Annoy Me
Spock x Reader
Tumblr media
A/n: this is my first fanfic so go easy on me. Just thought there needed to be more Spock fics out there! Also this isn't a specific version of Spock I just liked this gif. Also the reader is a wee bit bratty and of a southern persuasion just a warning.
Summary: You can't help but to love hitting on Spock. Much to his annoyance. Anyday now he'll airlock you. And if not him then space hr would surely. But he comes to realize he looks forward to your teasing and even encourages it. The only thing is that it takes you dying for him to realize :(
Warnings: fem reader, angst, fluff, flirting, character death?, blood, injury, drowning, throwing up.
"Whats up hot stuff, what do ya need?" You say laying your pad down with an easy going grin. After all you can't help but to smile, it is a pleasant surprise that is Spock standing in your doorway.
Spock quirks a brow up, "I am neither an item nor is my temperature high." Crossing the threashold he stops about five feet in front of you. But even that is too close and brings butterflies to your belly, jitters to your hands, and makes your cheeks feel flush.
"Of course of course. Anyways, what's up?" You respond quickly to distract from your flustered feelings.
"I am here to remind you of the away mission scheduled today." He says stoicly, hands pressed firmly behind his back.
"Away mission? Today? I don't remember being told about this..."
"You were messaged about this an hour and fifteen minutes ago." Spock furrows his brow slightly. Had you really been so careless as to not see the message? Or had you read it and forgotten. Spock isn't sure which is more irresponsible. He finds it odd for you to do so. You are normally very hardworking and punctual.
"Oh... I must have over looked it. Not that I'm complaining. I got an excuse to see you." Your eyes scan him from head to toe suggestive yet filled with jest. "After all your company is always more than welcome. But uh could you summarize the mission for me? Since you're already here and all?"
"It is a standard mission. Simply a small away team to the surface of the planet to gather samples and scout the area."
"Yes I will be on the away team. There will also be two other science officers, three security officers, Dr. McCoy, and yourself. Does that satisfy all of your inquiries?" Spock states with the slightest hint of exasperation.
"Nothings simple or standard when it comes to away missions on the Enterprise..." You mutter under your breath.
"Oh also, who all is on the away team? And more importantly will I have the pleasure of you accompanying?" Oddly enough you finding yourself hoping he will be. When had your teases and jokes turned into genuine feelings? You can't help but to wonder...
"Yes it does, thank you very much! You're a lifesaver." You beam at Spock.
"I fail to see how my summarizing of an away mission is saving lives." He dead pans.
He finds himself thinking, ' Why am I dragging this conversation out further? She obviously did not mean her statement in a literal sense. I'm only encouraging her teasing. I must meditate on this later.'
"I look forward to seeing you then." You say genuinely. The only statement you've said so far that wasn't paired with a joke, jest, or tease.
Spock responds only with a curtious yet stiff nod. And with arms tucked behind his back he leaves with a whoosh of the door behind him.
You breathe easy now that he's gone. It's not that he intimidates you. Well... At least not in a bad way- You just don't know how to behave around him. He makes you forget how to act. Around him you feel like a young dumb girl again.
'Snap out of it, we got a job to do!' You think with a sigh and check your messages. You must prepare for the impromptu away mission.
~•°~•°~•°~•°~•°~•°~•°~•°~•°~•°~•°~•°~•°~•°~•
"How much longer are we going to be scanning this area?" You ask Spock. You guys had been walking around and scanning for hours now. And you were quickly losing patience. How many unique plants could possibly be on this ice chunk of a planet?
"As I said two times previously only a moment longer." Spock sighs out continuing to scan the evergreen plant in front of him. He had long given up on acting like your whining was anything but annoying.
"Pphff it's too cold! Please hurry up before I lose my limbs to frostbite." You plead to him while shivering.
"I assure you that you still have at least 2.34 hours until serious frostbite would be a concern. As well as the fact complaining will not change that you are cold." Spock barely spares you a glance as he continues moving from plant to plant and scanning some rocks.
"Mr. Spockk I know you are a hotty, but how are you not even the least bit cold right now? The temperature on this planet is ridiculous!" You whine arms crossed like a petulant child.
"I never said I was not cold. I simply have control of my body and can handle it. It is an issue of the mind over matter." Spock calmy states and stands brushing the snow off his pants.
"Now come on, let us begin to our rendezvous point." Spock orders you already walking ahead.
"Hey wait up! Not everybody has pretty long legs like you do you know!" You scurry to catch up to him and luckily he is kind enough to slow his gait for you.
"My legs are not long they are proportional to my body." He says ears flush a twinge of green.
After that comment a silence falls between you two. Only the sound of crunching snow and howling wind can be heard. Said wind is whats responsible for the low visability. You have to be careful to watch your step. Because it's nearly impossible to see much further than a couple feet ahead of you.
'This is going to be a long trek back,' you think with a sigh.
~•°~•°~•°~•°~•°~•°~•°~•°~•~°~•°~•°~•°~•°~•°~
You finally reach the point where snow meets ice and sigh out a puff of air. Definitely not looking forward to crossing the frozen sea again. Just looking at it gives you the creeps. Despite the fact the ice is thick you can still see the murky black nothingness of the waters below. There's no telling what lurks beneath either.
"Uh Mr. Spock is there any life on this planet we should be worried about?" You anxiously inquire.
Spock pauses for a moment then responds carefully, "There is a possibility of dangerous alien life yes. I will not tell you otherwise. Information on this planet is rather limited at this moment."
"Oh... Okay. " You can't help but feel a wave of dread flow over you as you continue to look at the murky sea below you. You can't wait for this trek to end.
Spock glances over his shoulder at you. You look... uncomfortable. For some reason this bothers him. "We are almost to extraction. Also allow me to remind you we are equipped with phasers. "
"Oh trust me I have not forgotten about my phaser..." You mutter tracing the phaser on your hip attempting to soothe your increasing anxiety. Spock only nods in response not pushing the matter.
~•°~•°~•°~•°~•°~•°~•°~•°~•~°~•°~•°~•°~•°~•°~
Spock in a daze scrambles for his phaser. Fumbling with the settings he changes it from stun to kill. Not sparing a moment he locks on to the beast in a burning rage and continuously pulls the trigger. Giving it no chance of getting up. The beams hit the beast in rapid succession and it collapses in a heap dead.
You and Spock continue the long walk in silence quickly nearing your extraction point. Despite this your anxiety hasn't eased. In fact your heart is now racing. Your eyes pry away from the icy ground to glance around trying to clam down. But what you see scares you shitless.
"Spock! Look out!" A massive mangy beast akin to apolar bear with a set of knarly horns charges towards Spock. There's no time to grasp for your phaser. So you quickly push Spock out of the way. The beast collides with you instead ramming into you with the might of a freight train. It knocks the breath out of you. Narrowly misses lodging deep into your abdomen only slicing your sides. Your body is thrown across the ice and the beast immediately charges at you to continue the assault.
Urgently he speaks, "Bones! There has been an accident. My partner has been hurt and is under the ice we will need immediate medical attention." Spock commands urgently.
All Spock can think about is you.
"Ensign? Ensign?!" Spock looks around frantically. A chill runs down his spine once he sees a hole in the ice. He rushes to the hole and hits his com badge.
"What did you say!? Shes hurt? What do you mean under the ice? Whats going on Spock, what happened?! You green blooded hobgoblin expl-" Spock cuts off his com. He rips off his jacket and dives in the water hoping to find you before it is too late.
He swims down quickly and begins feeling around blindly for you. He searches frantically until his lungs begin to burn begging for air. Only then is when he finally latches on to an arm. Without a second to spare he drags you to the surface with him and heaves you guys back onto the ice.
"Ensign? Can you hear me? Stay with me!" Spock begs brushing your hair out from in front of your face. He lays his head against your chest to hear for a heartbeat. He listens closely for any sign of life. Spock begins to feel sick to his stomach when cannot find any and begins to panic.
"I implore you to please breathe. Please..." He begins cpr while his thoughts race. He cannot simply let you die like this. He cannot.
"Please do not do this. I do not give you permission to die. You should have never been so reckless as to do this! You are human and fragile. It was stupid! I could have taken the damage much easier-" he cuts himself off by giving you mouth to mouth resuscitation.
Not long after he started to try and breathe life into you do you jolt up and twist to the side to spew out dark water. The slightly acid water burns and hurts about as much as it did when you first gulped it in.
Spock let's out a chocked gasp of relief and worry. He moves closer and rubs your back through all of your heaving while speaking gently to you. You can only make out bit and pieces of what he says. Mummurs of reassurance and comfort. And whether it's more for you or him is debatable.
When you are done gagging up water you cough out to him, "if you wwantedd tto kiss mme you coulve jus saidd so." Shivering violently you let out a breathless laugh you say, "II'd ddrown more offten if I knew II'd gget a kiss ffrom yyou. Mmakes it worthh iit."
Spock allows a small laugh of suprise to slip from his lips as he wraps you in his discarded jacket. He begins to massage feeling back into your frozen hands. "No, please refrain from doing such a reckless thing. I will kiss you as much as you wish without such an action." He begins to apply pressure to your wound with his unoccupied hand. You wouldn't die today and he'd still have to listen to your teasing and deal with your flirting. But he's grateful and he would have it no other way.
A/n: hope you enjoyed the fic! If you have any suggestions or criticism feel free to leave a comment. I'm very much a noob to fanfic writing especially on tumblr. Thanks for reading!

Slow and Steady [C. Chapel]
Tumblr media
Pairing: Christine x female reader
Word count: ~1k
Summary: Y/N and Christine are best friends. After spending the day together, Y/N admits to not only being bisexual but having feelings for Christine, too.
Notes: Requested by an anon. This is my first time writing for Christine and my first full Trek fic in a while, so I apologize at its quality. Still accepting queer prompts for Pride month!
Tag list: @agent-catfish-kenobi @space-helen @plaguedoctorsnake @shadyfirecollector
Yours and Christine’s laughs bounce of the walls of the corridor as you make your way through the ship.
“I can’t believe you almost let me buy that,” you say between laughs.
Christine grins at you. “I didn’t know what it was! If I had realized sooner I would have stopped you before the shopkeeper came over.”
You roll your eyes, but smile. While the Enterprise is docked at a space station for a few meetings, most of the crew has been granted some R&R time, either on the station or on the ship. You and Christine decided to have a friend date on the station and see what it had to offer. You went to a few restaurants and a bar, visited a Vulcan meditation garden, visited an old fashioned movie theatre, and walked around the shopping level where you almost bought a Klingon sex toy.
In your defense, the shop had been called Treasures of the Galaxy and boasted their collection of items from all different worlds. What you thought was a pretty vase had been sometime else entirely. Luckily no one other than Christine had witnessed that, so at least you wouldn’t be teased about it by anyone else.
“I would have bought it for you if I’d known you were so into that kind of thing,” she muses teasingly.
You shove her shoulder and scoff. “You’re terrible.”
“I know.” She flashes you a grin and you can’t help but smile.
When you reach your quarters, you tilt your head to the side. “Want to come in? It’s not too late.”
Christine smiles cheekily. “Why, Y/N, if I had known I would be invited over I would have at least paid for dinner.”
You smirk and open the door. “You can buy next time.”
“So my lack of date etiquette hasn’t put you off?” she asks as she walks backwards into your quarters.
You laugh, though you wish you were both being serious. “Not in the slightest.”
“Good. Because I need someone to explore places with me.” She walks to your couch and gestures for you to sit with her. “Spock will only do so much with me.”
You give her a look as you sit next to her. “I thought you were over that.”
“What? Over Spock?” She smiles and leans her elbow against the back of the couch, propping her cheek against her closed fist. “I am. Don’t get me wrong, he’s amazing to look at, and I like spending time with him, but that silly little crush is long gone.”
“Oh.” You hope she can’t see the relief on your features.
“But speaking of crushes,” she drawls, shifting to pull her knees up. “That guy at the bar was totally flirting with you.”
“What?” You scoff.
Christine raises an eyebrow and smiles. “He was cute. You should have asked him out.”
You shook your head and looked away. “I didn’t really notice.”
“Really?” She laughs quietly.
“I was distracted,” you reply simply and you lean your foot out to nudge her ankle.
“Oh come on, I’m not that distracting,” she defends with another laugh.
You shrug and smile at her softly. “You can be.”
Christine rolls her eyes playfully. “Well, I’m sorry for cockblocking you, then.”
You laugh at her choice of words. “You didn’t. I Kind of have my eye on someone else, anyway.”
Christine leans forward, eager to learn more. “Oh? What’s his name?”
You shift and clear your throat. Christine doesn’t know that you’re bi. She’s only ever heard about your ex—a guy you dated at the academy—and your attraction to women never really came up. You didn’t want your coming out to her being you admitting your feelings for her, but… The way she looks at you, the way she touches you every chance she gets, the way she laughs with you… It gives you hope that maybe the feelings are mutual.
“Um. Her name,” you mumble.
“Oh,” Christine says, then shrugs a little and smiles. “Okay, what’s her name?”
You try to hide a grin. Of course, you knew she’d react fine. She herself isn’t straight, and you knew it wouldn’t really be a big thing. But sharing this part of yourself with her, no matter how she feels about you, feels freeing and comforting.
“Um,” you repeat. “Her name is Christine.”
You see her eyebrows furrow and her lips part slightly.
Your heart hammers against your ribs, and you try your best to ignore it as you move closer. “It’s you. I uh. Maybe kind of have a crush on you? And I know you’re not—not really big on commitment and relationships stress you out and we don’t have to do anything or—or be anything but um—I thought you should know—”
Christine leans forward and cups your cheek with her warm, soft hand. “Y/N,” she says softly.
Your tongue darts out between your lips and you meet her gaze. You see a tenderness in her eyes that makes your stomach flip.
“Y/N,” she repeats, quieter this time, barely a whisper. Then she closes the gap between the two of you and kisses you. You involuntarily sigh through your nose and lean closer. The kiss is short, only lasting a few moments, but you’re both smiling stupidly when it ends.
“Wow,” you whisper, and Christine giggles.
“You’re adorable,” she says, leaning up to feather a kiss to your forehead.
Blushing you smile. “So… Can we consider today our first official date?”
Christine smiles, too, but she leans back a little bit. “I… I want to. But… You said it yourself, relationships stress me out.” When your smile falls, she quickly continues, “I want to try it though! With you, I… you make me feel like I could do it. But I just. Can we go slow?”
You wrap your arms around her neck loosely and nod. “Of course. We can go at whatever pace makes you most comfortable. I get it, I really do. I’m not going anywhere.”
Christine visibly relaxes and she sighs. “You’re amazing, you know that?”
“I try,” you reply with a smile.
Laughing quietly, Christine leans closer and kisses you again and this time, it lasts longer than just a few moments.

Ad Astra News
June 2023 Review Hunt
So, in honor of the fact we have a shiny new archive and some new folks hanging around to share their talent and skill with us, I’ve decided to run a Review Hunt!  The basic premise being: You write reviews/comments on other peoples’ stories/art/vids, get points and win a prize.  The fan creator gets some very much wanted feedback.  Legitimately everyone wins in this scenario.
Because the new archive really is brand new, new reviews/comments on both it and the original eFiction version of Ad Astra will count.  If you need an account on the old Ad Astra, then DM me on Dis/c/ord or Tumblr (under @sl-walker) because the only way to get one is from the admin panel thanks to spam, and if you get an SQL error from the site, then access it via VPN (which is one of the reasons we’re moving over to otw-archive as software) from a different address.  Singapore works for me, for some reason.
Anyway, here are the relevant links:
Ad Astra (otw-archive) - Until hopefully Monday, remember to put beta. before adastrafanfic.com to use any e-mail links from the archive.  And hopefully the proxy notice will be gone by then, too. Ad Astra (eFiction) - This site will go static-only on September 1st, but if you need/want an account before then for either reviews or posting for posterity, DM me!

You Might Prefer Me: Part 1
Read on AO3
Pairing: Una Chin-Riley x fem reader
Rating: Explicit after the redirect to AO3
Word Count: 2.7k
Note: Written at the request of a friend.
Summary: Una gets an unexpected offer from an onboard friend, a friend for which she has secretly longed. In deep space traditional mores don't always make sense.
Excerpt: Una rubs the back of her neck as she walks over to the door of her quarters. She is tired and … And what, she asks herself. Stressed, a bit, after all the Captain did insist on going with the landing party. Given how danger often rushes towards Christopher Pike, drawn like a magnet, concern is not out of bounds. Lonely, yes. Bored, yes. In a funk as my grandmother use to say.
Her mood brightens after the door swishes open. Standing there with a bottle of tequila in one hand and a container of salt and bag of limes in another is her closest friend on board, after the Captain that is. “Chris decided to spend the night on the surface with the landing party.” You hold up the liquor. “How about a drink? After this past week, I could use, no, I need a few shots.”
“Oh, yes please,” Una responds enthusiastically. You always wear civvies when off duty. Tonight’s outfit is soft leggings that hug your shapely legs.
And other interesting areas, Una thinks as she admires the shoulder bared and the view presented by the gap when the stretched-out neck of the sweater you are wearing slips down as you place the supplies on the coffee table.

BEING PROTECTIVE ON AN AWAY MISSION
Tumblr media
how protective the snw crew gets over you on away missions
CW: injured reader, gn! reader
CAST: chris pike, una chin-riley, spock, la'an, erica ortegas, nyota uhura, christine chapel
Tumblr media
CHRIS - showing favoritism has always been something of a challenge for chris. he tends to care too much, get over-protective, go the extra mile for his crew. he especially tries not to let his protective instincts take over when you’re involved - every member of his crew should be treated the same. though, chris has always carried his heart on his sleeve, and his constant surveillance is noticed by anybody who’s paying attention. he lowkey always tries to know where you are, what you’re doing, and who you’re with so if the worst case scenario happens, chris will have a plan. he really tries not to baby you, but…well, playing favorites goes out the window when it comes to your safety..
UNA - 9 times out of 10, she’s assigning you to her team, if she can help it. partnering up with you, and if she can’t, partnering you with somebody she trusts. checks in with you semi-frequently and doesn’t even try to disguise it as a sit-rep. nah, una doesn’t try to hide her intentions. she keeps things professional, and doesn’t let her feelings interfere with the mission (mostly) but she sees no reason to give you the cold shoulder and distract herself with worrying about you. she knows how quickly things can go sideways, and una is nothing if not effective - if you’re around her, she can get to you. it’s as simple as that.
SPOCK - vulcans don’t feel protective - that’s the line spock would give you. no, no, it’s in his and the crew’s best interest that you get back to enterprise as unharmed as possible. knowing spock, he has backup plans for his backup plans. if a hostile native population finds the away team or the weather takes a freak turn, spock takes it upon himself to find a way out of the situation. and it’s not that he doesn’t think you can do it - spock truly respects your abilities. but this way, if something goes wrong, it will be on him. any failure to keep you safe would be his fault, and he alone will be the one to atone. of course, you tell him he wouldn’t need to atone for anything, but vulcans can be pretty stubborn.
LA'AN - simultaneously the one who worries the most and shows it the least. but obviously, with everyone she’s lost, it makes sense that la’an goes the furthest mile when it comes to keeping you safe. somebody she holds so precious and dear, it would be her own damn fault if she allowed you to get hurt on some routine assignment. of course, la’an shoulders all of the responsibility of keeping you safe. she believes she’s the most capable in doing so, but la’an would definitely get caught up in her emotions and have to let the others help. but at that point, she would be so afraid for your safety, a bit of wounded pride is a small price to pay for getting you back in one piece.
ERICA - tries to keep her cool, but ends up demanding for captain pike to beam her down to the planet herself. what would she do down there? who knows, but it beats being glued to the helm and hoping you don’t get yourself killed. she absolutely inserts herself into the discussion of retrieving you and your team, throwing everything onto the table and not once stepping away. and when the best plan involved piloting a shuttle down without detection, pike would have had to stun her to keep erica onboard. but as soon as she sees you, the fear is gone - replaced with a wide grin and a cheeky “hey, you had us all worried!”
NYOTA - at this point, with everything she’s been through, it doesn’t come as a surprise when nyota stops you in the corridor on your way to the transporter room. she asks you to stay behind, let someone else go on an away mission for once, you don’t have to go every single time. you sympathize, even smile, and tell nyota to ask the captain if he’d let her come along. that way, she can be as protective as she wants while you still get your work done. with a scoff and a roll of her eyes, she tells you she’s being serious. you could get really hurt out there, and what would she do if she lost you? though, it’s hard to continue arguing when you take her hand and kiss her cheek - she really outta trust you more not to get yourself killed.
CHRISTINE - she’d been handling the stress and fear just fine until spock finally through the opening of the cave, dragging you with him like a half-drunk klingon. even in the lowlight and the occasional flash of lightning to see by, christine saw the blood leaking from your face and head. maybe it means she’s a bad nurse, but seeing you in such a state really pulled her focus away from the rest of the injured away teams. she pulled one of her peers over, letting them take over just so christine can patch you up herself. honestly, she doesn’t really trust anybody else to do it. her hands shake, heart pounds, but when you eventually peek open your eyes and mumble her name, christine starts mentally preparing a nice, long speech for captain pike on why you should never leave enterprise ever again.

fanfic writer asks
I have some time and saw this at @logicheartsoul, so I’m gonna answer it :D
1. How many works do you have on AO3? 29
2. What’s your total AO3 word count? 62 334 👀
3. How many fandoms have you written for and what are they? on AO3 6 - Star Trek (combining tos, snw, disco), Samurai Warriors, Saiyuki, Kuroko no basuke, Attack on Titan, MCU... outside of AO3 a long time ago also HP, SG-1 and Atlantis, Torchwood...
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
Beginning (252) KNB - Akashi/Kagami (it’s been there for like 8+ years LMAO) Caught in the Storm (167) - spones, wip Tea With a Vulcan (154) - spones The Touch of You (124) spones At His Bedside  (121) spones
5. What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending? I don’t really do angsty endings? idk lol
6. What’s the fic you’ve written with the happiest ending? considering that even though I write shippy fics, the characters aren’t really together? like.. idk the fics are angsty-ish but the endings aren’t (imho), but they’re also not happy end-ish??? lol (I just don’t remember the fics okay LOL it’s all about the mood)
7. Do you write crossovers? If so, what is the craziest one you’ve written? not really, I’m not interested.
8. Do you write smut? If so, what kind? haven’t tried yet
9. Do you respond to comments, why or why not? yes! I like to let people know that I saw their comments, even when it’s s simple “lovely”
10. Have you ever received hate on a fic? no
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen? not that I know of
12. Have you ever had a fic translated? no
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before? no. When I was like 16, me and a friend tried to write an original story though. It was never finished lol At this point, I don’t think I could co-write a story with someone, because my headcanons and interpretations are usually way different from common fanon and I’m stubborn and need my characters behave in a certain way lol
14. What’s your all-time favorite ship? Jack O’Neill and Samantha Carter, but I don’t write fics nor do I read them.
15. What’s a WIP that you want to finish but don’t think you ever will? that I never will? Like if I want to finish something, I most likely will. It’s the stuff I already put aside that I don’t want to write anymore that won’t be finished... on the other hand, who knows when Caught in the Storm will be finished...
16. What are your writing strengths? I don’t know :D People usually like my characterization...
17. What are your writing weaknesses? questioning myself, not knowing how to write a plotty fic, using canon as a crutch, English grammar LMAO
18. What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic? ok, so, if the character knows how to speak a different language than the one the fic is written in, I don’t have a problem with a word or two or even a sentence being inserted. However, writing paragraphs of dialogue in another language is a hard nope. Also when a POV character hears someone speak in a foreign language they don’t understand, I don’t want to see the dialogue written because the character literally does not know what is said, so unless it’s omniscient POV (which fics usually aren’t), then the reader shouldn’t know either.
19. What was the first fandom you wrote for? Harry Potter
20. What’s your favorite fic you’ve written? For This Space Would Be Hollow If You Were Gone

Done All Wrong
Spock x FemReader
Tumblr media
An: uh...this didn't quite go as expected so I'm sorry lol. By time noticed it was off subject it was too late soooo I deciced to go ahead and finish it. But don't worry I'm working on a fic more on subject to what you requested! 😭
Request: Spock x Reader where reader works under Spock and is terrified/attracted to him and thinks he hates her bc of his blunt Vulcan behavior? But in the end discovers he secretly is attracted to her and feels protective of her.
Warnings: embarrassing situations, anxiety, and some adult language.
Summary: You have a certain pointy earred alien on your mind for multiple reasons. You should hate him like he hates you but you can't bring yourself to. Much to your dismay... Embarrassing moments ensue.
You sigh staring at the specimen in front of you. A boring plain leafed plant from one of the recent expeditions. Ordinary nothing special. Quite lackluster and disappointing. Not someone anybody would care for. Someone? Gosh you need a break, this is getting sad. Projecting your angst on to a poor little plant is defiantly a new low. You shake your head and sigh running a hand over your face. A few of your fellow science officers send concerned glances your way. You flush slightly embarrassed.
'I need to get back to work,' you think. You know that you can't keep pushing of your work because of your silly angst. Especially since Sp- he would notice. 'Don't need to give him a reason to nag me.' Well not like you'd have to give him one. Lately it seems all he can do is nag and belittle you. Critiquing each and every little thing that you do. And yet you still lov-
"Ugggh, get it together lieutenant and stop acting like a child." You groan under your breath aggravated.
You pick up your pad and look at the plant to continue your observations. Aroma? Earthy and warm. Size? 11.9 inches. Form? Stalky lean. Leaf shape? Spatulate. Flower color? You lean forward, silky black blossom. Your heart races but you take a deep breath and continue. Leaf color? A lovely shade of green. It reminds you of the faint flush of-
"Is everything alright?"
"!" You let out a gasp and whip around. And of course wouldn't you know it, it's the last person you'd want to see. The object of your frustration and affection, Spock.
Spock's eyebrow twitches up. "My apologies I did not intend to frighten you."
"No! No it's fine. I just wasn't expecting you to just show up so sudden is all..." You put a hand over your racing heart. You can feel your cheeks burn with embarrassment. You wish you could just disappear right now. Maybe if you ju-
"Lieutenant, are you well? You have been distracted since you arrived for your shift. Aswell as your excessive sighing and your flush cheeks. Are you sick? If so I will have to implore you to go to sick bay." Spock admonishes you.
"I- I am not sick! I admit I'm distracted but...It's not- I'm not sick." You stammer. You can't believe he's calling you out like this, so loud and very public. It's humiliating. Your can't even look him in the eyes anymore. Because you're certain if you did he'd peer into your mind and learn as to why you been so distracted. You'd rather die then for him to find out. He's already cruel enough. Gosh, how could this get any worse?
And you to your horror you realize, quite easily is the answer. While avoiding his burning yet apathetic gaze you notice your coworkers glancing at the scene. Judging and knowingly. Some whispering, some pointing. They all know. They know why. They can tell. Your feelings. Oh my god...Oh god...Oh god-
Spock either doesn't notice your panic or doesn't care because he continues to chew you out. "Are you certain? Because it appears you are flushing even worse now. But if you are not sick would you care to explain your actions? Particularly talking to the plant you are supposed to be inspecting. That is certainly not an action a healthy and sane person would take. Perhaps you need to see a counselor or be reliev-"
"Just stop!" You snap you can't help it. You're so overwhelmed. Everything is too much. All the eyes looking at you. And him. Why does he have to hate you so much. Why... Oh god and now you've yelled at him! You've just made this into an even bigger scene. Thank god there's not too many people in the labs this late at night. But everyone will soon hear about this...oh god you're fucked.
You begin to tear up. You look into his eyes finally. His eyebrows are raised almost holding an expression of shock and maybe concern? Who are you kidding as if he could care. Even if he could care he'd definitely not care for you.
"Why? Why do you hate me so...so-" you're cut off by a small cry that escapes. You quickly throw a hand over your mouth to stop any more from escaping. Tears begin to run down your face. You panic, you need to get out as soon as possible and spare yourself any further embarrassment. You dash out of the labs. Leaving behind a shocked and confused Spock.
°•~°•~°•~°•~°•~°•~°•~°•~°••~°•~°•~°•~°•~°•~°
"I simply do not understand why she was upest."
"You don't understand why she was upset? You don't- My god how could someone so smart be so stupid!" Leonard McCoy exclaims exasperated.
"You think that I am smar-"
"That is not the point you pointy eared hobgoblin! Goodness gracious...look." McCoy sighs and leans forward in his seat giving Spock a tired glare.
"You insulted and embarrassed the poor girl in front of all her lab rat coworkers. Hell if I was her I would have done a whole lot more to you then shout and cry. I'd give ya what for." McCoy states plainly punching his palm with his clenched fist.
"I see...it was not my intention to embarrass her nor do I hate her."
"You don't?" McCoy looks at him in disbelief.
"What? Of course I do not hate her nor harbor any ill intentions towards her."
"Goodness Spock... you sure have a way of showing it. Look, I talk to her. We're close and let me tell ya you've been giving her some hell. Ya leave her as ill as a hornet. If you don't hate her then why do ya insist on angering and embarrassing that poor little lady?"
"I- I was unaware I was angering or embarrassing her." Spock says quietly eyebrows furrowed and slightly lowered. Truly he would never wish to upset you. He just wants the best for you and to help you be the best you can be.
"My god...you like her don't you? Heh... Spock you're in deep." McCoy laughs at Spock's expense.
"Please do not tease me. What should I do?"
"Your asking ME for advice? I never thought I'd see the day. My my my you do have it bad."
Spock gets up to leave but is stopped my McCoy's hand that pushes him back into his seat. "Yer not goin anywhere. Sit right there I'm gonna grab some drinks. We're gonna need it."
•~°•~°•~°•~°•~°•~°•~°•~•~°•~°•~°•~°•~°•~°•~°
"You've got five minutes to explain." You snap at him while leaning in your doorway.
Spock nods, " I am deeply sorry. It was not my intention to anger you or to embarrass you. Nor do I hate you, it is quite the opposite. I- I deeply enjoy your company and I find you fascinating. You make me feel although I do not know how to show it. But I will endeavor to do better if you could forgive me? And if you return my feelings?"
You stand in shock. There is no way this is really happening. "Pinch me."
"No, why would I wish to harm you? Did I not explain well enough I do not wish any form of harm or discomfort to you?" Spock says looking offended and confused.
"Nonono sorry, its just an expression. I just can't believe this is real. I must be dreaming."
"Dreaming?"
"Yes, because there is no way that this is real. That you're basically confessed to liking me and asking me out! No, its too crazy..."
"You are not dreaming. And yes I do 'like you'. I also would not mind if you would allow me to court you."
"I-I really?"
"Indeed." Spock looks at you. Wondering if he's made a mistake. Perhaps you don't feel the same? Or he's hurt you too much. Or any other reason.
"Yes! I mean, yes. I would like that very much. I've liked you for awhile now. Um but just please try not to be so mean?" You say with a bright beaming smile.
"Of course." Spock nods seriously.
"Can I please hug you? I'm just so happy!"
Spock nods and stoops down to wrap you in a gentle hug. You wrap yourself up in his lanky form. Maybe the plant is loveable after all.

Note: Thank you @maydayfigment for helping inspire me to write this, and helping me hash some of it out! <3
Words: ~4.5k
Tumblr media
As you felt yourself waking up, you knew the dream was fading away. Grasping at every memory as it faded, you repeated what you saw. "Mountains, trees, red, voice."
Your eyes opened, as those words repeated through your head. The dreams you had of your soulmates always faded so fast, and as hard as you try you can never remember them in detail. Nothing but his voice. That deep, almost melodic baritone voice.
Turning, you see you woke up twenty minutes before your alarm. Knowing it wasn't worth it to try and go back to sleep, you sat up, hanging your legs over the side of the bed. You tried again to think back on your dream. It was calm, it was always calm, so much less confusing than your dreams often were.
You repeated the words, "Mountains, trees, red, voice." You shook your head with a soft laugh. "Yeah, that helps a lot."
Dream sharing with your soulmate always started once you reached maturity. For the years that you had been having yours, you tried to remember them as best you could. Repeating words to yourself that would maybe help you remember them, but they never made enough sense to help you find out who your soulmate might be.
As much as you hated it, it was well known, that the dreams were not meant to help you find out who your soulmate was and track them down, but just to connect you to them. You would meet when you were meant too.
For everyone who starts to share the dreams of their soulmates, they each have something they can remember from these dreams that would give them that recognizable 'oh' moment when they first meet their soulmate. Usually, they remember the same detail about each other.
For some, it's visual details, like their soulmates eyes, a specific birthmark, or a scar. Or audible, like the sound of their voice, or singing. It ranges for every type of being there is, always giving you some way of knowing them personally, even if you've never met.
For you, your detail, was the sound of your soulmates voice. And every time you heard it, it sent shivers down your spine. It was deep, deeper than most you've heard, which for you, was lucky. It would be easy to recognize. Though, that time had yet to come.
Deciding that no matter how long you tried to think back on the dream, you wouldn't remember it, you stood and made your way to the shower. Taking a moment to look yourself over in the mirror, you let out a deep breath as your nerves began to settle in your stomach. Today was your first day on the USS Enterprise. The first day of a new adventure.
---------
Spock walked briskly down the corridor of the Starbase, his eyes straight ahead. The quick pit-stop at the Starbase to drop off the recent batch of Ensigns, and to pick up some more, as well as some higher ranked new crew-members, was coming to an end. His mind sorted through the tasks he had done, and the few left he had to complete before Enterprise was to set out.
Wading his way through a small crowd of people, Spock paid no mind to them. Suddenly, he picked up momentarily, on a familiar voice. As his steps slowed, it took him a moment to place to voice. He did not hear what was said, but he knew that voice.
Feeling his chest tighten as realization struck him, he quickly turned back, seeing that the small crowd of people had began to break apart. Walking back, he looked down the halls, listening for that voice again. Just one word wold be enough. Even as people walked past, giving him looks of confusion, he remained still, waiting.
When everyone that had been nearby was gone, Spock felt his stomach sink. You were here. You were right here. If he had actually looked at the people that were around him, if he had paid more attention instead of being so lost in his own thoughts, he may have seen you. If only you had spoken just a bit longer.
'Where do I go from here?'
Your voice repeated in his mind. Of all the dreams of yours he has shared, that was one sentence that always stuck in his mind. The only thing you've said, that he was able to remember in specific detail.
He can't remember the context of the dream, or who you were speaking too. Just that your voice was confused, afraid. Maybe that was why he was able to remember it. He woke up feeling as though you needed help. But that was nearly two years ago.
And now, you were here. Close, yet so far. Were you a member of Starfleet, or just a visitor to the Starbase?
"Mr. Spock, how are things coming?"
Spock was broken from his thoughts as he heard Pikes voice. Tapping his comm, he hesitated for a moment. "I only have one more task to complete Captain."
"Make it fast if you can."
"Yes Sir."
Spock continued to stare down the corridor. Would he hear you again before he had to leave the base? Or would he have to leave, knowing the fact that he had walked right past you, and missed the chance to find you? Knowing it could be years before he gets the chance again?
Turning, he began to continue on his way. His chest heavy with emotion he was finding hard to supress.
---------
Feeling a sense of melancholy in your chest after having said goodbye to all your friends around the base, you walked down the large hall of the Starbase.
When you rounded a corner, and spotted Captain Pike, you felt your stomach twist as you took a deep breath. Spotting you, he smiled. You stopped and placed your hands behind his back. "Lieutenant Y/n L/n, reporting for duty Captain."
He smiled and reached out his hand for you to shake. "Pleased to meet you Lieutenant, I've heard great things."
Taking his hand and shaking it you smiled, "I've heard the same about you, Sir."
Gesturing towards the transport room he smiled. "My number one is waiting on board, she'll show you around."
"Thank you Sir."
Nodding, he looked past you and his brow rose. Giving you one last look, he tapped your shoulder in encouragement before walking past. As you made your way towards the transport room, you looked back, seeing him approaching a young Vulcan that looked vaguely familiar.
"Mr. Spock, everything good to go?"
You rose your brow as you made your way through the doors of the transport room. 'So that was Spock huh? He's much more attractive than I expected.'
You had heard of the half-human half-Vulcan at the academy, as well as on the last ship you had been stationed on. Maybe you had seen him around and not realized it was him at the time. You wondered what he was like, and if what you had heard was accurate.
---------
As Spock made his way onto the bridge, his eyes landed on an unfamiliar face standing with Una beside the Captain's chair. A new Ensign? His eyes landed on the badge on your uniform, no, a Lieutenant, one of the newer additions to the crew.
"Alright, let's get a move on." Pike said as he nodded his head to Erica. Looking over at Spock he gestured his hands "Spock, Lieutenant L/n, Lieutenant L/n, Lieutenant Commander Spock."
Yours and Spock's eyes locked and neither of you could ignore the odd recognition that seemed to hit you. Maybe you had met at the academy.
Bowing your head in greeting, Spock returned the gesture before he spun around to face his station. You nodded once at Pike and Una as a goodbye before you turned and made your way to the lift to start your first assignment on board.
As he heard the lift doors closing, Spock's eyes drifted towards them. He was trying to place you in his memories, as he was sure he had met your before. L/n. The name did seem somewhat familiar as well. Perhaps you had attended the academy together.
Looking back at his station, he quickly became distracted by his work, as you disappeared from his mind. Occasionally, unknowing to him, you did pop back into his mind. But he had no idea it was you, he was thinking of.
By the end of the day, when Spock laid down to sleep. He hoped, that he would once again share one of his soulmates dreams.
He had on occasion, tried to complete a form of mind-connection he had heard some Vulcans could succeed in doing with their soulmate through their shared dreams. But this always failed, which he had decided a long time ago, meant that you were most likely not a Vulcan. That, paired with your dreams often being confusing, and fast paced, the opposite of his helped him to determine this.
For a time, he was concerned and even disappointed that you were not a Vulcan. But over time, as he changed, and had begun to accept his more human side, the thought was much less concerning. You were his soulmate after all, it did not matter what or who you were.
Lying in his bed, he stared up at the ceiling, once again thinking about how he had missed you at the Starbase. Closing his eyes, he waited patiently as he began to drift to sleep. Hoping he would once again hear your voice.
--
As Spocks eyes fluttered open as his alarm woke him up. He acknowledged that your dream had been more stressful than normal. Though he was already forgetting what happened, he could feel the anxious energy still pulsing through him.
Sitting up, he tried to think back on what had happened. Occasionally he would recall a small detail, but none that ever made much sense. This time, he had the oddest recollection, that your dream had occurred in space, possible even a Starship. As he closed his eyes, trying to force the dream to come forward in his memory, he felt it slip away instead.
Letting out a deep breath, he began to get ready, aware that the recent incident with hearing his soulmates voice was effecting his ability to suppress his emotions. They pressed heavily in his mind, trying to force their way out.
He attempted to distract himself with thoughts of his duties and the most recent mission the Enterprise would be taking on. As he stood at the back of the lift with a couple crew members, he had begun to succeed in distracting his thoughts.
But when the lift doors opened and the two crew-members filed out, his ears caught on that same, familiar voice in the nearby corridor. As the doors shut, Spock felt a jolt of panic rush through him as he grabbed the handle. "Deck C", his voice came out rushed and loud.
The lift stopped before returning to the floor it had just been on. As the door slid open, Spock quickly stepped out, looking around rapidly. He felt his stomach clench as he once again saw no one around.
Walking down the corridor, he listened, but heard no voices. Turning, he walked the other way and did the same. Still hearing no one. Had he just imagined it? Had his thoughts of you come forward so suddenly he thought they were real?
Or perhaps it was just someone that sounded similar? Taking a moment to acknowledge the possibility that you were on the Enterprise, he felt his heart fluttering in an unfamiliar manner.
There were plenty of crew-members he had never met in person, never even spoken too. Could you have been here for a long time and he never knew? There were also multiple new crew-members and ensigns, could you be one of them? Or, had he just been mistaken?
Spock remained in the corridor for much longer than he meant too, longer then he should. But he could not get over the fact that you might be here, on the ship.
-----------
Standing in the lift, you felt a bit nervous as you made your way to the bridge. You had only been on the Enterprise for a few days now, but were beginning to acclimate nicely.
You had just finished your first research assignment aboard the Enterprise, and was told to take it directly to Mr Spock, as he was overseeing the primary research mission.
This would be the first time you would ever actually interact with him, and you couldn't help but feel nervous. What if he found numerous errors in your report, or did not like the way you completed your research? What if you missed something obvious?
As the lift door slid open, you took a deep breath and stepped onto the bridge. Looking over towards Spock's station, you felt an odd mix of relief and disappointment when you saw he was not there.
"Y/n, need something?"
Turning to the voice of the Captain, you stood a little straighter. "My apologies Captain. I came to give my report to Spock, I did not realize he was no longer here."
"Oh, you just missed him." Una said as she stood and walked over to you. "I'll take it."
"Are you sure?"
"Of course." She smiled politely. "I've been hearing quite a lot about this research project and I wanna see how it's going."
"Always curious to know everything, huh?" The Captain commented with a smile, to which Una replied with a silent raised brow in his direction.
Giving it to her, you smiled again "I appreciate it Commander."
"How are you liking it on the Enterprise so far Y/n?" The Captain asked.
"Very well Captain, thank you. It's better than some said it would be."
He smiled "Good, I'm glad."
As he turned back towards the front of the bridge, you gave one last look of appreciation to Una, and made your way back to the lift. You weren't sure what you felt more of, relief that you would not directly see Spock's reaction to your report, or disappointment of having not spoken to him.
'I wonder what his voice sounds like?' You thought to yourself, realizing you did not recall ever hearing him speak.
A quick thought of him being your soulmate passed through your mind, causing your ears to burn a bit.
'That's ridiculous.' You thought, though you could not get rid of the thought easily.
---
Upon walking back into the bridge, Spock stopped as Una approached him, handing him a padd "You missed Lieutenant L/n."
Taking the padd, he looked down to see the report for the research you had been assigned.
"It's good." Una commented before she turned and returned to her station.
Sitting down, Spock read quickly over the data you had gathered. Raising one brow as he read, he was impressed at how much attention to detail you took, especially having finished the report so quickly.
The tone and language of your report seemed familiar to him, adding to his idea that the two of you must have met before. He was often able to place people in his memory easily, so why was it so hard to place you?
As he read over your report one more time, he found himself reading the words with the voice of his soulmate. Upon realizing this, he felt his heart begin to race a bit faster. He had never done that before. So why was he now?
-----------
As Spock stood beside the Captain in the lift, he stared straight ahead, unaware that the Captain had been speaking to him.
"Spock!" The Captain said a bit louder, causing Spock to suddenly look over at him with a look of surprise.
Pike let out a soft laugh "Whats got you so distracted?"
Spock remained silent for a moment, as he considered telling Pike what had happened in the last week.
"I must admit Captain, that, something has happened recently that has caused my mind to become distracted."
"Yeah, no kidding." Pike chuckled. "So, what is it?"
"Do you recall that I told you, the detail of my soulmate's dreams that I remember is the sound of their voice?"
"Yes, I do."
"When we were on the Starbase, I heard the voice of my Soulmate, but did not see them. And I was unable to locate them."
Pike stared at Spock in mild shock. "Oh."
"That is not all."
Pike motioned his head for Spock to continue, clearly intrigued to hear more.
"Two days ago, as I was on the lift, when the doors opened, I heard their voice coming from Deck C. But by the time I made it into the corridor, there was no one there."
Pikes look of surprise grew as he smiled. "Your soulmate is on the Enterprise?"
"I believe so."
"Believe?"
"It is possible it was only someone who sounded familiar. Or, because the fact that I heard them on the Starbase has been heavy on my mind, it caused me to momentarily hallucinate the sound of their voice."
Pike stared at Spock with a bit of a dumbfounded expression. And as the lift doors opened, Pikes attention was taken away from Spock, and instead to the view outside the ship. "What the-" Looking back at Spock he lightly smacked his shoulder. "We'll talk about this later."
Spock's eyes followed the Captains gaze, seeing the reason he and the Captain had been called to the bridge in the first place. The Enterprise had been trapped in an unusual distortion field.
Shoving the thoughts of you to the back of his mind, Spock made his way to his station.
----------
Rushing towards the lift breathlessly you let out a deep sigh as you made your way up to the bridge.
While attempting to escape the distortion field, communications through the entire ship were effected, and no one could be contacted except through word of mouth. So, somehow, you ended up playing messenger.
As you exited the lift, still a bit breathless, you paused briefly as all eyes turned to land on you. You met Spock's briefly before you approached the Captains chair.
"Please tell me Hemmer's got something?"
You let out a breath and nodded your head. "Yes Sir, he has access to all of the ships controls, and believes that once we reset the system, communications will come back online."
As you began to speak, Spock felt his whole body freeze, as his breath hitched in his throat. He stared at you intensely, listening to your voice, knowing there was no mistaking it now. Now that undeniable feeling of knowing you made sense. He did know you, just not in the way he expected.
"Uhm, Spock, are you, okay?"
As Una spoke, your eyes moved to Spock, and you felt a sudden jolt of surprise as you saw him staring at you with an intense gaze.
Pike looked over at him as well, and as Spock's eyes met his briefly, and Pike noted a momentary panic in Spock's eyes, it clicked for him. Looking at you, as you were clearly confused and a bit alarmed, Pike repressed a grin.
Pike cleared his throat. "Spock, do me a favor and go down to Engineering with Hemmer and make sure everything goes to plan." Looking over at you he smiled. "Go with him."
You opened your mouth to question him, but instead nodded. "Yes Sir."
Turning to head to the lift you watched Spock stand up stiffly, his eyes still on you. Your heart was beating rapidly in your chest as you felt anxiety seep in. What was gong on?
As you entered the lift, Spock entered right behind you, before standing right next to you, your arms almost touching. You could tell his breathing was uneven, and you began to worry something was wrong with him.
When the lift doors shut, Una looked over at Pike with a look of confusion. Pike smiled at her. "I'll tell you later."
After a moment you realized Spock was not reaching for the lift handle to take you to Engineering. Guessing he must have been waiting for you to do it, you began to reach out, but stopped when Spock's hand shot out and grabbed it.
You stopped your own movement, and looked at his profile. You felt your breath hitch in your throat as he looked over at you, his gaze still intense.
"Uhm, is there a problem with Hemmers plan Sir? It seemed to take you by surprise. If you think there is a better way I believe he would be open to suggestions."
Spock stared at you in silent observation as you spoke. Hearing your voice, seeing you speak, not in a dream, but instead, right in front of him. He was surprised and a bit unsettled at how much it was effecting him.
You felt the tension in the lift build as Spock did not respond to you. You began to grow even more worried for him.
"Are you feeling alright-" "I believe we should talk."
As you heard him speak at the same time as you, you felt your breath catch in your throat. Your mind immedietely seemed to short-circuit. 'That was- His voice was- Was that why he was staring so intensely at me? Because he knew my voice too?'
As Spock saw the realization cross your face, he felt a bit subdued as he watched you. The tension was still obvious, but it felt different now.
You felt stunned, but recalled what it was you had originally been doing. "I- uhm, I should let Hemmer know that the he reset the system." You voice was soft, subdued, and your eyes never left Spock's.
Spock nodded softly. "Yes, that is a good idea. Engineering."
As the lift began to move, you felt unsure of what to say, or do. Looking back at Spock you swallowed nervously. "After I do, what- should we-?"
Spock looked at you softly, understanding that you were now as thrown off about this situation as he was. "Once you advise Hemmer that he can reset the systems, we could go to my quarters to speak in private."
'God, how did his voice sound so much deeper and soothing in person?'
You nodded your head. "Alright."
-------
As you stepped into Spock's quarters, you were surprised at how it looked. You wren't sure what you had been expecting, but it wasn't this.
"Would you like a drink?"
You spun around to meet his gaze and shook your head. "No, I am alright, thank you."
You stood in silence for a moment, before Spock stepped closer. "I must admit, though I am sure it was obvious, I was quite surprised when I heard your voice. I apologize for how I reacted, it was..unlike me."
You shook your head a bit. "It's alright, I understand, I was just as shocked when you spoke in the lift."
"I think I should tell you, that heard your voice on the Starbase, the day you transferred to the Enterprise. I did not see who you were, and was, disappointed, that I could not find you. As well as that, a few days ago, I heard your voice on Deck C, but again, was too late to see you. I was beginning to think my mind may have been playing tricks on me."
You were a bit surprised by this, and let out a soft laugh, Spock rose one brow in perplexity.
"I'm sorry, I just. That reminded me of something my mother once told me. That sometimes fate likes to tease you a bit before allowing you happiness."
Spock tilted his head a bit in thought. "That is quite fitting for this situation."
You smiled at him, and Spock felt his heart flutter a bit at the sight.
You spoke softly, "Can I ask you something?"
He nodded his head "Of course."
"When you first saw me, did you recognize me? Or did you have a moment where you swore you knew me from somewhere?"
Spock rose his brow and nodded. "Yes, I did."
You nodded with a smile. "So did I. I thought maybe we met at the academy, but, I don't think that was it."
"We may not be able to remember our shared dreams, but somewhere in our subconscious we do. It most likely triggered the familiarity, when we first saw each other."
"That makes sense." You nodded as you turned, looking around his room a bit more. "I always tried to remember parts of your dreams. But the main thing, was that they were always calm, subdued." You looked back at him, and saw a hint of a smile. "I suppose it makes sense now, why they are like that."
"And it makes sense as to why your dreams are much more...active than mine. I assumed years ago that you were not Vulcan based on the confusion and often delirium your dreams would leave me in once I woke."
You let out a soft laugh. "Yeah, I always have rather fast paced dreams. Especially if I am stressed. But that made yours much easier to appreciate. And, I've always found your voice quite soothing."
If Spock blushed, he would have in this moment. "I have always thought the same of yours as well."
Thinking back a moment, you asked cautiously. "Are you...disappointed that I am not a Vulcan?"
"I must admit, that the thought did trouble me at first, as I have often struggled with my human and Vulcan sides. But I can now, confidently, and truthfully say, that I am most certainly not disappointed."
You felt your neck and ears burning, as your heart palpitated.
He added on, almost carefully "What about you? I assume I am not what you expected."
"I think you might be more than I expected actually. And I do mean that as a compliment."
Another hint of a smile could be seen on his face, and you felt an odd sense of pride because of it.
Spock's eyes glanced at the clock in his room, and he cleared his throat lightly. "Perhaps you would like to accompany me to get some dinner? Then we can talk more about, our future."
'Our future'.
You felt a shiver run up yours pine. That's right. It hadn't truly hit you until this moment. He was your soulmate, connected by fate. From this moment you would no longer be waiting for him to be a part of your life. Instead, the rest of your lives would be connected, and spent together.
You smiled "I'd like that."
xx End xx
Sorry for the abrupt ending, but I wasn't sure if I should continue or not lol.

"So all of the information about this culture that we have been able to discover will be on your pads for easy access if needed. The clothes we have given you are similar to those from the opposite side of the planet. Your translators are well hidden and should not be able to be seen by them. Hopefully they assume you are just visiting and don't ask too many questions."
You nodded along as Commander Riley spoke. You tried to swallow down your anxieties and focus on the mission at hand. Figure out where the strong energy source you detected is coming from, find out if it is harming the natives, stop it if it is, don't expose them to the knowledge of alien life, leave, and move on.
"You ready Y/n?" A soft voice asked, breaking you from your thoughts.
Looking over, you saw Pike staring at you as he adjusted his bag. You nodded and gave him a small smile "Always."
He smiled in return "Good. Should be a walk in the park, remember, we're just visitors."
You nodded again in understanding as your eyes traced down the delicate red markings along his temple and neck, mimicking the same markings of the aliens. You wondered if you pulled them off as well as he seemed to.
The two of you managed to beam down without hassle, and made your way quickly towards the small village. A few people stopped and looked at you out of curiosity, but no one seemed alarmed.
Once you got closer to the center of town, you felt your anxieties rise when one of the native aliens approached you. You could tell by their more ornate dress that they were higher up on the societal scale.
"Greetings!" They said with a cheery voice that was translated directly to you "Welcome visitors to Machella!"
You and Pike smiled at him "Greetings!" Pike responded.
"I am pleased to welcome you, it is not often we get travelers through this area, but we are always pleased when we do!"
You felt the weight on your chest lighten as he politely greeted you. "I am Tixil, and this-" They motioned to another alien who approached their side "Is my spouse Henet"
"It is a pleasure to meet you, my name is Pike, and this is my spouse Y/n."
You felt your heart jump in your chest as you side-eyed Pike. Before hand you had decided to say you were simply just business partners hoping to expand your trade to new locations. Suddenly being his spouse threw you off.
The alien opened his arms "And how long do we expect you to stay with us?"
You finally spoke up "Only a short time, if there is a place of shelter we could stay that is. We would not want to impose on anyone."
"No, of course not! We have plenty of room for visitors!" Henet broke in cheerfully. "We will show you! Please, follow us!"
As you began to follow Tixil and Henet you stayed close to Pike.
"They seem like great people, I'm glad." He commented.
You nodded your head in agreement before you responded "What happened to us being business partners?"
You saw Pike side-eye you briefly as his lip quirked up a bit. "I thought it would be better in the moment. Form a sort of similarity between them, make them more comfortable. Besides, we can still be business partners."
It was clear in his voice that he was not being entirely truthful, which only made you wonder more about why he changed your cover. You felt a constant warmth in your ears, and butterflies in your stomach at the thought.
--- --- ---
As you looked around the bustling village streets, you smiled softly. You thought back on the last few days you had spent in Machella.
You and Pike were both relieved to find the energy source you had detected was simply a heating source for the city during the winter months, and caused no harm to the people on the planet.
Of course you assumed that meant it was time to leave and go back to the Enterprise. But when you were approached by Tixil and Henet, who insisted you stay a few days longer to attend a yearly festival, you were stunned when Pike enthusiastically agreed. He stated it was to learn more about their culture, but part of you felt that it was more than that
Over the last few days, as you and Pike had been pretending to be a married couple, things started to change. You slept in the same room, each night back to back, both of you pretending that you did not wake up in each others arms in the middle of the night. Neither of you knowing the other knew it too.
You spent most of your time within arms reach. You showed small signs of affection when others watched you. You even came up with a backstory about your relationship. During all of this, you were alarmed at how, comfortable, it felt, and at times it felt as though you were not acting at all.
Thinking back on the moment when you and Pike told a tale of your meeting and courting, you were startled when he took your hand in his, and pressed a kiss to the back of it. You were able to hide your surprise, but there was a moment when your eyes met, where you think something changed. A tension that had always been there between the two of you, starting to break.
"Y/n."
You broke from your thoughts as you looked to your left, seeing Pike watching you. As he approached you you smiled softly at him, noticing the immediate quickening of your heartbeat.
"You look great." He commented, and you flt your cheeks heat up.
Some locals had provided the two of you with colorful clothes to wear to the ceremony. They accented your figure well, and as Chris's eyes seemed to graze over you, you were glad you hid your bashfulness well.
"Thank you, as do you."
"The festival is starting." he held out his arm for you to take as he smiled at you "Shall we?"
You felt butterflies rampage through your body as you smiled and nodded as you looped your arms through his "We shall."
The festival was an array of flowers, foods, colorful garments, music, and dancing. Dances that didn't seem too different than some you knew.
Pike seemed to notice this as well as he leaned down at spoke softly "Would you like to dance with me?"
You felt your ears heat up as you met his eyes "Why do you know this one?" Your voice was a little teasing.
Looking back at the people dancing he shrugged his head a bit "Just looks like normal dancing to me, shouldn't be too hard."
Meeting your eyes again he smiled as he reached out his hand. Slowly taking it, he lead you closer to the others. As you began dancing, in what you hoped looked normal to everyone else, you felt you heart beating heavily in your chest.
His hands were wrapped around your waist, your hands placed on his shoulder and chest. You copied the swaying movements of the couples next to you.
As your eyes locked, you felt a similar feeling like you had a couple days prior. That tension beginning to break.
You felt him pull you a bit closer to him as his eyes stayed glued to yours. You could feel his heart beating underneath your hand, and you were sure it was just as rapid as yours.
After a moment of silence, he finally spoke. "I've enjoyed our time here."
You nodded "So have I."
"Uh, I lied to you before."
You frowned a bit "When?"
"The day we got here. When I said I told Tixil and Henet we were married because it might make them more comfortable."
You replied almost tentatively "So that's not why you did it?"
He shook his head softly "I really just liked the idea."
A soft smile crossed your face "The idea of what exactly? Playing make pretend?"
"Being married to you." He saw the surprise in your eyes and smiled. "I like the idea of being with you in general, actually."
Feeling that tension break, you let out a soft breath. You were sure the astonishment you were feeling was clear on your face as he smiled with mild amusement.
"I didn't think you'd be that surprised, after all I thought you might feel the same. Unless I've been a complete fool."
Finally finding your words, you shook your head "No, no you're not a fool Chris, I do feel the same. I just...I'm surprised you're admitting it."
He cocked his head a little "Why?"
"Well, nothing can happen between us, can it?"
He shrugged lightly as he hummed "I wouldn't worry about that."
You rose one brow "I don't know if I feel confident with that response."
He grinned down at you "Just take my word for it, it'll be fine. Things have a tendency of working out for me."
"That I have noticed."
He chuckled as he pulled you even closer, so you were flush against him. You noticed his eyes flick down to your lips briefly.
Meeting your eyes again, he stared deeply at you for a moment before he spoke in a whisper "Can I kiss you?"
Your heart was beating so fiercely, you swore you could both hear it. Nodding softly you whispered back "Yes."
Leaning in slowly, his lips brushed yours lightly before he kissed you deeply. You had both stopped moving, standing still in each other's arms as you kissed.
Forgetting where you were for a moment, you broke away in surprise as cheers were shouted out around you. Looking around, you saw Tixil and some others begin dancing around you as they placed a large circlet of flowers around the two of you. Nearby were a few more couples with similar garlands around them.
You and Chris looked at each other and let out amused, yet confused chuckles.
As Tixil began to yell out something in a language your translator failed to translate, you watched in bewilderment as others cheered and through a sparkly powdery substance over all of you.
"What's happening?" Chris muttered as he pulled you close to him.
"Hell if I know." You said with a bewildered smile.
As a few others chanted something as well, and they all began cheering, you and Chris locked eyes with mutual confusion. Tixil and Henet walked over to you and bowed briefly as they grinned at you.
"I am so glad you were both able to stay for the re-joining ceremony, it is such a pleasure to re-affirm the love between spouses."
As they walked away to speak to the other couples, you and Chris turned to look at each other.
"Re-joining?" He muttered.
You stared at him with an agape stare before you wondered out loud "Chris, did they just...marry us?"
He nodded quickly "I think so."
"Wow, okay. Is this what you meant by things always working out for you, and that I shouldn't worry about it?"
He looked down at you "Not exactly what I meant, no."
After a moment you both let out bewildered laughs as he pulled you close to him again. "Out of all the things that could have happened here, this is definitely not something I would have expected. But-" gently brushing some of the sparkly powder from your face he grinned "It's definitely one of the better things."
You smiled up at him "It's definitley one of the fastest moving relationships I've ever had."
"I think I can say the same." He chuckled.
"So what now?" You asked with a heavy hint of perplexion in your tone.
He shrugged a bit as he looked around "How's a honeymoon sound?"
You let out a laugh but smacked him lightly "No, seriously Chris, this isn't exactly what Starfleet command will expect from our mission."
"Well it was an honest accident, and we couldn't risk exposing our lies to the natives to get out of it, so...it is what it is, I think."
"So, we are now married on planet ZZ-1?"
He smiled down at you and nodded a bit "Look's like it." He looked around, seeing others beginning to dance again. Taking step back, he reached out his hand "So, what do you say Mx. Pike? Dance with me again?"
You let out a baffled laugh as you shook your head in astonishment but placed your hand in his. Pulling you towards him again, he grinned down at you in a mix of amusement and glee. This was definitley going down as one of his favorite missions he's ever gone on.
xx End xx
This was so much better in my head, but I could not for the life of me write it out how I wanted. But whatever, I hope you like it~

You stared at your feet as you tried to ignore the cold chill that had seemed to seep into your bones. The metal walls and lack of windows kept the cold trapped in the cell with you. Your long sleeved shirt was too thin to help, and your boots didn't keep your toes from going numb.
Closing your eyes and leaning your head back, you began to wonder what time it was. Or even what day it was. You had lost track of time a while ago, but your best bet was that you had been captured about a week ago.
You never thought your scouting mission could have gone this bad. The idea that you would have been attacked by scavengers and then taken prisoner had never crossed your mind. The worst part was, that you were alone when you were taken. It could have taken days before anyone would know that anything had happened to you.
And then what next? If they realized you had been taken, how could they have known where you were taken too? Or who you had been taken by?
You remembered the day you left the Enterprise. Standing in the docking bay outside of your shuttle, Chris in front of you.
"Good luck Y/n." He spoke with a smile.
"Thank you, Captain." You responded with a soft smile.
Your eyes locked momentarily, before you made your way into the shuttle. When you looked back at him, he was still staring you down.
"Don't stay away too long." He added, with a soft gaze.
"Why? You gonna miss me?" You asked jokingly.
"Already do." He replied with a smile that made your heart palpitate.
His eyes stayed locked on you as you closed the shuttle doors. It took you a minute before you were able to breath again. His response had caught you so off guard, you almost got dizzy.
You knew there was tension growing between you and the Captain, feelings that were becoming more obvious to both of you. Feelings that were getting too hard to ignore.
Your eyes fluttered open at the sound of distance footsteps. You let out a shaky breath as the memory of Chris faded from your mind. Your heart began to beat anxiously as the footsteps grew closer.
A pulsating ache began to pound at your sides as you recalled the beatings you had gone through by the aliens that had taken you. Not to mention the torture you were met with when you tried to escape. They intended to sell you, to who and for what, you knew not. But you would risk more than one beating before you let that happen.
Sliding into the corner of your cell, you took a few deep breaths as you heard the door begin to unlock. Your fists were clenched in anticipation. You were not going to let them get away with this so easily.
As the door slid open, your heart was beating so loudly you felt it in your head. And as someone stepped in you almost flinched. But as your eyes locked onto theirs, you felt your breath leave you as your whole body seemed to shudder.
"Chris?" Your voice was a whisper, almost too quiet to hear.
"Y/n." Chris said softly as he knelt down in front of you.
He brought his hand up to your face and felt his gut clench. Your skin was cold to the touch. You had a split lip, a cut above your eye, and various bruising along your cheek and chin. Your clothes were ragged and you had small blood stains across your side, hands and legs.
"What are you doing here? How did you find me?" You asked softly, still unsure you could believe it.
Chris furrowed his brow and frowned. "It was harder than I would have liked, but luckily these guys made a mistake."
You gave him a questioning gaze and he smiled softly. "Some of the aliens that took you stayed on the planet to scavenge your shuttle. When we went to find you, we found them instead."
You let out a soft sigh, "How long has it been?"
He spoke softly, "Eight days."
You nodded softly as Chris began to reach around you. "Now come on, we gotta get out of here."
You hissed in pain as you leaned against Chris. Limping beside him, your eyes caught on Una and Spock in the hallway. Una looked at you with a look of worry, and you gave her a small nod in assurance.
"Let's get out of here." Chris spoke as he tapped his badge.
"Pike to Enterprise, four to beam up."
There was a moment of silence before you heard Chief Kyles voice. "Sir, I can't get a good enough signal from where you are to beam you out."
"It might be the metal in this building Captain, it appears to be very dense."
"That's also probably why it's so cold in here." You mumbled, and you felt Chris pull you a bit closer.
"As soon as you get a clear lock on us Kyle, beam us out." Una said into her com.
As you slowly made your way down the hall, you felt just how weak you had gotten. Your legs were heavy and cramped, and the cold seemed to make it hard for you to move properly.
Hearing footsteps coming closer, you felt your heart skip a beat, and you absentmindedly gripped Chris's shirt.
He looked down at you, and saw the fear in your eyes. He felt a rush of anger before he pulled you closer to him, shielding you from view if the aliens were to come around the corner.
You all felt a pit in your stomach as you realized they were coming towards you. When the aliens rounded the corner, there was a moment of shock that passed over their faces as they saw all of you. As they began to yell out in alarm and reach for their weapons, you closed your eyes tightly in anticipation.
As you did so, you heard a familiar sound meet yours ears as a bright light engulfed you. When you opened your eyes, you saw the familiar transporter room around you.
Letting out a relieved sigh, you felt as though all the strength left our body as your legs swayed a bit.
"Hold on Y/n." Chris whispered as he held onto you. "Kyle beam us to the sickbay."
- - - - - - -
Between the rushed exam and treatment by Dr. M'Benga and Nurse Chapel, you had no time to talk to Chris. Not until you were mostly healed, and left to rest, did you see him again.
Looking up at the sound of footsteps, your heart palpitated as you saw Chris approaching you, a small smile on his face. Setting down you pad you smiled at him in return.
"Captain." You greeted.
He stopped beside your bed and briefly looked you over. "How are you feeling?"
"A bit tired, but better."
He nodded once as he picked up your pad, seeing you had been writing your incident report.
"You didn't have to do this just yet you know." He spoke softly as he briefly read it over.
"Yeah I know, but, what else am I gonna do?" You gestured to the empty sickbay around you.
Slowly setting down the pad, he looked back at you. "You seemed surprised to see me when we got to you. Did you really think we weren't going to find you?"
You let out a soft breath. "I had no doubt you would have. I was just surprised to see you."
"Why?" He had a hint of disbelief in his voice.
"Well, it's not every day the Captain makes a personal trip to come save you."
He smiled at this, as he shook his head softly. "Y/n-"
"I know, I know, you'd do it for anyone on the crew." You smiled at him.
"Though that is true, that's not the only reason. And, I think you know that." He tilted his head to the side as he stared tenderly at you.
Meeting Chris's eyes, you saw a certain gleam in them that added to the tension between you. Looking down, you felt your ears heat up as Chris gently placed his hand on top of yours.
"You are my family, Y/n. Everyone on this ship is, but, you- you mean more to me than- than"
"-than I should?" You finished for him.
He nodded softly as he ran his thumb over the back of your hand. "No matter what happens, I will never stop fighting for you. I will never stop protecting you. Whether that means coming to rescue you personally, or not."
You smiled softly as you looked from him to your hands. Flipping your hand over underneath his, he let his fingers linger over your palm before he gently pressed his hand against yours, intertwining his fingers with yours.
You uttered softly "Thank you Chris."
"For what?"
"For coming to get me."
"Always."
You and Chris locked eyes, the tension between you obvious, but not uncomfortable. You had no idea what would happen between you now, but you weren't as scared of it as you had been before.
xx End xx

Pairing: Implied Established Relationship Christopher Pike x Gn!Reader
Warnings: Creepy monster thing. Mentions of creature death, weapons fire. Choking (not kinky).

As you ran down the ships corridors warning people to get out of your way, you felt the ship shaking under your feet. From the windows you passed, you saw the unusual storm-like phenomenon you had encountered getting closer and closer, refusing to let the Enterprise out of it's gravitational pull.
"Hemmer, I'm here, tell me what to do!" You yelled though your comms as you got to the panel.
Struggling to keep your balance as the ship shook violently, the hull of the ship creaking, you did as Hemmer said, hoping you could get the ships shields to work before the storm engulfed you.
Lights flashed around you as you heard people yelling and running past from outside the room.
"Y/n, what's going on?" You heard Chris's voice over your comm, his voice laced with worry.
"I'm almost there!" You stressed.
Hearing the hull of the ship groan louder, you felt your chest tighten, just as you completed the last alteration.
"Done!" You yelled as you turned to look out of the window.
Your felt your heart jump as you saw an unusual bolt of energy strike the ship before seeing the panel in front of you spark. Suddenly, a wave of energy pulsed out of the panel, hitting you full force and knocking you backwards.
You were surrounded by darkness, as everything fell silent.
The entire ship shook one more time, just as the shields came back up. Pike felt himself take a deep breath as he looked over at Una.
"Shields at 80%, it's enough to keep us safe until we get out of...this." Una motioned out the window at the unusual storm.
Pike nodded his head as he spoke into his comm "Good job Y/n."
Hearing no response, Pike felt an odd feeling in his gut. He glanced over at Una before he spoke again.
"Y/n?"
Nothing.
Standing up, he spoke allowed, fearing you may have been injured. "Computer, status of Lieutenant L/n."
'Lieutenant L/n is no longer on board the ship.'
Pike felt his stomach drop as everyone turned to look at him in suspense. "Computer, pull up the camera footage of Lieutenant L/n's last location."
As the screen changed Pike feared what he would see. But when an empty room was all he saw, confusion and fear rushed over him.
"Computer." His voice was soft, as fear laced his words, everyone watched him with pained suspense "Scan the surrounding area outside the ship for Lieutenant L/n."
'No signs of living or deceased ship personnel detected outside the ship.'
An unusual mix of relief, anxiety and confusion coursed through everyone in the room.
"Captain, look at the control panel." Una said, pointing out that the panel in the room you had been in was burnt and sparking, as though it exploded. Surrounding it, was an unusual distortion field, as though energy was pulsing from it.
Spock, after checking something over his computer, turned towards the Captain. "It appears there was an unusual energy distortion in that room seconds before the ship's shields were fixed."
"What does that mean?" Chris asked.
Spock was silent for a moment "I do not know. I must see it in person."
As Chris, Spock, Una and La'an entered the room, they looked around for some sign of you, but saw nothing.
Spock began scanning the panel, which was still surrounded by an unusual distortion field. Chris watched him anxiously, waiting for some explanation of where you could have gone. And hoping that whatever it was, could mean you were still alive.
"This is most unusual." Spock muttered after checking over something again.
"What is it Spock?"
Spock could hear the anticipation and fear in the Captains voice. Turning to him, he spoke slowly.
"I cannot tell you for sure that Y/n is...uninjured, but I do believe I know why we cannot find them on the scans."
Chris motioned his head for him to continue.
"To be blunt. This energy field is not from our plane."
"What does that mean Spock?"
"It is a separate plane of existence, one invisible and invincible to our own, but in the same location. I believe it is a part of the storm that is engulfing us right now. When the energy came through the panel, I believe it may have struck or engulfed Y/n, transferring them into that separate plane."
"You mean, Y/n could be here, we just can't see them?" Una asked.
"Or hear them, yes. And if I am correct, then I do not believe Y/n will be able to see or hear us either."
Chris felt his heart racing "And how exactly can we prove this? And if it is true, how do we get Y/n back to this plane?"
Spock looked down at his scanner before meeting the Captains eyes "I do not know. Yet. I will need Hemmer's help."
--- ---
As you slowly came too, you thought you heard a familiar voice, but it sounded far away. Opening your eyes, you squinted as pain shot through your head.
Feeling a suddenly jolt of panic, you sat up, looking around the room, your eyes darted around. The entire room was engulfed in an unusual purple glow. The walls of the ship were rusted and scarred, as though it was hundreds of years old.
Letting out a shaky breath, you saw your own breath, as you realized how cold it was.
Standing, you felt panic course through you. You tapped your comm "Chris, this is Y/n, what's happening?"
As you heard only static noise come back through the com, you felt more panic rush through you.
Grabbing your communicator, you tried to contact Chris again. Hearing no response, you swallowed the lump in your throat.
Looking out the window of the ship, you saw the storm was fully engulfing the ship. It was made up of an array of bright purple clouds, with swirls of black and silver. The occasional wave of energy flashing around within the storm light lightning. Long tentacle like dark matter wrapped around the ship, as if holding on to it.
You swallowed hard as you left the room, making your way through the ship. The further you went, the more you grew worried. There were no voices, no sounds, no people. Nothing.
You felt a shiver rock through you as you held yourself, why was it so cold? Life support appeared to be on, but you assumed the ship must be damaged.
Suddenly, a low guttural groan echoed down the darkened hall ahead of you, reverberating off of the walls. A sound you could almost feel in your bones.
You felt your whole body freeze, and your breath hitch as goosebumps rose up your arms. The hair on the back of your neck stood up as your fight of flight response kicked in.
Placing your hand on the hilt of your phaser, you made your way slowly down the hall, your eyes darting around constantly for the source of that unearthly noise. Could it have been caused by the storm outside somehow?
When you finally made it to the bridge, you looked around, your eyes hesitating on Chris's empty seat. You felt an odd chill crawl up your spine as you realized there were no bodies either. Where could they have gone? What happened?
Rushing to Spock's station you began trying to scan the ship, but the computer was not responding to you. Trying again but getting nowhere you groaned in frustration as you felt your eyes burn.
"Come on!" Taking a deep breath, you spun around and spoke allowed. "Computer."
Nothing.
"Computer, respond."
Still nothing.
You let out frustrated breath as you looked around, unsure of what to do. Moving to Uhura's station, you tried to scan for communications inside and outside the ship. When you were unable to get the computers to respond you crouched down, leaning your head against the table as you let out a shaky breath.
Standing a moment later, having gathered your emotions, you turned and looked around the empty and eerie bridge. You would go to engineering, and see if you could find a way to access the ships computers from there.
As you made your way into the lift, you felt the ship shake, as an unusual high pitched sound echoed through the ship. You frowned, uncertain of what it was.
Making it to the engineering deck, you walked out of the lift, before stopping in place as a deep whisper echoed down the hall "Computer. Respond."
It was your voice, but distorted, almost mocking. It was not you.
Your breath caught in your throat as your hand landed on your phaser. Slowly, you stepped down the corridor, making as little noise as possible, and listening closely. Was this the same thing that made the noise earlier? Is it alive? Or are you stuck in some sort of distortion field?
As you made it into engineering, you closed the doors behind you before scanning the room closely. Silently, you tried to get access to the computers, but with no luck, you sat down on the floor, back to the wall as you felt hopelessness begin to take over.
Hearing a loud bang come from somewhere on the ship, you felt your heart jolt. You felt hopeful that it might be someone else, but as another eerie growl-like sound echoed from somewhere outside engineering, you felt fear replace your hope.
--- --- ---
Chris tapped his fingers impatiently as he waited for Spock to tell him what he found. It had been four hours since you disappeared, and fear encased Chris. He needed to know you were okay, he needed to know he could find you and bring you home.
"Captain."
Chris's eyes snapped up as he saw Spock in front of him. He stood quickly.
"It took some time, but using the distortion field in the room where Y/n vanished, I was able to alter my scanner to scan for anything within the separate plane. Once I succeeded I was able to upload the data to the computer-"
"Get to the point Spock, did you find Y/n."
He nodded "Yes Sir, I believe I did. Altering Y/n's DNA sequence with the specifications of the separate plane, I was able to find a similar pattern within the room Y/n disappeared from. I was then able to scan the entire ship, and found a similar pattern in the engineering room."
"So Y/n is in engineering?" Una asked from nearby.
"Y/n may be trying to figure out what happened on their own." Hemmer spoke from beside Spock "I can only assume, the ship will not respond to Y/n, as it is not exactly within the same plane."
Spock nodded in agreement "We are working on a communicator that might be able to send a frequency into the storms plane, so that we can communicate with Y/n."
Chris let out a sign of relief. "And what about getting Y/n back to this plane?"
"We have an idea for that as well Captain, but we will need Y/n's help." Hemmer responded.
Chris nodded "Alright. Get on it."
--- ---
Letting out a frustrated yell, you threw the tool in your hands at the wall nearby before sliding down to the ground. You put your head in your hands in defeat, as your chest ached with anxiety.
It had been hours since you woke up alone on the ship. You knew little to nothing about what happened to the crew. All you were able to do so far was get the the ship to scan for the crew. It reported no life signs, not even your own, which only confused you more.
Being left alone with your thoughts and worries did not help. You were plagued with various thoughts and ideas.
The crew was dead and so were you. This was purgatory, you were trapped. You were in a coma and this was a dream.
Everyone was dead.
That was the worst thought.
As you thought of Chris you felt your heart ache. Pushing the thoughts away, you tried to focus on the ideas that they were alive, and it was you. You were the one dead, or in a coma, or lost somewhere somehow. That was easier to accept than the idea of all of them being gone.
And then there were the ideas about what else was on the ship with you.
The computer did not pick up on any other life signs separate from the crews genetic scans. Over the last few hours you heard various noises coming from within the ship. Some sounded like voices, whispers, some sounded like growls.
Whatever it was, you had no idea if it had harmful intentions, and you didn't particularly want it to know.
Leaning your head back against the wall, you let out a defeated and exhausted sigh. You wanted to sleep. Maybe if you fell asleep, you would wake up and everything would be back to normal.
But something in the back of your mind told you not to close your eyes for too long. So you tried not too. But as your eyes grew heavy, you felt yourself losing the battle.
"Y/n?"
Your eyes shot open at the familiar voice. You looked around the room as you stood up. Your heart was racing.
"Chris?" You asked out loud, confused as you saw no one.
"Y/n, can you hear me? It's Chris."
His voice was surrounded by static, barely audible. Looking down, you saw your communicator on the floor. Grabbing it, you spoke into it.
"Chris, I can hear, you. Can you hear me?"
You waited, but heard no reply.
Everyone on the bridge waited with baited breath for you to reply over the comms. But hearing nothing but static in reply, everyone's hearts dropped.
"I have an idea Captain."
You heard Spock's voice, and felt another jolt of relief.
"Y/n. This is Spock. If you can hear me, I need you to do what I say. You were transferred into another plane by the storm surrounding our ship. You are on another frequency entirely. This is what you need to do."
Listening to his instructions, you altered the communicator, hoping it would work.
Transferred to another plane of existence was not an idea that came to mind, but it was better than the ones that did.
As Spock finished giving his instructions, everyone waited tensely. They heard the crackling of static continue over the comms. Chris's hand gripped his chair tightly, his knuckles white.
"Hel-o? I'm here, ca- you he-ar me?"
Everyone let out a relieved sigh as some clapped. Chris stood quickly out of relief when he heard your voice.
"Y/n, your voice is distorted but we can hear you."
You nearly jumped with joy and relief as you heard Chris respond to you, as well as the voices of the crew in the background. You felt overwhelmed, as tears came to your eyes.
"Are you okay?" He asked.
You nodded, forgetting for a moment he couldn't see you.
"Yes, yes I'm alright. More relieved than you know to hear your voice. God I was so afraid you were all gone."
"We're here, everyone's here. And we're gonna get you back home, alright?"
You let out a sigh. "Sounds good to me."
After Spock explained his idea, you waited for instructions. You could hear the bridge crew chatting over the communicator.
"How crazy where you going all alone on the ship?" You heard Eric'as voice.
Remembering what had happened earlier you swallowed hard. "Yeah, about that."
Erica looked at Chris with mild alarm "Y/n?" Chris asked.
"I don't think I'm alone."
Everyone on the bridge paused, even Spock turned around with a raised brow.
"What does that mean?" Erica asked.
"There's something here, on the ship. I'm not sure what it is. I've heard it speak, or at least it copied my voice. Sometimes it sounds like an animal. But I haven't actually seen it."
Chris looked over at Spock "Can you scan for other life forms within the plane?"
"I can try."
"Y/n, did you say it copied your voice?" La'an asked.
You sighed "Yes. But it was distorted, and it was almost like it was mocking me."
Chris felt goosebumps rise on his arms as he grew worried again.
"Dangerous?" La'an asked.
"Well every other noise I've heard has sounded similar to a growl of sorts, so maybe? I'd rather not find out."
"Captain, I can confirm that there are signs of life within the plane, not only on the ship but within the storm itself."
"There are things living in there?" Chris asked as he looked out at the storm surrounding them.
"I'm sorry, did you say 'signs of life' as in multiple?" You voice came through.
"Yes. There are multiple."
"Oh. Great. Any idea how long it'll take me to get back to you guys?"
Spock looked over at Hemmer "I am uncertain."
"Well lets hope I can continue to avoid whatever else is on the ship with me."
After Spock and Hemmer explained their idea to you, you did what you could from engineering before you had to make your way to the transporter room.
They were going to use a similar energy distortion that transported you to this plane. Powered by the transporter, that you would use at the same exact time, hoping it would transport you back to the proper plane.
The others managed to get the warp engine back online, so as soon as you were back with them, you would all warp out of the storm. And all of this would be over.
As you made your way out into the hall, you spoke into the communicator "Alright, I'm going."
"Be careful Y/n." Chris said softly.
Making your way towards the lift, you heard a distant bang, causing you to pause momentarily. Picking up your pace as you got to the lift, you quickly slid inside.
As the lift doors began to close, you saw a shadow dart past, making you gasp softly. You felt relief when the lift door shut, but your heart was still racing.
"Y/n?" Chris asked softly, having heard your gasp.
"There was something right outside the lift as it closed."
"You have your phaser?"
"Yes."
"Good."
You took in a deep breath as the lift stopped. As the transporter door slid open, you felt your body freeze.
In front of the transporter door, staring in at you, was you. But not you.
It was taller, limbs longer, long fingers tipped with pointed nails. It's skin was grey and cracked, it wore no clothes, but had no human-like features, except your face. Sunken and black eyes stared back at you, there as no emotion on it's face. It let out a shaky breath, it's chest heaving in an unusual way.
"Hello. I'm here. Can you hear me?"
The voice that came out was yours, but emotionless and tinted with a deep echo within it. The creatures mouth did not move as it spoke.
Chris froze in place as he heard the voice come over the comms. It was not you that spoke, that was clear enough. But the voice sent chills up his spine. As his eyes cast over everyone on the bridge, their faces were frozen in fear and discomfort.
Your mind was racing as it stared at you, making no movement to hurt you. You considered it was an intelligent race, perhaps trying to figure out how to communicate with you.
"Hello?" You asked softly, not moving.
Slowly, it's head tilted, as though it was trying to understand you. Seeing it's eyes narrow, and mouth twitch, you felt within your gut that you were wrong.
Just as you thought this, the creature lunged at you with great force, and a large shriek.
You threw yourself to the ground and grabbed your phaser, trying to fire at it. As your phaser failed to fire, you pushed your legs off the lift wall, sliding out of the lift. As the creature turned, you kicked the lift button, causing the doors to slide closed.
As the creature lunged at you, you kicked it, causing it to stagger back far enough that it became locked within the lift as the doors closed. It banged on the lift doors, as you rose and began running towards the transporter room, only now hearing the sound of Chris over your comms.
A large guttural shriek, followed by your own distorted voice yelling out "Y/n! Y/n! Y/n!" was followed by loud bangs from within the lift.
"Y/n!" Chris yelled one more time.
Hearing your gasping voice coming over the comms, he could tell you were running.
"One of the creatures found me, it tried to attack me. My phaser doesn't work, but I got it locked in the lift."
"Are you injured?" You heard M'bangas voice.
"I don't think so."
"Make sure to lock yourself in the transporter room, once you get there" Spock said.
"Yeah I-"
You slid to a stop as you heard the sound of running from down the hall in front of you, following by a loud shriek that sent a cold chill down your spine.
The crew, hearing it as well held their breaths, none of them daring to speak now.
Pushing yourself against the wall, you peered down the hall, waiting to see where the creature would go. You held your breath when it appeared at the end of the hall as only a silhouette, in the eerie purple light.
The creature chittered as it peered down the hall. You couldn't help but wonder if it wore your face as well.
You feared it would have some way of seeing you, but as it quickly moved along, down a different corridor, you let out a soft relieved breath.
Slowly, and softly, you made your way down the hall before speaking in a whisper into your comms "It's gone."
Everyone on the bridge let out a sigh of relief . La'an spoke allowed. "What do they look like?"
"They're humanoid, but they're limbs were all longer than normal. Long fingers, sharp nails. Grey cracked skin. And, the one at the lift had my face, or at least some version of it."
Discomfort could be felt over the bridge, as Chris frowned as he looked at La'an. "Recognize that description?"
She shook her head, alarm evident on her face, echoing that of the entire crews "Not in the slightest."
As you reached the transporter room, you locked the door behind you "I'm here."
"Alright, we're heading to the transporter room as well, remember what we said to do?" Hemmer asked as he, Spock, La'an, Una and Chris all headed to the lift.
"Yeah, I'm on it."
As you did your best to alter the transporter system, you heard a distant banging, followed by loud yelling. You tried not to worry about this idea of failing, but the idea of being stuck with those creatures for any longer terrified you. Especially since your phaser appeared not to work.
"Spock, anyway I might make my phaser work?"
"Perhaps it must be altered just as your communicator."
"Is that something you can walk me through? I think that creature got out of the lift."
"I believe I can."
As the sound of the creatures grew closer and closer to the transporter room, you waited for Spock to tell you when to trigger the transporter.
You looked down at your altered phaser, hoping it would work if you needed it.
You jumped as you heard a scratching sound on the other side of the doors, followed by a loud bang.
"Y/n. Can you here me? I'm here."
You chest tightened. "They found me."
Chris blood ran cold as he heard your voice. He looked at Spock and Hemmer who continued to work as fast as they could.
"Just stay calm Y/n. I'm here."
You took in a deep breath, holding your communicator and phaser tightly in your hands, as the creatures slammed into the doors. It sounded as thought there were four or five of them, their echoing shrieks and growls making your skin crawl.
"Alright Y/n only a few more alterations." You heard Hemmer say.
You began bouncing impatiently on you toes as you looked between the doors and the transporter. Anticipation and fear gripped you as your chest grew tight.
Hearing a metallic creaking, your head shot towards the doors as you saw the transporter door begin to crack open. Seeing long fingers slide through, you let out a shaky breath.
"Oh God."
"Y/n?"
"They're pulling the doors open." You voice was nearly a whisper.
"Y/n. It's Chris. Don't worry. I'm here."
Your eyes widened a bit as an eerie and distorted version of Chris's voice came through the door.
Chris looked at Una and La'an with a panicked expression, before he looked over at Spock and Hemmer "How much longer?"
"Nearly there!"
As the doors slowly started to be forced open, you saw one of the creatures trying to force itself into the room. As it's eyes landed on you, it let out a gutteral growl.
Lifting your phaser, you aimed and fired, hitting the creature in the face. It screamed and disappeared for a moment, before another took it's place. It seemed that only one of them had your face. The others faces were all the same, no noses, black eyes, and large mouths filled with sharp black teeth.
You fired again and again until the creature finally fell to the ground. Your breath became heavy as another began to force itself through the door.
There was a cacophony of familiar, yet distorted voices coming from the creatures.
"Y/n!" It yelled in Chris's voice. "Are you injured?" another one mocked in M'bangas voice.
The voices of of Erica, Spock and Hemmer could be heard as well. Growing louder and angrier as the creatures tried to force there way in, the doors groaning louder as they were forced open.
"Hemmer?" Chris asked, his voice filled with worry as he heard the sound of phaser fire coming over the comms.
"Y/n, now!" Hemmer yelled as he finished.
Slamming the transporter button, you ran to the pad as you continued to fire at the creatures. Your heart dropped as one made it's way through. It was the one that looked like you. You fired again and again, but the creature did not stop.
The creature leapt in the air, before landing in front of you, knocking both the communicator and phaser from your hands. You let out a strangled gasp as the creature wrapped it's large hand around your throat and began lifting you in the air.
You grabbed its rough hands, attempting to pry them off of your neck as the transporter lit up around you.
Chris and the others stared in anticipation at the transporter lit up. Seeing something begin to form on the pad, their eyes widened, seeing something much larger than you forming.
When the lights faded, and they saw the tall creature holding you in the air. As the creature with your face looked over at them, none of them hesitated as they all fired their phasers at the creature.
The creature turned towards them and let out an angry roar, dropping you to the ground just as it staggered and fell to the ground.
As Chris ran over to you, you let out a gasp of air as you reached out and grabbed him. Pulling you away from the creature, he held you tightly in his arms.
"Ortegas, we got Y/n, get us out of here." Una said into her comms as she stared down at the creature, kicking it lightly to test it. Looking over at you, she motioned her head "You good?"
Looking up at her briefly, as you continued to grip onto Chris. You looked back at the creature.
Suddenly, the creatures eyes shot open as it began to rise from the creature on the floor, you grabbed Chris's phaser from the ground next to you and fired at it until it went limp again.
You stared at it for a moment, it's black eyes staring blankly at nothing, before you looked over at Una and nodded.
"Yeah, I'm good."

Standing in front of the mirror, Erica ran her hands through her hair. As her eyes caught on the reflection of her tattoo, she paused in her movements. Looking down at her arm, she gently ran her fingers over the tattoo.
She remembered the first day it appeared, right around the time she joined Starfleet. It appeared later than many other's tattoos did. Causing her to fear that maybe she didn't have a soulmate at all. But when it finally appeared, she got so excited when she saw it, she couldn't stop showing people.
It wasn't very big, and was located on her upper wrist of her left arm. It depicted a colorful planet of oranges, pinks and tans, with rings around it. She had never seen a planet like it in her years in Starfleet so far.
But she waited impatiently for the day her eyes would see it for the first time. Because she knew it meant that she would meet her soulmate.
The tattoos always had something to do with how you meet your soulmate. She figured it meant her soulmate lived on whatever planet it was that she had on her arm. Or at least that was where they would meet. But when that would happen, she had no idea.
Every time the Enterprise visited a new planet, she held an anxious excitement that it might finally be the planet. And every time it wasn't, she grew more and more disappointed, and even more impatient as time went on.
The thought of her soulmate sat heavily on her mind as she finished getting ready and made her way to the bridge. They would be going to another new planet today, well, new for her.
And maybe, just maybe, today would be the day she set her eyes on the planet that held her soulmate.
Was her soulmate anxiously waiting for her as well? Wondering when they would finally meet? How often had they run their hands over their tattoos, thinking of each other at the same time?
- - -
Your eyes were glued to the screen as the projected planet reflected the one on your own arm. A mix of anxiety and excitement sat in your chest.
After learning of the Starfleet mission to hold a meeting with the government of a planet called Xalis, that had previously rejected joining the Federation, you were tasked with prepping the Captain of the Enterprise for the meeting on planet.
Once you saw that the planet was the one on your arm, the one symbolizing how you would meet your soulmate, you convinced Admiral April to let you go down to the planet with Captain Pike. Luckily for you, you had known the Admiral for a long time, and he was more of a romantic than he would admit.
Your thoughts were interrupted when the doors slid open and Admiral April himself walked in.
"Admiral." You greeted.
"Lieutenant Commander L/n." He greeted professionally, before you could see a soft smile grace his face. "Ready?"
You nodded, repressed your own smile. "Yes Sir."
"I know I don't have to remind you that you are going down to the planet for an official and very important Federation meeting, that is the primary mission at hand."
"Yes, Sir."
"That is where I need your primary focus. But, with other matters, I wish you the best of luck."
"Thank you Sir."
"The Enterprise is arriving now, they are awaiting your arrival. Good luck Lieutenant."
You nodded your head at the Admiral as he turned to leave. Taking a deep breath, you walked over to the window, and looked out, seeing the Enterprise approaching. Grabbing your supplies, you made your way to the transporter station.
- - - - -
"Lieutenant L/n has been beamed aboard Captain." Spock announced.
"Thank you Mister Spock. Alright, everyone, listen up."
Erica turned in her chair as Pike began making an announcement.
"Today's mission is fairly simple. We're going to the outer quadrant of a non federation system to the planet Xalis. To meet with a highly advanced civilization who previously rejected joining the Federation. A week ago, they elected a new board of officials, who are more interested in joining the Federation than the last. The planets government system is a bit more complicated than we're used to, so, we will be joined by an Intelligence Officer, assigned to us for the mission by Admiral April. Lieutenant Commander L/n will aid us in understanding the people we are to meet, and help with the negotiations. So, now that we have our new Intelligence officer, we'll be on our way. Everyone understand?"
As a cacophony of 'Yes Sir's" met his ears, Pike met Erica's eyes and nodded.
Erica smiled as she turned to her controls. "Planet Xalis, here we come."
As the lift doors slid open, Erica looked back, seeing Una entering onto the bridge with someone she had never seen before. 'Wow' the thought entered her mind before she expected it, but she was not surprised, you were certainly attractive.
The Captain approached you with his hand stretched out. "Lieutenant L/n, Captain Pike, welcome aboard."
You smiled and nodded your head as you shook his hand. "Pleasure to be here Captain. Thank you for allowing me to join you."
He smiled and nodded before he turned towards the bridge. "If you don't mind, would you briefly brief my crew on what we are heading into?"
"Of course." Looking around, you met the eyes of the crew, your eyes lingering on those of the ship's pilot. 'Cute' you briefly thought before you began to speak.
"Xalis is a small planet on the outer ridge of a system they refer to as 'The Xalissian Sector'. They pride themselves in their technology and government systems. They haven't had any war on their planet for nearly three hundred years, which is why the Federation was originally interested in befriending them. But, Xalis at the time was run by officials who had no interest in being in the Federation. Mainly because they feared we would bring them into a war they wanted no part in. With the newer officials being more interested, and wishing to negotiate a treaty with the Federation, that would allow them to be a part of it, without having to be involved with any wars or battles we might find ourselves in, we might just make some new friends today."
Erica smiled as she listened to you speak. You seemed interesting, and nice. Much better than some intelligence officers she's met. When you finished speaking, you and the Captain made your way off off the bridge to discuss the mission more.
Erica looked down at her controls and let out a soft sigh. This mission felt different, but she didn't know why. She didn't want to be hopeful for no reason, but she couldn't seem to stop the jittery feeling taking over, that seemed to grow the closer they got to Xalis. It was three hours to the planet, maybe she would feel less anxious by then.
- - - - - -
"So, Y/n, what's it like working on a Starbase?" Erica asked as she watched you from across the mess-hall table.
You took a sip of your drink, as Nurse Chapel and Ensign Uhura watched you as well.
"Much less exciting than being on a ship." You admitted. "I've been transferred to multiple different ships a few times, but they never let me stay."
"Why?" Chapel asked.
"A lot of Captains don't like having an intelligence officer, many think it's a pointless job when they already have a second in command and a security chief."
Uhura shrugged her head. "I can see how that would make sense, but you'd think having a Intelligence Officer on board would take off unnecessary stress from the second in command and security chief, so they can focus on their primary jobs."
You pointed at her. "That's what I always say, but-" You shrugged "They never listen, so I just get bounced around as needed."
Erica watched your closely "Maybe Pike will take a liking to you."
You smiled at her and she felt her heart jump a bit.
"Maybe. It would be nice to actually have a place to belong."
Erica watched you closely, unable to shake a feeling that she knew you. Or unable to shake an attraction that was forming. But reminding herself that her soulmate was waiting for her somewhere else, she shook the thought away.
"We'll put in a good word for you." Christine smiled, making you chuckle.
"Thanks."
"Erica, we are approaching Xalis." Jenna's voice came through Erica's comm.
"Got it, I'll be there in a minute."
Stretching, you stood with Erica, she watched you "You coming to the bridge?"
You shook your head. "No, I'm going to get prepared to go down to the planet. I have a feeling this is going to be a long negotiation."
Erica watched as you left the room, before she looked down at Christine and Uhura who were smirking at her.
"What?"
"Someones got a crush." Christine teased.
Erica tapped her covered wrist. "Someones got a soulmate."
Christine rolled her eyes as Erica left, "Someones in denial."

As Erica sat down at the controls, she heard Pike enter the bridge. "Whats our status Erica?"
"Coming out of warp Sir, in three...two...one"
When Enterprise jumped out of warp, Erica looked up and felt her breath catch in her throat. The planet was just ahead, it as a relatively small planet, the atmosphere made up of bright oranges and pink clouds, with rings around the planet. Identical to the one on her arm.
Jenna, recognizing this, looked over at Erica with a startled look, who turned to meet her gaze.
"Something I should know about?" Pike asked as he noticed this exchange of looks.
As Uhura entered into the bridge her eyes locked on the planet and she let out a soft gasp, making the Captain look between them with a confused look. Looking back at the planet, he realized it did seem familiar.
"Wait a minute..." Pike trailed off as he looked down at Erica.
She looked back at him, her face a bank stare of shock. As realization hit Pike, he stood and and walked over to Erica. Gently taking her arm, he pulled down her sleeve, and lifted her arm.
Comparing the tattoo to Xalis, he let out a soft laugh. "Well would you look at that."
A smile finally spread across Erica's face as she met the Captains gaze. "Permission to come down to the planet with you Captain?"
He smiled at her "I think that could be arranged."
Erica met Jenna, and then Uhura's eyes, who smiled at her in excitement and wonder. As Erica looked back at the planet Xalis, and began taking the Enterprise closer, her heart beat heavily in her chest as she tried to steady her hands.
This was why this mission felt different. It was like she knew somewhere deep down that it was finally time to meet her soulmate. And she couldn't be more ready.

As you entered into the transporter room, you had a momentary feeling of confusion as you saw Erica standing beside the Captain. But the anxiety of beaming down to the planet where your Soulmate surely waited, pushed the thought aside.
Your mind rotated the same thought over and over. Primary mission, hold the negotiations, and then find your soulmate. Maybe your soulmate would be a part of the negotiations. That would certainly make this whole thing a lot easier.
That ideal thought was proven incorrect however, when you met with the official council of Xalis. The warmer temperature of the planet allowed you to see their arms easily, as they wore more revealing clothing. Looking for any matching tattoos, you were disappointed when you saw that those who had tattoos on their arms did not match your own.
Even with that disappointment lingering in your mind, the negotiations went as well as you could hope. After leaving Captain Pike to finish the deal, you made your way through the center of the city, overwhelmed with the amount of people the small planet seemed to have.
As you walked down a set of stairs, you spotted Erica, leaning on a banister as she looked out at a bright pink waterfall leading into a large lake in the center of the city.
Erica was startled when someone appeared beside her, turning, she saw you leaning against the banister. "Oh, hey, the negotiations over?"
"Mostly, Captain Pike is finishing up now. It went well."
Erica watched you for a moment, "You seem quite subdued for someone who helped achieve something that has been in the works for nearly ten years."
You smiled and let out a soft breath "Yeah, I was just expecting...more, but it doesn't matter. What did you come down here for? I thought you were going to be in the meeting as well."
"Oh no, I came down for something else, to find...someone...but, it didn't happen."
"You've been here before?" You asked with piqued interest.
She shook her head. "No, no, this is my first time, I just-" she cleared her throat as she pulled up her sleeve, revealing her tattoo. "When I saw that Xalis matched my tattoo, I thought I would find my soulmate here, but there are so many people, I just- what?"
When Erica looked back over at you, you were staring wide-eyed down at her tattoo. Slowly, you looked up and met her gaze. "That was why you came down to the planet?"
"Yeah?"
Erica's heart picked up pace as she watched you grab your own sleeve and being to pull it up.
"I originally wasn't supposed to come down to Xalis for this negotiation but, when I saw that Xalis matched my tattoo...I requested to come."
Erica's breath caught in her throat as she saw the identical tattoo on your own wrist, perfectly reflecting her own.
Your eyes met as the tension rose between you, the silence was heavy as neither of you knew what to say or do.
Finally you spoke, your voice soft. "Seeing how many people were here, I thought it would be impossible to find my soulmate...I didn't stop to think I had already met them."
Erica let out a soft laugh as she shook her head. "I knew there was something about you, that seemed so...familiar, but I was so determined to think my soulmate was on the planet too. But, the tattoo didn't mean this is where we would meet, it's just-"
"Why we met." You finished her thought.
Erica nodded and let out another soft laugh. "Imagine if we spent all our time here looking for someone else, and never figured it out."
You chuckled "I don't want to imagine how crazy that would drive me."
Erica looked around, letting out a soft chuckle "God, I always thought about the moment I would meet my soulmate, I never thought about what to do after."
You laughed "Neither have I. But I guess one way to start, is by telling you you were right. Pike did take a liking to me, and asked if I wanted to stay on the Enterprise. I told him I'd think about it, mostly because I was waiting to meet my soulmate to decide what to do, but, now I know."
Erica grinned, "You're gonna stay?"
"Well obviously." You said with a laugh.
Erica laughed as well "Just checking."
"Hey you two." A voice broke in.
Looking over, you saw Captain Pike and Commander Spock approaching.
"What's got you two so happy?" Looking over at Erica he smiled "Find what you were looking for."
Erica smiled as she glanced at you and then back at Pike. "Yes Sir, but not how I was expecting."
As Pike cocked his head in wonder, you and Erica stretched out your wrists, showing your matching soulmate marks. Pike and Spock's brows rose in surprise.
Pike grinned "Well, isn't that something." He met your eyes. "I was wondering why April insisted you come to Xalis with us."
You shrugged your head as you and Erica locked eyes again.
"So, I assume this means you are going to accept my offer of staying on the Enterprise with us?" Pike asked cheerfully.
You met his eyes and nodded "If you're certain your okay with it, yes Sir"
Erica raised her hand up "If it's left to a vote, I vote yes."
Pike looked over at Spock "What do you think Mister Spock?"
Spock rose a single brow as he looked at the Captain. "I have always suggested the use an Intelligence Officer would have aboard the Enterprise. And, considering what has now occurred, it would be...cruel, to not allow Lieutenant L/n to stay."
Pike smiled as he looked back at you. "I agree. Welcome to the family Y/n."
You grinned as you looked back at Erica, as your heart fluttered. "Thank you Captain."
"Well. We have a few more tings to clear up with the Xalis council, why don't you two go get to know one another a bit more, we'll let you know when it's time to leave."
"Are you sure you don't need me anymore Captain?"
He shook his head softly with a smile. "We can handle it."
As he and Spock left, you and Erica locked eyes again, as your smiled reflected each others. "So, wanna get some lunch?" Erica asked.
You smiled and nodded, "Yes, I do."
Turning, you began making your way towards the city, arms brushing as your hearts fluttered, and butterflies rampaged through your stomachs. All this time you had been waiting for one another, waiting for the moment you could plan the rest of your lives. It was definitley worth the wait.
xx End xx
This did not come out as long as I wanted, nor did I really know how to end it, lol, but I hope you enjoyed it!

As you walked through the ship, you were amused at the various confused and alarmed looks from the non-human crew you passed.
Your makeup made your appearance much paler than usual, the enhanced bags under your eyes, making you look as you intended, dead.
The human crew you passed knew well enough what was going on, as many of them were dressed up as well. Various monsters, characters and original ideas passed you in the halls.
On Earth, though it was very far away, it was Halloween. Since the Enterprise was on no current mission, and far away from any real life, Captain Pike found no harm in allowing the celebration for the crew, and even decided to embrace it himself.
Rounding the corner, your smile widened as you saw Erica talking to Uhura in the doorway.
Erica was dressed in a black suit with a cape paired with fake fangs in her mouth to complete her Vampiric look. Uhura was donning a classic black witchy outfit, and pointed hat, and had a broom in her hand.
As you approached them, they turned to greet you with smiles. Erica placed her hand on your back in greeting as you stood beside her.
"Nice hat" You complemented, as you eyed Uhura's tall pointed witch hat.
"Thank you, nice...what are you?"
You chuckled "Just a ghost."
"Ahh."
"I have a sheet with eye holes too."
"Oh, very classic." Erica added, amused.
Hearing Pikes voice over your comms, you all went silent "Ortegas, Uhura, L/n, get to the bridge please."
"Yes Captain, something wrong?"
"I'm not sure." His voice replied.
You all shared uncertain looks as you made your way towards the bridge. As you exited the lift, your eyes immedietely fell to the view outside the ship.
"Woah." You said softly, as you eyed the unusual phenomenon ahead of the ship.
"What is that?" Erica asked as she made her way to her station.
"It appears to be an ion storm of sorts, but it is emitting an unusual frequency." Spock said.
Looking around the bridge, you noted the various costumes some crew-members were donning. Una had cat ears and a tail, Captain Pike was dressed as a Pirate, and Jenna was wearing a halo and fake wings.
"Nice hat Captain." You commented as you made your way to your station.
He nodded and smiled "Thank you Lieutenant."
"The storm seems to be getting closer Sir, should I get us out of here?" Erica asked.
"Sounds like a good idea." He replied.
As you heard the ship's engines begin to rev up, you all started as the ion storm flashed brightly and expanded quickly towards the ship.
"What the-" Erica began, before the ship suddenly shook violently.
"Erica" Pike's voice rang out with clear concern.
"I'm trying."
You could hear the Enterprise engines roaring as it attempting it's escape, but the ship remained still.
"We're not moving." Erica said, clear frustration in her voice.
As the ship shook again, a bright light exploded from the storm again, you all watched as something seemed to wrap around the ship.
"What was that? Spock?"
"I'm uncertain Captain, but I no longer believe this is an ion storm, I believe we may be in the grasp of a creature."
"A creature? You think it's alive?"
He nodded "Yes."
"Can we communicate with it?"
"Of that I am uncertain."
"I can try." Uhura said uncertainly as she tried to communicate with the creature.
Shaking her head after a few moments, failing to gain any response, the ship shook again. Suddenly, all of the lights on the ship shut down for a second before coming back on.
"Una?"
"All systems normal, I don't know what that was."
"Maybe it's trying to communicate with us?" Uhura asked.
Staring as Uhura, you noted that she appeared a bit different "Uhh, Uhura...was your nose always like that?"
She looked at you in confusion before she grabbed her now much more crooked nose. Standing up abruptly, she looked clearly alarmed.
Looking back at the others, your eyes widened as you stared at Una. Pointing at her you stared agape "Umm, ears...moving."
Una reached up and touched the cat ears on her head before gasping as the ear twitched "I felt that."
Captain Pike stood up, before slowly reaching up underneath the false eye patch he was donning. Seeing his visible eye widen, he looked over at Una who shook her head "No."
"Yes."
You could see Jenna pulling at the wings on her back, that now seemed attached to her back.
"Ow!" You heard Erica exclaim as she reached towards her mouth. You watched as she touched the now real fangs in her mouth before she looked over at you.
Standing up alarmed she stepped towards you "Y/n."
"What?" You asked alarmed, seeing she was staring down at your body.
Looking down, you felt a jolt of panic as you looked at your hands. Your body was seemingly opaque, you could still see your body, but you could also see through it.
"What's happening?" You asked alarmed as you looked over at the Captain.
He shook his head, clearly unsure as he looked over at Spock.
As the lift doors opened, you all turned to see M'Benga walk into the bridge, with very real large horns coming out of his head, as sharp teeth protruded from his mouth.
He motioned his hands towards everyone, speaking with a muffled voice "At least it's not just me."
"Jesus." You muttered.
Looking at you, he pointed, clearly seeing you were nearly invisible.
"I know." You commented as you shrugged your arms.
"What the hell is going on?" He asked bewildered.
"I'm not certain, but I do know it has to do with that." Captain Pike said as he turned and looked out at the unknown creature surrounding the ship.
As the ship shook again, the lights flickering, you swallowed "Uh-oh."
Pike tapped his comms "Hemmer. Can you get us out of here?"
"It might help if I know what is going on."
"It seems that a large space...creature has us in it's grasp."
"Ah. That is certainly concerning. I suppose I can try."
Pike sighed "Please do, it's affecting the crew."
"How so?"
Pike looked around as he shook his head "I wish I could explain without sounding insane."
There was a moments pause before Hemmer's voice came through again. "Seeing as one of my previously human engineers just came in with very real claws and fangs, I think I can figure it out."
Pike sighed as he looked around "Lets hope this....transformation stops here."
--- --- ---
After an hour of panic from everyone on the crew, failed communication with the creature holding the ship, and various attempts at escape, you made your way from engineering back to the bridge.
Feeling the ship shake, as the lights went out again, you tightened your grip on the rails, and let out a sharp breath.
As the lift doors opened, you walked out onto the bridge "Captain, Hemmer and Spock have another idea they are ready to try."
You watched as the Captain and Erica turned back at the sound of your voice, but all stared with wide eyes.
"Uh...what?" You asked
Erica stood up "Oh Shit. Y/n?"
"...Yeah?"
"Where are you?" The Captain asked as he faced you.
"What do y-....oh no. Am I completely invisible now?" You asked with panic lacing your voice as you looked down at your body.
It still appeared opaque to you, able to see through your own hand still.
You watched as everyone nodded lightly, mouths agape.
"Oh great."
"Captain." A deep hoarse voice came over the comms.
Pike furrowed his brow "Yes?"
"It's M'Benga. It's getting worse. I have a patient here whose fake wound became a real one. And I myself am continuing to change."
"Yeah, Y/n is now completely invisible. Anyone else showing conerning signs?"
"Not yet."
Pike nodded as he looked in your general direction "This plan Hemmer and Spock have, is it promising?"
You nodded, forgetting they couldn't see you "I think so. But it will take some time, I'm not sure how long."
Pike frowned "Lets hope we get out of this before we all become a bit too realistic."
Hearing the sound of the lift open up, you turned to see Nurse Chapel exit, with a black cat in her arms.
"Oh no." You said as you eyed the cat, which meowed in response.
Chapel looked around in concern "Y/n?"
"Yep. Here."
"Uh oh." She replied softly as the cat, aka Una, jumped from her arms.
Everyone watched at Una jumped up onto her station, and looked at Captain Pike before meowing.
Pike sighed "Hello Una."
You turned and looked at Chapel "I thought you were dressed up as well."
Chapel looked in your direction as she nodded "I did, but as soon as everyone else started to become their costumes, I took mine off. Though I think I was a bit late." Showing her hands, you saw long sharp claws at the ends of her fingers.
"Yikes." Erica said as she eyed them.
"Nice fangs." Chapel commented.
Erica nodded her head "Thanks, I hate them."
"I think they kind of suit you." You commented, making Erica smile softly.
"Lets just hope I don't start craving blood." She commented, half-joking.
"And let's hope M'Benga does not turn into a complete monster." Chapel added as she turned and began to leave.
--- --- ---
"Spock, how long are we gonna have to wait?!" Chapel yelled through the comms as she watched Captain Pike get restrained by some crew-mates as he yelled and cursed at them, no longer knowing who they were.
Hearing a roar from nearby, she looked over in another area, where a monster that resembled Doctor M'Benga banged his hands on the force-shield, trying to escape.
"Almost there!" Spock's voice came through.
"This is crazy" You said softly from beside Erica, who was now restrained in a bed, hands strapped down.
Everyone who had been dressed as a monster, slowly became that monster. All non-human crew members had control of the ship as they attempted one last time to break free of the creatures grasp.
"Y/n, are you still here?" Erica asked with a soft voice.
You knew she could no longer hear you, so you grabbed her hand and squeezed.
Nodding her head softly as she felt your touch, she pressed her head into the bed. She had felt herself losing control over her emotions, nearly becoming violent with Jenna, and had herself restrained.
Not long later, you could no longer be heard by anyone, and could only communicate through touch and moving objects.
Captain Pike had forgotten who he was, and tried to take over the ship. An action that proved fruitless, but he became violent once restrained.
Una showed no sign of human conscious, and ran around the ship in a panic. You now donned a long scratch down your arm from trying to subdue her.
Uhura yelled and screamed at people as she attempted to curse them, smacking many of them with her broom.
Various crew-members were now imprisoned for becoming violent, or, like M'Benga, transformed into another creature all together.
As you felt the ship violently shake, you heard the impulse engines revving up. You closed your eyes as you felt the ship jerk violently as the lights flickered momentarily.
Stumbling, you grabbed onto Erica's bed for stability, seeing her eyes widen as she looked around.
Everything on the ship seemed to go silent, as you saw the fast passing stars outside the ships window. You had successfully warped away from the creature.
"Did it work?" You asked, seeing Erica look over at you.
"I can see you!" She said with a soft voice.
Looking down at your body, you saw your opaque features slowly becoming more solid.
Looking around, you saw M'Benga crouch down, grabbing into his head in pain as the horns on his head fell off with a metallic clank.
Looking over at Chapel, you saw her look at her own hands, smiling, as they were no longer clawed.
You looked down at Erica "How are you feeling?" She thought for a moment before she reached up, and took out her fangs.
She smiled and nodded "Well I don't feel any blood lust anymore."
"I think that's a good sign." You chuckled softly before letting out a sigh "Thank God." You leaned your head on her arm. You shook your head "I'm never dressing up for Halloween ever again."
"I second that."
You looked up at the sound of the Captain voice as he entered the room, ripping off his hat and eye-patch, and looked around with a sigh.
"And I third that!"
Looking around for the source of the voice, you saw a hand pop up from behind a pile of boxed up medical equipment, before Una's head, paired with crooked fake cat ears, popped up into view.
She let out a huff of air in frustration as she groaned and shook her head "Never again."
xx End xx
I hate how this came out, but you got it anyways.
