Wei Wuxian frowns and scratches his nose with his flute. "I don't have one, really. I imagine quite a lot of people still want me dead. But not anyone important, right? Sect Leader Yao wanting me dead isn't remarkable. That's like a Tuesday."
For fuck's sake. That kind of forethought is how they ended up in this mess in the first place.
"I'm pretty sure my father wants you dead," he says.
Wei Wuxian makes a face. "I want you to know, from the bottom of my heart, that I care even less about your father's opinion than I do Sect Leader Yao's."
Yeah, he'd made a point of that when he'd stolen every Wen from him and set up camp in the land between the Jin and the Jiang.
Yanli rolls her eyes. "We were thinking some sort of secret mission to explain A-Xian's absence and special training for A-Ling's." Then, apologetically, "I had been hoping your father would be dead by now."
"I can just kill him," Wei Wuxian offers.
Jiang Cheng pinches the bridge of his nose. "Do not reenter society by killing a sect leader."
"We can also hide out as new disciples," Wei Wuxian says. He really must be worried about his brother if he's dropping it that easily. "Which might not be a bad idea until we can find out what was happening to all our letters."
There's a pause. Finally, it's Lan Wangji who says, "You and Jiang Yanli are rather recognizable to most cultivators."
Jin Zixuan is surprised that they managed to go thirteen years without being recognized, even with staying out of cultivator territory. They certainly won't manage the same now that they're back into it.
"Plus the several dozen junior disciples who already know who we are," Yanli says gently. "A-Xian, we came back so we could stop hiding. So our children could stop hiding."
Wei Wuxian softens. "Okay, okay. But then, realistically, I am going to have to kill a sect leader. Or two. Definitely no more than three."
It really says something that Jiang Cheng is his less irritating brother in law.

the only thing i still remember is that wen qing does a surgery to bring back wei wuxian's core, and the new core is from a wen prisoner who is set to be executed. the prisoner turns out to be wen yuan's bio dad, and he's willing.
i think there's another core surgery but as punishment? i may be mixing up fics since it's been a long time.

A) I think this one might have appeared in your blog and that's how I learned about it the first time. Modern AU Wangxian where they're retired/considering retiring figure skaters, and the fic is a series of them trying to have sex but something going wrong. At the end LWJ breaks/hurts his ankle really badly on the way to a cabin to have sex in Olympics gear, and then they get married.
B) WWX comes back in a random cultivator's body while LWJ is recovering from the discipline whip, and he sneaks into the Cloud Recesses to learn about A-Yuan. I think the cultivator gave his body up to WWX to punish him, and the curse mark on his arm becomes activated when he's happy, and it activates so badly it nearly cuts his arm off.

So Lan Wangji and Lan Xichen reached immortality and now they are living in present time where everyone has reincarnated. Lan Wangji has custody of Lan Sizhui and I think Lan Jingyi as well but not sure about the latter part. Both of them attend high school where Wei Wuxian is a teacher (I think he just transferred to the school but am not sure). Jin Ling also attends school with them. I'm looking for match-making fic where Jin Zixuan (tired of wwx constantly interrupting family time with his wife and newly born son) decides the best way to get him out of the way is to matchmake him with someone. I think he tries Nie Mingjue mainly, because they have similar interests, etc.
Jiang Cheng also gets roped in, but he thinks Jin Zixuan is nuts the whole time. NMJ thinks Wei wuxian is definitely flirting with him at some point because his muscles get complimented? Lan Xichen has to reassure him that "no, he is just like that".
It's a comedy of errors mainly, because LWJ and WWX definitely have something going on between them, and it ends with them running off with horses to elope into the sunset or smth. Jiang Yanli doesn't know her husband's matchmaking scheme, but she does know about wwx and lwj and helps them elope at the end.
Pretty sure it was a short fic, ignores canon and occurs in a what-if scenario where the whole burial mounds situation didn't happen.

Heyyy !! Hope you are having a nice day. I've been scrolling through your blog for a while and I absolutely love your takes and analysis of MDZS as they pretty much match up to my interpretation of MDZS novel. I just wanted to ask you what do you think about wwx's death at the first siege?? As there was no confirmation how he died but a lot of rumors ??? Do you think he qi deviated and his corpses turn on him? Or do you think he intentionally killed himself as was implied (heck it was shown) in cql?
I'm personally of the opinion that he chose to die because all the people he was in charge of protecting died in front of him. Plus his former (sect) brother jc was leading the siege to kill the said people. Not to mention the whole cultivation world for baying for his blood. He was traumatized, exhausted (both mentally and physically) due to destroying stygian seal, grieving due to death of the wen siblings and his shijie (probably blamed himself for it all and people dying).
So what is your take?
Wei Wuxian was killed from the backlash created from trying to destroy the second half of the stygian tiger seal. I'm using the exr translation for my quotes. In the prologue, we are told this:
“The YiLing Patriarch has died? Who could have killed him?” “Who other than his shidi, Jiang Cheng, putting an end to his own relative for the greater good. Jiang Cheng led the Four Clans of YunmengJiang, LanlingJin, GusuLan, and QingheNie to destroy his “den”—LuanZang Hill.”
A couple paragraphs later, someone refutes this, saying:
“That’s merely hearsay. Although Jiang Cheng was one of the main forces, he did not give Wei WuXian the final blow. Because he cultivates the Demon Path, Wei WuXian’s powers had backfired and he was ripped to pieces.”
—and we also get this, which while spoken by the narrator is given a speculative rather than conclusive tone:
Nobody could summon Wei WuXian’s soul, which meant that his soul had disappeared. It might have been torn apart by the millions of ghosts that devoured him.
Later on, Wei Wuxian and Wen Ning have a conversation about the cause of Wei Wuxian's death:
After a moment of silence, Wei WuXian asked again, “What else have you heard?” Wen Ning whispered, “Sect Leader Jiang, Jiang Cheng, brought a siege upon the Burial Mounds. And he killed you.” Wei WuXian, “I’ll have to clarify this one. He didn’t kill me. I died from a backfire.” Wen Ning finally looked up at him, “But, Sect Leader Jiang clearly...” Wei WuXian, “Nobody can walk safely on a single-plank bridge for their whole life. It couldn’t be helped.”
—Chapt. 43: Allure
Wen Ning hears that Wei Wuxian was personally killed by Jiang Cheng, and Wei Wuxian immediately refutes this and says he died from backlash. Wen Ning wants to argue this point, but I think, more than anything, that he is arguing that Wei Wuxian's death is Jiang Cheng's fault (the siege could not have happened without him being able to get past the corpses guarding the base of the Burial Mounds) rather than Jiang Cheng personally landing the killing blow. This is especially true since Jiang Cheng claims credit and glory for both leading the siege and "personally killing" Wei Wuxian, even though we know the latter is a falsehood.
Either way, Wei Wuxian, himself, says he died from backlash, and we know the backlash came from attempting to destroy the second half of the stygian tiger seal because that was what he was working on—having successfully destroyed the first half—when the first siege took place. Wei Wuxian did not kill himself; he knew he was on borrowed time and used it to destroy the weapon he knew the clans were really after.

i’m not going into detail over their similarities but most people get the idea— brothels, yqy/lxc, spite, villainous antagonists that didn’t deserve what they were put through as a child, late start in cultivation, cunning personality, etc etc

yea.
let me start: shen jiu, one day, is gifted a high quality book set from one of his brothel jiejies when visiting them. at first, shen jiu had no plans to legitimately read them (mostly due to a lack of leisure time), but he eventually got to reading it when he was on a qian cao-mandated break after a qi deviation.
he gets hooked. when SJ is nearing the end of the novel, his thoughts are as followed: JGS deserved to get castrated and his limbs thrown to the endless abyss— WWX, although he was absolutely shameless, he was at least competent— LWJ was a fool for being so in love, but he was moral and loyal— and lan xichen…
an ache forms in shen jiu’s heart whenever he thinks about him. lxc, a man with a gentle, pacifistic, amiable personality who believed in what was right all the way until the end. he wholeheartedly supported and trusted his sworn brother, jin guangyao, until he couldn’t anymore.
shen jiu was touched. lan xichen, that man, had wasted all his efforts on an irredeemable monster. in a similar fashion, yue qingyuan was doing the same.
as for meng yao… shen jiu resented him. he had a loving mother, one who worked so hard for his happiness, only to squander all her efforts. meng yao… had what shen jiu envied the most in the newest disciple he just brought in. luo binghe. imo, it would be a clear sign of shen jiu’s self hatred projected onto meng yao. he sees the two of them as the hopeless scum of society, too broken to be loved. they were “charity cases” that couldn’t be fixed, no matter what.
soon after shen jiu finishes the novel, he falls into a qi deviation (the very same one that shen yuan transmigrated into) and dies. through some time space dimension jumping, shen jiu lands into the body of one 14 yo meng yao. and that’s just the beginning of his story.
shen jiu starts out by practicing cultivation in secret. meng yao’s body, although he is no prodigy, would definitely benefit from practicing from a younger age. then he gets to planning. with how shen jiu is, he would not step a foot in the karp tower, with a system or not. like, just no. i believe he’d set JGS on fire if he ever had to see the guy. the only plot point shen jiu intends on fulfilling is saving lan xichen, and then living a comfortable life away from the jianghu.
but within a year of living with meng shi in the brothel, shen jiu grows attached to her. he *wants* to make her proud, even if he wasn’t her real son. he was a total impostor. but even so, he didn’t want her legacy to be tainted by the actions of jin guangyao— who was now still meng yao, who is now shen jiu. but he doesn’t want to go to the jin sect. after an arduous process of actual communication with someone for a long time, meng shi realizes that the jin sect wouldn’t be good for her son, and jin guangshan wouldn’t help her *or* meng yao. the night before meng shi dies, she tells shen jiu that she loves him, regardless of whether he may fulfill her dreams.
aaaand, after that, shen jiu buries meng shi. he makes enough money as an artist (in secret, with his skillset from qing jing) to give her the proper burial rites. after that, he runs away. shen jiu finds a job as an assistant to an artist who sold fans and paintings in caiyi town. through his job, he meets NHS first, when he’s on his first year of being st the cloud recesses. surprisingly, shen jiu and nie huaisang have a friendship that… isn’t too bad. shen jiu is amiable, shows off the different fans he’s painted, and nie huaisang eagerly buys all of them. nie huaisang also buys out shen jiu’s other works, like his poetry and short stories. that day, with shen jiu’s qiankun pouch full, he treats himself to tanghulu.
the second encounter with nie huaisang brought along jiang cheng and wei wuxian. at that point in time, they were investigating the waterborne abyss problem. shen jiu, a year older now, shows nie huaisang his “new” invention: the war fan. wei wuxian is absolutely delighted at the new invention, and jiang cheng, although less excited that WWX, is considerably impressed as well. as for NHS, well, words can’t describe his happiness. shen jiu, on a whim, gifts it to him for free— mockingly thanking NHS for being such a generous patron. nie huaisang, unable to contain his excitement anymore, jumps on shen jiu and embraces him dramatically. this causes such a commotion, lan wangji comes over. with his brother.

Jealous Lan Wangji x Reader
It was years ago (even a couple of years before the presence of WWX at Gusu) when Lan Wangji first saw you at Cloud Recesses.
He or almost all at Gusu didn’t know where you were from or anything about you except your name was Y/N but one thing was sure that you didn’t look like you were from anywhere around.
There were strange gossips those days that Lan Qiren found you lost in the forest , you were from a strange land and was not even familiar with language at Gusu.
Anyway, It wasn’t Lan Wangji business to get to know you or at least he thought so back then.
Then his uncle wanted Lan Wangji to teach you some basics of language and rules at Cloud Recesses.
Lan Wangji didn’t argue why he has to teach you , when you could have been sent to a class with kids (even though he assumed that you were around his age) but he just accepted the task.
You didn’t seem to be a quick learner as you pissed off Lan Wangji often by forgetting stuff he just taught, but fortunately he didn’t give up and you made him proud when finally nailed writing down a Cloud Recesses rule one day.
Once you found Lan Wangji was fond of rabbits and you always drew a rabbit under every assignment given by him earning a slight smile which was unsual
Another day you saw Lan Wangji he was staring at Gentian House in dismay and you presented him a wooden amulet carved in the shaped of a rabbit .
He widened his eyes . He knew that you did not know anything about his mother or any of his regrets yet sensed some grief in him.
Somehow it made his heart warm but he was slow to show it on his face.
Two years passed and Lan Wangji felt it didn’t matter who thought how strange or flawed you were but your simple gestures put him on much ease.
However, he didn’t know to how much he cherished your attention until one day
A batch of new students from different clans arrived at Cloud Recesses.
These curious students figured Lan Wangji was an ice prince since the day they had arrived but Yunmeng Jiang clan students especially Wei Wuxian never stopped annoying him.
First Wei Wuxian found Lan Wangji was similar to a private tutor to someone called Y/N who came to Cloud Recesses from a distant land and no new student had seen you yet.
Wei Wuxian was naturally curious of what you were like and dragged unwilling Jiang Cheng along with him to find you.
They saw someone who was looking outlandish in the library and Wei Wuxian immediately asked “So are you the secret disciple of Cloud Recesses?”
You startled by the sudden voice and few books fell from your hand . Wei Wuxian giggled.
Jiang Cheng nudged him and turned to you “Apologies. We are Jiang Cheng and Wei Wuxian from Yunmeng Jiang clan. Are you Y/N? ”
“Yes” you nodded.
“Don’t you like to meet new people at Cloud Recesses or are you waiting for someone?” Wei Wuxian winked .
You froze . Did he know that you have a huge crush on Lan Wangji ? But this stranger hadn’t even spent a week at Cloud Recesses yet.
“Let’s go” while you were lost in thoughts Wei Wuxian dragged you to where some students including Wen Ning, Nie Huaisang and Jiang Yanli were getting ready to go for a stroll.
He introduced you to them and started asking random questions while walking.
“is Lan Zhan cold to you?” Wei Wuxian asked.
“He is haughty and hot tempered what else ? Isn’t it Y/N?” Jiang Cheng added.
You smiled “ No. He is not haughty. I think …”
“Bahaha” Wei Wuxian bursted into laughter. “No haughty…not haughty… haha a good one”
Accidentally, his arm clashed your shoulder and you lost your balance but luckily, Jiang Cheng threw his arm around your shoulder to prevent falling down.
Suddenly, everyone went silent and stopped walking. It seemed that they were looking at someone in front. As soon as you looked up you saw fuming Lan Wangji .
“Let go” Lan Wangji glared at Jiang Cheng whose arm was around your shoulder.
“I was just helping.” Jiang Cheng instantly retreated.
Lan Wangji turned to you “Y/N” he said strenly. “Bunking classes is not allowed”
Your avoided his eyes and looked down. Lan Wangji turned around after glaring at everyone.
Before he walked off while you were following him.“He likes drama doesn’t he?” Wei Wuxian mumbled to Nie Huaisang “Hmm why care about a little hug that much when he is not even Y/N’s boyfriend?” Nie Huaisang whispered back and it was overheard by Lan Wangji.
Lan Wangji turned back in arrow speed wielding Bichen and its blade stopped almost touching Nie Huaisang’s chest.
His furious eyes expressed “back off. It’s none of your business” and before others recovered from gasping he withdrew Bichen and strode off.
You had to run behind him to the library where Lan Wangji used to conduct classes for you.
Lan Wangji stood next to his seat but glare in his eyes had not yet left him.
“I’m sorry” fear that Lan Wangji would hate you enough to shut you off from his life teared your eyes.
“Write! No skipping classes 50 times” Lan Wangji said harshly.
Writing usually took much effort and time of you so you thought to hand over yesterday’s assignment to Lan Wangji before you started your punishment.
You slowly walked to him to handover your assignment and went to a far end corner of the library. Lan Wangji looked over it and saw the rabbit drawn by you for Lan Wangji in a separate paper.
He instantly grabbed a book from his desk and made his way to where you headed .
As you didn’t not have new papers to write you had to get some but new papers were stored in the top of a book shelf.
You weren’t a tall disciple and when no one was around it was your secret to grab a stool and climbed on it to grab books or papers from top of book shelves.
You didn’t expect Lan Wangji to follow you and when he appeared behind you were already standing on the stool.
“You made a boyfriend?”
You startled by his presence and almost fell from the stool but in the nick of time Lan Wangji caught you lightly by your waist and twirled you to face him.
“Jiang Cheng” Lan Wangji spoke bitterly as his face was still tinted with anger. You confused . Was it because Lan Wangji saw Jiang Cheng’s arm around your shoulder? Did he care?
“N..No” you muttered nervously.
“Mn” Lan Wangji uttered and released one of his hands from your waist to present the book that he was carrying.
You opened it to found that it was consisted of all rabbits that you have drawn for him.
“Lan…Lan Zhan you kept them all?” You could not hide your adoration for his man.
“Mn” pushing you against the book shelf and Lan Wangji tightening the grip on your waist.
His stunning face made his way to you at brisk, connecting his soft lips with yours.
Your mind went blank as Lan Wangji’s stole your first ever kiss.
From your lips Lan Wangji Next moved to your neck “Lan..Lan Zhan” you moaned hugging Lan Wangji, when he was marking your skin.
“Mn” Lan Wangji hummed as he caressed your shoulder like if it was the way he untainted the touch of Jiang Cheng.
Suddenly, some footsteps were heard beyond indicating you were still in a public place. “Baobei … Jingshi” Lan Wangji whispered in a husky voice before escorting you to Jingshi through a different passage to continue rest of love making.

I thought about this a while ago, but in an ATLA universe, LWJ would be the only waterbender in a clan full of air nomads. His mother is also a waterbender, which wouldn't usually matter much, as the clans have ways to influence elemental persuasion inside the womb. Except, Mama Lan thought if she had a little waterbender baby, they might let her keep him longer, so she didn't announce her pregnancy until it was much too late to do anything about that without harming the child.
It was still a 50/50 chance LWJ would harmonise with air anyway, but (much like his mother), he's much too disobedient to make LQR's life that easy. And so, several months later, the Lan clan found themselves in possession of a small, screaming, water blessed child.
Unfortunately, they neglect to obtain both waterbending scrolls and tutors, making LWJ's education hellish.
LWJ has to work four times as hard to adapt the water he resonates with to air-based techniques. Due to his clan's strict rules regarding discipline, he has been denied a non-Lan tutor, though his uncle does give him an allowance for purchasing any relevant educational text he may find (not many, in Gusu, the largest state of the air kingdom).
Rather than be dissuaded, however, he counts himself lucky to at least have one point of reference for how he might control his powers. As a child, his mother taught him some small tricks to entertain himself with whenever he missed her company - petty acts of water manipulation meant only to excite, or catch the eyes of anyone close enough to see. But whenever LWJ actually tried them outside of her home, he was scolded for mischief, until he stopped playing altogether. He waited eagerly for the days he could see his mother in person, when they would practise their bending together. Little LWJ loved his mama so much. 🥺
Sadly, when he turns six, Mama Lan dies, and with it LWJ's last connection to his waterbending roots. He almost loses hope of ever living up to her wish for him - to become a bending master, so he may have the strength to freely choose his own path in life.
Unwilling to spurn his mother's efforts to teach him, he pushes himself harder to utilise airbending techniques - and to some surprise, he excels. By his sixteenth year, LWJ is well known throughout the land as one of the most accomplished young masters the current generation has to offer. However, he is also unsociable and - not counting his brother, the pheasants he keeps birdseed out in his garden for, and an assortment of illegal rabbits - friendless.
So ofc, when WWX arrives at CR and takes an interest in LWJ, Lan Xichen is more than willing to push them together. WWX (not surprisingly, for a Jiang) is also a waterbender. He could help LWJ open up more; let him feel like he really belongs in this world - that he isn't just a defective airbender, like XC knows he fears. Maybe Wei-gongzi will even teach his brother some of the Jiang clan's more basic techniques! LXC is thrilled.
...WWX is mainly super impressed that LWJ can fly by manipulating water in the clouds. So cool! No other waterbender can do that. He begs for his - clearly superior, gifted, handsome - gege to teach him his tricks. LWJ misinterprets this as showing WWX how to make spinny balls of water, and little arching fountains like his mother taught him.
LWJ has never been readier to demonstrate something in his entire life, so ofc, he has to call WWX ridiculous and huff about it a bit first - he cannot come off too eager. That would be weird.
Anyway, LWJ eventually shows WWX his tricks:

WWX is...still impressed, somehow? He copies LWJ's technique, turning it into a raging offensive attack capable of wiping out many enemies at once.
LWJ does not find that attractive, at all. ...Still.
The boys spend the rest of the afternoon attempting to turn children's games into dangerous weapons, and end up returning from the back hills utterly drenched in water. LXC is a little concerned, but mainly happy his brother seems so content to play with his new friend. LQR is less pleased, but with a little careful redirecting from his eldest nephew, LWJ never has to know by just how much.
Going forward, WWX and LWJ continue to meet after class to spar, drawing the curiosity of the other disciples, and starting all sorts of strange rumours, such as WWX using bloodbending to manipulate Lan er gongzi to his will, and LWJ taking WWX away from CR main to punish him sadistically.
When he hears the rumours, WWX laughs.
Wwx: Jokes on them! LZ and I go out there to get each other wet!
Nhs: ...
Jc: ...
Wwx: What? 🤨
The next day, significantly more rumours have popped up, about WWX taking poor, innocent Lan er gongzi into the back hills to corrupt him. Most of them still involve bloodbending and sadism to some extent. LWJ and WWX - painfully oblivious - go about their usual routine together without change. (It should be said, this is only because the disciples are too afraid to gossip around LWJ, leaving him constantly out of the loop, whereas WWX all but confirmed the rumours early on.)
Disciple: Hey, do you really get LWJ wet everyday? I didn't think that was possible with a man.
WWX (obnoxiously proud): Well, someone has to do it. He's way too stuffy to get himself messy.
Disciple: ...
Entire class: ...
LQR: ...😨
Thus begins LQR's master plan to get that devil WWX away from his precious nephew's remaining virtue. Unfortunately, the beating he gives them both for staying out dilly-dallying after curfew only ends with the pair splashing each other in the cold spring, nude.
He next tries sending them off in a group to deal with water ghouls in Caiyi - in order to focus their attention on something other than being promiscuous - and the pair come back with WWX hanging all over LWJ's shoulders! Apparently, they worked in tandem to raise a waterbourne abyss out of the lake, encased in a swirling torrent of water. While that is an impressive feat - no doubt possible only due to LWJ's familiarity with airbending - it most certainly does not excuse the way that Wei brat is pressing up against his WJ's side.
And why is WJ blushing about it! Teenagers are truly going to be the death of him, LQR swears it.
But it gets worse.
Nearing mid summer, the pair of boys seem to actually realise that since they both like each other, they can act on it (LWJ may or may not have finally heard the rumours about WY sullying him). This leads to a series of increasingly strange waterbending peacocking on WWX's part, reciprocated - to everyone's surprise, despite the raunchy hearsay - by LWJ. Their courting rituals only grow harder and harder to bear the more confident they become in the other's affection. NHS swears he caught WWX kissing up LWJ's arm in the library pavilion once, and LWJ actually giggled when he reached his elbow.
...LXC is still ecstatic. You can't bring him down with excessively sweet romancing; not when WJ finally looks happy for once. He jumps the gun a little by sending a betrothal request to YMJ, but thankfully it's well received on both ends - even if WWX's face did go a startling crimson colour when the match was announced, and WJ appeared for a moment to stop breathing.
LQR is at his wits end. XC betrayed him! Now that marriage is on the horizon, those brats have grown even more bold, if possible. Yesterday, he heard his nephew spouting poetry about WWX being the 'boisterous river' leading to his 'calm pond'. What nonsense! Don't even get him started on what he hears at night! When he and the rest of CR is trying to sleep! If he wasn't so embarrassed about it, he'd definitely confront those hooligans and have them spayed!
...LXC is still ecstatic, and that's why he pointedly drops off a bundle of silencing talismans at his brother's home the day after WWX moves in (unofficially. Officially, he knows nothing, saw no nude bottoms, and has nothing else to say on the matter, thank you very much).
A few years later, after marrying and travelling for a while, Wangxian adopt a young firebender toddler, whom they name A-Yuan. When it comes time for A-Yuan to learn to control his element, LWJ splurges on the very best of Wen tutors. He knows from experience, the child will learn better from someone of his own element, as he did with his mama. Fond memories rest in his heart as he sends his baby boy off to his first day of classes, a proud husband sniffling at his side.
All is peaceful and happy.

Ok, this is lame as hell, but I am quietly working on a JC/YQY I will probably never finish, but so far I'm in the strange of planning plot and characters, and for everything to go smoothly I am creating Jiang and Jin disciples to populate the scene.
And I just got a stupid, stupid idea for onexD
So, at the time the plot is happening, the canon ended some three-five years ago. The Jiang are just plowing along like usual. Wei Wuxian is travelling the world and not visiting Yunmeng, so the Jiang have no contact with him except for JC during some rare conferences in Gusu or something.
No matter.
The disciple in question is as old as long ago Wei Wuxian died the first time.
Actually, almost exactly this old.
The baby was born nine months after the fearsome Yiling Laozu was defeated, in some run down village at the border of Yiling. It was born out of wedlock, so disgrace. And it was born an albino with red eyes.
Instant panic! Yiling Laozu returned! His spirit reincarnated! He slept with the mother! Raped her! She was his disciple! He's taken over her own baby like a demon! Just - chaos and rumours and general backwoods idiocy.
It's so prevalent that the news get to JC, who at this point was in mourning and still looking for any trace of Wei Wuxian (there was no body, so there was still a chance he got out of it) and the demonic cultivation was slowly spreading across the land, so JC went personally to check it out.
What he found was a half-starved baby in a shed, mother gone, people treating the child like it was a demon and demanding that sect leader kills it.
Jaing Cheng got angry.
He couldn't even mourn in peace thanks to all the idiots that decided to take Wei Wuxian's name and run with it!
Zidian was never this bright. The whip slammed into the child (actually next to the child, the bright light made it so people around couldn't tell) once. Twice. Thrice.
"There. Zidian's power separates demons and ghosts possessing human souls. The child is safe now. It's not Yiling Laozu, never was."
And that was going to be it - except no one was rushing to gather the crying infant. No mother in sight. No family that would claim it. No one willing to pick it up.
In the end the Jiang sect claimed the child - fuck it, they already had a contingent of orphans left from the war, what difference will one more make?
So, the child grew in the sect, turned out to have potential, renked in cultivation and became very good at creating talismans, arrays and general research. (The research hall was nice and dark, and cool, better for sensitive albino skin than Yunmeng sun.) Some shixiongs even called them Little Laozu to tease;)
So, like, years later, the plot of my story happens and the disciple - who was always fascinated with the figure of Wei Wuxian - finally gets to meet him. They are a part of a research mission. The disciple aways wanted to talk to WWX!
They finally do.
And I am telling you all that, because it's a long setup for the disciple to ask Wei Wuxian:
"Yiling Laozu. Did you fuck my mom?"
...

It hadn't ocurred to me until now that Jin GuangYao seems to really have a chip on his shoulder about Wei Wuxian even if he isn't as loud about it as everyone else. And, superficially, he could be just another WWX hater, he has many, but if you look closer, Jin GuangYao probably hates him because he's jealous.
They both were looked down upon by the cultivation world for their humble origins, they were both far more intelligent than people wanted to admit, they both ended up in one of the big clans. They both lost the people they loved the most. They both had to find a way to thrive in the midst of tragedy and a world dead-set against them.
But, while Jin GuangYao was personally mistreated by every clan he landed into (sometimes because of his own actions, oftentimes because of his birth), and had to claw his way into his father's reluctant acceptance, had to lie and craft his way into success; from JGY's point of view, Wei Wuxian had been welcomed with open arms by Jiang Fengmian from the start. He was close with his adoptive siblings, adored by the other disciples, the #4 most eligible bachelor. He dared to be unabashedly himself and that earned him as many admirers as it did detractors. He managed to come back from an eldritch hellhole with unimaginable power. At the end of the Sunshot Campaign, despite JGY having killed Wen Ruohan, all the attention was on Wei Wuxian. Hell, Jin GuangYao was run through by the First Jade of Lan's sword and not the way he wanted, while Wei Wuxian was happily cuddling his very own Lan Jade Hottie right in front of them. Moreover, WWX derailed JGY's evil monologue to make the most crass, uncouth public confession in history.
Dude just kept accidentally stealing the spotlight Jin GuangYao craved so much. No wonder the little guy was more than happy to orchestrate WWX's demise, despite them having no history nor personal grievances.
WWX's apparently easy success was JGY's personal grievance.
Maybe things would have been different if Jin GuangYao had ended up in Yunmeng.

This is my first time sending you an ask 🎉!
I’ve come to the conclusion that I follow you mainly because the one time I tried to explain to my friends why I like jgy they refused to see my point after hearing what he’d done. I could see why it may be hard to get past the fact that he did marry his own sister, but I guess attempting to explain why he didn’t have too much of a choice wasn’t enough for them 😅 So now I follow you to feel seen and hear more jgy takes that don’t just villainize his character and refuse to see his perspective of things!
I also follow you because I find it hard to find people who refuse to acknowledge how human more “villainous” Mxtx characters sometimes are. I feel like if more people put themselves into some of these situations it’d make some actions taken by characters make a lot more sense and seem more realistic, as compared to a more “in the end they can do no evil” sort of character which tends to be the protagonist and automatically has a limited viewpoint. Which I think this may also be why I started off as a big lwj and wwx shipper but slowly gravitated to xiyao but that isn’t necessarily important to the story lmao 💀
awwwwwwww anon i’m so sorry you’ve only got fandom friends who dislike jgy, that’s no good 🥹 if it’s any consolation, i was in your shoes when i first landed in this fandom back in 2022, so i think there is every chance you’ll befriend people with similar opinions to yours if you stick around long enough and put yourself out there a bit. i originally had next to no one to chat with about jgy, but if you comment on posts and reblog meta/memes, you’ll find people to chat with for sure.
also re: your last point, this is SO true 🤝 mxtx’s antagonists are wonderfully human, and their complexity compels me in a way the main characters just can’t. …well, i say that, but then there’s xie lian, who is my bestfriend, so.

Listen. Listen. One of the things I love most in MDZS is the near-inevitability of everything that happened in the story pre-resurrection, and the way in which it shows how difficult it is to escape the cycle of societal oppression. However! I also love to think about what actions any of the characters would take given the chance to try again...and also how that would screw things up in a whole new way. And what would screw things up the least, y'know? It got me thinking about key moments that WWX would say things went wrong, based on his own regrets. And that got me thinking about his relationship with the Jiang sect and Yanli and how much of the Sunshot campaign's struggles hinged on the wishy washy support of the Jin sect. And THAT made me go: Huh. The first big political screw up for WWX was punching Jin Zixuan in the face, causing the Jiang sect to break the engagement and also getting WWX kicked out of Cloud Recesses. If WWX's soul were to be sent back to any point based on his regrets, based on his desire to atone, his wish to fix things in a way that wouldn't lose the war (because there would be no stopping the Wen sect from starting a war), what if he landed on that day? How could he deal with JZX disparaging Yanli and damaging her reputation in the marriage market without causing his sect to lose face? While giving Yanli the chance to still marry whomever she wants? But maintaining the chance for the Jiang sect to gain political capital and maybe, just maybe, give it the kind of social protection that had Cloud Recesses burn without the kind of slaughter Lotus Pier experience? What social capital does he have as the head disciple and the son of a servant? And he has this horrible epiphany: he can't the Jin want to join the war, just like he can't make JZX realize what a horrible mistake he's making with Yanli. But he can make it shameful for them to avoid it - the war and the engagement - in a single stroke. He can make Yanli more marriageable. He can give the Jiang sect leverage by making Yanli more marriageable. He can do that because he's the son of a servant. WWX declares to JZX that, since he's damaged Yanli's marriageability, WWX is submitting himself as part of her dowry. To prove what a valuable investment he is, any and all suitors can submit a person to dual him once. If he beats a sect's own disciples, it'll only continue to increase the perceived value of Yunmeng Jiang's teachings. He'll even accept any and all challenges that come his way once. Of course, his sect leader will have to approve. But while they wait for that message to make its way to Yunmeng, hey JZX: fight me. If you're worth more than what Yanli is bringing into this marriage, you should be able to win. If you can't, you need to apologize and admit that she has value on the market, engagement or none. Hotel Heart by Laughsalot3412 (and its sequel Safe as Houses): not quite romance but not NOT romance ot3 leverage psychics au where eliot is a hitman who used to be under the control of a horrible empath who left him with major mental scars and huge trust issues. he reluctantly ends up protecting another empath (hardison) and thief (parker) and sloooowly starts to work through the aforementioned trauma while they take down the aforementioned evil empath together. excellent series with excellent pangy plot. also i knew nothing about leverage when i first read it and it’s what got me to watch the show.
Hold my Eyes to the Sky by myrmidryad: an enjoltaire/les mis longfic set in a 1970s(?) wizarding au in which grantaire is a very sad and lonely werewolf and the idealistic activist he’s hopelessly in love with just got himself turned as well, and grantaire has to help him navigate the changes while dealing with his own self-worth issues and tragic backstory. you want whump? look no further.
Occultation by Geese_in_flight & pineapplesquid: a novel-length au of the book Winter’s Orbit, in which the main difference is that kiem, not jainan, is the one dealing with a previous, horrible arranged marriage. somehow this simple switch brings so much fresh potential to the characters (i loved seeing how this played into kiem’s self-worth issues, and also loved this exploration of what jainan’s character would be like if he had been able to flourish the last few years), with a whole new set of pangs. i recommend both the book and the fic!
爱不释手; never let me go by yiqie: a post-cql wangxian getting together fic with the classic amounts of yiqie pain & pining & h/c & devastatingly beautiful writing about the devastatingly beautiful experience of being in love. also blood. honestly most fics by yiqie probably fulfill this request (are you into vashwood, perhaps?)
Morning, keep the streets empty for me by feyburner: a wangxian modern au oneshot with self-sacrificing wei ying getting into trouble and landing himself in the hospital while pining very very hard for his cultivation partner. i’m reccing this one out of all feyburner fics because it has the obvious physical hurt but fey is so good at weaving pangs into fic that tbh there’s emotional whump to be found in most of them. also, god-tier writing in general.
the kite string and the anchor rope by fleurdeliser: a wangxian canon-divergence au that falls into the sickfic whump subgenre. the pangs! wangxian’s love for each other and for a-yuan and the way wwx’s desperation and powerlessness in the face of a sick child (and his own illness) clash with how the world perceives him at the time is so 🤌🤌. this is saved in my h/c favs folder for a reason.
The Long Way Home by itsnatalie: extremely whumpy batfam tim & jason fic, which i’ve definitely rec’d here before but if i’m reccing whumpy longfics it HAS to be on the list. good god this fic is a masterpiece, both for the angst and for the absolute beautiful worldbuilding/navigation of its horror tropes.
and since you like bbts, i’ll also self-rec a few of my older fics! i think you’d probably enjoy this river runs to you, a wangxian/mdzs modern cultivation longfic feat. (sort of) identity shenanigans, angsty backstories, self-worth issues, and the main character getting all manner of hurt. also: you’re the trouble that i always find, a wenzhou/shl dreamsharing/amnesia/sort-of-timeloop fic in which the main character is supposed to dream about killing his love interest but said love interest keeps dreamcrashing to change the plot.
this reclist could’ve been dozens of fics long tbh. i live for The Pangs which usually go hand in hand with good whump, and seek those fics out whenever possible, so as always this is a super incomplete reclist! also i welcome any and all recs in return.

Lan Wangji looks down at Xuanyu, her face slack in sleep, and tries to reconcile the conflicting emotions he's been doing his best to avoid.
Despite how she'd curled around him the morning after they'd had sex, she's returned to keeping herself to her half of the bed without complaint. It's been over a week, and besides his brother's teasing and one dinner with a red faced Sizhui, nothing has changed. Xuanyu spends her days reading or meditating or sparring. The latter tends to gather a crowd of spectators these days, because in spite of Xuanyu's lack of power, she has an abundance of skill. She often abandons traditional cultivation style to resort to dirty street tricks more commonly seen in wandering cultivators, but it's hard to argue with the results when she's the victor nine times out of ten.
He should be grateful.
Xuanyu is living as she had since their marriage, asking nothing of him and completely apart from him except for sitting next to him at meals and falling asleep beside him at night.
When Lan Wangji had agreed to this marriage, he had not given thought to what sort of husband he would be.
Now, after months of ignoring his wife in spite of Sizhui’s affection for her to the point that she attempted to throw herself off a cliff, disregarding her injuries and abandoning her after their spar, and getting drunk only to nearly immediately demand her virtue, it turns out that the answer is he’s a terrible husband by almost all metrics.
Maybe that shouldn’t bother him. He never wanted this marriage. But it seems as if Xuanyu didn’t either, and he at least chose this. All evidence points to Jin Guangshan forcing her into this role. He at least volunteered.
What has she done to deserve his ire? His staunch disinterest? She’s treated his son with nothing but kindness, been courteous to the disciples, made a show of following the rules of the sect she married into, and has asked him for nothing.
Her greatest sin is not being Wei Wuxian.
This too is hardly her fault. Still, it’s a near insurmountable thing, that she is in his bed and on his arm and is not the only person he’s ever loved.
His grief is not her fault. Even he can’t bring himself to put any blame on her for Wei Wuxian’s death when she was still a child during the war and those terrible years after.
The sun shifts, shining through the window and landing across her face. It wakes her as it does every morning and she scrunches her nose before her eyes slowly open.
She meets his gaze squarely for one moment, then two, then she groans and covers her face with her arm. “You have to stop doing this. It’s weird.” She peeks out from under her arm. “Are you drunk again?”
“I need help with something,” he says, forcing it out before he can change his mind.
Xuanyu pushes herself to sitting, her eyebrows pushed together in concern. “What’s wrong? Are you okay?”
He holds out his hand. “Can you put this on for me?”
She stares down at the forehead ribbon in his hand. Her wide eyes and trembling bottom lip that she catches between her teeth tell him she knows what it means. “Are you sure?”
No. “Yes.”
Xuanyu’s brilliant smile in response is worth the terror and anxiety and uncertainty. He doesn’t think she’s ever smiled at him quite like this before, so much warmer than her teasing grins.
She’s his wife.
He owes it to her to at least try to be a husband in more than name.

JC had erased WWX from existence. Eventually LWJ made JC fix it and bring back WWX.
After WWX is brought back he reveals the gold core transfer along with other secrets.
However when JC redid the array and brought WWX back is made his own core slowly disintegrate.
They do save the Wen Remnants and and Wen Qing actually helps LWJ finish destroying JCs core when he is challenged to a dual.

For days I've been trying to find this fic. I'm not sure with the details like if wei wuxian is a farmer here or older (i think he is a farmer though) but what I remember is lan wangji making advances to wei wuxian while sleeping (wei wuxian here is known as a heavy sleeper ) but at some point wei wuxian got awake during those and from then on anticipate what lan wangji gonna do, so he knows what lan wangji is doing and there's a number of that that happens. Also, lan wangji is running out of time because he was about to go to the main central or the palace to take an imperial exam (? I'm not sure if that's the term) anyway, he was going with lan sizhui to take that exam. I'm not sure if he goes on the day of the exam but I vaguely remember that he confess his feelings to wei wuxian before or on that day. Then they did the everyday. ヾ(@゜▽゜@)ノ

I've been trying to find a fic (I believe it's a time travel au where Lwj and Jc, or just Jc I'm not sure, travel back in time), but the only scene I remember is a scene where Jc for some reason gets mad with Wwx during the Sunshot Campaign after finding Wwx in the woods around the war camp (I don't remember what Wwx was doing). Jc hits Wwx with zidian and Wwx is sent flying into a tree. Jc gets scared after Wwx doesn't get up and goes see if Wwx is ok, only to find out Wwx's heart is no longer beating. Lwj (I don't remember if he arrived after Jc hit Wwx or if he was already in the woods with Wwx), then, manages to make Wwx's heart beat again by performing CPR on him.
can't find the fic, but I remember it. Maybe these details will help. Lan Wangji found out about WWX not having a core after he gets back from being missing (I think by grabbing his wrist maybe?), but Jiang Cheng doesn't know. He didn't expect that hitting WWX with Zidian would be much of a problem for him and he's totally freaked out when WWX collapses and LWJ starts doing CPR which is what you'd do for a non-cultivator

11. Hi!!! I'm trying to find a fic (it's an one-shot, if I remember correctly) that happens during the Sunshot Campaign. One of the soldiers sees Jc and Wwx fighting, and they see Wwx flinching, and trying to back away. This soldier (I think they either were sexuality assaulted or knew someone who was sexuality assaulted and reacted like this towards the abuser, I don't remember which one it is now), and they find Wwx's reactions to Jc way too similar to the reactions of someone towards their abuser and comments this with another soldiers. The "Wwx reacts towards sect leader Jiang like someone who was sexuality assaulted does" comment spreads around, and soon becomes rumors that Jc did rape Wwx. Wwx is confused by how suddenly everyone is sympathetic towards him, treat him with care and don't let him alone with Jc. One of the last scenes is Jc mad because Wwx "tarnished his reputation", Wwx not understanding shit of what's going on and Jc getting real scarry. They were in a secluded place, I think. Lwj is walking about and sees Wwx backed away on a tree while Jc is looking really agressive, Wwx looking scared, and he (who has heard of the rumors), goes like "nope, he's not about to take Wy against his will again. Not on my watch" and totally trashes Jc (I don't remember if only verbally or also physically).

It’s a ‘watching the memories’ type of fic. With protective Jiang Cheng, Lan Xichen, Lan Zhan and juniors.
Anyway I don’t remember much but what I do remember is that the story is set after guanyin temple and that they watched a memory of wwx going about his birthday alone. Qiren and many others were assholes to wwx who just wanted to spend the day with his husband and son, but was constantly denied and berated.
This in turn lead to JG, LZ and LXC I think being angry and protective on his behalf.

Let's look at all the ways the text tells us WWX is not fucking responsible for the fall of Lotus Pier.
Madam Yu: "So you came here this time for the sake of a kite?" ... Wang Lingjiao: "I came this time to punish someone on behalf of Wen Clan and Wen-gongzi."
If we didn't already know from their unprovoked attack on the Lan, this kite thing makes it extremely clear that WWX's actions at the shittier summer camp reeducation camp are absolutely not to blame for the fall of Lotus Pier.
They were always going to make a move on Lotus Pier, and they'll pick whatever excuse they want—from a kid playing with kites, to an unnamed offense from a clan leader who has been in seclusion for decades, to a prisoner (!!!) fighting back.
In fact, WLJ says it herself: taking over Lotus Pier was "the second important matter [she] came to Yunmeng for," something that was going to happen whether or not they punished WWX.
That's the point at which Madam Yu snaps: when he pride, her status, and (if we're being charitable) her family and home, are finally threatened. Instead of simply pacifying a more powerful clan, punishing WWX became an act of submission to the Wen. It would mean following orders as a subject of the Wen, not just a less powerful clan with an upstart disciple. And orders from the Wen's servant envoy, no less.
So she finally fought back—and that's what sparked the actual battle. If anyone is going to argue that WWX should have kept his head down and not caused trouble, well then, here's where Madam Yu should've kept her head down.
Like... this is barely even meta. It's literally in the text:
"If you dare lay your hands on me, he'll—" Madam Yu raised her hand and slapped her again. "He'll what?" she mocked. "Chop off our hands or our legs? Burn down our residence? Send people to raze Lotus Pier to the ground? Establish an overwatch office here?"
Maybe didn't give them ideas, Madam Yu?
Meanwhile, the worst threat given for refusing to punish WWX:
"... things won't go so well the next time Wen-gongzi asks questions!"
WWX was never an important part of this equation—not for anyone but WLJ. The Wen were there to establish a supervisory office, and they attacked in response to Madam Yu literally striking first.
And of course, later, after their escape:
"Deep down, Jiang Cheng knew very well that even if Wei Wuxian had not saved Lan Wangji in the Xuanwu of Slaughter's cave at Mount Muxi, the Wens would have found a reason to come knocking sooner or later. But he couldn't help but think that had it not been for Wei Wuxian, perhaps it wouldn't have happened so soon. Perhaps there would've still been time to salvage the situation."
Even JC knows he's grasping at straws.
(Also, the time for salvaging the situation was when the Wen took all the land and forbade night hunting. Or when they demanded inner clan members as prisoners. Or when they burned down the Cloud Recesses. Or even after WWX and JC made it back, instead of leaving to diplomatically negotiate Jesus Christ Jiang Fengmian. The time was NOT when WWX stepped into a fight with their captors, in support of their allies, that was already happening.)

Resentful energy is a fickle, fickle thing.
Wei Wuxian has it controlled, or so he says, down to a tee, and Lan Wangji— all he can do is trust. To love unconditionally, the way he always has, and offer up everything he has to give. To take on the burden, however he can.
Sometimes, that means giving Wei Wuxian a place to rest, behind a glacial wall of yang, diligently written to protect him with his life. Lan Wangji has adapted to this routine well enough; learned to stifle a lifetime's worth of orthodoxy and order. He's learned that the wicked ways are not necessarily wicked in intent.
'Come back to Gusu with me,' Lan Wangji had said, a few weeks ago now. A few weeks in shared solitude that have flown by. 'Resentful energy will harm you.' And he'd had to compromise, as long as he could keep Wei Wuxian safe, away from the sharp blades of the land's greatest clans.
But Wei Wuxian has killed people, cultivators, in their thousands, in the heart of the darkness of his own making. And yet, here he is, tucked far away in hiding, rattled awake by the mercilessness of his darkest nightmares. Lan Wangji has needed to adjust to this, too, because standing by Wei Wuxian's side makes him an accomplice by proxy. And that much is fine. It is fine. But he is not immortal.
Neither is Wei Wuxian. He carries himself like a trailblazer, granted — staunch, upright, indignant. Only here, for their eyes only, does the fear begin to trickle through the cracks.
Sometimes, Wei Wuxian craves. He craves validation and closeness. He asks to be soothed; to be spoken to, just like old times. Lan Wangji will not revert back to old times; he won't arbitrate Wei Wuxian's choices.
He won't back away. Not again.
Sometimes, Wei Wuxian refuses to curl up come night time, alone and cold against the rocks. He'd refused Lan Wangji's offer to take the hard ground, because of course he had. He is good. So good. There, he'd always wake up wrapped up in Lan Wangji's robes, still smattered with blood, red on white. And he'd always come up with some excuse—something about how he must have gotten cold and grabbed the closest thing.
Lan Wangji was always the one tucking him in, trying to keep him warm from the cruel cold of the world.
Most nights these days, he winds up curled up in the blankets, atop the bale of hay Lan Wangji had bartered for in a nearby village with the few coins left to his name, under the disguise of a dark grey cloak and a red rope belt. Not at all subtle; knowingly rumoured as a 'disciple of the feared Yiling Laozu'. In bed under their shared blanket, Wei Wuxian always ends up trembling next to him, clutching tight and begging for the voices to stop. It is unwavering, unrelenting with each passing rise and fall of the moon. His eyes have long grown dark, his hair disorderly, and his blood red ribbon askew where it hangs against his back.
Lan Wangji's mind is a mere shell of what it once was, his heart taking precedence here. And his heart is sombre; his resolve, diminished.
Sometimes, Wei Wuxian shakes, red raw with an itch for something more; all that resentful energy, and nowhere to put it. Spiritual yang pointed directly into the meridians does wonders for soothing that itch, much like an aloe balm, but even Lan Wangji grows tired sometimes. He has enough spiritual energy for the both of them, but the price he pays for that is doubled. And the yin will always come flooding back. Such is the natural order of things.
That is how they had wound up toppling into bed together, a tangle of limbs and a desperate mess of reassuring kisses, that first time. Lan Wangji can put up a good fight, can school himself into something almost as unremitting as he once was, equally stubborn as he is devoted, but for this— he's weak for this. His devotion to Wei Wuxian is unbreakable, it might as well be written in stone.
"The righteous, perfect Hanguang Jun. Hanguang Jun, the most peerless man in all of these lands," Wei Wuxian says, courtesy dripping like sweet poison from his tongue. Somewhere beneath the darkness of his red-rimmed eyes is that same arrogance, that same integrity he'd thrived with when they were teens. "Lan Wangji, you do things to me. Terrible, amazing things. Do you even know? Do you know?"
Lan Wangji knows. He knows well. And he takes it, obliged and without complaint, because he feels it, too. He feels cruel for it, stealing like this, but resentful energy is a fickle, fickle thing, and Lan Wangji is not selfless. Not at all.
He's sprawled out, his robes drawn open and splayed out around his sides. The hay bale is scratchy against his back, and his thighs are trembling, muscles pulling taut, following the path of Wei Wuxian's deft fingers. He's hard, his cock straining on end against his stomach. There's a thick plume of black hanging in the air around them, there are whispers of the undead, telling Lan Wangji to take and take and take and take.

He knows the taste of Wei Wuxian's mouth, his cock— the way it curves, and the way it fits just right. "At least I can exist, knowing I've seen you like this. I can be happy, knowing that the crooked Yiling Laozu was good enough to have had Hanguang Jun for at least a little while. That in spite of your few words, I've heard you, like— this."

"I belong only to you, Yiling Laozu."
"Fuck, Lan Zhan. Lan Zhan, you do. Turn, turn over— Actually, no wait, I want to look at you."
Lan Wangji is delirious with this too. It's simple for them to fall in and out of these meticulously crafted characters they've accepted for themselves. Every time, however, the Wei Wuxian he's always known will sneak back in, and Lan Wangji has to ignore the twinge of guilt that he's taking advantage of his vulnerability here.
So he flips them, strong like steel, if a little shaky, and kisses Wei Wuxian down to the floor, deep and feverish. These stolen kisses each have little messages. You'd kill anyone for him, wouldn't you? You'd murder them in cold blood. You are powerful, you could wipe out entire sects.
Lan Wangji breathes out, shuddering with it. Wei Wuxian is whimpering, mouthing wetly against Lan Wangji's shoulder, their bodies flush, every inch attached.
"Please," he says. He doesn't even know what he's pleading for, really. His body is spent, his mind fogged over. "Wei Ying, please."
"I've got you," Wei Wuxian soothes, presses it into the crook of Lan Wangji’s neck. Lan Wangji twists to meet his lips, messy and not at all lacking in saliva, and even that is a plea. "I've got you, my dearest."
The way Wei Wuxian handles him is too careful — too, too kind. He treats him as though Lan Wangji is something precious, and there's something unspoken there. He lowers Lan Wangji down, back against the ground, against the smatterings of hay. Lan Wangji is vaguely aware that they're sleeping on the ground tonight; distantly reminds himself that he will need to return to the village tomorrow. But that will be tomorrow's problem.
Wei Wuxian manoeuvres Lan Wangji's legs, kisses a stripe along the sensitive skin of his inner thigh. He rests his cheek there, then, gaze full of wonder as he curls his fingers around the girth of Lan Wangji's cock.

"Lan Zhan." Wei Wuxian is crawling upwards now, ready to collapse sloppily across Lan Wangji's chest. They never did the whole cuddling after sex thing until just recently. Whether it was too real for them, too much back then, the two of them seem to be toeing a dangerous line now; stolen glances that last too long, and mouths finding one another in the night.
His eyes seem to find something in Lan Wangji, seem to recognise something there, and he manages to squeeze in a soft kiss before his body gives out. "You're good, you are so good. I— thank you. Are you okay? Want me to talk you through the comedown?"
And Lan Wangji can't really do much else other than huff out a soft laugh, because he is okay. They talk about normal things, fingers idly explorative, and he is good. Utterly devoted to the chaos that has made its bed, nestling itself neatly beside the order in him.

After watching his husband; his son; nephew; brother and little radishes dying in front of him one by one because of a source of resentful energy; Wei WuXian dies too as he destroys it.
But instead of darkness; he finds himself back in the past when he had just gotten kicked out of the cloud recess and everything looks so peaceful he can’t stand it. No…no no no he really can’t go through this hell again. Not again. Not after everything was supposed to be over.
Not knowing that Lan WangJi has been thrown back in time as well; he tries; and fails at taking his own life by slitting his throat open in the middle of lotus pier and so; he decides to show everyone the future.
If he’s going to live this hell again; he’s going to change it and if these people are suddenly so determined to keep him alive; then he’s not going to let them die either.
It doesn’t matter if they end up hating him just as much as he hates himself.
