XOXOX
When the Night-Spider webs up all of Doc Ock’s metal appendages before he can strike again, he hadn’t thought his plan through. He just wanted to disarm him, get the old artifact- a cylindrical object with these strange lenses- back, and then finally hand him over to the police at long last.
But he didn’t catch him in time and Doc Ock plummeted to the ground from the third floor of an apartment complex next door to the museum that he stole it from. There was the sound of him crashing into the dumpster below before ending up on the ground.
Standing on the ledge of the roof, the Night-Spider looks down at him, shock freezes him in place. His nemesis lay far beneath him and as the seconds pass, he remains unmoving.
“Oh no… Oh no!” Panic is starting to set in. He hurries down, shooting a web to a nearby railing and slinging down. When his feet touch the ground, he drops to his knees next to his fallen foe.
He can hear his labored breathing through his mask, a clear sign of life.
“Oh Gods, oh no. What do I do? What do I do?” His eyes move from the man’s head to his feet and back, his hands hover. In any situation, he’s always managed to keep a levelhead, but not this time. Both parties get hurt in a fight, but never has either one just plummeted to the ground and then stopped moving. No, something is terribly wrong with the Doc.
“Come on, Spider-man,” he tells himself, willing his heart rate to calm. He can’t take care of him if he’s like this.
Finding some kind of calm in the storm, he moves to remove the mask. As a masked vigilante himself, he would hate it if someone were to take off his, but if he doesn’t remove Doc Ock’s, he might miss a vital clue.
So he takes it off and another shock courses through his system. First there’s a familiar goatee, followed by several other features that are no stranger to him until at last short dark hair reveals itself to him.
He knows this man. He works for him.
All this time, the good Doc has been Viggo Grimborn. His mentor and his boss.
“Oh Gods.”
Everything he’s done and the battles fought mingle with the sickening feeling of being responsible for his pain or worse. Removing a glove, he checks his breathing and his pulse. It’s thready, he needs a hospital if he is to live another day. Pulling it together, the Night-Spider calls for the first responders, lying and telling them that a civilian got caught in a skirmish between him and Doc Ock.
-XOXOX-
That night, the Night-Spider returns home, suit hidden beneath a layer of regular clothes, hood from a hoodie up. Standing on the doorstep, he pulls off his own mask. Breath shaky, eyes watery, and his chest impossibly tight with emotion. He stuffs it in the pocket of his jeans, his gloves in a different pocket, and walks in with his own key.
The door barely closes behind him when there’s already movement coming from the living room. Rubbing in his eyes to get rid of the salty tears in them, it takes only a second for hands to take his shoulder and turn him around.
“Hiccup, darling,” Stoick pulls his “daughter” in for a hug. Hiccup takes comfort in it, leaning into the man’s chest and beard. Today has been awful.
“Hey lass,” Gobber stands behind him, his eyes speak of comfort.
The hug ends as they break apart. A good thing, he was close to breaking. A finger to his chin, his father makes him look up.
“We heard about Viggo. Are you alright?” He asks, his voice softer than he thinks he deserves.
“Just in… shock,” it’s the only way he can describe it. If he is to truly talk about what he feels… no amount of words can describe that.
A tear slips free, he wipes the rest away before they can, but Stoick still pulls him in for another. Gobber reaches over and pats him on the back in support.
-XOXOX-
Viggo suffered massive internal bleeding and several fractures, including to the spine. He has a brain bleed that isn’t currently putting his life at risk for the time being and a slew of bruises.
As soon as he’s allowed to, Hiccup visits him. He sits in the chair at his bedside when he stirs. He’d needed surgery to stop the bleeding in his abdomen, but they’re not sure yet about his spine.
“Hiccup?” Viggo’s voice comes out slow and raw, though there’s no way he could’ve known that he was sitting there, waiting for him to wake up.
“I’m here,” Hiccup tells him, drawing his tired gaze as he sits closer. despite his drowsiness, a smile crosses his face upon seeing him.
“My Dear,” he sighs and grasps his hand, but Hiccup takes his hand back. Viggo has no idea he’s the reason why he’s in the hospital. He has barely begun to give this fact a place, let alone that he’s the real identity behind his alter ego’s nemesis.
“How’re you feeling?” Hiccup asks.
“...Numb,” Viggo swallows and he looks away, guilt eating him alive. He hopes he feels numb because the drugs from the surgery have yet to wear off and not because the spine injury that he caused has paralyzed him.
They won’t know until his doctor comes to check up on him and give him the news.
Viggo must not suspect anything yet, he hasn’t asked him any questions yet.
“You got involved in a fight and” I saw you.’ He can’t tell him that.
“With the Night-Spider, yes. So you know?” He says it so casually, almost like he expected him to find out.
“Don’t look at me like that, my Dear. I know how you must’ve found me, you’ve always been brilliant. Yet I find myself unguarded by authorities. You kept my secret, didn’t you?" He asks, his voice a low rumble. Hiccup nods.
It's one thing when you're out fighting crime and trying to make the world a better place, but when you find out one of your recurring baddies is someone you're close with… Well, it changes the whole game.
"Did he see me?" Then Viggo asks that question and suddenly he's not sure how to answer.
"No, I…" How do I tell you this? "He called for the ambulance, but he left as soon as I came to see what all that noise was about. He didn't remove your mask, I did." And in a way, it's not a lie. He didn't feel like the put-together hero that so many people look up to in that moment. He was just Hiccup then. The dragon nerd. The dreamer. Too scared to be out to his fathers, his professional life, or the world. Whether as the vigilante or who he truly is. Can't be connected to the Night-Spider if not even the genders your presenting line up. And no connection means family and friends stay safe.
Once upon a time, it meant Viggo stayed safe. Until it turned out he's one of the villains and now Hiccup isn't sure anymore who he's protecting anymore. Viggo from the Spider or his loved ones from him.
They've worked together for months now, trying to create biomechanical replacements and other aids for amputees, an extremely personal endeavor for him. How did he not see? How has his boss, genius as he is, not seen through him?
Or perhaps he has. And he's keeping his secret, just like Hiccup currently keeps his?
Viggo takes his hand again, this time it's not taken back. He pulls his fingers up to his lips and kisses the back of them. Hiccup is not surprised, there's been a bit of flirting in the workplace. A “power imbalance” his friends had called it, Astrid and Heather particularly worried. He’s out to them, but they also know that they are the only ones he’s out to and Viggo is almost twice his age.
“Thank you for keeping my secret, my Dear,” Viggo shows his gratitude, keeping their joined hands on his chest, close to his heart.
Hiccup wants to pull away, but doesn’t find the strength to. The last thing he should do now is turn his back on him. Viggo needs him, he has no one else.

My bf sent me this:
I think a Vigcup AU where Hiccup walks into Viggo’s room to find this would be hilarious. (Either maces and talons or chess in a modern au perhaps)

💗 with Vigcup? 🥰👍
The kiss wasn’t unexpected. Where and when it happened was.
Viggo had just returned the Dragon Eye to Hiccup, as was part of their new deal to help each other defeat Ryker.
It wasn’t completely dark, the moon shining behind Hiccup, casting him in an outline of silver.
Viggo wasn’t surprised because, well, he’d been trying to seduce Hiccup this entire conversation. He’d lowered his voice, puffed out his chest, done anything he could to seem appealing.
And he guessed that he was, given that Hiccup was the one that kissed first.
Well, almost kissed. He came over to Viggo, Dragon Eye still in one hand. Toothless made a confused sound, but didn’t move to stop his Rider. Their mouths were close. Viggo could feel Hiccup’s breath on his face.
The younger man looked looked up at him, clearly wondering what he was doing. Viggo found himself reaching up a hand to cup Hiccup’s face. He could feel himself stroking the anger out of his features with his thumb, like he was clay to be molded. In a way, he was: a piece just for Viggo to play with.
Viggo closed the final distance between them. He didn’t kiss hard, not wanting to scare Hiccup away, or scare his dragon either. Being mauled by a Night Fury because he’d kissed someone wrongly wasn’t something he wanted.
Hiccup made a sound at the kiss, but it was a quiet one, one of slight surprise and a smidgen of desire.
Viggo went slowly, but surely, exploring Hiccup’s lips with his own. He felt the tension leak out of Hiccup’s body through the kiss, and he couldn’t help but smile against his lips a little before going back in.
Hiccup didn’t try to stop him when he did. In fact, he kissed him back.
Though it was the eve of battle, Viggo couldn’t have been happier. He was getting exactly what he wanted.
He would sleep well tonight.

You wanted Vigcup? Here's something I thought of. Instead of Viggo staying with the skrill in Triple Cross. Hiccup drags him out of the cave tunnel system thing, with the Skrill following them. Hiccup gets Viggo onto Toothless and they fly back to the Edge, Ruff and Tuff obviously talking about their dragons record and more they should try and do. Viggo is silent, still trying to comprehend what happened, even with four arrows in his back. They make it back to the Edge, Viggo struggling to stay awake, they land and Hiccup gets Fishlegs to bring first aid things. The other riders help Hiccup get Viggo onto a makeshift bed in the club house, because it was closer than Hiccups hut. Fishlegs and Hiccup work to get the arrows out and clean the wounds, cauterising if needed, Viggo is obviously in a lot of pain. Once they are done Fishlegs makes something to help with the pain. Hiccup staying by Viggo, having sent the other riders to bed because it was late. Fishlegs returns and has Viggo drink the tea to help with the pain. Hiccup and Viggo are left in the Clubhouse alone, except for the Skrill and Toothless. The two dragons seeming to be getting along. Hiccup sits on the floor next to Viggo, distracted by thoughts he had had many times before, only heightened with the knowledge of what Viggos back looks and feels like. Viggo notices how silent Hiccup is and sees a slight red to Hiccups freckled cheeks. He questions what Hiccup is thinking about, snapping him out if his thoughts. The younger of the two stumbling over words trying to come up with some kind of excuse, not having been expecting to get caught in this situation, especially by the one he was thinking of. Toothless gives Hiccup a knowing look, as he was the only one who knew about these thoughts Hiccup had, he makes a kind of mocking noise and Hiccup doesn't glare, but tries to. Over a few weeks, Viggo is able to move around on his own, grateful the arrows hadn't hit anything important. Hiccup gets caught up in his thoughts a lot more then before, Viggo always noticing it. Hiccup had moved Viggo to his hut and let him use his bed, while he made a pile of furs downstairs where he slept. Eventually, Viggo corners Hiccup and gets him to talk about the thoughts he had been having. Hiccup tries not to say anything but ends up bursting and saying how he had thoughts of kissing Viggo, cuddling with him, spending time together as a couple, even thinking about being fucked by Viggo, leaving scratch marks on Viggos back, and Viggo leaving hickies and bite marks all over Hiccups body, Hiccups face is flushed a dark shade of red as he refuses to look at Viggo after his confession. Viggo is taken back by this and stands there for a little letting everything sink in. He slowly smirks and gently grabs Hiccups chin, making him look up at him. Viggo then leans in and kisses Hiccup, Hiccup is shocked at first, but slowly melts into the kiss, his hands going to Viggos chest. They pull away to breath and just look at each other. Viggos cheeks have dusted a light red. They end up talking about how to go forward in their relationship. They start dating, the Skrill and Toothless like teasing them when they can. The rest of the riders, except Snotlout, aren't shocked at all that they started dating. Having seen the way they looked at each other. Snotlout, however, is very shocked. And not too keen on the idea of someone dating his younger cousin. (I like to think of them both as cousins. And Snotlout being the older one.) He begrudging accepts it though. Telling Stoick was another story though. The man wasn't happy at all, but after seeing how happy Hiccup is with Viggo, he, also, begrudgingly accepts the relationship.
Oh this was a delight to read, thank you oh my gods.
I love them being domestic and gentle together as much as I love them being awful together. Stoick would be soooo choked they were together too aaaaahhh

As AO3 is down, or at the very least glitchy, I’ll publish the story here, then reblog later once I’ve posted it on the alternate site.
Vigcup Week 2023 Day 1! @vigcup-week
Survivor: A Burning End
The sunlight was increasingly bright. Searing his eyelids. Even in closing his eyes there was still a blaring orange. He took a heavy breath, feeling pain in his side. He was sure he was laying against a solid surface, though feeling his shoulder hanging.
"Keep an eye out! We want to make sure the job got done properly." He heard him shout from the air.
Viggo forced his eyes to stay open, even if the sunlight caused him to squint. There was the urge to run coursing through him, but his body wasn't fulfilling the command. Wanting to stay still, reminding him of the other weight keeping him pinned. Sure, it would take a good effort to push away what had collapsed over him, but that would mean exposure.
Besides, being trapped in rubble was inevitable. That had been their strategy, explosion after explosion, devastation forcing them back. He'd retreated, presuming they would have thought Hunter Isle being the last place standing.
There was a sudden shuffle some ways to his left. He found strength enough to stiffen. And the slight movement must have been enough, because a dragon screech followed some seconds later. He recognized what it meant. There's someone there. The few shadows the fallen debris provided was taken away, and his hand began to slide behind his waist.
"Look where the coward has fallen. Oh but look Toothless, at least he's alive. Not like the rest of his men."
"It had to be you." He said in an exhausted whisper.
"And you're not looking so good." Hiccup responded.
"No, but that's what you wanted. This much destruction, to prevent anyone fighting back."
"Well it was a better alternative to what you wanted. Us struck down from the sky in an inferno, or impaled with arrows." He withdrew his sword. "We struck first."
"It was simply, business."
“Tell me Viggo. Your armies are fallen. You might be the last standing.”
“You can’t be sure of that-”
“That’s what my friends are looking for. How will the leader of the Dragon Hunters proceed?”
His fingers found the hilt as he saw Hiccup approach wielding his own weapon. A sword he knew held the ability to be lit aflame. A worthy weapon of his adversary, but he wasn't appreciating of where it could be embedded.
"You found the other base." He ground out.
"You abandoned your former stronghold. But dormancy was far too out of the question. Both of us were preparing to end this."
"It seems like you've won, doesn't it."
"It really does." Hiccup looked animatedly around the burning wreckage, his eyes easing shut and grinning as the cries of freed dragons pierced the sky. "But you're still breathing. Toothless and I didn't have the luxury of finding your charred corpse. No," The sword neared Viggo's throat, "we get you still capable of acting like you have the upper hand."
Viggo's eyes gazed at the sword, then they flicked back up to Hiccup.
"Do you wish it would have killed me?"
"Now you've left me with a dilemma. You know this wasn't your only base to fall, and how many Hunters you've lost. Perhaps the ones who've fled. We've reached this point of the game, Viggo. The Viking King is the one who has to give the final command to strike down his opponent. When he's sacrificed so many of his people for his own self-preservation."
Then he glanced slyly backward. Looking to the sky, then eyes skimming their surroundings. His head slowly eased back to watch the lying victim, and with a click of the hilt, the sword ignited.
"They don't have to know I found you like this." He said lowly.
Viggo had pressed his head back. Able to feel the heat of the flame inches from the skin of his face. The wooden remains he had been leaning against creaking from the pressure. If the sword was this close, there wasn't a point in begging for mercy. Yes he knew. Knew how many ships had fallen, how efforts to regain supplies had also been interrupted. Figured out too late how the Riders' decimation had been to close in on him.
And in this final stroke, a flamed sword in the hand of a teenager preparing to deliver a searing end.

So we are reading a book in class and it is about a girl who can't understand other people and their emotions. It is some kind of disorder that I can't remember but you can probably google it. And if you are interested in the book it is called Mockingbird. I don't know how to explain the book and the main character, Caitlin. But her brother was shot in the heart in a school shooting and she can not understand why her dad is sad. Nor does she fully understand her slight obsession over the human heart. She has a counselor person to help her understand others but from where we are in the book, she has not made much progress.
Basically I was thinking about anything else besides my homework and I was like what if she just was that clueless about her emotions just as much as other people emotions. Then magically out of no where it snapped into my brain. 2 words. 1 man. Out of all people and fictional beings. Viggo Grimborn. And then Hiccup.
So for anyone who writes Vigcup if you could make any thing out of this
You should.

I love having disabled friends because they’re so much more understanding when I say “my symptoms are getting really bad, I have to go”. Disabled folk are like “yes, please, shoo before you get hurt”. This is an appropriate response. A lot of non-disabled people act as if it’s a huge hassle.

I really wish people would understand that when it comes to LGBTQIA+ identities, "I don't get it but I respect you" is good??? Do not make fun of identities you "dont get". You don't *have* to get it. The human experience is weird and chaotic and that's why it's beautiful

Strange Gifts
Apparently I wrote a bittersweet Valentine’s Day Vigcup fic for @evilwriter37. Hope you like it!
Rating: General Audiences
Pairings: Vigcup, Hiccstrid
Characters: Hiccup Haddock III, Viggo Grimborn, Astrid Hofferson, Toothless
Warnings: None that I would have to mark on AO3, Not exactly HTTYD 3 compliant, Viggo Lives.
Of course, it’s on Ao3 if you want an easier reading experience: Strange Gifts
But also under a read more if the hellsite is more your speed:
It was the winter after they left the Edge, Stoick had thrown Hiccup into the deep end. His days were filled with shadowing his farther in decision making, aiding repairs, wrangling Sven’s sheep that got out for the millionth time (and this time they were not allowed a dragon race). The moments he could get to himself during the day, used to take care of his leg and Toothless’s saddle and fin from the cold, weren’t enough to refresh his mind. As he shlumped into his room, body sagging from the exhaustion of the day, he almost didn’t notice the small bottle on his bedside table. He looked at it, not remembering putting it there, and picked it up, examining it. It was a nicer bottle of ink than he had ever bought himself, he could never justify the cost for a bottle this nice, let alone the quality of the contents. Suspicion grew when Toothless sniffed the bottle and the room, narrowing his eyes with a slight growl, but he never found the source, nothing else had been changed in his room.
A year later, he had nearly forgotten about the bottle of ink. His mind was on other things, mending the frayed edges of his and Toothless’s relationship-- it wasn’t his fault but they both needed to remember that-, making sure the tribe had enough rations to last the cold months that remained—especially if they ran long, getting Gobber to stop being pushy about his and Astrid’s relationship, building a relationship with his mother, keeping Ruffnut from harassing Eret too much, and more filled the list. But when he went to his room, still up the stairs—he couldn’t bear to take his father’s room even though he was told he could—on his table he found an intricately carved comb and case, laid out as if to show its impressive craftsmanship. Surrounded by patterns on the edges of the case, was a stylized Night Fury, missing the left tail fin. Yet, there was no trace of whoever left it. It raised his concerns for a few weeks, with the look that Toothless gave it after smelling the room, not quite furious, but definitely giving the item a suspicious glare.
Somehow, the gifts had followed him to New Berk, the same time of year, another obviously well-crafted item, a cloak pin made of gold that looked nearly woven into the shape of dragons curled around each other. This time, since in New Berk his sense of smell was better during winter compared to original Berk for some reason he couldn’t explain, he could smell a slight amount of ash and ozone. He took it to the other Dragon Riders, explaining that this was the third year in a row, that nothing else had ever changed, but Toothless had always seemed suspicious, and they had followed them. With the smell of ash, he was worried it was a threat, although it was rather expensive for a threat. For the safety of their people, they kept an eye out for clues for whomever must have followed them. They found nothing, not even any suspicious footprints outside of Hiccup and Astrid’s home.
This time, he had nearly expected the item on his table when he came back from his duties. A leather-bound book awaited him, the designed tooled into the leather made him feel like he was missing something, as if he knew what it was but couldn’t bring it to the front of his mind. Inside was details of some of the locations of useful herbs and plants within the woods and along the neighboring islands, although he was suspicious of the gifts still and the writing itself also triggered the nagging feeling as if he recognized it but couldn’t place it, he couldn’t say he was completely ungrateful. They still had much to learn about the area and knowing that Gothi and her future replacement would have the herbs she needed to take care of the tribe’s health took some of the weight off the young chief’s shoulders.
To the concern of the tribe, thunder-snow had come upon their new home, but it wasn’t the only commotion of the day. It had started slow, with Terrible Terrors flocking to Gothi all to familiarly, but over the day, the dragons had found them, as if they missed them too much to stay away even for their own safety. Toothless had greeted Hiccup with a lick all up his front, and Hiccup struggled to even pretend to be mad about it not washing out. The Light Fury had followed Toothless, but stayed away from the people, instead leading several other dragons into the woods. He couldn’t figure out what changed, or why they were back, but having his best friend back made him feel more complete, even as he argued with Toothless that they had to go back for their own safety. Toothless merely made a judging face, nudged Astrid’s stomach incredibly gently, before looking at Hiccup as if he was asking ‘You think we aren’t raising our hatchlings together?’ Hiccup stared at Astrid, question in his eyes, and grinned as she nodded back. It was only as he walked back into their room when he remembered the time of year, only reminded by the darkened silver and ruby pendant, that must have been custom due to its similarity to Toothless. He looked out the window, wondering if he could see any trace of who left it, and once again was met with nothing. But when he looked at the sky, he could have sworn he saw the shape of a Skrill with a person on its back illuminated by the lightning. The pieces clicked in his mind, the reason everything was so obviously expensive, well-crafted, the familiar handwriting-- if a bit changed, the familiar patterns, and why they had smelled faintly like ozone when he noticed it. He couldn’t be certain, he had never actually seen a trace of the man—he kept his word, but he knew.

In that case, please do enlighten me on the naga Vigcup fic! 👀
Heheh of course! I’ve actually nearly finished this one so hopefully I’ll have it published at some point soon!
Basically Hiccup is still an outcast since nothing happened with Toothless in his AU, but he’s found his place as a strategist. Still, he’s not quite accepted and has gotten used to being alone. When going to another island with Stoick, he needs a break and wanders the forest where he’s stalked by Viggo, who is a Naga-type creature.
They talk for a little bit but he reveals himself in a bit of a forceful way that scares Hiccup. Then a little chase happens before more explanations and eventual nsft stuff happens. There’s not a whole lot of plot since it’s mainly focused on that but writing stories set in the woods with a scary feel to them is so fun to do.
Viggo is also pretty cool, most of his inspo comes from slitherwings since they are like snakes but also a little bit of Skrill influence too obviously! Also when researching Naga’s sometimes are depicted with powers regarding storms and lightning which is very fitting, and sometimes they horde/guard gold and all that i thought it fit Viggo quite well too. He definitely wants to add Hiccup to his stash of treasures hehe! I tried to portray Hiccup in a somewhat gothic heroine-y type way while still retaining his character too. I don’t know if it’s the best AU to do that in, I reckon a longer gothic tale would be easier to have the vibe but I gave it a go nonetheless! (And yes Viggo is both the monster and the temptress archetype, both are also kinda Byronic Hero’s too, Viggo a little more lol). And thanks for the ask!

Hypnosis - Vigcup?
Eeee yah that one I’ve got vague little bits for but it branched off from my Naga Viggo story (that’s also a Wip lol) and got distracted looking at Pokémon. That’s when I started reading up on Hypno and then the two together reminded me of the snake from jungle book. That kinda sparked the ‘huh Viggo should hypnotise Hiccup’ spiral and so Viggo is this monster thing that’s based off Hypno, but not a Pokémon, more just like an urban legend humanoid. He also doesn’t really have the dream eating thing but honestly that could be another cool concept I think.
Hiccup is wondering down a path while on a mission to deliver produce to different villages (probably shedded dragon scales), and Viggo offers to help him, which Hiccup gladly accepts. Viggo is basically scrutinising whether Hiccup is really worthy pray since he feeds off of mental abilities. Seeing Hiccup’s intelligence (despite the naivety when it comes to stranger danger), he decides that Hiccup is worthy.
It’s a smut fic with Viggo using his powers to hypnotise Hiccup into wanting him, it’s definitely dubious consent at best but Hiccup does end up enjoying it even though he was drained by the end (in many ways). It’s a slow process and over the course Viggo is genuinely just enjoying Hiccup’s company more and more. Hiccup is his own form of manipulator even if it isn’t intentional tbh. It’s fairly power-bottom Hiccup but Viggo is still pulling the strings a lot. The twins also have a bit to do with it all behind the scenes lol.
I also picture Viggo to have some sort of pendulum that changes shape to match a person’s interest and calm them, so for Hiccup he is seeing a figure of Toothless which makes him feel safe. Viggo also maybe gets a few snapshots of Hiccup’s thoughts during the whole thing which intrigues him further and ultimate makes him decide not to outright kill him, although I’m still on the fence about that! Or even some about Astrid and using that too but, again I’m not entirely sure if I’ll do that. Thank you for asking!

Wip Wednesday - From Vigcup Week Day 5
"You know, my dear, for someone who's missing his left foot, you seem to have two of them."
Hiccup, trying his best not to collide with his partner, quirked his eyebrows. “What does that even mean, Viggo?”
Viggo huffed a laugh, holding onto Hiccup’s hands. “It means you’re a terrible dancer.”
“I am not!”
“Darling, my toes are bruised from your prosthetic hitting them.”
Hiccup froze, pausing their dance, a blush creeping up his cheeks. “Um… Astrid never told me that… Or Snotlout, or Fishlegs, or--”
“They were trying to preserve your feelings.”
Hiccup frowned at that. “I can see you’re not.”
“This is our wedding dance.” Only now did Hiccup sense a slight tremor of anxiety in Viggo’s voice. “It has to be perfect.”
Hiccup sighed, trying to diffuse his anger.
“Are you nervous about it?” he asked instead of showing said anger.
Hiccup and Viggo were in the Mead Hall, completely alone, light from the central fire and torches casting long shadows on the stone walls.
“Me? Nervous?” Viggo sounded incredulous.
Hiccup raised an eyebrow, not believing him one bit.
Viggo said nothing, tight-lipped.
“You know, I’m your fiancé,” Hiccup said. He squeezed his hands. “You can be open with me.”
“I… forget sometimes.” Viggo let go of Hiccup’s hands, leaving Hiccup feeling slightly abandoned. And worried.
Viggo turned away, rubbed his hands over his face.
“If this isn’t perfect…”
“So what?” Hiccup asked with a shrug. He didn’t completely understand Viggo’s anxiety. Yes, their wedding was a big deal, but the first dance didn’t have to be.
“Well, your father already doesn’t like me,” Viggo pointed out, turning. “And what if this going wrong just proves as some sort of omen of… of a bad marriage?”

Vigcup Week 2023 Day 2
Freedom Comes on Violet Wings
Prompt: Dragons
Rated: teen
Warnings: none
Pairings: Viggo/Hiccup, Hiccup & Toothless
Word count: 2,702
Summary: Continuation of Day 1. Hiccup helps Viggo train the Skrill.
The air was crisp, but bitterly cold. Parts of the calm sea were covered in ice floes. The wind whipped this way and that, almost rising to a shriek in some places, like a Night Fury in distress.
Luckily, Toothless was in no distress. He, Hiccup, and Viggo were flying towards the last place they'd found the Skrill, and Toothless didn't seem to mind the extra weight of another rider and that rider's wheelchair. They'd strapped it on tightly so as not to lose it. It was an invention of Hiccup's that had taken him long to make, and it was valuable to Viggo and his mobility. Losing it would be horrible.
Viggo rode behind Hiccup, his immobile legs strapped to Toothless as a form of holding on, and his arms were wrapped around Hiccup's waist. It had taken some help from the other Dragon Riders to get him in the saddle, and Fishlegs had been the one to give him the final boost up.
Viggo liked flying with Hiccup, even though he couldn't hang on with his legs himself, even though it was a process to get him in the saddle.
It made him feel free again.
Because, with his injury, he felt anything but free. He couldn't move his body from the waist down, and he had chronic back pain from the arrows. One had struck directly into a nerve, and now, all that nerve knew how to do was scream.
But Hiccup helped him. He had helped him and was continuing to do so. It wasn't out of a sense of duty or loyalty.
It was out of love.
"Are we almost there?" Viggo asked. He was having a good day pain-wise, but it felt like he had fog in his brain. Thinking was like slogging through mud, so he wasn't quite sure how far away from the Skrill's island they were. He recognized some of their path, but not all of it. It was hard to concentrate.
"Yeah," Hiccup responded. He twisted around to look at him. "You feeling okay?"
"Chipper," Viggo responded. And he was. Today was an exciting day.
Hiccup was going to try to help Viggo officially train the Skrill. They'd bonded closely during the mission that had rendered Viggo paralyzed, and Hiccup wanted him to have a dragon of his own.
Viggo didn't want to admit it, but he wanted a dragon of his own as well. He felt a slight twinge of jealousy over the bond Hiccup had with Toothless, and the Riders with their dragons. He hadn't realized just how close they were until he was living among them. The bond was amazing. It was like they were married to each other's souls.
Viggo didn't know if he had that in him. It was only recent that he'd gotten true feelings for others. It was like Hiccup had flipped some sort of switch in him. He'd gone from uncaring, unable to connect with anyone, just seeing them as pieces to be used rather than human beings with their own lives--to caring deeply about someone, and learning to care about others. He didn't feel cold or asocial anymore. He felt real human connection for the first time in his life, and it was incredible.
But could he gain that sort of deep connection with a dragon?
He hoped so.
"This is the one!" Hiccup let him know as he directed Toothless to angle downward for a landing. The island looked quite different when not in the middle of a blizzard.
But still, it was cold, and Viggo adjusted his thick leather gloves on his hands. Getting frostbite was the last thing he wanted.
Toothless landed rather lightly on the frozen ground, not wanting to hurt either of his disabled riders. Hiccup got off, and then he stood there for a moment, hands on his hips.
"What are you thinking?" Viggo asked.
"That you should probably stay on Toothless till we find the Skrill. The terrain wouldn't be good for your chair."
Viggo nodded. That made sense. He also didn't want to tire himself out rolling the chair along himself, or tire Hiccup out by having him do it. Luckily, Viggo still had a great amount of strength in his arms, and pushing himself in the wheelchair wasn't hard at all.
Physically, at least.
Mentally, he wished he could still be walking, that he could use his legs like anyone else. He was grieving what he'd lost, just like how he'd grieved the loss of sight in his left eye.
Life had not gone easy on him, had it?
They headed into the forest of pine trees, the wind rustling them from side to side, making the pungent odor of the trees drift around them like a fog. It was a nice smell. Viggo liked the scent of pine quite a lot.
"How are we going to find the Skrill?" Viggo asked as they traveled.
"Well, I found footprints," Hiccup said. He pointed to the ground, and Viggo realized they were following a trail. "Maybe once we get closer, he'll recognize you're smell." Hiccup paused, put a hand to his chin. "Or... she. I didn't get a good look at anything, if I'm being honest."
Viggo chuckled. "I'm sure they will find us then, if we're already tracking them."
Hiccup nodded, and they continued on through the trees.
After some time, a very familiar screech reached their ears, and the beat of wings came from above. They looked up to see the Skrill descending.
"She," Viggo said. After years of dragon hunting, he was good at telling the sex of the beasts.
Hiccup nodded in agreement. "She."
The Skrill landed in front of them, folding her wings and sniffing the air. She appeared rather calm and curious.
"Let's get you off Toothless," Hiccup decided. "That okay?"
Viggo nodded. He wanted to be as close to this dragon as possible.
So, Hiccup came over and began undoing the straps that held the wheelchair to Toothless' back. Once that was down on the ground, he went to undo Viggo's. The Skrill was circling around them a little, but not in a threatening manner. She was merely curious to be seeing them again.
Viggo felt better once he was in his chair. He rolled himself over to the Skrill.
"She remembers us," Viggo said, seeing the intelligence and recognition in her eyes. He smiled, but then it dropped. He realized that this territory was all new for him. He was completely lost on what to do next. "Now what?"
"Well, she'll need a name," Hiccup said. "And you have to show her that you trust her."
"Elding," Viggo said with no hesitation. He turned from Hiccup to look at the dragon. "Yes, I think that shall do nicely." He'd been thinking about her name since Hiccup had brought up the idea of bonding with her. "How do I show her that I trust her?" Because he did. This Skrill had helped him: she was the reason he was alive as much as Hiccup was.
Hiccup came close, took Viggo's hand in his, and pulled off his glove. The air nipped at his fingers like teething Terrible Terrors.
Once his hand was uncovered, Hiccup had him hold it out to Elding, palm open towards her.
"Wait, I need to touch her already?"
"It'll work," Hiccup said. "I promise." He let go of Viggo's hand, leaving the next movements up to him and Elding. He met her gaze, and then her eyes drew towards his hand. She came close, sniffed him; he felt her hot breath glide over his fingers.
Viggo waited with baited breath. He wondered if he would have to make the first move, but how would that show trust? No. He had to wait for Elding.
Viggo breathed out a huge breath as she stepped forward and pressed her snout against his hand. He was familiar with the feeling of scales, but not necessarily on a living dragon. This whole experience was new to him.
He found himself smiling, mouth open, teeth showing. His and Elding's breath fogged in the air together, intertwining.
This would work.
Viggo would have his own dragon.
---
It was two weeks later that Elding let Viggo onto her back. It had been difficult getting her back to Dragon's Edge, and she lived more secluded from the other dragons. At first, she hadn't slept near Viggo even, only present for meal times and bits and pieces of training.
That had changed, however, as she and Viggo grew closer. The night before, she'd dared to come into Hiccup and Viggo's shared hut and sleep near the bed. She was confused by their kissing, and Viggo and Hiccup had laughed at her watching them.
They'd figured that that morning would be perfect to get Viggo onto her back.
It was the same process that they used with Toothless, and Fishlegs had to help again. Elding was a little wary around the other Dragon Riders, but was growing used to them and their dragons as well.
Elding let them saddle her with the custom saddle Hiccup had made, let them strap Viggo's legs onto her. She seemed nervous and twitchy though.
"It's alright, Elding," Viggo said in his best soothing voice. He rubbed a hand along her neck, and she made an odd humming sound that Viggo had learned was her way of showing pleasure.
"You guys make a good match," Astrid admitted, arms crossed.
The Riders had come to help out and watch. They had begun to drop their animosity towards Viggo, though Astrid still clung to hers rather tightly. Viggo didn't blame any of them for their feelings towards him; he'd done absolutely terrible things to all of them.
"Hiccup, you sure you shouldn't have given him a Gronckle like Dagur?" Snotlout asked. There was a bit of disdain in his tone.
"I think Elding is right for him," Hiccup said, tone firm. He patted her neck confidently. "Viggo, you ready to fly?"
Viggo gripped the handholds on the saddle. "I think so."
Hiccup smiled. "Good." He went and mounted Toothless, who was literally wiggling with excitement. "Let's go."
Toothless took off, and Viggo didn't have to do anything to make Elding do so as well. She took the cue and was in the air.
Viggo bent over Elding, holding on tightly. He was having a bad pain day with his he back, but he couldn't miss this opportunity of Elding putting her trust in him.
Once they were high up, the trees on the Edge specks beneath them, Hiccup spoke.
"I'm sorry about Snotlout. He can be kinda mean sometimes."
"Nothing I can't shake off," Viggo said. He looked down below. He was used to being this high up now, after flights with Hiccup, but it was exhilarating to be the one in control.
It was frightening too.
"Don't look down," Hiccup directed. "Watch me and Toothless. You can't direct Elding with your legs, so you'll have to use your arms."
Viggo nodded. Hiccup turned and began flying, pulling Toothless in an arc to the right. Viggo was grateful for Hiccup taking his partial blindness into account. Flying to the left would be difficult for him.
The flight was silent as Hiccup flew along ahead of Viggo, looking back every once in a while to make sure he was copying his maneuvers. Viggo was a little shaky at them, not performing them as smoothly as Hiccup, but who could blame him? This was his first time riding a dragon of his own!
And it was incredible. The wind whipped around him like he was dashing through shards of ice, but the cold didn't matter. He felt free, like he wasn't tethered to his body or the earth, trapped like he had been since the mission.
That was how Viggo had felt: trapped. He couldn't do things on his own, not the way he had before. He needed help with some of the smallest things, and some of the most intimate things. Luckily, Hiccup didn't seem to mind any of it. It had been awkward at first, of course, when Viggo had needed help relieving himself, but now, it was just part of their daily routine.
He felt trapped in a scarred body that wanted nothing more than for him to suffer. His back hurt, his face hurt, he couldn't walk, he could only half see...
But none of that mattered right now. Right now he was flying. Right now he was free.
Viggo did something he hadn't done since he was probably twelve... He whooped with joy! He urged Elding to go faster, and pulled up beside Hiccup. The longer he was out here with Hiccup and Toothless, the more confident he felt on Elding's back. It was like she could anticipate his movements. It was incredible having a living being beneath him that could fly and free him.
"It's awesome, right?" Hiccup asked, a huge smile adorning his beautiful face. His cheeks and nose were red from the cold. Viggo wanted so badly to kiss him.
"Incredible," Viggo breathed. He pet Elding on the neck, and she looked back at him. If dragons could smile, or at least give the idea of a smile, she did. She was happy with him, and that made Viggo's heart soar.
"Well, we can't stay out here forever," Hiccup said sadly. He looked back at Dragon's Edge. They'd gone rather far over open ocean. "I can't feel my nose."
Viggo laughed, lifted a hand to check if he could feel his. Nope. Nothing. Heading back inside and resting near a warm fire would be a grand idea.
"Your nose is cute," Viggo told Hiccup, and then he pulled Elding around in a turn to the right, and headed back for Dragon's Edge.
---
Viggo sat in front of the fire in the clubhouse, his back resting against Elding. He was on the floor rather than a chair, as Elding had wanted to come in with him, clearly wanting to be close to him.
For now, it was just Hiccup, Toothless, Elding, and Viggo in the clubhouse. The rest of the Riders were out doing other things. Unless they'd patrolled today, they hadn't felt the bite of the winter air so high up.
Viggo held out his hands to warm them. It felt good to gain feeling back in his nose and fingers. For a brief moment, he thought that the feeling would come back in his legs as well, that they were just numb from cold and not from a horrible injury that he'd never truly recover from.
But still, he couldn't feel them, couldn't move them. At least Hiccup had helped him arrange them comfortably so that his back wasn't hurting as much. He'd also made him some willow bark tea for the pain.
"Hiccup."
"Yes?" Hiccup looked up from the book he was reading. Viggo beckoned him over with a hand, and he sat beside him, snuggling close and resting his head on his shoulder.
"That's better," Viggo breathed. He rested his head against Hiccup's, wrapping his arm around him.
For a few moments they were silent, just breathing together, enjoying each other's company.
"What did you think of flying?" Hiccup asked.
"It was amazing," Viggo said. He smiled. "I adored it."
"Good." Hiccup snuggled closer, wrapping both his arms around Viggo's waist. He was nice and warm against him. Elding grunted, then wrapped her tail around the both of them.
Toothless rumbled from across the room, while Viggo was still looking at Elding in awe.
"Of course you can join us, bud!" Hiccup exclaimed. "Wouldn't be a proper cuddle pile without you, now would it?"
Making a chortling sound that was close to laughter, Toothless padded over, and laid down in front of them, curling himself around them, his tail almost wrapped around Elding's. The two had grown close just as Viggo and Elding had.
"Thank you, Hiccup," Viggo said after some time, squeezing him tight. This was probably the most relaxed and happy he'd felt in his entire life.
"For what?"
Viggo kissed him on the top of the head. "For everything."

XOXOX
For as long as he’s been here, Viggo has been a mystery to Hiccup and he figures he always will be. One moment, the man has all the patience in the world for him and seeks to tutor him personally. The next, Hiccup is a stain on his existence. It’s a confusing dynamic that they have, one he doesn’t appear to have with anyone else in this castle.
“Take something and focus your magic for once in your life. Try the spinning top, maybe a child’s toy will finally help you grasp the basics!
Clearly, Viggo has never met an actual child before. But it is the reason why he had to go all the way down into the dungeon- now a place where artifacts and other nick-nacks are stored- to grab a child’s toy that hasn’t seen the light since the 1800s to practice his focus on. Because the key to a successful enchantment is focus, something Hiccup severely lacks. He blames the neurodivergency.
It’s lunchtime, but instead of taking a break, he’s taken the toy with him to the dining hall, where he sits at the table and, in every sense of the word, embarrasses himself in front of his newfound friend group.
“Oh, come on! Work with me here!” Hiccup moans in annoyance as he spins it only to watch it come to a slow stop, dashing whatever little hope he has. The point is to keep it spinning. Spinning, spinning, spinning, and spinning, for however long his concentration lasts. Endless motion.
Snotlout snickers. “This is just painful.”
Astrid kicks him underneath the table, he jumps and spills his soup. Ruffnut protests loudly when some of it splashes onto her pile of sandwiches.
“Maybe you’re not saying it correctly?” Fishlegs gently offers.
“Uh, Mr. Amazing over there? Mr. I’m-Awesome-At-Everything-I-Do? I thought he didn’t need to incant stuff?” Snotlout comes again as he uses his one napkin to clean it up. “No magic outside of class,” Viggo always says, but he’s pretty sure that rule only applies to him and the twins.
“Maybe you lack intent?” Astrid offers.
“I’m not sure what other intent besides “spin you stupid thing!” I can give it. I’m intenting the crap out of it! I’m going to be stuck at the basics forever,” Hiccup deflates.
Snotlout snickers again. “All the power in the world, still sucks.”
“Don’t you have soup to clean up?!” Astrid asks him, arms crossing.
“Uh, and who’s the reason I have soup to clean up?”
“Just go grab more napkins. Maybe it’s your unbelievably loud slurping that keeps distracting him,” she crosses her arms and Snotlout sends her a glare.
But it’s true. Partially. Hiccup can’t focus in the dining hall, but he couldn’t focus in the classroom either. There was this fly that kept buzzing around the room, coming close and then flying out of reach. His senses have always felt like they’re dialed up to 11, that’s just how his brain works, but it’s ten times worse when he’s trying to focus his magic on anything.
Hiccup brings his attention back on the top. Instead of spinning it beforehand, he lets it lie and tries to make it move that way. His fingers press against his temples, elbows on the table, as he glares at it as if it’ll help.
But the table doesn’t remain quiet, Snotlout gives him a glare and snickers before Astrid kicks him.
“Maybe it’s your nagging.”
“Maybe it’s your face!”
“Maybe it’s your face!”
“Maybe you should just shut up, Snotlout! As a matter of fact, stop breathing! Just stop breathing in my general direction so I can finally concentrate!” Hiccup snaps at only one arguing half. It’s true that Snotlout’s constant slurping was also throwing him off. He knows he was doing it on purpose, he likes to make things hard for him.
Hiccup focuses back on the top, willing it to spin, but still nothing happens. He doesn’t understand why. He can feel the magic in his veins thrilling, reacting to his command, so why won’t the top just do as he asks?
“Hey-” Astrid comes.
“Astrid, not now,” what if he just glares really hard? Maybe that will help.
“No, seriously, you need to stop.”
“And I need every noise in the world to stop.”
“H-man, look at what you’re doing!” Tuffnut comes, sitting directly across from Snotlout.
“No, look!” Fishlegs yells and Hiccup just barely avoids a soup bowl thrown at his head.
Now standing, he looks at Snotlout to find his hands around his throat in a struggle. He makes no sound as he’s not getting any air. He’s not even choking, he’s simply not breathing.
“Hey, come on, man! Stop!” Ruffnut yells at him, also rising to her feet.
“I-I-I’m- I’m not-”
“Yes, you are!” Astrid states as she stands and grabs Hiccup’s hands. “Come on, you can do this. Just break your hold on him.”
“What do you mean “just break my hold on him?” I have no idea how I’m even doing this!” Comes Hiccup’s panicked reply.
In a frenzy, Snotlout jumps up from his seat and slams a fist on the table. He looks like he’s trying to make his lungs work, but it’s as if they’ve forgotten how to. Others in the dining hall watch them, whispering.
“Come on, Snotlout, breathe. Just breathe,” Fishlegs comes over and throws an arm around him. Ruffnut stands on his other side while Tuffnut kneels in front.
“Just do what we do!” He says as he and his sister breathe in and out in an exaggerated manner.
“None of that will help! The spell needs to be broken!”
Hiccup looks at each of his friends, panic causing his heart to race. He can’t focus, he can’t break anything.
And there Astrid goes, out the door. Saying something about Viggo, she bolts as fast as her athletic legs can carry her.
“Come on, man! You’re the one doing this!” One knows they’ve messed up when even Tuffnut is seriously mad.
“I don’t know what I’m doing!” He yells, hands in his hair.
Snotlout’s face turns a deep blue, he pounds on his own chest, but still his lungs won’t work. In Fishlegs’ arms he goes limp.
“Snotlout, no!” he yells, holding him up. All Hiccup can do is watch on in horror. “Hiccup, just stop!”
Hurried footsteps enter the dining hall. A large hand settles on Hiccup’s forehead from behind, the owner mutters an incantation about sleep, and his consciousness fades. Eyes rolling back, legs going limp, Viggo catches the young man and gently lowers him to the floor.
A dramatic gasp fills the dining hall, Snotlout finally takes his first breathe in what feels like an eternity. Without the strength to stand on his own two feet, he hangs onto Fishlegs sluggishly, barely conscious himself. Relief sweeps through the hall.
“Now would someone be so willing to tell me what in the Hell happened here?” Viggo is beyond angry, as he usually is whenever something of this magnitude goes wrong.
No one answers simply because they don’t know how to. They were eating, there was some banter and arguing, and the next thing they know Hiccup was passively choking the life out of Snotlout.
Viggo breathes through his teeth, realizing that his students don’t quite know how to answer that.
“Fools, all of you,” he mutters before taking off his dark blue vest to fold up and place beneath Hiccup’s head. It shouldn’t take too long for him to wake up.
Fishlegs helps Snotlout sit on a chair as he catches his breath. His lungs are burning, his body is weak, and the most terrible headache he’s ever experienced pounds inside his skull.
“He was… trying to kill me!” He gasps, a hand still on his chest.
“He wasn’t trying to kill you,” Viggo bites back at him. He was nose deep in a book when Astrid came bursting into his room and disturbed his peace.
“Sir, what did happen?” Astrid asks. She figures they’re all dying to know. How could Hiccup just enchant Snotlout like that and how did his hold on him not break? He was panicking just as much as the rest of them, probably even more so.
“Isn’t it obvious?” Viggo asks. “Our dear friend focused his magic on the wrong target. And instead of breaking his hold, his panic strengthened it.”
In a way, it makes sense, or so they suppose. Heavy emotions can make or break a spell.
“Take Snotlout to the infirmary. I’ll wait for him to awaken,” their mentor orders, referring to Hiccup, and they listen. While Fishlegs and Tuffnut take their shaken friend away, Astrid and Ruffnut are urged to follow. Astrid shoots a glance at Hiccup behind her.
In time, the entire dining hall runs empty of guests, leaving just the two of them.
It takes a couple of minutes longer, but Hiccup eventually comes to. He’s understandably sluggish as he awakens from a brief sleep put upon him by magical means.
“Viggo?” He’s confused to see him at first, but as the events preceding his passing out return to him, he sits up in a hurry.
“Snotlout! What-what happened to him? Is he- is he okay?!” He asks his mentor, who raises a hand to silence him.
“Snotlout was taken to the infirmary, but I suspect he’ll make a full recovery. You have nothing to worry about,” he assures him.
Hiccup sighs and pulls his knees up, settling his elbows on them and a hand in his hair. He wouldn’t exactly say that he has nothing to worry about. He almost killed Snotlout! By accident!
Viggo lays a hand on his shoulder and once again he’s showing a side to him that the others don’t get to see much. Or at all.
“You’ll learn to control it,” there’s almost confidence in his statement, but Hiccup isn’t sure how that will ever happen.
“Sure, like I haven’t been trying to learn my entire life,” he mutters as he rises to his feet. Viggo watches him leave, expression unreadable. The dining hall behind him, Hiccup retreats to his room, unsure how he’s going to face anyone ever again.

Vigcup Week 2023 Day 5
Prompt: Dance
Rated: explicit
Warnings: none
Pairings: Viggo/Hiccup
Word Count: 1,602
Summary: Hiccup finds out that Viggo is nervous about their wedding dance.
Hiccup’s eyes went big.
“You don’t really believe in that kind of stuff, do you?” Hiccup himself was more of a skeptic when it came to such things. He’d just assumed Viggo was as well.
“Not really,” Viggo admitted. He chuckled, mostly to himself. “Your father scares me a little, if I’m being honest.”
“Well, he did strangle you that one time,” Hiccup pointed out. He came over to Viggo, took his hand. “Look, the dance doesn’t have to be perfect, but I’ll try my best, alright?”
Viggo took a deep breath and nodded, turned to face Hiccup. “I assume that means we’ll keep practicing?”
“Yes. We’ll keep practicing.”
Viggo and Hiccup took each other’s hands and restarted the dance, bodies swaying to a tune that wasn’t there. Hiccup knew that made it much harder to practice, but Tuffnut had claimed he was still busy tuning his lute and couldn’t provide the music that day.
Hiccup was mostly okay with that though. The dance practice hadn’t allowed them to be intimate or honest with each other, especially the first day when Gobber had been directing their movements. Now it was just the two of them, and they could be bare with each other.
Hiccup tried his best to keep track of where his prosthetic went, but it was difficult since he had nothing to feel with, no toes to know what to do. He’d never really been a good dancer, and the lack of a left foot only made things worse.
But he’d try for Viggo.
They made it to the end of the dance without colliding with each other, or tripping and falling. Viggo dipped Hiccup down as the ending move, and he was breathing hard, a glint dazzling in his dark eyes.
He leaned down and kissed Hiccup despite how breathless the two of them were. Hiccup didn’t mind, even as the kiss made him more breathless: it was just so good.
Viggo pulled him back up to stand, hands falling to his hips.
“That was much better.”
“Was it?”
Viggo nodded. He looked at Hiccup in that way of his that said he was undressing him with his eyes. Hiccup very much liked that look. A spear of heat went through his core.
“Yes.” Viggo leaned in close, lifting a hand to cup Hiccup’s cheek. His eyes flitted to the doors of the Mead Hall. “How long do you think we have till dinner?”
Hiccup, understanding Viggo's motives, grabbed him by the back of the head. "Long enough."
He pulled him into a passionate kiss, and from there he let Viggo guide him till his back was against a pillar. For a moment they didn't do anything but kiss, but after a time, they began tugging at each other's clothes.
"At least we're not expected to remain chaste till the marriage," Viggo panted, pulling away to reach for Hiccup's belt.
Hiccup couldn't help the small purring sound that left him. He could feel his cock straining against his pants, desperately hoping to be free of its confines. Looking down showed that Viggo was experiencing something similar.
"Well, it's not like we can have a child," Hiccup pointed out, breathless. His mind went to how they needed an heir regardless, but those thoughts dissipated as soon as his belt hit the floor. They could worry about that later, after they were married.
"Those are thoughts for another time," Viggo said, echoing Hiccup’s concerns. He reached for his own belt, but Hiccup brushed his hands aside and began undoing it for him. Luckily Viggo wasn't wearing his armor or the big spiked belt that went with it. He knew most of his armor was an intimidation tactic, but that didn't mean the spikes weren't sharp.
They didn't have long till the Mead Hall began filling for dinner, but Hiccup still wanted this. He knew they couldn't do full penetration though. That would have to wait for later that night when it was just the two of them and would remain that way. However, there was something exciting about being on a time limit, about the thought of being caught having sex with his husband-to-be.
Hiccup sighed when Viggo pulled his pants down for him and his cock sprang free. He reached for Viggo's, and the older man groaned a little when Hiccup grasped him.
It went quickly from there; they didn't really have time for foreplay. Viggo shoved Hiccup hard against the pillar, jutted his hips forward, and wrapped his hand around the both of them. The thrusting hurt at first, given that there really wasn't any lubricant. They hadn't had time to start a flow of precum.
Hiccup cried out, grabbed at Viggo's forearm with one hand, the other digging nails into the stone of the pillar. He liked the pain Viggo could bring him during sex, and something about it happening so fast like this made him all hot and bothered. Viggo was panting and growling, his other hand on Hiccup's shoulder to hold him in place. Granted, it wasn't like Hiccup wanted to be anywhere but here.
"Oh fuck!" Hiccup gasped out as precum came into the mix of sensations, making the slide of Viggo against him more smooth. It burned in the most pleasant way possible. He dug his nails into Viggo, tossed his head back against the pillar, chest heaving.
There was nothing clumsy about Viggo's movements despite the speed of them and despite the need to worry about time. The man was well practiced in sex, and all that did was make Hiccup more attracted to him.
"Fuck." Viggo's voice was a low rumble, and it had Hiccup humming and whining. "Are you close, my dear?"
"Yes," Hiccup panted. He thrusted his hips into Viggo's movements, finding a rhythm with him, even as he was desperate to reach his end. Viggo pressed against him harder, and Hiccup had to wrap his arms around him to keep himself up; his knees were wobbling. "You?"
Viggo nodded, seeming incapable of words, which was a rare occurrence for him.
They came together in a burst of pleasure that had Hiccup shouting. They worked themselves through it, the both of them thrusting and crying out.
Once it was over, the pleasure still rocketing through them, Viggo leaned one hand on the pillar and pressed his forehead to Hiccup's. Their breath mingled, hot and heavy.
"Too bad they can't judge if we'll have a good marriage based on that," Viggo said with a teasing smile.
Hiccup laughed. "I don't think I'd like that very much."
Viggo huffed in amusement. "To each their own then." He pulled away from Hiccup, leaving him trying to catch his breath against the pillar.
That was when Hiccup realized that their tunics had gotten caught in the crossfire, so to speak. His eyes went big.
"Our clothes!"
Viggo looked down at himself, began laughing. He didn't seem at all distressed about this the way Hiccup was.
"We can just take our tunics off," Viggo said. "It wouldn't be farfetched to be hot and sweating from dancing practice." He was putting his cock back into his pants, sated.
Hiccup nodded, seeing the sense in that. They hadn't been caught, but now he was anxious that everyone would know what they'd done.
"We'll, uh, have to get back to that another time," Hiccup said.
He felt stable enough to stand up without the pillar, began fixing his pants. He pulled off his tunic in one fluid motion, found Viggo doing the same. He couldn't help licking his lips at the sight of him: all muscular and sweaty.
"Come," Viggo said, holding out his hand. "We should wash up before dinner."
Hiccup grasped his hand with a smile, and the two left the Mead Hall, no one any the wiser about what they'd really gotten up to in there.

2, 5, 8, 11, 19, and 20.
2. Will you participate in any fandom exchanges or fic challenges, etc?
I hope to participate in Whumptober, as always. And maybe do some prompts for Multiamory March. Vigcup Week if @evilwriter37 is able to hold it again this year. Other than that... Maybe just anything that draws my attention.
5. Which WIP is first on your list to complete this year? Will you post a snippet?
Just a Kid chapter 24, mostly. Because that project is my biggest ever, it would be great if I could finish the fic as a whole this year and move on with the story.
Snippet:
Never the less... He can't let it go. He opens the door. Dagur sits on a floor covered in pieces of glass, his back against the wall. He's taking a swig from a bottle, probably liquor, and Hiccup immediately regrets walking in. The other has already noticed him, it's too late to leave. "Hiccup," he says, a slight slur to his name. For a moment, neither know what to say or do. Hiccup's fingers are still on the door, he's itching to close it behind him and retreat to his room for the night. He doesn't really owe Dagur anything, no one would blame him. "Hiccup, come here," but the other slurs that and, against his better judgment, he leaves the door.
8. Is there a story idea in your mental vault that you’ve never been brave enough to try writing? Is this the year? Can you tell us about it?
You know what? I actually can't remember. I know that I have those ideas... But I just can't remember! Kind of disappointed.
11. Would you like to try any new fanfic genres or tropes this year?
If I come across any and feel like writing them? Sure!
19. Would you consider non-fandom writing events, like NaNoWriMo or writing contests?
NaNoWriMo, but only if I still feel like it after next Whumptober.
20. Any plans to work on original fiction this year?
Always! I want to finish as many calls for original writing possible and I hope to get some serious work done on original work.

Whumpay Day 17
Summary: Written for Whumpay 2021 Day 17. Set in a futuristic sci-fi/fantasy AU with an Alien AU and a Reincarnation AU mixed in. Viggo thought of his newest intern as a promising, but terribly naive young man. It's the first time he might've read someone wrong. It is by no means a coincidence that Hiccup became his intern.
Warning: implied/referenced medical treatmens, hospitalizations, and medical issues
Rating: Mature
Characters: Hiccup, Toothless, Viggo, Stoick
Pairing: Mentioned minor Hiccstrid, minor Stalka, very slight Vigcup
Words: 6 994
Fandom: How To Train Your Dragon
Prompt: Recklessness
Whumpee: Hiccup, Stoick, Valka (mentioned)
Author’s Notes: PLEASE READ THIS FIRST!
I want to take a moment to say that I am NOT a doctor or an expert of any kind and any illnesses and treatment of such illnesses are PURELY FICTIONAL and based on SCIENCE FICTION and FANTASY.
Just in case someone thinks that there might be an inkling of real world inspiration in here, there isn't. Any similarities, even if just in name, are purely coincidental.
Constructive criticism is appreciated. Enjoy!
