There's something off about the prefect of Ramshackle. There's been something off about them for awhile now and it was difficult to pinpoint when, exactly, the oddities in their behavior started. The overall consensus was the changes started, sometime, after Malleus's Overblot. Grim too started to to behave suspisciously.

Regardless of how the prefect has changed, there is a bigger issue at hand on the Night Raven campus. Howling and wild animal activity has started to go up, to the point some students are actively terrified of the night. Some have come forward and expressed feeling unsafe with wild animals being so close to their dorms.

This concern was expressed to the prefect of Ramshackle, since their dorm does not have pocket dimension of it's own. However, there seems to be a dangerous lack of concern from all of the freshmen that have sleepovers there almost every weekend. This lack of fear over, potentially, being mauled by wild animals would be surprising, if the school year hasn't already been a disaster.

But, in the end, it doesn't matter the freshmen's feelings on the creatures of the night. They seem happier than every and their grades seem to be getting better, whatever they're doing is improving their lives. Because of their overall improvements, there's no cause for concern around their whereabouts.

Sketches of design ideas for Daisy's new dorm uniform<33

I'm having a complicated time choosing which one I like best so i'm open to hearing other people's opinions! Also none of these are official I'll have to digitalize a version of this to be official!

(details for my inspo and thought process under the cut!)

Bc Daisy is from the 50s I decided I wanted to use the dresses as inspo! You can see how most of the dresses have like really puffy skirts so I'm using that as a basis... Also I really love that one jacket, but it's just so hard to draw, so I might ignore it 😔 oh and the gloves!! I really like the gloves!! They give a nice touch<3

Daisy is twisted from Cinderella, so I'm also taking inspiration from the way Cinderella's dress is shaped (which, not a surprise since the movie came out in the 50s, is very close to the shape I already had in mind!), I'm also using my own old design as reference to keep the black details underneath the skirt, the bow and the glass slippers which I really like!

Since Daisy is from Ramshackle I'm trying to hint at it with her clothes, I'm trying to see if instead of that saturated dark blue I might try to color it in a similar way to the ghosts' scarves, and I always will make sure to add a bow, because Daisy's supposed to be matching Grim! But overall I'm focusing more on the 50s theme and Cinderella theme than Ramshackle😔🙏🏻

Well, let me take it for a try. How about some fluff headcanon about favorite things to do when relaxing for Diasomnia. I really love fluff about Tsunotaro!

Giggling, rubbing my hands like a fly. Four big guys. Headcanons are my favorite tbh, I love taking characters and mishmashing what I feel is right for them.

Lilia, Sebek, Silver and Malleus.

You said you like malleus so get ready to read pookie.

Lilia's obviously is hanging upside down. You'd think he does that only to scare people, but for him it's a surprisingly comfortable position to read in. He used to practice instruments for fun but now he has most mastered, from guzheng to percussion so he doesn't find it all that relaxing anymore. He prefers to sit in a dark room, enlightened by candles as he reads something. It's usually a romance, he steers away from any books he deems as fantasy due to thinking they're boring (and already reading the better ones a long time ago). Though, one time Yuu offered him a book from their universe. Despite being a thick and complicated fantasy series, Lilia read through it in less than a day. He was fascinated by all sorts of magic described in the book, having to take everything he knew about his own universe and reconsider if all this fantasy in the book was meant to truly be like a weird alternative version of the one he is in. Yuu never saw that book again, though Yuu did get thousands of questions from Lilia about said book.

Sebek doesn't relax. You think he relaxes? WRONG!!! He's always on high alert in case his liege needs him.... Though he does admit, reading is a hobby of his which he indulges in often. It may not be very surprising but everytime there is thundering outside he relaxes like never before, he himself never is able to fully relax until he hears that distinct rumbling and a deafening crash of light. Though he only watches from inside due to most lighting being accompanied by cold rain, he prefers warm places! (Canonically he finds the school's botanical garden relaxing due to it being warm and humid!)

Silver's weird fact about himself is the fact that he keeps a collection of sword handles. He used to keep full swords (and he still has some) but his collection took up so much place that he decided to shorten them. Blades of the swords were never interesting to him anyways, it's mostly the handles that were intricately designed. To relax he often goes through his collection and polishes them until they shine so bright that it's almost like looking into a mirror. If still needing to relax and his polishing attempts didn't calm him enough, he goes outside in order to feed the birds. The Diasomnia dorm is mostly surrounded by crows which always scurry around him when they see him.

Malleus is somewhat of a yapper. He doesn't get too into talking though until he is sure he can, keeping a distance to his words before actually yapping. Though... When one of the people he trusts more comes by, he tends to talk and talk about mundane topics until the corners of his mouth hurt from speaking. Even other people in the dorm fail to get to see that side of him, it's reserved for those who he can actually open to which isn't a lot of people. When Yuu came by he opened up to them due to a few simple reasons. Tamagotchis and dedication. Other than Malleus having one, Yuu carried about three on their person. He wondered why Yuu needs so many only to find out that two were broken and serving simply as keychains, he understood it simply as attachment to an item they deeply cared for. But for Yuu it was more of a "fixing it costs more money" situation. The two didn't talk much, occasionally passing eachother in the hallways. Yuu found out through Idia's doing that the little devices were compatible despite being from different universes and if given a bigger screen the creatures could interact. Everyday that Malleus saw Yuu, he silently watched as they paced back and forth while planning things. It gotten to the point that Yuu randomly screamed out "Eureka!" and other stuff in class when they gotten a plan on what to do next. Though with the two broken devices Yuu managed to make a scuffed version of a wide tamagotchi. It was like a small connecting screen which as soon as it was placed near a tamagotchi (or a similar device) transfered it from the small screen to the bigger one. Malleus was hesitant at first, obviously scared to put his beloved object next to something that looked like a portable bomb or a Nintendo switch without a casing. But everyday he did it and the two talked while they took care of their little electronic creatures. Malleus finally felt like he could open up, everytime he talked with Yuu he could feel his heart warming up to them. Eventually he forgot about the toy for a bit, only coming to Yuu in order to talk about everything and nothing. Hobbies, food, new things he learned, things Yuu may have not known, history of twisted wonderland... He finally had a friend he could talk to :)

This was long oh my days. This ask was actually so cute so I decided to yap and yap like Malleus. I think I'm getting more comfortable about writing to you guys because my posts are only gonna get longer.

Though... i can't stop imagining what would happen if he finally found a friend in Yuu and the next day they were able to go back to their universe bro would be mentally destroyed 😭

Also this got me thinking why Silver doesn't have a last name. Like shouldn't he have one?? And why is Sebek the only guy from Diasomnia from another place?? Like said place doesnt even have a tumblr tag 🤔

Genre/Tropes: Fluffy bird brain behavior & Established relationship.

Summary: Crowley has a bird brain, but you love him anyway.

Author's Comments: I just think that this is canon. Also I feel like I don't have to say this but just in case Reader is not Yuu. They teach at NRC. I think this turned out pretty well even though it was first time writing for a staff member? I don't think I'll do this often since I literally don't know how to write anyone except for Crowley so if there are any Crowley likers out there let me know LMAO I might write more of him idk yet.

It was no secret to you and the other faculty at Night Raven College that Crowley had a bit of a bird brain. He liked to spoil you in his own special way, with shiny rocks and pretty feathers and seashells presented to you with lovesick eyes. That man would do anything for your approval, and while it was endearing, it did get obnoxious sometimes.

Like, for example, when he slammed open your classroom doors with a rock in hand, setting it on your desk where you had been organizing papers. There were always little flecks of dirt that fell off onto the pristine white papers, but you sucked it up as he gloated. Or when you’d be in the middle of a lecture and he’d bust down your classroom doors again, holding a shimmering multicolored feather that he picked up off the ground somewhere. Your students would try to hide their laughter, and some, their exasperation, when he acted like you were the only person in the room. All he ever wanted was praise, and maybe a smooch if you were feeling generous (but you always refused the latter in front of the students. They did not need to see that, and the gall of Crowley to even ask was beyond you.)

It had left you flustered and reeling too many times to count, the little shoebox in the bottom drawer of your desk slowly growing full with his gifts.

And speak of the devil, he was here again.

The telltale fast paced footsteps outside your classroom had you rolling your eyes as you set down your pen. A loud thump at the door made you try to hold back laughter—that lovable idiot had run into the door again.

The door flung open with a strong gust of air, and standing there was Headmage Crowley in the flesh.

“Beloved!” he yelled enthusiastically, making a beeline for your desk.

“Yes, dear?” you looked up at him, an amused grin on your face.

“Here.” he beamed, placing a dented bottle cap on your desk.

Despite the grime, you had to give him credit. It was pretty shiny, and the design over the metal featured mostly your favorite color. It wasn’t hard to see why he’d picked it up for you.

“What do you want in return for it?” you shook your head, picking up the bottle cap and twirling it over your fingers.

“Nothing, of course! It's a gift out of my infinite kindness!” he gloated.

“That’s what you always say. Now come on, what would you like?” you stood up, walking around your desk to face him.

“...A kiss?” he chuckled, pointing at his lips excitedly.

“Of course.” you laughed, setting the bottle cap down on your desk.

Crowley was practically vibrating on the spot from how excited he was, the goofy grin on his face making your heart squeeze. He never failed to be absolutely adorable whenever you offered up affection—it made you wonder if the esteemed headmage of Night Raven College was secretly touch starved. Gently, you placed your hands on his shoulders and pressed your lips against his. Crowley’s hand found its way to the back of your head, the claws scratching against the skin tenderly. He really made for the best head massager sometimes.

You pulled away but he chased you, stumbling over his feet before he finally let you go. You were flustered once again as he smiled, seemingly satisfied with the state he’d left you in.

“Thank you, my dear.” Crowley cupped your face, kissing your forehead for good measure, “Would you mind if I made myself at home here for a while?”

“Of course not. I was grading papers though, so I won’t be able to pay you my full attention.” you hummed, turning away from him.

“That’s fine! I can help! After all, I am very kind. Oh, I’m so benevolent!” he beamed, radiating smugness.

“Naturally. Thank you, dearest.” you sat down to begin your work once again, the bottlecap glinting cheerfully in the candlelight of your classroom.

🐉Malleus Draconia🐉

(he/she/they/it any basically) Agender - Panromantic Asexual

*giggles, kicks feet, twirls hair* Mal... Anyways! Some of y'all probably been waiting for this one! My silly fae prince, whose identity may or may not be based on my own. Sue me, this bitch is hella relatable.

- So, onto the headcanons, I felt like Mal wasn't all that intimidating when he first popped up outside our house. Idk, I see a cat-type personality and all my self preservation is thrown out the nearest window. She's just a big meow. But I wanted them to actually look rather intimidating, making his bangs cover his eyes a bit more, darker makeup, whatnot.

- I know Mal is canonically taller than the rest of the cast but Imma make her even taller. Its 6'6" without the horns and like 6'11 or 7' with them. I want them to be a cryptid!! Also the height difference with Lilia bout to be crazy.

- I like the idea that my prefect made her some lil Howl's Moving Castle earrings, even though it obvious doesn't exist in their world. Or maybe it does??? Who knows.

- *scientist voice* The autism is this subject is astronomical. *cough* Yeah, it's also not up for debate. The gargoyles, the general demeanour. Yuu is their favoured person.

- Malleus and my prefect would probably interact a little differently than Yuu does canonically, as we're both silly little autistic people, but I'll save that for my Yuusona post lol.

- Really tempted to throw in that it has a forked tongue. Does have fangs but Mal and Jamil probably both have forked tongues, j st for funsies.

- Loves to read sappy romance novels, is giggling and kicking her feet at soulmate stuff in particular. Has a whole list of little date ideas in a notebook (totally not saying this because /I/ have one or anything)...

Not mush else to say give I've only canonically interacted with her like three times but now for everyone's favourite grandpa!

🦇Lilia Vanrouge🦇

(he/she) - Bisexual

- Teehee! So I saw someone headcanons Lilia as Indian and I was SO here for it, though I think he's be half Indian, half Mexican or smth.

- Gave this girl SO many piercing. I feel like she got them 'cause she was bored. Idk, 500 years is pretty old, ya gotta spice things up some how.

- Some scars from 'ye old days'(tm) and I made his hair a bit wavy and added a green gradient to the ends, just to mimick Malleus' hair. Also, this bitch stands a proud 5'3" on a good day (aka with heels).

- He's the kind of dad that makes his kids wear matching pjs during the winter holidays and while he knows his kids like the back of his hand, chooses to give them silly gifts most of the time. Also, he spoils Mal and Silver rotten.

- Absolutely tries to get Malleus to properly flirt with MC but it never works out like he plans. Silver just watches with mild amusement.

- Yes, I was mad he doesn't canonically have a last name. I figured that Lilia would have officially adopted him at some point or another and typically you need a last name for a lot of things so I just gave them Lilia's.

- I think that Silver's gray hair is natural and once it gets to be a certain length, it just becomes gray. Additionally, Lilia's a cool dad so Silver got dyed ends and piercings too.

- I actually headcanon that Silver's blind and has narcolepsy (though that's pretty much canon). It was likely from birth or manifested early on and as a result, Malleus is a bit protective of Silver (and Sebek is too but he'd never admit it lol). He has a service dog, which is probably a cute golden retriever named Aurora, and records lectures to listen back to. He, Kalim, and Ruggie have little study groups as second years. Also, Silver's autistic. Lilia really out here collecting autistic children lmaooo.

- He really likes to knit. Don't ask why but I think he'd enjoy the rhythym of it. (He's made Ruggie and Kalim scarves and both treasure them a ton) He likes to make blankets for Malleus and Lilia as well as himself. He loves to work with the chunkier and softer yarns, especially because it makes keeping track of the stitches easier.

- Owes SO MANY plushies. His bed is half dedicated to them, most probably give to him by Lilia for birthdays and holidays. He loves soft things so all the plushies are like squishmellows and stuff.

Ah, I love Silver. Onto our last canon character,

🐊Sebek Zigvolt🐊

(he/him) - Achillic

Oh boy, this design was such a pain. I literally had to redo it because I didn't like it. Though, in the end, I think it turned out pretty neat.

- On with the physical stuff, I fucked around with his skin tone a bit because it did not look right with his hair in my og design which had a more lime, yellowy green instead of the mint. I made it warmer and ditched the yellow green for the original design's mint, just darker. Finally, I thought I needed a kick of something so I gave him some violet streaks and eyes and BOOM! A Sebek!

- I gave him a bit of a rounder face, I feel like he wouldn't have outgrown his baby chub yet, and a single dimple. I thought it'd be super cute, sue me. Cute lil freckles, the works.

- One thing I am super proud of was his Lichtenburg scar (I believe that's what it's called, I've only really heard in in TMA oops). While I certainly didn't do it justice here, I'll be fleshing it out at some point. I think it's a cool addition to the character based on lighting, maybe his magic accidentally hit him or damaged him at some point idk.

- He is, wait for it... also autistic. Shocker, pun intended. He's actually AuDHD to me and has issues with volume regulation, which is real idk. Would actually also be sensitive to loud noise, as backwards as that sounds. Has noise-cancelling headphones courtesy of Idia. Malleus is his favoured person and he looks up to him a lot.

- Grew up loving dragons and thinking they were like the coolest fcuking things then met Mal and was in awe. Was a totally nerd about dragons as a kid and still has figures and posters and whatnot.

God, I love the Diasomnia characters sm omgggg. It's time for my ocs!

🪡Thumbelina Souster🪡

Third Year - (they/she) Genderqueer - Pansexual

She looks like Zelda. I know... but she's pretty!

- Thumbelina is 'twisted' from the loom in the story of Sleeping Beauty. IF EPEL IS LITERALLY AN APPLE, she can be a loom. Anyhow, I made her a fae as well, likely one of the craft fairies, just taking on a more human-sized form. She takes a ton of inspo from the og story of Thumbelina, as a tiny little fae she got separated from her kin and raised by human parents. That's why she doesn't have the 'ick' about humans that most fae have.

- When she got accepted to NRC, Crowley gave her access to a potion that changes her size so she'd be able to attend school easier. Her parents were tailors and so she grew up around sewing but could never do it because of how tiny she was. When she changed sizes, she immediately wanted to try her hand at sewing, official joining (or maybe founding) the sewing club.

- After intially joining Diasomnia and seeing Lilia's piercings, they piqued her curiosity and she got some.

- As a fae, she loves to be outdoors and tends to a garden outside of the dorm. She also rather oblivious when some expresses interest in her as she's not familiar with human courting. Lilia adopts yet another autistic child lmao.

For another character based on something mildly abstract...

🥀Munkh Sarnai🥀

Second Year - (they/he/she) Genderfluid - Asexual Aromantic

- Munkh is my character for the thorns that encircled Aurora's castle. Minorly abstract but hey, cool ass character design.

- They're Mongolian and I wanted the spikey aspect to really shine through, giving them liberty spikes thanks to my friend's suggestion! Wanted to go really punk especially because I haven't really done so in a character design before and I LOVE IT!

- She was originally going to have a Maleficent colour palette for the spikes but it was getting too close to some of the other designs so I made it black and red to emulate roses.

- He's a part of the music club as well, likely a vocalist or drummer. He loves the energy and the people are really cool, plus obviously his vice housewarden's there.

- They're also on the athletic side and enjoy various sports, namely Spelldrive. Also, she does own her own blastcycle and immediately bonds with Deuce over a shared love of them. Deuce and Munkh like this 🤞.

Last but not least...

First Year - (she/her) - Sapphic

Pspsps... TMA fandom... pspsps Delano...

- Kyra's my oc twisted from Tick Tock, the alligator(?) from Peter Pan. I gave her the yellow-green from my original Sebek design and it looks way better here.

- I think as a reference to the clock and like 'ticking', she'd have Tourette's. It sometimes flares up more than others so she has an agreement with the teachers about class times where it's acting up.

- I think she'd have like mild beef with Josephina because they met on a wrong foot during orientation but it's not a huge deal. Probably sleep-deprived Josephina said something insulting Diasomnia and Kyra was like, "What the hell?". They have a friendly competition going on now, every gym class.

- She's a part of the track and field club and is one of the fastest on the team. That being said, she's not a huge fan of physical activity and prefer to read in the library or study.

AOHUBCOEWHBVOU I love your Malleus design!!! Also, question. Is MH Malleus protective/territorial of this AU’s MC? If there even is one, or if there were one. I’m imagining an entire “fae kidnaps human from their world but human was miserable in their world and is happy to stay and is accurate to TWST lore that human is his first real friend cuz they’re not scared or somthing brainworm” wkehvbowehbvfowbvhbr!!!! There’s so much more I have in my head but can’t add in because I don’t know how to continue to articulate it. Also bcuz of the Howl’s Moving Castle it had me thinking and my brain went harbhejdbfvowhbv 😩😩😩

I'm a big fan of MC + Malleus dynamic in canon, and I'd like to keep these two on similar circumstances in this AU!

I'm getting two possible ideas here, one is if MC/Yuu were to be a monster in this AU as well, and another if they were just a human who somehow ended up in a monster school!

For the first possibility, for starters, I think Malleus in this AU wouldn't be as feared as he used to be in canon. Every monster got their own individualities, I imagine it wouldn't be uncommon for mysterious figures like Malleus to study in MH!NRC, so in the eyes of most students, he's just another quiet monster- perhaps he's shy, who knows? He does seem unapproachable, but on the other hand, we got plenty of folks who like to stay in the shadows as well! And maybe this change of how he's perceived can change how he interacts with others and with MC/Yuu?

If the MC was a monster too, then I think it would be cool for them to be the type of monster who could connect with him in a thematic sort of way, if we're talking in terms of keeping this classic Malleus + MC/Yuu dynamic. Maybe they're a ghost, and Malleus' stare couldn't turn them to stone because they're incorporeal! Maybe they're a gargoyle! Maybe they're like, an invisible monster who also can't be turned to stone because idk, they're built different and the stone stare bounces away from their body somehow lol

But if MC is a human like you said, maybe Malleus would be a bit intrigued by that. I don't think he ever got into much contact with non monsters. What is this? What do humans even do? If they can't walk through walls, fly, be a walking taser, breathe under water, then what the heck do they do? Stand there and be spooked? That is so whimsical, Malleus found out about the concept of being #just a little guy. It's true some monsters describe Malleus as having somewhat of an unapproachable aura, but can human!MC see that? Not really, since they'd probably feel disconnected to any and all NRC students to a degree anyway. So hey, they should hang out! And if Malleus is protective or territorial, that's likely from this dragon side of him.

But those are just some possibilities I could think of from the top of my head, since this AU is still slowly being built in my mind, there could be so many more ideas of how this could play out in the future!

Chernabog Dorm AU!

Basically before ramshackle was ramshackle it was an actual dorm!

For me I think the whole general theory of Yuu being related to Chernabog from Fantasia is amazing and I love it so much for many reasons!

(If you’re unfamiliar with Chernabog I have notes on him that I’ll link here, and some video links to YouTube for his parts in the movie fantasia)

anyways, i made a dorm logo! Say hello to the 8th dorm, Chernohyne!

Some things I added to this:

Chernabog’s horns, similar fashion to disomnia as him and Malificent are connected

His volacano/mountain that he sprouts out of

Ramshackles colors and vibe to fit more with the story for Yuu

Stone outside to symbolize Chernabogs likeness to Gargoyles!

Chernohyne roughly (I mean roughly) translating to “old servants of the dark”

The dorm in general is themed after Slavic architecture(because the myth is of Slavic origin), with a lot of themes coming from Ukrainian, German and Russian inspiration. Ramshackle is very boring to be completely honest and holds some German/French inspiration, but I have a headcannon that dorms are similar to living creatures in a way, where they are fueled by the students energy. Not to go too into it but after being left alone for a while the dorm now known as ramshackle had reverted and dilapidated into what we are familiar to with today in canon, even if in this au it could’ve have very well looked like scarabaria and it would’ve still reverted to what it looks like today because of abandonment and neglect.

Chernohyne however, would have a very stony look similar to pomfimore or disomnia, with a plethora of dark spaces, cold frigid weather, rocky and mountainous terrain, statues, ghosts galore, and mostly importantly to me, gargoyles or symbols of Chernabog himself!

Here’s some examples of what that could look like, I’m very bad at building design but it would look similar to these buildings!

The domes are part of the main structure coming from Russian/Ukrainian architecture while I’d imagine there’d be more German inspiration in the spires and towers that still litter the dorm. The most alike to what I’m imagining is the first image with the same domes/spires as the last one with browns, grays and blues as their color scheme.

Themes/Attributes of Chernohyne:

Members of Chernohyne are often seen as dutiful people, people who take a clear goal and run with it. With a seemingly unrelenting spirit they’ll latch onto something and focus on it. They are also known to be adept at spiritual magic involving the dead, skilled at flight lessons, a malevolent to stony personality ranging from tricksters to goody toe shoes. They are all connected with their desire to continue on and their innate connection to the night.

If you were sorted into Chernohyne you’d likely be from more northern places or atleast tolerant of cold and dark places. With a very strong desire to improve/continue on your path, wether that be gardening to the dark arts, you are very passionate! Friendly with ghosts, ghouls and gargoyles alike as they are everywhere in the dorm acting as both fellow residents and actual staff! The gargoyles only really come out at night though, which most of the dorm members are thankfully night owls!

Surprisingly, it’s not a rigid dorm. It’s very much a dorm with many rules and processes like everyone cleaning and tending to the statues and gardens, everyone making sure the dorms are clean and proper, acceptable offerings to the residents etc. but the dorm prided itself to being very much about the person and their goals more than being a true collective. In the times when there were dorm leaders that forced strict rules, they were quickly challenged and overthrown as the members would not quit and if you got in the way of progress you needed to go! And if you got rid of the fun you needed to go!

I have a few future ideas I’d love to expand on when I have the time but for now, I have an idea to make a Yuu oc that lived when Chernahyne wasn’t ramshackle yet/never was abandoned and became a dorm leader. They could have no magic but I like the idea of them having either a gorgon styled unique magic or a spirit rangler themed unique magic. Very focused on competition and furthering goals, with a love for all things rocky and spooky!

Also the idea of Yuu being Gargoyle themed with Malleus RIGHT THERE with a dorm basically surrounded by gargoyles??? Excuse me he’s secretly envious of that and also??? Yuu and Gargoyles?? Some of his favorite things into one this man is swooning so hard.

Ok, I have to defend Anonymous on one thing. I'm 4'8" and 35 years old. I've been called pedo bait and shit all my life. But your Yuu... you have an adult version on him. Ortho especially suffers from this n unfortunately is seen n treated as a literal fucking child by practically the entire fucking fandom but since this isnt the main focus of this post, that's another fucking story.

A few more ✨Facts/Trivia✨ about this Legend Xros Wars AU thingy:

Like mentioned before, the idea came mostly from me learning about Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger. It was around the time I got into Sentai via a friend's stream. Anyways, the idea of the past protagonists of Digimon TV Anime being mentors for Taiki and Tagiru was too charming for me. So then, i started drawing some older Daisuke design with a Xros Loader. It was my favorite thing to draw back in 2010-2012 lol

However, the idea of Daisuke being like, a returning character in the series kinda came from Power Rangers Dino Thunder. Look, i really liked to see Tommy Oliver as a mentor figure to the kids there.

Even more than that, the idea of Daisuke having... uh... "multiple personas" in this AU in order to hide himself from the real enemies came from Medabots' Henry/Hikaru. I mean, even the fact he works at some store as Lance Goldheart is a reference to it. And also the fact he had some "rival-like" persona (Mysterious Hunter) has inspiration on Phantom Renegade.

By "multiple" personas, one of the ones dropped in this new version is the Old Watchmaker disguise, which came right when Tagiru is attacked by a fake Daisuke and Taiki has a talk with the real one. The old man forces him to do that if he wanted to keep helping Tagiru, Taiki and Yuu, but since he was so mad at this, he just... Makes things worse for Tagiru on spite due to tsun tendencies.

That said, Lance's name is a reference to @ladyofthecastleproject story, in which Daisuke's counterpart in it is called Lance Duskstella.

There's old sketches which i lost with my late external HDD where they were just Daisuke messing things up with Tagiru as the Watchmaker, such as cosplaying it even after he's unmasked or reveal his true identity to Tagiru (Tagiru himself disliked it)

the AU version of Tagiru is not thaaaaaaaaaaaaaat different from canon, except he's more chill and has a detailed backstory for why he admires Taiki and wants to surpass his senior.

Tagiru also had a second design, mostly for winter season. Said design was kinda dropped when i brought the AU back. Read more of it here.

Ok joking aside😭 I ACTUALLY MADE A DESIGN FOR MY VERSION OF TREY... SIMPLY BC THE IDEA OF REDESIGNING HIM WAS SOOOOO FUN

I will ramble a bit on my desicions, my inspirations and the personality traits that I changed/added since I also wanted to do something else with Trey's personality, sorry Sheepie I just think he's a tiiiiiiny bit boring to my taste💔

However!!! Before I go on and on I just want to say, this is NOT me hating on Trey by any means, while he might not be a character I'm excited about, I do understand that there are people (like our lovely Sheep here💙) who really love him and care for him just the way he is, and I'm happy for that!! I just did this because i thought it would be fun :)

Appearance!! (Ryu from Kimi ni Todoke, Kim Namjoon and Kurosawa from Choking on Love)

I wanted to change Trey's hair DESPERATELY because I personally don't like Trey's haircut, I don't think it looks very flattering on him💔 So! I gave him a buzz cut!! While I'm always saying I love how men look with longer hair, I absolutely adore buzz cuts, so I thought an easy fix would be giving him a haircut that I think would be flattering to him, taking inspiration from all of these but specifically Kurosawa, I even gave Trey an earring like Kurosawa lol

I like thinking my Trey is more muscular than canon Trey, maybe even a bit taller? He's just a bit more buff generally speaking, I think that adds a fun touch✨

I also wanted to make his face shape similar to Namjoon, I made it a bit rounder and I also gave him dimples, which I think would be such a cute little detail everytime he smiled (which isn't a lot so... Hehe) :]

His clothes didn't change much, but I took inspiration from how Ryu wears his uniform, so I got rid of Trey's tie, but kept the rest the same! Also, I changed the placement of the clover symbol because I didn't like it before, I kinda still don't but? I think it looks better on the corner of the forehead

Personality!!

Trey's personality is lovely yes but a bit bland to me... So I took a lot of inspiration from Kurosawa, Ryu and even Mori from Ouran and decided to make him more reserved, quiet even. My version of Trey is a guy who looks intimidating on the outside, he doesn't smile all that often and he usually doesn't speak much, but he's actually a really caring guy, and helped Yuu and the others bake that tart with no problem really, as he wanted peace in Heartslabyul to be back again

I like thinking that my version of Trey wouldn't be like that when he was a kid, but he became more quiet after what happened with Mrs. Roseheats. So, my Trey would've felt so guilty for the humiliation his parents and Riddle had gone through, that he started believing it wasn't worth speaking out anymore, so he simply stopped speaking much ever since that day, he became super obedient too, and that's also part of the reason why he let Riddle continue with his awful behavior

My version of Trey would still be great a baking, and it would be a surprise factor for a lot of people, since he doesn't look like the type of guy who'd bake, (in my head Deuce even confused him for a delinquent, which couldn't be farther from what my Trey actually is lol) I think it'd be a fun detail to add... Also, I'm so sorry, but I'm taking away the Trey liking tooth brushing as a hobby... LIKE IM SORRY WDYM. THAT IS NOT A HOBBY DUDE. WHAT😭😭😭 My Trey is still interested in this very niche thing, maybe he even wants to be a dentist instead of continuing on with the bakery, but it's nowhere near the same level... His hobby could simply be baking itself

Ah yes Haruno Sakura my beloved. I honestly adore her in a way that I want to punt her across the sun for being annoying JSADGHAJSGD To be honest I do like her its just the way her creator handled her was shitty and undeserved the same way the fandom (*cough* you know the ones) treats Vil. I honestly wonder why people assume that Vil's like that *gestures to the bunch of mischaracterization people has for him* its weird, its like they lost their reading comprehension or something. Kind of freaky but honestly its the internet so there's nothing much we can do about it but spread the correct info to those willing to read or we can reach :/

Also I didn't think much about Grim's design at first but now that you've bought it up I can't stop seeing the parallels Between Grim and the boys because like the boys--those who have oveblotted at the very least--have elements of their suffering seeping inside Grim. We can see that in chapter 6 Leona's feelings of hopelessness through Grim after he recalls what happened. Azul's need for control/strength through Grim's actions during the prologue (his desperation eerily similiar to Azul's breakdown during his chapter), and etc., etc. But what drives this home is Malleus's--Your comment about his wings and him wanting refuge something that Yuu did give him the same way Yuu made Crowley let Grim stay by their side as their partner, their two in one. Its the same way with Malleus--with Yuu becoming his friend--his child of man. Also the fact that Yuu was the one to save them all/guide others into doing so just drives that idea home. And we love to see it

Thinking about the OB!Grim fight is making me think of the ghost camera since we never get to see it in action (unless you include the groovies but even then im not so sure...). What do you think it'd do?

The way OB!Grim moves in that gif kinda reminds me of two kids struggling in a big costume/comforter, it freaks me out thinking that Yuu is in there probably fighting for pieces of themself—

Going off of Canon information, it says that the ghost camera takes a piece of both the users soul and person in the photo and projects them—this could lead to Adeuce using the camera to project what Yuu would do in a situation against an OB.

It serves as way to connect the boys bc we've seen that they aren't that willing to work together without ulterior motives/Yuu being present—what if the whole NRC rallies in memory of Yuu?

Like past conversations between the entire twst ensemble, Yuu, Crowley and co. Instead of magic its the memories they all share that serves to deal damage?

OB!Grim takes double damage each time a memory is played basically while also giving the boys a buff.

I mentioned that imagination is heavy in Twisted Wonderland, so each memory also serves to piece Yuu together? We already came to the conclusion that Yuu was consumed by Grim but what if they lost their body in the process?

The only thing intact is their mind—its why OB!Grim moves so jerkily and the added ob characteristics don't react in some frames, that's Yuu trying to figure out what the fuck is going on while also knowing that Grim is overblotting.

Or they know they're trapped in Grim's body but they don't know where their body is, so each time the other ob characteristics stop or freak out its their minds merging at points because Yuu's struggling.

"I have no mouth, but I must scream" type of situation.

I'm just saying OB Grim scares the fuck out of me.

I wish I could find the essay I wrote about him a long time ago on my main... I'll try to paraphrase!

what intrigues me most about rolloyuu (and rollo to an extent) is that it directly contrasts everything about claude frollo's arc, and his relationship with attraction. it drives me insane

while their designs are perhaps the most similar out of everyone from the twst cast, rollo hardly resembles claude in... many ways. for one, rollo is not. evil. as much as the glomas narrative wants us to root against him, I just can't. rollo they could never make me hate you

there are a few key differences. rollo is respected and admired by the people he surrounds himself with, while frollo is uniquely hated by the citizens of paris in just about every adaptation. disney frollo is more extroverted, has a sense of humor, and isn't really preoccupied by manners or social conventions. he's impulsive. that's a major part of his character in both the original novel and the disney adaptation.

roro... my poor baby. rollo is repressed to the point of concealing his emotions, highly introverted, very formal, cold, he's a planner, and, more so, has a very sympathetic edge to him (which may have been influenced by archdeacon frollo, who is arguably more "tragic" than the disney adaptation). he's gentle, in a way. the first time we see him, he's immediately concerned about yuu's mental wellbeing. which is adorable?

there is no symbolic esmeralda in glomas because glomas isn't about rollo's repression, it's about his prejudice (which is an entirely different thing I won't bring up here but that I have many thoughts on). I've seen some float the idea that malleus is supposed to symbolize quasimodo, but I think I'd need a better argument for that.

anyway, the relationship between yuu and rollo is much, much different than the relationship between frollo and the other characters in HoND. it actually contrasts the esmeralda and frollo dynamic quite starkly, because yuu is a representation of "goodness" to rollo, rather than pure evil and temptation.

yuu is from a world with no magic. they do not possess it themselves, and are constantly put down by other characters because of it. yuu's inner dialogue reveals that they feel worthless and weak for not being able to use magic, and their position in twisted wonderland is so precarious that they really are at the complete mercy of everyone around them. the picture of innocence and helplessness to a guy like rollo.

there's this dynamic implied between the two. rollo wants to help yuu. he doesn't want to destroy them, he wants to save them, he wants to be their savior as much as he wants them to be his. it's this insane codependency that's barely developed in canon, but one that the fandom has picked up on.

there's just something so fascinating about that to me. I can't even rightly compare it to quasimodo's feelings towards esmeralda even though there are parallels, because rollo is far too absorbed in this fantasy of being a savior, of cleansing the world with fire, to be compared to quasimodo. but the tenderness? the gentleness? the self-loathing hidden beneath the devotion to someone he considers an angel? that's all there.

rollo is a great manifestation of both Heaven's Light and Hellfire when it comes to yuu. yuu is an angel to him, perfect, pure, and he's not. but he could be, too, if he were able to destroy that of which he considers the reason for his impurity (magic, which takes the place of sexuality in this context).

my last point about rollo has to do with Catholicism. I am Catholic. I was raised Catholic. it's a part of the reason why claude frollo is as fascinating to me as he is, because Victor Hugo was a Catholic man questioning his relationship to religion while writing NDdP.

every iteration of claude frollo, whether overtly religious or not, is woven with Catholicism. rollo flamme is a catholic-coded character because you can't have frollo without Catholicism. the entirety of NDdP, of HoND, would make no sense without the religious backdrop, and that religious backdrop is specifically Catholic. I could go on and on about how the differences in denominations effect their followers and why exactly that's important in this context but I won't bore anyone with my religious studies rambling much longer. anyway. I feel that's just important to add.

yuu would definitely appreciate carol's motherly personality! between trying to adapt to twisted wonderland and fighting back feelings of homesickness, yuu needs someone who he can look to as an emotional pillar. yuu would also really admire her diligence and intellect! i can see him asking her to participate in study groups and such since grim, ace and deuce aren't particularly helpful www. with magically-inclined subjects especially, he will have more trouble understanding those and will often seek out carol for help. since yuu's heavily based of the canon mc, he doesn't have any knowledge of disney movies/fairytales so carol's guidance would especially be helpful!
