@smokes-and-bullets
Continued from here.
Out from one location, onto another. Wearing a more formal attire, dress pants and a dark purple vest with his hair styled in a high pony tail slicked back as he got out of a taxi. With him was a young woman in a long shimmering red dress. They had gotten back from a high end restaurant, one she paid for in full. Now they were heading to one of her few apartments in the city. Helping the woman out of the car he noticed Kira walking down the street coming up to them, immediately growing pale at the sight of her. Hopefully she didn't recognize him, hopefully. To no avail as she walked right up to them. "Kira.. uh.. hey. Interesting to see you here. Where are you headed?" Paying the cab driver through the window, the lady in red stood by after with a confused hum before reaching to pat his cheek, grabbing his attention with a chuckle. "Seeing other girls behind my back, and here I thought I was the only one.. You'll make it up to me right?" She was teasing, apparent by the smile on her face before leaning up to give his cheek a kiss. "I'll be inside getting ready, don't take too long with your friend alright?" With that she walked off, her heels clanking until the silence indicating she was inside the building. "Sorry about that.. she's a.. friend.." If friends paid the other to provide company and sleep with them, he wasn't sure what else to say. "Where are you off to, it's.." Checks his watch. "Not that late actually.. I take it home?" There was a nervous tone in his voice though he tried to brush that off.
It was a wealthy area, Kira liked coming down here sometimes for a snack after work. Most days she couldn't afford anything too extravagant, but it's the small things that keep her happy. Perhaps a warm matcha latte. Something to that extent. There's a lovely little place down the road she was walking to. But she didn't expect to see Francis around.
For such a big city, they sure seem to run into each other alot.
Kira would've said hi first, but the woman who he helped out of the car caught her off guard. She would've just minded her business, hid her face, and kept walking.
Had they not made eye contact first.
Don't make it weird. Just say hi. Maybe he'll feel comfortable enough introducing her. Probably not though. What if he just left her hanging?! Kira already regretted her moving feet even though she just kept going. Having to double down to not look like more of a weirdo.
Before she could answer his question, the sultry woman sort of addressed him before sauntering away. Kira sort of raised her hand to wave goodbye, but it was obviously not reciprocated. Embarrassed, she puts her hand back down to her side.
"Sorry if I caused you trouble. Just... grabbing a drink down the road."
It's obviously awkward between them. Kira didn't know he had a girlfriend, but either way that wouldn't have been her business to know. She just felt like he would've mentioned it in passing maybe?
" 'A friend'," She nods sagely, as if she 'understood'. So it's casual?
"She's a beautiful 'friend'," Kira says rather dreamily, looking to the large building she'd disappeared into.
"Like I said, didn't mean to interrupt you. Just stopped to be polite, I was gonna try to meet what I thought was your girlfriend. But I guess she wasn't interested," Kira shrugs her shoulders heavily. 'Oh well'.

Jeremy rolled his eyes at the childish mocking. "No, but you are bleeding. And that can leave unnecessary traces of you behind." Stating as if that was the most obvious thing ever.
"Just let me take a fucking look at it. I won't bite, I promise." Exasperated at the unwillingness to cooperate. "And that graze barely needs a band-aid." Oh, how fast the table turns. Jeremy now acting just the same way the other were.

“I’ve been good, glad to see you’re doing alright.” Haruhi said. “I’m on my 3rd year of college and I got a new job as a bar tender.” She explained. “I still work at the antique shop too but it’s like a second home and the owners treat me like their grand daughter.” She chuckled.
“But what about you, what have you been up to these days?”

a plotted starter for @smokes-and-bullets
Finally. The beach. There’s no one there now; there can’t be. Please. I need to calm down. The familiar sight as if made a weight fall off Ríane’s back. Though she kept running, she could slow down now. Her father’s silhouette seemed to be getting smaller and smaller in the distance. He was slowly giving up on following her. Thank goodness. This could have ended a long time ago. Why didn’t it?...
Still, this did not mean she was safe. Not yet. She had to figure out where to stay now, since going back home was not an option. But where would she go? Ríane did not have any friends - none that she considered so close as to ask them to stay with them. Dammit... Just when she had that thought, she realised she had ran into someone.
“Shit. Shitshitshit. Sorry. Are you okay?” The words were firing from her mouth like bullets, fuelled by her already anxious state. A more careful look made her pause. Had she seen this man around before? His face felt unfamiliar. Oh, if so... “Uh, can I... Can I ask you something? Are you from somewhere here?”

"What the hell happened to you?!"
"Huh?"
Xaallo looked at the human, blinking at the fellow blond in dim alarm. He'd sounded like he had stumbled upon a murder scene and perhaps for a creature that didn't shed, maybe that's what it was to him. Xaallo was in the middle of pulling off old scales and to a man, it might've looked as if he was pulling the very flesh off of him arms.
" Oh-- this is normal. Stop making so much noise, you're going to draw attention."

❝ please don't argue. you need to leave right now, you aren't safe here. ❞ (Terry)
a collection of danger related sentence starters
The shootout started probably only a few minutes before, but time moves very weirdly when your entire body is pumped with pure, unaltered adrenaline. Terry was hugging her knees, hidden underneath one of the mall benches, a little too stun to make a run for it like everyone else. Why did the shootout begin? She had no idea, but she knew there are more than just one lunatic unloading his gun. Hell, it sounded like a fully blown gang war going out.
The man's voice reached her in one of those rare moments when the shooting stopped and they were just--- yelling at eachother or something. It broke through her stunned exterior and it immediately allowed panic to sweep right back in.
"...Fran? FRAN! Fuck's sake Francis, th-they're killing eachother out there! They're---AAAAA!" and it started right back again, just as she was clawing out to grab his hands and pull herself out of her hiding spot.

Pokes Jack once, then twice, and again in a consecutive but slow motion. Stopping after a few pokes with a sigh. "If you're not doing anything, want to head to the park or grab a bite? Maybe both or something else."
Jack did attempt to ignore Francis for a petty moment, mainly because he was scrolling through his phone. And since Francis didn't say anything at first, it's only adding to that fire…
Until the older man brought up ideas for them to do did Jack turn to look at the man, slowly, with a shaky forced smile—more so to be comedic than to actually deter the offer.
“Oh- now, do you bring up ideas? You've been poking me for the last five minutes, I thought you were going for a world record!”
No, it's only been a few pokes, not a whole minute…
“But, uh, sure. May as well get some 'fresh' air. You can lead the way.”

He says he didn't realize just how much her words would mean to him, yet hearing him say he was glad he gave her a chance made her almost want to burst into tears. She has to blink rapidly to keep herself composes, glad that she could take a moment to look down and pretend she had an itchy eye to aid it.
She's even more thankful when the food arrives and she can focus on that instead of how deep the conversation had gotten, trying to sneakily sniffle the last of the remnants away before clapping her hands together gently at what was presented before them.
"Oh wow this is a lot! I'll definitely be taking the rest of this to go. These are gonna be the best leftovers I've ever eaten in my whole life."
She does, however, take a sip of her drink first. Doing a silly little smack of her lips and humming in content. Yeaaahhhh that was some good stuff. She'll have to keep in mind the flavors of this to try and recreate it herself to the best of her ability. Then she tries out a bite of each of what's on her plate and she honestly cannot believe there actually existed a place that gave you food this good and gave you this much of it.
"Oh these people are insane." She comments. "But like....in the best way. Like okay, obviously people with money don't care about the portions if they're willing to spend that much to begin with, but like paying a lot for the world's smallest piece of meat on a plate five times the size of it makes no sense to me. And obviously they're making money anyway but like....this here? This is the practice that makes the most sense. You give big portions of good food and it makes people wanna come back, even if it was a pretty penny, because then it all just seemed worth it."
She was way too concerned about her funds to be able to come to a place like this any type of regularly. Even once a month seemed like it would wound her wallet in a way that would take multiple months to recover, but everything was good enough to make her even consider wanting to return at some point to have more. Maybe just for special occasions where she can actually pay for herself, since she'd feel awful if Fran offered to pay for her every time.
"Oh my gosh if this is their savory foods what are their desserts like??" It's said in a playfully aggressive whisper. She's baffled.
Couldn’t help but scoff lightly at her words though he was aware she meant well. He knew well enough he shouldn’t be ashamed but it was still hard to accept, wasn’t easy to admit. Still his expression remained with a smile despite the light scoff, knowing she meant well and did appreciate what was said. The biggest fear he had was judgement and it helped that she didn’t view him as anything lesser because of what he did.
“Thank you.. that actually means a lot to me.. I didn’t think it would but appreciate it.” It was different to hear it, it didn’t matter what he did, wasn’t seen as though he were the scum of the earth for it. She continued to surprise him, or perhaps his views on others and people in general was cynical.
“I had a shitty day and you were persistent but.. not in a way after that pissed me off more.” Goes quiet in thought for a minute. “Most go about in a manner that isn’t welcoming and.. you weren’t like that. I’m making no sense.. You know boundary and I think that helped a lot with where we are now. I was able to look past it because you allowed it and I’m glad you did.. I’m glad I gave you that chance. Still wrapping my head around everything else with you, I mean what you do and are capable of but.. You’re you and I wouldn’t have it any other way.”
He wanted to move on from the topic that felt too focused on him. Focus on her. He heard her, listened and took in what was said but such things to him were just words. Empty words.
“Yes celebrate the little things that bring joy. Even if its, I don’t know a rainy day or a full grand moon. Hell I love chocolate.. too much.. The small things are worth it. I think helps with the bull shittery of the world a bit.” Some things did for him anyway, try to look forward to the good things like food, or type of weather, starry sky, moon filled sky.
As Neff continued with the conversation, his smile faltered at her words, left with some confusion. Did he still have hope or was he just going through the motions and existing until something inevitability ended him. That was depressing, was that really what he thought or was that hope still there? Staring at Neff conflicted he wasn’t sure how to respond to her. No matter how dark a situation may seem, you can still have hope recognizing that’s all it is. Was that what he had, or did that at some point vanish?
Amidst his thoughts and staring, trying to find the words to respond with, the waiter had arrived with their food. Apologizing for the long delay as the dishes were placed before the two. Once the waiter had left, the smile returned on the blond’s face, disregarding the internal conflict he had seconds ago.
“Finally! See look, shit ton of food and big ass steak! Yours looks just as hearty. This place does not skimp out.”

Throws little foil wrapped chocolates at her because he can. It's valentines day and he won't acknowledge the day but he can tease her a bit with chocolate. "You're getting free chocolate at the price of being annoyed. Enjoy."
Unprompted - Valentine's Day || @smokes-and-bullets
Neff has very interesting reactions when she gets scared or started. Sometimes she will jump with a more casual, low-toned yelp. Other times she will jump and start throwing hands before booking it in the opposite direction. Times different from that she will take a deep, slow inhale and hold her hand to her chest - usually laughing it off afterwards.
But in the case of not expecting her older friend to literally pelt her with tiny chocolates she twitches in her seat and tightly flails just a little bit - freezing in place afterwards before eyes drift between him and the chocolates.
And then she snorts and starts laughing.
"I mean, to be fair, not the worst trade off so I'll take it." She'll throw one back at him. "Uno reverse!"

"Hide. Hide now."
@smokes-and-bullets | ↪ 𝑫𝑰𝑹𝑬 𝑺𝑰𝑻𝑼𝑨𝑻𝑰𝑶𝑵𝑺 .
They were at a public park. Francis caught again on a situation he had no idea why he had agreed on. Honestly, at this point, he shouldn't be questioning his decisions and admitting he does like to have fun every once in a while, like every other person in this park. Besides, Autumn had stopped being a stranger. It didn't imply Francis had to trust him and become unwary of his presence, but he had a fair knowledge of Autumn's whereabouts and personal information to use against him if he felt betrayed one day.
It wouldn't be the case, but weren't those the foundation of trust? To become unsafe and vulnerable at someone else's hands; to give someone access to you and power over you by doing so.
Autumn flipped a T-Bone, wondering why he was given this task when the most he could cook was instant noodles. Something about 'I need to get something from the car, just don't let it burn.' Autumn didn't like it, the smoke prickling at his eyes, the wind driving that smoke into his throat, the curious look on people that could tell Autumn hadn't ever fried an egg. It wasn't a good time. Was it some retaliation for that time at the ice rink? Come on, Francis, it's been a while.
But Autumn had no morals to think that way.
Autumn heard Francis' voice, his pupils dilatated immediately, and his grip on the grill tongs became tighter; he felt a barricade against the blood rushing to his fingertips.
It was just like that time.
Autumn's father used the exact words with the same cadence and urgency after their front door was kicked down, giving entrance to what would become the most determining event in Autumn's life. When the door fell off, so did his safety, protection, faith, and innocence. Ever since, his life has been a constant loop of finding those elements back; to claim what was his by right. Those words could be easily written on Autumn's headstone. Except, he chose not to keep on hiding long ago.
Autumn turned after switching the tongs for the butcher knife. Devil themselves could come at him any second. But... a stream of water fell on his face. Yes, it was a gun, but...
"ARE YOU WHAT?!!?!?! FIVE YEARS OLD!??!!?!?"
Autumn threw the knife against the table with disbelief, taking a deep breath before he jumped at Francis and butchered him right there, then cooked him and fed him to the bears. Headache took place immediately, and there wasn't any sign of amusement on Autumn's face, yet Francis kept firing him with the water gun.
"Stop!" Autumn scoffed before threatening him with a plastic cup of lemonade.
Well, Francis was learning to give in to fun. There was that. At least.
"You're a dead man by the end of this evening." A smokey smell came behind Autumn. "Oh, shit—the steak!"

"what's that face? you look like you're going to cry."
these violent delights.
She pouts. It almost feels like he's teasing her in a way, but she knows Francis wouldn't be so uncouth. Right?
Kira uses her sleeve on her wrist to wipe the small amount of moisture from her eyes. They were puffy and her cheeks and nose were red. Indeed like she was about to cry or had been crying recently.
"Nothing gets past you," She grumbles, eyebrows furrowed now in slight frustration.
"Seems like every time I see you I've got some stupid problem to vent about. I should start paying you for the therapy sessions."
She tries to joke, but it doesn't exactly land like she's hoping. Her face drops once more into one of stoic melancholy. Her mittened hands holding each other in her lap as she sits on the bench.
"Nothing in particular. Just... hard day. Choices haunting me I guess."
