Fun fact! Similar experiences can be had working as an Autistic SLP!
Though the frustrating part is having to explain to the parents "no no, this is part of it...no, it's good for them... let's try *this* instead...I get you're afraid of him getting picked on but stimming is good for him."
A woman came into my work a little while ago loudly complaining about her (perfectly well-behaved) son, saying how he was ten years old and didn't know how to listen, and I nodded along like "yeah I totally remember being that age", and she looks at me and goes, "no, seriously, he's Autistic," and I spread my arms and go, "Hey, same! Twinsies!"
And this woman's eyes. My God, it was beautiful. She goes, "Really? And they let you WORK here?"
And then she turns back to her kid to nag at him and over her shoulder little dude and and I make what I can only describe as the purest form of eye contact I have ever experienced in my life

🪩 Disco Ball- What was an achievement that your OC felt worthy of celebrating? Was it a personal victory or a big impact on everyone around them?
For Avymere and Ivander? (I genuinely cannot imagine an example of something they might celebrate. Really curious about that lol)
Oh damn, I can't either lmao, but there is an answer
Ivander's biggest victory is his apartment. His feelings around leaving his family and working for the BAI are very complicated, so neither of those ever felt celebratory. His apartment, though... That was the first thing he got with his own money. It was the first space that actually belonged to him in any meaningful way. He could decorate it how he liked, let it get a little messy, put together accommodations to help manage his curse in a private place. Hell, just privacy itself was a huge step after growing up in the Montane family. So yeah, Ivander's biggest victory is his apartment, where he can hang all his stupid abstract paintings and walk around with no illusion all he wants. No matter how he feels about leaving his family, his apartment will always be a palpable symbol of freedom to him.
Avymere's biggest victory was helping to prevent an all-out war between Skysheer and Nabafyr. They had to do some cool shit as a spy before the events of MG2, right?
Anyways, rumors had been swirling of a Nabafyrian-backed faction preparing to make a vye for the throne of Skysheer on the grounds of a supposed bastard son of the crown prince having more claim to the throne than the Princess Amera Silverwind. Essentially, while the Crown Prince Ryonar was estranged, he hadn't technically been disinherited yet, even though everyone assumed Queen Naliella was going to appoint Princess Amera as heir once she decided to officially step down, as Princess Amera had been effectively running the country in her mother’s place for some time. Rumors abounded that this supposed bastard prince might make a play on Princess Amera's life, while others argued that no one would ever accept such a stranger as King. It was Avymere who, with some careful digging and a few choice kidnappings, discovered that there was no bastard prince. The rumors had been started by a group of rebels (not the SLP, but a sort of sister group in the capital city) hoping to drive the two nations to war after assassinating Princess Amera, letting them take control of Skysheer in the process. Avymere uncovered the plot in time to arrest many key players and make amends with the wrongly accused Nabafyrian government. This all happened about a century ago and was one of Avymere's soundest victories as a spy.
They aren't a very celebratory type, but some of their guards who'd been involved in the whole thing invited them out for drinks, sort of assuming they'd decline. Avymere did not decline, and though one might’ve thought they were wildly bored all night with their stiff posture and stuffy attitude, they were in fact ecstatic to be included for once - they just have no idea how to act outside of formal situations without a concrete social purpose in mind. Their victory was double: they succeeded as a spy and got some confirmation, in their mind, that the closest people they had to friends felt at least a little fond of them as well.
Yeah, both of these are pretty melancholy deep down, but even when everything else is dark, you take the victories where you can. Thanks for the ask!

How to take control of an uncomfortable situation and make someone back the fuck off according to a speech therapist
About a year ago I was out at a bar with a lovely group of friends, most of whom are trans, gender non-conforming, or otherwise queer, when a drunk man walked up, tried to talk to us, and would not leave despite multiple people asking him to.
Nothing worked. He would not leave. Until I made him.
Afterwards, they all turned to me like I had just deployed witchcraft and demanded to know how I did it. I wrote the following post to try to explain, and now I want to share it on tumblr in case anyone else finds it useful.
The whole experience made me realize how much specific knowledge I’ve obtained as someone whose job involves analyzing the minutia of communication but anyone who works in education will recognize many of these. They are all learnable skills but definitely require practice to be able to use in the moment you need them.
Disclaimer: I am a white, cis, straight-passing (I was out with my opposite sex partner, although I’m not straight) woman and definitely was using this privilege to my advantage.
1) Use honorifics (e.g. “Sir”)
This is a technique I picked up from working with dementia patients, but it seemed to work with someone who was drunk also. The idea is that when you use words like this, you sort of prime the person to act like a respectable human being by speaking to them as if they are one. I'm not saying assholes deserve your respect (they don't), but it can sort of shift someone into a different frame of mind. It sends a message of "we are in polite company and you should behave as such." My fiance used to work at an assisted living facility and one of the patients was a former priest; they would always call him “father” when he was getting out of hand and it did the trick. Think of it not as being polite to them but rather using voodoo to get what you want out of the situation.
2) Use nonverbals (gestures, body language, proximity)
I stood up (so he could not literally speak down to me from where he was standing...or not as much, I'm still very short), I walked closer (sending a message that I'm not going to be easily dismissed), and I also gestured that he should leave in addition to saying it out loud (we process gestures and other nonverbal cues in a different way and I think are less likely to question them than people's words). I think the physical proximity helped him see that I was serious and wasn't going to stop until he left. This is something I probably would not do alone, because it could escalate the situation but in this context he was so outnumbered that I felt very safe.
3) Don’t ask, tell
I said "It's time to leave" not "Can you please leave?" It sounds more authoritative so people are more likely to do as you say. Something we always tell teachers is: never phrase a direction as a question.
4) Tell people what you want them *to* do rather than what you don't want them to do
I wanted him to go away so that's what I told him to do. So rather than, "Don't tell us your joke" I said "time to leave." I also stated this as a fact rather than an opinion: "it's time to leave" rather than "we want you to leave." Again, it sounds more authoritative and harder to argue with.
5) Do not engage the premise
He wanted to tell us a joke and wasn't listening when we said we did not want to hear it. He was starting to try to convince us that we really did want to hear his joke and it would be funny once we heard it. Boundary-violaters will try to engage you in negotiation about your boundaries, convince you that no, you really do want to do the thing that you don't want to do. The trick is not to engage in this negotiation. So I didn't even discuss whether or not we wanted to hear his joke, I just told him what to do calmly but firmly with as much authority as I could muster.

Your ex taps you on the shoulder and says, “I still love you.” You say? ooooof. I don’t think i’d buy that. I hardly think people who DO show they have feelings for me are being truthful, so I doubt that.
Do you play video games? haven’t in some time, but I want to get back into it a little.
Do you spend a lot of time with family? oh heck yeah. I have a really great family.
Is your house more than two stories tall? nah, it’s the two stories with a basement.
Have you ever hit your significant other? Has he/she ever hit you? I will never raise my hands to another human being. I once dated someone who was a veteran and had severe ptsd. we were napping one time and he got aggressive. that wasn’t HIM though.
What makes you an attractive person? (Talk about your personality too!) physically, I suppose I have nice eyes and a decent smile. personality wise, I am warm, friendly, loving, supportive, sometimes funny, very loyal.
What color is your hairbrush/comb? depends which one I use. I have a pink one right now.
What snacks do you have available in your household atm? I honestly haven’t got a clue. I haven’t been let out of my room in 2 weeks.
Has anyone recently told you that they like you, or find you attractive? yes. it’s weird.
Are you attracted to the last person you Facebook messaged? DEF not. he has been asking me out since we worked together maybeeeee.. 8-9 years ago?
Do you care about anyone that doesn’t care about you? yes! I am trying to learn how to undo that. it’s not that I don’t want to care about him, but I know and can soooooooo clearly see that he doesn’t care anymore, and it is extremely emotionally draining to watch.
Was your last Facebook friend requests from a male or female? I wanna say female but idk
Which one of your relatives is most likely to embarrass you? scott
When was the last time you ate a bar of chocolate? couple days ago.
Do you play any games on Facebook? Nope.
What would you like to get a degree in? I have two degrees -- one in psych and one in SLP.
Do you wake up a lot in the middle of the night? ahahahaha yes. almost always wide awake from 3-6
Would you prefer to read a book, watch a movie or TV show, or play a video game? typically more in the movie/show or book mood.
Do you usually get popcorn or soda at the movie theater? Both. nothing like that buttery, salty goodness that obvs requires an enormous drink
What genre of films do you like the best? either make me EXTREMELY sad, or romantic.
How many bank accounts do you have? 2
Have you ever had the flu? Yeah.
What is your goal for the next few months? i have several. the only one that can/will be public right now, is to get my lungs back to functioning as they were.
Have you ever had some kind of sleep-disorder? How did it affect your life? yes. I have very bad breathing during sleep. I have had 11 sleep studies done, because my breathing will just stop randomly, which luckily my brain wakes me. it doesn’t really affect my like severely.. I function normally. but shoooooot, if I got normal levels of sleep i’d be a force to be reckoned with.
Have you ever had food poisoning before? Describe the experience. Yes. It was AWFUL. vomiting for 2 days straight. it was so gross.
Funny, charming, cute, romantic, smart - choose only 2 for the opposite sex. smart and romantic.
Have you ever let somebody use you? Why did you do it? hmm. I think there have been times where i’ve let people have more access to me than they should have had. or there have definitely been times I’ve been used in school groups. But honestly, I tend to be protective of myself. I stop when I feel enough is enough.
You can go back in time & change something in your mom’s past - what is it? I would want either Bill to not die, or for her to be spoiled incessantly by someone else.
Do you know anybody who is around the exact same size as you? Who? psh. no. my friends are all tiny which is just not fun.
Ever been to a haunted house? How scared were you? Yeah. i found it so fun.
Been on any websites today you wouldn’t want your parents to see? ahahahaha no.
Which is worse: dusting or mopping? mopping. i hate doing the floors.

Are you one of those lucky people with 20/20 vision? 20/12 -- the last time I had insurance anyway.
Is fashion one of your interests? honestly, if I had money, it would be. but it isnt right now.
Do you think you’ll eventually find that special someone? It’s getting harder and harder to believe that will be the case. I knowwwww I need to start dating, but every time I go to open up an app, I hesitate and chicken out. I just was so happy before.. its hard to think I could be able to offer anything to anyone right now.
Do you care what people think? veryyyyyy few people. I care about the thoughts of those I genuinely love and respect. However, I still ensure I’m protecting myself regardless.
Is acting something you enjoy? No.
What was the last thing you broke/sprained? I have a bum knee, so I sprain that from time to time. I last broke a finger.

Has a stranger ever yelled at you for your language? No. I don’t cuss.
Whose house, other than yours and your families’, are you most comfortable at? probably either nathan’s or em’s.
Has any of your friends’ family ever yelled at you? alix’s family used to yell at me a lot for being fat. that used to mess me up.
Did you ever play a sport as a little kid? Did you enjoy it? soccer. no, i found the endless running to be unnecessary.
Did you ever watch the show Full House? yup
Is there a celebrity you are just DETERMINED to marry? no, thats so out-of-touch with reality
Have you ever burned someone’s picture? yes, i have.

What color dress did you wear to prom? pink
Honestly, are you jealous of someone right now? oh sure. I am envious of those with bangin’ bods. I’m envious of those who have great finances. I am envious of those who live life married to their love. I’m envious of people who see kile regularly. But there are difficulties that come with any of those situations.

Sumpah cakap. Aku serabut dengan musuh yg suka meniru aku pastu meniru tu niat untuk bersaing. Nak tunjuk dia lebihh. Bodohhh lah. Aku susah payah cari apa yg aku minat. Aku susah nak minat sesuatu. Sebab aku ni kan depressed, pastu low confident. Bila aku jumpa apa yg aku minat, tiberr je dia rembat. Aku plak pantang musuh meniru2 aku. Kalau kawan ke stranger ke aku rasa takpe aku suka sebab rasa mcm orang tu tiru style aku lah etc cmtu kan. Buatkan kita rasa happy. Ni tak. Musuh. Aku ni. Kalau musuh. Pandang muka dia pun aku benci. Tiru gaya dan minat jauh sekali. Memang takla aku nak tiru musuh. Kadang apa yg musuh minat aku terus jauhkan diri. Contoh musuh tu minat kpop korean drama dan minat main peralatan music. So aku jauhkan diri drpd minat korean drama n kpop songs walaupun aku pnah minat. Terus meluat benci. Alhamdulillah dah 10 tahun aku tak minat nak tengok. Aku ade banyak copy citer korean kawan2 aku. Tapi aku tak tengok pun. Sbb ingt nk tengok tp tak blh2 smpai sudah. Lepastu si musuh ni dia ngaku dia yg minat korean dulu . Tapi curi hardisk aku. Habis semua citer aku dia copy. Pastu claim dia minat dulu. Dasar penipu. Aku yg hidup dulu. Mak aku pnah marah kt aku aku ni obses korea sngt knpa bukan paham pun. Masa tu aku darjah 5. Dia darjah 2. Darjah 2 dia tu tngok citer kartun je kot bilamasa plak dia tgk korea. Seingat aku aku tengok sorang2 je citer korea tu. babi claim ckp dia minat korea dulu. Pastu aku terpaksa sacrifice tak tengok citer korea sbb betina tu menunjuk2 betapa obses nya dia dgn korea. Selepas 10 tahun, tiba2 minat anime . Anime da la ade beribu2. Dia boleh obses dengan 2 anime yg aku minat giler. Bodoh bangang. Spoil mood aku. Apa yg aku minat semua jadi tawar. Dah la aku mmg susah nk minat sesuatu. Org depressed mmg susah nk dpt mood ko tau. Once aku dpt minat sesuatu aku rsa bersyukur sngt sbb skurang2 nya hati aku tak rasa empty. Tiber pmpuan tu spoil mood aku cmtu je. Skrg betina tu ulang balik betapa obses nya dia kat citer anime yg aku minat tu. menggelabah. Siap beli keychain la ape la. Pastu dia gunakan adik aku and saje ckp nak bg aku dengar yg dia minat anime jepun dulu sebelum minat korea. Maksudnya dia nak kata dia jauh lebih awal la drpd aku. Semua dia claim. Bila aku ckp dia tiru aku minat korea, dia ckp dia yg minat dulu. Bila aku ckp aku minat anime, dia ckp dia minat anime lama dah. Sblm minat korea lagi. Bodoh penipu. dah tu sebelum aku minat anime kenapa ko tak tengok anime byk2? Knpe ko tak tgk demon slayer sblm aku tngk?? Knpe tgk ghibli movie sblm aku tgk?? Knpe tak tngk anime yg dah kua since awal 2000an, 2010 dah ke atas nape tak tngk??? Npe mesti tgk byk2 anime slps aku tgk anime??? Nmpak sngt meniru kan??? Kimakkk tol. Mcm spirited away tu. tahun 2001 kot. Nape ko tak tngok tahun2 lain??? Knpe ko tngk slps aku tgk??? Pastu saje gunakan adik aku dia nak ckp dia tiru or terinspirasi dgn kawan adik aku yg minat anime. Entah2 betina sial tu tuduh aku tiru kwan adik aku. Pukimak betol. Dia punya bdooh tu smpai dia marathon anime tapi citer korea n kpop yg dia obses sngt tu terus dia tinggalkan. Aku langsung tak dengar dah dia pasang lagu kpop. Tiberr dia pasang lagu jepun ost movie or series pasang kuat2. Bodohhhh. Kalau dia jpop pun aku tak kesah. Ni tak. Ulang2 dgr lagu ost kimetsu no yaiba yg aku pnah pin lagu tu kt post tumblr aku ni n psng lagu spirited away. Ulang2 itu je. Dasar copycat bangang. Aku pulak mmg benci giler klau musuh copycat aku. Untuk bersaingggg plak tu. pastu ngaku dia minat dulu. Bodohhhhh.
Pasni aku berminat nak berlaki, mesti dia sibok jgk minat nak berlaki. Aku ingt lg time aku asik ckp psl bf aku n ckp psl kawin., dia pun mnggelabah nk ckp psl kawin.
Skrg ni aku nak tengok. Apa yg aku tak buat dia tak buat. Apa yg aku start buat, tiber dia dah minat lama. Menyibuk sangat2. Dah la tak suka kutuk2 aku sindir2 aku mcm sial perangai pastu tiru aku pastu ngaku dia minat dulu. Cibaiii.
Mcm skrg pun aku slalu ckp aku minat nak keje office. Pastu dia pun sibuk ckp keje office ni tak best. Tapi dia cari kerja office utk intern. Tahik.

How Bridging Blockchains Unlocks Value and Unites Crypto Tribes
Interoperability is a multisyllabic word for a multi-faceted problem. How do you get blockchains to communicate with one another? Until recently, there’s been no easy way to achieve this, leaving assets isolated and smart contract-powered dapps siloed on their respective protocols. Before crypto assets can take over the world, first they need to escape the valley where they originated, a task which calls for building bridges.
Also read: Bitcoin Mining Industry’s Exponential Growth Just Won’t Stop
The Quest to Connect Crypto Networks
The cryptosphere is often described as being tribalistic on account of its factions’ skepticism of opposing altcoiners, whose ideology differs from theirs. Tribalism doesn’t just apply to crypto culture however: it’s also deeply woven into the architecture of the blockchain protocols themselves. Early civilizations were quite literally tribalistic due to the geographical difficulties of making it into the next valley, where strangers dwelled. Until recently, it was the same with crypto networks: litecoin could only exist on Litecoin, dash on Dash, while bitcoin cash and bitcoin core were destined to remain forever opposed, despite their shared history.
Siloed crypto networks are no better than the incompatible rails that define the traditional financial system, resulting in slow international transfers and high fees imposed by the monopolies that control them. If crypto assets are to deliver financial inclusion for the many, not just the few, someone needs to build the bridges and connect the valleys where the various tribes reside. This calls for complex architecture that can facilitate the cross-chain transfer of assets and enable networks to share resources. Despite the magnitude of the task, significant headway has been made in getting blockchains to “talk” to one another.
Building Bridges With Blockchains
Liquid Link typifies the sort of projects that are currently making inroads in interoperability. Created by Liquidapps, it comprises a framework that enables dapps to be launched on Ethereum and EOS simultaneously, without suffering the usual trade-offs in speed and scalability. Developers have traditionally had to pick one crypto network on which to build, and then persevere with it, come what may. Blockchain migration, while not uncommon, is costly and time-intensive exercise. Through bridging smart contract networks, developers can enjoy the benefits that each protocol has to offer, while retaining the freedom to switch.
Liquid Link CEO Beni Hakak is a major critic of “blockchain maximalism” and has written at length about the need for crypto communities to overcome their petty differences, noting:
Supporters and users of crypto networks have a vested financial interest in the success of their chain, further magnifying tendencies to stigmatize and ridicule ‘outsiders’ of a competing chain.
He envisages a brighter future in which “The capacity to move value seamlessly across all blockchains will enable each one to focus on their core competency.” Although that vision has yet to be realized, there are signs, at least, of cross-chain concord. The more vocal factions in the BTC and BCH camps don’t see eye-to-eye on much, but that hasn’t prevented Sideshift’s Andreas Brekken from creating “BTC2,” an SLP token that operates on the BCH network, allowing people to transact in BTC while enjoying the low fees of Bitcoin Cash. For developers seeking to create similar applications for unlocking value on the BCH network, Bitcoin.com’s developer portal contains a wealth of tools and tutorials.
Wrapped Assets Are the Prelude to Greater Interoperability
Just because two cryptocurrencies reside on incompatible blockchains doesn’t mean the value they represent can’t be traded on opposing chains. In addition to Shideshift’s wrapping of BTC on BCH, wrapped bitcoin (WBTC) can be traded on Ethereum, with the BTC held in escrow. Binance has also got in on the act, introducing BTCB as a BEP2 token that’s tradable on Binance Chain. The trouble these solutions face is that they require a third party to custody the coins in order for their synthetic equivalent to be made tradable on the foreign chain.
The decentralized alternative to this is the atomic swap, in which the coins on each chain are locked, and a smart contract handles the exchange. Despite having been around since 2017, atomic swaps have fallen out of favor due to the slowness, complexity, and inability to perform high frequency, high volume swaps. The Lightning Network uses similar technology known as Hash Time Locked Contracts, but until such a time as LN moves out of its interminable test phase, real world usage of atomic swaps, and variants thereof, will remain marginal. Facilitating seamless cross-chain transfer of assets calls for the creation of components that can connect blockchain protocols, allowing them to communicate freely.
The Interoperability Projects Intent on Helping Blockchains ‘Escape the Valley’
Cosmos is described as an “internet of blockchains” that aims to unite disparate chains through its Interblockchain Communication (IBC) messaging protocol which works a bit like TCP/IP on the web. This “allows heterogeneous blockchains to transfer tokens and data to each other, meaning that blockchains with different applications and validator sets are interoperable.” With Cosmos, for example, tokens and other assets can be transferred between public and private blockchains.
Wanchain is an aptly named interoperability project, “wan” meaning “one” in Scots. Its developers aim to create one chain to connect them all, enabling different ledgers to communicate and exchange value, forming a distributed bank. So far, cross-chain transfer of BTC and ETH assets, including ERC20 tokens, has been achieved, enabling Ethereum dapps to access BTC, for instance.
Polkadot’s whitepaper is grandly titled “Vision for a heterogeneous multi-chain framework.” Heterogeneous is a term that crops up a lot in the esoteric world of blockchain interoperability and simply refers to the unification of two things that are intrinsically different, like water and oil, or Bitcoin and Ethereum. Any type of blockchain data or asset can be transferred using Polkadot’s series of relay chains, parachains, and bridges. Once it launches later this year, BTC, ETH, ZEC, and other leading crypto networks will be united.
The lack of adoption and completion of these interoperability solutions to date attests to the magnitude of the challenge being undertaken. However, just as it seems inevitable that all assets will eventually be represented and traded digitally (in the words of Pomp, it “could take 5 years or 50, but it is no longer a question of if, but when”), it seems certain that in the future all major crypto networks will be interoperable. Whether uniting the chains serves to unite their opposing factions, however, remains to be seen.
Which blockchain interoperability project do you think is likeliest to succeed? Let us know in the comments section below.

Walk in the streets 4:19
A lot that happened yesterday-today and I’m still processing everything. hanging out with friends and strangers, drinking and dancing without chains, kissing a stranger and flying.
Just this street in the center of slp and in the middle of the night…

How online speech therapy is the best choice for busy parents
If you are a parent, you know the importance of having someone to help your child with speech therapy. Speech therapists can be difficult to find and are often booked up for months in advance. This means that it is difficult for busy parents to get the help they need.
You don't have to ask for time off work.
Online speech therapy is a great option for busy parents because you don’t have to ask your boss for time off. You can take the time when you need it and will know when your child has their session.
Home is your child's comfort zone.
One of the best things about online speech therapy is that it's so convenient. You can do it from your home, which is where your child feels most comfortable. If your child is allowed to play with toys and use their own bedding and furniture, then this will help them feel more relaxed during the sessions. If they are nervous about having a stranger in their house, then using an online therapist might be a good option for you.
You'll spend less time in traffic.
The convenience of online speech therapy is undeniable. You can work on your child’s oral-motor exercises when it’s convenient for you, without having to worry about traffic or missing appointments. There are no more long car rides, inconvenient schedules, and no need to take time off work.
Online speech therapy offers flexibility with scheduling and allows children and families to be treated by a certified SLP (speech-language pathologist).
It's easy to schedule appointments.
Online speech therapy is the best choice for busy parents because it’s easy to schedule appointments. If your child is having challenges with his or her speech, you can easily schedule an appointment at a time that’s convenient for you. The therapist will be able to see your child within minutes of the appointment and give them the help they need. You won’t have to worry about finding a babysitter or taking time off work, either—appointments can be scheduled as often as you need them!
Online speech therapy makes it easy for busy families because online therapists are available 24/7 and can work around any schedules that might conflict with regular office hours. This gives parents more flexibility and peace of mind when using this service in their home town or anywhere else in the world where they may spend some time away from home without having their child miss out on important services like speech therapy while they're gone."
You're already paying for an Internet connection.
You're already paying for an Internet connection, so it's just a small extra cost to get speech therapy online. The only additional hardware you need is a microphone and speakers (or headphones).
If you're already paying for an Internet connection, then getting access to speech therapy via the Web is just one more monthly payment. It's like buying an extra pair of pants—in both cases, if you think about it as an expense rather than a luxury item, they'll be much cheaper and more convenient in the long run.
Online speech therapy is quick, easy, accessible and affordable.
Online speech therapy is quick, easy and accessible.
If you’re looking for speech therapy for your child, online services are the best choice. In fact, there are over 6 million kids who receive speech services each year in the U.S., so it’s definitely a popular option among parents. Online speech therapy also has several benefits that make it better than traditional methods of receiving treatment:
Online programs are convenient: You don't have to drive anywhere or wait for an appointment; everything happens from the comfort of your home!
Online programs provide faster results: Your child will complete their coursework at their own pace so they can reach their full potential faster than with traditional programs where classes meet once per week.
Conclusion
The best part about online speech therapy is that it's convenient and affordable. You don't have to worry about taking time off work or finding childcare, and you can schedule appointments around your own schedule. Plus, there are no travel costs involved—everything takes place right in your home! The only thing standing between you and a better life for your child is an Internet connection (and maybe some hard work). We hope this guide has helped answer any questions you might have had about getting started with online speech therapy

24 for the edgy OC ask game?
What is an alternative life path your OC might have gone down? How different would their life be if they'd made those decisions?
I think about this one a lot, since a lot of my characters' paths tend to be shaped by some pivotal choices, so forgive me if some of these get a little long :)
.
If Twenari had never run away from her mother, she would've eventually broken under the strain of being a human weapon and become an emotionless creature very much like Undeta. She would've taken over the Tunnel Wasp smuggling ring and raised it to new heights through her cunning and sorcerous talent. She probably would rule the blackmarket of all Janaz by the time she turned twenty.
If Saius had never been executed and Sepo had never burned the Silver Sovereign's heir and palace, he would've stayed a Singer-Priest, never learning that surface folk are sentient and what the sirens are doing is evil. With his drive and power, he would've become a true terror of the seas, sinking galleons with little trouble. I imagine if he ended up on this path and Twenari ended up taking over the Tunnel Wasps, the two would have an intense rivalry, as they would be haunting the same waters.
If Izjik had never followed that first urge from End, she never would've ended up in the Trench. Given how rare it is for spirits to come to Illaros, she probably would've lived most of her life unbothered by the star demon, as no god or Chosen would come near enough to activate its presence, which would remain rather dormant without that first kill. She would probably become a storied hunter of Edeme’eneha, content to live and love out her days within her swampy home, though she would always feel a vague lack of something in her life.
If Djek had been more willing to kill in service of the Tunnel Wasps, he would've risen much more quickly in their ranks. With his proclivity for shadow magic and fast-talk, he probably would've been trained as an infiltrator and assassin. Unfortunately, I can't see his unstealthy self lasting too long in this line of work. He'd probably get captured and turn coat, only to get captured again, and so on and so forth until he's made his rounds through most of Illaros's criminal syndicates.
If Astra had given up when she learned the Yewbury College of the Arcane wouldn't let her in, she would've returned to her home within the debtor's village, defeated. She still would've been determined to pay off her mothers' contracts, but without access to magic, I think she would end up turning to crime. All those underworld contacts would give her a good network to start something like the SLP she encounters in book 2. She'd probably end up starting a revolution against the landowners in rural Skolan and Sulu'Oku. Unfortunately, I also doubt she would last long in this line of work, though her dream would live on.
If Mashal never took that fateful guard assignment, he would've never encountered Vermir and would've stayed happily with his scouting regiment, protecting Skolan and Sulu'Oku's roads and helping weary travelers. With his older brother taking care of running the household, Mashal would be free to keep at his military career for as long as he liked. I think he'd stay a mounted knight for a long time, only retiring to run the family horse trading business when he hit middle age. There was another knight he was very close with, and though I hint a bit in flashbacks, I think in this timeline, Mashal and Shenlin would be happily married.
If Ivander never violated his contract by leaving his family, he would've never been cursed. Like Twenari, I think his morals would eventually be worn away under the drudgery of very mundane evil. He would end up a perfect Montane, married to a stranger with good connections, and working every day to tie hopeful people to inescapable contracts that would see them bankrupt. He doesn't have the drive to end up as the head of the family, so I think he'd be a very sad piece of middle management.
.
And that's a wrap! A good blend, I think, of worse, neutral, and better. Thanks for the ask!

Blurb
My name is Christopher William Moore and I am an artist. When inspiration teases me, I quickly fall victim to her lure and work relentlessly until I’ve created a thing of beauty. Like making love, leatherwork is not rushed, it is savored. The seduction is complete when I see a blank canvas laid out on my table begging for my touch. I am like a man possessed. Through each delicate caress, each soft breath, I manipulate and form, before releasing her into all of her glory. The scent is heady, almost overpowering. Leather is my calling, my passion, some would call it an obsession.
The magic happens at my favorite place in the world; a place where I escape from the stresses of life, a place where I’m untouchable— my leather shop. The Shop is my fortress of solitude. Anyone who knows me knows this to be true, and no one would dare to upset the balance. That is until a mysterious stranger darkened the shop’s door. He came by way of referral and reputation with a request so intriguing, it instantly piqued my curiosity. When he returned, he brought with him the offer of a lifetime. A million questions ran through my mind when I said yes. Little did I know that one little project was going to change my world, forever.

Liz-O’s Top 10 Gig Photos of 2017: #2
Mike Busch of Stacked Like Pancakes (V.I.Pancake Tour) — Rams Head Live! — November 22nd, 2017 [x]
Real talk time: 2017 was a year that, for the most part, became a long game of the world's worst people having a “Hold my beer” contest. At the same time, 2017 motivated me to start getting out of my head. (I.E.: I thought I'd never be seen by others as “good enough” at gig photography to be granted a photo pass. I also thought my very-rusty conversational skills would just lead me to embarrassing myself in front of friends and strangers alike.)
Once I began to embrace — instead of shame — myself for having generalized anxiety, I was able to gather the courage to seek help for it. The next step was to take baby steps towards facing the fears that held me back. I also forced myself to celebrate the small accomplishments I usually tried to undermine with embarrassment.
For instance, did I walk away from the SLP show at Rams Head Live! dwelling on the fact that, while waiting for the band to come on-stage, I smiled awkwardly *twice* at a fellow photographer in the pit who I quickly realized was Louise Lopez (photog & wife of bassist Will Lopez), and that I should've just properly introduced myself instead to reduce the awkward? (Ok, maybe I stewed on that for a bit. Hi, Louise! I'm Liz-O, and I'm a graphic designer, photographer, TU alum, and… awkward nerd.)
Instead, I went home feeling amazing because I finally accomplished something I'd been preparing for since I first picked up a camera at a gig: I was in the pit! Doing it all for my favorite local band, Stacked Like Pancakes, was the syrup on top of the sweet pancake stack of awesome. *insert pancake emoji here*
(Oh, and that sweet, sparkly PRS S2 Custom 24? Mike makes it sound as sparkly as it looks during every guitar solo.)

𝐂𝐀𝐑𝐌𝐈𝐍𝐄
𝐑𝐄𝐋𝐄𝐀𝐒𝐄𝐒 𝐅𝐄𝐁𝐑𝐔𝐀𝐑𝐘 𝟏𝟗, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟎!!
No strangers. No booze. No trouble.
After finding out the family was under investigation, all eyes were on my not so good ways. For the family’s sake, I laid low, drank less, and avoided trouble. At least until trouble crashed into my life, spilling a full tray of drinks on my expensive suit, and stirring my heart alive.
Isabella was my stranger, my trouble, my addiction. Her eyes captivated me from the very first moment. They stripped me of power, money, and mafia, and only saw a man. She didn’t fear me, or the things I could do to her, but it was like we knew each other from somewhere. Little did I know, Isabella had been studying me long before she walked into the club. She had hours upon hours of learning about my family—about me.
The girl with the familiar eyes was an undercover cop, looking to take my family down. Now, my family is on me for welcoming her into my world. Yet I’m still blinded by my love for her, and the secrets her family left behind.

How often do we make what seems to be an innocuous comment only to have it turn into a complete dumpster fire, particularly online?
Some of it is the medium, as well as the effect of strangers interacting via ambiguous communication modalities, and making assumptions based on incomplete data.
But sometimes, it’s about a different kind of assumption. It’s about a priori assumptions, sometimes referred to as first principles.
Think of it like this: Every time we make any kind of assertion, that simple statement sits on top of a mountain of other ideas that we have already assumed to be true, whether we are aware of it or not.
At its core, some things have to be assumed. At one level, the truth that 2 + 2 = 4 must be assumed. It can’t be proved, but if you’re going to tip your barista, do your taxes, perform an appropriate regression on your study data, or debate Keynesian vs Austrian economics, you’re going to accept that basic mathematical concepts have immutable meaning and properties.
We assign the same level of certainty to all sorts of ideas of multiple complexities until those ideas are challenged. And correspondingly, we tend to assign them the same level of universality. We’ll delve deeper later, but for today, I’ll just leave you with some examples of propositions that SLPs may frequently assume but which are by no means universal.
Communication is meaningful.
Interpreted and applied appropriately, valid and sound interventions will be reproducible.
I will eat today.
Human behavior is quantifiable.
Two individuals with similar capacity and knowledge fund may be anticipated to exercise similar choices.
Most people will do the best they can within their ability.
“Best” in the sentence above has meaning.
Reasonable people will agree on what that meaning is.
What else are we assuming?
