X is standing in the darkest corner of sky’s room, his red irises glowing in the shadows. this was a similar behavior he displayed at the very start of their bond, but instead of simply observing sky from afar, X almost seemed shy as they watched their partner enter his room. the gifts they left on sky’s bed gave a hint as to why…

a single red rose, and a heart-shaped box filled with homemade cookies and chocolates were laid out on the bed. ( nikki having helped him make the latter ) but beside the flower and the treats was another box, smaller and rectangular in shape. should it be opened, a necklace with a small obelisk pendant would be revealed. the pendant itself was held by a thin black chain, but was otherworldly in appearance. closely resembling a fire obsidian, with shades of dark blue and purple shifting gently across the void-like stone. a note accompanied the necklace in it’s box…

“ my love, in the short time we’ve been together, i have experienced some of the most enjoyable days of my existence, and i look forward to what the future may bring us. please accept this gift as a token of my affection for you. whenever i am not by your side, speak to me through the stone on the necklace, and i will arrive wherever you are. — X “

As the sun sets down into twilight, Skyler stumbled into the room and looking like a mess and feeling exhausted from that mission. Closing the door behind him, Feeling frustrated from today that he starts talking his rant out loud.

"Man....Egghead had even more backups then usual...On Valentines day of all days? Geez...I couldn't even find a time and place to look for a gift for X. Might have to call Ama later." Keeping a memo for himself and grabbing the nearest towel as if by habit and trying to shake off the debris and dirt from going through Eggman's base and tumbles from taking care of the doctor's new inventions. Tossing the cloth into the laundry bin. The room littered with rejected crumbled papers and denim jeans and other 90s clothing vibes.

Skyler goes to the music station corner to pick up an old acoustic guitar and heading to his bed and stops to see the gifts. "Huh....I swear I locked the door but...." He puts the guitar aside and goes to take the note and reads it carefully.

"....They really shouldn't have...I've been busy this year already and I go-" He rambles again from denial if he even deserves this heartful letter and these gifts? He had a hunch that Nikki help them as well and pauses once he opens the box. His mouth agape to see the necklace with the beautiful stone pendent still glowing from the last bits rays of the sun.

He did not hesitate the put the necklace on and looks over at the corner where there is a mirror stand. His face finally forms into a smile and feeling the sense of joy building up.

"This is so beautiful....Wait!" He did not hesitate to wear his usual casual wear. The necklace still blends pretty well on the amazing drip.

His smile cracks into a chuckle and feeling satisfied at the sight. Skyler gently grips the crystal for a moment and closes his eyes that he is gratefully to meet them.

"Thanks X....Can't wait to make more memories with you."

Well after the thoughtful response, he just didn't hesitate to munch on those chocolates for the rest of the night. Self care comes first.

Ok now that I'm thinking about Jack again I wanna elaborate on our divorce era a bit. Calling it that is slightly inaccurate bc we don't formally break up but y'know. Also I'm gonna call my s/i Valentine here for the sake of clarity

So uh. Valentine doesn't know about Angel (or at least he doesn't know the full truth abt her) until she dies. And so obviously he's like "Jack what the fuck why didn't you tell me about the daughter you were keeping imprisoned" and so they get into a big fight about it (which then expands into a fight about a bunch of other stuff) and while they don't formally break up it's very much like. On the table. And then y'know the ending of bl2 happens and Jack Fucking Dies and even though Valentine is EXTREMELY pissed at Jack that's still his husband that just died and with all those conflicting emotions he's really fucked up for a while. Which then leads to what he's doing in Tales which is actively looking for Nakayama's ID drive- he's not quite sure what he's going to do with it when he gets it but he just needs closure. Tales is when he's at his worst mentally but it's also where he gets his hottest character design so it balances out GJFHR
