Light spoilers for the dlc Some of Messmer's knights abandoned him and betrayed him for being a snek boi (literally) i wonder who is his other parent, since we are certain his mother is Marika so he might be the result of Marika getting freaky with the GEQ or some serpent god. Actually it would be so hilarious and cool if messmer was born from marika in the same way Athena was born from Zeus

As I mentioned before I don't really care who is his other parent is (sorry Messmer's other parent... if you even exist 🤣 i think since he has the same butterfly motif, he should be a child solely coming from just Marika herself, like Miquella and Malenia... i need that trio so bad...), but the detail about his soldier turning on him makes me wonder if the snakes being seen as traitor to the Erdtree is something out of Marika's control. HEAR ME OUT.

I'm having this whacky idea that the Greater Will is troubled by Messmer's power and his devotion to only Marika, and not them. Plus they view Marika's affection towards him as a sign of weakness unbefitting a God (*stare at Goldmask's remark about Marika*), so they declare snakes as traitor to separate him from his mother. Marika had no choice but to send him to Land of Shadow to protect him (explain why it's stated that he fled from the Erdtree)... and he carried on fighting for her despite everything.

That would also explain why after Messmer Marika tried to distance herself from her later children, as evidently her love could become their death sentence .... or well that's where my delulu led me 🥲🥲

(that being said... if his other parent is the GEQ i think i'll be VERY invested indeed lmaooo Marika breaking hearts left and right like a normal sunday)

Lore Drop!

Bill was found abandoned in the desert by our version of Ho-oh when he was just a baby. She raised him like he was her own, but unfortunately things between them fell apart and Bill ended up being a total menace- He would terrorize smaller and weaker pokemon, destroying their villages, stealing their food, nasty stuff.

Ho-oh could do nothing to stop him- couldn't bear to face off against her estranged son. The Bird Trio tried to step up to the plate, but were no match for Bill's might.

So, they sent for aid in the region next door, where one of two Zygardes reside. This Zygarde, a shiny by the name of Snek, was approached by Zapdos, who pleaded with him to stop Bill's reign of terror at any cost.

Snek agreed to help, and went to the desert to face off against Bill.

Snek was the Guardian of the Earth, protector of all pokemon big and small. He would not allow Bill to continue to antagonize innocent pokemon any longer.

For Bill, all this destruction and chaos was merely a game, one that he had never lost before. He found Snek's declaration hilarious, and said that if Snek could be him in a fight, he'd back off. Of course, he didn't think Snek had a chance.

Their battle lasted from day to dusk, and only ended when both combatants were too exhausted to keep up the fight.

But Bill wouldn't accept defeat so easily, reminding Snek that he agreed to stop only when he was beaten, not in a draw.

He portaled away after that, leaving the exhausted dragon in the desert.

Snek was more furious and frustrated than he'd been in his entire life. He knew he could beat Bill, he just needed to land a hit on him!

They fought many times over the next few days, until Snek was finally, finally able to get the best of Bill.

And the Hoopa's response?

He laughed. He laughed and he laughed, like a child that had just heard the world's funniest joke.

An indescribable emotion welled up in the Zygarde's chest, making him want to beat Bill up all over again. He'd done nothing but treat the dragon like a joke, and now he was doing it again, even after he lost!

Battered as he was, Bill got to his feet. Grinning like an idiot, he told Snek that that was the most fun he ever had.

He meant it, too. Snek offered something to him he'd never had: an equal. Someone who proved to be just as strong as he was, who could provide a challenge when he desperately wanted one.

A deal was a deal, Bill wouldn't hurt littler pokemon anymore.. but, in exchange, he wanted Snek to keep visiting him- so that they could battle again.

Snek hated to admit it, but somewhere along the way he started to have fun too. Being a Guardian wasn't a very involved process most days, and Bill had been an exciting diversion.

From then on, the pair were rivals. Meeting every so often to fight in the desert, just as they had before.

If only things could've stayed that way..

There's this whole thing that happens with Snek disappearing and Bill becoming worse than ever and ending up confined as a result. That happened thousands of years ago.

Being confined knocked Bill into something of a coma. Ho-Oh found his body after she learned what happened to him.

She was horrified by what became of her son, but couldn't bring herself to watch over him under the assumption that he hated her.

She handed him over to a friend, Marshadow. He agreed to keep an eye on the now tiny genie.

Marshadow lived in the New Moon woods, along with his adoptive son, Phobius the Darkrai.

Phobius had heard of Bill before, and had seen him appear in many pokemon's worst nightmares. He also knew that he had wronged Ho-Oh in the past, and was skeptical of him.

He sulked a ton when he found out Bill would be living with them permanently.

Bill lived with the two of them from then on. Over time he relearned how to use his powers, and being tiny and helpless put into perspective how truly awful it must have been for everyone he terrorized.

Bill grew to love Marshadow and Phobius like family, and they welcomed him in turn. Though Phobius would never admit it.

The legends of Bill being a terrible demon who terrorized the desert became just that. He had a new identity, that of a prankster and thief, one whose favor could be earned with offerings of coin and food. Harmless, but he could make your life hell with his pranks.

Nowadays he's just considered a minor trickster god. During certain festivals pokemon leave out food and other offerings to him for luck.

At some point over the years, Bill was able to get his little mitts on the bottle that his power was sealed in. He never opened it because he didn't need to. In all honesty he was having a great time being just as little as everyone else. Nobody hated him anymore, he could play all the games he wanted, and now pokemon left food out for him!

In my opinion Bill was just too big and too rowdy for most people to handle. He had no outlets and took it out on people weaker than him. It's why things improved as soon as he had a buddy to spar with.

Speaking of his buddy..

Snek has returned to his region after being gone for a couple millennia. He's a more active guardian than ever, and he's even made himself a couple mortal friends!

He's especially well known and celebrated in the Pale Desert, a place covered in white sand. From there, rumors spread far and wide of a shining protector known as Snek.

So far and wide, in fact, that Bill hears about him.

Bill has chilled out considerably in his time in confinement, but hearing that name again makes him furious.

Snek, his rival, who abandoned him all those years ago- Now back in the flesh and living it up with the mortals like nothing ever happened.

If just hearing about Snek's return is enough to make Bill snap, then opening the prison bottle and regaining his powers is the thing that makes him break.

And this time, he brings the fight to Snek's turf.

Bill pins Snek to the ground during their fight, wailing on him until he tires himself out. He breaks down, crying about how Snek abandoned him.

He left without a word, all those years ago, and Bill never forgot. He tried everything to get his friend back, he even went on a rampage in the hopes he would come and stop him, but it didn't work. He was just.. gone.

Bill pulls out the prison bottle and opens it. He shrinks back down to his confined form and continues to cry. He just wanted his friend back.

It breaks Snek's heart to see his once dear friend like this. Maybe it's wrong of him, but he had no idea Bill cared about him that much..

From this point, the two of them agree to try and repair their friendship.

They still take the time to spar like they used to- Snek would be lying if he said he didn't miss it. But they find themselves having even more fun than they did in the past.

Snek introduces Bill to his friends, Bill has Snek meet his brother and adoptive dad, they go to festivals together, and sometimes just stop and enjoy each other's company..

They've both changed a lot since they first met. In many ways, things for them have gotten more difficult, but they have also changed for the better.

definitely modern Lumiose. I think the reveal trailer last year had quite a few things that made it seem like it might at least partially take place in an older Lumiose CIty.

The choice of two Johto starters + Tepig feels odd. They could do something really funny here, and give just these starters megas, and Typhlosion is the only Johto starter to not get a mega. Or give both Johto and Unova starter trios megas, and the player gets given one each of the missing mons later?

I have not played SV. The part where Chikorita attacks the Bunnelby, then the player throws a ball? Looks like what I've seen of SV's "Let's Go" thing, but you can actually catch them and not just defeat wild mons. I did want the pokemon to actually follow us in PLA and was disappointed it didn't happen.

basically teleporting onto the rooftops is... a choice. not that I'd expect us to actually climb up the sides of buildings, but I do wonder what the teleporter is meant for in the story. it looks kinda like the Rotom phone saving you from a fall is back? with how tall most buildings in Lumiose are, it'd really suck to be constantly blacking out because of shattered legs lol.

the rivals do look like recolors of the player characters. as long as we can still customize the player character, I don't really care. Taunie and Urbain make me think of Ilima or Mina. and a little of Palina?

both pokemon and the trainers actually moving around in battle! I'm curious about how that's going to work in practice.

kind of "eh" on the glowy/iridescent effect mega evo gives the mons shown. I get being able to tell it apart easier from a normal mon from afar though.

back to the battling: I did have issues in PLA at certain distances. like in that first fight against Mai's Munchlax! my first move could never hit her Munchlax, until I waited for it to close the distance between our mons a bit. looks like Z-A's battling will actually take that kind of thing into proper account?

Managed to get "MassivelyFuckingDEPRESSED/BD!Inupi" with like three minutes left on the clock for the 10th Gen. BD trio banner... I would say 'thank you for the good food' but the algorithm gave me a shitload of all blue 10-rolls, or just BD!Koko. That's it, just him. All the time.

HOWEVER, I am VERY ETERNALLY GRATEFUL I worked so obsessively hard because FortuneTeller!Koko is my favorite, the most beautiful kitty-catte/snek in the whole entire world- And Taiju for some reason also has the same Costume Theme/Limit Break effect, so he constantly screams at me like a pregnant bear, then makes like 90% of the fucking screen disappear with an EXTREMELY GAY little magical SFX.

Speaking of Taitai-

This should be illegal on the grounds of all the fine bone china dining sets are gonna be broken by the time the Butler Cafe Event is closed.

Okay so Unova was my first region, specifically Pokémon black bc I thought Reshiram looked cooler than Zekrom, and I have to know how you're liking it. Who was your starter? Mine was my lil bacon bit tepig! Also! I've always thought that crustle looked like lasagna! And emolga is my Friend!

pokemon black was my very first pokemon game, i got a used copy to play on my ds in elementary school and i've been in love with unova every since!! reshiram was my first legendary so i do have a soft spot for him, i do also like zekrom and kyurem in black 2 and the lore behind that trio

my very first starter was tepig because of the black/white manga that i read a little of at the time, but as a kid i thought emboar was ugly- i think he's pretty cool now but since i picked tepig for my black2 replay i picked snivy for this black replay! objectively the worst choice for the gameplay but i love my grass snek :3

i HATED emolga so much as a kid because the electric gym was always my worst obstacle, i don't really use ground types so i'd always end up catching a sandile, using it for that gym, and then ditching it XD i have dwebble this time tho so hopefully he can help with the electric gym

i do love emolga now but unfortunately i've never used it on my team because it's one of those pokemon that's SO ANNOYING to go against and then the second i have one it's not that good on my team unfortunately. i might try to get one to have an electric type but i forget if it can learn Fly and if it can't, i gotta prioritize a different flying type qnq

He's actually well known at the Leaf House and acts like he hates kids, but is really good with them since he doesn't treat them like they're simple. He's definitely taught the bullied kids how to throw down. His greatest achievement: Being called "cool" by the orphans but Aerith doesn't let him show off in front of them with his weapons, like his handgun (Jae: IT'S NOT EVEN LOADED! COME ON, THEY CAN PASS IT AROUND-).

He thinks Tseng's one-sided crush on her is hilarious, but he'd never say that to his face ever <- good blackmail material, Aerith *COUGHCOUGH*

Cid Highwind: "UGH, LIBERALS WITH YOUR 78 GENDERS" versus "OK BOOMER, SURE YOU GOT YOUR COLOSTOMY BAG ON PROPERLY???"

Cloud: Two guys who honestly just fucking HATE each other, Jae is well aware he's not a SOLDIER and recognizes him from a Before Crisis timeline escort mission which puts a damper on Cloud's 'I'm the Main Character" act.

Jae is not at all interested in Cloud, but makes faux-flirtatious banter with him anyway because the way Cloud reacts is funny as fuck.

Sephiroth: Idk man, like just DESTROY Jae- Kick him like he is the football!! I never get to write Jae getting the shit kicked out of him, it's fun.

Tseng: Big Bro and annoying younger sibling energies, but make it between Team Leader and Coworker. They talk shit about each other all the time, but as soon as someone unrelated makes a disparaging comment, they're like "HEY, PAL- ONLY I GET TO CALL THEM STUPID NAMES".

Zack: OOOH, OOOH- Jae was there and stayed behind to destroy evidence of the Nibelheim Incident with Verdot, Zack could remember seeing Jae and Veld before he passes out and associates them with Shinra baddies/maybe gets angry and tries to fight him when they meet up in remake continuity?

Dion: Bahamut, King of the Gays meets weird little scrungly assassin man who works with The Undying, Jae is totally the one who kicked his soldier through the tent entrance- Joshua is too Nice(tm) for that.

Jae doesn't have to be Leviathan's dominant in this AU since idk how the DLC is gonna fuck it up, or we COULD go with that and have fabulous laser dragon + twink water snek whombo-combo fighting together against Ultima and his weird Oedipus-complex himbo goth, Barnabas.

Jill: Maybe Jae helps Clive save Jill and is a Gav-like rogueish companion as they travel? Can be Levi dominant or not, but I think that's funny because they'd be the elemental trio of "fire", "water", and "water, but like, really cold bruh". THERE CAN BE ONLY ONE! j/k

Sleipnir: I just like the idea of them being totally obnoxious at each other since they have similar-ish personalities, like Clive and Barnabas are fighting all macho manly man beeg swordboner style and then you have the two fucking smarmy twinks strutting around and Shady Lady-ing at each other.

Terence Bellerose: If we're roping in @phoenixshards, then I can see Joshua and Dion having tea and calmly discussing the threat at large while Terence and Jae glower at each other from across the room all "OH, HE'S PRETTY... PRETTIER THAN ME?!" style over their respective boyfriends. THE SHIELDS ARE FIGHTIIING-

Or idk Terence is a little weirded out Joshua has a literal criminal as his Shield and Jae's underworld funk vibes get up his knightly snoot. He's a man of honor, Jae is the exact opposite- Sparks may fly?
