Hc that the reason Brawl plays generally slower than the other games is because the events of Subspace Emissary screwed with/destabilized the fabric of reality and put many things off track, including tears between dimensions (which is how Snake could become the first 3rd party character followed by Sonic) as well as gravity, which then balanced itself out by the time of Sm4th and Ultimate.

you were so bored, and so annoyed. music was playing, rafe, topper and kelce were laughing loudly and talking to each other, and you were just sat with your feet kicked up and arms across your chest, sulking to yourself.

every time rafe laughed, he couldn’t help but lean back and accidentally nudge you, and elbow you, but also couldn’t apologize a single time. he literally didn’t acknowledge you at all.

“rafe, please can you just talk to me?” you ask, softly and innocently as he ignores you yet again, sticking up his index finger motioning for you to wait a minute. you start to get really frustrated now, huffing and standing up.

“what are you talking about?” rafe yells at you, picking up his smashed phone from the floor. “seriously? what am i talking about? you’ve been doing nothing but ignoring me this entire fucking time!” you scream at him, eyebrows furrowed with anger.

“ignoring you? don’t be so dramatic, y/n i was watching a fucking video” rafe argues like you’re being pathetic. “not just that, you’ve been ignoring me all day. i’m here, at your house, to see you, and you just sit here with your besties, giggling like girls” you mock, anger seriously taking over you now.

“quit being a fucking crazy bitch, y/n, god, you could’ve just spoken to me” rafe shouts, watching as your eyes widen at his audacity. is he for real right now? “i have been speaking to you!” you scream back at him. at this point, your faces are inches away from each others. it looked like it was about to turn physical, but topper and kelce got involved before it could.

both boys direct you away from each other, but rafe is already embarrassed over the way you spoke about his friends, so he nudges them away. “guys, just— just go home. i’ll talk to you later.” rafe tells his friends, not even looking at them as his eyes are fixated on yours.

“you sure? i—” topper starts,

“top. i’m sure.” rafe cuts him off, looking away from you for a second to look at him. they give each other a nod, before topper and kelce walk away and head out.

“you have some serious fucking issues, woman” rafe scoffs at you, tossing his smashed phone aside. it’s not like it works anymore. “i have issues? and you don’t? fuck, someone needs to teach your ass a lesson” you angrily say to him, implying that he’s never been taught manners or respect.

“yeah, who? like you? cause you’d be a great teacher” rafe says very sarcastically, rolling his eyes at you. you think for a second before answering. “you know what, yeah. come on. i’m gonna teach you a lesson” you say, grabbing his hand and pulling him with you.

“what?” he frowns, being pulled along by you as you walk up the stairs. “you’ll see.” you say, but he couldn’t tell if you were being serious, sarcastic or just messing around.

you reach rafe’s bedroom, where you open the door and pull him in. he shuts the door after him, and looks at you. “okay, what are y’gonna teach me, miss?” he sarcastically says, thinking you’re playing a joke.

“i’ll show you. sit down” you say, pointing to his bed. he frowns with confusion, but with a playful smirk on his face. he does as you say, walking over to his bed and sitting on it with his legs hanging off the side, facing toward you.

he watches your every move as you walk to his bedside table, opening a drawer and rummaging through it before finding the pair of handcuffs he hadn’t used on you in a while.

you pick them up, putting the cuff on your index finger and swirling it around before closing the drawer with your hip. “and what do you plan on doing with those?” he asks, chuckling but not expecting you to grab his wrists and push him down onto the bed, before instantly getting on top of him to straddle him.

“woah— wh—” he says, being cut off by the sound of the handcuffs opening and being placed around his wrist.

you lie down on your bed, and decide to maybe take a small nap to help you feel better. but not even 15 minutes into your nap you hear a soft knock on your door. “come in” you groan, as you readjust yourself so that you can sit up and see whoever’s at your door, expecting your roommate needing assistance with something for the party. but to your surprise, your greeting by three familiar faces, one being a very drunk atsumu miya.

it was gifted to you on christmas about two years ago. you’ve always dwelled on wanting one of your own, but never had the balls to go out of your way to purchase one because they could get pretty pricey. a lot of your extensive research and effort you spent scouring the internet to find the perfect vinyl record you’d like pointed to signs of something completely out of your budget. well, not completely, but unrealistically obtainable with the numbers you’ve been receiving paycheck-to-paycheck from your job.

so, each time that the holidays were around the corner, and whenever your mother would ask for your christmas wishlist, you’d throw in several other items you’d like but never included the idea of wanting a vinyl record. that secret desire of yours was something you kept to yourself, something you never brought up in conversation, nor was it something you’d expect to receive unless it was coming out of your pockets.

lo and behold, on the morning of a wintery cold december 25, when you were gathered around the christmas tree with your siblings and parents to open your presents, there sat a box with a fragile sticker stuck to the wrapping.

All in all it was so fun and the band was amazing too, the light show... such a good night.

Everyone was amazing but he was the main event, maybe bc he's the sydney boy... also the fan event at the end was a sweet little animation and he was the prince and it made me laugh bc I do keep saying he's the crown prince of Sydney.... he's honestly really someone I think I'm quite happy to see representing us on such a big world stage, bc he does really seem to have such a big heart and a lot of love- idk. Christopher Bang. What a fella. His smile is truly like a beam and he was so happy and every time he was smiling, I was smiling, too. I hope he feels proud tonight, lol.

And I still wanna bite seungmin on the cheek 🫶 Suffice to say- best concert to break my many years no concert streak with 🩷 it was a lovely night.

Being best friends with Alejandro & Rudy

Alejandro is generally a very touchy person. And if not touchy then very verbally aggressive in his affection. You are no exception to this. He's always right there, loud and proud of you. Encouraging you.

Rodolfo is much quieter. He keeps his hands to himself and gives you reassuring nods or occasional encouragement.

The two are like day and night and it was hard to get used to both of them each. But they complimented each other nicely.

Starting with Rudy, at first his mute expressions set you off a little. You were unnerved slightly as first by his silent, watching eyes. Always on you, always watching and yet you were unable to read him. You admit you might have been a tad scared of him at first.

Until he started to speak, loosening up around Alejandro when you were all together and it finally gave you the opportunity to crack into him and understand him some more.

Slowly Rudy became a little more expressive around you. His training always kicks in and sometimes he forgets to smile, or it's strained when he tries. But you know he means well and slowly that smile loosens and feels natural around you.

You make him smile.

Whenever going on beach outings Alejandro would much rather stay on the beach by the food and drinks. While Rodolfo is always in the water. He loves to surf and when you wanted to learn he immediately perked up in a way you hadn't seen before.

He is skilled on his board, and the first time you heard him really laugh was after attempting a trick and falling like a ragdoll into the wave.

Despite the laughter he was still very concerned for you but still.

You loved to play videogames with Rudy. Even if he had way more experience with videogames, and he'd been playing them longer. It was always fun.

And they both could make the most amazing food. Rudy always has a music playlist he puts on when him and Alejandro are cooking. Often Alejandro trying to push Rudy out of the way and get you out of the kitchen so he can cook for you two.

"Y/n- get out of my kitchen, estoy tratando de hacer que la comida, Te voy a dar una bofetada con esta espátula si no salir!" I'm trying to make you food, I'll slap you with this spatula if you don't get out! (Apologies if the translation is wrong.)

"Ok ok, I'm sorry oh mighty cooking one." You back out of the kitchen, chuckling. You know he doesn't mean any harm, he's just passionate.

"Rudy! Smash bros, with me while cooking king is doing his thing."

Rudy chuckles, leaving his speaker in the kitchen. "Fine, but don't expect to win."

"I will too win!!"

"No you won't."

"Yes... yes I will!"

"Not a chance."

"Rudy stop that!"

He chuckles and sits down, taking his controller.

He did in fact beat you. No surprise though.

Ale loves to cook for you both. He loved to cook for everyone but other than affection and words of affirmation, food is his love language. He absolutely loves showering you in delicious pounds of food. Making sure You're well fed every single time.

Both of them get pretty touch starved. Along with being proactive, they too are in the group of soldiers who happen to get carried away in their work far too often.

It has happened a few times where you've had to drag them away from their desks or get them out of the sun and make them take a break. Or they'll get so exhausted on their own they'll drag themselves to come find you.

Whenever Rudy gets to the point of needing emergency cuddles you better be prepared to never move from that spot again.

Rudy slipped into your office, noticing you were particularly busy. He could work around that. Instead of trying to grab your attention he pushed the chair back slightly. Getting down on his knees and leaning forward to wrap his arms around your waist, forehead on your knees. He closes his eyes, relaxing.

You smile softly, noticing his attempt to not disturb you. You run your hand over his scalp and through his hair. "Hey Rudy."

He hums in reply, not moving.

"I'm almost done and then we can go somewhere more comfy ok?"

Rudy hums again, nodding a little.

Ale in the same sense. But he's at least cuddly in a way that if you need to get up for the bathroom or vice versa then he will let you go. Rudy won't. So better be prepared.

They both care for you and incredible amount as well. Ale was always joyful around you but when you get hurt or kidnapped or anything he's afraid. Confidence going down and nerves working up as he scrambles to do everything he can. He manages to keep it together with Rudy until they get in and find you.

Rescuing you they finally can hug you tightly and hug you in absolute relief.

Rudy unlocked the door, opening it and rushing in, Ale following. Their eyes immediately locked onto your body at the back of the room tied to a chair.

"Querido Señor gracias - y/n!! ¡Estás bien!" Dear Lord thank you- y/n!! You are ok!

Alejandro rushes up to you, kneeling down. He tilted your head, cursing when he saw your wounds. Rudy came over and cut the ropes, gently bringing your arms down.

"There, just relax, we've got you."

"Rudy... Al..." you whispered, looking at them with droopy eyes, filling with relief.

"We're here y/n, we came as soon as we got word. We're getting you home ok?"

They are incredibly respectful when if you introduce them to your family. They trust you and invite you into their family that they invite you down to celebrate holidays with them like Day of the Dead and Christmas. Really any holiday, or special occasion they make sure you get an invitation, whether you can go or not.

"So... you set these up for loved ones??" Al nodded, showing you the ofrenda that they had made for you. "And for you, for anyone you know."

You reach in your jacket and pull out the photo you keep there over your heart, smiling seeing it. Walking over and putting the photo up. "I miss you..." you whisper, seeing the photo surrounded by the flowers and gently flickering candles.

Rudy and Al also having their photos set up of family and fallen close friends.

You were glad you were invited to join in this special celebration with them. It made you feel special and a part of them family in a new way.

Alejandro is very open about his background. Telling you how he grew up, about his family, crazy and funny stories growing up working hard in the military. He always gets a laugh out of you.

Rudy is a little more hush hush about it. While Alejandro doesn't tell you things about Rudy he knows Rudy wouldn't appreciate, it just makes him more of a mystery.

Alejandro teaches you self defense and loves to spar with you all the time. Intense training, casual, he loves it all.

Rudy teaches you how to use a giant police taser.

Rudy has many taser, all shapes and sizes, he teaches you to use them all.

"Are you sure this will actually work on the field??"

Rudy nods. "Of course it will. Just turn it on and-" The taser crackles as he jabs it. "Get them where it hurts. Stomach or below really does the trick."

"Rodolfo!" Alejandro chides him from across the room. Rudy just nods to you. "He knows I'm right."

It's a chaotic, loving relationship you have with them. They do everything to make you smile, happy, comfortable, and they are amazing role models of respect. (most of the time 🤭)

Let's be honest they were the rowdy ones when they were in the military in the younger years and nothing has changed. They aren't called Los Vaqueros for nothing y'know.

So they do become incredibly rowdy. Smart men but you are a little stunned when they are put in a room together they go dumb. They do some wild shit together and often end up dragging you into their antics.

Yes, yes Rudy plays pranks and no one is safe. But instead of pranks he calls them solutions. He rigged air horns in the barracks when the recruits felt like getting up slightly later so 5:30 on the dot they go off in every room. He always can hear it from far away and it's a joy.

He did it to you once. You were pissed at him but this time he managed a smile, playing it off like nothing and inviting you on his morning run around base before it started to really warm up.

Hiking buddies.

Like you can hike with all of them but these guys are the hiking guys. They both have a very good grasp on the nature around them, Alejandro knowing more about the wildlife when Rudy is way into all the plants, fungi, and what not.

Not only is it a beautiful hike in nature but it's also pretty nice to learn some stuff along the way.

Both of them tell dad jokes. It's a rule, they just do. Rudy started doing it a lot more when he realized Ghost also has dad jokes for you and then Al picked up on it and now you're aren't safe from anyone.

Dad jokes everywhere. Rudy's are a little more morbid and along Ghost's lines but Al just had really shitty ones that make you smile.

And there is probably so so so much more that I'm missing right now but I hope this suffices for now. Go out into the world and take a Vaquero with you.

Sunghoon can’t help how he feels. 

Jealousy simmers at the tips of his fingers, bubbling away in his chest. He thinks he might explode if he has to see Chaemin next to you for another second more. 

You’re laughing, and it’s the most wonderful sound in the world, but Sunghoon wants to smash his head against the wall, because you’re laughing, and it’s not because of him. 

Sunghoon was gone for one week, maybe just a little bit more, but he comes back to see you all over Chaemin, and he can’t help but want to throw up on Chaemin’s pristine black shoes. 

Sunghoon scowls as he watches you both, passing comments and acting like you had known each other forever. He was sure at one point Chaemin pointed at him and then proceeded to whisper something in your ear. 

Or maybe Sunghoon was just going insane. 

He watches as Chaemin doubles down in mock pain, an over exaggerated reaction to you lightly punching him. You roll your eyes, making your way towards Sunghoon. 

Your eyes meet, and suddenly the world stops spinning. Sunghoon swears he could get lost in your eyes forever and never complain. 

He knows he has the most dopey grin on his face, ‘goo-goo eyes’, as Riki would describe, but he can’t care, because you’re making your way towards him with the most gentle expression on your face. 

Your face looks over his own, smiling brightly at him. He sees your lips move, vaguely making out what you’re saying. He can’t really hear anything, too immersed in trying to memorise your face. 

It’s not until you snap your fingers in front of his face does he realise you’re calling out to him, telling him something. 

‘Hoon, you good? You’ve been spacing out a lot recently…’ You pout, and Sunghoon thinks his heart just burst into a billion butterflies. 

He laughs, shaking his head lightly. He can feel the heat crawling up his neck, blood rushing to his ears. 

‘Just tired… All the travelling is catching up a little.’ He leans back, head bumping the wall. You nod in understanding. 

‘You should come officially meet Chaemin! I bet that would give you some energy!!’ The thought of meeting Chaemin made Sunghoon want to rip his hair off, but you looked so hopeful, how could he ever say no to you?

He nodded, standing up beside you. You cheered, clapping your hands as you lead Sunghoon to where Chaemin was. 

Your smile is intoxicating as you introduce the both of them to each other, trying your best to break the ice. Sunghoon almost breaks out into a smile, keyword being ‘almost’. 

He can’t help but scowl every time you giggle at Chaemin’s actions, frown deepening ever so slightly. 

The introductions are cut short by the director’s yell, calling you to your places. The 3 of you rush to your places, stage faces taking over. 

Sunghoon would love to say that emceeing went smoothly, he really did. 

It started off fine, the 3 of you introducing yourselves, laughing as if you were the world’s best friends. 

It really was fine until the interviews began, and Sunghoon’s eyes landed on the script. His eyes almost roll out of their sockets as he reads the script, raging at the amount of banter scripted for you and Chaemin. 

The rest of the interviews seem awkward and heavy, Sunghoon’s tensed speech changing the mood. 

Thankfully it gets over quickly. Sunghoon rolls his eyes, exasperated at the result of the interviews. 

He finishes packing in record time, leaving the building as soon as he could. Sunghoon scowls all the way back to the building, drowning in his own head.

Ronance headcanons!!

Nancy once gave Robin a ring and Robin has never ever taken it off. She point blank refuses to take it off and when she's asked where it came from she gatekeeps that information.

Nancy is CUDDLY!! She is so scared of Robin disappearing like Barb did that she literally never lets Robin out of her sight and if she can, she will be touching her in some way.

They both struggle to say 'I love you'. Nancy struggles because of her parents disfunctional marriage and Robin struggles because she genuinely cannot express how she feels ever.

The first time they did the deed they were both so confused and decided that 'whatever happens happens'.

Sometimes Robin just stares at Nancy until Nancy acknowledges it. Then when Nancy does acknowledge it she gets nervous and looks away.

Nancy is a thief. She steals any old clothes that Robin has showed even a small amount of boredom for. Robin doesn't mind, she thinks they look better on Nancy anyway.

The first time Robin saw Nancy in a swimsuit she was not a functional member of society for a solid half hour. This was the same vice versa.

They both equally need reassurance and sometimes get upset with eachother when they don't get it. Robin needs assured that Nancy isn't just experimenting with her and Nancy needs assured she isn't just being used.

Steve was initially kinda mad at Robin for breaking 'bro-code' and dating his ex... but eventually he came around.

If Robin/Nancy were to go missing in season five, the other would FREAK OUT. I feel like Nancy especially would do everything in her power to find Robin in fear it would be another Barb situation.

They have drastically different music tastes but somehow manage to agree on music for every single car ride.

Nancy initiated the first kiss and Robin was genuinely astounded.

They're both equally protective of eachother. If someone makes Nancy upset, Robin will go ballistic. Despite usually being quite chill and laid back, she would definetely smash a car window or slash a few tires. Nancy on the other hand just straight up threatens people who make Robin even the slightest bit upset.

Robin is a major passenger princess for MONTHS until she finally gets her license and then she starts returning the favour of Nancy driving her everywhere.

They are both jealous. Like very jealous.

Something I love about the Mario movie is how is basically squashed any kind of ideas of Luigi being jealous of Mario from the get go that fans have come up/theorized throughout the years.

The whole “Luigi is jealous and tired of living in Mario’s shadow” has no leg to stand on when it comes to this movie.

In fact, Luigi is actively the one singing praises towards Mario, he knows that his brother dreams big and has a big heart, he knows his brother is amazing and he loves him for that.

Does he have low self esteem? Absolutely. But there is absolutely not a single bit of jealousy/envy towards Mario, Luigi loves and adores him far too much to ever be jealous and angry at Mario, someone who means the absolute world to him.

Oh don't you get me started.

Too late, I’ve gotten started. YOU ARE SO RIGHT. The movie did to theories that Luigi's “bitter and jealous” what it did to theories that Mario’s an antisocial asshat.

There are two things I can point to that are to blame for the theories that Luigi is bitter and jealous:

The description of his Negative Zone final smash from Super Smash Bros. Brawl:

"Luigi's final smash. As exotic music plays, he performs a dance befitting a sorcerous incantation. A barrier envelopes him, negatively impacting all in his area. Random effects include getting launched, sleeping, moving in slow motion, tripping, fainting, and losing attack power. This technique is a reflection of the dark side he embraced in his brother's shadow."

2. His characterization in Paper Mario

But there’s like… almost 40 years of games to glean from. You can literally pick and choose whatever you want to form any sort of theory (like a certain internet man did when arguing that Mario is an animal abusing sociopath). But 99% of the games show about as much evidence that Luigi is bitter as they do that Mario is a bad person– none at all. Quite the opposite, in fact.

As for Paper Mario, it's the only time Luigi is directly characterized as envious... NOT jealous. He still loves his brother and sees him as worthy of the praise he gets, but he feels bad being stuck at home, and desperately wants to be brought along for the adventure– to have his opportunity in the limelight. But Paper Mario is kind of its own thing, established to be a separate universe from the mainline Mario games. In the Super Mario Brothers RPGs– which delve deeper into the bros character while remaining more aligned with the classic "canon"– the dynamic is quite the opposite! Mario dives headfirst into danger while Luigi desperately avoids it unless there is no other choice. In Super Mario Brothers Superstar Saga he tries his darndest to not be taken along for the adventure, confident that his brother can handle the task.

But one consistent across the Mario games is Luigi being the underdog of all underdogs; unlucky and clumsy, the butt of the joke, and constantly undermined. Naturally this causes people to get defensive of him– get angry for him, and project their feelings onto the character himself.

But tHEN WE HAVE THE MOVIE!!!!

Nintendo is given a chance to craft Mario and Luigi into fully fleshed-out characters with motivations and backstories, not just plucky videogame personalities for people to project themselves into, and boy oh BOY did they knock it out of the park.

While Mario is still a headstrong hero with a never-say-die attitude and a heart of gold, everything he does is for his brother. Mario has insecurities about feeling small and wants to prove himself to his father, but in the end his love for Luigi is his main motivator. Mario can handle being threatened, made fun of, and told he’s crazy, but if you want to truly hurt him, tell him his actions are hurting his brother. Try hurting Luigi directly, and Mario will tear you a new one.

In return, everything Luigi does is for Mario! Lu’s not the willful ball of determination and gusto that his brother is– he has always been nervous, softhearted, and sensitive, which is why he lets his brother lead the way. Luigi’s not living in Mario’s shadow, he’s thriving off of his confidence! He recognizes Mario as his best friend and greatest source of strength, and will follow him absolutely anywhere.

There is no sense of Mario being treated like the beloved star of the show while Luigi gets the short end of the stick. They are both downtrodden, both learning, and both dependent on each other. It's not just Super Mario, it's the Super Mario Brothers, who equally inspire each other to be the best version of themselves.
