FFXV Modding Resources

Flagrum is a modding tool and mod manager, lets you install both Steam Workshop as well as earc mods very easily. It also lets you create mods, browse the game files with model and texture previews, extract all kinds of files from the game's earc archives, and more! For some features/early access you will need to support the developer on Patreon and link your Patreon account with Flagrum. Video guide how to install and use Flagrum. Flagrum Blender addon for those who want to create Steam Workshop mods or make renders. The addon lets you import individual FFXV models or entire FFXV environments into Blender. It also lets you export models for Steam Workshop mods. An entire wiki page with multiple guides and information about FFXV modding that the Flagrum developer has collected over the years. Lucent is a visual scripting tool, lets you alter the game's script files visually via nodes. To download the tool you will need to support the developer on Patreon. "Exineris" discord server where you can discuss mods and/or other FFXV related topics (try not to derail the discussion to projects like KH or versusXIII; that's not the purpose of the server). Also contains practical information for modders or 3D artists with links to many useful resources. Flagrum cannot do everything yet so you may still require other tools such as: Noesis (can preview models but only once you extract them from the game's earc archives (Flagrum lets you view these even inside of the earc archives); also lets you preview animations which Flagrum cannot do at the moment) Cindy Text Editor (lets you modify text in the game such as subtitles or various signs, etc) Audiomog (lets you mod the sound files including dialogues, sound effects, and background music) More information can be found on the wiki page linked above. None of this is shade to you, OP, but I do want to point out a dichotomy I see frequently where anytime Suvi leans into her Citadel/wizardly power or authority it is seen as innately unkind/arrogant/antagonistic. The Suvi vs. Sky of it all, if you will.

Because it's Suvi's Wiz-Rizz (Skymode?) that, among other things:

Gets back the music box from Prof. Adelaide (who was engaged in documented WAGE THEFT targeting her TRUE FRIEND)

Grants them access to the Chantry so they can get Eursulon's sword and break Ame's curse, as well as equip them both with some minor magic items

Gives Ame safety and round-the-clock care while she's in a coma for a MONTH. Could you imagine Eursulon (or the fox) doing that on their own? Where do they live? Eursulon would have to go get a job then spend all his off hours taking care of her, because who pays for food, shelter, and medicine? All of that is taken entirely for granted because it was handled by the Archmage Apprentice.

There seems to be an implication that Suvi is only kind/good/laudable when she's not The Wizard Sky, but that feels more grounded in fear and contempt for the Empire and assumptions about the scale and nature of the evils it is responsible for; and again, she's always The Wizard Sky. Suvi is kind, she's just not always NICE (and shouldn't have to be, quite frankly). And I don't think she owes niceness OR kindness to the 2 hedgemages that actively exploited her brother or the uppity weed that choked him out in front of her, knocked Ame unconscious and dragged her off to the shrine, and destroyed an entire innocent village.

I genuinely resent the idea that it is only proximity to Eursulon and Ame that teaches or allows Suvi to access kindness, or that respect (for spirits or any other authority) was learned only at Grandma Wren's feet* and not her defining trait (to a FAULT) when we first met her.

If those words (which are so important to Suvi) seem like something a witch would say, I think your own justification machines need some inspection, because wisdom is not the sole domain of witches/spirits any more than intelligence is of the wizards. * Wren's lessons on spirits were unique in their reverence for the subject matter, but Steel saying "bro we just stay out of their way and keep it pushing" isn't a bad take on them. And a lot of the supposed Citadel Stance on Spirits™ is conjecture, colored by assumptions after seeing the Cassov Collection despite Steel saying aloud "THERE ARE PLENTY OF SPIRITS OPERATING IN THE CITADEL IN MANY CAPACITIES SO YOU'RE NOT ALONE, BEAR, BUT FEEL FREE TO KEEP YOUR GLAMOR UP FOR EASE'S SAKE"

In ep 24 "Knock Knock" I found this interaction between Kalaya and Eursulon so fascinating

Kalaya: You're a true friend of a wizard of the citadel?

Eursulon: Yes.

Kalaya: Is she kind?

Eursulon: She can be.

It felt like such a big sister thing to be cautious of this wizard and have concern for her little brother. A spirit in a world that can be unkind to wild ones such as themselves.

But more interesting than that was Eursulon's answer. "She can be." It could be interpreted as, sometimes she is kind and other times not. Which we have seen both from Suvi (wielding the power, prestige, and station of a wizard vs loving and cherishing her friends).

But it could also be interpreted in a future connotation. Like she COULD be kind but we have yet to see. Will the citadel justification machine take over or will she retain the lessons learned from grandmother wren and hold on to a respect for the world of spirits

Last Eursulon saw Suvi she was caught between her friends and the citadel. And while wizardry is not innately unkind the systems put in place by the citadel can be concerning. Suvi has the potential to go down an alarming path with the brass of the citadel pushing her along. She has the capacity to be "unkind". But the gut reactions we see from her. The Suvi reactions, not Sky or the citadel, but SUVI are always kind. With her friends in her life Suvi can be kind and would continue to be kind. But her friends keep pulling away and the fall out from the last goodbye may be very influential into who Suvi will be.

Eursulon may not have meant much by his response but it feels very ominous in that we are yet to see the type of legacy this interation of the wizard Sky is going to leave.

Anon, I just want you to know that this has been living in my head for so long I wrote a full fledged guide. Also if you need cool Skyrim mods hit me up because I have tried literally every Snow Elf mod I could get my little trash panda hands on.

Without further ado, below the cut is the Non Canon Guide to the Falmer Tongue: Names and Naming!

The Falmer believed strongly in the power of a name; it is as part of you as the air you breathe or the divine spark of life in your body, after all. While they weren’t as extreme as their southern brethren the Ayleids, the Snow Elves did take time and careful consideration before deciding on a name. In fact, Falmer children weren’t named until their fifth birthday – the celebrations that took place on a child’s naming day were unparalleled. It was, after all, the most important day of a Snow Elf’s life.

It is important to note that the Falmer tradition of waiting five years before a naming very quickly fell to the wayside in the wake of the Atmoran invasion. Variations of Estel became very popular in this time.

As far as the actual names go, the Falmer naturally share a common linguistic branch with their ancestors the Aldmer, and their distant relatives the Altmer, Bosmer, and Ayleids. Like the Falmer language itself, their names flowed off the tongue into something that would be a melody under the right vocal (fun side note, a Falmer expression of love is commonly translated to, “your name is a song to me”). Mirtil, Faire, Lynvena, Athil, and of course Gelebor and Vyrthur all have a certain ring to them. Each of these names also carries a meaning that speak to a certain truth about the Mer who holds it. The similarity between the words Mirtil and mir- (to laugh, smile), or even the names Faire, which translates to “prosperous” or “good-graced”, and Estel (and all variations), meaning “hope”, is hard to ignore. Some names are less descriptive of one’s personality and more of their appearances; Gelebor shares a root with gele, which means “silver”, which could point to the hue of his hair, or the tone of his skin (note: Falmer skin tones were far more varied than the Museum of Alinor would have you believe!)

While the tradition was uncommon up until the Falmer-Atmoran War, where it saw a surge in ubiquity, sometimes a Falmer was named after a beloved relative who was no longer with them– in these instances, it was either a call for the departed to watch over the young one, or their traits sparked a sort of familiarity.

For all the importance of names in Falmer society, changing one’s name was a known practice! This was largely done by Elves who changed their gender and felt their parents-given name no longer suited them. In these instances, they formally petitioned the Prince in their sovereignty to accept the name change. These requests were always granted*, and were more of a formality for the sake of recordkeeping. And yes, there was a party when the name change was made official.

Some unfortunate souls were abaend, literally “without a name”. Before the Falmter-Atmoran war, it’s believed this term applied to the hulkynds, the outcasts of Falmer society; during the war, it took on a broader term to mean a young orphan. Gracious foster families would take these children in and raise them as their own, naming them as they would any other child, but it’s said that a certain sadness always came it.

*Assuming the petitioner wasn’t asking to go by Lorkhan or the name of a Daedra. That there is flirting with exile.

Moving on to the meaningful name: all Falmer names have a meaning. However, here are a few for those babies who are certainly showing signs of greatness. Quotations imply a direct translation, followed by meanings and implications:

Maicewen - “Sharp-edged”, aggressive, warrior, favors the sword and spear over shield.

Aumriel - “Touched by All-Sovereign”, full of power and potential, destined to be part of history, powerful, implied to be blessed by Auri-El.

Rovaile - “Wings on the Wind”, sharp and swift, flighty, perhaps reluctant to take on responsibilities, also implies an affinity for birds and the sky.

Melehor - “Mighty”, strong and able, works with their hands, implies either a great builder or a terrible force of destruction.

Ansethe - “Snake-like (?) eyes”, an unassuming face that holds something deep or dark, like Melehor could be of great good or evil, ambitious, drawn to power. Appears to share a root with anse, meaning “snake”, but appears to also be a middle-Falmeri term for “dragon”.
