I already joked about it but Rewind and Zephyr are actually really close friends. probably because both of them have really similar backstories, a second class citizens who are looking for their ex. Only Zephyr is actively hunting hers.

So Zephyr is actually really good at math. so team science just steals her because it just saves time on certain calculations.

Self indulgence to help with stress

So uh, good news. I got two bunnies. bad news, this has been the most stressed I've been in years. So for sheer self indulgence I'm going to be writing about this little brain-worm I've had for awhile.

The Orpheus Challenge with Prowl and Cass.

Both of them would fail. straight and simple, they would not fucking pass.

Cass's mother kicked then out of the house at 14. trust issues to the max. if they were to have the opportunity to bring Prowl back, all they have to do is lead him back without turning around. They wouldn't be able to do it. The deal is just to good to be true. they couldn't help it, they couldn't stop themselves from looking back.

If we read way to much into Prowl's backstory, clearly not having a family before Yoketron for whatever reason. And after he left on a failed journey of self discovery only to come back to find the closest thing to a family he ever had dead. that's a lot of issues to unpack there. there's a version of the myth that Orpheus turned around on instinct to help Eurydice. He didn't have a moment to think and stop himself. Prowl already failed two of the closest people to him. He can't fail again. Cass needed help, Prowl turns around before he can stop himself.

That's TFA Prowl and Cass.

And while I'm still only on MTMTE and haven't seen enough of Prowl and have only the faintest idea of how I want IDW Cass to be. Cass in TFA is a terrible influence, I'm talking juvie record and still on parole. IDW would be more like a Shonen hero. A well meaning idiot who cares about their friends, likes simple things like food and is looking for any and all opportunity to throw a punch. Still a bit a delinquent but a little more smiley. And they're dead. but before they died, maybe Cass and Prowl had a positive interaction (one of the rare ones.) and thus Cass decided that he's their friend and thus decides to act as his moral compass via metal pipe to the shin. Maybe Cass was just friends with the rest of the autobots and decided they had enough of his bullshit and decided to beat some morals and values into him via metal pipe to the shin. And it was working. One way or another they got close and he started being slightly less of a dick. And then Cass dies. Think Vlad and Lisa Tepes from castlevania. "I can fix him, and when I die it makes him worse."

Sam being the net of kin is in charge of the funerary services. He goes out of the way so that the funeral is accessible to the autobots. He wasn't close with Prowl before but he extends an olive branch in inviting him into the funerary preparations. He knew they were close and he didn't know how well human funerals would translate to cybertronians. Sam wanted to make sure that Prowl could get closure by maybe offering funerary rites that are more familiar to him. and Prowl essentially left him on read. And that was only the start. Any conversations afterward about them were Prowl either avoiding the conversation or speaking ill of the dead. "They were an idiot and its their own fault they died." Thats what he tells others and thats what he tells himself to burry the overwhelming amount of grief and guilt that came from their death.

Onto whether or not Prowl would be able to pass the challenge and bring Cass back. Why would Cass ever follow him again. That is something he is sure of even if the spirit of Cass is waiting right behind him.

Everything about IDW Cass and Prowl are subject to change as I get more into the comics.
