Another AU, I called it home-swap AU. Ominis was born in Sallow with his twin sister Anne. Sebastian, on the other hand, was born in the House of Gaunt.

I drew this concept months ago. My drawing skill was way worse at that time. I can't grasp the facial features of Sebastian and Omnis; I think I have some improvement, but there is still a long way to go.

The short story for this AU is Sebastian is the perfect kid for Gaunts; he loves dark magic, and he is good at it. So, his parents thought he was the future of the family. They used Seb’s siblings to test him, force him to duel them, and the loser would get the taste of Crucio. Sebastian never loses, so his siblings hate him. His parents never love him either. They only spoil him. He had only been cared for by his aunt Noctua, but she went missing. He got no friend, because other families are scared of Gaunts; they all think Gaunt are loonies.

This Sebastian is arrogant, cold, calculating, spoiled and ruthless. He doesn't believe in friendship; he only believes in power and threat. Until he met the Sallow twins.

Ominis and Anne lost their parent very young and were taken in by their Uncle Solomon. Although the family is not close, they respect each other. Ominis follows his uncle and has very strong moral feelings against dark magic. He is the opposite of Sebastian, which attracts Sebastian to him. And in some circumstances, they became friends.

Ominis only sorted to Slytherin because his sister was sorted to it. That’s what he believes.

Twins and Sebastian are very close. Sebastian stayed at Sallow House for summer and winter breaks. He never returned home until Anne got cursed. He is more urged to cure Anne than Anne’s twin brother. He can't afford to lose them. They are his humanity and conscience.

But Ominis does not understand Sebastian’s actions and gets angry at his friend’s growing interest in Dark Arts. Their friendship is shaking and gets worse when the new fifth-year attending Hogwarts.

The new fifth-year, Leon, is a muggle-born but inherited a big fortune from an ancient wizard pureblood family. Usually, Sebastian doesn't care about blood status, but he is angry to see Ominis take in Leon as his new friend, like replacing him and Anne.

That’s not acceptable for Sebastian.

So he picked on Leon on the first day of school and got his butt kicked. Nobody kicks Mister Gaunt’s royal butt, so Sebastian starts plotting something against Leon. But somehow, Leon always knows what he is planning and stays safe.

He tried to be friendly, shared his family secrets and helped Leon find those portraits. He started finding value in Leon’s ability and used Leon in search cure for Anne. Ominis noticed what he was doing and tried to talk some sense into him.

Sebastian became deeply jealous of Leon and finally thought to kill him at the Slytherin Scriptorium. He invites Ominis and Leon to help him find his Aunt and anything from Slytherin’s spellbook to cure Anne.

However, Leon knows what Sebastian is planning to do to him; Leon is a Legilimens, and he can read minds. However, he still went on with Sebastian and Ominis. Leon saw the pain and worries in Ominis, and felt Sebastian’s large void in his heart. Leon wanted to help them, so he stayed.

And basically, this is the setting for that chapter in my fanfic. Haven't explored more from it, or maybe I should?

Your teams are pretty good! Fire and Water Basic especially have potential for 21k. I’d suggest for Fire to try and end in 3 turns for better score since all your cards have been LB’d at least.

Omni Basic is also good. I have no comment except to use a support Lv.110 Dorm Rook as overkill instead of Dorm Leona, since you have your own Leona. However, it is more demanding rng-wise since you need to use Rook’s M1 at T2-T3.

So my thoughts on the matchups that are probably coming for Death Battle are;

Bardock vs. Omni-Man: Nolan legit gets a second matchup before anyone else in Invincible does. Still, this is a very requested match-up and I know a lot of people who didn't want Omni-Man Vs. Homelander wanted THIS instead. Outcome wise, its actually quite tight from what people are saying so a close fight could be exciting.

Bowser vs. Eggman: OH YEAH BIG VILLAIN time. Given how both sides got fucked in their previous battles (Eggman vs. Wily was a cop-out with Metal Sonic and Ganondorf vs. Bowser was a battle people hate the outcome of) hopefully this battle gives both sides more respect, especially since their villainy has been more focused on their cinematic debuts. Plus Eggman says "I HAVE COME TO MAKE AN ANNOUNCMENT." 10/10 there.

Light vs. Columbo: Not terribly into both franchises so don't have strong opinions here on how the fight will go. Still be interesting to see Tsurugi's spirit animal in a battle.

Kratos vs. Asura: What's the point of the Championship Bracket if the runner up still gets in? I know Kratos and Asura were runners up twice but still doesn't leave a good taste in my mouth. Maybe its a expection due to the whole going independent thing.

Ben 10 vs. Green Lanturn Rematch: Easily the most disliked outcome of them all. While a rematch WON'T change the outcome as DC is so busted there is no way Ben can match up to what Hal has done, hopefully the rematch would make things more respectable for the Ben 10 side, show off more aliens, and don't do a "Time eh?" which is still used for memes for bad outcomes.

Yang vs. Tifa Rematch: This rematch WILL have a different outcome as I'm 100% sure the reason Yang won last time was because Rooster Teeth told Death Battle to make her win, but since they are no more they cannot do that anymore. Especially as now people can see how Final Fantasy stuff outclasses anything from RWBY.

Master Chief Vs. Doomguy Rematch: Do it in 3D. That is the best way to make this better. I know why the OG was in 2D at the time but now we have different styles it would be criminal to not go 3D for this fight. I don't know if the outcome will change but since we have had new Halo and Doom games since the last match, that could change things.

And that's that. Of course the rematches will be voted on if we get the funds in but seeing how fast the money is coming in, it will be reached. So who do you think will win the rematch vote? Let us know your thoughts on the matches announced.

//I really liked Omni-Man VS Homelander; it is one of my top episodes, at least of that season, but I do agree that this was not a fair fight even slightly. It was more relevant at the time, but it's true that Bardock does have quite a fair few more similarities. For Homelander, you could boil their connections down to how they're both secretly evil superhero's that both parody Superman. But for Bardock, both of them are of alien origin (One is a Saiyan, while the other is a Viltrumite, both races who are known in their respective universes for being battle-hungry, near unstoppable savages), who are the blood father's of their series' respective hero's (Goku and Mark), and have complicated relationships with their families. Both of them also, despite their proven dedication to their race, betrayed their own kind (Nolan's time on Earth and with his family lead to a personal crisis, where he eventually questioned and rebelled against his mission and the Viltrumites, and Bardock, after a series of visions about the Saiyan's annihilation, rebelled against Frieza and unsuccessfully tried to save his planet), and both have been portrayed as both a hero and a villain. So the connections do run deeper with them, and it should be a good fight regardless.

//I already said what I needed to say about Eggman VS Bowser; I'm VERY pumped for it, not just because it's been a long time coming, but because like you said, Bowser and Eggman have both been kind of misused and mishandled by Death Battle in the past, so they both really need this.

//I have no stake in Light VS Columbo. I don't think it's gonna happen, and more than that, I don't know HOW it's gonna happen because neither character has shown any feats of strength before, so it'll be a battle of wits more than anything. From what little I do know about though, I think if Columbo could gather sufficient evidence without revealing his suspicions too early, thereby avoiding becoming a target for the Death Note, he could get the upper hand and win.

//Kratos VS Asura WILL happen soon, I guarantee it. But I doubt it'll happen in this season since it was on the ballot. Maybe in two seasons time we'll finally get it, especially since it is still an insanely popular matchup.

//And as for what I think will be the rematch episode that was teased, it could be any number of things, but I think out of all the previous episodes, it will be Ben 10 VS Green Lanturn that gets rerun. Given that it's still the most controversial episode of the original series, and Goku and Superman got a third episode to iron out the creases of their previous blunders, it's only natural that they get the same treatment. But Yang VS Tifa is for sure one that could get it as well; but I'm not sure if Death Battle will be running any more RWBY episodes.

//Speaking of which, I do predict that depending on how many episodes there are for this next season, I suspect that we might be getting Ruby Rose VS Maka Albarn at some point; maybe for Episode 100. I'd still like to see it, despite everything.

Annabel Ryder let out a groan and buried her head into the pillow. But SAM was persistent.

Ryder, there is a comm from Keema Dogurn.

"Can't it wait until daylight?" Anna groaned, rolling onto her back and wishing that the AI didn't have a direct line to her at all hours of the day.

She's insistent that she speaks to you and sounds upset.

At that Anna opened her eyes and rubbing them, sat up. A glance at her omni-tool told her that it was the middle of the night on Meridian. Her newly appointed apartment was still bare, it's not like she'd had much time to decorate it to her tastes since she was still flying around the cluster so much. Taking a minute to splash water on her face to completely wake up her, Anna walked over to the vidscreen on the wall and said, "Route the comm to the screen."

Keema's face filled the screen as SAM did so and Anna could see the worry in the Angara's expression.

"Keema what's-"

"It's Reyes." Keema interrupted, not wanting to stall any longer than she had to. "He was involved in an accident, or something to look like one and now..."

Anna felt her throat go dry and her heart leap up into her throat. Licking her lips she managed to get out, "Is he...dead?"

She didn't want to think of that, but the past tense Keema used could only make her assume that was the only reason she was calling.

"No. He's still alive but in a coma. We've been looking after him as best we can, but Nakamoto says that he might need more 'long term care' if Reyes doesn't improve soon."

Anna hadn't realized that she'd been holding her breath until she took a shuddering gasp, grabbing onto the edge of the couch for support as her legs almost gave out. Sitting heavily on the arm of the couch, Anna scrubbed a hand over her face to collect herself. Realizing that Keema was still talking, she focused on what the Angara was saying.

"-to come and take a look at the shuttle and area that it happened. Like I said we think it might have been staged to look like an accident."

At that Anna zero'd in on the word choice, "Wait, you think this was deliberate? Has his...other job been exposed?"

"I'm assuming that it is until otherwise proven. That's one of the reasons I called you, because you always seem to get to the bottom of things that no one else can. And I know you and Reyes have a...history."

Anna nodded, grateful that at least Reyes trusted Keema to tell her about them. Making herself fall into 'Pathfinder Mode', as Scott called it, she opened up her omni-tool while saying, "I'll be there as soon as I can."

Keema nodded, "Good. The Collective is at your disposal."

Anna hardly waited for Keema to sign off before standing and saying, "SAM tell everyone that I need them on the Tempest ASAP. I want wheels-up before noon. And ask Doctor Carlyle if he couldn't mind consulting with Doctor T'Perro on a case."

Reyes opened his eyes and for a moment, everything was blurry. Then his vision sharpened and it took a second for him to realize that the ceiling was different. Confused he tried to sit up but found that it was a struggle. "Am I drugged?" he hazily thought, mild panic rising in his chest.

Anna had closed her eyes for a second. Or at least she thought it was a second because one moment she's fighting sleep and the next she's opening her eyes to see Reyes staring back at her with a mixture of confusion and panic on his face.

"Reyes." she breathed, unfolding herself from the chair and stumbling to her knees so she could be closer. "You're awake."

"Wher-" Reyes cut off at his raspy voice, clearing his throat before trying again. "Where am I?"

"The Tempest's med bay. I-we thought you'd be more comfortable and plus Doctor's T'Perro and Carlyle could look after you better here."

"What-how long..." Reyes trailed off, his mind trying to process everything.

"I'll let Keema explain what happened, but it's been almost four weeks since...everything." Anna smiled and tried to blink away the tears that were forming in her eyes.

"What are the tears for love?" Reyes reached for Anna's hand, taking it in his and giving it a slight squeeze. "Was it really that bad?"

"I'm just glad that you're going to be alright." Anna leaned forwards to press a kiss on Reyes's lips. "I was scared."

Reyes wanted to do more than just kiss Ryder but knew from the way his body ached that it would be a long time before that could happen. So instead he reassured her, "It's okay, I'm right here."

"So am I." Anna pressed her forehead against his, glad that he was awake and that her and Keema had dealt with those responsible for doing this to Reyes. "So am I."

First, I'd like to clarify that Thorne Briers is an OC that I've technically had for five years! I use him in multiple universes, but for this ask I'll be answering for him in the context of the SHOH universe 🤺🤺🤺

MINOR SPOILERS FOR THE ALPHA BUILD BELOW!!

🍕 — What is their favorite food?

Thorne is a huge fan of food — one of the first things he does whenever arriving at a new city is to sample their specialty dishes! As a result, he has a lot of favorite foods, so this is a bit difficult to narrow down. But! I shall try my best to rise to the challenge!

Thorne has a notable fondness for Halek's creations. He’s always first in line to taste-test Halek’s many culinary experiments, and he’s gained quite the reputation for it. There was one time when he came home from a patrol around Haven, anticipating Halek’s latest kitchen creation — only to find that it had been demolished by the other Shepherds. He was so genuinely disappointed that his face, according to an anonymous source, "came dangerously close to resembling a heartbroken cat's". It was an expression so rarely seen on him that those in the vicinity had to do a double take.

Thorne loves salty and buttery flavors. He's obsessed with them. I cannot stress this enough, if Blest had anything remotely similar to our world's honey butter chips, he would be All Over It. As for his favorite food, he's extremely fond of salted butter tea — for the reasons stated above!

He also loves anything loaded with cheese, or spices, or both, so some of his other favorite foods include: Smoked lava cheese buns and root vegetable gratin (Ambryn specialties), and steamed dumplings in chili oil (Korgoth specialty)!

🥊 — What do they love to do? What do they hate to do?

WHAT HE LOVES TO DO:

Thorne would say something like 'composing music on the violin' or 'embroidering personalized designs onto his clothes'. And while he does like doing the aforementioned things, I, his creator, would have to say that what he really loves to do is... sleeping in!

Yes. Thorne Briers here is a very, very big fan of sleeping in. It's almost sacred to him. As a Captain-now-Commander, his sleeping-in opportunities are few and few between; but when he does get the chance, he practically leaps at it! Good luck getting ahold of him during the mornings of his days off — he refuses to leave his bed until he's slept at least 2 hours past his usual waking time, and anyone who tries to rouse him before that is in for a very creative, yet groggily mumbled series of death threats.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, it's a common sight to see him dozing off beside Halek to squeeze in some quick power naps during particularly busy days at the Order! Thorne's self-aware enough to know that once he crawls into his own bed, he'd probably never leave it — so he makes do by finding a spot near Halek and taking his naps there. He finds Halek's lackadaisical demeanor to be soothing and trusts him to have his back against any possible attacks or wayward insects, so they're well-known napping buddies!

WHAT HE HATES TO DO:

... Anything that involves getting up close and personal with crawly/slimy bugs and insects! It can really get in the way of his missions, but he hates the damned things. The sight makes his skin crawl and triggers his fight or flight — mainly flight — instincts like nothing else.

In chapter 4, the faceless lord is described to sometimes appear as a rotting corpse crawling with beetles and worms. You can bet that Thorne was fighting the urge to vomit for more reasons than one. Even days after he eradicated Buubas, he can still feel his skin crawl out of the blue — like beetles were crawling under his skin. That's how much they bother him. He can handle getting thrown off a cliff with gritted teeth and sharpened eyes, but getting close to those things? Hael.

And, yes, chapter 7 was a very bad time for him. The Bleakmoor swamp is a breeding ground for all sorts of unholy mutated insects; the chapter once mentions how Blade dislodges a nest of wriggling leeches when he moves a shrub, and I honestly think Thorne considered handing in his resignation then and there.

As it was, he just turned stiff as a board and did his damnedest to hide his discomfort — he hates appearing vulnerable/emotional — but by then everyone knew him well enough to tell what was going on.

Chase had to really double down on his jokes and chatter to get Thorne's mind off of the insect breeding ground they were currently slogging through. And it worked, somewhat! It's notoriously easy to make Thorne laugh, a fact that has surprised many who have known him. It's safe to say that Thorne's experience with the swamp would have been much more miserable if Chase hadn't been there. Later, after the whole kithma business had somewhat settled and Thorne had taken an unholy amount of baths, he would take Chase aside and sincerely — if somewhat awkwardly — thank him for his help.

❤️ — What is one of your OC’s best memories?

This is a closely guarded secret of Thorne's, but he's actually quite sentimental — or, in other words, a massive sap. The experiences he had in chapters 3 and 4 were pivotal for his development as a character, and affected how he behaves in chapter 5 and beyond.

One of his best memories is, oddly enough, waking up in the Reach and eavesdropping on Blade absolutely ripping into the Hunters for his sake. It was kind of an enormous "Oh" moment for him. The realization that he now has people who'll look out for him, that he has people who'll get angry for his sake.

Thorne is a bleeding heart turned cynic. A flash of clenched teeth and glacial eyes. Faith is a safety net he discarded long ago, the moment he wiped his entire village off the map with the utterance of a word. A once-child-now-adult who’s seen and done too much in his years of wandering the world alone. He's someone who refuses to be hurt, who masks and calculates and manipulates in his dealings with other people because you can't hurt someone who's not completely real. Though he'll mix some sincerity into his manipulations in order to make him appear a bit more trustworthy, he'll rarely show you his whole heart. He's taken the leap of trust before, and the fall had shattered his bones. Never again. He'll never expose himself like that again.

So when he wakes up from having his body — quite literally, this time — shattered, only to overhear his Commander, companion, and maybe sort of friend so furious for (mostly) his sake, it's staggering. He's almost bewildered. I think that's when he realized that he's in for the long haul with the Shepherds now; that they won't just be some paragraph in his endless cycle of meeting and departing. And I think that was the moment when the Shepherds gained his utterly unswerving loyalty.So, thank you Blade, I guess <3 Now that I think about it, Blade has had a massive influence on Thorne's development as a Shepherd, right from the very first day off they spent together. What a Commander <3

🧠 — What do you like most about the OC?

I like how unstable he is initially; how his journey with the Shepherds isn't as smooth as slotting a single puzzle piece into place. Before fully accepting the Shepherds as his own, Thorne had to give way. He'd had to take apart the veil of distrust and calculations that kept him safely shrouded from the world, and let them see him. See his scars, see his anger, see him as himself, not as the veneer of carefully constructed eloquence that has practically become a second skin — like a sumptous robe meant to cloak him and turn him into something invulnerable. And it had taken a long while. Hael, he had to fall off a cliff and witness his Commander getting angry for his sake before he even realized that the Shepherds had become people extremely important to him. Thorne's journey is one of change and new beginnings; of daring to envision a future shrouded in sunlight rather than shadow. It's a tale of learning to trust yourself as you learn to trust others. And for that, he is very dear to me.

“Here?” Laila asked, and Liara nodded. She very nearly always did. Laila smiled at Liara’s anticipation and stood up. Liara did too, seemingly without even thinking about it. “How would you like it? Should I call Nyxeris?”

“Not this time,” Liara said. Her voice was breathy now, her innocent, clipped Armali accent falling into something much darker. “Just us. And be rough, please. And - ” Liara shut her mouth on the request, which always piqued Laila’s interest. There was no place for embarrassment here. She leaned achingly slowly across the desk and cupped Liara’s chin, looking up at her. 

“And?” she demanded. Her friendly tone was gone, replaced with the hard-as-stone persona she knew Liara was looking for tonight. 

“And I want to stay dressed, as much as we can,” Liara murmured, that pretty pale blush back on her cheeks. Laila adored Liara’s body but she expertly hid her disappointment. 

“Of course, sweetheart,” she said, reassuring her with a flash of a smile and a wink. “Now get out from behind that desk, I want you.”

“Goddess,” Liara whispered, and then quickly did as she was told. Laila stalked towards her with a predator’s glint in her eyes, forcing Liara to back up to the glass window. As her back touched it, she opened her omni-tool.

“Polarise gla-” Liara started, but Laila’s hand clasped firmly over her mouth before she could say the command. Instead, the rest of the word toppled into a formless moan as Laila pressed her body hard up against Liara’s, so close she could feel the outline of the zipper of her jacket through her clothes.

“Don’t you dare,” she hissed, her lips whispering against the sensitive auditory membrane high on the side of Liara’s neck. Laila let her teeth close, ever so gently, on the skin there and felt Liara shudder against her. “Everyone gets to see this tonight.”

15 QUESTIONS ABOUT THE MUN'S TASTE IN MUSES !!

2. Are there any tropes that pull you in or that you realise are reoccuring in your muses?

I'm not sure if this question means tropes that you could find all across my muses or if it concerns themes that are reoccuring in them whenever there's a new interaction. In the first case I'd say that some of them have a hard time opening up and being their authentic self, hiding usually behind a snarkier attitude than most people. But that only concerns the muses that kind of have recycled traits from muses I already kicked off this blog and my old ones ages ago. So that's hardly a surprise. Like, if I split up one muse and distributed some of their characteristics between two or more, you know? In the second, ofc some of my muses have themes and tendencies that will always follow them around bc it's tied to their personality or life. Referring to Joe f. e. bc he gets attached very easily and hence, the risk of obsessing over someone is omni-present. Luce has interacted with many other muses who enable him in his bad habits and vice versa. I think Abel has only met two people outside of the crime network with whom he ever interacted and who wasn't the heir to another mob family, too. Some things are just more likely, I suppose.

5. Who is / was your favourite muse of all time to play?

Definitely Jeremy. Let’s just say that the experience at my old HS got me very interested in how teenagers can turn into the darkest versions of themselves due to unfortunate circumstances and the worst of timing. What flips the switch in their head and makes them spiral, closed off, a target, the antagonist of their own story and in the one of everyone else... that kind of stuff. A very troubled kid who was obsessed with the concept of revenge, totally caught up in his unhealthy, limited view of things. Spending his time in internet forums, living out his fantasies online and talking to others with the same ideas, rooted in a coping mechanism that grew into something horrible. I think he was my favorite muse to write because he felt the most authentic. Writing him was really some experience and paid off a lot, considering the movie project it resulted in. It got me into movie school and also gave me the life-long interest to educate myself on this subject and dive deep into reading and writing scientific papers, books, watching documentaries, talking to others who were involved or interested in those things. His character had a very important impact on me as a person & filmmaker and it reflects in the themes I pick up in my work.

11. Have you ever built or picked up a muse because you wanted to use a certain faceclaim? How did it go?

Haven't we all ?? xD Yeah, ofc that happened. I don't know, I'm a visual person. That's why I do films, it's what tickles my creativity and my synesthesia always spits out some interesting things I can work with. Examples on here would be Emry (the most obvious lbr), Max, Zelda, Luce and Casper and some old muses that aren't on this blog anymore. The rest either used to have a different FC or got it after I wrote the character. Like, sometimes there are those FCs I would love to write but not without the right character who I know is going to be a real thing. I can't really say if it goes worse or better than the other way around. I don't sense any difference.

How to Write in 3rd Omniscient: From Someone Who Writes It

We've all heard it, right. 3rd Omniscient is the hardest point of view to write. When I was in high school my creative writing teacher said to not even think about doing 3rd omniscient because it's too difficult and too confusing. And this is a sentiment that I've seen alllll across this site as well.

It's a crock of shit.

I've been writing in 3rd omni since I was a little kid. I was six, I was eight, I was ten. It's always been my tried and true. So if a little kid can write a mostly coherent story in 3rd omni, why can't the rest of you do it? Why's it supposed to be so hard?

So let me break it down into a few easy steps for you.

1) Choose your maximum number of POVs.

Every time I've heard someone say that 3rd omni is too hard, they talk about how when you get into it, you're getting into the heads of every. Single. Character.

No, you're not.

You are getting into the heads of your main characters, the ones who are important. So let's say you have a setup where you have a protagonist, an antagonist, a sidekick for each of them, and the protagonist's best friend. That's all the POVs you need. You don't need to go into the heads of the shopkeepers, the other friends, the henchmen...none of that is needed. It's way too much to go into every character's head. That's where everyone gets in over their heads. It's not necessary. Stick to your main characters, and everyone else is written in limited 3rd.

A lot of people would say this is still too many POVs: that's 5 people you need to balance. Everyone needs their fair share of the spotlight, right? Well.....

2) Don't try to balance the POVs.

I'm serious. The antagonist's sidekick probably doesn't have as much going on as the antagonist- so like in every other story, you're going to write them less. They'll get their moments, but it won't be as many. But it's still an important POV. Let me expand:

The antagonist decides that a great way to defeat the protagonist is to manipulate them into being depressed: if they can't leave their room, they can't foil the antagonist! And then they share this plan with their sidekick, their best friend, in some aspects, and maybe the sidekick, loyal as ever, says nothing. But they remember how the antagonist pulled them out of their severe depression, and the plan leaves a sour taste in their mouth.

Now if you'd decided their POV wasn't necessary, the audience wouldn't know this information, until perhaps much later, where the timing may be off. Or not at all. But now you've opened up two characters to the audience, and shown them that antagonist isn't purely evil, while also letting everyone know why the sidekick is so loyal. With the placement being natural in the flow of the story.

Yes, this can be done quite well in other POVs, but I'm specifically talking about 3rd omniscient here. Here, let me give you an example:

Hollow growled from his control room, throwing his knife at the wall. The knife ricocheted off the brick, leaving a few nicks in the blade. His eyes turned completely black, electricity racing through his body. Hollow's lips curled into a snarl. "I won't let you try killing me again!" he shouted, sounding like a scratchy CD. He pressed farther into Marvin's head, nerves crackling when the magician did nothing more than grit his teeth.

Hollow glitched behind Marvin, putting an arm around his front and pulling him back to his chest. Marvin gasped and tried to fight Hollow's supernatural hold.

"You were always the toughest one," Anti whispered in his ear, "but I'm going to break you tonight." Marvin's skin crawled with Hollow so intimately close. Hollow's voice glitched with excitement, stuttering with a deep rumbling hum accompanying it. Marvin could feel Hollow's presence in his whole being- electricity snapping at his skin and static flowing through his veins. It made him feel physically sick. Hollow felt him squirm as he took the magician's wand, glitching into his control room after he had a hold of the object.

Now you've seen two different POVs that tell you a lot about this 50k monster from a small snippet. If I hadn't given you the antagonist's POV, you wouldn't know he's trying to keep himself from dying. It adds so much more depth.

And I know, I know, you're going to say "But Ash! You can't put two different POVs in the same chapter! That confuses people!" So let me move on and address that.

3) You can switch POVs whenever the hell you want.

....within reason. Don't switch POVs in the middle of a paragraph, or in the middle of a sentence. Treat POVs like you would dialogue. When you're hopping from the protagonist to their sidekick, make a new paragraph. And as an additional bar against confusion, very often I often start the paragraph with the name of the character whose POV it is. This isn't quite true for the above example, so let me show you another one: (TW for some blood and manipulation)

Marvin didn't respond. He hated the thought that Jacob was jealous, hurting, or feeling anything negative because of him. Even so far as...Marvin looked down. "What are you doing here? I thought you had business to take care of." His words came out quieter than he wanted.

Hollow smirked. How lovely it was to see his magician start breaking over a human bond. "I wanted to play with you. I missed the taste of your blood. Chase didn't taste as good as you," he cooed.

Marvin felt dread pit his stomach. "What did you do to Chase?" he murmured.

Hollow giggled. "Nothing I didn't take pleasure in." He smiled wide, sharp teeth showing. Hollow slid his knife across Marvin's right jawline, a line of blood following. With his hand in his hair, he forced Marvin to tilt his head and licked at the cut. It gave Hollow pause when he noticed how much more potent the blood was. He couldn't have that, could he?

Every. Single. Paragraph. Is a POV switch. Maybe when you're casually reading you wouldn't even notice it, which is kind of the point. You don't want your readers to be jarred by the POV switch, it should feel natural in the progression of the story. Which, perhaps, is easier said than done. "So, Ash, how do we keep it smooth?"

4) Make sure your characters have chemistry.

These rapid (or slow) POV switches are much easier to do when your characters have chemistry. Whether that chemistry is good or bad is up to you, but if they bounce off each other well, their POVs will come together like bread and butter. Take Marvin and Hollow up there: they have chemistry. There's a tension between the human embodiment of a resistance movement and a glitchy demon who would like to mind control him. They think about each other. They know each other. They, in a story-building sense, need each other.

In essence: Character A and Character B can handle the POV switches mid-scene, but Character A and Character X will not. Character A thinks about Character B and cares about their existence (good or bad), but they do not think about Character X except for maybe once a year. Character X may not have ever met Character A. Therefore having the two switch POVs back to back would be startling, and WOULD be confusing. Keep Character X as a way to bounce off Character Y and keep Character A bouncing off Character B. The only reason a reader should really notice a POV switch is when you're switching scenes and have a scene break, where you then switch your on-page ensemble.

I would recommend this even if your main characters are a friend group. This is going to get complicated but bear with me here. Think about it: In a group of say, 5 friends, you're not all equally close. Friend A really likes hanging out with Friend C the most, and B maybe has a crush on D but considers A to be their best friend. It's a more complicated balance, but you want to keep like with like. If friend E doesn't hang out with friend A alone, don't switch their POVs back to back. Keep E as a companion to their closest friend, D. And you want to keep D with E, and B. B can be matched with A and D, however, as that is who they're closest to. If this is your set up you might want a relationship chart to keep track of who can go where.

And finally:

5) Practice Practice Practice.

If this is new to you, you might not get it fully right the first time. And that's okay! While I would argue that 3rd omniscient isn't a roadblock, it can be a bit of a hassle when you're new to it. But a few extra little tips here at the end:

Don't think about it too much. Switch when your character is done with their turn. It might be one paragraph or three chapters. But don't rush shoving them out of the spotlight. If they need to stew for a bit, let them stew. Forcing a POV change is noticeable, and jarring.

Think about it in terms of a movie. Character A is the spotlight until the camera shifts, panning to Character B and asking for their input on whatever is happening.

Make sure to keep the POV named. I said this earlier but it's so so important I'm putting it twice. Name the character whose POV it is. Make sure to do so as early as possible, so your readers are caught up. It's the best way to keep anyone from being confused.

She’s always found peace when showering. It’s the only time when one is ever really truly alone. It’s peaceful. Relaxing. Well, unless you walk out your ensuite to see the God of Mischief laying on your bed uninvited.

A squeal escapes her lips at the unexpected presence in her room.

“What the fuck, Loki?!”

The man doesn’t say anything for a moment, merely smirks before holding up the skimpy red thong in his hand.

“You parade around in these?”

“Why? Would you prefer them in black? Or maybe green?” (Y/N) retorts, smirking at his quirked brow.

“You’ve got sass.” He observes, watching her dismiss his presence entirely as she removes the towel covering her body and drops it into her laundry basket. “And one hell of a body.”

“You should know that it’s rude to, not only trespass into a woman’s room, but also stare at her while she’s nude, Mister Laufeyson.”

Within seconds she jumps at the feeling of hands on her hips and the presence of a body behind her, crotch pressed up against her ass.

“You should know not to tease me, little girl.”

“Should I?” She pushes his buttons, interested in seeing where this will go.

Within a second, she’s suddenly being shoved down on her own bed, ass being pulled up into the air.

“Christ! Talk about no manners.” The woman complains, cutting off into a gasp as Loki’s mouth latches onto her core from behind. “Jesus Christ!”

The man stands up and reaches his hand out to help the woman up, smirking as she stumbles on her feet a little.

“You’re not gonna just fuck off now?” She asks, quirking a brow as he helps her over to her dresser.

“I am a gentleman, you know, (Y/N). I’m not just gonna mess you up and leave you to clean up the mess. What do you take me for?” He teases, watching her grab a crop top and leggings from her drawers.

The woman merely shrugs but smiles.

“It’s nice. Thank you.”

The God helps the woman get dressed.

“So, how long do we have the pleasure of your company for, love?” The man asks, his voice not hinting at anything.

(Y/N) shrugs as she slides the leggings up her body, Loki retrieving her bra from the dresser.

“I dunno.”

“How come you’re staying with us, if you don’t mind me asking?” He adds, wanting to learn more about the little treasure that Stark has kept hidden for so long.

“I do mind, actually.”

They fall into silence, Loki almost surprised at her minor aggression.

“Have you known Stark long?”

“Since we were teenagers.”

He nods, almost scared to cross any lines. The truth is, he could read into her and learn all the answers, but he feels an overwhelming desire to not break the trust of this woman. He wants to protect her for some unbeknownst reason. He’s certain the others will feel the same way too.

“Well, we’re all lucky to have the luxury of meeting you.”

She smiles, awkwardly, but her sarcastic voice betrays her.

“Obviously..”

He laughs at that.

Once she’s dressed, the pair head out of her room and decide to go and grab some lunch. It’s merely unfortunate that Clint happens to be passing as they exit her room.

“Well, well, well. You don’t mess around, do you, Marian?” The archer teases, watching her grin and roll her eyes.

“You should be proud of me for lasting this long.” (Y/N) retorts, flashing a wink, Loki laughing at her answer.

“I don’t know if I’d say that, you didn’t last very long just then-” A punch to the God’s arm shuts him up, Clint bursting into laughter at the comment.

“I’m out. Enjoy lunch alone, Loki Laufeyson!” She calls, walking away from the two men who are still laughing.

“I shall, my love, don’t you worry!”

The pair watch her walk away, her middle finger up in the air at them both.

“She’s a treat.” Loki comments.

“She most certainly is.” Clint agrees.
