Superfam Ask Game : ☀️;👽;🔆
Favourite superfam character:
Clark Kent!
Favourite villain:
Mister Mxyzptlk, probably. Who else would manage to get a subtle Calvin and Hobbes crossover into a Superman comic? Also he's fun.
As a more serious villain, Lex Luthor around Lena Luthor's birth. he is SO UNHINGED in a truly fascinating way, but loses points for how often I want to strangle him.
You are tasked to write a comic on one or multiple superfam characters. Which one(s) would you choose?
Clark and Kon. I'd LOVE to write something about their experiences in Smallville and their relationship with Ma and Pa, with a strong emphasis on the fact that Kon and Clark have always cared about each other.

DP x DC Prompt #56
Clark Kent was in the locker room, the last one to finish getting ready for the football game against Smallville's rival: Amity Park.
That's when a dark haired teen came sprinting in, looking around wildly before meeting Clark's eyes.
"Hide me!"

I was talking to an idiot and I need validation.
#superman#clark kent#kal el#comics#dc comics#smallville#martha kent#jon kent#ma kent#pa kent#im gonna rant now. this isnt at you its at the dumb fuck who was commenting on my comment on tiktok.#YES! why the fuck wouldn't he be! he was ADOPTED to be adopted you gotta have the right paperwork in order. the person im mad at LITERALLY#SAID Clark was in an orphanage... lets put our thinking caps! if he was in an orphanage Ma and Pa gave him to the state and yk what! i bet#they thought he was an abandoned baby! no one knew he was an alien. if they didnt he would have been in a govt lab! and in a comic i read ma#and pa thought he was a nasa experiment! yk how they put dogs and moneys in orbit? they thought they did that with a baby! so they took him#ok ok ok then the person i was debating said ma and pa were CRIMINALS!!!!! THEY JUST SAID CLARK WAS IN AN ORPHANAGE!#SO MA AND PA FOUND A BABY. TURNED HIM OVER TO THE AUTHORITIES AND AFTER IT WAS PROVEN THAT HE HAD NO FAMILY THEY ADOPTED HIM!#all of that is legal! they made it sound like ma snuck into a house a stole a child! put some respect on the Kents!#and for why we were debating. he had to have been assigned an ID/ss number/citizen ship because he was to the govt an abandoned BABY#they made it sound like Clark was a 20 year old! he was at best a toddler. he didnt need to take a citizenship test or anything cus HE WAS A#BABY! he was just issued citizenship cus to the govt he was an abandoned baby in the usa WHERE EISE WOULD HE HAVE BEEN FROM!#cus i cant stress this enough NO ONE KNEW HE WAS AN ALIEN! (except maybe ma and pa)#the govt gave an abandoned baby in Kansas an us id cus THEY HAD NO REASON TO NOT BELIEVE THAT THE BABY FOUND IN A FEILD IN KANSAS WASN'T#BORN IN THE USA! and with all the paperwork they did on him they gave him us citizen rights like THE RIGHT TO VOTE#there are a million possibilities for why a baby would be abandoned in a feild in Kansas and it would take awhile to aliens#this is what i think the govt thought 'ok baby abandoned in a feild of a local couple. no family to be found. a young mother probably got#pregnant and didn't want to baby so she left it where a couple who couldn't have children could find them. oh look the couple wants to adopt#let them take the baby.' babys being abandoned was so common that safe haven laws were made to give mothers who didnt want their infants a#safe place to drop their kid off (usually a special box at a fire department or hospital)

Okay but have you considered that if you got isekai-ed into Smallville then now you live in a better Kansas because it's a universe where Clark Kent is real.
Oh good point. A universe where someone like him was real would be infinitely better.
Plus, since Smallville was filmed in Vancouver, we hilariously see that the closest big city is surrounded by water. I am in the closest big city which means I’d finally get to live by the ocean. 😂

One of the funniest things to me about SuperBat fics is how they always think Kansas is like the epitome of Southern Hospitality and like idk morality?
It's not even Southern, and like I'm not sure, a single fic writer has met a Kansian.
Clark wouldn't out right hit on someone? He's from Kansas, and Kansians would never.
Kansians fuck, the only place you can hangout apart from parking lots is eachothers garages. What do you think happens?
Clark Kent is so Kansas that he opens the door for everyone.
If you hold the door for a Kansian, they'll look at you like you kicked their puppy and quoted their SSI to them.
He speaks so formally and polite, it's that Kansas nurturing.
If you say, "Yes ma'am/sir/indeed/my liege/etc" the person may cry then ask what foreign land you're from.
Ma Kent and Pa Kent just decided to raise a good person. They taught him his hospitality and manners. Why do you think Clark was bullied? Because no one acts like him, like the way they portray his bullies growing up is honestly the average Kansian.
I know a lot of polite Kansians, believe me. I'm not saying Kansians are evil incarnate, but the majority are not chill.
This state was still segregated in the 80s illegally. I've met many people unhappy that it was finally inforced that they have to share a side walk with people of color. I've heard many a horror story from Black and Indigenous ppl here.
A town near me was founded by the KKK and is actively lived in by White Supremacists and proclaimed run away Nazis.
There are so many white people here who think it's okay to say racial slurs, and there are so many white people that people of color can't safely stand up for themselves.
Kansas isn't the perfect mannered place people writing fics, and even the comics think it is.
Clark Kent/Superman (even though he's an alien from a different world) represents all things good in humanity. I like to think growing up somewhere hates is common and undisciplined, and more often than not, victims are punished for being victims of whatever the case may be, somewhere full of scornful people. Especially when he grew up in the (20s - 80s depending on the comic run), meaning he saw the society at its worst, at its most vile and corrupt, and he still chose good. He chose to be a good and kind person in a world not meant for kind people.
I just find it funny that people always credit Kansas for his manners when we know it was Martha Kent.

Life update: I got a new job and moved to a new city in a new state.
In other words, I watched all of Smallville and then moved to a town about 40 minutes away from “real life” Smallville. 😄
aka I am officially a resident of Kansas.

Clark "Kansas Boy" Kent Headcanons
As a Kansan, these are entirely plausible, as Clark was raised in southwestern Kansas.
Based on common consensus the Kent farm was both a crop and livestock farm which means that it had to be at least 40 acres. Kent Farm is not a slaughter farm but a breeding and husbandry farm, the livestock being dairy cows, sheep, pigs and chickens. They also have crops of corn, wheat and soybeans. Clark is really fond of the cows and they are very fond of him. When he was little he would sit with the cows in the pasture while they grazed. Having been raised on a breeding farm Clark is no stranger to birthing animals and has done it before.
Clark calls still calls Martha, Ma or Mama and calls Jonathan Pa or sir. Pa Kent loved fixing up old cars and therefore taught Clark how to fix cars and drive stick.
Its been said by some that the Kent's weren't "well off" but I don't think that is really true, I think that they live quite comfortably, they are not spenders but they are not poor.
While some may say that Clark would be a K-State fan I have to disagree I fully believe the Kent's are Jayhawks and I will die on that hill.
Clark loves Kansas City Barbecue and is strong in his opinions on it.
Clark was going to go to KU but got a really good scholarship to Metropolis University.
Also slight side note but I also stand by the fact that Barry Allen was also a KU fan as in many different "maps" of where the cities are Central City is very close to Lawrence, Kansas (KU college town) and so I think that Clark and Barry definitely bond over both being Jayhawks.

everyone and their grandparents: if Metropolis was in the real world, it would be New York City. It's the only correct answer.
me: .....but consider: Kansas. Smallville being a small farm town in Kansas.. really pushing into the farmer and outsider feel for Clark while Metropolis is this big booming industrial city that has long forgotten its farming roots and is so far pushed into the "future" and expanding further that it feel so much more different, Clark would feel like a fish out of water to a more impactful degree.

I fell down a sudden and spiky rabbit hole wondering where exactly in my home state of Kansas the fictional town of Smallville is supposed to be. I checked the DC Wiki for comic book information and got nothing. Kinda pissed me off, because I didn't want to have to randomly assign a plot of land to Smallville. But when I checked the Smallville Wiki (TV series Smallville, that is), I found out that the show gave it the zip code which corresponds to Chase, KS. Chase is in Rice County, which is a few hours west of Wichita on the highways, putting it pretty solidly in South Central Kansas.
And guys.....as a bitch who was born and raised in South Central Kansas, you have to know that we're some characters out here. I can't speak for Rice County, never lived there, but there's this hilarious smattering of accents scattered about the south central part of the state. Some people have that flat Midwestern/Wichita way of speaking, where you can almost pretend they're not Midwestern if they didn't unironically say "lemme just squeeze by ya" so much. But other people have that Rural Kansas drawl that isn't quite as Southern as you can hear the closer you get to the Ozarks, and despite that you'd still be able to pick them out in a crowded room because they sound a touch out of place amongst everybody else. They say "color" like "collar" and talk about "y'all down on Green Street" and they warsh their clothes while they're drawling some pictures. And that's just the way we talk, don't even get me started on the very rigidly Baptist morality and the tense feelings about whether we should even root for the Kansas City Chiefs since they're Missouri's team, anyway.
Armed with this knowledge and context, I present to all of you: Clark Kent who hauled hay in severe thunderstorm warnings as a teenager because fuck, it had to get done somehow and half the time the National Weather Service was just being cautious. Clark who learned to drive at age 12 on the farm and the county sheriff saw fit not to ticket him when he was 14 and took Pa's truck into town to pick up some last-minute ingredients for a birthday cake at the store. Clark who went to Wichita State for a journalism degree and thought Wichita was a big city and complained about the stupid ass layout of the streets between clearly historic districts and newer developments. Clark who got on a domestic flight at Eisenhower Intercontinental Airport and took off for Metropolis intent on getting out of Bumfuck Nowhere. Clark who comes back to Smallville when it's all too much because the city's great, and Lois and Jimmy and everyone else are just as great, but Kansas has the most beautiful full moon nights and not as much light pollution on the horizon, and he can fly through the Flint Hills and pretend he's a kid again and things aren't so noisy and weird and terrifying.

Did Smallville not used to be in Kansas? Because I just read a silver age Superboy comic where he casually mentioned the entire MOUNTAIN right next to Smallville??? In Kansas??? I’m not great at geography but I don’t think they have many mountains there. Did it used to be an all-American kinda situation? Like Springfield in the Simpsons?
