My favourite thing about falling back into the Snape fandom is that everything is prefixed with “sn”. It’s like the old sneple (snail people) meme, but like. idk. both less ironic and more ironic at the same time? Equally a way of distinctly claiming we’re part of the fandom, and ridiculous. It’s great. I love it.

What’s Next For Steven Universe?

I see a lot of people wondering where SU can go from here. What happened to Pink Diamond has been a central part of the show for years, I can understand why fans are thinking that the crew have written themselves into a corner.

But fret not, we still have plenty to cover, though I do think the show is wrapping up in the next year or two.

Now, immediately next, we’re going to get the reactions of the crystal gems and the other main characters. If you’ve seen my post on why rq=pd makes narrative sense, you’ll know that I see Steven universe as a coming of age story and that rose quartz not being real is a very important part of that.

The way I think they’ll do it is, at first, Steven will try to ignore how this revelation makes him feel in favour of comforting the other gems. Steven’s the sort of person to put others first and ignore himself but I think he will begin to resent having to do that and he’ll lash out in anger. I’m hoping this will result in a several episode arch where Steven just goes off on his own to figure out who he is now, without looking at himself through the lens of his mother.

One thing I really, really want is for Steven to have a conversation with someone that goes something like this:

        Steven: I’ve always wanted to be like her, I’ve always thought she was so good. Now I know that she wasn’t, not really.         Someone (probably Pearl): Steven your mother made many mistakes that hurt a lot of people, but she always tried to be good. It was just... hard sometimes. Steven, she didn’t want you to be like her, she wanted you to be better than her. You’re everything she wanted to be but couldn’t manage.

Short fan fic aside, I think the rest of season 5 will focus on Steven accepting that Pink was his mother and that she was deeply flawed and that he doesn’t have to be just like her. I think it will also deal with Yellow and Blue Diamond and finally, finally finish Lapis’ character arch.

Post season 5, things get a bit more cloudy. We know for sure that White diamond is going to come in to the picture. My guess is she’ll be necessary for the reversal of the corruption and she’ll either be missing, off fighting sneple, or unwilling to help. I think beyond season 5 will focus on Steven becoming a leader and finishing his coming of age journey.

Naga AU Preview!

"SNEPLE ARE REAL, I'M NOT CRAZY!" A voice shouted in the library as someone burst in, they were immediately shushed by the people working there. Peridot rolled her eyes, this again. Some guy kept coming in to talk about his insane conspiracy theories about 'sneple', otherwise known as 'Snake People'. Of course, being the brilliant girl she was, Peridot didn't believe in such fairy tales. They didn't exist, they might have hundreds of years ago, but none had been SEEN since hundreds of years ago. He probably just saw some doctored photo that someone made with their pet snake.

She pulled out her phone and texted her older sister.

Peridot: He's back. Apparently this time the Sneple are really real and he's not crazy.

Amethyst: What "evidence" did he find? Snakeskin near a path in the woods or a snake he swears winked at him?

Peridot: Hang on, I'm listening.

The boy ranted to his friend, another guy with odd pink hair who looked bored and tired. "I'm telling you Lars, she has one, no, TWO of them tamed and everything. She says we can only see them at night though, that's when they perform. I swear they're the real deal, I heard something behind her dragging on the ground, just like a snake would slither. Come on Lars, you can bring your girlfriend Emmy, she likes snakes doesn't she?"

Lars sighed and shrugged. "Sure I guess, I mean, she has a pet one so she obviously likes them." He said thoughtfully, "Yeah, I guess Emerald would find Snake People-"

"Sneple."

"... Sneple, pretty cool."

The curly haired guy grinned. "Oh thanks buddy, it's only 10 dollars to get in, but seats are really limited, because the Sneple get shy I think..."

Peridot stopped listening, put her earphones back in her ears and went back to texting her sister.

Peridot: Apparently this woman has two as like... Her pets or something.

Amethyst: Ew!

Peridot: Anyway, it's like some kind of preformance with them. Sounds KINDA cheesy but do you want to go for a quick laugh? It's tonight, ONLY at night and it's only 10 dollars, how authentic can it be?

Amethyst: Ooh! I'm so bringing Agate she'll love it! Maybe we should invite Jasper, she loves laughing at all that crappy fake stuff!

Peridot: Okay, let's go see these "Sneple" and see just how "real" they are!

Amethyst: This is gonna be funny as hell, can't wait to see some "real Snake People"!

Dry canyoning in Israel, near Dead sea, Judea desert. סנפלינג בקניונים באזור הים המלח, במדבר יהודה. ענף תיירות אתגרי עם פוטנציאל גדול. Сухой каньонинг в районе Мертвого моря, да у нас 90% таких мест в районе ММ, есть еще немного на севере и на самом юге у Эйлата, но большая часть каньонов находится в крутых обрывах между плато Иудейской пустыни и разломом Мертвого моря. Сезонные ручьи промывали тут тысячилетиями узкие каньоны, широкие ущелья. Есть те которые в сезон дождей наполняются мутноватой от взвеси водой, есть те которые сухие всегда...кроме тех пару часов когда грохочет наводнение и по каньону несётся грязе-селевой поток, унося все это в Мертвое море.
