When you think of skyscraper cities where do you think? New York? Hong Kong? Dubai? Those certainly have some of the tallest buildings in the world and definitely qualify, but would you think of Las Vegas, USA? To look at this pic, maybe you should. I started a week long road trip from Vegas in 21 so I got a few pics of the city itself. I shot this from my hotel room in the Tropicana. Not specifically the hotels you see in this pic, but the Tropicana is on the corner of Las Vegas Blvd (AKA "The Strip") and Tropicana (named after the hotel). It, with the New York New York that you partially see, along with the Excalibur Hotel (the hotel with the most rooms in the world when it was built) and the MGM Grand (still the largest hotel in the world by number of rooms), this street corner has over 14,000 hotel rooms! That's just the one intersection not including the other massive hotels up and down the strip. Need a place to stay? You should be able to find a room in Las Vegas. . Apr 2022 . For everywhere you travel, there's probably someone (or lots of someones) who call it home. Don't take what you have at home for granted. Los Angeles, California, USA has many interesting things to see and do. They tend to figure that if you can't find it in SoCal (Southern California) then you probably don't need it. Well, one of those places is the Griffith Observatory in this iconic picture where it overlooks downtown LA. It's not necessarily the best observatory anymore given the light pollution from the city, but it does have some great views and makes for an interesting site to visit. The views are especially nice on a day that the wind has blown most of the smog away so that you can actually see the downtown - though as I type this, maybe a bit more smog to give more contrast between the observatory and the downtown wouldn't be the worse picture. Hum - maybe some day I'll have to return to try and get such a shot. . . Jun 2021 .
