It is not a normal singlet experience for your negative thoughts to feel guilt about being negative thoughts

System host (different kind of system though so take this with a grain of salt) here. The evil alter trope is pretty bad (and overdone) when it comes to system representation, so if you want this character to be a system in any of the ways systems are caused in the real world (like DID) I’d recommend going back to the drawing board. DID can absolutely cause headmates who harm the system or those outside of it to form, but they aren’t pure evil and have ended up like that due to the trauma that causes DID, and if you do want to include a persecutor headmate in your system, that shouldn’t be the only headmate other than the “original person”. DID doesn’t just form due to trauma, it forms as a coping mechanism for it. Looking more into how real systems function would not only make a less offensive character but a more complex one aswell.

However if you really really want to do the “secret evil side” trope, don’t make it caused by DID or anything like that. Make it be caused by weird sci-fi magic stuff. And even then I wouldn’t recommend making any of the headmates pure evil. While separating it from how real systems work will help you get away with this, it’ll inevitably still have similarities that people can notice and internalize. So if you want your OC to have a secret evil half than making that half redeemable or not fully evil is the least you can do? Have the two learn to get along and accept eachother. But I still don’t know how much I’d recommend doing this trope at all, while there’s pretty much a consensus on the evil alter trope in terms of DID rep (the consensus being stop doing it), systems have differing opinions on the concept when it’s caused by magic or being a lab experiment or whatever non real life disorder thing. I see it as a case by case thing then but some people dislike it full stop. But I think an example of when it’s been done right is the game Celeste? I’ve never actually played it but from what I’ve heard it’s a good game in a variety of ways.

Also I would recommend taking inspiration from real systems and not just Moon Knight, systems online have varying opinions on the show but love it or hate it it definitely dramatizes how DID works. (For obvious example the mirror thing is made up, it’s a very cool visual imo but not how it works).

Also there’s a cool account called @writing-plurals that does what this account does but with specifically system representation, check it out if you want to hear advice from someone way more educated on stuff than me.

Hiii I’m writing a Star Wars fic right now and I needed some help with an oc, she basically she split personality which she gained from all the stuff that happened with order 66. I don’t wanna make it offensive or wrong but she has two personalities one being “her self” aka trying to be a Jedi and the other being someone who finds joy and pleasure in the Sith and just being straight up evil

I wanted to do like what moon knight did, like the two people in the same body like how they could talk to each other in a reflection or hear each other but I just wanted to ask and make sure it’s not wrong

This blog is here mostly to offer advice and information at the beginning of the creation process. Doing a complete read-through and providing feedback on a finished project is outside the scope of what we do.

Given what you've written here, however, I will mention: it's generally best not to use fictional stories as your only source on disabilities. Real DID is nothing like how it's shown in Moon Knight and the show has actually been criticized heavily for the inaccuracies.

Also, please note that the idea of a dissociative disorder causing a "good" and "evil" personality is a trope that has caused a lot of harm in the past and if you plan on including the trope in your own writing, it should be done with careful thought and consideration.

It would probably depend on your personal perception of things aswell as how much that creator/actor is seperate from their character in the source

Our only factive is a combination fictive/factive of both his character self and his source’s creator (in the youtube series way where the character has the same name and a similar personality to the real person), so he definitely counts our other fictives from that series as sourcemates, but I can see how someone who’s only a factive might not, or why they might still see fictives as sourcemates.

If you're a factive of a source's creator, are you still sourcemates with fictives of that source? What if your source was an actor in that media?

persecutors can be real fucking assholes and it can be really really hard to live with one. as someone whos tried to die cause of this shit, lets talk about it a little. its getting late at night so this wont be massive.

dont abuse ur persecutors more - do you think that the "i was abused and now am acting in a harmful way" person will appreciate more continuing abuse. try not to isolate them, lock them away, etc. theres a lot of advice like "dont ever" but i understand that you dont want your life to be in danger and you probably have fucking work to do

make it inconvineitn - if persecutors are feelong a bit stabby, keep your knifes blunt. make money slightly more annoying to access. hang around people who know. make it harder for them just a bit.

learn to tune it out/make peace with it - this is really really hard depending on what theyre doing or saying but if you can and there isnt much reconciling with them then this is a good idea. try to learn to not internalise it

talk to them - if possible talk about what they want or why theyre doing this. whats pissing them off. how u can help. make jokes. introduce them to life experiences. some persecutors probably are just malicious dickhats but most are not.

maintain a relationship - keep talkingf to them. keep doing this.

dont use a conditioning style of punishment, like if you are mean to em i dont let you do a thing you like or see the sun. this can be really triggering and framer you as an enemy, a threat, or just an asshole. they are not dogs.

persecutors reading: i dont know you. your systme needs to treat you like a person. and you need to try in order for it to work. i believe in you. the future can get better but u need to be [art of that change. maybe try merge dragons that helped one of our guys

thinking about that post about how yeah, it's definitely possible and valid to be trans without dysphoria, but also a lot of trans people are underestimating the amount of dysphoria they experience that has faded to mental background noise

and thinking about how this almost certainly applies to systems and dissociation as well. like yeah, it's entirely possible and valid to be a completely non-disordered, non-dissociative system, but I think a lot of plurals are vastly underestimating the amount of dissociation they experience because it's common to them so they don't even notice. I know that's definitely how it went for us
