hi meg!! i’ve been thinking about getting back into shane and ryan’s content on watcher (i loved them on buzzfeed but when they switched over to their own channel i wasn’t watching youtube much at that time and never got around to being able to keep up with it). i love haunted stuff so i was thinking of starting there but i was wondering if you have any suggestions on where i should start watching their stuff again? tysm in advance and i’m sending you so much love!!

ooh your best bet would be ghost files on their YouTube channel Watcher, because it's nearly the same format as unsolved supernatural. My Personal favorite is Are You Scared, wherein they read spooky stories submitted by fans or found online (usually reddit, creepypasta, etc). If you plan on deviating from the haunted stuff puppet history is a really fun show with developing lore and so many fun history facts, but if it's not up your alley you could give mystery files a try, which is similar to unsolved (true crime) but they try to discuss niche cases, appearances, etc!

weighing in on ttpd cause for me it's just frustrating. like so much of it i love, literally some of my favourite writing, but then it's swallowed up by all this clunky... nothing. i felt like this with a lot of midnights, and evermore too (though i might be on my own on that one lol). before there'd obviously songs here and there that'd like waffle on a bit but that's fine. it's when it's on most of the songs. and then there are thirty of those songs on one album jsnfjknfask her writing used to be so succinct and clever and well thought out and her albums carefully curated and we just haven't had that in a while. idk, it's sad.

this this this! even the songs i absolutely love have a few lines that just kill the vibe for me, and i can see it happening with midnights and evermore too but with them i think the varied production distracts you from that. even though it's said ttpd gave her the most creative leeway to experiment, I'd say evermore and folklore obviously are her most experimental works like she may have missed the mark sometimes but the albums on the whole made up for that! ttpd is just. not on that level for me

I saw some people mentioning song pipelines so I propose the death by a thousand cuts —> right where you left me —> I look in people’s windows pipeline.

Overall narrative is about a girl who is broken up with but can’t move on and feel’s physically trapped as she watches the world go by without her.

I suddenly understand why everyone left the album listening parties in tears. And I get why H wants small intimate gigs at the moment because this album is so raw.

me too. the letter to god interludes in particular. felt myself crying/tearing up at multiple points and i can't believe someone thought of this album, made it and released it in the world like it is such a beautiful, incredibly personal and raw body of work
