I saw some people mentioning song pipelines so I propose the death by a thousand cuts —> right where you left me —> I look in people’s windows pipeline.
Overall narrative is about a girl who is broken up with but can’t move on and feel’s physically trapped as she watches the world go by without her.

I suddenly understand why everyone left the album listening parties in tears. And I get why H wants small intimate gigs at the moment because this album is so raw.
me too. the letter to god interludes in particular. felt myself crying/tearing up at multiple points and i can't believe someone thought of this album, made it and released it in the world like it is such a beautiful, incredibly personal and raw body of work

I think imgonnagetyouback is my least favorite song on the album, but I love that it comes right after The Black Dog. In my head, she's like "oh he's at the bar and he doesn't even miss me, better call a priest about it. unless..."
BETTER CALL A PRIEST ABOUT IT. UNLESS??
#you ask for the tab*#That is so true! I think it would've been way more enjoyable if I hadn't heard Olivia's song before this one#wonderful mutuals 💖

*drum roll pls* - IT’S TIMMEEEEEEEE (pls read in a Mariah Carey voice)- the return of ‘Kate talks to Meg about the books she’s reading bc it’s fun’ time!!!!!!
Okay so. I finally, FINALLY, made my stretch goal of reading 50 books this year! My goal each year is 25 bc it seems pretty approachable, but I’m always trying to get to 50 in my head. I’m pretty thrilled about this hehehe.
My favs are: The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet by Becky Chambers, The Undertaking of Hart and Mercy by Megan Batten, Funny Story by Emily Henry, the Shepard King Duology by Rachel Gillig (which I am shocked about bc it’s been so hyped and I ended up really enjoying it), The love of my afterlife by Kirsty Greenwood, Cress by Marissa Meyer and The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches by Sangu Mandanna, but honestly I enjoyed a LOT of the books I read this year.
Misses for me: I read the first three books in the ACOTAR series and while I found the second one to be at least fun in a ‘reality tv’ sort of way, I didn’t care for the first book or the third one. Not super interested in finishing the series. I mostly read it for my friends who love it. A Fate Inked in Blood by Danielle L. Jensen was a huge miss for me, and I rated it like 1.25 on StoryGraph… just not good lmao. Love and Other Words by Christina Lauren was also another big miss for me. It just… didn’t hit the way you want a romance book like that to hit. The plot and characters were weird. (A better Christina Lauren book is In A Holidaze).
Series I read this year/caught up on: I read the Lunar Chronicles this year and wow, I really liked it!! The last book is kinda beefy and has lot going on, but I thought it was a lot of fun for a YA SciFi/Fantasy! I read the prequel to Legends and Lattes, Bookshop and Bonedust as well. Just as cozy as the first, but with a little more action! I also read the first two books in the belladonna series and liked the first a lot, but found the second to be lacking something!
Currently reading: Wisteria by Adalyn Grace, which is the third book in the belladonna series, and I think where the second book and this book are going astray for me is I don’t really like Blythe enough to follow her story? I really enjoyed Signa (main character in Belladonna, the first book) but Blythe just doesn’t have that same pull for me. It’s an easy read so we’ll see if I finish! I am listening to The Hobbit by J.R.R Tolkien narrated by Andy Serkis, who does a fantastic job and I am loving the book so far. I think Bilbo is a deeply relatable character to follow along with. I have plans to read LOTR next year!
Hehe that’s all for this installment, I’m in the middle of my Minecraft phase with my friends so reading might be more on the back burner, but I have a couple of Christmas reads I hope to read soon! I love a cheeky Christmas romance to read over the holiday cause it always makes everything a little more dreamy. I also am currently sick so I might end up with a lot reading done in the next few days!!! Happy Holidays!!!!!
EVERYBODY CHEER WE ARE SO BACK!!! I've been following Christina Lauren's works for a while bc they (and sally Thorne) got me out of an awful reading slump and I agree! In a holidaze was more interesting for sure (although Josh and Hazel's guide to not dating remains my favorite from them). And ooh I so want a fun holiday romance, I'll definitely wait for your recs!! AND OH I LOVED THE VERY SECRET SOCIETY OF IRREGULAR WITCHES it was so cute!! The Shepard king honestly deserves more hype too like it is such well balanced fantasy!! I got so many recs out of this episode many thanks for that <333

Pitchfork honestly lives up to their name because when I (rarely) hear about them it just makes me think of the groups of farmers in horror movies chasing someone out of town with pitchforks and torches even though the thing they did wasn’t bad. They get off on seeing artists put their heart and soul into something and saying it’s bad. If you can’t tell that was an incredibly personal album off of one listen then you should not be an album reviewer.
😭 😭 😭 Every review feels like a personal attack at the artist rather than an objective critique of their art
