kiss that made your stomach bubble.
These feelings took you to distant places, the relationship brought you to the present, your relationship with Bada had lasted more than four years, always together and supporting each other, comforting and encouraging in your times of need. Bada and you grew up as dancers, doing duets together and small appearances in some groups' music videos, Bada became famous over the course of her talent and her beauty, especially among girls, which you don't mind so much, since In the end, it was you she would sleep cuddling with after a long day. And you focused on your career as a teacher, teaching at the academy as Bada.
This was shown when Bada accepted the invitation to be a street woman fighter, to show the world her skills with the BEBE team. Bada even asked if you would like to participate with them, so you denied, you didn't like so much attention and you certainly didn't want to appear on television out of embarrassment.
From the first episode, in fact, since she received and started preparing for the program, you encouraged her to do her best, praising her effort and congratulating her because she deserved it in addition to all the stress she suffered along the way.
You watched each episode, rooting for the team and even feeling a little jealous with the battles and interactions you had and had with your girlfriend. Every time she arrived at the shared apartment, you greeted her with compliments and your playful opinions about what happened episodes always make her laugh.
But since then, it started to slow down, Bada's free time decreased, her focus on the program's missions increased, making her always arrive home late at night, spending a little bit of her free time with her team or surrounded by friends. new fans that she obtained during the episodes for her dances and her masculine and feminine aura that she had.
And your insecurity awakened, the number of Bada's followers increased, every day more people found her, complimented her and flirted with her, the thought of you disappearing and her not noticing caused nightmares and a fear grew in you, your thoughts were consuming , making you insecure and unhappy because you seemed so distant from your girlfriend, you were falling apart and no one was noticing.
Perhaps such thoughts were too trivial because it was you she would hug after a tiring day, even if you had fallen asleep, she would smell your shampoo and kiss your cheek before leaving for another day.
Little did you know that Bada was in bad shape too, she knew that you valued her privacy and her success during the program made her afraid of people invading her personal space and messing up her relationship. That's why she thought that by moving away from you, you wouldn't feel suffocated by the crowd that was behind her, she was always thinking about you, all the missions she couldn't tell you and made her cry, she wanted to run from the room practice and run to you, hug you and cry until everything is okay, because your hug was her safe haven, it always was.
When Bada heard from you that you were going to travel, fear settled in her, she thought she couldn't be without you, just as you thought you couldn't be without her, but it would leave her freer to practice and focus on the program.
The short time spent with her parents, Bada made sure she would receive notes accompanied by daisies, her favorite flower, until you returned home to her.
When you arrived at her apartment, it was almost half past midnight, nervousness taking over you, you had the plan to talk to Bada and review her feelings, if they were there.
Upon entering the room, you were greeted with Bada's tight hug involving you, saying that she missed you and that she missed you, there were only a few days left until the end of the program, she was so nervous lately that she was barely sleeping and when she heard you coming in she ran to see you.
After the long hug, you were nervous about saying something and Bada took the initiative, asking how your visit to your parents was and you responded by saying how the past few days had been. Silence took over soon after and it was you who started this time .
“Bada… I think we need to talk.” You said, looking at her sitting with her legs crossed as you shared the same couch.
"Of course dear." She adjusted herself to look at you better, she was nervous. “Is there something bothering you? Anything I can help with?”
The nickname she used reminded you of the moments together, the beginning and everything before all this snowball suffocated you.
“Do you… Do you still have feelings for me?”
The question made Bada confused, of course she was, but the confusion came because of the lack of confidence you appeared with the question.
“Why this question? Of course I do, I love you. What made you think not?” She grabbed his shaking hands.
“We seem so far away... I love you, but I feel like I don't have you anymore... I don't know, I'm feeling so confused. There are so many people complimenting you and flirting with you, of course forever, but this has intensified and I... I'm so insecure that you don't like me anymore.” The confession made Bada squeeze his hands to comfort him.
“Ah princess…” She pulled him into a hug. “Forgive me for that, I thought you would like privacy so I stayed away for the sake of the program. I didn't want to make you insecure or uncomfortable through any of these things, I thought I was keeping you safe but I think I ended up moving away from you, I'm sorry.” Bada spoke during the hug.
“I didn't want this to happen... I was praying for you, that you could be by my side, but I got caught up in it all.” She continued, pulling back to look at you.
Her eyes were teary, bright with unshed tears, realizing that she was so bad seeing only the negative side that she didn't realize Bada's intention to protect her.
“Sorry, now I feel so selfish for not seeing your point.” The tears rolled down her cheeks.
"Oh, darling. Don’t cry, don’t blame yourself for it.” Bada tried to wipe the tears from her cheeks. “I love you so much, I would give my life for you, you are my safe haven, my season, I would never do anything to hurt you on purpose.” She whispered to you, tears threatening to fall more.
"I love you so much much much." You said as you wrapped your arms around her neck to hug her. “You are my everything, Bada. You are my favorite person and the one I love most, I’m sorry.” You asked through tears.
Bada held your face with her hands, kissing your face while whispering statements and compliments to you, after an intense session of kisses and hugs, she helped you take a shower and made you wear comfortable clothes to sleep, hugging you under the blanket, kissing your cheeks and lips, holding you close to her, as if she would lose you if she let go.
"I love you my love." She whispered, kissing his nose.
“I love you too, Bada.” You hugged her tightly, hiding in her neck, smelling her, this woman was yours, just like you were hers.

BY ANI WILCENSKI
At Cornell, the school uses an anonymous reporting system in which anyone can submit a complaint against a frat, even people who don’t attend the university—which can then become near-immediate grounds for a formal investigation during which the fraternity may very likely be suspended. This happened as recently as February, when Cornell’s Office of Student Conduct and Community Standards (OSCCS) received “an anonymous incident report” making unspecified allegations against at least 10 fraternities. By 9 p.m. the same day, OSCCS emailed every new member of those fraternities encouraging them to come forward with their own reports; three days later the school began suspending the accused chapters. The frats were prohibited from all social activity during the investigation, which included banning new members from eating at the house, even though they were paying for the fraternity meal plan, and limiting events at campus apartments occupied by graduating seniors, some of whom even had to cancel their birthday parties. I talked to one senior who wrote to the university, explaining that their guidelines were making it impossible to hold even small gatherings among friends and asking for additional clarity so seniors could find approved ways to enjoy their final days as students—especially since the anti-Israel protests were making campus life notably unenjoyable.
“It was frustrating because most people in our frat are Jewish, and the frat really was essential for us while there were swastikas being drawn on school sidewalks and people were yelling ‘From the river to the sea’ every day,” he said. “I said in my email to the school that campus is divided, isolating, and even threatening for Jews sometimes, so having the fraternity social network is actually a critical part of our lives. They didn’t even respond to my message.” The school lifted his frat’s suspension nearly a month later after the university found insufficient evidence for the allegations.
This incident—and the myriad other times the school leaped to penalize even unsubstantiated infractions—is still fresh in the minds of Cornell fraternity brothers as they watch the university’s noisy Gaza encampment enter its second week, despite multiple statements from the school pointing out its many rule violations. “It’s pretty clear the school views a certain type of rule break as honorable and just, and other rule breaks as violations by entitled jerks, so this was not surprising to me,” the senior said.

racked my brain and the only time i can remember percy worrying about physically hurting annabeth before this is when he blew up mt st helens—he says he wasn’t sure she “made it out of the volcano”, and she’s the first thing he asks hephaestus about on ogygia. it seems like regular worry to me, although i think you could read guilt between the lines, and he’s more overwhelmed when he learns how big the eruption he caused was. i don’t know if rr was particularly thinking about this at the time but it would make sense as a traumatic event that sparked this fear of not being in control of his powers/feeling guilt/self-loathing about the possibility he could hurt his friends, and then the events of hoo really making it an issue. (the thread between this + thinking he deserves to die because he lost control and tortured akhkys which scared annabeth + thinking “i will never forgive myself” because he lost control and potentially hurt annabeth… aaaagh.)
yes yes yes mt st helens is a great point and I completely agree with you, that I would almost qualify it more like a regular worry because I think the distinction between this moment and the moment in cotg for me is that Percy had specifically told Annabeth to leave and go to safety, and its not like he (or anyone) knew what he was going to accidentally do, but I felt there was an argument to be made that he knew it was going to get nasty (as both him and annabeth recognized on some level that he was likely going to die there)??? And the shocker was not just him losing control but the scale of him losing control and that scale of power is what endangered Annabeth, despite his warning for her to leave. Meanwhile, in cotg, Percy loses it and controls millions of metric tons of river water and Annabeth is just, chilling on a ledge that's close enough where he had regularly been remarking on her expressions and what she had been doing in the paragraphs prior. (Honestly, he's really lucky that nothing happened to her.) So I guess its the proximity of annabeth to Percy in these moments that makes them more distinct in my eyes, if that makes any sense at all. And as soon as Percy comes back to himself in cotg, he's immediately like "oh shit did I just kill annabeth?" and it's not even him overreacting, the scene reads like he really could have, which is absolutely WILD for RR to throw in there.
The other part in pjo that I was debating if you could qualify is the death of Michael Yew because Percy was the one inadvertently responsible for it. Despite how much the pjo wikia wants to gaslight me about Michael Yew's death, its literally a canon example of Percy accidentally killing a friend as a byproduct of his powers. But like, Percy didn't lose control or "snap" in that scene, using his powers had been very intentional, it was again, the scale and the fallout that had led to Michael's death. And then Percy never thinks about it again.
But literally yes, in a perfect world where Riordan was planning all of this out and actually connected these moments with intention, mt st helens being the traumatic event that sparked the fear of not being in control of powers make SO MUCH SENSE. And since Riordan does want to characterize percy as feeling guilty and worrying about the possibility of hurting his friends, I feel like guilt over Michael Yew's death is just, sitting right there for the taking
ugh I know im rambling but there's just so much for RR to purposefully connect but instead its as if he's treating these moments where Percy snaps/loses controls/hates himself/worries about hurting others as separate, unrelated incidents while we the readers are seeing how all these events would realistically be influenced by one another and are compounding/piling on top of Percy and getting worse. It IS all connected.

The Damned Four Warriors AU
You know all those cats that everyone in the fandom always asks how they got into Starclan, what if Starclan themselves started asking that same question?
This AU follows four cat's that were let into Starclan originally now being put into 'probation' after they don't improve as people in the slightest. Four spirits get sent back to the mortal realm and do Starclan's (Clear Sky's) will or get booted to the Dark Forest. I am not entirely sure what that 'Will' is mind you, but things from fighting back Dark Forest spirits (which are a bit more "dark nightmare creatures" in this AU) and orchestrating some of Starclan's less ethical mortal meddling. Essentially, every time Starclan begins to screw cats over and random events happen that allow for prophecies to succeed, these four are the ones sent to do it. Suicide Squad but with Ghost Cats if you will.
Now, you might say that throwing a bunch of already angered and restless spirits who all died violently into situations which will only further anger and hurt them isn’t a good way to make them better, and you would be right.
The line up:
Mudclaw: His coup attempt enraged Starclan and there was a lot of debate, but his life of being basically a model Warrior: traditionalist, brave, ready to fight, and reverence for Starclan got him enough good boy points for them to let him in. Also his 'lawyers' (spirits on his side) basically just blamed Hawkfrost for everything. However, he was not content with this, and as Mudclaw increasingly began to stew in rage and bitterness over his smiting and Starclan's intervention in Windclan, they started getting nervous. Starclan spirit's do have some power over the real world, not a lot, but enough to where one rogue Starclan spirit could cause a lot of problems. So they kicked Mudclaw into this group to keep him under control and generally just give him something to do.
Ashfur: Was let in for generally the same reasons as Mudclaw, but slightly less so. He wasn't that exceptional of a warrior, but Starclan was currently still panicking over the existence of The Three. Ashfur was convincing enough and the Higher spirits didn’t really want to deal with anything regarding any of the three for now (also they don’t particularly like Squirrelflight) so they generally just gave him the benefit of the doubt. As his obsession continued in Starclan however, the powers that be basically saw the plot of TBC coming. Ashfur is here so they can keep an eye on him and keep him away from anything important.
Needletail: Out of the four, she is the one that Starclan came closest to just chucking into the dark forest. The whole “Kin” incident angered them greatly, as Clancats betrayed their own at the whims of rogues. Her heroic sacrifice won them over enough to let her in, but Needletails general aversion to authority and caustic side remained. Basically, when they got this idea, she was already on the short list of cats they wanted gone.
Appledusk: After Mapleshade went on a rampage (which was partially their fault) they wanted someone to blame alongside Mapleshade, so they settled on Frecklewish. However, as Maple then became a major river demon that drowned apprentices and inflicted generational curses, fingers started pointing again. With everyone else involved being either a leader or a medicine cat (both of which would implicitly lay blame on Starclan) Appledusk was the next one up to get thrown under a bus.
The four are thus no longer Starclan cats, they have been cut off from the stars and their connections to the ancestral plain (I will go more into that later). They can freely roam the earth and each have certain powers that let them influence the mortal world. Also, due to them not being associated with Starclan, at least officially, they can be made easy scapegoats if things go wrong and either the mortals or other Starclan cats start having questions.
This is all overseen by Clear Sky, (if this is a suicide squad anaology, he is the “Amanda Waller”) who was ‘chosen’ (decided) to guide them and punish them if necessary. He is essentially a lesser god and the one that gives them their orders. The question of what is Starclan’s will and what is HIS will is one that tends to pop up.
Overview of all the characters, subject to change based on how I think they would act and also on any new ideas
Feel free to ask questions and also suggestions, this is very barebones so I would be happy to develop it. The cast is not set in stone, or the lore, or the story, or much of anything.

Turning AU!!
Spirit King Yuder!
Spirits have long since persisted in the world of turning, although very rarely are they seen by humans. They’re kind of like fae in that they are elusive, mischievous, and inhuman. Spirits like to make deals like fae, and the only real difference is that they’re all embodiments of elements of nature. The older the feature of nature is the older the spirit is. Although to even look like a child the spirit has to be centuries old (ex: rivers, newer landscapes) spirits of things such as flowers and younger trees are more like sprites or animals, and have a similarly lower intellect. Humans are as aware of spirits as we are of fae (few believe but it is somewhat widely known) spirits typically can’t be seen which is part of why people don’t believe in them. The Awakening happens as per usual and this is where Yuder comes in.
Basically there are two options for this AU
1.
Yuder has been spirit king since forever and isn’t beholden to the same rules as his subjects. So when the awakening happens he gets curious and attempts to insert himself into life near the site of the red stone. This ends up with him joining the cavalry, this time with his motivation being satisfying his curiosity. He ends up in various shenanigans with the cavalry as a result of his clear inhumanity. It would be extra funny if literally everybody thinks Yuder is a spy because of how suspiciously he’s acting (talking to thin air, sneaking around, missing at odd times, disrespecting ALL royalty) and when Enon joins (they already know each other) he adds fuel to the fire because he thinks it’s funny. They probably find out because one of the spirits forgets to hide themselves one day.
2. The ANGSTIER option
The spirits have their own main element(wind, earth, fire, water) kings, but when Yuder gains abilities from the red stone he gains the ability to control all of nature. A power that no one else in the history of the world was able to do. With all of nature (meaning spirits as well) respecting his will, this triggers Yuder’s gradual ascension into a spirit (king).
Btw the reason no other awakened or mage ascended to a spirit is because they typically have one or two spirits following them around where it’s a symbiotic relationship, essentially a deal, where the person gets control over the element, while the spirits powers grow. The difference is literally all spirits listen to Yuder and obey him as long as he as the power to direct them.
In the 1st timeline Yuder found out about the world ending much earlier, along with the Pethuamet’s incident (he didn’t make it in time, although the cavalry got there faster) due to the spirits. This doesn’t actually mean anything and he’s even more stressed (with less evidence but more likelihood in the world ending) and kishiar is not helping. And Yuder’s own pending immortality is going to suck ass in a world that’s ended. The spirits being the mischievous little fuckers that they are tell Yuder to just take kishiar’s soul bcs he likes him and he’ll probably be less annoying. Yuder is understandably distressed by this and tired of the spirits bs, but does agree when the spirits tell him he can just let kishiar live out his natural life span then take his soul, and it’ll be even easier considering their connection and many “deals”.
So things (unsurprisingly) go to shit when Kishiar severs their connection. Yuder at that point had been pretty well into integrating into the world, and having a part of the (eventual) spirit king’s soul ripped out made everything that much worse.
If you’re wondering about how exactly Kishiar had enough power to do that, think a pebble causing an avalanche, with Yuder’s soul being the pebble, the end of the world being the avalanche.
Yuder then goes though canon 1st timeline events with the main difference being Yuder refusing to use his powers, rather than being unable to. ( he feels he caused the end, for no real reason)
I don’t know how much changes other than Yuder’s emotional state (it’s 10x worse) and how much he tries to push Kishiar away bcs he doesn’t want to force him into selling his soul away ( We all know Kishiar would be all in as long as it’s his precious Yuder 😊)
Anyways he and Emon also have existential crises together too now.

911 Lone Star Tag Game: Disasters
Thank you @lonestar-s5countdown for tagging me. @ladytessa74 and @lemonlyman-dotcom thank you for tagging me last week! I will tag you this week in return!
(1) What is your favorite 911 Lone Star disaster or emergency?
The snowstorm is by far their most well done disaster/disaster arc. I love that there are several individual stories going on and despite the 126 being spread out everyone is still crossing paths and working together. The tornado, solar storm and the dust storm I thought were also well done. I think the biggest disappointment to me was the heat burst. It just wasn’t as intense as I had hoped it would be.
(2) Is there a disaster the show hasn't already done that you'd like to see?
I like that they always pick these outrageous disasters for lone star but something mundane might be nice too. Maybe a proper heatwave or drought. Instead of all the emergencies happening at once, just continuous endless calls that run the team ragged. Alternatively, I’d really like to see them do some water rescues. Flooding can be extremely common, maybe after days and days of excessive rain a river overflows. And it starts with small calls, little calls that are almost annoying to the team but eventually it escalates into something devastating.
(3) If you're keeping up with BTS/spoilers, which season 5 disaster are you most looking forward to?
I need to know what’s going on with the train wreck/chlorine gas incident and how they are connected beyond the obvious source of the gas. The promo implies that they are happening at the same time but not all at the same location? At least I don’t think so? The train wreck appears to be in a more rural area and Marjan is the one who discovers it, in the middle of the train wreck, but it seems like Tommy and Nancy (and presumably TK but definitely a third paramedic) are not there but in some sort of classroom? And there have been a few more bts videos/photos that look like the team in a school hallway, so did they get called to a different scene? Are there high winds spreading the giant cloud of death or is there just a school in the neighboring area of the wedding venue. Not to mention Wyatt is already working at dispatch when it happens so how long has Owen been putting off picking someone to replace Judd?
(4) Which three main characters would you want with you in the event of a massive natural disaster and why?
Tommy for sure because she is calm under pressure and has the medical knowledge. Judd because he’s got the leadership and firefighter skills. I feel like I can’t go wrong with Paul, Marjan or Mateo as the third pick. We know from the dust storm Mateo can also keep a level head in an emergency and is very resourceful, but I think I have to pick Marjan. It sounds like she specifically has the most natural disaster experience, being from Florida of course, so probably exceptionally good to have around if one occurred.
(5) Which three main characters would you least want with you in the event of a massive natural disaster and why?
Owen and TK for sure. Obviously they would know what to do and that’s great but they are magnets for trouble and I would not want skew my odds of survival by having them around. It’s probably cheating to say but definitely Grace as my third pick. She needs to be on the other end of the phone with google or Wikipedia pulled up to help save us from far far away.

What are the things in lore you would say ZUN 100% retconned/later ignored in regards to his own material?
This was a pretty broad question to answer at the drop of a hat, so I let it sit in my inbox for a while and wrote down a couple things that came to mind in the meantime.
As we all know, yadda yadda, Touhou is very good at simply not bringing things up again, and thus you can very rarely argue that some individual thing has been outright retconned based simply on its absence in later works. Add unreliable narrators on top, and that only really leaves the very clear contradictions.
Early Windows stuff: You can surely find more if you crawl more carefully than I felt like doing, but here’s some that I remember. The EoSD prologue tells us that Gensokyo is just a seldom visited region in the mountains with a few random humans living amongst monsters, implicitly no Human Village, and no barrier around it. Reimu is worried that the red mist would basically flow out of Gensokyo and into what we'd now consider "the Outside World", which may or may not be aware of Gensokyo and just ignoring it. It's not hard at all to slot into the current setting by moving around a couple things, but read on its own without anachronistic assumptions it's clearly different. Basically, it's a good example of how the essentials of Gensokyo as a setting really weren't fully formed until at least a couple games later.
As an extension of that, I think a lot of things associated with EoSD - like the preceding Vampire Incident, the spell card rules, or even the SDM being newcomers to Gensokyo - weren’t even a twinkle in ZUN’s eye at the time he made EoSD, and were only retconned into existence starting roughly with PMiSS. (Them being newcomers is arguable based on stuff like Reimu not knowing the mansion was there, but that’s also easily explained by Reimu being Reimu.)
PCB starts fleshing things out a bit more and has fewer outright contradictions, but still for example claims/implies that humans sealed up Gensokyo in order to lock the youkai inside. Not irreconcilable, especially if you assume an unreliable narrator yadda yadda, but I think it’s fair to consider it retconned.
By the time of IN, the main pieces are more or less in place and there’s a lot less stuff that would need to be retconned later on, but you can still find some messiness especially related to the Moon if you want to read it that way.
Reimu’s luck: While it’s come up on rare occasion, typically in the form of her “intuition” but also in LE where she uses it for gambling, I don’t think it’s ever again been anywhere near as extreme as that time in EaLND where she walked over a river by happening to step on random fish. If anything, she usually seems pretty unlucky at everything that isn’t specifically gambling or solving incidents, but that might be its own hair to split.
Just for bonus points: Since it’s been on my mind. The literal meaning of retcon is “retroactive continuity”. I think the manga, games etc. typically work on a Schrödinger’s Timeline that simply doesn’t exist until it is directly referenced somehow, and even then it’s only loosely defined. For example, CDS and Lotus Eaters started around the same time (in real life), which was also when the first Gouyoku Ibun demo came out. Lotus Eaters could be making long time skips for all we know, but the events of CDS have probably spanned only a couple weeks at most.
And now we have Lotus Eaters' latest chapters taking place shortly after the events of Gouyoku. In that case, when Yukari summons Flan into the Underground to act as her ballistic missile in CDS, is she doing it before or after Okina did literally the same thing in Gouyoku? When does CDS take place in relation to Gouyoku, or any given LE chapter? Or does it, and every Touhou story, merely take place “now”, even if it started in 2019 and it’s now 2023?
Since Touhou stories tend to only reference each other when they feel like it and are otherwise perfectly comfortable just not bringing it up in any way, there’s a good chance we’ll never know. Or they could simply say something in the next chapter just because. But usually not.

Steven Universe Of The Creek Chapter 19 Perilous Sewage To Lazurite Sewage
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Steven placed both of his hands on Craig’s head, looking straight into his eyes. He spent the last two minutes trying to see his eyes turn pink again, after the incident from the Tea Timers’ Club. Luckily, Craig’s eyes did turn pink, catching Steven by surprise along with the others.
“They’ve turned pink again.” Kelsey reacted.
“Okay, just don’t move.” Steven responded. In Craig’s vision, he saw Steven as a monster again. However it felt like he was talking to him, despite what the Crystal Gems did back then. “It had to be my saliva going through his ear.”
“It all makes sense now.” Craig replied.
“Did you give him that when you were at his grandparents house?” Omar asked.
“Yes but I wasn’t in a good mood when he showed me his gem two nights ago.”
As Steven let go of Craig, his pink eyes went away, returning back to normal. “I didn’t think my saliva could affect someone like that. It’s gonna be permanent since it happened to Connie when I helped her with her eyes.” This caused Steven to cross his arms. “There isn’t much more I can do to help.”
Just before Steven looked into his eyes, Craig put on his water shoes with him officially picking the location for Steven. “The good thing is, it’s only happening in my mind and not out in the open.” Craig replied. “But you're right, we have to do something to get rid of it.”
“As if calling Garnet wasn’t enough.”
“I was thinking of how cool it is to have pink eyes but…you won’t see things the same way after drinking pink lemonade.” J.P. commented.
“If you actually drink the straw that I used so…it’s not the lemonade itself.”
“We can figure this out later before it’s too late.” Craig turned around to show Steven the next destination of their activity. “Welcome…to the sewers.” He pointed at the sewers. “This is where the Sewer Queen’s at.”
This caused Steven to smile a bit. “I actually saw her when she and other kids headed to the creek when Bernard gave me a tour in the neighborhood.”
“Not to mention she was with us when…the whole battle you had happened.” Kelsey added.
“I didn’t forget but…it’s still awkward there’s a sewer queen…in the sewers.” Steven looked at the sewer itself.
“It’s just a visit, we won’t do anything inside.” Craig jumped in the river. As his friends also jumped in, Steven slowly stepped into the water. As they walked up to the sewer itself, the pink and blue noodle guards came out like they always do, but with the events that occurred last night, it affected everyone in the sewers more than what Craig, Steven and his friends thinked.
“The sewers are on lockdown at the moment.” The pink noodle guard explained.
“On lockdown?” Craig wondered.
“Shouldn’t there be caution tape if it’s on lockdown?” Omar added.
“It has nothing to do with the water.” The blue noodle guard then walked up to Omar straight in the eye. “It’s what Bluebird can do with the water.”
This caused Steven to catch on, knowing that Aquamarine is dangerous in her fusion with Ruby. “Is it okay if we can go inside? We could work this out.” Steven offered.
“The Sewer Queen did want to meet you after last night’s events.” The pink noodle guard replied. “Luckily enough, the sewer kids don’t view you as the enemy.”
“That’s a relief.”
“But for Bluebird…it may make them scared.” The noodle guards invite them inside the sewer.
When they entered the main area while the throne of the Sewer Queen took place, the sewer kids all over the place were panicking. Craig and Steven saw drawings of Bluebird hanging on the wall, with the kids trying to understand what she can do with her powers, despite not witnessing what The Sewer Queen saw.
The Sewer Queen didn’t sit on her throne due to the sewer kids screaming without fun in their systems. “Craig.” She smiled while noticing Steven. “I’m thankful you’re here. Everyone here has been freaking out after I told them about Bluebird.”
“Yeah, I knew something like this would happen.” Craig said. “I just didn’t think a lockdown would take place.”
“I had no other way to calm everyone down. They refused to leave with a couple going through the pipes for more protection.”
“It seems it may cause a possible war in the eyes of the sewer kids.” Kelsey commented.
“I’ve been telling them there’s no war, but I don’t even know if I’m right.” Scuba chiming in with Frisboy by his side.
“They’re afraid that one flying water…thing could overcome us all.” Frisboy added. “By using water against us.”
“I like the water the way it is here. She would turn the water into something scary!”
Steven tried to respect the sewer kids in their way of having fun, but with his experiences of fighting Bluebird from last night isn’t anything of what they think. However, it did give him an idea to calm them down, even if it’s by telling the truth about Bluebird.
“Sewer Queen.” Steven walked up to the queen and sewer kids. “Allow me to handle the situation. It won’t be much, but it will stop the lockdown.”
The Sewer Queen gave him a chance with a small suggestion. She whispered into Steven’s ear, with him accepting her suggestion as it will show the sewer kids how safe they are. Steven climbed the throne while jumping over the fence where the entrance with two pipes on both sides are at. While looking down on the sewer kids, The Sewer Queen whistled with her hand through her mouth, catching the attention of the sewer kids.
“Everyone, calm down.” She spoked. “I know my story caused a distress signal, but I didn't mean it in that way.” She then pointed at Steven as it caught the attention from the sewer kids. “I want you all to welcome Steven Universe, the warrior who fought Bluebird.”
The Sewer Kids felt relief as they paid attention to Steven. “Thank you Sewer Queen.” Steven smiled. “Now to make this clear about Bluebird, she doesn’t control the water. Including…the sewer water.” He looked at the sewer pipes. “And trust me, I doubt she would ever come here to harm all of you.”
The Sewer Kids slowly smiled after the word came out. He then lifted his shirt up to reveal his gem to everyone. “I don’t control the water, but my powers are still worth protecting the people when needed.” He activated his powers to form a bubble with him inside. “Including me.”
“Wow.” Scuba responded.
“Not what I expected, but protection is important.” The Sewer Queen added.
Steven let go of his powers to get back on topic. “I’m a Crystal Gem along with my friends and family who are Crystal Gems.” Steven went through his pocket to take out his phone. When he reached the photo he’s looking for, he looked at Craig. “Craig! Heads up!” He threw his phone as Craig grabbed it in time.
“Got it!” He raised Steven’s phone up.
“Perfect!” J.P. smiled.
“Show it to the Sewer Kids.” Steven called.
Craig went to the sewers by each pipe and showed them the picture of the Crystal Gem who’s blue. “Her name is Lapis Lazuli.” Steven called. “She actually controls the water, more powerful than you think, but she isn’t like Bluebird.” When Craig showed the picture to more of the sewer kids, Steven continued his speech. “She was mean years ago, but let’s just say she wouldn’t use her powers in a way Bluebird would do.” He then took notice of one of the sewer kids raising their hand. “Yes?”
“If she enjoyed herself in the sewers, do you think she would spend her time with us?” A young girl asked.
Steven wanted to tell the truth but he doesn’t want to hurt the Sewer Kids feelings. “Yes…but she would like it better if we’re all at a river in the creek, or a waterfall of some sort.”
“She likes the outdoors more than the indoors.” Craig filling in.
“Okay.” The Sewer Queen walked up to Craig, looking at the photo itself. “If she ever comes here, we could play a water gun war with her.”
“Trust me.” Steven making an awkward smile. “If she was on her own and playing hard ball, she would come out victorious in less than ten seconds.”
“I would definitely forfeit the moment I saw her powers.” Frisboy commented.
“Nobody can blame you.” Omar replied.
As the Sewer Kids panic mode went down, it pleased the Sewer Queen. She climbed up her throne, sitting down to give the kids her announcement. “Now since that everything is in order thanks to the Bluebird warrior Steven.”
“I would prefer Crystal Gem, but warrior still makes sense.” Steven scratched on the back of his head.
“And so, the lockdown has been lifted!”
The Sewer Kids cheered as The Sewer Queen lifted her pool skimmer net in the air. Just when Craig and his friends cheered, Craig’s eyes turned pink again only this time, she saw the Sewer Queen as Lapis Lazuli, even with the wings. He also witnessed the net being the mirror with Lapis’s gem on the back. Unlike the last time, this wasn’t severe, in fact, he was surprised to witness the Sewer Kids as other Lapises with different hairstyles.
The Sewer Queen got off her throne while walking up to Craig. “I wanted to thank your friend Steven for helping out with my problem.” When she got close to him, Craig looked up in the air, as Lapis looked down in his vision. “Umm…Craig, I’m in front of you?” He did look down but only her net, as he saw his reflection from the mirror.
Steven immediately took notice as he went over the fence and landed on the ground. “I’m so sorry, it mostly happens when I’m around him.” Steven walked next to The Sewer Queen.
“Did you give him eye drops…” She looked at Craig’s eyes. “That made him go blind?”
“Yes.” Kelsey smiled.
“Trust me, if there’s one thing Steven’s bad at is making eye drops of his own.” J.P. wrapping her arm around Craig.
“...Yeah, I didn’t have the best talent of helping people’s eyes.” Steven responded. “But to be fair, it worked only once...on my girlfriend.”
“Okay.” The Sewer Queen smiled. “I just hope it’ll go away.”
“We all can hope.”
Craig and his friends left the sewers as it returned to its normal state. The Sewer Queen offered to give Steven a reward, but she decided to make one before he leaves. As they got out of the sewers, Craig’s pink eyes went away. “What did you see?” Omar asked.
“I saw The Sewer Queen as Lapis Lazuli and she was holding a mirror.” Craig answered.
“Ahh the time I freed her from that.” Steven remembered. “Was there anything else?”
“The Sewer Kids were also like The Sewer Queen, but nothing seriously bad. I don’t even think I can take a break without my eyes turning pink.”
“Hey, look on the bright side.” Steven placed his hand on Craig’s shoulder. “I’m not leaving until you’re back to normal otherwise, you would have those pink eyes forever.”
“Finding the way to get rid of it is what I’m worrying about.”
Then bubbles appeared out of nowhere, catching everyone’s attention. She appeared on the left by the river, as she lifted her pink bubble wand. “I am the champion of feeling and positivity. Foe of bad vibes throughout the galaxy. I am Sparkle Cadet!” She poses with more bubbles coming out of her wand. “And nobody can dull my sparkle.”
When Steven and Craig looked at Sparkle Cadet, they both smiled from her performance. Which gave them the same and right idea. “You thinking what I’m thinking?” Craig turned to Steven.
“Yes.” He responded. “She’s gonna have another hero by her side, saving the galaxy.”

idk if you're still accepting this but 12 for the apple-pie siblings.
From this post: “What is their least favorite memory? Why is it their least favorite?”
Summer Beauty: Her whole life /j As of now it’s probably the moment Iolite cursed her, especially with the hindsight of knowing how that curse has affected her life. But before that, I imagine there was an event similar to “Invisible” or “Habit” where she got overshadowed by some family emergency, except that time it was her birthday or some other event that was objectively significant for her. The kind of event where it is reasonable to feel really disappointed even if you intellectually understand that certain emergencies have to be first priority. But knowing Summer, it just added to her resentment, even when her parents tried their hardest to make it up to her afterwards. I like to think that incident happened on Soarin’s side because she seems to like/tolerate her Apple siblings at least a little bit more.
Varmint Venom: When she and Brackish were kids (and into their young adulthood), they used to pick on each other a lot. Brackish was usually the one to stir up shit, but Varm could also instigate if she wanted to and she usually got the upper hoof with her wit and charisma. (For example, one time Brack tried using one of her snakes to look cool for the ladies, but said ladies suddenly took an interest in Varm instead.) But there still appeared to be a tiny modicum of respect even on Brackish’s end. When they were kids, though, Brackish decided to be really shitty and “show Varmint a cool frog” which entailed throwing several at her face. What was mostly an irrational, but manageable phobia was made so much worse by Brackish purposely being an instigator and laughing at his big sister’s misery. It was one of the few times in her life Varmint actually felt powerless. Brack mostly moved on to other methods for causing trouble when he grew up, but the one or two times he tried to tease Varm with frogs did not end well.
Brackish: I think Brackish’s least favorite memories entail times that he actually received consequences for his actions. Some consequences don’t really faze him too much; for example, if a mare breaks up with him, it might bruise his ego and piss him off but he never really cared about her to begin with. He can and will find somepony else in no time. Even groundings were mostly inconsequential in the long run because all he had to do was wait them out and push through the extra chores for a little bit. By “actual consequences” I mean his parents threatening to stop supporting him if he continues with his behavior, not because they don’t love him but because they’re running out of options. The support of his family is one constant he counts on. He may not enjoy all the reunions and he may find even his immediate family annoying sometimes, but some part of him still needs to know he still has them to fall back on. You could call it love or you could call it convenience, but either way the idea of losing that support is enough to scare him into…well not really cleaning up his act but being a lot less reckless, but also more manipulative.
Obsidian: For now it’s her falling out with River, which was the first serious conflict she’d ever had with the creature she once thought she was inseparable from. Add to that the shame of knowing somewhere under her defensiveness that she was wrong. Later in her story, it’s the events I described in this post.
Mountain Peak: Definitely when his grandfather died. As implied in “Sedimentary,” Mounty had no idea his grandpa was really that close to death, so when he did pass on it came as a complete shock. Maybe not to his more keen-eyed parents, but definitely to an optimistic young colt like him. It was made much worse by the fact that it happened right around the holidays, and by Limestone not being the most emotionally literate in trying to comfort him. After some time he did come to understand that his grandpa lived a good long life, and it wasn’t like he didn’t understand death before, having heard about all the passed-on Apples that came before him. It’s just different when it actually happens. As you probably read, though, he ended up dealing with it much better than Limestone. Also up there is the events of “Labradorite,” but at least in that instance, part of him already anticipated something going wrong.

HeliosR - Sing in the darkness - Chapter 3 - Part 1
Tumblr media
Translation of Sing in the darkness from ‘Helios Rising Heroes’, a new side arc alongside the current main story arc Like the dawning light.
Tumblr media
Male civilian A: Explain what happened at Brick River Bridge…!
Male civilian B: What in the world is that big hole in the sky!?
Female civilian A: Did a hero seriously do that!? A hero eradicated civilians?
Tumblr media
Nico: ………
Bianchi: Nico-chan! What’s the situation like!?
Nico: They’re going on how they want an explanation for what happened at Brick River Bridge
Jude: And how exactly do they want us to deal with this?
Bianchi: Us heroes showing up will surely stoke the flames even further….
Jude: Neither can we use our power against civilians. Some punches would shut ‘em right up though
Bianchi: Stop with that even if you’re joking
Nico: Looks like the cops showed up too
Bianchi: Then perhaps it’s best we leave this up to them---
Girl: Hey, where did my papa go?
Bianchi: ….!
Girl: He disappeared with the bridge… Waaah!!
Nico: This is turning into a big problem
Bianchi: ………
Jude: Is your heart aching, Bianchi
Bianchi: ….Anyone would be heartbroken, when it’s about fellow people
Bianchi: There’s nothing heroes can do at a time like this….
Jude: Yeah….
Nico: At his rate Robin will seriously be seen as a villain---
Jude: What, headquarters again?
Nico: No…
Nova: “Ah, Nico-kun! Thank god you picked up~!”
Nico: Did something happen
Nova: Yes! Yes it did! Sage has finally woken up!”
Nico: ….!
Nova: “He woke up a few minutes ago, so his consciousness is still somewhat hazy from the looks of it… Could you drop by the infirmary when you can?”
Bianchi: Let’s go immediately, Nico-chan
Nico: Coming right now
Nova: “Thank you! I’ll be waiting~”
-
Tumblr media
Nico: Sage
Sage: …..
Bianchi: Sei-chan. I’m so glad you’ve woken up…. I’m so, so glad…
Sage: ……..
Jude: What’s wrong. Still feeling hazy?
Tumblr media
Nova: Well.... about that…
Victor: His memory has become quite foggy from the looks of it.
Victor: He has forgotten about the events that took place within his own psychological world we saw though the Mavro system, while being unconscious…..
Victor: Which is why in order to understand what’s transpiring here, we briefly summed up everything again
Victor: Pertaining the details of how he lost consciousness, and the events that happened before and after it….
Bianchi: Which means…
Sage: Nico… Bianchi-san, Jude-kun….
Tumblr media
Sage: About Sensei… is it true….?
Nico: Sage…
Sage: It must be a lie… Sensei…. him dying… it’s all a bad joke, right…?
Bianchi: Sei-chan, it’s…
Victor: Do you truly not remember anything?
Nova: Vic…
Victor: It’s been one week since the incident and the city has visibly fallen into disorder.
Victor: A large number of civilians are swarming the Tower, urging us to explain what has happened precisely…..
Victor: On that day, what happened in that moment… You ought to have been a witness to Robin’s final moments
Victor: Do you understand that the one who can calm down this situation at hand, Sage, is no one other than you?
Bianchi: Hold it, Professor Victor. No matter how much you press him at the moment Sei-chan can’t---
Sage: I don’t know anything!
Bianchi: ….!

A/N : wassup? How are you? Hope you have a nice day my sweet potatos. This chapter could be a bit of a tricky, plus I noticed I overwrote it, if I hadn't noticed I would have posted a chapter of 16k+ words, so I checked my calculations and decided to split it up. I also made sure that the most exciting things will happen separately rather than being crammed into one chapter. The good thing is, I'm going to try to post the next chapter after this one after I sort things out and everything. I hope you will enjoy.

At headquarters,,,
The atmosphere was tense as Major Aizen gathered the team to discuss the recent strange incidents. “I’ve reviewed the recent occurrences, and they bear a striking resemblance to the Red-Eyes incident,” he stated, cutting straight to the core of the matter. Futaba, Koga, and Kuya had just arrived, and as the gravity of the situation settled over them, Aizen continued, “Your school was among the locations affected, wasn’t it?”
“Exactly,” Futaba replied, her expression serious.
“There’s been a government mandate to put anyone impacted by this phenomenon under surveillance for the time being. We are still in the dark about the cause, and that’s why I’ve summoned you, Miss Saotome. We need your strength this time,” Aizen informed her, his gaze already shifting to gauge the reactions of her companions. Koga met Aizen’s eyes with a narrowed gaze, disturbance evident in his expression, while Kuya seemed indifferent to the unfolding discussion.
Futaba, however, was keenly focused on Aizen’s words. “I was hoping you’d say that, Major Aizen. I’m prepared to do whatever it takes to protect the capital—I almost fell victim to this phenomenon myself.” It felt as if, in that moment, Aizen and Futaba were isolated in their own world, the weight of her experience connecting them. She began recounting the harrowing events that Kuya and Ginnojo had faced at the pond and the tower, as well as her unsettling encounter near the riverbank that night, drawing parallels to the current incidents.
“Second Lieutenant Oyama mentioned that you were near the river for an unknown reason and believed you were dealing with some form of Ayakashi... Do you have any evidence to support that claim?” Aizen queried, his tone professional yet probing.
Futaba hesitated, understanding the gravity of thesituation. “We don’t have definitive proof, but we’re certain of it.”
Aizen sighed, the situation weighing heavily on him. “It seems all avenues have been blocked on our side. We have no choice but to return to our patrols, much like we did with the wraiths issue.”
The trio exchanged glances, their expressions confirming what they had expected. Without further discussion, they prepared to leave the headquarters, determined to confront the mysteries that lay ahead.
°•°•°
“Do we really have to go on patrols again?” Kuya groaned, dragging his feet at the thought.
Futaba shot him a look, her brows knitted. “I get it, Kuya. You’re not exactly thrilled about it. But hey, at least we finally got Major Aizen's green light to jump in on this thing.”
“Yeah, so much so that he wants us to start tonight,” Koga chimed in, his tone icy as he eyed the darkening sky. His annoyance was palpable, and when he glanced at Futaba, a silent understanding passed between them.
“What’s up?” Futaba asked, catching the tension.
Koga’s expression hardened. “You need to head home, Futaba. Kuya and I will handle the patrol tonight.”
Surprise flickered across Futaba’s face. “But… I already sent my familiars to Aoi and Ginnojo. They know I’m going out!”
“Look, you’ve almost been taken by that damn entity twice already. What if it shows its ugly face again? Your life would be in serious danger,” Koga said, his worry cutting through the tension. It was clear he was still haunted by what she had endured during the pandemic, and while Futaba had a tendency to throw herself into dangerous situations for the sake of the truth, Koga couldn’t just stand by.
Her deep gaze met his crimson eyes, and then she flicked her glance to Kuya, who silently backed off, understanding the weight of the moment. Futaba let out a soft sigh, finally relenting. “Fine, I’m out. But only for tonight.”
Koga's stern face broke into a smile, relief washing over him. He gently ran his fingers through her hair, a gesture of approval that always made her feel a little safer, before they continued their way home, the night stretching ahead of them like a shadow waiting to be faced.
°•°•°
As they neared Futaba's house, a frantic figure appeared at the front door—Nachi, his eyes wide and filled with terror. He bolted towards them, breathless.
"Nachi! What’s going on?" Futaba called, her heart racing at the sight of his panic.
"Futaba!! It's Fukajiro—she's gone!!" he blurted out, and the sheer urgency in his voice sent a chill down Futaba's spine.
"What?!!" Futaba's scream sliced through the calm night, drawing Koga and Kuya's attention as they rushed over, concerned.
Koga stepped forward, brows furrowed. "Did something happen?"
"Fukajiro, she disappeared from the house..." Nachi stuttered, his voice shaky as he tried to explain himself.
Futaba clenched her fists, frustration bubbling over. "How did this happen? I told you to watch her until I got back!"
"I swear, I did! But she said she wanted some space, and when I went to check on her, the room was empty!" Nachi's eyes darted around as he struggled to find the right words, hoping to convince her of his innocence.
Futaba sighed heavily, rubbing the bridge of her nose in disbelief. "I can't believe this… why now? And at this hour?"
Koga broke the tense silence, determination etched on his face. "...Let’s go look for her."
"Huh...?" Kuya blinked, clearly taken aback by the suggestion.
Nachi's expression turned hopeful. "What? You really think we should?
Futaba glanced at Koga, her mind racing. "Are you serious?"
Koga nodded, his tone firm. "Given the situation, it's not safe to be wandering around out here, especially since she’s just a little kid. We need to find her now."
He glanced at both Futaba and Nachi, then turned to Kuya. "Come on, we need to move!"
Kuya crossed his arms, skepticism creeping back in. "So, we’re just gonna ditch the patrol? Just like that?"
Koga shook his head, resolve unwavering. "Nope, we’ll do both. We're not leaving anyone behind, especially not a kid."
"Oh man..." Kuya groaned, but under his reluctant grumbling, a glimmer of determination flickered as they all understood the urgency of the night’s unexpected turn. But as he wrapped up the conversation, Futaba suddenly grabbed Koga’s sleeve with a desperate grip.
“Koga, please, I need to come with you.”
Koga turned to her, his eyes wide with disbelief. “But I told you not to—”
“I’m not talking about the patrol!” she interrupted, her voice firm, eyes burning with determination. “I want to help you look for Fukajiro!”
Kuya leaned against the wall, shrugging lightly. “Look, maybe she’s already home safe, no need to blow this all out of proportion, right?”
“No, Kuya!” Futaba replied, shaking her head fervently. “You don’t understand, especially not with how she is right now. I have to go with you.”
Koga searched her face, his hesitation palpable. “Futaba…”
“Listen,” Futaba pressed, holding her ground against Koga’s reluctance. “I’ve known her long enough. Having me there might make it easier for us to find her. We can do this together.”
Kuya tapped his chin thoughtfully, his tone casual yet pointed. “You know, she makes a good point... Plus, the girl doesn’t exactly like you, Koga. Maybe having Futaba along would speed things up.”
Koga sighed deeply, a conflicted expression on his face. He remembered how the child had always flinched at his approach, seemingly wary of him for no clear reason. But Futaba’s friendship with her could change everything. After a long, tense moment, he nodded, his resolve firming. “Fine, but you’ve gotta stay close to me. No wandering off, got it?”
“Thank you, Koga!” Futaba’s face brightened, relief washing over her features like a summer rain.
Suddenly, Nachi, who had been silently observing, piped up with uncertainty. “W-well, I think I should join you too. I mean, I feel responsible for her disappearing, after all…”
°•°•°
The chill in the air made the city feel almost haunted, an unsettling quiet hanging over every street as the wind's howl filled the void. The moon behind a thick quilt of clouds seemed to hold its breath, like it might unleash a downpour any second. Futaba, flanked by Koga, and Kuya, plus Nachi curled up on her shoulder in his cat form, was still on the hunt for any sign of that elusive ayakashi and the little girl who had vanished without a trace. They had found nothing so far.
Koga broke the silence, incredulous at the news. “She saw everything?” he asked, his brow furrowed with concern. That was the cue for Futaba to spill the details, recounting how a civilian had been caught in the crosshairs of the mysterious ayakashi and how Fukajiro watched it all unfold, helpless.
“She was shaken,” Futaba recalled, her heart aching at the memory. “It was the first time she’d been so scared since I met her. I just had to stick by her until she calmed down.”
Koga nodded, but a thought gnawed at him. “I get that she’s scared—she’s just a kid. But why did she vanish?” The question lingered in the cold air, unanswered, as they pressed on in muted contemplation.
Nachi stirred, breaking the heavy silence. “Futaba…”
“What’s up, Nachi?” she inquired, curious.
“I don’t know if it matters, but…I noticed something odd before Fukajiro disappeared,” he said, his tone cautious.
Futaba tilted her head, intrigued. “What do you mean?”
“She was mumbling weird stuff, like…maybe apologizing?” he suggested, his voice barely above a whisper.
“Apologizing?” Futaba echoed, her mind racing. She had a hard time wrapping her head around Nachi's words. Was Fukajiro just out of it from what she’d seen? Before she could dive deeper into her thoughts, “...!!” a cold shiver ran down her spine, a collective dread washing over them.
“Over there!” Futaba shouted, a spark of urgency lighting her up. Without hesitation, she took off toward the source of that chilling sensation, the others hot on her heels. They soon found themselves at Hibiya Park, the unsettling sound of wraiths echoing like a nightmare come to life. The closer they got, the more uneasy they felt—not just at the noise, but at the sheer number of wraiths waiting to cross their path.
As the team crept closer, they quickly realized they weren't alone in this eerie encounter with the Wraiths. A bunch of towering figures stood alongside the ghastly specters, their forms shrouded in mystery. The atmosphere crackled with tension as the entities went toe-to-toe with the Wraiths, unleashing strange, powerful blasts from their hands. Kuya’s eyes widened in recognition, a chill running down his spine. “It’s the same... the same one I saw near the pond,” he whispered, his tone tight with anxiety. They knew they had to stay low and not attract any attention.
Despite being outnumbered by the Wraiths, the trio of entities fought like seasoned warriors, swiftly dispatching the spectral foes with an ease that left the watching squad in shock. The Wraiths were falling one by one until only a single one remained cornered. One of the entities charged forward, extending a hand, and in the blink of an eye, it split the Wraith in two, causing it to dissolve into nothingness. Koga felt a sudden grip on his sleeve; it was Futaba, her eyes glued to the scene, a mix of awe and terror painting her face.
“Futaba...?” Koga murmured, taken aback by her intense focus. “It’s that...” she stammered, voice trembling as she zeroed in on the entity wielding a sharp spear, the same one she'd encountered by the riverbank not long ago. The raw energy radiating from it was unlike anything she’d ever felt, sending shivers down her spine.
“I don’t wanna sound like a chicken here, but maybe we should bail quietly?” Nachi suggested, his voice shaky with fear, and everyone nodded in agreement. Just as they prepared to sneak away, Kuya squinted into the shadows. “Where did they go...?” he asked cautiously, and they all turned to see that the entities had vanished without a trace, the air heavy with an unsettling silence.
Despite the impulse to leave, curiosity got the better of them. They decided to investigate further, with Nachi in his human form leading the charge. “Their speed is insane, even when they disappear like that,” Koga remarked, glancing around. Kuya shot Futaba a look, hopeful for answers. “Are you sure they’re linked to what’s happening to folks in the capital?” he pressed, but Futaba was lost in her thoughts, still reeling from the last moments.
“What’re you searching for?” Nachi asked, his brow furrowed. Futaba scanned the ground intently. “There’s sand here,” she replied, confusion etching her features. “They always leave behind a trail of sand when they somehow disappear.” A realization dawned on her:
If they left no trace, it meant something more sinister...

Partial description of Sep 2 2022 river incident (Oct 22)
(tw near-death experience, drowning, fear, life-threatening danger, anxiety, trauma)
(copied from Twitter thread on October 22 2022)
I hope I haven't been unclear about this on here, but the near death experience from almost drowning has actually been far more severely damaging to me emotionally than I've made it out to be. Like, however well I make it seem like I'm keeping it together, it has been hard
(I am not sure I seem like I'm keeping it together. Idk)
I mean it's been two months and I am completely useless over this
I have had traumatic things happen that, while not as apparently severe as this, did pull a lot of unexpected things into my long-term memory from the surroundings. Things like remembering every word of a poem because I once completely blanked on it in front of class in 9th grade
That comes to bear on this issue because the event itself was bookended by two and a half hours of kayaking, and *after it had happened and I almost died and saw that* I immediately had to get back in and kayak down the river for another two hours in the same conditions
So that may be part of why I'm frequently thinking about the properties of the river, frequently recalling an image right in front of my face of what it looks like to be looking down the river, aware that this river is a very frightening place, and aware that it represents death
We know that at that point of the river the water level had to be deeper than 6 feet because Heather's feet did not touch the riverbed as she was treading water
Also nobody else there cares about any of this and when we asked others on the mostly unmarked river how long it was until it reached the end, they repeatedly told us "oh you're just about halfway!" at points that were actually anywhere from 3 to 7 miles
Suggesting that even they could not narrow down something like the length of a river beyond the range of somewhere between 6-14 miles long. Competent
Reviews of the kayak rental vendor indicate several people had to pull over out of the river and exit due to impassable conditions. At least one person reported exiting via land. This map shows multiple routes of land exit available immediately before the incident occurred
Tumblr media Tumblr media
At the time before the event, including before we got to this segment which offered multiple possibilities of exit on land, I said this might be necessary due to worsening conditions and I was told by everyone present that this was not possible
So this was entirely preventable, and I actually tried to prevent this happening several times before it did happen, and others around me made sure those conditions would remain unchanged, and then I almost died, and then they told me I still had to kayak the two hours out. Any one person could have stopped this from happening to me and they passed on several opportunities even once it became clear that this route was now challenging even to experienced kayakers
Why would you go kayaking when you don't know how to swim, Zinnia? You know what, before we even got halfway I began to understand this was a bad idea too, and I tried to leave, meaning I tried to stop myself and, belatedly, make the decision you would want me to ideally make
So the ones to point the finger at in that situation would be, oddly enough, everyone who's not me
I tried to stop dangerous conditions from happening to me. When I wasn't allowed to, I tried to stop us from running into anything. When I failed and hit a tree and fell out, I tried to stop myself from drowning despite not knowing how to swim. I succeeded where others failed me. That's not me being irresponsible and not knowing how to swim, that's me taking the responsibility of trying to manage around that issue in several different ways throughout the day and during the event itself even if I haven't figured out how to swim despite years of tutoring. Responsibility doesn't stop and end with me, it also doesn't stop and end with just making sure you can swim. It extends to a lot of people and a lot of decisions. I'm still struggling to understand how I'm supposed to be so at fault for what happened to me. I didn't want to die. Have you ever just not wanted to die? It's such an experience to feel it happening to you, to know everyone saw it happening, and see that everyone just does not care and expects you to keep going down that way when you could fall out in another 20 meters and die again
Here's the thing: Right after it had happened I assumed they would take me seriously about the issues I had raised due to what had just happened and me being fairly correct about it being a problem. I assumed they would now understand there was a hazard. Not so. Do you even know what that does to your trust in people? To your ability to believe that any person cares about you continuing to be alive at all? I'm still trying to analyze from every direction some infinitesimally thin slice of that river and an instant in time where something that's still largely incomprehensible happened to me at the edge of my own existence. Everyone else seems scarcely aware anything happened at all
Can you just get over it, Zinnia? So I'm working on a definitive account of the event and what I saw when it happens ("void NDE"), I'm continuing to document all of the relevant circumstances, I'm reading the experiences of others, I'm looking through pictures of the river all the time, I'm drinking
What exactly am I supposed to do? Just have that not have happened to me? I already tried to stop it from happening to me. Briefly, the "near death experience" I had was that when you die you go nowhere, it was not the ones with feelings of calm and traveling towards light, this was reality and you stop existing when your body is destroyed and I saw it about to happen to me
I've had to *look* for people who've seen this and understand this feeling and I have found them, but only on occasion, and so this isn't an experience of near-death extreme psychological shock that's relatable to most people - or even most people who've almost died
I have never felt more fundamentally alone as a conscious entity in the world than I have since September 2 because I know now that when your self and everything you are comes to an end, there is no one and nothing else there, you are always alone when it happens to you
I haven't found anything yet that does a thing to put a dent in that feeling. I was alone, and functionally, I am alone because it can happen at any time and when it does it's going to be of foremost concern to me, because others won't be the ones who are annihilated
I'm literally just a floating point-of-view in a *frightening* one-story-house of reality with nowhere to go up or down, and it's ready to close in on you from all sides almost faster than you can realize it's happening
So, I'm sorry, I'm somehow supposed to *not* be thinking about that constantly? My chief task is now to indefinitely find ways of living the rest of my life without that being front and center every day? I'm not sure there's a way to not be very aware of that, but because I'm not sure, I'm looking for ways to address this just to make sure I've done everything I can that could make this somehow manageable in terms of mental health and being able to function
It's been 51 days now where I wake up knowing this with certainty about how reality works, knowing for sure that human life is finite and there is not "maybe a chance" you get to persist in some other form, and I knew all of these facts before, but now I know it's still so scary
It's so bad in ways that can't be conveyed without it happening to you, it's just the worst thing I've ever felt to the point that I'm thinking about it constantly, and I don't have that happen about a *lot* of very bad and frightening things that had happened to me before
It's a knowledge I had, now reinforced knowledge through something having happened that was outside the normal experience of reality. The traditional words for this are faith, belief, or spiritual experience, but this wasn't a belief or an effort of faith. It was forced on me
It was a transcendent experience that transcended life and existence into nothingness. I only believe in the annihilation. The fact that I still get up after all of that and tell myself "Well okay. Go fight transphobes" is a testament to some kind of absurdism
If you see pictures of a place and it looks like this, and you go there, you could end up like me. I'm not just saying you don't want to die, I'm saying you don't want to end up like whatever I am now
Tumblr media
Not only do you need to make sure you don't die for as long as possible, you need to make sure you don't even get into situations where you're facing imminent death but survive because awareness of death is itself a severe psychic hazard
What I'm trying to warn you about is that once you've seen it and know what happens, you know it's everywhere and you will never be able to forget it or what it feels like. And it feels like that everywhere
Representative photos from others of the river, this is roughly what it looks like on the day you have this experience

Ghostbusters: Port Huron (Episode 7)
Episode 7: The Edison Inn
Date: August 24th, 1998
Incident Report by Eric
I want it on the record that I strongly dislike any man who, this close to the turn of the millennium, wears tweed by choice.
His name is Stanley Richardson. He is the current managing head of staff at the Edison Inn. Since PoHo is the childhood home of Thomas Edison (childhood as in ‘he spent some of his life here but left before he did anything notable but we’re going to take credit for that anyway’) we’ve got a few things in town named after the man. The Edison Museum is more about the railroads that used to bring business and goods through Port Huron and gets by existing on the excuse that Edison liked trains as a kid. Really, what kid doesn’t like trains though?
But the Edison Inn lives off the man’s reputation in his later years in that it is big, showy, and very expensive. One of Port Huron’s few BIG venues for fancy to dos. As such, the staff there can be somewhat tightly wound. Or, in Stanley’s case, downright cracked.
This is not our first visit to the Edison Inn. We were here a few weeks ago on what turned out to be absolutely nothing. Not even an actual plumbing emergency as we sometimes get, just… nothing. Stanley is convinced that there’s some sort of ghostly draft in the ballroom that overlooks the river, but we waved PKE Meters in there for about an hour and didn’t find anything. We recommended he call a building inspector and get the windows checked and went on our merry way.
But he calls us this morning, asking for another ‘evaluation’. There’s a wedding coming up, he says, big event, lots of money, using the Inn as a reception venue and he wants to be sure everything is in order. Okay, fine. He’s willing to pay us, and it probably won’t be a day where I get slime vomited all over me, so off we go.
We swept the rooms and hallways, but everything starts to go wrong in the ballroom. We’ve swept the place with PKE Meters and the Ecto Goggles and, again, came up with nothing. Then Bryan stumbled on an honest to God secret passage. I thought Stanley’s little tweed chest was going to collapse. The passage leads to some stairs that go way, way down. Amber claims it was over sixty steps, and I don’t know what that is in stories but it’s a lot. At the bottom of the stairs is a large, sealed door.
Jeremy gets to work on that, and I ditch my Proton Pack to run all the way back up to keep Stanley in the loop. When I get up there, this happens:
“Stanley,” I said, trying to fake a smile, “we found the bottom. You wouldn’t happen to have a key for any doors that may be down there, would you?”
But Stanley just sniffs and looks down his nose at me, which is impressive considering I’m taller by about a foot and a half. “Actually, I would like your crew to clear out.”
“Clear out? We just got down there! Come on, Stanley, we’re not charging you extra for the spelunking, let’s see what’s down there and put your fears to rest.”
“No!” he snaps, which in my experience is a bit unlike him. Stan comes off as super nervous and eager to please, a bit of a doormat, so to have him show backbone is odd. “I want you OUT! All of you!”
I shrugged. I’m not THAT invested in this job. But then, from the secret door, there’s this hellacious noise. One that seemed familiar, and then the screaming started.
I didn’t even think, I just bolted back to the passage only to get my ass kicked clear over my head. Something big rushed past me and into the ballroom, and I hit my head hard enough on something that I’m not entirely able to make out what the hell is happening before Amber arrives and helps me to my feet.
In the ballroom, more screaming. THAT’S what I would expect from Stanley. He’s getting batted around by our old friend from the railway tunnel: the big horse with the bat wings. Not what I expected today, but let’s go. I owe this thing for my massive headache.
But I left my Proton Pack downstairs. Whoops. Amber sets about distracting it with some well-aimed blasts, trying to get it away from Stanley, and Jeremy meets me coming up hauling both his Pack and mine. I don’t even bother to fasten all the straps as I run back to the ballroom with him and we proceed to light this stupid horse up.
Was there collateral damage? Yes. Most of the windows, one out of three chandeliers, and one very large set of curtains all either exploded, crashed or caught fire, but I got the paperwork signed this time beforehand. Stanley had hightailed it out of the room as we drew its attention, trying to trade its focus between us as we wore it down with shots and streams.
This thing was a lot tougher than last time, though. It took all three of us to wrangle the beast while also fumbling around to place either of our traps correctly in the rapidly accumulating debris. Bryan finally decided to join us and contribute, blasting a finely carved oak bar into splinters before activating the trap and sucking the thing inside.
What Bryan HAD been doing was checking out what was beyond the door. That thing had come through when Jeremy managed to pop it open, and Bryan had figured it was best to see where it came from rather than to, y’know, stop it. Jackass.
Still, I’m glad he did. He described a long, thin tunnel that terminated in an access door to the old Sarnia railway tunnel, where we fought this thing the first time.
I don’t get paid enough to look into the connection too deeply. That’s what Bryan is for, but I’ll admit I’m curious. Maybe I’ll look up a few things on my own, like leases and deeds. Maybe it isn’t about WHERE things are, but WHO put them there.
End of report.
ADDITIONAL: I am going to institute a fitness program headed up by Amber because this team needs one, apparently. There have been too many incidents of my employees being taken out of action by being knocked over or having to overcome stairs. It is very inefficient and easily fixable. – Stephen Kaye

Note
It’s nothing too big!
I just break it down into a few simple steps
First, choose a base location
The labyrinths are supposed to be reflections of the heart, so don’t be afraid to go abstract! I go off of a location or feeling that would’ve been quite influential to the magi and just multiply it by ten. As an example let’s look at Charlotte. Nagisa’s most important location was the hospital her mother was in, but she also held a lot of contempt towards her mother. As a result, her labyrinth is a hospital covered in sweets and desserts, as if she’s trying to cover up and hide the place she loathes oh so much.
We can also see this in your Sunny witch. Although a concert hall may be more common as a labyrinth for him, the most influential event happened in a stair well. So the barrier is a tangled mass of stairs ascending upwards where Sunny pushed his sister. The witch lives in eternal agony, so it makes sense they would be repeating the incident that scarred him so.
Second, consider the mental state of the magi before they became a witch
What were some of the personality traits that affected them so much? Turn it into symbolism for the barrier to possess! Within Candeloro’s barrier exists multiple apple trees and bloody rivers. These both refer to Mami’s clinging to life. Apples in Norse mythology kept the gods young so they can continue to function at their prime, and the blood rivers are referring to veins and how blood is essential to keep living. Oktavia’s main concert hall is circular with her at the middle and all the seats are an eye catching red. Sayaka, more than anything, wanted for her love to notice her, so she is at the “centre” of attention and all the seats are the colour that is mainly used to catch someone’s attention.
In my hypothetical Herobrine barrier, I made sure that Herobrine’s desire for both obscurity and prey are highlighted with the fog that blankets in the inner workings of a barrier. He seems sadistic, so I made the monitors around the barrier be his fallen victims, because of COURSE he would be keeping trophies of his kills.
Another factor to add is: just make them miserable. Witches are surrounded by factors that make them miserable. Candeloro’s familiars try to run away from her, Charlotte can’t speak with the other doll at her tea party, and Homulilly’s familiars call her “Good for Nothing”. Give the barrier and witch traits that would make the witch miserable. Like Marcy’s witch being forced to face the facts that the fairytale world she’s in isn’t real or Sunny’s witch being forced to relive and be reminded of the incident that took his sister’s life.
Thirdly, How does the witch interact with the barrier
The witch lives in the barrier, so make sure you know how they are interacting with the barrier rather than just having them stay stationary in one spot or just wandering aimlessly (unless you have a specific reason why they can’t move or wander). Gertrud tends to the roses in her barrier as their main caretaker, Ophelia can’t remember Jack shit, so she wanders aimlessly through her foggy barrier, Homulilly walks through her execution/funeral procession, and Gisela is trying to reach something in the distance, running over anything that gets in her way.
Try to think of a unique way the witch would interact with the familiars and things in the barrier. If they don’t particularly interact with either, think of a reason why.
But these are just my steps, maybe this is a useless guide. But I had fun writing It!
Okay, sending some more barrier ideas, this time, for Herobrine! (If you don’t mind)
His barrier starts out okay, a simple lush cave, with moss and glowberries growing abundantly through the grotto, with a few torches laying about lighting the endless grotto. There’s a few monitors and security cameras protruding from the walls and from the moss, but you don’t pay them much mind. However, as you continue to explore the barrier things start to change.
Gone are the lush and beautiful moss and torches, as the cave begins to deepen and you enter a mineshaft. Fog and mist begin to envelop you and seem to swallow you whole. The monitors are on now. However, only static seems to play as game controllers hang above you like lanterns as the cave becomes more and more narrow. The only thing that reaches your ears is the monotone humming of the monitors.
And if you pay close enough attention, there seems to be a second pair of footsteps behind you. But every time you turn around, there’s nothing there. As you reach the centre of the barrier, there’s only one single arcade machine waiting for you. It’s static chip tune song lures you closer as you gaze into the screen. It shuts off, leaving only a black mirror behind.
Then two hyper realistic eyes stare back at you. Your fate is sealed as the witch appears behind you.
All that’s left of your existence is a simple computer monitor, playing your last moments until it just becomes a jumbled mess of tv static.
I don't mind at all- in fact, I'm really glad, dear!! I know words alone cannot describe the sheer amount of joy in my heart rn, but trust me when I say that receiving that ask made me jump from joy >w< Thank you so, so very much!!
Also I HAVE to know how you are able to write such ambience and create amazingly-designed labyrinths, because not only would this work within the context of Madoka Magica, but fantasy horror in general- an actual cryptid location that you really don't wanna be in! The chills that I've felt when I read the last sentences...God... /pos in every sense of the word
Plus, all the little details- from the moss, to the hanging controllers, and even the torches (every Minecraft player's toxic trait; placing down one of those fuckers everywhere we go)! This is all so...immaculately done- really adds in to how immersive your writing already is! Kudos!!
(also, ik it's kinda off-topic, but I also adore your interpretations of the witches' human forms! I really don't know how else I could describe it, but, like your labyrinths, the gals would also fit right in with the canon cast of PMMM and its spinoffs! That's some mad skill right there!)
