“Budge over, I made some hot cocoa.” Techno rumbled, Phil giving a smirk but listened to his request to allow the pink-haired man a place on the blanket he sat on. Arranging the huge cloak over both their legs the frostiness begins to bleed from Phil’s toes, cuddling close to his nether-blooded friend.

He settles down with a grunt, flipping his long mane of lotus-pink hair over his broad shoulder. Phil carefully wraps one of his huge crow-feathered wings around the pigs back, holding him close while Techno drapes his cloak over the appendage with practised ease. Bundling close, their body heat combined made it much more comfortable to reside outside for longer while the avian fished.

i think i remember flowers from 1970? probably? it’s a dnf fanfic right? i think my dreamteam friend told me she was reading it at one point

OK SO. I feel like the external videos, previous smps, and contests are still a part of the dsmp. At least most of them. Like, the characters are an extension of the CC and their YouTube/Twitch journey. The characters join the dsmp, and they come from different places, and those places are the series the CC is currently working on. Like they have a built in backstory.

For instance: Tommy, SMPEarth and Skyblock are canon for him. Philza, hardcore world and SMPEarth. Techno, Hypixel, MCM, SMPEarth, so on and so forth. BadBoyHalo, MunchyMC, videos with Skeppy, and MCM. And Dream, MunchyMC and Manhunts. MCC for all of these too. I gave a lot of examples just to show a lot of the different places they come from. There can ofc be more!

And I KNOW they said it wasn’t canon, but I think the Fundy marriage was canon too. Just to put into perspective how many of these things are considered canon for anyone who might be in doubt, everyone thought the Fundy proposal videos were canon until they said it wasn’t. Which obviously I didn’t listen to.

I will say, I do continue the “characters are an extension of their CC” thing with the QSMP (like the dsmp part of the character is canon in the qsmp), but with the QSMP, they knew they were making characters, so not all things really flow over the same, at least we don’t know if the dsmp is canon yet (some other old smps seem to be though), but I still headcanon that the island tried to wipe the characters memories and make them forget about important things they left behind so they wouldn’t want to leave the island. Thus, the character is still carried on, they probably just don’t know it.

Anyways, carrying on. I actually haven’t watched Squid Craft 2. I did not know that existed :0

And dw I was not saddened by the window. But like I did just sorta explain, George looking at the manhunt would be like George looking at his happy past. The knight thing’s totally an au tho.

and clawdeen WOULD hate twilight. I actually just started reading it, and it was going pretty well until the whole “dude makes girl uncomfortable but it’s ok because she actually secretly likes it!! Haha!!” thing. I feel like clawdeen would hate twilight mostly though because she sees herself in the main character, but the story reacts in such ways that are just unsatisfactory and not at all what actually happen to a girl like Bella, which Clawdeen experiences because she feels she is actually a girl like Bella and she HATES IT. She’s like, “That’s not how it works! Vampires might have all these super awesome powers, but that’s not what makes them likable!!” (as I haven’t read enough of twilight yet, I just have a hunch about this hc, so I will say my main basis for clawdeen relating to Bella is because she also has a crush on a vampire.)

And instead of a werewolf book, she actually finds the dog version of warriors.

This is great and all but what happens when Antarctica is forced out of isolation and people really start to meet the ruler himself. Is he anything they thought him to be? it’s just a waltz (i’d give you anything you wanted) - After a successful battle campaign across the globe, co-emperors Technoblade and Philza take a reprieve in their mountain palace they call home. A reprieve means a break. Avoiding work. Techno struggles with this, so Phil takes matters into his own hands, and orchestrates a simple, fun plan to help Techno loosen up. (Oneshot)

Moonglass - The Antarctic Empire has long since peacefully disbanded- really, there never was an Empire in the first place. A means to an end and nothing more, their work was done and they retreated back to where their simple work waited in the southern snow. That is, until one day, when Commander Philza Minecraft is nominated to be part of the first group of players to land on the moon. Just a simple trip to survey the land, to evaluate what could be built there one day.... The reports never mentioned the dragon. (7/7)

Earth and Its Connotations - If things were different, if time had been a little more fluid when her hands had set events into motion, then we might have watched a completely new story unfold from the start. The Cold Brings People Together - No one would question the bond between the leaders of the Antarctic Empire. Some would call them thick as thieves, birds of a feather, peas in a pod, bolder ones would even call them like a father and son, others would run in fear at the titles 'Blood god' and 'Angel of Death'. Everyone knew that to get to Techno you would have to go through Phil and to get to Phil you would have to go through Techno. The question on the more curious, more daring peoples' minds was, how did the two get so close? (Oneshot)

Why Did You Return. -  And even as Deo brought the feared Midas sword to hiss neck, he couldn't find himself to feel any fear. The only emotion he could feel was raw regret, and acceptance. He knew he would relinquish his life to a God-slayer, a renowned fearless being, who would stop at nothing to protect those who he considered family. He would lose his life to TimeDeo, once a brother, now an enemy, and Wisp could not bring himself to feel any fear, only the relief that it was someone he still deeply cared for taking the anger out on him in a way he deemed justified, and there was no fear. Only the cold accepting that this was the end. (Oneshot)

I don't really have a ton of citations for you. I think this shifted a lot as the dream-team-centric part of the fandom incorporated and learned about Techno as a person and not just Dream's rival, and if I'm being honest I don't have Thoughts so much as I remember having Thoughts in like mid-2021. General attitudes towards Techno shifted wildly from his “monotone,” “emotionless” reputation in early 2021, and the things I remember thinking about kinda stopped applying. I don’t remember what posts bothered me or why I wanted to bring it up.

But. People talk a lot about Techno's speech patterns, and it's true that in an industry that encourages getting as close to newscaster-neutral as possible, his voice can stand out a bit.

In early days when Dream and Techno were very much set up as rivals and people were trying to justify who would/wouldn't win in certain scenarios, it was actually pretty common to claim that Dream has more mechanical and tactical knowledge than Techno. Techno was cast as the brute-force fighter in these essays - comparatively unknowledgable but mechanically gifted. This is a really bad analysis - Techno’s knowledge of the things he cared about was encyclopedic, and his and Dream’s strengths are a lot more similar than they are different.

Where this intersects with voice is that in a US speaker’s perception, Dream has a pretty standard urban American accent, and Techno, as has been noted by fanfic writers everywhere, does not.

The most notable aspect that gets commented on is "g-dropping," the change of the "-ing" sound to "-in." People who don't do anything else to indicate peoples' speech patterns in writing will make sure they write down that Techno's sayin' something, not just saying it.

(This is called an "eye dialect," the use of a nonstandard spelling to emphasize a pronunciation.)

But that's far from the only thing that marks out Techno's accent. If you've watched his introductions to people (i.e. SMPEarth), you might notice that it's not uncommon for people to assume he's from the South, especially Texas, and to be surprised he's from California. The most commonly-known "California accents" are all very urban- and middle-class-centric, while features of Techno's accent (he can sometimes sort of "break" dipthongs and slur or drop syllables, and most especially the g-dropping) are more associated with rural accents in the US, and especially the rural South. And I don’t think that’s entirely dissociated from the way that so many people were so quick to assume, all evidence to the contrary, that he doesn’t know what he’s talking about.

Obviously we don't know a whole lot about Techno's background, so I have no particular thoughts on how he ended up with the accent he did (though it sounds to me like it shares some features with the poorly-described "inland rural California English"). The only thing I can say is how it's perceived, which is as containing a lot of features that US speakers are going to mark as rural and working-class.

(A really fascinating part of this is his seeming inability to really code-switch at all; his Sir Billiam voice contains just as much g-dropping as his normal speech, whereas most people attempting to sound like a rich person would focus on speaking "correctly" and get all those nasals in the right spots. My own g-dropping is markedly more noticeable when I’m with my family than when I’m [location redacted]. But this is more sidetracking linguistics than... ok ok uh back to the point.)

Well... I guess like I said I don’t have much of a point any more, and I probably should have written this post a year back when I did. I certainly don’t have anything quite as obvious and pointed as Xeph’s discussion of how stereotypes about Northern England get applied to certain people (esp. Philza, Jack).

I just have, like, people talk a lot about Techno’s voice, and other blogs brought up a lot of really good points about how perceptions of his speech likely intersect with his ADHD and how neurodivergence can effect speaking patterns (speaking of which, a lot of neurodivergent people can struggle with code-switching! hmm). But I think an aspect that got missed sometimes is the way that those perceptions can also overlap with accent.

And also sometimes I see people pointing out Techno’s speech in a way they don’t for any of the other Dream SMP members. If there's one feature that you consider notable enough to mark while keeping everything else textbook, I think it's worth taking a minute to ask yourself why the feature stands out, and what connotations highlighting it might have. It’s not always a bad thing to do so! It’s just worth taking a second look.

Yknow what I really want a SmpEarth Emerald Duo and Tommy fanfics, its actually such a interesting concept, Imagine this op of a duo in the entire server and their rival is this some random ass 15 yo kid with a suit and his party of friends that was there for the chaos

for some reason i can never bring myself to write smpe fanfics even though i want to so bad and i have so many ideas. but yes i think the ae and business bay relationship would be so fun to explore in fic. like in my mind, smpe is like, they're "enemies" but also really it's just tommy being an annoying child and everyone else humoring him because inexplicably they like him. and things get a little real at times, but at the end of the day nobody actually wants to hurt anybody else. i put it all as having much lower stakes than dsmp so like business bay and the ae can be at war for an entire day but then joking around with each other the second it's over. wisp betrays business bay and has to put up with two days of silent treatment and a removal from the group chat before he's back to playing bedwars with them.

one thing i really like about the dream smp fandom is the fact that in fanfic the CCs other content is often incorporated into the lore of that fic. like even if that content has never once been mentioned in the dream smp during canon moments, i’ve seen people mention it in fics.

fics where sapnap or george mention going to “other worlds” or “other servers” and doing manhunts with dream, and thats why theyre such close friends because the three of them rarely canonically ineract. i remember one fic that mentions tubbo and tommys history on skywars and thats their backstory. wilbur and schlatts challenge videos. 

like sure, smpLive and smpEarth have been mentioned canonically a few times with connor and schlatts “business history” and the antarctic empire shield with techno and philza “going way back”. but i just love when content that doesn’t remotely relate to the dream smp is mentioned in dream smp fics.

A familiar team - a Mcc 10 fanfic

I just really like the Lime Llamas team, I was supposed to write a very angsty moment of Techno feeling abandoned by the Sbi but I needed up writing a fanfic for all of the team! Kinda proud since I wrote this right after waking up while still being half asleep XD

Techno approached the small building in the middle of the Minecraft Championship plaza, dragging his suitcase along, his sword, shield, and bow were strapped on his back.

Scouting the monitor for his name, he swiftly dropped the Aqua Axolotls dorms key in the tiny holder with the name of the team, after doing so, his attention was back on the monitor:

Tapl... The_Eret... Technoblade!

He clicked his name to find the name of his new dorm/team:

Lime llamas huh, Dream was always on Lime Llamas, he sighed, there is no way they’re letting me and Dream team again.

He looked at the small key holders to find that his new team’s keys were all still there, meaning no one else was at the dorm yet: he was the first one in.

As always I may add, Techno usually changed dorms a day or two after the previous event ended, in fact, many keys were still missing, people took it way slower than he did and usually changed dorm just as their team was announced.

Grabbing one of the Lime keys, he headed for the dormitory.

When he, Wilbur, and Phil started teaming together, he had studied the disposition of the buildings in the server, he knew exactly where everything was, all of the dorms included.

He passed in front of the Green Guardians and the Yellow Yaks dormitories to arrive at his, unlocking the door a wave of lavender detergent welcomed him into his new temporary home.

Choosing the room on the far right, he placed everything down and started to unpack his suitcase.

Nikki and Techno had been texting each other recently since she had decided to join MCC, Techno offered himself to go get her at the lobby and escort her to her dormitory since he knew the place like the back of his hand.

They met up and he immediately took her to the team announcing building to get her keys: she was probably tired from packing all of her things and getting here, it was better that she knew where her room was.

”So… What's your team?” Techno was leaned against a pillar, waiting further behind her not wanting to see her team before her.

”Lime Llamas..?” She read out loud slowly, Techno’s eyes widened before laughing in joy ”You're on my team, Nikki!”

It took her a moment to process the information, but when she did she covered her mouth, cheering as well. ”Oh my God really?! That's amazing!” The two of them high-five and started walking to their team’s dorm.

Unlocking the door, they found Eret on the couch with a laptop on his lap, as soon as he noticed them entering, he bounced in his seat and quickly got up to hug Nikki, all of them beaming with joy.

After Nikki chose the other room on the right, Techno and Eret sat down to talk.

”It’s been a while, my dude! I was wondering for how long Scott could avoid teaming us together” Eret took the laptop back into his lap without paying too much attention to the device, ”Yeah, it was bound to happen at some point” silence fell, the last time they sat down and talked was ages ago, an initial awkward moment was normal.

”So…” Eret broke the silence, Techno was very glad he did, ”It's been a while since SmpEarth huh” the two of them started talking about many things, from when they used to talk on SmpEarth to when Eret teamed with Vikkstar and Pete, they also shared strategies on various minigames until the conversation became a genuine, how have you been dude?

After Nikki emerged from her room, she asked if anyone wanted an infusion or tea, both of them thanked her and asked for an infusion.

As the boiler started making noises, the door opened behind them, revealing the last member of their already perfect team.

”No fucking way” a Jordie accent swore as he saw the three people in the room, turning to the door, Techno couldn't believe his eyes.

He bolted as fast as he could to the blonde man who had entered the door, hugging him tightly.

”Wooh, Jesus Christ Techno, you're going to break me” he let go of the deadly grip as tears started building in his eyes.

”Hello Technomate~” Phil peaked at him from underneath his green and white hat, ”I’m happy to see you too”.

Techno was at a loss of words, what were the odds? His new team were people he knew and cared about, this was just amazing!

Phil closed the front door and went on to greet Eret and Nikki, who were also very happy that Phil was the last teammate.

“This is probably the best team I’ve ever gotten after the Sleepy boy’s team” Techno whispered to himself loud enough for everyone to hear,” I don’t even care if we win, I’m just so happy”

Phil, Eret, and Nikki all smiled at him gesturing to stop standing at the exit and instead, sit on the couch with them.

Was this a dream? He didn’t know, but if it was, he hoped no one would wake him up.

Why? any characters that i don't know much about & any characters who aren't aroace-coded because i am a very Canon Compliant person and if they're not aroace-coded then my aroace ass doesn't know what to do with them. 3. When did you start writing fanfic? i think i was around 2015-ish. i started writing in books with pencil and paper before bed and then i got wattpad and went WILD. 14. How do you feel about your older work? uhh not great tbh. i have about 2 works left on wattpad from like 2018 that aren't horrible?? but that's because they're just so poorly written to the point where you can't even criticize them. my older fics on ao3 aren't too horrible either, i just don't like them because i don't feel like they represent me anymore. any fics that come from before 2021 are fics that i wrote before i realized i was aroace, and i really tried to force myself to write romantic stuff even though i literally Did Not Understand It. i feel a little better about my writing now because i feel like it's more authentically me :) 15. What is the fanfic you’ve written that you’re most proud of? again, Syzygy. took like 3 months but it was the best 3 months of my life: waking up and immediately writing all summer Yippe!!! 16. Bad Parent Phil Watson, SBI but they're Literally Family, and any au's that aren't Royalty or Vampires. i write stories that i want to read, so i tend to stay away from things that aren't really to my taste. not saying any of the tropes listed above are bad, it's just that i'm not a fan of them. 17. What fanfic tropes do you gravitate to writing for? Royalty and Vampire au's, Hurt No Comfort (which is weird because i personally prefer Hurt/Comfort), anything angsty tbh, Canon Compliant (this is a big one. if i'm not writing an au i'm writing canon complaint. and if i am writing an au, i am finding a way to slip some canon compliant details into the characters and plot any chance i can get). 18. Do you prefer editing as you write, or waiting until it’s finished? waiting until it's finished, unless, of course, i'm rereading before starting another writing session just to get caught up on the Lore, in which case i'll fix any mistakes i find. 19. What words do you think you tend to use the most? 'slightly', 'as', 'said', 'ached', 'murmured', & more!! 20. What feedback makes you the happiest to hear? anything that relates to my writing style and characters. i love talking about my stories sm so when someone comments something about a plot point or how a character reacted for something i do a little internal happy dance :D 21. How much do you stick to canon? as much as i can. i mostly write DSMP rn which has lore that's SO HARD to keep up with. i'll do as much research as i can because i crave validation from the people who DO know what's going on. i'll deviate a little from time to time for minor creative purposes, but that's about it (ex: in in conclusion, Dream has escaped from prison and is looking for tommy, tommy relies on phil; that is canon. tubbo getting blackout drunk? not so much). so i'd say a solid 94% 24. Do you prefer AUs with the characters, or sticking to the original universe? uh i'm not 100% sure what this is asking but i'm not a big fan on mixing things like harry potter and bts (ik there's a lot of those au's like that out there). i tend to like to keep things to their original universe, unless it's an au that's ambiguous like royalty au's (because i'm not about to write a fanfic about the Queen Of England lmao) 25. the longest to write? What was difficult about it? the scene in which Tommy is thinking about his time with Technoblade in From the Grave. it took so long because i didn't know how to fit it into the story smoothly and almost got rid of it completely because it just Wasn't Working the way i wanted it to. i left it in anyway though because if i had taken it out i also would have had to remove another key part of the story so i just threw it in and went "yeah okay let's hope this doesn't break the flow too much" (spoiler alert: it broke the flow a fair amount, i don't like it) 26. Are titles for your stories easy to come up with? for the most part yeah. i've got a pretty good system i think: PICK SONG THAT RELATES TO FIC or THINK OF A FUNKY SUMMARY EXCEPT YOU HAVE A 3-5 WORD LIMIT 27. What time of day do you prefer to write? either right after i wake up or right before i go to sleep. Syzygy is the only exception (i wrote all day almost every day it was NUTS) 28. Is there a part of [Fanfic Name] you’re surprised no one has picked up on yet? i'm not sure if people picked up on this one but in Syzygy at the start of chapter 2 Ranboo is very clearly afraid of death but near the end he doesn't really care what happens to him. that's a little silly of me i think. 29. (Brainstorming, outlining, writing, editing, etc) anything except editing. i despise editing because it's 50/50. i either hate what i wrote or love it. all the other stuff is fun because i just get to let the brain turn off and kinda go with the flow, but when i have to edit i actually have to THINK and READ and that's Not Fun (a little ironic, sure, but the Writing Demon that possesses me when i write is a quirky little guy and i'd like it if it stayed a little longer) 30. What makes you decide to write one versus the other? i write down all of my Good Ideas. they all go to twitter dot com in the form of a thread on my private account. when it comes to picking which one i'll Actually Write, i usually pick the ones that i have the most developed ideas for. basically the more scenes i have already planned out the more likely i am to actually write them fully. 31. What was the development process of [Fanfic Name] like? the development process of Syzygy was funny because i actually started with the scene in chapter 6 where ranboo and tubbo are having a picnic in the forest. i wrote the idea down on twitter, took screenshots of the thread, sent them to a groupchat with some friends and jokingly said "now what if they were enemies". my friend told me that was an awesome idea and all of a sudden the story unfolded right in front of me. it was kinda cool how it all just exploded out at once. had a whole epiphany for that one (hasn't happened again though LOL) 32. What story do you think showcases your signature style the most? either Promises Unbroken or in conclusion. they're both angsty but also very sweet :] 33. Have you ever stopped yourself from writing something? Why? i was originally going have beeduo actually fall in love ROMANTICALLY in Syzygy but it just didn't feel right with the pacing and how the story was going so i just decided they should have a queerplatonic relationship instead. why did i do this? aroace moment. 34. Have you felt emotional while writing a scene before? What scene was it? there's a few bits in I Will Love Her that got me a little emotional but i think that's because it's a vent fic. there were also a few scenes in in conclusion (especially the scene where Tommy's about to throw the wine bottle into the lake and has a brief moment of reflection of beeduo's wedding. that whole scene is just so bittersweet and it made me tear up a little ngl) 35. Tommy is an emotionless prince, with storm grey eyes that once shined blue. He used to have a loving mother, and brothers, and a father. That all changed when his mother got sick, died and left their family in shambles. The emperor, his father has an assassination attempt, rendering him dead to the world. Theseus, the crown prince, has to run the empire.

He's still struggling with the loss of Wilbur, who ran away, and his mother.

He has to pick up the pieces of himself, and go from boisterous child who loved chaos, to a prince who nobody is able to read. This is his time spent in the cocoon, going from caterpillar to butterfly
