it’s an incredible shame there’s not a clear recording of this song with this arrangement. super gorgeous song about grief, and I love the frantic piano intro. the other versions have a great wistful orchestral start (and the original version had no intro), but there’s something really evocative about the piano. anyway I think what really makes the song is also how mundane and earnest some of the lyrics are, “who will correct me when I’m right” and “you always made me go to the dentist”. cannot believe they cut the song, added it back in, and didn’t include it on the cast album -_-

omg i was JUST listening to that song LOL!! i love it so much. there are honestly soooo many modest mouse songs that i love but i guess i can separate them based on mood
