the worldwide menaces and the golden snubnoses

the eldest members from a family of red-tailed monkeys go on a worldwide trip, leaving Mount Huaguo to experience the world.

In my headcanon of Mount Huaguo, going on journeys (both literal and figurative) are a big part of their culture - since their king did so roughly over a thousand years ago. To them, it seems like an extreme myth or one of legend.

Mount Huaguo knows of the outside world and has a clue of its evolution, it just remains geographically (and a couple other factors) closed off from outsiders. So inhabitants idea of the outside world is definitely a harder one to process.

Naturally, they think that their home is the best; however, they would like a life of legend too. So, the eldest in this red-tailed monkey colony decide to go on a bucket-list journey around the world.

In this piece/shot shows an earlier event in their journey. Encountering and befriending a colony of golden snubnoses in semi-rural China. Tia (light purple hanging onto the tuktuk) manages to irritate and provoke the group. The others in her family could honestly care less since she is their sister/aunt and are used to her behavior, they just forget that not everyone can tolerate her. Eventually, they continue on their journey, bidding farewell to the provoked group who chased after them — in good fun of course!

Still getting the hang of this buuuuut Snub-nosed Monkey Spirit King in LMK!! Since he wasn't included in canon I oc-ified our boy. Basic lore stuff under cut

Those metal rods of his are something he can clang together to make barriers/sound waves that repel gods and gods only. Deities don't count until they're considered gods specifically. MK & his friends would be fine under the sound waves but nezha would not be basically.

His relationship with Wukong is strictly parasocial 😭 With a resentment towards Heaven and having personally witnessed Wukong's struggle and eventual failed attempt to rampage it in his origins, he projected a lot of his feelings onto Wukong and continued trying to find a way to take down heaven while believing it's the only way for either of them to be free and happy.

He was a servant for heaven as part of the punishment for his parents' actions and he grew bitter for it, eventually creating his rods and trying to learn how to fight until he was caught plotting against them. Fighting his way out, Snub Nosed now hides in the underworld as he gathers spirits of monkeys from all forms/realms to be his eventual army. All the while he believes he's doing it in Monkey King's name. He can't fathom Wukong actually caring about anyone "who kept him trapped".
