here, a quick and a bit messy sketch of the outlay of the boiling isles from the owl house -- dunno about detail accuracy in that map, i just needed a reference

the "death zone" is basically a boiling hot version of the bermuda triangle, due to the water currents

the 100 degrees celsius is roughly the boiling temperature for water; while 80 feels like it's burning but a relatively brief contact doesn't actually damage the skin.
