Hey everyone! I’m helping @momtaku out this month with her poll and she asked me to make the final results post this month while she is away! The poll has closed with 1,212 responses! As expected, a long post is incoming.

Not as loved as last month’s chapter. But this month’s chapter still overall seemed to be favorable among the majority with few people actually disliking it.

Pretty good chapter with great backstory. Only gripe is there should've been some bigger hint of future conflict or teasing at the Walldians invading Marley.

Since the Warriors are my favorite group in this manga, this chapter was a gift sent down from heaven. It gave further enlightenment on the outside world and FINALLY some backstory for my favs. If we switched back to Paradis at this point, I'd be okay with it.

We've had an entire volume focused on Marley. Rate your approval. (1,181 responses)   

Despite many of us being thrown off at the beginning of this volume, it turns out that it grew on us after all!

It provides good insight on the "villain" point of view, making the story more interesting as you sympathize with what you thought were the "bad guys"

I know it's bit controversial but I'm really pleased with this arc. Ive always had I bias for the warriors in general but finally knowing their motivations has just cemented how complex and tragic their characters are.

Overall a slow volume, with a much appreciated info-dump in chapter 93. Mixed feelings on it. Loved chapters 92 and 93, but not sold on 91 and 94. I hope the story picks up pace soon and the Liberio/Rebellio-Eldians soon come face to face with the Walldians.

There were many different replies to this, but the top two were at an almost tie! Seeing Reiner, Bertolt and Annie as kids only barely outweighed Reiner’s account of the 104th Trainee Squad as the most loved part of the chapter.

You know I always loved Warriors. I waited for years to get their flashback and I am really happy and also broken to get it. I get why we didn't get it earlier but still I do wish we'd get it in one of those earlier chapters. It would make much difference in fandom. Other than that, SOMEONE JUST FIND MY CHILDREN. GIVE THEM HUGS AND BLANKETS AND SOME ACTUAL LOVE. THANK YOU.

Although I thought it should have all been referred to sooner in the story, I'm glad that it at least exists. Many have brought up the parallel between Eren and Reiner, I think this chapter properly illustrates just that. I wish we had morr flashbacks like this sprinkled throughout the entire series but I'm overall content that it was relevant to the volume. Also BITTY CHAPTERS ARE PRECIOUS!

I'm a little spooked by the bug squishing scene. I'm a little spooked with how she handled it and how Reiner and Bertholt reacted as well.

Before this chapter, it was nearly a 50/50 split. Some of you loved them already, others did not, and a fair chunk of people were pretty neutral or uncaring either way.

I've always felt sympathetic towards the warriors, and this chapter just reinforced that. And I feel like I have a much better understanding of Reiner's character now.

Most people’s opinions did not change although there are some that have come to sympathize with them more as well as those just happy to see their side of the story.

After seeing how extreme the Marley brainwashing has been and how BRA never seemed consider going against it after seeing how blatantly wrong all of it was, despite acknowledging how wrong it all is, has made me hate them even more

I feel really bad for not liking the Warriors because I know they were doing what they thought was right and it's really not their fault for what happened on Paradis so even seeing their backstory hasn't totally made me love them

Reiner, Bertolt and Falco all shot up in favorability while Annie and Zeke gained small boosts or had no changing perceptions. Gabi, however, had either no change, or has started to be viewed less favorably. 

It was great to see Reiner struggle so much in warrior training, compared to how the soldiers of the 104th looked up to his strength. This chapter really solidified my love for his character.

With only a slight percentage above Annie, Reiner is now the most favorable candidate for side-switching. 

The way things have been set up, I don't see anyone switching sides, but with Zeke and Reiner's hidden agendas and that undercurrent of dissent in the kid warriors, I could see some kind of kindred goal appearing between the Warriors and the Walldians. After all, Zeke seems to want the Coordinate and Eren needs someone of royal blood to work it. Tenuous cooperation might ensue, though how longboard they can last without turning on each other is anyone' and guess.

Mystery man is back! Any thoughts about his identity? (1,171 responses)

By a landslide, the majority believe that Eren is amputee-kun.

If the mystery-man isn't Eren, I'll be shocked! But kind of excited, too, to see who might have been brave enough to infiltrate Marley and actually go through the war with them to keep their cover... Not to mention losing a leg. I still find Eren a more likely choice, of course, because he could keep his leg from regenerating and blend in pretty well, but if it's someone else, that opens up a lot of possibilities too.

It'd be interesting if Eren is this mystery soldier. I wonder what it was like to have to cut his leg off! If it is Eren I really worry for him!!

Is Reiner's dad gonna be important at all? To me the whole scene of Karina talking to little itsy bitsy Reiner seemed to saying, "Pay attention, take notes." Some theories have been floating around that Reiner's an Ackerman? Some say Annie and Reiner are siblings (it would explain why we didn't see Annie's fathers face if he looked like his son?

I feel like the Warrior side of the story isn't done yet and that's fine, but Yams give us something of the Walldians!

I've been fine with the diversion on Paradis because it was good, so to me the switch to that side didn't make me frustrated, so I'm not super frustrated and demanding to go back there immidiately, but I'm still really eager.

Bertolt is such a caring person. I think it helps the fact that the second season of the anime concentrates on them. Reiner must be feeling many contrasig seniments, he seems broke inside. Annie.. it's always so misterious, but I like her way of behaving, so distant from everything.

Really good chapter. It did it's job in showing how truly messed in the head all these children because after living in fear and propaganda for the majority of their lives.

Loved the diversity in the new characters. Riener is so torn mentally & emotionally. I believe few more pages on the warrior are still needed before getting back to Paradise. I sense a glimpse of hope in escaping a doomed end. somebody will live & achieve freedom. who? hard to tell.

Everybody has different opinions about the plot, but I do not think anyone can argue about the art. Love this manga. Want to see Levi again!

I never imagined I could love these characters even more. Now I do. Bravo Isayama-sensei, I never felt so hyped for this chapter for the longest time!

My interest in the manga is reaching an all time low with this focus on Marley. And it looks like we'll still be there next month. I'm so done.

I haven't minded these recent chapters, but I haven't felt like I enjoyed them since its a virtually unknown cast. I did however enjoy chapter 93!

I am loving these chapters. I know they're not everyone's favorites - not by a longshot - but I am so happy to have focus on Reiner and the warriors. The viewpoint from Marley is greatly expanding the scope of the world in SNK, and giving us some much needed backstory. Also, I love the interaction of the warrior cadets with the shifters, and it gives us important insight into how RBAM were prior to becoming shifters, and also helps explain their motivation.

I’m combining these two questions since it’s the sum of both that gives us the answer. Clearly there was a lot to love in this chapter, but news about our main cast was cited most frequently as favorite.  Learning that Eren and Armin have been smashing Marley ships and discovering that the Ackermans were a"byproduct of titan science” were our #1 and #2 favorite chapter moments. 

I think these topping the list tells a lot about where our heart are. While the story is interesting, we are desperate for any news of Paradis. 

Meeting Pieck and Galliard was #3. For write-in entries, moments with Reiner were the most common including: Reiner being a big brother, Reiner being alive, Reiner being hot , Reiner dialog with Falco, Reiner growing a spine, Reiner’s PTSD and Seeing the "real" Reiner.

A combination of the Ackermans and Eren/Armin's ship smashing - even if temporary, watching the main characters being set up as mysterious, daunting figures (even to the audience who have gotten to know these characters so thoroughly) is a very interesting approach to starting this new arc. It's probably one of the reasons I don't mind the time skip very much.

After this chapter, if I have to choose side, I'll choose Mads Mikklesen (Hannibal) side better; coz with him, at least he can cook with anything flawlessly, artistically and deliciously.  I don't know if "join the survey corps" is exactly accurate, but I do think she will aid them (mainly because I don't see narrative options for who could take her titan--presumably it would be a woman, it won't be Historia, Sasha or Hange wouldn't make much sense, and Mikasa's whole arc is about learning to live even if she loses her loved ones so I don't see her getting this way out of that.).

Wow, the question about returning to the original cast has me divided. Of course I want to see them again, but... BOI, what a chapter this has been. So much information given in such a natural way (unlike 91's f***ing convenient amnesia). Reiner's mental state and what's going on in his head is also enough to make me interested in more Marley episodes. It's natural people want to go back to Paradis, though, it's been more than half a year without seeing much of the original cast.

Stick with the new guys! I really want to see more of them. I trust Isayama can pull this off.

Please god, no more Levi Man Pain hour.  Give me more of this sweet warrior development and shades of grey.  Many chapters without Levi continue to be good chapters.

I like the idea of a full Marley volume. I think that by the end of it we will meet up with the Paradis crew again.

Colt's comment about being honored to have been there while Zeke spoke his mind reminded me of Marco and his motivation for wanting to join the MPs for some reason. I can't unsee this comparison now.

I found it interesting that not only does Zeke have the trust of the Marley government but we also saw another hint that he has a secret agenda. Reiner being protective of the kids was heart-warming! A little more info about the Ackermans being a result of Titan blood science made my inner scientist go beserk with joy! At last we were introduced to Galliard and Pieck in human form.

Lost all faith in Isayama's writing skills after killing Ymir like that...like stop with the years of character development if you will throw it away like that, with just one panel of her sad gay freckled face. Also Mikasa and Levi going captain america yo! nice

I am intrigued by the fact that Marley's titans are beginning to become less powerful in the face of more advanced technology and I'm interested in seeing where the story goes from there.

I would love to free the shifters from the curse. Reiner deserves better, Ymir should be alive... Oh, and I love Colt's drunk side. Hannes would be proud.

I can't help but feel uneasy about the transfer of Marley's Titan Powers. There's been too much time put into these new warriors. They have to play some part in this story, but having Reiner get killed off by just handing over his life, after all this shit he's been through and all the unfinished business he has with the main cast doesn't feel right. I don't want Reiner to go out quietly.

I love this "outside world" arc, we learned a lot of stuff. It's also a hot mess currently, but that's what the series have been and that's why I fucking love it. Not everyone might be a fan of the shifting (hhehe) point of view, but I love how this portrays them as a "good" side, with Paradise being the "bad" side. Like there is no cliche of just black and white, but a hell lot of greys. It reminds me of when Bertholdt screamed "Who do you think actually wants to kill people!?" and "Someone will have to stain their hands with blood!" I'm getting the feeling that Isayama is building up characterization for these new characters, make us care for them (to be honest, I hope they get enough screentime for that), and sympathize them later on. Heck, we'd probably feel bad for them too when all hell breaks loose, and we readers will probably feel conflicted on who to root for. I can see that happening.

I like the Warriors a lot more than I thought I would, and even though I'm dying to get back to the main crew I’ve really enjoyed these chapters and am surprised by how much these new guys are growing on me. I think the pacing will feel a lot better on a reread, it's just hard when you read it monthly.

Reiner, you better get some goddamn agency and protect your pack of children. It may be too late for you, but they can still make it out of this!

This chapter bored me to death. I mean, I understand that this chapter was full of important information and is a pre cooking for the real cooking show but I just couldn't enjoy it. The last 2 chapters have been exhausting to read to the point that it's physically painful. I know a lot of people already loves Gabi and Falco and I know I'm gonna get so much hate for this, but I just couldn't bring myself to get invested or even so much as to like them as I have with the original characters. I mean, I do sympathize them for what they go through and I'm glad we see that because now I have a better grasp of how RBA's childhood was like but everytime they were on, or just the entirety of the last 2 chapters I've been looking for Armin, Eren, Mikasa, Sasha, Jean... And especially since Ymir died this chapter, I felt empty of her death like, I wasn't satisfied of it. I wasn't even convinced. It was like when RB said they were the CT and AT but that was exciting and this was.. heartbreaking. Long story short, this chapter and the previous chapter made me not want to read snk...

I got hyped again! This chapter was by all means, I won't say better or more important, because a story naturally needs descriptive parts like 91 & 92, but more enjoyable. This mainly is due to it building connections between the two sides we have seen in the rest of the series, for example with the Ackermans being revealed as a subproduct of titan science, thus creating suspense. The plot itself, standing still in 91 & 92, starts to  move on at least a bit, and indicates a lot of progression for next chapters as well as creating a foundation for new theories and headcanons about the snk world. I personally suspect that, since the Ackermans were supporting the Eldians way before Marley oppressed them and established a titan science program, titan science, a result being the Ackermans, was practiced in Eldia as well. This could mean that Ymir Fritz's encounter with the devil was actually a metaphoric paraphrasing of a scientific breakthrough, which will lead to us hopefully getting a more realistic description of how the titans were created. But back to the chapter. Character wise, I began to sympathize with the warrior kids a lot more as they gained more depth, and Reiner made my heart break in even more pieces than last month. I just feel so sorry for him! But fortunately, Pieck could fix the damage with her beauty. I don't really like Galliard that much but maybe that'll change...let's see! As for Ymir, I sure felt sorry for her, but even though I truly adore her character and look up to her a lot, I didn't really feel that bad about her dying, unlike the majority of the Tumblr community. But that's not because I don't want her to be happy or anything, it's just that Snk is and stays a dark fantasy and drama series where death is a totally normal thing. I actually wouldn't like it if everyone just magically survived, because the story would feel less real and mature to me. And I think that she's got way more character closure than some others, and last but not least we still have her memories. So all in all, this has been a great chapter, I got all my hopes back for the final arc and I can't wait for June to arrive.  (This is like waaaaay to long for a poll comment but well....)

I only got back into attack on titan back this past November after dropping it for other interests after season 1 and kind of forgetting it. Truthfully I’m so exhausted of all the fighting and pissing matches. I only have one person I’m able to talk about the series pleasantly with but damn do we get lonely. I’m terrified of stepping into the communities being someone who honestly somewhat enjoyed and accepted the ending. I’m seriously lost (no pun intended) and just wish I could find people told hold hands with where we can all go “That series was great!” but it feels near impossible. This is honestly just a silly ask but have you ever had this feeling? Being fandom shy, for lack of a better term?

I can definitely understand where you’re coming from Anon. Trying to find your own niche in any fandom can be really difficult, especially when there’s a lot of negativity and drama flying around, and particularly when emotions are running high at the end of a long running series. The good news is that you’re not alone in enjoying the ending of SnK. If you look at the results of the chapter 139 poll, you’ll see that a whopping 5,675 people rated the final chapter either 4 or 5 out of 5.  Also I think it’s fair to say that although a lot of people have been critical of the execution of the final chapter, it hasn’t necessarily diminished their enjoyment of the series as a whole. I was listening in to the live chapter 139 @youhearbiggirls podcast last night, and although there was a lot of, in my opinion, valid criticism of the chapter, there was also a huge amount of love and appreciation for the series because it’s brought so much joy, creativity and friendship to everyone’s lives.

Having said that, I do appreciate that constant ship wars and negativity can be really draining, and the only thing I can suggest is to make frequent and extensive use of the block button to screen it out.  I enjoy reading critical reactions to the series, but I have no time for people who moan about it endlessly or who shit on the author. I’d far rather follow two or three blogs that post content that chimes with my own view of the SnK world, rather than hundreds that post content that I’m either not interested in or that drag the whole series down.  In terms of how to find like-minded fans, don’t be afraid to reach out to people whose thoughts or opinions interest you, most fans are pretty friendly and happy to chat if they have the time.  I don’t know if you’re a shipper, I’m guessing that if you follow my blog you have at least a passing interest in Eruri, so getting involved in ship weeks and challenges is another good way to meet people.  Also don’t limit your activity to just one platform.  The days of closed fandom communities are (sadly) gone, so try following the fandom across different platforms.  Tumblr is still the main place I discuss the series, but I also hang out on Twitter, where there’s a really active Eruri community, and on Discord where I’m on a couple of small servers with a few friends.  Good luck finding a niche in the fandom that you’re comfortable in Anon and feel free to drop by here any time.

SnK Chapter 130: My personal thoughts (SPOILERS)

This chapter was wild - and not surprising at the same time 👀.

- As expected, Annie would break down when finding out about Odiha plan and her father's possible death. It was nice seeing this desperate, emotional side of her since she barely shows it

- Snk-polls' judgement "Annie becoming human" is trash. Annie has been human before

- Annie says she wants to leave, but I'm sure she won't, would be a waste of character after being gone for so long. I think she is either gonna change her mind or (more probable) someone is gonna convince her to stay

- Seems like we won't get Annie vs. Mikasa fight

- Now let's switch to Eren POV. I don't even know where to start... I understood it as almost all (future) flashbacks in this chapter happened when Eren kissed Historia's hand

- All the memories on page 6 are very significant. I think Grisha looking wtf on page 6 is pretty much the moment of the final panel. Dude has the same hair and shirt

- Page 7 could be a tumblr post alone... Eren implies he all wanted this, which is really important to keep in mind!

- Almost all memories on page 7 are future memories in S3 Eren's POV. I don't know how Eren saw Falco. However, I want to focus on the tiny Bertholdt panel on the right which seems to be a past memory:

- It's Bert from Dina's POV as she ignores him to enter Shiganshina immediately (Chapter 96). Why the heck does Eren see this memory?

- There is the theory Eren controlled Dina to ignore Bert and to head directly to his house to kill Carla. To trigger his motivation and the whole plot ("I wanted this all"). By that, it would be a future memory again because he'd manipulate it in the future

- I believe this is absolutely possible. Eren forced Grisha to kill innocent children after all. And even if he loves his mom, I think he is definitely capable of killing her if it serves his grand goal. I wouldn't be surprised if he also manipulated more events

- Imo the story would already be great without this plot twist (if it's true), but if people need it to understand Eren's character I support the theory

- Eren's toxic understanding of freedom is the most important thing to him. He cares about his friends, yes, but freedom is more important. That's why I think he mainly does the rumbling for his philosophy, not for his friends ("I wanted all this")

- This whole chapter was about Eren dehumanising which supports the last point. Calling his enemies "animals" was a peak (No, it was NOT a mistranslation)

- The last pages of kid Eren wanting to destroy titans and adult Eren wanting to destroy the "animals" was a nice parallel which also supports Eren dehumanising. Is dehumanising the right word after all? He was like this all along, "born this way" 🤔

- Since he first claimed to sympathise with his enemies and now calling them animals, I wouldn't be surprised if he'll change his mind about his friends and Eldians either. It would be wtf af if he wanted to eventually kill them either in order to end the cycle of hatred (because Eldians still fight each other). That would be a total peak of Eren dehumanising and I would love that plot twist. Just a wild guess

- Now let's turn to the Hisu flashbacks. I made a whole post about that alone. To summarise it:

- Imo the arrangement of Hisu flashbacks are not in the right chronological order, they are also interrupted by other flashbacks

- I think the last Hisu flashback of the chapter (which fitted perfectly to the Zeke scene THEME-WISE) is chronologically the first moment of the EH scene. So it would be like:

1) Well Eren, what do you think about me having a baby? (follow up of 107 when Kiyomi presented the 50 years plan)

2) This leads to the 50 years plan and MPs talk between Eren and Historia

3) Eren says he doesn't like it and tells her his alternative plan and it stops at Hisu's reaction after "You're the worst"

- This makes much more sense imo, Hisu wouldn't suggest a baby right after this manipulating line of Eren (Yes, I think it's disgusting manipulation, he twisted her words she said back in the cave scene) she first has to emotionally collect herself before proposing something like that out of nowhere

- E + H = Y is still the biggest bs this fandom has ever produced imo

- Hisu is obviously manipulated by Eren, it reminds me of Ymir being manipulated by the first King and her environment. Hisu not exposing Eren's genocide plan has the same reason why Ymir never rebelled against her trash husband, although it destroyed her. This kind of manipulation happens a lot in real life too

- Yes, I still think Historia is against genocide. And I believe she HAS a good heart, she is NOT an evil bitch. Her official stats say Altruism 10/10 after all

- However, even if Eren manipulated her, he still cares for her (though his freedom philosophy is more important again)

- We learn this when love Guru Zeke tells him Mikasa's protectiveness is the result of love, not nonexistent Ackerbond (112 You fcking liar Eren!) and Eren thinks about Historia while Zeke talks about Mikasa

- He notices he is also protective of Historia and might like her in whatever way (He didn't notice before, Zeke just made it clear to him, so another reason why Eren is not the father, especially not in a romantic way)

- Adding the baby flashback during Zeke talk about protecting was perfect theme-wise because Eren wants to protect Historia especially FROM getting pregnant by force as he stated it many times before

- Eren says he has only 4 more years to live, implying he is not interested in a relationship or family. This is another big point why Eren is not the father and I already mentioned that point in November

- Everyone says this chapter confirmed Eren is the hooded figure, but for me it was the confirmation he was not. I don't understand how people constantly miss those points:

- Eren's jacket is FULLY inked, the HF's jacket is not. It's a completely different jacket

- Why would Eren hood himself in the first place at Hisu's farm? He's been there many times before, was never hooded, nor is he hooded in 130

- Furthermore they are outside where everyone can spot them and Eren was not even hooded. It doesn't make fcking sense!

- People literally call me "high" for this take and of course I might be wrong but yes, I still think the hodded figure is Levi

Hello there! *inserts obi-wan* I might be late but I noticed something extremely fascinating with SNK. On top of destroying the many cliches of typical shonen mangas, most of it's canon or supposed canon relationships are queer. It also embraces androginy. Were you surprised to see that in a manga ? Especially one that started in 2009 when most of these things were not popular or well know to the masses. ( At least in my view, it really started to blow up in the mid-2010's.)

The impression I’ve gotten with the entire series is Isayama has approached it with a mood of, “I’mma do this.” Then he does the thing. Maybe gracelessly, maybe with panels drawn so box-shaped that when they stop being nothing but boxes it’s worthy of note, but so the domino is shoved, and we end up with shenanigans approaching plot.

Nothing in the manga really follows an executive formula. Romance is limited to making fun of Jean or being an active character motivation that gets small children onto planes in pairs. Fanservice isn’t a thing in the ways anime grooms you to expect. There’s far more gender diversity than typical (read: it arguably exists).

All of that was really refreshing in 2013, and it’s still not something that you can go into most shounen anime expecting. As uncharitable as I currently feel towards parts of the manga, the fact that Ymir and Historia get to be love interests in the midst of being horribly damaged people still means a lot to me, and the class of portrayal is leagues above what we usually get. Isayama fully embracing Hange’s androgyny and canonizing it is also the kind of thing that a twitter poll would dub least likely to happen as a result of someone calling an artist’s work confusing.

So yeah. Surprises everywhere. Good surprises.

I don’t read interviews, or... you know, pay attention, but as furious I am about Things, I feel like Isayama has produced a work with a lot more nods to social equality than most shounen offers. There’s a good faith effort in not simply embracing the heteronormative. For something this popular, that’s extraordinary.

Not to say there aren’t issues, but in many ways, it’s a step in great directions, and I really hope that the works it inspires in the future see that through all the cannibalism.

What I loved about this chapter is that this was the first time I REALLY felt the suspense, the kind of suspense where it looks our heroes can not win the fight and all hope is lost. It was a very similar feeling I experienced in the first chapters of Attack on Titan where the fight against Pure Titans always felt like the enemy had the upper hand and our heroes were fighting a losing battle that they could only fight to mitigate the losses as low as possible

This chapter was filled with lore, action and great individual character moments but seeing the fantastical forms of titans past brought into the fight was our favorite moment with 31.4% of the total. “Mikasa carrying the whole damn team” was second with 24.7%. The arrival of the flying titan (10.6%), the vision of Bertholt Hoover (10%) and Pieck rushing forward with the bombs (6.9%) round out the top five.

It’s Mikasa nation domination with 52.4% of the vote. There were a lot of great character moments but it’s hard to beat the one who stopped the manga ending prematurely! There was also appreciation for Ymir (12.8%) who brought in some interesting Titan designs and a great fight. 11.8% gave the nod to Falco for swooping in for the last minute save. 6.3% were hyped for Pieck’s no-nonsense charge, and 4.1% liked seeing Levi push himself in battle despite needing another couple of months in bed.

Ymir apparently freeing the pigs was an unexpected opening for the chapter. For 34.4%  this action meant that Ymir has always been #TeamFreedom. A sizable 18.8% think this relatively minor reveal makes her way more suspicious. Closely following that, 18% think it means nothing at all. It’s just a cool detail that resolved a mystery.

When back in 122 everyone was foaming about tHe FuCkInG pIgS, I was rolling my eyes so hard, because to me the pigs were insignificant: it does not matter who set them free, they might have just run away on their own, what matters is that Ymir is the one they blame, which started the whole story. NOW, huh, the pigs might be important, or at least it really might have been Ymir who let them go, set them free. She couldn't get free herself, so she granted freedom to the poor animals.

It’s close, but the most popular option is that Ymir is recalling that the last time she prioritised the idea of freedom the suffering was not worth it (29.9%), followed by the assertion there’s no deeper meaning (22.3%). Armin notes that Ymir seems to be the one in control of the titans, why is this?  The large majority at 54.5% believe her to be working side by side with Eren.  About ¼, at 24.8% think she’s stepping in for Eren while she’s unconscious, while the minority at 20.7% think she’s overpowered Eren and is the real big bad of the story.

If she really wants the whole humanity to perish, then it means she lost all hope in humanity and is like an empty shell who has never experienced any drop of love. I feel that Ymir doesn't really care about protecting or helping Eren. She just wants to see an empty world - without humans.

The chapter was really well drawn. Also I see lots of new possibilities to happen, as Eren being a slave, Ymir perhaps becoming the final villain. it also makes to recall back to chapter 1 when I see Eren crying in front of Mikasa after some sort of "dream". This makes me think that Eren will eventually come to regret his actions but it's gonna be too late. thus he receives this dream but he is never able to see it through. Quite a sad fate. Although that's just a speculation on my part.

The most popular design in Isayama’s titan showcase by a decent margin was the “Faceless Titan” (45.8%), with “The Thing Titan” coming in second (34.4%). In third was the “Minotaur Titan” (32.4%) and narrowly in fourth, the “Mummified Titan” (31.3%). Interestingly, 2/4 of the top designs appear to be previous Warhammer Titans, which is fitting with it being one of the most popular titan designs. Well, except for the one we saw in Ymir’s backstory that had hair. We all agreed that thing was atrocious.

There's a lot of titans missing, so I'll say here that I love the dinosaur titan, the bearded titan and the ghost-like titan as well.

always wanted to see ancient titan designs since learning about the inheritance and such, so this is a dream come true for a fanartist

Previously, it was left to our imagination what all these past Titan Shifters looked like, but thanks to this chapter (through the power of PATHS!), we got to see many of them for ourselves. A nice treat from Isayama, but also a mind-blowing one, especially with how they intervened in the fight.

Seeing all these past Titan Shifters appear like that was so interesting to me that it  made me analyze each one and try to identify which was an old Jaw Titan, an old Beast Titan, an old Cart Titan, an old Warhammer Titan, and so on, so this chapter also felt like a fun guessing game in that regard!

Adding animals to the mix just feels like a try hard to make them scary. If he wanted them to have some real crazy powers it could've been done better imo, having these many animals just thrown around didn't make sense to me, we already got the beast titan and that bird titan. It's enough animals for me, especially since initially what made titans so scary in the first place was how identical they are to humans, only differing in their mounstrous size.

I never liked the idea of animal titans, it just feels so weird and out of place with no explanation for why or how they are animal-like. That being said, some of the other titan designs were pretty rad.

I believe Freckeld Ymir's Jaw Titan is shown when Bertholdt's Colossal Titan attempts to eat Reiner. It's very small though so it's hardly noticeable and I can't even confirm that it was indeed her Titan but it seemed like it.

Ymir summoned titans of the past according to Pieck, does that mean Zeke is of the past now too?  The fandom is overall undecided on this one, as about half don’t know, at 48.5%.  32.7% are confident Zeke is still around, and 18.8% take this as confirmation of his death.

Zeke may not be dead, because the beast titan summoned last chapter could be Xavier's beast titan too. Because in one earlier Marley arc chapter, someone mentioned that "The beast titan is the same as ever". Meaning, Xavier's beast titan was also monke.

IF Zeke is alive, it means that Pieck is once again somehow "faking" her defeat and goes for the detonator but then she somehow runs into Zeke. They have a lot of history and too much stuff unresolved between them and because of eren/armin and zeke/pieck dynamics is that those 2 stayed on the founding titan..

I think Zeke and Bertolt are both stuck in paths, unable to properly die. I hope Zeke is just shackled making titans like we saw him in 120. As they watch it blow up the body keeps moving for eren was not there to begin with.

Him seeing Bertolt for the second time makes me think these two are going to switch places at some point. That being said it's not the end-end for Armin, and Eren is definitely reserving him a seat in whatever path underground there is.

Bertolt's individual "soul" still exists as a singular entity, that lives within Paths. Armin as his inheritor has a soul-link to him, can see him, recall his memories and even feel some of his feelings. However his presence here will serve for Armin to make some kind of realisation that will help conclude the battle.

Isayama loves himself some throwbacks and this chapter was no exception.  Mikasa giving a speech reminiscent of her Trost speech was the most popular option at 32.9%, with Armin dreaming of Bertolt crying similar to his dream of the Colossal Titan was a close second at 28.2%.  Rounding out the top three was Falco taking a bird form in parallel with the Fort Slava scene we just saw in the anime.

I'm completely sold on the idea of past shifters being summoned. Some people may say it's quite an asspull, but honestly, I've had a little problem with this series, which is that the Coordinate has been teased as the power of God itself but we've never seen that in action, so I'm satisfied. I'm not a big fan of the flying titan (teasing things is not the same as justifiying things) and the lack of character deaths made me think Hanji could have died this chapter, which would've been more meaningful honestly. Still, I'm very happy to say Isayama has surprised me once again.

If ymir creates the bodies of titan shifters, why did she give falco a bird form if she wants to stop them? Not saying it's a plot hole yet, but I hope there's a reason for it.

The title reminds me of the chinese saying of “天人交戰” which literally translates as battle between the heaven and human but means ones inner struggle. Maybe it is referring to eren’s inner struggle of wanting freedom and having to kill everything standing between him and freedom. Idk.

A lot of people have been trying to make sense why we're learning about Ymir freeing the pigs here of all places, but rather than it being evidence that she's some evil mastermind I think it's a representation of how devastating this cycle of hatred has been. In that first scene we see Ymir as a kind and empathetic girl who decides that though she can't free herself, she can still help these simple animals who she saw earlier also wanted to escape. But in the present, after suffering greatly for her kindness and being forced into servitude that lasted for countless years and even into death, we see Ymir not just as willing to commit a brutal omnicide on the rest of the world but as someone who is seemingly enslaving others in the pursuit of that goal - in many ways, she might be repeating the same crimes that were done to her by King Fritz.

After seeing the first episode of the new anime season and how well Mappa delivered on that, I cannot *wait* to see the crazy battle action of this chapter animated.

I'm a fan of how fucking OP Eren and Ancestor Ymir, which is honestly how it should be. I never expected The Alliance to stand a chance, and they all got fucking wrecked. I'm completely surprised nobody died, I feel like that'll be changed next chapter, though; unfortunately. My main question is: What the fuck do The Alliance plan to do next without Armin and Pieck? Also, seeing the past shifters was fucking amazing and I didn't expect that shit.

Decent chapter. I gave it a 3/5, because it was a purely action, set-up chapter with not so great action scenes, at least compared to other great fight scenes in the series. Still, we got quite a few nice panels and interesting powers, so i will be looking foreard to the payoff.

I'm blown away

I'm honestly shocked at how incredible this story has become. Much like Bertholt I feel like I'm fine with whatever happens, because this whole journey and the world are incredibly cruel. And that does not make it bad by any means, it makes it more meaningful.

I'm not a huge fan of the fight scenes so I'd just like to see a satisfying climax and conclusion to the fight soon. Looking forward to Levi killing Zeke and all the reunions.

It was an interesting chapter. It really works well if you think about it. Regular humans who are humanity's last hope, the strongest soldiers left are against two literal gods. Of course it will not be easy at all, Ymir summoning all those titans and everyone nearly dying multiple times is proof that you cannot defeat such gods that easily. Very excited for the next chapter to see how everything else plays out.

Maybe Anni can use her female titan powers and attract all of the former titan shifters - so that Mikasa detonates the Bombs.

Mikasa deserves a fuckn BREAK. like God she saw her family get butchered TWICE, first by humans, then by titans and now fckn Eren took away the one family she was desperately trying to protect. If anyone should've gone crazy like Eren it's mikasa. She does seem to be at her wit's end and ready to go above and beyond after saving everyone in this chapter and seeing the harm Ymir/Eren is causing. I thought it was very good. Not peak AOT but great! There was to many saves before death , reminded me of bleach. Seeing the old Titans was really cool and the action was great also.

I was really excited to hear we were getting more bertholdt

I was vey hyped because of this chapter and it delivered. During all the chapter i was like "someone's gonna die someone's gonna die" and when Berthold's titan appears and eats reiner's titan I screamed, but that son of a bitch is inmortal hahah.

It gives the idea of how powerful that titan god is, i think it lives up to Rod's description of titam god and how powerful it felt during Ymir's backstory (her form)

It got really hype when all the past shifters came over but Pieck’s bomb failing could be seen a mile away. Over amazing with some nice moments.

it is really, life and death situation. still, looking forward to this especially the ending. how will aot end? surely, it will be a legacy. a great masterpiece made by isayama-sensei.

It was amazing! I'd say this could be one of the best chapters written! So much action went on to the point where I hope MAPPA has a decent sized budget to animate it all. I'm really eager to see what the next chapter has in store. The main thing I'm looking forward to that wasn't listed here is basically what will happen to Levi. Is he going to survive through all this, or is he going to succumb to his wounds? Is he going to pair up with Zeke to take down Eren? Or is he going to stay on the "sidelines" untill the war is over?

It was fun, but somewhat inconsequential aside from Falco

Levi is almost certainly dead/dying

Levi might be a ‘slave’ to being a hero but he’s a victim of his own popularity which is preventing Isayama from killing him off. We know he’s not gonna fulfill his promise to Erwin because Levi never gets what he really wants, surprise surprise. But if he keeps getting injured and left out of action he’ll live the rest of his life with nothing but regrets.

man the titan battles were great, seeing all the previous titans fight was pretty awesome seeing the hopelessness form the alliance really showed the reality of it all, now they lost 2 additional titans leaving Eren with 6 and the alliance down to 3

That being said that Annie scene was pretty cringe. I expected that, but it was so cliché it's ridiculous.

Pretty good. As much as I want the Alliance to win in the end, their utter defeat this chapter felt more realistic, than if they managed to actually do anything.

Really liked Jean and Reiners moments this chapter, overall a good chapter that flew by. Hope quickly turned into desperation but Falcons teams arrival means they got one more chance. Armin capture thing was a little weird but more or less makes sense.

Since the rumbling started, this series has became more dull and predictable. Loads of plot armor, stupid teosts only for shock value and weird pacing are major problems in this arc. Too bad, because the post timeskip portion of this manga up until  the rumbling was one of the best pieces of media I had seen. But now I am only expecting the boring  cliche shonen ending.

Still hate Annie being back, she can still go.

Still think Mikasa is gonna be the one to either kill Eren or bring him back to his senses somehow

There are still some mysteries to solve and things to do (like EMA final convo, which I don't think will last just 2 or 3 pages) in so little time, I'm kinda worried to be honest.

This chapter is full of plot twists, I didn't even expect the storyline to turn out like this.

This chapter was actually exciting! And thank goodness Bertolt is finally back!!!!! So many people assumed he was finished and forgotten, but a small group of us knew Isayama wouldn't leave us hanging without his closure. I'm looking forward to learning why we're seeing him now and whatever's going to happen to Armin

This chapter was breathtaking and hard to continue due to the speculations that someone was going to die. I feel like the next few chapters is where things start to get serious if not already. I found it very enjoyable yet nervous at some moments.

This was so crazy and hopeless like it's peak apocalypse even more than rumbling. It's a nightmare I love Isayama

Results of the 139 chapter poll still hasn't been revealed. Not sure if the snk poll team forgot about it or the poll will be open for the future generations? Also, I found that many people have changed their opinion about the last chapter after reading the latest pages. So maybe a new poll should be started?

I promise we didn’t forget. It’s more an issue that the write in doc was 1300 pages and the person working on the one word description and charts has been swamped at university. 

We’re almost done. Hopefully this weekend.
