Based on what Meeks said, I now believe that Arthur and Charles met through hunting in this AU
I also think Hosea is lowkey rocking the Howard Hamlin fits/suits while Dutch has his RDR1 haircut because it is more modern ig + fancy black suits for the job.
Susan is definitely the secretary of Dutch for Vanders (Idk what to name the company yet). You also mentioned John and Tilly working on being lawyers, probably to replace Dutch and Hosea in the future, so I'm thinking John met Abigail through Arthur as she is also studying at that college. I can't think of her major, though.
I also think it's funny how Arthur is just chilling at college, having a self-portrait due to 2pm or something while waiting for Micah, them having a date at some spot Charles told him about while his whole family is causing immense fraud at the moment, breaking regulations, and are faking statements/proof for some case that would get every single one of them in jail for decades if caught.
OG Anon
I like to think Abigail studies education or nursing, or becomes an EMT of some sort, only because I think it'd be funny. That being said, I also don't know what she would study. It's up for interpretation me thinks. I think Arthur met her first, and then introduced her to Tilly and they became friends (Side info: I think Mary-Beth + Karen are both lawyers, like majority of the gang, and I think the two become Tilly's mentors while she studies and stuff.)
Maybe Tilly brought Abigail over for a playdate, or to do some studying - whatever the case, John just so happened to be there. I think the Vandermatthews' household has a dog or two, and John likes to roughhouse with them outside and always comes inside the house all dirty. So he didn't think much when he walked inside, covered in dirt and drool, and paused when he saw Tilly and her pretty friend.
He just goes red with embarrassment and all but flees, and Tilly's annoyed on his behalf and apologizes to Abigail about her "unruly and annoying, filthy mutt of a brother." Abigail, however, is just enamored.
I imagine they both reach out to Tilly about each other, and Tilly is disappointed that they like each other (jokingly, ofc. She's happy they're together but threatens John every time.)
And I love the idea of Charles and Arthur accidentally meeting each other whilst hunting. I'm not sure what Charles would study, probably something related to the environment/nature, but they immediately hit off and become BFFs. I think it'd be funny if Charles accidentally found out Arthur was dating Micah, because fr? He's dating Micah Bell, a man he's seen on the trending page on Twitter more times than he's seen his family in the past two weeks. So he's more than a little skeptical about Arthur's boyfriend.
...But I think it'd be even more funnier if they actually got along, like really good. Micah's abrasive and perverse humor with Charles' more reserved and deadpan humor? Arthur's just happy they're getting along.
It takes a lot of skill for Arthur to pretend his family and boyfriend aren't running a shady business. It's why he spends a lot of time in nature, to get away from everything and pretend he has nothing to do with it. It sounds angsty but it really isn't, he just does not want to deal with their shenanigans.

While these protests succeeded in disrupting normal operations at the targeted arms companies, they were unable to meaningfully halt the manufacture of weapons, in part because the group best poised to shut down production was conspicuously absent from each of the actions: the companies’ workers. More than two million US workers are employed by the weapons industry, which produces over 80% of all of Israel’s arms imports, including “precision guided munitions, small diameter bombs, artillery, ammunition, Iron Dome interceptors and other critical equipment,” according to the Pentagon, as well as F-35 aircraft—the most advanced fighter jets in the world. In the past month and a half, Israel has used these weapons in a genocidal assault that has killed more than 14,000 Palestinian civilians in Gaza, at least 5,600 of them children. The violence has prompted direct action against the Israeli war machine’s supply chain, with protesters targeting not only munitions factories but also ships transporting arms to Israel and financial firms with significant investments in the weapons industry. But unlike in many other parts of the world, where weapons workers have led the disruption in response to an urgent call for solidarity from Palestinian trade unions, in the US, unions in the weapons industry have so far remained outside the fray.
This is despite the presence of tens of thousands, if not hundreds of thousands, of unionized workers in the US weapons industry, some of whom are employed at the very factories that protesters have attempted to shut down this fall. As journalist Taylor Barnes reported earlier this year, each of the five major Pentagon contractors—Lockheed Martin, Boeing, Northrop Grumman, Raytheon, and General Dynamics—employs some unionized workers, although union density at the firms ranges from as low as 4% at Northrop Grumman to as high as 32% at Boeing. Many of these unionized workers belong either to the International Association of Machinists (IAM), or to the United Auto Workers (UAW), which is part of a renaissance in the US labor movement. Both unions include employees at Boeing, Lockheed Martin, Raytheon, and General Dynamics; the IAM additionally represents workers at Northrop Grumman and M7 Aerospace, a wholly owned subsidiary of the infamous Elbit Systems, while the UAW represents workers at Woodward, Inc., an aerospace firm that gained unwanted attention last month after a viral photo from the ruins of Gaza appeared to show a used missile component with the company’s logo on it. The unions are also actively organizing more workers in the weapons industry: Just last month, for example, the IAM unionized 332 Lockheed employees in Kentucky.
For anti-war labor organizers in the United States, unionized weapons workers present a paradox: Serving such members ostensibly requires making weapons industry jobs stable and remunerative, but the principles of global solidarity call for dismantling the war machine altogether. Traditionally, US unions have only pursued the former mandate. As one anonymous local union president in the industry put it to researcher Karen Bell earlier this year, “my top priority is trying to make sure that we have work in jobs in the United States . . . I don’t make a lot of judgments on anything other than, what can you do to keep the people I represent in work? That’s my job, and to be anything other than that, it would really be a disservice to the people that are paying my salary.” Rather than questioning their role in the industry, unions have reconfirmed their relationships with weapons companies since the start of Israel’s assault on Gaza. Last month, 1,000 IAM members in Arizona and 1,100 UAW members across the Midwest separately ratified new contracts with Raytheon and General Dynamics respectively, during a period when both companies were actively implicated in the mass killing of Palestinian civilians. When the Raytheon contract deal was announced on October 22nd, one IAM leader said he was “proud to support our Raytheon members and excited for this contract’s positive impact on their lives”—a statement that highlights the seemingly irreconcilable conflict between the economic interests of weapons industry workers and the anti-war, anti-genocide movement.

(16-30 albums etc that I’ve listened to this year, copied from twitter) (now with art. [1] [2] [3])
album names and personal thoughts below cut.
16/ Pan Electric & Ishq - About Time (2008) ough, this is prime chillout. feel like ive been pickier about the style recently but this hits the spot.
----
17/ Ovuca - Wasted Sunday (2001) mis-parsed this thinking it was an Oval album. it's not. :| but it still has some cool turn of the century glitchy fun, just grounded with some more traditional synthy beats. i love the sound design overall
---
18/ Team Doyobi - Cryptoburners (2001) feels like cheap plastic and warm electronics. lots of empty space, but as a stylistic choice. sometimes a little too noisy for my taste. sometimes cozy in its fuzzy minimalism.
---
19/ VA - Tigerbeat6 Inc. (2001) an absolute grab bag of ideas and quality. weirdly, i feel kinship with the silliness contained within. some of these are RLY COOL. "Wooper", "Jujik_olop", "Klardiscopic Remedy #1"
---
20/ Electric Company - 62-56 (2001) future buzzes and clicks :) I'm not as much of the fan of the sort of… freeform ambiance. but I do really enjoy those clicky beats.
---
21/ MuToPiA LABEL — ISOMORPHISM (1999) man im fascinated by this double-retro stuff. "let's arrange this 5 year old game!" -some guy 24 years ago. sadly, it's just a little too rough for me. I'm spoiled by modern arrangements. but yet... track 3 sounds so early OCR. beloved.
---
22/ DJ Assault - Belle Isle Tech (2000) listened as a joke, but yet… there's some sweet little jams here. "Jungle Love" is a striking standout. i... used alternative cover art for this just in case. hi tumblr tos lol
---
23/ Cex - Oops, I Did It Again! (2001) some cool stuff and some annoying stuff, to my taste anyway. :| more of the former than the latter, overall, luckily.
---
24/ Lesser - Mensa Dance Squad (2001) kinda…. jungle tossed in a glitchy blender? sometimes more physical than aural, somehow.
after pondering for a while, a few more thoughts on 2001 tigerbeat6 in general: usually, i vibe with music as music. but with this freeform glitch stuff, i vibe as if it were a painting. it has the feature space of music but, as a whole, each song becomes an acrylic canvas.
---
25/ Apocalyptica - Cult (2000) i guess i wanted to check this out because symphonic metal? (old list item) my biggest complaint is the lack of percussion. igorrr has me spoiled. what is metal without breaks? and cores? still, a few good cuts here imo
---
26/ Lackluster - Rikos 7" (2000) just as i began to feel it was kinda "meh", the vibe enveloped me. EXCEPT for the one track with a title.
---
27/ VA - SMAK (2001) date is technically 2002 in compilation form but each EP came out in 01. the first comps REALLY did not vibe with me, but i feel like they got better as the number incremented. Massimo - Nemylik? oh man. let's drift away.
---
28/ Kid606 - GQ On The EQ++ (2000) i listened to this years ago and only liked one track. listening again... wtf this is good. why did i do that. it is *crispy* but i admire that now. i cannot BELIEVE how good this is. 23 years old? what!!
---
29/ YET11 - TIMECAPSULE (2000) retro newage chiptune? an interesting thing. I find that im not too drawn it, though... maybe "After Rain" as a highlight?
---
30/ Geeez 'N' Gosh – My Life With Jesus (2000) this took a while to get going. I can't say im a fan of the glitched ironic gospel stuff. i love atoms clicks and glitches but man i wish i didnt have to actively ignore the blemishes here

"Hip-Hop Journeys: Where Dreams Became Tangible Goals" Rest In Peace Santos Night Club aka Santos Party House
Rest In Peace Santos Night Club aka Santos Party House
In this edition of Hip-Hop Journeys, as we celebrate Hip-Hop's legacy, I can't express enough gratitude for how it has become the soundtrack of my life, paving the way for my global adventures and preparing me for the future. The stage was set in New York City, with an Indian summer vibe, the cool breeze sweeping through the city, and temperatures in the pleasant 80s, creating the perfect atmosphere.
On September 1st, 2010, the Rock The Bells Tour made its stop at Governors Island in NYC, promising potential special guests and surprises. A big shoutout to Dan Green from Clockwork Music Inc., a globally diverse company specializing in talent booking, concert marketing, production, online marketing, and project consultation, for promoting and marketing the event. The concert would feature Hip-Hop legends AZ and Cormega, along with opening acts brothers Willie The Kid & LA The Darkman. For me, this marked a significant milestone as I would be hosting my first major show in NYC while handling the promotion and marketing.
The primary goal was to ensure a great turnout, and the pre-ticket sales were already showing promising signs.
As they say, "If you can make it in New York City, you can make it anywhere," and that morning, I experienced the truth behind this cliché. Savoring my tea, croissant, and egg cheese sandwich with turkey bacon from the Bodega, I took the 4 train from 183rd and Jerome to Wall Street Station, and from there, I walked to the pier for Governors Island. As a native Bostonian, I embraced the city's atmosphere whenever I traveled on public transportation, appreciating the sights and being mindful of my surroundings. Governor's Island reminded me of Thompson's Island back home in Boston. To reach Governors Island, I had to take the NYC ferry, and upon arrival, the music filled the air, with two stages set up - the Main Stage for the headline act and smaller stages for upcoming artists.
Positioning myself strategically between the two stages, I seized the opportunity to personally hand out flyers for the show to people leaving the venue or moving between stages. Although I hadn't secured tickets to attend the show, a stroke of fate led me to encounter a distressed young lady who worked for Rock The Bells. Her date had stood her up, leaving her with all-access guest passes, which she generously offered to me. Gratefully, I found myself backstage with the crème de la crème of the Hip-Hop industry, no longer needing to distribute flyers. I was now adding the headline acts to the guest list for the evening event. My dreams had become tangible goals as I witnessed my first major show, with an iconic and legendary guest list. From Ras Kass West Coast legend & Lyrcists, to Consequence fresh off A Tribe Called Quest rocking, RIP Phife Dawg was still alive, Dres from Blacksheep, my big Bro Vic Black Gangstarr, and the Legend DJ Tony Toca Touch. There were so many more these were the pics I could salvage.
Now its showtime, I hopped into a cab and headed to Club Santos, also known as Santos Party House, located at 96 Lafayette Street in the Tribeca neighborhood. There, I reunited with my brother DGomez, and our friend joey had made the trip from Boston to film the night's unforgettable moments. It truly was a night to remember - my first time seeing AZ live, alongside Nature, Craig G, and the electrifying mic exchange that went down in Hip-Hop history at the 1:10 mark. It all flowed seamlessly, akin to a baton pass, with the crowd united in their clear requests. You can see my big bro from Queensbridge, The Testament himself Cormega, and The Revelations bringing down the house.
Here’s another angle from the night ! Salute to Grandgood

Birthday Bullies-SBI AU Imagine
This is Brother!Technoblade, Brother!Wilbur, Brother!Tommyinnit, and Father!Philza x gn!reader in the SBI inc AU in which you are the youngest of the three. That being said, you and Tommy are in the same grade due to you skipping a grade because you’re so smart and that gets you into trouble because people don’t like people that are different ya know?
TW: Bullying, like physically, mentally, and emotionally. As well as cursing
Masterlist here
Y/N is being bullied at school. They’re able to keep the secret from her father and brothers for a while. But every cat gets out of the bag eventually.
Y/N’s POV
Being the youngest in your class is hard. It’s even harder when the age gap is bigger than the usual age gap. My father and my teacher’s realized that my “smarts” were way ahead of others in my grade and together we decided that I might be happier skipping two grades and going into high school at 13.
At first, I was ecstatic. I would get to take tougher classes but I would also get to be with my older brother Tommy as a freshman and our even older brothers who were seniors. But as time passed, more of the freshman class began to turn on me and began to hate me. Not only did I begin to feel excluded from my classmates, but my classmates began to pick on me.
It wasn’t too bad at first. Just whispers and snide comments to begin with. But some people got more bold and soon I could barely walk down the hallway without my shoulder being shoved and cruel words spat directly in my face. No matter how hard it got, I refused to tell my brothers. I didn’t want to be a bother to them. I was in high school now, I should be able to fight my own battles… Right? Besides, some of the kids had threatened to beat up Tommy if I even thought of telling my brother’s what was happening.
Luckily, I usually got home before everyone so I got to let out all of my feelings without having to worry about any of the boys seeing me break down. Techno has theater, Wilbur has music lessons, Tommy goes to Tubbo’s to hang out, and my father, Philza, works until 5. So I was home alone for 2 hours which gave me enough time to break down, cry it out, pull myself together, cover any bruises I may have gotten from the day, and pretend like nothing happened before anyone got home. It was a process I had down to a science. No one knew about my struggles, but that was all about to change.
It was my birthday. I woke up feeling pretty good. I could immediately smell the breakfast my father was making. I swung myself out of bed, grabbed the outfit I planned on wearing, and went to the bathroom. I quickly did what I needed to do in the bathroom before bouncing down the stairs.
As I suspected, my father was standing over the stove and all three of my brothers were sitting around the table chatting. At the sound of my footsteps, all heads snapped to me, grins placed on all their faces. “HAPPY BIRTHDAY!” All four cheered in unison. A matching grin painted my lips, “thank you!” I beamed. Philza quickly turned off the stove and rushed over to me and scooped me up in a big hug. “I can’t believe my baby is officially a teenager!” Dadza cooed in my ear. I giggled and hugged him back, “If it helps I can’t believe it either.” Philza gave my back a quick pat before releasing me and going back to the stove.
I sat down in my seat at the table next to Tommy and gave all my brothers smiles. “Here you go sweetheart” Dadza announced, placing a plate filled with my favorite breakfast foods down in front of me. “Thanks Dad!” I cheered, before picking up my fork and digging in. The boys took this as their cue to get up and get their own plates.
Soon everyone was sitting around the table, eating and enjoying each other’s company. “Unfortunately I wasn’t able to get the day off and the boys still have their after school activities that they can’t get out of and so you’re still going to be home for two hours by yourself before we can all get home to celebrate” Dadza explained in an apologetic tone. Although I was a little disappointed, I understood. “That’s okay. Like you said, we can just celebrate when everyone gets home. No worries,” I told him with a smile. Dadza returned my smile, “Thanks for being so understanding kiddo.” “No problem dad!”
We finished breakfast and then it was time to head to school. Wilbur drove us in the car that Dad had gotten him when he got his license. Techno also had a car and a license, but he hates driving and so he forces Wilbur to drive everyday. Once we got to the school, the four of us said our goodbyes to each other before heading our separate ways. I stopped by my locker and put my books away before heading to my first period.
Surprisingly, the day passed very easily. Sure there were still a few shoves and words thrown my way, but nothing too major which I was really happy about. It seemed like the universe was giving me a break because it’s my birthday today! I should have known it was too good to be true.
The last bell rang releasing us from the hell that we call school. I quickly made my way to my locker, grabbed everything I needed before walking toward the exit. I had almost made it out of the building when I heard the cruel voice of Chad, one of my main bullies, call my name from behind me. I silently prayed that if I just ignored him he would get bored and move on… It did not work.
“Hey!” The same aggressive voice called, this time a forceful hand finding my wrist and forcing me to turn around. “I’m talking to you bitch. When I’m speaking I expect you to listen” His hand tightened around my wrist causing me to whimper. I knew that the skin was going to bruise and it was going to hurt a lot. The sound of me in pain caused the smirk on Chad’s face “Aw. Does a little pressure hurt the baby?” Chad mocked, tightening his hand even more causing even more shooting pain to send through my wrist. “Please let me go” I begged, trying to tug my wrist from his iron grip, I made no progress. “No. I don’t think I will. You need to learn your lesson and learn to listen to your superiors when they’re speaking to you,” Chad spit, glaring at me with so much hatred in his eyes. I let out another small whimper, but didn’t say anything else.
Chad smirked at my demeanour, “Good… Now I’m feeling particularly generous today, so I’m going to let you go. But remember this the next time I call you, you better respond immediately.” Chad let go of my wrist and I was about to respond, but I suddenly felt a force on my shoulders, shoving me to the ground. My hands shot out behind me and I felt the skin on the palms of my hands break as they met the ground. Chad’s obnoxious laughter rang out loudly as he walked away, leaving me on the ground.
I had to take a few moments to compose myself. I couldn’t cry here. I couldn’t risk another person walking by and seeing me lying here crying. I had to be strong until I got home. I carefully pushed myself up, hissing at the feeling of the pressure on my scraped palms. Once I was up, I carefully inspected my palms and wrist. Small rivers of blood flowed from the open wounds. I slowly clenched my fists closed, trying to keep the blood in. My eyes caught the wrist that Chad had gripped, it was extremely red and small bouts of purple were already appearing in the shape of fingerprints. I took a deep breath before walking out of the school and toward home.
It’s days like today that I’m very grateful that I’m home for a few hours by myself. I didn’t have to explain anything to anyone and I could be my happy self by the time everyone gets home. It was hard to keep the tears at bay on my way home, but I managed.
A sigh of relief left my lips as my house appeared in my vision. I practically ran to the front door, carefully grabbing my key and unlocking the door, careful to not get any blood on the door or my key. I rushed into the house and slammed the door behind me. Once I was sure the door latched, I allowed myself to break down. The tears that I had forced to remain in my eyes finally flowed freely down my cheeks as sobs escaped my lips. I threw off my bookbag and allowed myself to sink into the door and slide down to the ground as the sobs wracked my body.
I was so absorbed in myself that I didn’t hear someone calling my name. I couldn’t hear them ask what was wrong. I didn’t even know they were there until arms wrapped themselves around my shoulders. I immediately jumped in surprise and my eyes snapped to whoever was grabbing me. Through my blurry vision, I could make out the outline of my father’s extremely concerned face staring at me. “What are you doing home?” I blubbered, immediately trying to dry my tears to try and hold on to some form of dignity. Dadza looked up causing me to follow his gaze. There I found all three of my brothers standing there as well, staring at me. Of course. Of course this just had to happen. “Do you remember this morning when I told you I couldn’t get the day off?” I let out a sniff and nodded at the question, of course because had he not, we wouldn’t be in this situation. “Well I lied to you to surprise you. I pulled the boys out of school early and they’ve been helping me set up your birthday surprise… But that doesn’t matter, what happened Y/N? What’s wrong?”
I couldn’t tell him. I can’t. They’ll hurt Tommy. I cleared my throat and shook my head, bringing a hand up to wipe my face. “Nothing… Nothing. I’m fine, forget about it.” I tried to brush the concern off. But Dadza’s gentle hand grabbed my hand and it was then I remembered the blood running from my hand and the finger shaped bruises forming. Dadza examined my hand, “Wilbur go get me the first aid kit please. Techno an ice pack. Tommy, please go finish setting up,” Dadza softly commands my three brothers before turning back to me with a raised eyebrow, “You’re fine?” he asked with a slightly mocking tone. I knew I had been caught.
The tears began welling in my eyes again. After a moment of silence I managed to give an answer, “No” I croaked out, “I’m not fine.” Tears began falling from my eyes once again. Dadza instantly pulled me into him once again and began rubbing my back again. “I’ve got you honey. I’ve got you.” He soothed as I sobbed in his shoulder. As I cried, I could feel someone take my hands and begin to take care of them. A small sting running through them before bandages carefully wrapped around them. A cool presence also settled on my throbbing wrist.
I don’t know how long I cried for. But I needed it. I broke down at least once every week, but crying to someone feels so much better. The tears finally stopped and the sobs turned into sniffs. “Feel better?” Dadza asked softly in my ear. I nodded, my face still in his shoulder. “You want to tell me about it now?” I pulled my face from his body and looked around the room. Techno and Wilbur still remained in the room, but Tommy was nowhere to be seen… Just how I want it.
And so I told him. I told him everything. I told him how hard high school had been for me and how everyone had been so mean to me. I told him what had happened today and what Chad had done. I explained why I was happy to be left home alone for a few hours everyday. How I broke down and patched myself up everyday. And at the end, I explained why I never told anyone. I told them how they had threatened Tommy and how the last thing I wanted was for anyone else to be hurt.
By the end of my ramblings, Techno and Wilbur were visibly fuming. Dadza was calm on the outside, but I could tell he was pissed too. It took a few moments before Philza spoke, “Tomorrow. I will be going down to the school and having a talk with the principal. There is no reason that this should ever happen to anyone, especially not you. When I met with them, they assured me that you would fit in fine and they would keep an eye on you… It’s obvious they didn’t keep that promise.” I couldn’t help the shiver that was sent down my spine at my father’s dark tone. I knew it wasn’t directed at me, but I had never heard this before and it kind of scared me.
“And we’ll be sure to take care of Chad tomorrow” Techno glowers, giving Wilbur a small nod. Philza’s head turned to his sons and he gave them a disapproving look. Wilbur holds his hands up in defense, “We promise we won’t do anything that gets us suspended or expelled… We just want to teach him a lesson.” Dadza hesitated but then gave them a small nod. A small cheer escaped Wilbur’s lips as he and Techno fistbumps. “And I’ll help too!” Wilbur and Techno whip around and part revealing Tommy standing there, his face red and his fist pounding in his hand. “Tommy, Wilbur, Techno… Please you really don’t have to-” “No we do have to. They messed with you, they mess with all of us…. Now let’s forget this for now and go celebrate your birthday”
And so you did. Dadza helped you stand up and walked you into a decorated kitchen. Party decorations of your favorite color and theme littered the walls and the table announcing “Happy Birthday” to you. Your favorite foods sat on the kitchen table with your favorite drink sitting in front of your favorite spot. Had you not just cried your eyes out, you would have cried happy tears. “Guys!” You squeal, rushing forward, looking at everything, “You didn’t have to do all this. Thank you!” The four of them chuckled at your reaction. You quickly sat in your own seat, waiting for everyone to sit down, before digging in. The rest of the night was spent just celebrating you. You got a lot of gifts from your family and ate a lot of ice cream and cake and just all around had a good time.
*Time skip to the next day*
The next morning was the first morning in a while that I didn’t absolutely dread going to school. I rode to school with dadza. Wilbur and the boys following behind us in his own car. When we got there, Dadza went straight to the office and the four of us siblings stuck together instead of immediately branching off from each other. I couldn’t help but smile to myself as I heard my father’s voice boom asking where the principal was.
The four of us continued down the hallway until we passed Chad. “Hey bitch!” Chad called from his spot leaning up against the lockers. I was a little surprised at his boldness, usually when I was with my brothers, nobody bothered me, but I guess he didn’t care today. I didn’t even get a chance to respond because in the blink of an eye, Techno had him pinned up against the lockers. “What did you just say to them?”
Instantly, Chad’s demeanour changed, “Hey man, get off of me!” He exclaimed, trying to get out from under Techno, but my pink haired brother’s grip was too strong. “No, no, no… You’re going to tell me what it is you just said to them” Techno repeated, his tone extremely dark. Wilbur slowly walked up behind him and smirked at the trapped bully, “Yeah. I mean you seemed so brave just moments ago. Almost as brave as you were yesterday, come on big man. Where’s that bravery now?” Chad’s gaze shifted from my brother’s to me, “You fucking snitch! I told you not to tell, now you’re going to pay!” Chad once again tried to get out of Techno’s grip, but he was immediately slammed back against the lockers. Techno let out a small tisk, “That was the wrong answer Chad. You should know by now I don’t like repeating myself.” Techno growled, lifting Chad from the locker and slamming him back against it.
Chad let out a small gasp of pain as the loud crash sounded, “You can’t do this! You two are both 18, I’ll sue. I’ll press charges.” Chad gasped, panic slowly filling his voice. That seemed to break through to Techno. Techno let out a huff of air through his nose. “If I ever catch you messing with Y/N again, I will end you” Techno grumbles out before letting go of Chad and taking a few steps back.
Chad takes a moment to collect himself before the stupid smirk returns to his face. “That’s right. You’re not so big and bad are you?” He taunted my oldest brother. I watch as Wilbur has to literally grab Techno and restrain him from completely pouncing on the bully. Chad only smirks at the chaos he’s created.
To my surprise, Tommy steps in front of him. “You better watch your mouth,” Tommy spoke to the bully. “Oh yeah? And what are you going to do about it?” Chad asked with a huge smirk on his face. Tommy didn’t answer, he just stood there staring at Chad. I could tell Chad was getting nervous under Tommy’s stare. Finally he’d had enough of the silence, “You’re such a freak just like your sibling,” Chad announced, reaching forward and shoving Tommy as hard as he could. Tommy stumbled back, but it seemed as though that was what he was waiting for. “Oh, you’re going to regret that” Tommy announces with a smirk, popping his knuckles. Chad let out a scoff as he rolled his eyes, “Sure kid. It’s not like you’re going-” Chad didn’t get to finish because Tommy’s fist connected with Chad’s face. Tommy had reared back and punched Chad in the face as hard as he could.
A gasp sounded throughout the hallway and it was then I noticed that there were a bunch of people that had gathered to watch what was happening. Chad went down like a sack of potatoes, just crumpling to the ground. For a moment, everyone was frozen. No one could believe what had just happened. Finally Tommy moved and looked around at the group that was staring at him. “That’s right!” Tommy announced loudly. His eyes met mine and he smiled before walking over and wrapping his arm around me “This is my sibling. If I ever catch you or hear of any of you bullying Y/N, it’ll be you next.” Wilbur and Techno were quick to join the two of us, “Yeah! What he said!” Wilbur cheered, backing up his younger brother.
The office door flung open and my father and the principal walked out. All eyes snapped to the two adults that had just entered the scene. Principal M glanced around the hall, his eyes landed on an unconscious Chad, “What happened?” He asked, moving over to the knocked out boy. “It was self defense your honor,” Tommy claimed boldly, “He pushed me and tried to punch me but I punched him before he could… It was self defense.” Mr. M looked around everyone, “Is this true?” Every single head bobbed in unison at the question. No one was going to snitch. I could tell that Mr. M was a little skeptical but when his eyes met my fathers, he quickly nodded. “Right well… I’ll get him down to the nurses office… Everyone get to class”
With that, everyone broke from their trance and raced off to their classroom. The four of us however made our way over to our father. “What really happened?” Dadza asked, an amused eyebrow raised as he looked the four of us up and down. Techno looked over his shoulder and shrugged, “We can explain later… It’s actually a funny story” Techno claimed with a small chuckle. Dadza couldn’t help but chuckle as well, “Well I can’t wait to hear it… I’ve got to go to work now but I’ll see you at home,” Dadza announced throwing his arms open. With no shame we all piled into his arms and had a big group hug. Dadza let us go and we began to head off to our classes.
“Oh wait! Dad!” I called, stopping my father from leaving, “What did you say to the principal?” I asked, really curious. A small smirk appeared on my father’s face, “I’ll tell you when you’re older… Just know that you’re never going to be bullied in this school again… And if you are, let’s just say there are some jobs at stake… I’ll see you later kiddo. Love you!” “Love you too!” And then he was gone. I walked to my first class, the teacher not even questioning why I was late.
After that day, I was never bothered by bullies again. Everyone either was very nice to me, or they avoided me completely. Tommy and I spent a lot more time together. The boys had grown even more protective of me ever since they found out. I didn’t mind though, they’re my boys and I love them. Sometimes you need someone to stand up for you, to protect you, and to take care of you. And I couldn’t have asked for better boys to be that for me.
There you go. I hope you enjoyed! If so be sure to leave a like or maybe even a reblog or reply telling me your favorite part/what you liked!

Chipotle Mexican Grill, Inc. (/tʃɪˈpoʊtleɪ/, chih-POHT-lay),[7] often known simply as Chipotle, is an American chain of fast casual restaurants in the United States, United Kingdom,[8] Canada,[9][10] Germany,[11] and France,[12] specializing in tacos and Mission burritos.[13][14] Its name derives from chipotle, the Nahuatl name for a smoked and dried jalapeño chili pepper.[15] The company trades on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker symbol CMG.[16]
Chipotle is one of the first chains of fast casual dining establishments.[17] Competitors in the fast-casual Mexican market include Qdoba Mexican Grill, Moe's Southwest Grill, Rubio's Coastal Grill, and Baja Fresh.[18] Founded by Steve Ells on July 13, 1993, Chipotle had 16 restaurants (all in Colorado) when McDonald's Corporation became a major investor in 1998. By the time McDonald's fully divested itself from Chipotle in 2006,[19] the chain had grown to over 500 locations. With more than 2,000 locations, Chipotle had a net income of US$475.6 million and a staff of more than 45,000 employees in 2015.[3]
In May 2018, Chipotle announced the relocation of their corporate headquarters to Newport Beach, California, in Southern California, ending their relationship with Denver after 25 years. Founder Steve Ells attended the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, New York. Afterward, he became a line cook for Jeremiah Tower at Stars in San Francisco.[20] There, Ells observed the popularity of the taquerías and San Francisco burritos in the Mission District. In 1993, Ells took what he learned in San Francisco[21] and opened the first Chipotle Mexican Grill in Denver, Colorado, in a former Dolly Madison Ice Cream store at 1644 East Evans Avenue,[22] near the University of Denver campus, using an $85,000 loan from his father.[19] Ells and his father calculated that the store would need to sell 107 burritos per day to be profitable. After one month, the original restaurant was selling over 1,000 burritos a day.[16] The second store opened in 1995 using Chipotle's cash flow, and the third was opened using an SBA loan. To fund more growth, Ells' father invested $1.5 million. Afterwards, Ells created a board of directors and business plan, raising an additional $1.8 million for the company.[23] Ells had originally planned to use funds from the first Chipotle to open a fine-dining restaurant, but instead focused on Chipotle Mexican Grill when the restaurants saw success.[24][25]
In 1998, the first restaurant outside of Colorado opened in Kansas City, Missouri.[26] The company opened its first location in Minnesota by opening near the campus of the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis in March 1999.[27]
In 1998, McDonald's made an initial minority investment in the company. By 2001, the company had grown to be Chipotle's largest investor.[19] The investment from McDonald's allowed the firm to quickly expand, from 16 restaurants in 1998 to over 500 by 2005.[28] On January 26, 2006, Chipotle made its initial public offering (IPO) after increasing the share price twice due to high pre-IPO demand. In its first day as a public company, the stock rose exactly 100%, resulting in the best U.S.-based IPO in six years, and the second-best IPO for a restaurant after Boston Market. The money from the offering was then used to fund new store growth.[29]
In March 2005, Monty Moran was appointed president and chief operating officer of Chipotle while Ells remained chairman and CEO.[30]
In October 2006, McDonald's fully divested from Chipotle.[31] This was part of a larger initiative for McDonald's to divest all of its non-core business restaurants — Chipotle, Donatos Pizza, and Boston Market — so that it could focus on the main McDonald's chain.[32] McDonald's had invested approximately $360 million into Chipotle, and took out $1.5 billion.[23] McDonald's had attempted to get Chipotle to add drive-through windows and a breakfast menu, which Ells resisted.[33][34] In 2008, Chipotle opened its first location outside of the United States in Toronto.[10]
In January 2009, president and chief operating officer Monty Moran was promoted to co-CEO, a position that he would share with Ells, while Moran retained his president position.[35]
In a list of fastest-growing restaurant chains in 2009, Chipotle was ranked eighth, based on increases in U.S. sales over the past year,[36] and in 2010 Chipotle was ranked third.[37] Consumer Reports ranked Chipotle as the best Mexican fast-food chain in 2011.[38] The company serves approximately 750,000 customers per day.[39]
In December 2010, Chipotle hired chef Nate Appleman to develop new cuisine. Appleman has won Rising Star Chef from the James Beard Foundation, was named "Best New Chef" by the Food & Wine magazine, and competed on The Next Iron Chef.[40]
In 2010, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) audited Chipotle's Minneapolis restaurants, and found that some employees had been hired using fraudulent documents. In December, Chipotle fired 450 employees from its Minneapolis restaurants as a result of the audit, resulting in protests by local groups.[41][42] In February 2011, ICE expanded the audit to include 60 restaurants in Virginia and Washington, D.C.[43] which resulted in 40 workers being fired. In April 2011, the criminal division of the attorney general's office in Washington, D.C., joined the case, and ICE agents began interviewing employees at 20 to 25 restaurants in other locations, such as Los Angeles and Atlanta.[44] In response to the government investigations, Chipotle hired former director of ICE Julie Myers Wood and high-profile attorneys Robert Luskin and Gregory B. Craig.[45]
In December 2016, Chipotle announced that co-CEO Monty Moran has stepped down from his role effective immediately with Ells becoming the sole CEO.[46][47] Eleven months later, Ells announced in November 2017 that he would be stepping down as CEO.[48]
In December 2017, Chipotle announced it signed a 15-year lease and in late 2018 will move around 450 corporate employees – currently housed in multiple buildings around downtown Denver – into the new 1144 Fifteenth Tower and occupy around 126,000 square feet or 5 floors of the 40-story tower.[citation needed]
In February 2018, Chipotle announced that Taco Bell CEO Brian Niccol would replace Ells as CEO starting on March 5 while Ellis would retain his chairman position.[49] Many industry analysts praised Niccol's appointment saying that Chipotle "needed new blood."[50] Chipotle stock went up $30.27, or 12.04%, as a result of the announcement. However, other analysts criticized the announcement by saying that "the move goes against everything the burrito chain stands for."[51]
In May 2018, Chipotle announced that it would relocate headquarters from Denver to Newport Beach, California in Southern California. Corporate functions handled in their Denver and New York offices would move to Newport Beach or to an existing office in Columbus, Ohio. This move would impact 400 workers, some being offered relocation and retention packages.[52]
In June 2018, the company announced the closing of 65 under-performing restaurants.[53][54]
Other restaurant expansion[edit]
In 2011, Steve Ells was a judge for the TV show America's Next Great Restaurant and investor of ANGR Holdings, the company that will be running the winning concept's restaurants. Chipotle has agreed to purchase Ells' investment in ANGR at his cost, provide support for ANGR operations, and invest a total of $2.3 million in cash contributions.[55] The winning concept, Soul Daddy, was quickly closed after operating for less than 5 weeks.[56]
In September 2011, Chipotle opened an Asian fast-casual concept restaurant named ShopHouse Southeast Asian Kitchen in Washington, D.C.[57] The company has said the new restaurant "would follow the Chipotle service format and its focus on 'food with integrity' in ingredients."[58] Chipotle's plan was to start with only one store, and see how the restaurant works out before expanding the concept.[59]
On December 18, 2013, the company revealed that it had opened its first fast-food pizza chain in Denver back in May 2013. According to Associated Press, Chipotle partnered with a local full-service restaurant called Pizzeria Locale to create a fast-food version of the eatery, keeping its name. The company plans to open at least two more pizzerias in the Denver area.[60]
In April 2014, Chipotle announced an increase in menu prices for the first time in nearly three years, due to increasing costs for steak, avocados, and cheese. The price increase was expected to be rolled out from the end of second quarter of 2014 through the end of the third quarter.[61] In late 2015, Chipotle expanded its mobile strategy through delivery partnerships with tech startups like Tapingo, a delivery service that targets college campuses.[62]
On July 29, 2016, the company announced the opening of its first Tasty Made burger restaurant in the fall. Chipotle was still dealing with the various virus outbreaks with additional marketing. The company was also reducing the number of new stores for the year from 235 to 220.[63]
The newer restaurant concepts did not perform as well as expected so that ShopHouse Southeast Asian Kitchen and Tasty Made were respectively closed in March 2017[64] and February 2018[65] leaving only Pizzeria Locale operating besides the parent company.
International[edit]
According to an article in The Motley Fool, Chipotle had 17 locations outside of the United States by October 2014 with the majority in Canada, and the UK was in the process of opening more locations.[66] The rate of overseas expansion was slower than expected.[67] Many of the press reviewers thought that the food was overpriced for their area.[12][68]
As of 2018 there are 33 locations outside of the United States with 19 locations in Canada (Ottawa, Toronto, Markham, Vaughan, Mississauga, Oakville, Vancouver), 6 locations in The United Kingdom (London), 6 in France (Paris), and 2 in Germany (Frankfurt).[better source needed][3][69]
Canada[edit]
Chipotle Mexican Grill in Canada
In August 2008, Chipotle opened its first location outside of the United States in Toronto.[10] The second location in Toronto–and in all of Canada–was not opened until 2010.[67]
The first Canadian location outside of the Toronto area was opened in Vancouver in December 2012.[70] A second Vancouver-area location was opened in Burnaby in October 2014[71] followed by a third in Surrey in January 2016,[72] a fourth in Langley in October 2016,[73] and a fifth in West Vancouver in March 2018.[74]
The first location in the nation's capital of Ottawa was opened in February 2017 at the Rideau Centre.[75]
Chipotle rapidly expanded in the Greater Toronto area, and is still opening new locations.[citation needed] As of 2018, there are 11 locations in Toronto, 2 in Vaughan, 2 in Mississauga, 1 in Oakville, and 1 location in Markham.
United Kingdom[edit]
The second Chipotle Mexican Grill location in London, located on Baker Street
Chipotle expanded to Europe with the first European restaurant opening in May 2010 in London.[8][76][77] A second location opened in London in September 2011.[78] The following year, three additional locations were quickly opened in the London area.[79] After this growth spurt, the rate of further expansion in London slowed greatly with the sixth location appearing in 2013[80] and the seventh in June 2015.[81] Although Chipotle blames the slow growth in the United Kingdom on the British unfamiliarity with Mexican foods,[82] several locally owned burrito chains had opened locations across the United Kingdom during the same interval.[83]
France[edit]
The first location in France opened in Paris in May 2012.[12][84]
Expansion in France was much slower than that in the United Kingdom or Canada, with a second location in Paris opening in 2013[85] and a third location in 2014.[86] At 7,000 square feet, the restaurant at La Défense is, as of 2015, the largest Chipotle location in the world, while a typical Chipotle restaurant is usually between 2,200 and 2,500 square feet.[87] A fourth Parisian location was opened in Levallois-Perret in 2015[88] followed by a fifth[89] and a sixth[90] Parisian location in 2016, both in Saint-Germain-des-Prés.
Germany[edit]
The first location in Germany opened up in Frankfurt's Skyline Plaza shopping mall in August 2013.[11][68]
A second location opened in Frankfurt's MyZeil shopping mall in April 2019.[91]
Corporate management[edit]
Chipotle's team includes a residing corporate office of managers and its board of directors. Members of both teams are appointed to serve on committees: audit, compensation, and nominating and corporate governance.
The top management team consisted of the chief executive officer, Steve Ells; the chief financial officer, Jack R. Hartung; the chief marketing and development officer, Mark Crumpacker.[92] The current board of directors consists of: Ells, Patrick Flynn, Albert Baldocchi, Neil Flanzraich, Darlene Friedman, Stephen Gillet, Kimbal Musk and John Charlesworth.[93] On March 14, 2018, it was reported that Mark Crumpacker, who had previously been charged in a 2016 cocaine ring indictment, would be leaving the company.[94]
Ells serves as chairman of the company, and served as Chief executive officer until November 2017.[95][48] He has a 1.25% stake in the company.[96] The labor-market research firm Glassdoor reported that Ells earned $29 million in 2014, versus a median of $19,000 for Chipotle's workers, making the CEO-to-worker pay ratio 1522:1.[97]
On February 13, 2018, Chipotle announced that Taco Bell CEO Brian Niccol would replace Ells as CEO starting on March 5 while Ells would retain his chairman position.[49]
On March 6, 2020, Ells resigned as chairman and left the board of directors, breaking his final ties to the company. At the same time, Niccol was appointed chairman and the size of the board was reduced from 10 to 7 directors.[98][99]
Operation and distribution[edit]
All of Chipotle's restaurants are company-owned, rather than franchised.[100] As of December 2012, 1430 restaurants have since opened throughout the United States and Canada, with locations in 43 states, Ontario, British Columbia, and the District of Columbia.[101][102]
The field team are the employees who work closely with but not directly within specific restaurants. The field support system includes apprentice team leaders (step up from restaurateurs), team leaders or area managers, team directors and regional directors (not atypical for them to oversee more than fifty locations).[103] Because Chipotle does not franchise, all restaurants are corporately owned. Thus, whenever Chipotle is in the process of launching a new location, the field team hires a new general manager and trains them at a current location so that they will be ready for the new location when it opens for business. The corporate office takes care of finding and funding new locations as well.[104]
Menu[edit]
A Chipotle restaurant in Brandon, Florida, having the typical service-line layout with menu above
Chipotle's menu consists of five items: burritos, bowls, tacos, quesadillas, and salads. The price of each item is based on the choice of chicken, pork carnitas, barbacoa, steak, carne asada, tofu-based "sofritas",[105][106] or vegetarian (with guacamole, which would be at an extra charge otherwise). Additional optional toppings are offered free of charge, including: rice, beans, four types of salsa, sour cream, cheese, and lettuce.[107][108]

When asked in 2007 about expanding the menu, Steve Ells said, "[I]t's important to keep the menu focused, because if you just do a few things, you can ensure that you do them better than anybody else."[109] Chipotle also offers a children's menu.[110][111] Most restaurants sell beer and margaritas in addition to soft drinks and fruit drinks.[112]
The majority of food is prepared in each restaurant. Some exceptions are the beans and carnitas, which are prepared at a central kitchen in Chicago, Illinois.[113] None of the restaurants have freezers, microwave ovens, or can openers.[114]
Chicken Burrito Bowl
The chain experimented with breakfast foods at two airports in the Washington (D.C.) metropolitan area but decided against expanding the menu in that direction.[115][116][117] Starting in 2009, selected restaurants had offered a pozole soup,[118][119][120] which has since been discontinued.
In June 2015, Chipotle began test marketing a pork and chicken chorizo-type sausage as a new protein option at selected locations in the Kansas City area.[121][122][123] Some food writers have expressed their health related concerns over the protein's relatively high sodium content since a 4-ounce serving contains 293 calories and 803 milligrams of sodium[124] while the American Heart Association’s recommended daily amount is less than 1,500 milligrams of sodium.[125] In contrast, the protein options with next highest sodium contents are Barbacoa with 530 milligrams and sofritas with 555 milligrams.[124] An earlier version on the Mexican sausage was tested in Denver and New York City in 2011,[126] but that test was terminated when that version of the sausage was perceived as looking too greasy.[127] Chorizo was discontinued in September 2017[128] but was returned to the menu in the following year for a limited time.[129]
In July 2020, Chipotle began test marketing a cauliflower rice option at 55 locations in Colorado and Wisconsin.[130]
Chipotle accepts fax orders, and in 2005 the company added the ability to order online from their website. For both online and fax orders, customers proceed to the front of the line to pay for pre-ordered food.[131] In 2009, Chipotle released an app for the iPhone that allows users to find nearby Chipotle locations, place an order, and prepay with a credit card.[132] In 2013, Chipotle released an Android app that allows users to locate nearby Chipotle locations, place an order, prepay with a credit or gift card, and access favorites and recent orders.[133][134]
Nutrition[edit]
In 2003, a Center for Science in the Public Interest report stated that Chipotle's burritos contain over 1,000 calories, which is nearly equivalent to two meals' worth of food.[135][136] MSNBC Health.com placed the burritos on their list of the "20 Worst Foods in America" because of their high caloric content and high sodium.[137] When a burrito with carnitas, rice, vegetables, cheese, guacamole, and salsa was compared with a typical Big Mac, the burrito had more fat, cholesterol, carbohydrates, and sodium than the Big Mac, but it also had more protein and fiber.[138] The restaurant has also received praise – Health.com included the restaurant in its list of the "Healthiest Fast Food Restaurants".[139]
Chipotle's vegetarian options include rice, black beans, fajita vegetables (onions and bell peppers), salsa, guacamole and cheese.[140] All items other than the meats, cheese, sour cream, and honey vinaigrette dressing are vegan.[140] As of late 2013, Chipotle developed a new cooking strategy for the pinto beans, eliminating the bacon and making them vegetarian and vegan-friendly.[141] The cheese is processed with vegetable-based rennet in order to be suitable for vegetarians.[140] In April 2010, Chipotle began testing a vegan "Garden Blend" option, which is a plant-based meat alternative marinated in chipotle adobo, at six locations in the U.S.[142][143] The flour tortillas used for the burritos and soft tacos are the only items that contain gluten.[140]
Food sourcing[edit]
In 1999, while looking for ways to improve the taste of the carnitas,[20] founder Steve Ells was prompted by an article written by Edward Behr to visit Concentrated Animal Feeding Operations (CAFOs).[144] Ells found the CAFOs "horrific", and began sourcing from open-range pork suppliers. This caused an increase in both the price and the sales of the carnitas burritos.[76]
In 2001, Chipotle released a mission statement called Food With Integrity, which highlighted Chipotle's efforts to increase their use of naturally raised meat, organic produce, and dairy without added hormones.[7] Chipotle only uses the leg and thigh meat from its chickens; the breast meat is sold to Panera Bread.[145]
Customers at a Chipotle restaurant in Fredericksburg, Virginia
Ells has testified before the United States Congress in support of the Preservation of Antibiotics for Medical Treatment Act, which aims to reduce the amount of antibiotics given to farm animals.[76][146]
Since 2006, the Coalition of Immokalee Workers (CIW), a Floridian farmworker organization, has protested Chipotle's refusal to sign a Fair Food agreement, which would commit the restaurant chain to pay a penny-per-pound premium on its Florida tomatoes to boost tomato harvesters' wages, and to only buy Florida tomatoes from growers who comply with the Fair Food Code of Conduct.[147] In 2009, the creators of the documentary film Food, Inc. (along with 31 other leaders in the sustainable food movement) signed an open letter of support for the CIW's campaign, stating that, "If Chipotle is sincere in its wishes to reform its supply chain, the time has come to work with the Coalition of Immokalee Workers as a true partner in the protection of farmworkers rights."[148] In September 2009, Chipotle announced that it would sidestep partnership with the CIW and instead work directly with East Coast Growers and Packers to increase wages for its tomato pickers.[149] Ells framed the dispute as a fundamental issue of control, stating that, "the CIW wants us to sign a contract that would let them control Chipotle's decisions regarding food in the future."[150] In October 2012, Chipotle signed an agreement with the CIW and became the 11th company to join the organization's Fair Food Program.[151]
In January 2015, Chipotle pulled carnitas from its menu in a third of its restaurants; company officials cited animal welfare problems at one of the suppliers, found during a regular audit, as the reason.[152] Subsequently, a false rumor spread online claiming it was done to appease Muslims who consider pork to be unclean, leading to some protests on social media.[153] The company still uses antibiotic-free and hormone-free steak in its restaurants, despite being briefly forced to "serve beef that is not naturally raised" during the summer of 2013, posting an in-store notice each time that occurred.[154] Roberto Ferdman of The Washington Post opined that Chipotle's stated mission to sell "food with integrity" may be "untenable" if meat producers continue to breach Chipotle's ethical standards.[152]
Also in 2015, Chipotle stopped using genetically modified corn and soy beans in their foods, claiming to be the first nationwide restaurant to cook completely GMO free.[155] This was done in response to increasing consumer demand for GMO free products.
Food safety[edit]
External video "How Chipotle made hundreds of people barf". Vox report dated January 6, 2016, explaining Chipotle's "food safety crisis".
Since 2008, a former Kansas State University food safety professor has accused Chipotle of confusing the public by using such terms as "naturally raised meats", "organic ingredients", and "locally sourced" and trying to equate those terms with food safety.[156] In rebuttal, a Chipotle spokesperson told The Daily Beast that "all of our practices have always been very much within industry norms. It's important to note that restaurant practices are regulated by health codes, and restaurants are routinely inspected by health officials. Everything we have done in our supply chain and in our restaurants has been within industry norms."[156] Yet, FiveThirtyEight pointed out that the 2015 norovirus outbreak appears to be unusual[157] and others are criticizing their food sourcing or handling practices.[158][159] MarketWatchwrote that the result of all of these outbreaks will be to force Chipotle to obtain their produce from larger corporate farms that can afford the more extensive microbial food-safety testing programs and to process vegetables at centralized locations instead of at the individual stores, both of which are industry-standard practices that the company had previously criticized.[160] The New York Times implied that the company's insistence on maintaining its long standing rhetoric about "food integrity" seemed to be quite opposite with the realities of recent current events and made it appear that the management was just ignoring their current problems.[161] It also has been pointed out that Chipotle's current record-keeping system is actually hindering the health authorities' investigation in locating the sources of the various infections.[161]
A writer for the magazine Popular Science pointed out that Chipotle had publicly acknowledged that they "may be at a higher risk for food-borne illness outbreaks than some competitors due to our use of fresh produce and meats rather than frozen, and our reliance on employees cooking with traditional methods rather than automation."[162][163][164] Henry I. Miller, a medical researcher and columnist and the founding director of the FDA's Office of Biotechnology, asked: "One wonders whether Chipotle’s "traditional methods" include employees' neglecting to wash their hands before preparing food, which is how norovirus is usually spread. And the fresh versus frozen dichotomy is nothing more than a snow-job. Freezing E. coli-contaminated food does not kill the pathogens; it preserves them."[165] Describing food poisoning outbreaks as "something of a Chipotle trademark; the recent ones are the fourth and fifth this year [2015], one of which was not disclosed to the public", Miller notes that "a particularly worrisome aspect of the company's serial deficiencies is that there have been at least three unrelated pathogens in the outbreaks – Salmonella and E. coli bacteria and norovirus. In other words, there has been more than a single glitch; suppliers and employees have found a variety of ways to contaminate what Chipotle cavalierly sells (at premium prices) to its customers."[165]
A writer for the North Carolina newspaper The News & Observer called Chipotle's "food with integrity" a "lucrative farce" and a "marketing ploy" by pointing out that organic food is "often grown with manure (an 'all-natural' fertilizer), which can certainly increase the risks of accidentally spreading fecal bacteria like E. coli."[166]
In December 2015, Seattle health officials closed a Seattle-area Chipotle for a day after it had repeatedly had small numbers of violations during recent consecutive inspections that previously would not have generated a closure order.[167] On December 10, 2015, CEO Steve Ells released a press statement apologizing for 2015 outbreaks and promised changes to minimize the risks of future outbreaks.[168]
March 2008 hepatitis outbreak[edit]
In March and April 2008, the Community Epidemiology Branch of the San Diego County Health and Human Services Agency traced a hepatitis A outbreak in San Diego County to a single Chipotle restaurant located in La Mesa, California in which 22 customers were infected with the virus.[169][170]
April 2008 norovirus outbreak[edit]
In 2008, Chipotle was implicated in a norovirus outbreak in Kent, Ohio, where over 400 people became ill after eating at a Chipotle restaurant.[171] Officials at the Ohio Department of Health said that the outbreak was caused by Norovirus Genotype G2.[172] Many of the victims were students at Kent State University.[173] The initial source of the outbreak was never found.
February 2009 Campylobacter jejuni outbreak[edit]
In 2009, an investigation by the Minnesota Department of Health traced an outbreak of campylobacteriosis to a Chipotle Mexican Grill in Apple Valley, Minnesota.[174][175][176] The investigation found that chicken was sometimes served undercooked by the restaurant and determined that lettuce which had been cross-contaminated with raw or undercooked chicken was the vector for the outbreak.[177][178][third-party source needed]
July 2015 E. coli outbreak[edit]
In early November 2015, The Oregonian reported that there was a little-known E. coli outbreak that had occurred earlier in July in which five people were infected with the O157:H7 strain of E. coli. The outbreak was traced to a single Chipotle location in Seattle and that the incident was not publicized at that time.[179][180] Seattle public health officials defended their actions at that time by saying that the outbreak was over by the time they made an association with Chipotle. Health officials were unable to trace the source of the July outbreak and said that the cause of the July outbreak is unrelated to the October/November outbreak.[179]
August 2015 norovirus outbreak[edit]
Another norovirus outbreak was confirmed to have occurred in August 2015 at a Simi Valley, California location in which 80 customers and 18 employees reported becoming ill.[181][182] Ventura County health inspectors found various health violations during two inspections following the outbreak report.[183] Despite those violations, the county health officials did not close the restaurant and allowed it to continue to operate.[181] In a January 2016 article, The New York Times reported that the number of victims involved in the Simi Valley norovirus outbreak was actually 207, twice the number that was reported earlier.[184]
In an unusual move, the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Central District of California in conjunction with the Food and Drug Administration has gotten a federal grand jury to issue a subpoena in January 2016 as part of a criminal investigation seeking documents and information from Chipotle concerning the Simi Valley norovirus outbreak.[184][185] As of January 2016, it is too early to tell which organization is the actual target of the investigation. In most cases involving norovirus outbreaks that involved a single location, state and/or local authorities are the usual jurisdiction responsible in the investigation and prosecution of those type of cases. However, Ventura County officials had been criticized for their handling of parts of their investigation, and for allowing the restaurant to continue to operate after finding health violations during consecutive inspections.
Less than two weeks later, a federal class action lawsuit was filed in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California claiming that Chipotle knowingly allowed an ill kitchen manager to work for two days before sending that person home. Then, the restaurant actively deep-cleaned the restaurant to remove all traces of contamination prior to notifying the Ventura County Environmental Health Division of the existing outbreak, hindering their investigation. The lawsuit also claimed that the number of known victims was as high as 234 and estimates that the number of meals that the infected employee may have come in contact with could be as high 3,000.[186][187][188]
August 2015 Salmonella outbreak[edit]
At almost the same time as the Simi Valley norovirus outbreak, Minnesota health officials confirmed a Salmonella outbreak that affected 17 Minneapolis-area Chipotle restaurants in mid-August 2015. The source of the outbreak was traced back to contaminated tomatoes that were grown in Mexico.[189][190] The Minnesota Department of Health reported that samples from 45 victims were tested and found that their illness was caused by the Salmonella Newport bacterium as determined by DNA profiling.[191] Later, the state officials reported that the total of persons who became infected was increased to 64 and the number Chipotle locations in which they had acquired the bacterium was increased to 22, all located within the state of Minnesota.[192]
October 2015 E. coli outbreak[edit]
In October 2015, at least 22 people were reported to have gotten sick after eating at several different Chipotle locations in the states of Washington and Oregon. At that time, an epidemiologist for the Washington State Department of Health said the culprit appeared to be a Shiga toxin-producing Escherichia coli bacterium, but they were still waiting the outcome of several laboratory tests before they could give a definitive result.[193][194][195] As a precaution, Chipotle had closed 43 stores in Washington and Oregon pending the results and recommendations of the involved health authorities. On November 5, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) had reported that the number of persons reported ill had risen to 40 known cases and that the bacteria samples taken from 7 infected persons in Washington and 3 persons in Oregon states were confirmed to be infected by the same strain of E. coli, the Shiga toxin-producing STEC O26 strain, as determined by DNA profiling.[196] At least 12 persons required hospitalization, but no fatalities. As of November 2015, Health authorities were still trying to trace the exact source of the bacterial contamination, but suspected fresh produce.[197]
On November 12, the CDC increased the number of known cases to 50, the number of persons requiring hospitalization to 14, and the number of DNA fingerprint confirmations to 33.[198] Through a match via Pulsenet, the DNA fingerprint also matched a recent case in Minnesota, but the ill person did not eat at Chipotle. The source of the bacteria infection still had not yet been determined at the time of the report released by the CDC and the CDC is trying to use the more definitive, but more time-consuming whole genome sequencing procedure to see if they are able to determine the relationships between all of the STEC O26 cases. In the meantime, Chipotle reopened the closed restaurants on November 11 after disposing all of the food within the closed facilities and deep cleaning those facilities.[199]
On November 20, the CDC reported that the number of STEC O26 cases, as determined by DNA fingerprinting, had increased to 45 with 16 persons requiring hospitalization and the total number states being affected had increased to six.[200] Besides Oregon and Washington, new cases were reported in the states of Minnesota, California, New York, and Ohio.[201] 43 out of 45 of the affected individuals had reported that they had eaten at a Chipotle in the week before they had become sick.
On December 4, the CDC reported that the number of STEC O26 cases, as determined by DNA fingerprinting, had increased to 52 with 20 persons requiring hospitalization and the total number states being affected had increased to nine.[202] New cases were reported in the states of California (1), Illinois (1), Maryland (1), Ohio (2), Pennsylvania (1), and Washington (1).[203]
The price of shares for Chipotle stock dropped a further 12% immediately after the CDC had issued their update on November 20.[204] Share prices had been dropping since the initial announcement of the E. coli outbreak in late October with investors unsure if the drop in share prices just a temporary aberration and that Chipotle management is handling the incident as well as they could. Chipotle has since hired a consultant to improve their food safety program and have their program reviewed by both the CDC and FDA.[205]
On February 1, 2016, the CDC official closed their investigations on the larger E. coli that started in Pacific Northwest in October 2015 and also the smaller outbreak that started in Kansas and Oklahoma in November since no new cases were reported since December 1.[206] In their final report, the CDC stated that 55 persons in 11 states were infected with the same strain of STEC O26 during the major outbreak with 21 of those persons requiring hospitalization. The five persons infected in the later outbreak were made ill by a genetically different strain of STEC O26. The CDC also reported that federal and local health and food safety authorities were unable to detect traces of the microorganisms in any of the food samples taken from the suspected restaurants or from their supply chain. The CDC, FDA, and the USDA Food Safety and Inspection Service were unable to determine a point source that was in common in the meals that were consumed by all the victims since some of the restaurants were located far apart and had obtained some of their ingredients from different suppliers while other consumers of the suspected suppliers were not affected.
November 2015 E. coli cases[edit]
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported on December 21 that five more people became ill after eating at two Chipotle restaurants located in Kansas and Oklahoma in late November. Preliminary DNA fingerprinting results appear to indicated that the newer cases were caused by a different strain of Shiga toxin-producing E. coli O26. Scientists are waiting for the results of the more definitive whole genome sequencing analyses to determine if the organisms responsible for this outbreak are genetically related to the E. coli that are responsible for causing the outbreak that had started in Oregon and Washington in late October and thus an extension of that outbreak. The agency has not yet determined which food is responsible for the outbreak.[207] The Food and Drug Administration reported that they are trying to determine how the bacteria in these cases, along with the earlier Oregon, Washington, and other multi-state cases, might have been propagated through the food supply chain.[208]
December 2015 norovirus outbreak[edit]
The closed restaurant on December 16, 2015
In December 2015, eighty students at Boston College, including members of the men's basketball team, were sickened after eating at a single Chipotle restaurant. Affected students had been tested for both E. coli and norovirus in order to determine the cause of the illnesses.[209][210] Although it would take as long as two days before the results of more definitive tests became known, public health investigators reported that preliminary tests pointed to the presence of norovirus.[211] The health inspectors for the City of Boston had since closed this particular location on December 7 for a number of health violations that included maintaining meats at a too low of a temperature on the serving line and for allowing a sick employee to work at the time of the inspection.[212]
On December 10, officials from the Boston Public Health Commission reported that tests had identified a single strain of norovirus that is responsible for this particular outbreak.[213] Boston Globe reported on December 10 that 141 persons were reported to have gotten ill and that some of the newer victims had not visited Chipotle before contracting the virus[214] and most likely became infected by being in close proximity to someone who had gotten ill at Chipotle, such as a roommate or dorm-mate.[213] Boston authorities traced the cause of the outbreak to a sick employee who was allowed to work on the day of the outbreak. Chipotle has since fired the employee and also the manager who knowingly allowed the ill worker to complete his shift instead of following health codes.[215]
Consequences of the multiple incidents in 2015[edit]
On February 8, 2016, Chipotle closed all of its eateries nationwide for a few hours during the morning for an all-staff meeting on food safety.[216] The company hired a new head of food safety, who instituted changes including having all employees wash hands every half hour, having two employees verify that produce like onions, jalapeños and avocados have been immersed in hot water for five seconds to kill germs on their exteriors, and using Pascalization to pre-treat food ingredients.[217]
Since the series of food-poisoning outbreaks in 2015 lowered trust in the product, Chipotle has tried to lure back its customers with free food and heavier advertising. Same-store sales increased 17.8% percent in the first quarter of 2017.[218]
July 2017 norovirus outbreak[edit]
Despite corrective actions, the company faced another setback in implementing their safe food policies in July 2017. A norovirus outbreak is being investigated in Virginia. More than 130 people reported having norovirus-like symptoms and two individuals had tested positive for the virus after eating at a Chipotle restaurant in Sterling, Virginia. The Loudoun County Health Department confirmed the illnesses from July 13–16, 2017. Shares of Chipotle's stock stumbled more than 10% on this news[219][220] and also the news that customers had posted videos of mice skittering through a Chipotle restaurant in Dallas just a few days before the norovirus incident was reported.[221][222] On July 25, several news agencies reported that Chipotle officials confirmed that the "recent norovirus outbreak in Virginia was the result of lax sick policy enforcement by store managers" and that the company believed that an employee was the cause of the outbreak.[223][222]
July 2018 Clostridium perfringens outbreak[edit]
In late July 2018, Ohio public health officials launched an investigation after receiving 368 complaints from customers after they had eaten at a Powell, Ohio, location.[224] By mid-August, the U.S. Ce

Local Handyman Services: Choosing the Right One for You
If you live in a larger town or city, there can be a number of local handyman services to choose from. The quality of work and of the customer service they deliver ultimately comes down to the individual who is in your home, be that person an employee, partner in a handyman service, or a lone handy man. But there are differences you can anticipate in the many types of handyman businesses out there. Let's consider the likely candidates you will run into
here are many handyman franchises that a business owner can buy. The most successful of these franchises are larger handyman companies with lots of glossy advertisements, trucks or vans with full-body graphics, and can have many employees. Like any franchise local handyman services, much of the work is done for the franchise owner, he or she simply plugs in the different marketing tools and advertisements that are supplied to them in their franchise package and get to work finding employees. This does make the job easier than starting a business from scratch, particularly in a field which they may not be that familiar with. The downside for them is they must pay for all of these bells and whistles, just as with any franchise. This leaves them with a lot of overhead and a small profit margin. In growing their company and employing more workers they start to make money, however the temptation is there to charge a lot for any and all home repairs. If you've ever gotten a number of bids for a given home maintenance project, you've probably been amazed at the range of prices. The handyman franchise will likely be at the higher end of the spectrum here.
The advantage to using large franchised home repair services is they are likely to be able to get to your project very quickly, if they have a number of employees. This can be a big deal if you have an emergency repair to be handled and relatives coming in for a visit. As a helpful tip, talk to the salesman or owner about their employees. Find out who the best guys are. Not all handyman are created equal, and with any given handy man service they will have a couple-three guys who are top-notch craftsman, the rest will be average to good, and one or two who you'd just as soon not have in your house. This is a generality of course, but is pretty consistent with many construction, property maintenance or home repair companies. A few quick questions will tell you who their best guys are, and when you can get them scheduled to do your home repair. If those guys are booked up, then it does defeat the purpose of going with a larger, multi-employee handyman service.
The next option you will find is the smaller company built up from scratch with the owner doing a lot of the work, or with maybe one or two workers. Or this may be the owner and a helper. The advantage to you here is there is a greater sense of accountability with these smaller home handyman services. If there is a problem you won't get 'lost in the shuffle' in getting things handled to your satisfaction. This may be as simple as a quick conversation to clear the air about any confusions, but with a larger company even this can turn into an ordeal.
With a smaller two or three-man operation, asking about their 'best guy' is no longer an issue. Handyman companies of this size either do good work or not. This is determined by the owner. If he is a quality-minded craftsman he will expect this level of work from his help. A handyman service of this size has nowhere near the overhead of a handyman franchise; chances are you will get a better price from them, however even with one employee this creates a drain from the income of the business owner. He has to keep his guy busy and keep him paid, or he'll be quitting, or finding jobs from other sources and thereby become difficult to schedule, so this will be a priority for the business owner. However he probably has a family to feed as well, so needs to make a solid income himself. His prices may be a bit higher.
Next we have the lone handyman. He is a one-man-show. You can get a real mixed bag here. At the low-end is the guy who just wants enough work to keep him in the bar every afternoon. At the top of the scale is the perfectionist craftsman who does not like working for or with others who don't share the same level of professionalism in doing home improvements, even with something as simple as cleaning up when they are done. As far as professional handyman services go, the individual handyman will have the lowest overhead and business expenses. If he is an expert home repair specialist he will probably charge a rate that matches his level of skill, however with probably very low operating costs, his handyman rates will be at the lower end of the scale.
In dealing with any handyman repair service it cannot be stressed often enough that you should get references from each business when you are trying to find a handyman, then call the people on that list. This little bit of homework need not be as difficult as it sounds and can save you from enormous potential headaches. The larger the home repair project, the more this factor applies. A call to your local BBB will weed out the bad eggs, but actually talking to the happy customers of a handy man service will give you a great deal of confidence that you are making a good decision, and talking to other customers may give you ideas of other remodeling or home repair projects you may want done around the house.

sorry i don't want to cast doubt on your experience but i'm confused as to why your phone bill is $500 for 3 months? that seems so high but idk canadian phone stuff
no this is a fair question! our phone bill has 2 lines on it for about $75/month each. we get unlimited canada-wide minutes and international texting and 5gb of data. in 3 months, excluding tax and our internet bill, we’re at $450 already. yikes! so i rounded to $500 to accommodate a bit of our internet bill every month.
canada has some of the highest phone plans in the world. here are a few articles discussing it. along with domestic flights, it’s just unreasonably expensive because there’s like 4 big companies (rogers, telus, shaw, and bell/bce inc) that own almost all the towers. the federal government has been pressured for decades now to do literally anything about it, but like the domestic flight market, they generally refuse to get involved.
(whether or not politicians being financially invested in telecommunications is neither here nor there!!)
whenever independent companies pop up, they’re quickly bought by the bigger companies (koodo [telus], wind mobile [shaw], fido [rogers], etc). if they aren’t bought out, they aren’t allowed access to most of the towers in canada. and so their service is terrible, everyone cancels their cheap plans, and then... well... they die out or are bought anyway.
companies say that canada has such a challenging environment and such a widely spread out population, but one of the articles talks about how australia has bigger challenges and australian companies still manage to provide cheaper rates. so. interesting.
imo it’s totally fair to be confused about such a high phone bill considering equivalent american phone plans can be up to 35% cheaper!
edit sept 2/20: grammar because it was bothering me

E-PORTFOLIO IN MEDIA AND INFORMATION LITERACY
MEDIA AND INFORMATION LITERACY
MEDIA
Media is the communication outlets or tools used to store and deliver information or data. The term refers to components of the mass media communications industry, such as print media, publishing, the news media, photography, cinema, broadcasting (radio and television), and advertising.
It describes the various ways through which we communicate in society. Because it refers to all means of communication, everything ranging from a telephone call to the evening news on television can be called media.
When talking about reaching a very large number of people we say mass media. Local media refers to, for example, your local newspaper, or local/regional TV/radio channels.
The Communication Process
In order to understand how information flows within the media, we should first understand how
basic communication works.
The communication process has several components that enable the transmission of a message.
Here are the various parts:
1. Sender: This is the person that is delivering a message to a recipient.
2. Message: This refers to the information that the sender is relaying to the receiver. 3. Channel of communication: This is the transmission or method of delivering the message. 4. Decoding: This is the interpretation of the message. Decoding is performed by the receiver. 5. Receiver: The receiver is the person who is getting or receiving the message. 6. Feedback: In some instances, the receiver might have feedback or a response for the sender.
This starts can interaction. In order to successfully communicate, it's important to understand how the process works. Here are the seven steps in the communication process:
1. The sender develops an idea to be sent 2. The sender encodes the message 3. The sender selects the channel of communication that will be used 4. The message travels over the channel of communication 5. The message is received by the receiver 6. The receiver decodes the message 7. The receiver provides feedback, if applicable.
Concepts in Shannon Weaver Model
In 1948, Shannon was an American mathematician, Electronic engineer and Weaver was an American scientist both of them join together to write an article in “Bell System Technical Journal” called “A Mathematical Theory of Communication” and also called as “Shannon-Weaver model of communication”. This model is specially designed to develop the effective communication between sender and receiver. Also they find factors which affecting the communication process called “Noise”. At first the model was developed to improve the Technical communication. Later it’s widely applied in the field of Communication.
Sender (Information source) – Sender is the person who makes the message, chooses the channel and sends the message.
Encoder (Transmitter) –Encoder is the sender who uses machine, which converts message into signals or binary data. It might also directly refer to the machine.
Channel –Channel is the medium used to send message.
Decoder (Receiver) – Decoder is the machine used to convert signals or binary data into message or the receiver who translates the message from signals.
Noise is unwanted sound considered unpleasant, loud or disruptive to hearing. In experimental sciences, noise can refer to any random fluctuations of data that hinders perception of a signal.
External noise cannot be reduced except by changing the location of the receiver or the entire system.
Internal noise on the other hand can be easily evaluated Mathematically and can be reduced to a great extent by proper design.
Feedback Mechanism
There are other improvements to this basic model of communication. A very important factor is a feedback. If your readers or listeners nodded in agreement, then that is your clue or signal that they understood what you said. That nod is a feedback. If their eyebrows meet or react to show that they disagree with what you said, that is also a feedback.
A feedback mechanism is a loop system wherein the system responds to a perturbation. The response may be in the same direction (as in positive feedback) or in the opposite direction (as in negative feedback).
Media as an Information Industry
The information industry or information industries are industries that are information intensive in one way or the other. It is considered one of the most important economic sectors for a variety of reasons. There are many different kinds of information industries, and many different ways to classify them.
The media and entertainment industry consists of film, print, radio, and television. These segments include movies, TV shows, radio shows, news, music, newspapers, magazines, and books. The top 10 media and entertainment companies are The Walt Disney Company, 21st Century Fox, Direct Group Holdings (DIRECTV), Time Warner Inc., NBC Universal, National Amusements Inc., CBS Corporation, Viacom Inc., News Corporation, and TEGNA Inc. The U.S. media and entertainment industry contributes more than $632 billion to the economy and represents a third of the global industry.
Media as an Culture of Entertainment
By comparison, culture — the knowledge, beliefs, and practices of groups large and small — is not necessarily formalized. Culture is necessary for enjoying and making sense of the human experience, but there are few formalized rules governing culture. Mass communication influences both society and culture. Different societies have different media systems, and the way they are set up by law influences how the society works. Different forms of communication, including messages in the mass media, give shape and structure to society. Additionally, mass media outlets can spread cultural knowledge and artistic works around the globe. People exercise cultural preferences when it comes to consuming media, but mass media corporations often decide which stories to tell and which to promote, particularly when it comes to forms of mass media that are costly to produce such as major motion pictures, major video game releases and global news products. More than any other, the field of mass communication transmits culture. At the same time, it helps institutional society try to understand itself and whether its structures are working.
Kinds of Media
Different Types of Media The goal of media is to convey an advertising message to the audience through the most
appropriate media channel for their product. In general, you can classify media in three main categories.
1. Traditional Media covers the kinds of media that were invented prior to the invention of the internet. advertising channels that have been used for decades. These are the tried-and-true methods that businesses have relied on for years. These channels can be pretty effective, and for many businesses, they account for the entirety of the advertising budget.
Print Media This type of news media used to be the only way of delivering information to the public. For the generations of the 80s and 90s, print media was the only media of entertain. People relied on newspapers and magazines to learn everything, from recipes and entertainment news to important information about the country or the world. is a collective term for media printed on paper. It also includes small-circulation community-based newspapers and magazines as well as alternative print publications aiming at smaller audiences with issues and opinions beyond the mainstream.
Print media includes:
a. Newspapers – printed and distributed on a daily or weekly basis. They include news related to sports, politics, technology, science, local news, national news, international news, birth notices, as well as entertainment news related to fashion, celebrities, and movies. Today’s parents grew up with this type of printed media.
b. Magazines – printed on a weekly, monthly, quarterly, or annual basis. It contains information about finance, food, lifestyle, fashion, sports, etc.
c. Books – focused on a particular topic or subject, giving the reader a chance to spread their knowledge about their favorite topic. d. Banners – used to advertise a company’s services and products, hung on easily-noticed sights to attract people’s attention. e. Billboards – huge advertisements created with the help of computers. Their goal is to attract people passing by. f. Brochures – a type of booklet that includes everything about one company – its products, services, terms and conditions, contact details, address, etc. They are either distributed with the newspapers, or hand over to people. g. Flyers – used mostly by small companies due to the low cost of advertising. They contain the basic information about a company, their name, logo, service or product, and contact information, and they are distributed in public areas.
Broadcasting Media Broadcasting media includes videos, audios, or written content that provides important or entertaining information shared by different methods; involves electronically and simultaneously sending information containing signals, print messages and audio or video content to a vast group of recipients using television, radio, newspapers, magazines and digital media including the Internet, emails and texts.
a. Television – in the past, there were a few channels sharing various types of content, whereas now we have hundreds of TV channels to choose from. Each channel delivers a different type of content, so you have a separate channel for news, drama, movies, sports, animation, nature, travel, politics, cartoon, and religion. It’s the number one broadcasting media due to its reach to the audience. b. Radio – uses radio waves to transmit entertaining, informative, and educative content to the public. Due to its high reach to the audience, radio is widely used for advertising products and services. Radio is one of the oldest means of entertainment, and today people often hear it to find out the weather and traffic while commuting. c. Movies – film, motion picture, screenplay, moving picture, or movie has world-wide reachability. It’s the best type of mass media to promote cultures and spread social awareness. Movies have always played a huge part in the entertainment world.
2. New Media New media was a term coined to refer media that developed when the use of computer technology became ordinary and common in most parts of the world. Internet Media Nowadays, we are relying on the Internet to get the news a lot more often than the traditional news sources. Websites provide information in the form of video, text, and audio. We can even choose the way we want to receive the news. Means of mass communication using digital technologies such as the Internet.
Types of Internet media include:
a. Social networks or websites – including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, Tumblr, LinkedIn, Snapchat, Quora, Reddit, Pinterest, etc. They are user-friendly and widely used by people around the world. Although we can find any news here, they may be misleading because of the lack of regulations on the content shared.
b. Online forums - an online place where we can comment, message, or discuss a particular topic. Forums allow us to share knowledge with other people with the same interest. That’s why it’s regarded as the best platform to seek support and assistance.
c. Podcast – a series of audios focused on a particular topic or theme. We can listen to them on a computer or a mobile phone. It’s a platform that allows anyone to share their knowledge and communicate with the world.

Because Arthur is studying art in this AU, this means that his connection to Dutch isn't from work or something but maybe more like Dutch fostering him and John (mostly to look good in the public eye, but who knows?). Well, it's hard out there as a man who began his own law firm on his own with just his close 'friend' Hosea, his competitors being Colm, an Irish immigrant who came here for the 'American Dream', and the Bells, who are originally from California but also have business locations here and have been in the business since Granddaddy Bell created the firm in the 70s.
OG Anon
I like to think Dutch and Hosea were an established couple when they began their company. Adopting Arthur, and later on John, was a decision pushed by Hosea, who wanted a kid. And Dutch, wanting to make his sweetheart happy, agreed and so they adopted Arthur, which well, I suppose was an act of love for Hosea and also a way to boost their image. But I do think Dutch does genuinely love Arthur, and adopting John was actually Dutch's idea.
While Arthur is studying art, Dutch does make it a point to try and instill some of his law knowledge into him, which explains why Arthur vaguely knows some information about it.
The Bell law firm has been around longer than the other companies, and while they're not the biggest company, they currently do have power and a solid standing in the field, producing successful lawyers for several generations. Of course, after Micah eventually ends up abandoning his family, the Bell Inc. quietly writes him out (me thinks at least)
Then Dutch and Colm formed their own law firms around the same time, and while they were originally business partners, this partnership ended after a case went wrong, which sparked their rivalry.

And will they be able to rebound with Michigan State?
Program was about developing the whole young man, not just the athlete, Sirkin said. Idea was: how do you teach them to be good citizens? How do you teach them to be good family members? How do you teach them to be good friends? first Sports U team was an average squad, but by the third year Bright brought on St. Anthony assistant Brian Coleman as coach and he provided instant credibility.
It is about time everybody stopped picking on Jerry Krause. I am one of the few people that defend him in the state of Illinois cheap nfl jerseys, and I believe that the fans should support the team, not the players who have left the team. MJ will always be an icon in Chicago, but he was just as selfish as the press makes Krause out to be.

And The Sun Will Rise Again (SLBP - Mitsuhide)
Description: Mitsuhide discovers the hard way that some things are worse than death. Warnings: Rated M (non-explicit description of intercourse). Spoilers for Mitsuhide’s act 2 divine ending and epilogue. Trigger warning for suicide. Word Count: 1377 (~ 7 minutes of angst)
AO3: Read here
Author’s Notes: This is my reworking of Mitsuhide’s act 2 divine ending (I have yet to play his noble ending — please excuse me if there’s any overlap between the stories). I took some creative license in trying to incorporate some historical tidbits/conspiracy theories regarding what happened to the actual man himself after the Honno-ji incident. As such, there may be some canon-divergences for other SLBP characters mentioned in the story. Hope you all enjoy it!
Tagging: @fromthedeskofelizabeththird: because your angsty stories never fail to hit me like a punch to the gut (in a good way)! The birds were twittering loudly when Mitsuhide awoke to see bright sunlight filtering into the bedchamber. He swallowed painfully, trying to rid his mouth of its strange, sickly sweet taste and push away the dull ache in his head. Feeling thoroughly disoriented, as if he had spent days in slumber and not his usual six hours, he finally thinks to take a look around.
The enormity of what had come to pass hits him like a sudden summer storm when he sees her, body stiff and face with the pallor of a broken doll, lying resignedly on the futon they shared every night since becoming man and wife during happier times.
Poison. The poisoned tea had taken her life and not his. And Mitsuhide thought himself the most insidious poison of all, letting an innocent girl from Kyoto suffer through the trials and tribulations of a love that was doomed from the start. No, happiness wasn’t his lot in life, but once he had found it in her arms, it was impossible to let go and slowly, his misfortune bled into hers. What a wretched, selfish creature I am.
How he cursed the gods at that moment for taking her and making him suffer the cruel fate of being left behind. But it wasn’t until he awoke days later, finding the blood-stained blade of his wakizashi strewn next to him and the flood of maroon on his white shini-shozuku, that he realized the extent of this cruelty: no matter what he did, the sweet release of death would never come to claim him. For Akechi Jubei Mitsuhide was immortal. And the perfectly healed line of pink running from left to right on his abdomen proved it.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“Mr. Akechi, how is it that you manage to look so young year after year? What’s your secret?”
“I swear, this man never ages.”
A polite smile spreads onto Mitsuhide’s face as he pushes the fork into his slice of birthday cake, his fellow teachers crowding around him with curious glances and congratulations. He is careful to brush off their observations with the usual modest pleasantries, trying to make it through this tenth of March, one of the hardest days of the year, as best he could.
Mitsuhide catches his reflection in the window, and for a moment he spies hers next to him. The din of jovial conversation in the room dies away, and he can almost hear her whisper in his ear, “Happy birthday, my love,” just as she had centuries ago.
So much has happened since, Mitsuhide’s identity through the ages shifting like sand on a shore, changing according to the tides of the times. A wanderer before he found the light of Lord Nobunaga’s vision, a wanderer now after the light of his life had been extinguished.
Sakamoto Castle, where he used to gaze fondly at the serenity of Lake Biwa by her side, was disassembled stone by stone by Toyotomi Hideyoshi to furnish one of his own. In much the same way, the clever general systematically blotted out Mitsuhide’s name and rewrote his reputation in the annals of history. Even today, stories depicting him as a villain make for sold-out shows at kabuki theatres, but for Mitsuhide, their sting has long since passed.
Tokugawa Ieyasu, the only other keeper of his secret, had recognized his considerable talents and persuaded him to join the shogunate as his advisor, going so far as sending his shinobi to seek him out at Kita-in temple, where he had entered monkhood under the name of Tenkai. But even Ieyasu — who used to admire his eternal youth and vigour — had to admit that he no longer envied the samurai who couldn’t die, giving Mitsuhide one final glance of pity through eyes dim with the encroachment of eternal sleep before succumbing to death’s summons. After serving two more Tokugawa shoguns, Mitsuhide decided it was time to finally move on.
But regardless of what he did and who he was, he could never move on from her. She was the constant fixture in his existence, an anchor mooring him amidst the choppy waves of fortune. And so it was that he waited, lifetime after lifetime, to meet her again.
“That’s the bell. Time to return to class.” Mitsuhide nods his head at his co-workers, pushing his spectacles up the bridge of his nose as he reaches for the thick stack of graded history papers on his desk. The staff room suddenly becomes a lot less imposing in his absence.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Another cruel trick of fate, he thought to himself, trying hard to control the heart that threatened to beat its way out of the cage of his chest. For there she was, his darling, the love of his cursed life, happily conversing with the other students in his classroom, absentmindedly curling a loose lock of hair about her index finger as she reached into her school bag to retrieve a textbook.
He would have recognized her anywhere, regardless of how much the passage of time threatened to blur the fidelity of his memories: the bright eyes, youthful yet harbouring a wisdom far beyond her years, the easy smile that he had sworn to always protect. Even her laughter, clearer than any temple bell ringing out in the mountains, threatened to bring him to his knees. Of course, these same qualities served to draw attention to her, and Mitsuhide was ashamed to find that he could be jealous of boys half his presumed age.
He would be patient. For now, it was enough to know that their paths had crossed in this lifetime. After all, he was no stranger to waiting, and time was the one thing he had in excess.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It had been so long since he was last with a woman that Mitsuhide was afraid he had forgotten what to do with one. In all those years, she had been the last person he held in his arms, and longing conspired with guilt to ensure his bed remained hostile to anyone but its proper mistress.
When he finally feels the enveloping slide of her warmth welcome him home after eons of being adrift, the moment is bittersweet: kismet, a perfect sense of belonging, yet a painful remainder of all the things that slipped through their hands like grains of sand. Words left unsaid and children they never had. And at the back of his mind, Mitsuhide is already counting down the days when the clock will stop ticking on a happiness so great as to almost be surreal.
“Where did you get this one from? A surgery of some kind?”
Her head is on his chest, breath coming out in soft heaves as she descends from the peak of her third climax of the night. Her fingers dance across his body, busily exploring all his old battle wounds, and now they trail gently over the strip across his stomach, so pale as to be almost unnoticeable if not for its sheer length. Mitsuhide gathers her hair in his palm and presses his lips to it, reminiscing on how easily the smooth tresses transformed into beautiful braids in his dextrous hands.
“An accident from when I was young and foolish.”
No, Mitsuhide had decided that she didn’t need to know, that she shouldn’t be burdened once again with the problems that were his alone to face. In an eternity of solitude, it was more than enough that she had deigned to grace him with her company for however long she wished to stay.
She nods solemnly, a pregnant pause in the air before she looks up at him to respond, “You don’t strike me as someone who’s ever behaved foolishly in their life, Mr. Akechi.”
In her eyes, he sees the same woman of ages past, ethereal in a white wedding kimono of his choosing. This woman had flushed vibrant pink under him when he encouraged her to address him as a wife addresses her husband, dropping all rank and formality.
“Have you forgotten? You’ve long since stopped being my student and I your teacher. You can call me Mitsuhide.”
And in the sweetness of her smile, the sun rises again on the interminable days of Akechi Jubei Mitsuhide’s life.

The plate commemorates the International Eucharistic Congress, which will open in Philadelphia on Aug. 1. Prince Rainier and Princess Grace will participate in the congress.
The Philadelphia Inquirer - July 12, 1976
Princess Grace, Prince Rainier host 300 at Bicentennial salute
By RUTH SELTZER
Monaco's Sovereign Prince Rainier III and his Philadelphia-born wife, Princess Grace, entertained 300 guests Friday at a cocktail reception at the Philadelphia Country Club in Gladwyne.
It was Monaco's Bicentennial salute to the United States and Philadelphia. It was a beautiful party.
Prince Rainier and Princess Grace welcomed guests. They stood in a receiving line with their three children, Princess Caroline, Prince Albert and Princess Stephanie. Princess Grace's brother, Councilman John B. Kelly Jr., was at the head of the line.
“Doesn't Grace look marvelous!" exclaimed one guest. "She never seems to look a year older!" said another.
Princess Grace wore a lovely white silk pajama ensemble.
There was an informality about the party - relaxed and very pleasant. Hors d'oeuvres - hot and cold - were served. A trio played background music.
We saw Princess Grace and Prince Rainier twice that day. Before going to the country club for the cocktail party, we attended a presentation ceremony in their honor.
At the ceremony, in a Barclay Hotel suite, the Rev. Joseph B. Graham presented a sterling silver paten - a plate for the eucharistic bread - to Prince Rainier and Princess Grace in recognition of the part they play "in Christian life throughout the world."
Father Graham is director of institutional services of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. Prince Rainier and Princess Grace will participate in the 41st International Eucharistic Congress, which will open in Philadelphia on Aug. 1. On Aug. 2, Rainier and Grace will keynote the plenary session of an all-day conference on family life. The conference will be held at the Philadelphia Civic Center.
At Friday's presentation ceremony was Mrs. Rosemary T. Callan, board chairman of the C & B Corp. of Warminster, Bucks County. There, too, were Saul Lapp, president of the firm, and John Neville, who is also an official of C & B. That firm has produced commemorative silver plates (exactly the same as the one given to Prince Rainier and Princess Grace). The plates will be sold (at $300 each) to help underwrite the expenses of the Philadelphia Archdiocese in hosting the Eucharistic Congress here.
The first plate, number 1, will be presented to Pope Paul VI. It will be accepted in his behalf at the Eucharistic Congress by James Cardinal Knox of Australia, who has been appointed papal legate to the congress.
Silver plates will also be presented to President Ford, Archbishop Jadot (the apostolic delegate to the United States), and John Cardinal Krol, Archbishop of Philadelphia.
Cardinal Krol attended Monaco's party Friday at the country club. He arrived at the same time that we did. For several minutes, Cardinal Krol chatted with Princess Grace and Prince Rainier.
Mr. and Mrs. Richard C. Bond were at the party. He is board chairman of Philadelphia ‘76 Inc., the city's Bicentennial agency. There, too, were City Representative Albert V. Gaudiosi and his wife, Cecelia; Deputy City Representative Anna Marie O'Brien and her husband, John T. O'Brien; William L. Rafsky (executive director of Philadelphia ‘76 Inc.) and his wife, Selma.
Princess Grace's mother, Mrs. John B. Kelly, was at the party. So were Grace's sisters, Mrs. Donald Caldwell LeVine and Mrs. Margaret Kelly Conlan. We talked with Mrs. LeVine (Lizanne) and her husband, Don.
Several of Princess Grace's cousins were there. Mrs. E. Shirley Turner came up from Middleburg, Va., for the party. She is Grace's cousin, Jean.
Princess Grace's cousin, John Lehman, and his wife, Barbara, flew up from Washington for the party. He is deputy director of the U. S. Arms Control and Disarmament Agency.
Mayor and Mrs. Frank L. Rizzo were invited, as were Gov. and Mrs. Milton J. Shapp. They sent regrets.
At the party, we said hello to Fire Commissioner Joseph Rizzo and his wife, Marge (the mayor's brother and sister-in-law). Police Commissioner Joseph F. O'Neill and his wife, Eleanor, were there.
Curtis P. Laupheimer, who is Monaco's consul in Philadelphia, and his wife, Betty greeted guests. So did Alfred J. Laupheimer Jr. and his wife, Jenny. Alfred and Curtis are brothers. Alfred, who now lives in Delray Beach, Fla., is Monaco's consul in Florida.
Mr. and Mrs. Joseph S. Rambo were at the party. Mrs. Rambo (Maree) was Princess Grace's bridesmaid. The wedding in Monaco took place in April 1956. Three months before the wedding, the engagement of Miss Grace Kelly to Prince Rainier III was announced at a luncheon given by her parents, Mrs. John B. Kelly and the late Mr. Kelly, at the Philadelphia Country Club.
At Friday's party, in the same clubhouse, were Trenton banker Mary G. Roebling; Wanamaker president Robert Drew Harrison and Mrs. Harrison; William S. Cashel (president of Bell Telephone Company of Pennsylvania) and Mrs. Cashel; G. Morris Dorrance (board chairman of Philadelphia National Bank) and Mrs. Dorrance; Thacher Longstreth (president of the Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce) and Mrs. Longstreth; Atlantic City Race Track president Robert P. Levy and Mrs. Levy; Philadelphia's City Council president George X. Schwartz and Mrs. Schwartz; Wilmington's Mayor Thomas C. Maloney and Mrs. Maloney.
The Rev. Dr. Leon Sullivan and Mrs. Sullivan were there. So were British Consul-General and Mrs. Denis Richards; Mr. and Mrs. George J. Hauptfuhrer Jr., Jules Lavin; Mrs. William T. Coleman Jr. (wife of the U. S. Secretary of Transportation) and her son, Bill; Mrs. Richard S. Schweiker (wife of the U. S. senator) and her son, Malcolm; Lennox Moak (the city's budget director) and his wife, Helen; U. S. District Judge and Mrs. A. Leon Higginbotham; U. S. District Judge and Mrs. John Morgan Davis; Mrs. Russell Austin; Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Farmer; Mr. and Mrs. John M. Seabrook; Tom Foglietta; Lt. Gen. and Mrs. Willard Pearson; Hillel Levinson (managing director of Philadelphia) and his bride, Caryl; Rear Adm. Wycliffe Toole Jr. (commandant of the Fourth Naval District) and Mrs. Toole; Mr. and Mrs. John Gribbel 2d; and Mr. and Mrs. James A. Nolen Jr.
Wharton Shober, president of Hahnemann Medical College and Hospital, was at the cocktail party. Earlier in the day, Mr. Shober gave a luncheon in Hahnemann's executive suite. Prince Albert, who is now 18, arrived with his uncle, Councilman Kelly. The luncheon, which we attended, was in honor of the U. S. Equestrian Team, on the eve of the team's departure for the 1976 Olympic Games. Prince Albert, heir to the throne of Monaco, presented a commemorative scroll to the team. The scroll, given on behalf of Hahnemann, was accepted by Jack LaGoff, the team's coach.
Last week in Philadelphia was summed up best by Marie Cashel, wife of the president of Bell Tel. Said she: "On Sunday, we went to a luncheon for the President of the United States. On Tuesday, we went to a dinner for the Queen of England. Today we are at a cocktail party given by the Prince and Princess of Monaco. Tomorrow, we'll get back to work in our garden."

Interest rates are unlikely to go back to the unnaturally low levels enjoyed over the last decade even if inflation is contained. Higher interest rates may stem inflation and demand, but the bigger issues regarding supply chains, security of supplies and geopolitical tensions will take some time, perhaps many years to address. In our view, the economic displacements resulting from the pandemic and the Ukraine war will not be fixed overnight. Recession or not, this is a very unusual circumstance wherein employment is at very high levels, while economic growth is slowing. Rising interest rates and high inflation have combined with the ongoing issues that arose during the pandemic and the stresses of the Ukraine war, creating great uncertainty as to the sustainability of an economic recovery let alone the rising likelihood of a recession. Since the end of June, the market has recovered roughly two-thirds of the loss since the beginning of the year. "command": " Sprung, president, Sprung Investment Management in the terminal, jump "forward" to the last first group in the terminal, jump "back" to the last editor group "when": "terminalHasBeenCreated & terminalIsOpen & activeEditorGroupLast", in the last editor group terminal, jump "forward" to the terminal (if there is a terminal open) "when": " terminalHasBeenCreated & terminalIsOpen & activeEditorGroupIndex = 1", in the first editor group terminal, jump "back" to the terminal (if there is a terminal open) Once the cursor is in the terminal section you can use ctrl+x ctrl+up or ctrl+x ctrl+down to cycle through the active terminals.Ĭmd-J is still used to hide/show the terminal pane. With this I can use ctrl+x to navigate to any visible editor or terminal. You can try adding this to your keybindings.json directly but I would recommend you go through the keybinding UI ( cmd+K cmd+S on a Mac) so you can review/manage conflicts etc. Here is my approach, which provides a consistent way of navigating between active terminals as well as jumping between the terminal and editor panes without closing the terminal view. In modern versions of VS Code (as of 2022) the Default Keyboard Shortcuts (JSON) file is read-only, so that is why for the custom settings you need to edit a separate dedicated file keybindings.json. With these shortcuts you can focus between the editor and the Integrated Terminal using the same keystroke. Toggle between terminal and editor focus Type " Preferences: Open Keyboard Shortcuts File" and press Enter.Īdd the following entries to the keybindings.json file: Open the Command Palette ( Ctrl+ Shift+ P Windows/Linux or ⇧ ⌘ P Mac). You can achieve the desired effect by adding the appropriate settings to the keybindings.json file. However you can compose the two steps by overloading the key and using the when clause. While there are a lot of modal toggles and navigation shortcuts for VS Code, there isn't one specifically for "move from editor to terminal, and back again".
