Hey so would Gortash ever do the “I’m the only person who could ever love you” thing with Durge after he got his mind wiped?

He would absolutely say that but also it is weirdly sincere, he truly does believe so

He (justifiably) believes that only he has ever fully accepted Durge with everything that comes along with it! He'd say that someone else might be able to love Durge but he is the only one who could do so without wanting to change anything about him.

"Only I love you for who you are and not for the man you could be."

"Only I have ever accepted you and whatever it was you chose to be."

"They might love the idea of you but in the end, I'm the one who loves the monster they're afraid of."

He truly does believe so, but because he is still Gortash he will phrase it in a manipulative way that separates Durge from any other support networks he might have, as he always did.

writing elias is fun for, i expect, the same reason a lot of people find the dark urge fun: I know more or less what's going on with her and she's got no fucking clue. she's a very information-driven person, and as soon as she realises that there is some largely indefinable difference between her and the rest of them she immediately starts trying to catalogue it and narrow it down. it's interesting to write someone who is so deliberately aware of themself and observing themself all the time

One time I was too depressed to talk abt my trauma at therapy so my therapist asked me to tell her about my week so I explained astarions plot in explicit detail including how fucking on his grave is a pretty significant plot point.

Really into the idea of Astarion being so taken with Tav/Durge before the Act 2 confession scene, but not knowing how to express it outside of sex because that’s all he knows, and for once in his life something that was synonymous with humiliation and entrapment and violence feels so strangely different in a good way, but he wants to try to figure out how else to express it, he just doesn’t know where to start, plus he feels v guilty about the whole manipulative seduction thing and isn’t sure he even deserves to.

i like the whiplash of going up to astarion on durge and having him worry about how he noticed you haven't been sleeping and it must mean you're having trouble w your urges, trying to joke around and cheer you up. and rthen going to minthara who immediately goes "you're a bhaalspawn?!! Love the idea that "younger, handsome man with a quick and easy smile" is just the way Durge describes him in the vision. Like comes out of it and talks about it and everyone else is just like whoa there did we see the same guy

If you're played through Baldurs gate 3 already I wanted to ask you what your opinions on chapter 3 are. I've gotten there three times already but just kinda stop playing cause it bores me. Just curious if you feel the same or what you think in general.

OK!! good question!! honestly, i actually really love act 3! though, i can understand if it's not to everyone's taste. also, i remember the first time i ever got to it and went to the second half of the city... IT WAS SO BUGGY DSUIHFDIDUS.

like the lag was SOOOOO bad. i had to bring jaheira with me because apparently?? someone said that would help fix the bug?? and it worked?? but that's besides the point-

i adore orin and gortash so they add to the experience and i personally think that there's a good chunk of things to do as well. also, i really like the fights!! oh and the house of hope has to be one of my all time favorite parts of the entire game.

(granted, i say all this and i havent even done all the side quests in it yet cuz i was saving it for another playthrough LOL)

i do wish we got more companion interactions in this act though... i wish we had more companion interactions in general cuz they're the main reason i play the game </3

OK, back to camp, post-Karlach-acquisition. (Karlachquisition?)

We'll get to Wyll's terrible horrible no good very bad night shortly, but first we have to tell Karlach that we crave murder. This is part of the onboarding process now. Standard operating procedure. Here's your key fob, here's your email address, here's your boss whose brain is completely empty except for a little voice that says kill at all times.

Karlach, of course, is a complete sweetheart about it to a degree that Rakha does not deserve in the slightest.

"I have no memories of where I came from, of who I really am. Is this part of ceremorphosis?"

Rakha always phrases the question this way. It's as if she's desperately hoping that finally, finally one of them will say - yes, this is because of the worm, there is an explanation, there is a reason. But she is less and less hopeful, each time, that it will lead to anything.

Karlach shrugs. "Hm. I don't *think* so," she says slowly, her jaw jutting out in a pensive expression. "At least, *I* still remember everything - in more detail than I'd wish." She grins suddenly, with that indomitable good humor that she already displayed back at the river as soon as she was sure Wyll wasn't going to run her through. "But as for what's going on in your mind, and maybe in mine - I'm certain there are answers out there. We'll find them together."

Is it deliberate, Rakha wonders. Does Karlach know how strongly the search for answers drives her, the only thing that can overwhelm the need for blood? Or is it simply a lucky guess, that strange open-heartedness that has no place in their terrible struggle?

Either way, she feels comforted - which is the most unsettling thing she could possibly feel.

"I am drawn to violence," she says bluntly. "To blood. Obsessions that could become compulsions."

Karlach blinks, startled, but to Rakha's surprise - at least based on her past similar conversations - she grins again. "Well, look," she says, reaching out and putting a hand on Rakha's shoulder. "You've said it - right out loud. That takes guts. The guts you'll need to change."

Rakha looks at her in puzzlement. Change? This is who she is, or at least the only being she has any knowledge of. It is confusing and difficult to control, sometimes frightening. But it is her.

Karlach hesitates, seeming to register something of what is going on in Rakha's mind, because she shrugs and laughs softly. "Or at least make sure you're channeled in the right direction. We've got enough enemies who could do with a good blood-letting, you know."

Rakha remembers the images in Karlach's head, and in Wyll's - devils with their heads severed, demons with their bellies cut out, the tiefling's wild rampage in Zariel's service and then, eventually, in escape. Yes, Karlach knows all about the necessity of blood.

Another lesson, though - not so far from the one she received from Lae'zel. Channel it. Focus your strength, your 'guts'. Find your enemies. Spill them first.

And more subtle, buried deep under Karlach's words, so subtle that Rakha doesn't even articulate it yet to herself - creature of blood you may be, but you have the strength to change, and one day, perhaps, you will decide you want to.

Tonight on Sam plays BG3 Durge edition

So there I was minding my own business, not murdering 1/2 of the best lesbians in the realm

When all of a sudden my shitty little butler shows up and tells me that I'm romancing Gale

I flirt back with him for one line and suddenly I have disadvantage

I know I, Sam, the player, am hopelessly in love with this wizard but that doesn't mean Wren is

Like I honestly don't know what Wrens type is and per Withers she could also go with Astarion and make the vampire bear sandwich that I'm leaning towards but damn

Cause Arachne was balls easy.

Gale had Arachne (and me) at "I have a cat."

I think Gale has best friend energy to Wren, even if it's just because I the player want to see other romances. And the reassurance to not let her kill warmed my heart. Reformed durge is satisfying.

I'm so glad she didn't murder the shit out of him and that I specced her to have highest possible wisdom. Ranger is dope.
